Another LZ album, I know more of this one, the 3 I hadn't heard left little impact, but of course the others are quite good. LZ being better than most of the hard rock acts on this list. Like this more than II. 4 Heard before? Some Owned: No 59/245 (24%) Will I get: No
I occasionally can’t hack Plant’s voice but there’s no denying IV’s greatness and status. When the Levee Breaks rocked me. Fav tracks: Black Dog, When the Levee Breaks. RYM: Y (#74) Saved a song: Y
Immediately the soundstage is so different to modern stuff. Pre “wall of sound”. Such iconic songs. And such a breadth of songwriting. Black dog to battle of evermore to stairway to heaven is huge range in a single album. Harmonica, mandolin, synth… so surprised by all the different influences
Great!
8/10… psychedelic / classic rock / *1971
This for sure is my favorite Zeppelin project. The caveat is that im not huge on them to begin with. Im not against them like some other bands but I dont choose to listen to them almost ever. The other thing is there are some all time songs on here that I dont care for. Stairway is more of a meme before memes existed than a song to me. Its just the thing you shout at a local band to hear a worse version to extend a show. The song I guess is fine but the reputation is annoying. And black dog has a section of guitar that is out of synch and it drives me nuts every single time I hear it. I loose all good will I have for an admittedly cool guitar part when it comes up. Personally the songs I like are the lower key ones. Give me rock and roll, misty mountain hop, or going to California any day over the two biggest songs. But generally i like the bluesy rock that zep does here. It is nice. Just not my bag in most cases. Im surprised I was as into it as I was. Everything else ive heard goes in one ear and out the other without much resistance. But im happy to be happy with anything they put out cause I almost thought I just didnt like them or at least didnt care.
This is a definitive classic rock album. Amazing. Pitchfork: 9.1 (reissue rating) Rolling Stone: Top 500 Albums #58 Best Songs (nearly every song) Black Dog The Battle of Evermore Stairway to Heaven Misty Mountain Hop Going to California When the Levee Breaks
IV
Sorry but there's only one stellar track (Stairway), one really good track (Black Dog), and a bunch of pretty solid blues rock.
Some classics on here
Good album. Bit too much of an old feel for me, but stairway is obviously a classic. The change for the acoustic song was nice. Length of album was good, overall an enjoyable album, only one song gets into my playlist
Amazing album with good classics
Good album, nothing to complain about, but I don't get the hype about it being a masterpiece. 7/10 or a light 4.
There's something about Led Zeppelin that doesn't quite hit me. Very good album musically, I'm just not blown away the vocals which are a bit jarring on The Battle of Evermore. Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven and When the Levee Breaks are all great, though. 3.5/5.
will listen again
Yea that's pretty good.
I forgot about 'Battle of Evermore', forgot about it all really. I want to play guitar.
Damn I love Zeppelin. I was little surprised to see that my 2 favourite songs were amongst the bottom 3 in listens. The only song I wouldn't say is great on this album is Four Sticks. The rest of the album is made up of all time classics of rock.
What a stacked album.
Omg songs I actually know on here
2/3. These songs are undeniable, whether that’s through great songwriting or sheer cultural force (I think it’s mostly the first one though). Some amazing riffs throughout, balance in the track listing (they know how to pace an album), and while I’m not the biggest fan of Plant’s vocals, I still enjoy them and think they’re integral to this album.
Wow I know every song. Not the biggest fan of Zeppelin's white boy blues, but this is more than that. I've heard Stairway to Heaven enough times to last me a thousand lifetimes so I skipped it here.
Quite a few classics on here....just doesn't have a whole lot of replayability for me. 4.5
Yes its like a 5 star album but I think 5 stars should be saved
So this one will always have a salty place in my heart. I bought this record used and it taught me a hard lesson. You should always pull the record out of the sleeve and look at it before paying for it. Anyways I bought it and brought it home and it the record was warped enough it wasn’t playable. So I read online that you can flatten it under some heavy books. This is not true for how bad this record was. So some people suggest putting it in the oven on the lowest temperature between two sheets of glass. Well this flattened it but it made the 3d waves 2D so it was still unplayable just flat. Now Callie gets to play with it until we eventually throw it out I guess. Other than the lesson this album has taught me. I do really enjoy the music on it. So many great tracks on this one. It would have been nice to spin it on the turntable once in a while. I won’t go out of my way to find a working copy of it. But if I see one someday for a reasonable price. You know I’m gonna get it.
Classic.
rock solid album by the classic rock legends. the band is running on all cylinders with this one. highlights: “rock and roll” “stairway to heaven” “when the levee breaks”
I think this was the first album I ever bought. Solid.
Full of the band's signature songs, this album proves why Led Zeppelin has persisted and stayed iconic and forever discussed in the best artist conversations.
Velmi dober. Got some bangers.
4.2 stars
Goeie toeie
Some absolute bangers all throughout that has encapsulated what it means to rock. Classics that have and will stand the test of time but falls one star short with some songs.
Loses a star for over-exposure. I feel there are deaf people who have heard this album too many times.
I like stairway to heaven and the battle of evermore, better rock album than the previous album, also when the levee breaks reminds me of famous prophets :3
Rock out! I requested "Black Dog" in 12th grade Psych for our listening minute. Good stuff.
This is another album that was played on repeat by my parents so I recognized more songs than I anticipated
Classic.
4.5
Great "blues" album by a legendary band
Not sure there’s more to say in this one. Quite good if a little played out
Songs were soooo long but still good. My top 3 Black dog Stairway to heaven Going to California
stairway to heaven is soo good my fave
Zeppelin's chill...Zeppelin's chill... Favorite Tracks: Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven, Going to California, When the Levee Breaks
Preety good
4 canzoni top, 4 canzoni meh. Prende 4 solo per stairway to heaven
Pretty good album, yet one that ultimately failed to blow me away like "Led Zeppelin" did
It's interesting how different this sounds to the previous Led Zeppelin album I heard (II). I think its better then that album but I'm still not really in love with this sound. I'm still not a huge fan of Stairway to Heaven, I don't know if I've been overexposed or what but it doesn't really do anything for me. That said I did really enjoy Rock and Roll and Black Dog. I think I just don't really like the delivery on some of these songs and it knocks it down from being really incredible. Misty Mountain Hop is a great example of a song I like the instruments of but I hate the delivery of those verses. Low 4 seems about right.
hell yeah Highlights: Black Dog, Stairway, Going to California
Good. Two top tracks
Simply great, it’s a lovely, easy listen. I think it lacks some of the gusto of II (previously rated) and is less bluesy, but it’s still really good. Could quite possibly be a 5 with more sustained listening to pick out its subtleties.
[Drop]
Total classic album. Not much more needs saying
8/10
Experimental album from Lad Zeppelin. Yeah, another classic but not so ground-breaking as 1-3 albums. Yet a couple of bangers are there.
Good album. Going To California it's perfect.
Probably their masterpiece and has the added bonus of including Sandy Denny on Battle of Evermore for that added bit of colour to the mix.
All time classic record, everything from the vocals to the guitar work to the drumming. Some really famous names in the band. Stairway to heaven is one of the best songs ever made
Classic album, stand-out tracks, still sounds good
good
Decent 4,5
Honestly kinda a vibe
I knew a couple songs off this album already. The only two I properly like are Black Dog and Going to California. Black Dog because I can't hear the lyrics and Going to California because I can. I will still probably stick to the Joe P cover though.
Hate Stairway… love the rest
When I first looked at the song list for this album, I thought I didn't know most of the songs. Once I started listening, I realized that I knew the songs, just never knew the names of them. Great album.
8/10 Best songs: The Battle of Evermore, Stairway to Heaven, When the Levee Breaks You know, this album does something that I really wish more albums in general do, particularly those from the early 70s: it has peaks and valleys, sometimes in the same song. Instead of stagnating with the same sound, the album goes from screaming, brash, and loud to low-key story songs. I really like that approach because I don't end up bored by the end. Stairway to Heaven is a good example of this encompassed in one song: calm story with almost sn acoustic vibe to the band kicking in to the vocals fading away and heavy metal taking hold to the earlier screaming vocals. Compare that to Four Sticks (also on this album) - one heavy bass line and screaming the whole way through; no variation makes for a very tedious experience. All of that being said, this album annoys me because its highs are extremely high and its lows are in the basement. Not sure how to rate this one. And one last note: man, they really gave anyone a microphone in the 70s, didn't they?
Amazing album not my taste but understand why it's a classic
Album that has stairway to heaven and rock and roll. Most notable parts to me aside from When the levee breaks. Good rock all around
A pretty solid album, I see why it has so many listens. I never realized I haven't listened to the whole Stairway to Heaven song, just the intro. When the Levee Breaks is pretty good, so is the first song. Album's definitely more, medieval? than I thought. 6.9/10 for me.
This is very solid stuff.
I just want to share the comedy podcast Three Bean Salads take on Led Zeppelin: https://youtu.be/Gj8FihIIaic?si=mAhteZQikrLhVTkT
Almost perfect
Without a doubt, a classic rock album
Stairway to heaven i
super strong album intro, rock n roll has a bluesy/country influence, Misty Mountain feels a lot more pop rock n' roll-y than their discography kinda loved it, going to california comes in so soft it shocks you – its my favorite led zeppelin song, brings it home with a killer guitar intro and some nola twang in the rhythm guitar
Love battle of evermore.
I want to hear this album live; there's something intoxicating about it but listening through my shitty wireless headphones is holding it back. Stairway to Heaven IS that good. The whole album is cinematic, like I'm in an action film. That said, it's just not my top genre. Favorite song: When the Levee Breaks.
classic! the dissonance in misty mountain hop was really awesome
Just a cool album isn't it.
a fun listen, a little repetitive at times
My second favorite led zeppelin album, reminds me of my dad
Very simple but must have been pretty groundbreaking at its time. Most songs are good but also too similar sounding.

I just really like Led Zeppelin 🤷♀️
My head tells me how wonderful LZ are but my heart is less enthused even though I feel that this album has always been part of my consciousness. There is no denying that this is an incredible album – I’m trying to describe it and all I can say is that it is transcendental heavy metal, quite unique.
Good album. Never been a big fan of Led Zeppelin rock, but Stairway to Heaven, Going to California, and When the Levee Breaks are what makes the album good. 8/10 (the variety and lyrics is what makes it a very interesting album)
what a start with black dog; goes a little off the rails, but then there is stairway to heaven lol, 4 stars for me
"If it keeps on rainin', the levee's gonna break."
Nearly all killer, no filler on this one.
7.5/10 Chanson pref : Starway to heaven
Suprisingly groovy
Blending heavy metal, folk, pure rock ’n’ roll, and blues, Led Zeppelin IV weaves rich threads of Tolkien-inspired and hippie mysticism throughout.

Diverse!
Fav tracks: battle of evermore (mandolin + guitar), going to California (mandolin + guitar), misty mountain hop, stairway to heaven A classic. This album is so beautiful, didn’t realize how much I prefer the instrumentals til I heard he deluxe version.
AAGH At one point when listening the songs made me feel as if im so alive and human and then the next song I literally feel like i die and then came back to life Some songs are just fun and not that unique although there are some that stood out Was it worth it? Definitely because it was fun and some parts were unique When to listen to? Idk when else im gonna be listening to this album since it doesn't really fit a certain mood
Great album by the legendary band.
Great
Black dog - Bella, super carica
this is the of all time
An absolute classic of an album, very big songs on here. For me, I particularly love The Battle of Evermore more than some of the other well known songs, the lyrics, the mandolin, the duet, it’s magic.
Pretty good, quite long
Not a fan of the first 2 tracks, but I really like the rest. Stairway to Heaven is a perfect song. fav: Stairway to Heaven, The Battle of Evermore, When the Leaves Breaks
I’m not mad about it- I guess it’s a classic for a reason? Listened to this during a workout and got a lot done!
Really good. However, it doesn't feel like a 5 but perhaps that will change with more listens
Really enjoyed that. 10/10 song in Stairway to Heaven.
Liked this more than I thought I would, definitely helped by Black Dog and Stairway being classics.
on my third complete relisten and its still not my fav zep record but a solid classic rock album anyway
Just so much happening musically on this album. Classic.
Love the guitar riffs. Great banjo/folk sound on some songs. Stairway to Heaven is an iconic song that I’ve never really listed to fully but I see why it is legendary! Really liked the flute. And solid ending to the album with the rolling When the Levee Breaks.
4,5 pretty iconic
I haven’t loved a lot of Zeppelin so far, but I think I enjoyed this more than the others. Definitely a lot of recognizable hits on here.
This album suffers somewhat from over exposure. There are nonetheless some great riffs and other cool moments. I’m particularly interested in all the Tolkien references interspersed with regular rock stuff. Highlights for me are Battle of Evermore, Misty Mountain Hop, and When the Levee Breaks.
Even though there are many led zeppelin classics and counting my number one : when the levee breaks, this album is sort of messy. I wish Robert would control his voice as in the ballad of the evermore. Of course it’s a major classic rock album, a basic, a must to listen ! Solid 4 out 5
not my favourite but it's definitely a great album
Znammmmmm!
Joa. Ganz gut ne... Aber auch... überbewertet?!
Great album, 1 is better tho
Liked it way more than I thought it would. Such a cool sound and really defines classic rock. Top Songs: The Battle of Evermore, Four Sticks
theres so many versions of this album idk what to say. but i really like Led Zeppelin and i had a fangirl phase with them, so id say this album overall is about a 4.
No Stairway?!?! Denied! This is one of THE classic rock albums, packed with a bunch of really raw and heavy-hitting songs that really defined that era of rock music. The combination of subdued folksy and Middle-Earth-inspired tracks ("Battle Of Evermore," "Stairway", "Going To California") with the more hard rock tracks ("Black Dog", "Rock and Roll", "Four Sticks") made for a very interesting listen, which eventually culminated in the albums final (and fantastic) statement: "When The Levee Breaks." Also, it's such a small moment, but I've loved it since I first heard the song, when the refrain in Stairway to Heaven hits, with the smoothly-strummed guitar and electric piano, it just gives me really warm and comfortable feeling (almost like being covered in a blanket), which just gives that extra goodness to an incredible song about hope. Also Black Dog, Rock and Roll, and When The Levee Breaks just break my brain. John Bonham is goated. Fav: When The Levee Breaks, The Battle of Evermore, Stairway To Heaven, Black Dog. Dislikes: Four Sticks
peak album minus a couple songs
Excellent summer cruise music - listened to it a bunch in my teens. Never could get Black Dog right on guitar, but it was the first song I learned through a teacher.
Liked some of the songs up top, but wasn't in love with the whole album (3.5/5).
Classic Rock and Roll, there's a reason this album is venerated as one of the best Rock albums of all time
Black dog 6/10 decent enough The battle of Evermore 0/10 wtf lol. So out of place with the rest of the album I was so confused. Stairway to heaven, an absolute classic, just so damn long 8/10 Rock and roll, first time hearing. Solid song added to playlist 8/10 Misty mountain hop 7/10 liked it Four sticks 7/10 bit strange towards the end but decent Going to California 8/10 no comment I enjoyed it When the levee breaks 9/10 pretty perfect ending to the album, amazing song Overall id give the album a 7/10 some quality songs on there but one that is skippable every time unfortunately
Lot of classics, it's a fun listen. Great writing, will probably go back to it on occasion.
Pretty good. The last song reminded me of Special Herbs.
Led Zeppelin remains in the consistently good but never as good as people say tier right next to pink floyd
Enjoyed this album a lot. A couple songs I knew before but most I didn’t. Felt like a good variety of songs, a lot of energy but with a couple that were a bit slower. I would definitely listen to it again. Fav song: When the Levee Breaks Least fav: The Battle of Evermore
Nice rock album. I find it quite annoying they were numbering all the albums then just stopped after IV. Have some consistency. I do quite like the cover art though Specific rating - 4.3 Fav song- black dog Least fav- going to California
Some of the songs were a little "Look how good i am at guitar!" but overall still enjoyed the album, fun variety of songs Favourite Song: Going to California Least: Black Dog
Not my favorite Zep', but a stone cold classic through and through. *Heard before
Feeling like the coolest fucking kid on the playground.
Kinda silly kinda overdone kinda my husband would be impressed if I listened
Black Dog memories
Very nic3
I've heard many times that this is the best of the best when it comes to Led Zeppelin albums. It did not disappoint. Truly just a classic with hit after hit. I can't call it exactly perfect. There is a song or two I would likely skip over in the lineup if I were to listen through again. However, this album is well known and beloved for a reason.
Not as consistently good as some other led zep albums but stairway to heaven and when the levee breaks are 2 of the greatest songs of all time.
89/100. A very good album, their best, in my opinion. This record features some of the arguably greatest songs of all time. The highs are absolutely exceptional, though the lows fall short of the album's fantastic peaks.
I'm going to get a lot of flak for this, but Led Zeppelin, and this album in particular, are over rated. This is a fantastic album, and there is loads to enjoy, but ... Led Zep stole so much from others and pretended they invented it. This did it well, true, but their efforts to deny the genius of Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf and others sticks in the craw. If you can get over that, this is a superb album.
album rocks
They kept the plagiarism to a minimum on this one which I appreciate. Favs: Black Dog Stairway To Heaven Misty Mountain Hop When The Levee Breaks Least Fav: Four Sticks
3.5/5
I accidently listened to this three times in a row, but it grew on me at least
I mean... it is a classic
Got some really great tunes on here, and I got mad respect for his influential this record is. I've just never been that big of a Zeppelin fan.
Great voice, musicality and diversity! Those first chords…what an opener!
i was so wrong about led zeppelin
Been 20 plus years since my last full listen. Enjoyed more than I thought I would - “When the Levee Breaks” rules.
I guess the name of this album comes from i.v., meaning intravenous therapy: ”Intravenous therapy is a medical process that administers fluids, medications and nutrients directly into a person's vein.” And yes, I know this album is officially ”untitled”, but I also know that track A4 has been mutilated by excessive playing and appreciation. So it’s a pretty annoying piece of music at times, even though it’s a masterpiece. Some songs just can’t handle that kind of treatment. And of course it’s not their fault! However, they fade away, and soon they’re lying in a hospital bed, IV tube in hand.
Never listened to Stairway to Heaven so I think I was expecting a little bit more, but I really liked it
This album was excellent. I think we previously listened to a Led Zeppelin album that were just okay but this one is polished and great from beginning to end. 4.45826 Edited to add: looks like I have all the previous albums were also rated as 4s. I guess I’m a Led Zeppelin fan.
After track four has been completely drained by literally everything in existence — whether it’s a Marvel movie, your local pub regular Steve crying into his pint while telling a story for the hundredth time, every beginner guitarist learning it as their first song, or the eternal insistence from rock purists that you must listen to the record backwards — you start to appreciate songs like The Battle of Evermore even more. Forever more. Yes, track four is an amazing song. The guitar solo? Incredible. And yes, water is still wet. But does anyone actually listen to the B-side anymore? The last song, though — that one’s a gem.
Starts out great. Then gets into talking about glee gloop and the flooktidoops. Then gets good for a few minutes. Classic but still.
Forbidden in guitar stores.
9/10 Favourite: When the Levee Breaks Least Favourite: Four Sticks
Led Zeppelin? More like the 4 losers, am I right?
Going to California was a favorite,.great sound
Álbum histórico, "Stairway to heaven" & "Rock and roll" como canciones que han pasado a la posteridad.
Love this album.
Okay, I get why everybody hails this album. It is definitely a classic, but honestly, I wouldn't say it is one of my favorites to ever be made. Again, I really understand its classic status, but I think there is a lot more creative and amazing songwriting that came out during the time. Also, the album's songs tend to be really overplayed. Like the majority of radio stations in my area really play the hell out of Black Dog or Stairway to Heaven (the dreaded guitar riff). But honestly, this was a good listen and one of those albums you tend to look forward to on this list. Favorite Tracks: Black Dog, Rock and Roll, The Battle of Evermore, Stairway to Heaven, Misty Mountain Hop, When the Levee Breaks Rating: 4.5/5
Minus one star for Rock and Roll, might be my least favorite zeppelin song. Great album.
Very good indeed, and the final nail in the coffin of my pre-project opinion of Led Zep. Although I do worry a little that I'm doing Liking Led Zeppelin wrong, because I think they're so much better when they just slow down and inject a bit of consideration and balladry into their songs, compared to the 'woah-yeah' of things like Whole Lot Of Love. Anyway, another very good album that I'm pleased to have changed my mind on.
Often hailed as one of the greatest rock albums ever made, this untitled fourth record by Led Zeppelin owes much of its myth to 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯 — a song that became an anthem, a cliché, and a rite of passage for guitarists everywhere. Still, the rest of the album shows the band at their creative peak: 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘋𝘰𝘨 and 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘰𝘭𝘭 explode with energy, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 drifts into English folklore, and 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘦 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘴 thunders like the apocalypse. It’s easy to understand the legend, even if the worship can feel a little excessive.
For my money the best Zep. Love it.
I’m not from the generation that first heard this album, and I don’t share the British or American background behind it. So I listen to Led Zeppelin IV with no preconceptions. To be honest, some of it feels a bit overthought, as if the band was trying to put too much meaning or mythology into the music. Compared to Led Zeppelin II, it’s less raw and spontaneous, and without knowing the cultural context of the time, it can feel quite obscure. Even so, When the Levee Breaks really hit me. It’s bluesy, yet it has a distinctly British weight and sense of space, and I especially love the guitar sound—I’d give it 10 out of 10.
Bon è vincere facile. Però a 16 anni non apprezzavo così
I'm not a huge Led Zeppelin fan overall, but LZIV truly earns a rating of IV. Now, which side is best to seduce a lady?
First side starts all rock 'n roll, then halfway turns into wizard music. Tolkien vibes are heavy. Didn't know "The Battle For Evermore" is a duet with singer Sandy Denny (who I should probably look into) - thought Robert was just gettin' it with the vocals. Stairway takes forever and is basically more wizard music. Second side is the preferred side for sure. "Going to California" is so damn good and I only wish it lasted a lil' longer. Brings a tear to my eye. "When the Levee Breaks" is the best shit from beginning to end. HEAVY. And of course the initial 2 bars of drums are absolute legend. One of Zeppelin's best tracks. Can listen to on repeat and totally be good. Not the first Zeppelin I turn to. Obviously a huge, indispensable record, but I'm good with just the second side dawg (no dis to the first side, just not usually where I'm coming from).
Great classic metal album!
Great record
Classic album, not their best IMO, but some gems and showcasing their unique style
This is surely the best Led Zeppelin album, eh? To my ear, the album’s first side is considerably stronger (e.g., “Black Dog” and “Stairway to Heaven”). There’s some bloat on the album, especially on Side Two. Still, you always have to respect the way the band incorporated metal, blues, and even folk.
Nice, I really enjoyed this one
Decepção pensando no ócio e fadiga que me aguardam no escrever desta review. Neste cenário, me sinto desprendido do consenso geral. Há nele canções sensacionais, espetaculares, inigualáveis, como Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, e When The Levee Breaks. Você nunca vai me ver me opondo a soberania dessas faixas no âmbito do blues rock. Tadinhos! 4/5
This is a short album but each song feels equally as important as the last. "Stairway to Heaven", "Black Dog", and "Rock and Roll" are some famous titles.
Normally this music wouldn’t be my thing but I actually liked this album a lot and it was really Vibey
- Ist ein besonderer Sound zwischen Rock und eher ruhigeren fast Balladen Songs - Würde ich wahrscheinlich nochmal hören - Stairway to Heaven ist einfach ein Klassiker Topsong: Going to California
I was totally lost cuz I haven’t heard the other three. Went into this with the attitude of like “okay it’s a ton of songs I know? I really got listen to Stairway again?” Off the mark, bangers. Stairway is good. That mountain hop song was trash & I don’t think I like When The Levees Break at all cuz I associate that song with douchers.
I don't think I've ever seen a rock trilogy, let alone a Tetralogy with as much respect and love as Led Zepplin's. Led Zepplin IV is arguably the band's most recognized and beloved release of the entire 4 album run the band was on and when listening to the album it is easy to see why. Not only are the songs here incredible in their own rights, the instrumentation, album structure, and just everything is so well coordinated and put together that you really can't ever stop listening once you start. As much as I feel I can add comments about this album's overall quality, I truly don't think I can because of how many other people have dissected this album over the past 52 years. I totally get why this is so renowned and seen as a staple of the genre because of just how impactful each and every song here is on Rock and Roll even to this day. Each track feels like an odyssey put into musical form, especially Stairway to Heaven and When the Levee Breaks. While I do think Led Zepplin III is more my speed, I have to say this album is still great nonetheless.
Just a stupendous album and really deserves to be here. LZ are just the definition of heavy rock and this is amongst their best. Unfortunately the remaster doesn't compensate for the poor modern standards of audio reproduction. A very clear 'sound!' argument for vinyl!
Yeah great
4.5 cos of The Battle of Evermore but fuck it I’ll round it up
I really liked this! Great album! Also knew more songs than I thought I knew!
When I was getting into rock music I became obsessed with the song 'Stairway to Heaven'. I loved it so much that my father gifted me 'Mothership', a compolation of Led Zeppelin greatest songs, which allowed me to discover a lot more of them. After that, I decided to borrow a copy of Led Zeppelin IV that muy father had and still has. That was the first time I listened to the whole album. Thinking about those times, I'm realising that I was, and still am, not too crazy about the record. I must clarify that I really like this album and all that it offers: 'Black Dog' and 'Rock and Roll' are very energetic, 'The Battle of Evermore' is beautiful, 'Stairway to Heaven' is an incredible epic track, 'Misty Mountain Hop' is fun and 'When The Levee Break' has a very interesting combination of rock and folk. The other songs, 'Four Sticks' and 'Going to California' I think are decent, but way too dull in comparition with the big tracks. Overall, a great album, but it never hit any emotional nerve, except for 'Stairway to Heaven'.
8/10 The only Led Zeppelin full album I like. The tracks are great and there isn't a Whole Lotta love anywhere to be seen. 9-8-2025
73/1001 Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV Heard before? ✅ Revisit? ✅ This album is absolutely stacked! It is rather front loaded, but regardless the quality doesn't diminish too much in the second half and When the Levee Breaks is a brilliant closer
We were driving through the hills in Albania and this was class music for it. I was bombing down the mountain to stairway to heaven
YES LAD
9/10
One of my favorite hard rock bands and arguably their best album. They have a bunch of folk influences, but they're one of probably two artists who managed to find a way not to bore me out with them (I just don't like anything folk-related, unless it's metal, for some reason). Stairway to Heaven probably has one of the best climaxes of any song, ever. That being said, although I think this album is great and I love it, it is pretty inconsistent. I feel like Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, and When the Levee Breaks are just way better than the rest of the songs on this album. I don’t think they’re bad or anything, but the average quality of songs here is not enough to reach the 9/10 territory. Like, this album is a roller coaster that has some songs that are groundbreaking in their catchiness, and the rest that is just solid but nothing special. Great riffs, great drumming, great vocals, but this album lacks a little bit of extra oomph for me.
never listened in full. great!
Just a great album I don’t have much to say that hasn’t already been said. Only giving it 4 stars because it didn’t change my world, but still a great listen.
This is the 7th album i've listened to. I love his album, just to start it out like that this is definitly what i wish to do when i use my guitar. I can see a lot of younger rock use this as a base when creating songs and being one of the first albums to do this is insane. I love all the instruments in this and I feel l like I could listen to a lot of these songs on loop. That said I cant give this that high of a score since the only song i could get attached to was stairway to heaven and rock and roll HQ. I will give this a 86/100
I love this album, its not my absolute favourite of Zep
Banger
Full of the classics, a great album
Dad- 5 Mom- 9 Mike- NA Lori- 8 Michael- 10 Miles- NA Cole- NA Avg- 8
Surely one of the greatest hard rock albums oat, still i can't find a reason to really enjoy listening to their songs
Pretty good stuff, I’m just not a Zeppelin guy.
7.5/10 Highlights: Stairway When the Levee Breaks Rock and Roll
It's weird to me that Led Zeppelin is considered one of the greatest rock bands of all time. I mean, not weird. I get it. Weird words, good music, tons of eccentricity, etc. And maybe this is even their masterpiece or whatever, but I don't seek out listening to them. It's great music, but it doesn't stick with me like I need it to to give it 5 stars. Perhaps that's a personal failing, which I accept.
Yes, it’s a classic but it’s also a little overrated
Impossible to not be familiar with most of this album, but never just listened to it straight through. Pretty good, though not as amazing as I hoped. Favorites were When the Levee Breaks and Stairway to Heaven. 8/10, 4 stars.
Good songs just got overplayed unfortunately.
This is a legendary album, probably mostly because of 'Stairway to Heaven' which I personally believe is a bit overhyped. It's a great track, but I don't think it holds up as "the greatest song ever written" as some want to make it out to be. The rest of the album is of a lesser quality and I don't think that's enough to carry the album to a 5/5 Standouts Black Dog Stairway to Heaven When the Levee Breaks 4/5
A must
Heard this before and it's a good album
pretty iconic, holds up and has a good universe around it. 4.25
Good album. 8.5/10
Just 1 or 2 song too short of a 5/5...but like all Zep Albums...pretty solid!
First 4 on this are pretty perfect. Soft spot for battle for evermore. Such a recognisable cover too
Hey hey mama said the way you uhh groove is uhh pretty umm pretty good. Those are the immortal words that open Led Zeppelin’s creatively titled 7th album, Led Zeppelin IV. The IV is of course referring to the intravenous euthanizing of the Black Dog to which this album is dedicated. Jimmy Plant, bassist for the group was noted as saying “that dog was big and got slobber on me loafers.” He was 43 years old. In that spirit of reciprocity and joyous memoranda, we take a closer look at the man carrying the stick pile and ask the question on all of our minds; could you bake a pie so delicious, it could be used to assassinate a deity? Just melt buddhas eyes with a strawberry rhubarb surprise. More at 11. Or is it 11:30? Stay tuned. Black Dog - If I haven’t heard this song a million times, I’ve heard it about 950,000 times. You may say “hey pal, that’s like 9 years of straight listening. How did you find the time?” I say “you weren’t in that cell in the Uzbek highlands. Guantanamo is a joke compared to the hell forged for me in those walls.” Rock and Roll - Hey this is that song about popular children’s game, “rock and roll.” In my village, we called it boulder crush. We usually lost a couple youngsters a year underneath the massive boulder that we rolled down the hill. We’d meet by ol’ “crushed innards mountain” and get to rollin. Of course, every week we’d have to pick a “Sisyphus.” “Not sis!” You’d say. The sisyphus was usually the one who was being lowered into the crypt by Friday. “Funeral Friday” we’d call it. We actually had a child coffin maker move into town. It was a real boon to several industries. The Battle of Evermore - This song is about that lawsuit where Paramore sued Evanescense and also that white rapper who did the song “What it’s Like.” All too similar. I believe the latter pair countersued with a new song called “Bring me to What it’s like.” It went “see the man at the liquor (can’t wake up) store begin’ for your litigation (won’t get sued).” It set revolutionary music media precedent in the Paraguayan courts. Stairway to Heaven - erm no thanks, I’ll take the Hellevator. Or is the Purgatory dumbwaiter still running? Those fuckers at OTIS really did it. Monopolizing the world’s floor traversal vehicles and then? the routes to the afterlife? Otis Worldwide President and CEO Judy Marks has outdone herself. Misty Mountain Hop - The dance craze sweeping the nation was predicted by the scribes of auld. Everybody using the social media juggernaut “tout” is doing the misty mountain hop. Just when you thought they’d never stop jitterbuggin, these crazy kids have moved on to the hop. Some say it’s brought on by some sort of neuropathic infection. I say? It’s brought on by love. And the power of Tout™️. Four Sticks - There are way more than four sticks on that guy. I’d guess there are AT LEAST 5. I will not let my intelligence be insulted further and it is at this point that I leave you. It’s been a wodnerful moth. Ddndjjr. It appears that I’ve been poisoned. I don’t have much time. I will finish the album, if not to complete my life’s work, but to at least nudge the fat cats at 1001albumsgenerator.com to begin providing safeguards for their noble reviewers. I shall die as a martyr for my hatred of U2. Don’t you, forget about me. I’m Going to California - Not California! I was sort of hoping we’d be going to Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. I need some warning next time. I had my sou’wester ready. I didn’t think you would take the southwest thing so seriously. When the Levee Breaks - Cold sweat beads into angered eyebrows. Those same brows that have been a staple on screens for years. A low growl shatters the silence outside the studio. “They cancel Schitt’s Creek?” A snide smile breaks across the face of the camo clad Canadian. “I cancel them.” “Damn I could’ve thought of a better quip;” thinks Eugene. Yes, this song is about a failed Eugene Levy workplace massacre. Ooh my exotic animal pelt dealer is here. I gotta go. He promised pangolins with unique markings. You must understand, I purchased a SUBLIME hippo pelt that currently makes up the seats in my 2003 KIA Rio. Yeah. You’d answer the door too. 4 HIGHLIGHTS: Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, Misty Mountain Hop, When the Levee Breaks.
If I could hear this album for the first time, every time it would probably be a guaranteed 4-5, but this album, like many in the early 70's has elements I am not a huge fan of.... extraneous mandolin, songs that go on too long, etc.. When I was 17 this would have gotten a 5 for sure, at 35 I would have given a 1. Now I give it a 4, mostly for the drums on "When the Levee Breaks" --- those are boss..
I went to the Isle Of Wight festival in 2002, mostly to see The Charlatans, Ash and The Coral. My friend John and I made our way gradually closer to the stage through the afternoon in order to be in the front for headliners, The Charlatans. The act immediately before them was Robert Plant. I knew very little about him but was informed he'd once been the singer of Led Zeppelin. When he took to the stage, a group of older guys asked us if we minded swapping places with them so they could be near the front for Robert Plant, and that they would then let us have the space back for The Charlatans. Sure. No problem. About halfway through his set, he told us he was going to play a song called Going To California, and the older guys went ballistic. With good reason; it was absolutely jaw-dropping. He had the audience in the palm of his hand and performed this delicate, beautiful number about a woman with 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘺𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 as the sun set over the horizon of the island. It would be a couple more years before I truly fell in love with Led Zeppelin but I appreciate now what a moment that was to treasure. At this point, it is one of my favourite songs of all time. The crazy thing about Led Zeppelin's fourth self-titled album is that it contains the classic Stairway To Heaven but there's an argument to be had that it's not even the best song on the album. This is an album which also features the awesome closer When The Levee Breaks, the barnstorming opener Black Dog and one of my other personal favourites - Misty Mountain Hop. It's also probably my fourth favourite Led Zeppelin album, lacking some of the bite on II and the joyous experimentation of Physical Graffiti. But when your discography is this solid, that still makes it a damned fine slice of rock music.
Nyt oli upeaa musaa!
Absolute classic!
It's Led Zep IV. The best Led Zep album. I loved this album. So why was I not excited to listen to it again. Maybe I'm just a bit tired of it? Don't get me wrong - it's a great album. It's an automatic 5. But I'm just not in the mood. Not like I was about 2112 or Selling England when those popped up. Should I just give it a 5 because really, deep down, I know it is? Or should I go with how I'm feeling right now after hearing all these tracks again for the umpteenth time??
Classic album, great variety with Stairwai to Haven to top it all off.
Classic bluesy rock
Really good! Would probably do 4.5
really awesome record. in only a few songs and less than an hour led zeppelin shows their ability to make really diverse soundscapes, specially for the time. some songs do fall flat compared to others, though, and for that it gets a high 3.5
loop zoop!!!!!!
Straight up classic rock and roll music 🎸
Still great
Just a little shy of 5/5, Very good album though
3.5 certainly has some classics
Never the great album people want it to be
I was expecting a little more from Stairway to Heaven I think, but I liked it.
I really liked this
Loved the guitar and vocals. Highlights were obviously, “Stairway” followed by “Going to California” and “When the Levee Breaks”.
Rated 74 on aoty july 17th 2025
I mean, yes. Yes?
All time classic
When this ripper of an album is only like the 4th best one out of their catalog, and it's this good, just wait until you hear Houses of The Holy, Physical Graffiti, and (unpopular opinion ahead) Presence. This is Led Zeppelin approaching their most incendiary. They keep their blues roots, but are branching out into new sounds, rhythms, and progressions. Not to be missed.
This list throws out a lot of Led Zeppelin albums. Rightfully so. Several standout tracks: Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven and When the Levee Breaks
I didn't realize how great this album was until I listened to it!
Enjoyed III more than I expected and this did not disappoint
Black Dog is up there for one of my favorite songs ever. Stairway to Heaven is alright.
It has some genuinely great songs, but I don't like all of them. The songs are too long and some are not good from start till finish. I can't stand the singing for the most part. Production is not as good as Deep Purple's. 5 stars for how influential it was, 3 stars for how much I like it. Favorite song: stairway to heaven.
I love Led Zeppelin. That being said, the quality of their hits vs their chaff is very noticable on this album, it's crazy that something like Four Sticks is followed up with When The Levee Breaks. Still a great album, but I know this isn't their best.
good songs on here for sure, but some of these are pretty boring and the good ones are kinda overplayed
An understandably good album
Classic led zeppelin, with the big hits.
I love Led Zeppelin, even not being my favourite album it's always good to listen to them
It’s always good to get the Led out. IV has some huge songs, but I think the bands best album is elsewhere.
4/5
Almost the perfect album with the wonderful 'California' standing out among all the 'elephants in the room' of classic popular songs. Almost? Any time I listen to this I skip 'Rock and Roll' - the strangest choice of an album track. I get its part of their influences (the theme of this Album) but it just does not flow.
Some very good songs in here, but also a few songs which do drag a little
The stand-out tracks to me are the album cuts. California, Evermore, and Levee are all amazing. I’ve never thought the singles were that strong, despite the “greatest of all time” status this album has always held. That said, I’ve heard these songs a billion times - with fresh ears, maybe I’m rating this higher.
Worth it for Stairway to Heaven, alone.
The Battle Of Evermore é bem bom, assim como Going To California e Misty Mountain Hop. Mas faltou algo para ser 5 estrelas.
fantastic
good
Absolute classic. No skips. Also, Beastie Boys maybe wouldn’t exist without this record.
Allein schon wegen "Stairway to heaven" hörenswert 4/5
Heat- ! Roadtrip shit, stoner shit, be most excellent to each other
Haven’t heard this album in years. I’d forgotten how great it is.
Classic. Many of the best rock songs ever.
3,5/5
I know Anete is going to hate me, but I can’t give this album a five because of “The Battle of Evermore”.
Good shit
Dropping a star for stairway to heaven.
It was really good. Didn't know some songs
YAY MY FIRST ZEPPELIN This isn't in my top 3, but solid album. Did I listen to it 3x today? Maybe... headphones, speakers, headphones again
4.5
good, but not quite there. most of the songs were all timers, but a couple were forgettable
Gros rock classique! Highlight: when the levee breaks et Four Sticks.
Some great Zeppelin songs appear on this album. Sound great together, much better than individually on the radio
1 extra star for levee
Great songs, good variety. Good times.
Stairway is great and everyone needs to accept that, despite that some of this album is meandering and directionless, 3.5*
mi tocca
The same ass problem with every led zeppelin, I think his singing might be more annoying on some of the songs on here. But the highs are sSOO good. that it could be the best one I've heard. The guitars and instrumentals are amazing, solos and riffs. But the screechy annoying singing ruins probably about half the songs here. He has a much better singing voice when he doesn't shriek (going to California intro). The more organic/acoustic instrumentation is really good and adds some variety. When people say stairway to heaven is the best song ever, I can't really complain, as it ticks all the boxes. Going to California is by FAR my favourite Led Zeppelin song. Favourite songs: Stairway to heaven, going to California, when the levee breaks. Better than II & III & Houses of the holy, but not by very much, they are all quite similar imo. Overall around 7/10
Going to California and When the Levee Breaks are two all-time faves.
UFFFFFFFFF EL INICIOOOOOO ROCK. gran descubrimiento
It’s Zeppelin IV, it’s rock solid. It’s tricky trying to give this a score because about half the songs on this album are absolutely five star, but if I’m being honest the other half just miss out of reaching that. It’s still incredible though, and maybe I’ve become a little burned out by listening to Zeppelin a ton when I was younger, but yeah, you know this is good.
