The backstory about this guy is really sad. It would have been interesting to hear his music had he lived longer. This particular album exhibits all the melancholy that apparently held a tight grip on him.

Not very good. His voice is kind of annoying, and the guitar feels out of place sometimes. Title track is pretty good, so as "Parasite." The lack of any back beat makes it feel empty.

This one just didn't really phase me. Which is quite sad, because the lyrics really are beautiful and the melodies and harmonics soothing, but everything is just so understated. Voice, delivery, instruments, composition, tone, .... This album feels like a beautiful picture, but undersaturated to a point that it looks almost black and white.

Strumming like Richie Havens. Not my favourite but someone who should have had many years ahead of them to grow their talent.

It didn't capture my attention at all. Useful as background music, but nothing else for me.

Jack Johnson guitar playing on lithium. Peter Gabriel vocals with zero emotion. Beautiful but dreadful. Not my thing. Reminds me of that one guy at the beach bonfire, high on acid, playing music that only 1 guy is listening to. Glad it was only 28 min long.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about. Some of the melodies are chilled and laid back but I'm not completely convinced of Nick Drakes voice. I find it a bit bland. The music has a certain atmosphere about it but the production is a bit, well, 70's and just a bit lacking.

Quite chill reminds me of parachutes Coldplay. All the songs kind of blend into one

This would've been alot better had I understood a single word sung at any point. I wanted to like it but if you mumble the whole time I don't know what to tell you. 4/10.

A bit too soft and whispery for my tastes. Definitely picked up on the second half. The stretch from Know - Free Ride were more dynamic.

This one gave me campfire vibes. Not necessarily a bad thing. To me it means that it can be put on for background noise in specific settings. I wanted to skip ahead to the next song but it would be the same damn guitar rhythm and tone with the next song. It felt like it never truly went anywhere. Over all as of right now I give it a 2.5 rating.

Not my style necessarily. I ended up zoning out in the middle and had to restart the album. However, his voice is wonderful & haunting and I enjoyed the title song.

So, this is like José González, before José González was even born?! It's very good so far, nice guitar playing and singing. Everything so far just seems to meander along nicely and then come to an abrupt end. Seems a bit strange, or I'm not listening right, it's been a funny day. Free Ride has stood out for me, I like the droning strings and then the sliding guitar stabby bits along with the vocals. Nice melody. It's a nice album, but nothing really happens, so I can't give it any more than 2 stars to stay consistent.

Super chill and laid back album. Rock vibes but on an acoustic guitar so it felt relaxing af. This is great background music. The bad part was none of these songs stood out to me except maybe the first one. This wasnt bad at all but just meh. Super short record. Cool cover doe 3/10

I thought this was very mediocre. The singing was not good, the lyrics felt uninspired, and the instrumentals sleepy and off-target. Reminded of a worst Nick Mulvey.

Personally not a fan of the vocal pitch matching the instrument pitch and the some of the melodies/riffs were unpleasantly basic. I'm sure it was meaningful in it's hay day but I'm quite possibly spoiled by the perfection of modern music this album lacks.

It's a little bit dull and lifeless. Doesn't exactly evoke any emotions in me. The odd track is fine on the soundtrack to a film, but a full album plodding along like thing is a bit uninteresting.

Acoustic-y singer song-writers aren't usually my thing, it really needs to be something special to grab my attention. Five Leaves Left, in all its breathless beauty, is such an album. For me, Pink Moon is not such an album. It's just too stripped back, too stark, frankly too dull. Drake's guitar playing is still fantastic but with the warmth of playing of the Five Leaves Left era completely absent, it leaves me cold. The tortured genuis, who may or may not have killed himself, will always be a tale that sells units. I do wonder if this album would simply be considered a side note in his career, a glorified demo, if he had lived to a ripe old age. It seems to me that in his passing, this album has been elevated from a career misstep to the last will and testament of a broken soul. He deserves to be remembered for better.

I just have a problem with "Sad Bastard" music. If it doesn't have a strong blues guitar behind the lyrics then it just sounds whiney as shit. It wasn't for me and I could not tell you if it belongs on the list or not.

Just a dude mumbling to his guitar. Liked the playing but not really feeling the vocals or the song writing. Probably one of those artists that if you discover them yourself you think they are great, but if someone tells you to listen to them you're not impressed.

Pleasant enough, nice guitar work. A little one note, similar tones of voice through the entire thing. Favorite track: "Place to Be"

No conocia al artista. La primera impresión es que tiene una onda Bob Dylan, muy de canciones de protesta post-hippies. Todas las canciones suenan bastante similar. Y el tono de la voz + guitarra un poco te duerme jaja. La cancion "Know" es la mas diferente de todas, suena como una especie de blues folk.

I see the appeal, I enjoyed the guitar fun in the background, but it just isn't my pace of music, and all the songs on the album were so similar to each other that I didn't like not being to easily differentiate between them.

Sparse folk almost solely centered on delicate acoustic guitar with occasional subtle piano, minimal arrangement, and soft, hushed, and emotionally restrained, almost detached vocals unfolds with quiet, fragile stillness. Listening feels like sitting alone in a dim room where each note lingers longer than expected. The result is haunting and yet I loose my focus fast as its restraint feels almost too slight.

I feel like I'm sitting in the college room of a Cambridge Arts student, listening to his limited repertoire and wanting him to hurry up to I can put a record on. Ok, is there anything interesting or inspiring about his guitar picking? No. So there's a big chunk of what we are listening to. Take the intro to Horn, it literally sounds like he's tuning up. His voice, langourous at best, but he ain't JJ Cale. It is stifling, suffocating, as in get me out of this guy's bedroom. What exactly is Know? How did that get recorded? The lyrics, not offensive but does he have something to say, as opposed to say Richard Buckner? No he does not. I'll happily sit outside the rock and roll zeitgeist on this one, it is not good in anyway. He can stay in his bedroom and keep strumming, I'm going to the pub for a lemonade and the jukebox.

Surprised this album is so highly touted. It's pretty much some simple acoustic lines with some muddled vocals. Not sure it stood out in any way as it sounded like anything that I could have heard at a coffee shop, college campus talent show, street corner busking or elsewhere. The context that he was a depressed independent musician does little to resonate with me as that appears to be closer to the status quo than otherwise. I didn't realize until checking just now that this was the 3rd Nick Drake album on the list. I enjoyed the prior albums for what they were as cozy indie folk albums but Pink Moon didn't hook me. I'd vote this one off personally to make way for another artist. At least it was short so not a huge investment. 1.47 stars

The best part of this album is that it is 28 minutes long. If Nick Drake were around now, he would be a Conan Grey knock-off. One of the unmemorable, soft-voiced singers that all sound the same. He is a gifted acoustic guitar player, but each song sounds nearly identical and is just sad and boring. 1

How many slow, drab, minimal talent folk rock acts are there on this list?!? I am just shy of 100 albums listened to and this is my 414th folk rock album. There is nothing about this album that I needed to hear. His vocals are fine but nothing to admire, the 2 cords of a guitar is lame and annoying, the complete lack of soul and any kind of rhythm is exhausting by the 3rd track. The somber strumming of the guitar seems very novice. This album is really just slightly elevated camp fire music. There is a reason I have never heard of Nick Drake - he's not very good. One redeeming quality for this album is it is only 28 minutes long. 2.8/10 98/1001

I suppose it's good Sunday morning background music but really it's nothing that catches my ear at all.

This is music you have to be in the mood to listen to. There is a time for stripped down acoustic music, but this didn't grab me as anything spectacular. The title track is ok, but the rest of the album to me was more of the same but less appealing.

I know much better in this genre who haven’t gotten near the recognition, have written many more songs with much better melodies; that don’t scream self pity, and are a far greater service to the world. 2.1mil monthly listeners on spotify is mind boggling.

This is the third time I’ve gotten a non- Simon and Garfunkel, Jack Johnson-like acoustical album from a 70s artist, and I have to say: what makes them each different? To me they sound virtually the same. We really could’ve just picked one of these artists and used their albums. Flip a coin for all I care, their albums all sound the same. If it ain’t S and G, then what’s the point? I get the feeling this isn’t the last one of this genre either. Shame.
