Reviews (page 15 of 15)

чувак с гитаркой.. nice

I think I may need to revisit this one later based on so many others' stellar reviews. It seemed like standard singer-songwriter fare, but probably deserves a second listen.

Trippy - decent.

2,5; amazing Pink Moon but the rest of the album is just ok

It's folk music. I did not care for it. Not sure why this made the list. No need to listen to it.

02/09/22

I just have a problem with "Sad Bastard" music. If it doesn't have a strong blues guitar behind the lyrics then it just sounds whiney as shit. It wasn't for me and I could not tell you if it belongs on the list or not.

Very chilled.

Bit boring.

Not really my vibe ;/

Overall very good album, though i have to say that’s not my type. I di think that every song are too similar and it pertubs me

Just a dude mumbling to his guitar. Liked the playing but not really feeling the vocals or the song writing. Probably one of those artists that if you discover them yourself you think they are great, but if someone tells you to listen to them you're not impressed.

Pleasant enough, nice guitar work. A little one note, similar tones of voice through the entire thing. Favorite track: "Place to Be"

Most interesting thing about this album is the artwork

I love the guitar work and simple production

Bit like Jeff Buckley

Udmærket, Donovansk, stille, jeff buckley, sing/songwriter, irriterende

Ok in background.

The album cover is super trippy and fun! The music was pretty forgettable.

Not for me. Droany and always on these lists.

Bit dull tbh.

Don't like his voice. I like the music as background music, but it's not my thing.

Melodic, yet melancholy. Nick's music is "rainy day" music.

Not INSPIRING

Un poco mejor que el pesado... Un poco

Definitivamente mejor que el anterior

Again. It was just fine. Don’t really get why pink moon has 96M listens but shout out the indie guitarists covering it

Too psychedelic for me

Meh. It was just a lot of some dude playing wonderwall with his college ID. I'm surprised at how many albums so far have been just meh.

folky, simple, tragic story about the artist, interesting they found success from the bands they inspired (the name of The Cure) and a VW commercial years later

folky nonsense, didn't really go anywhere but wasn't totally awful. 2/5.

He may be a good poet, but his playing and singing don't do anything for me except bore me to sleep.

Quite possibly the worst album ever written and should be called Stink Moon

Pink Moon - not my type of music I dont like the concept and structure of the song 2/10 Harvest Breed - like the lyrics though just 4 lines, very short 1972 Album not my taste All short songs

Absolutely not my style, but better than I expected it to be given that.

Such a beautiful name for an album but not my thing at all

The most not-for-me thing I’ve heard on 1,001 so far. Hated it.

Tämä oli aika puuduttavaa ja monotonista kuunneltavaa. Parasta oli levyn lyhyt kesto.

I see the appeal, I enjoyed the guitar fun in the background, but it just isn't my pace of music, and all the songs on the album were so similar to each other that I didn't like not being to easily differentiate between them.

Sparse folk almost solely centered on delicate acoustic guitar with occasional subtle piano, minimal arrangement, and soft, hushed, and emotionally restrained, almost detached vocals unfolds with quiet, fragile stillness. Listening feels like sitting alone in a dim room where each note lingers longer than expected. The result is haunting and yet I loose my focus fast as its restraint feels almost too slight.

I felt like i was listening to the same song all the album

Nope. Didn’t like it all.

Holy hell that was boring as shit.

Uninspired guitar strumming

lame³

Boring

boring

I don't really know about music techniques or anything so I can't talk about the quality of this album, but it's just not my style.

ME DORMI EN VIVO

this man does not sound in his twenties lol. it's really just boring and nothing sounds unique. Know is just made up of the same guitar cord progression that repeats over and over again for 2 minutes straight. i know (haha) a lot of songs do this but its super noticeable and annoying in this song in particular because there isn't any other interesting instruments or vocals happening along it. fav song: Things Behind The Sun

I feel like I'm sitting in the college room of a Cambridge Arts student, listening to his limited repertoire and wanting him to hurry up to I can put a record on. Ok, is there anything interesting or inspiring about his guitar picking? No. So there's a big chunk of what we are listening to. Take the intro to Horn, it literally sounds like he's tuning up. His voice, langourous at best, but he ain't JJ Cale. It is stifling, suffocating, as in get me out of this guy's bedroom. What exactly is Know? How did that get recorded? The lyrics, not offensive but does he have something to say, as opposed to say Richard Buckner? No he does not. I'll happily sit outside the rock and roll zeitgeist on this one, it is not good in anyway. He can stay in his bedroom and keep strumming, I'm going to the pub for a lemonade and the jukebox.

Holy fuck this sucked ass. See, this is why I hate white men with guitars. They all think they’re so cool. With songs so bad it inspired me to make a playlist of the worst songs I hear during the completion of this list. Thanks Know by Nick Drake, it was that bad. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for this idk, it irritated me though. Cool album cover though, what a let down.

I can't get into it and his voice is not my cup of tea.

Absolutely not my type of music

1.0 it started at a boring point and didn't move even an inch.

It was basically the same song thrpughout the album. Suitible good for background music when writing

can't stand this idiot, can stand this album

Nope! Wasn’t feeling that one.

L Folk

This guy is the 2nd worst Drake

Musik hat keinen Wiedererkennungswert. Es ist ein ruhiges Album mit Gitarrenklängen.

Elevator music for me. Probably wouldn't listen again.

Not great

listened to two songs and wasn’t for me ultimately - was this man saying real words??

His dull, flat miserable voice really got on my nerves. What a doleful dirge of an album.

This is total nothingness. Bland voice, bland guitar. I've also had more tuneful farts than 'Know'. I could just tell before looking at the Wiki that he offed himself. Miserable.

Nothingburger. His vocals are so bland. At least Bryter Layter had some nice orchestral instrumentals

Lowkey dull.

Surprised this album is so highly touted. It's pretty much some simple acoustic lines with some muddled vocals. Not sure it stood out in any way as it sounded like anything that I could have heard at a coffee shop, college campus talent show, street corner busking or elsewhere. The context that he was a depressed independent musician does little to resonate with me as that appears to be closer to the status quo than otherwise. I didn't realize until checking just now that this was the 3rd Nick Drake album on the list. I enjoyed the prior albums for what they were as cozy indie folk albums but Pink Moon didn't hook me. I'd vote this one off personally to make way for another artist. At least it was short so not a huge investment. 1.47 stars

Forgetable.

The best part of this album is that it is 28 minutes long. If Nick Drake were around now, he would be a Conan Grey knock-off. One of the unmemorable, soft-voiced singers that all sound the same. He is a gifted acoustic guitar player, but each song sounds nearly identical and is just sad and boring. 1

a little too slow, and not feeling the songs

I see a lot of people like this. I'm not one. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for sad music? IDK, but didn't make it through this one.

How many slow, drab, minimal talent folk rock acts are there on this list?!? I am just shy of 100 albums listened to and this is my 414th folk rock album. There is nothing about this album that I needed to hear. His vocals are fine but nothing to admire, the 2 cords of a guitar is lame and annoying, the complete lack of soul and any kind of rhythm is exhausting by the 3rd track. The somber strumming of the guitar seems very novice. This album is really just slightly elevated camp fire music. There is a reason I have never heard of Nick Drake - he's not very good. One redeeming quality for this album is it is only 28 minutes long. 2.8/10 98/1001

Not my cup of tea

I suppose it's good Sunday morning background music but really it's nothing that catches my ear at all.

The album sounded a lot more modern than I expected, kinda like a popular indie band would. Unfortunately, it wasn't my vibe at all - it was too slow.

A big MEH.

Forgettable.

I don't like this song because of the beat. I would not recommend this song. I don't like this long because it is giving me sad vibes. I would not recommend this song. I don't like this song because it is sad. I would not recommend this song.

i dont like it the guy sounds weird and because of the beat . the second song was bad to i dont like the beat . the third one was boring i do not reccomend this album

I don't like it it sounds deppressing and I don't really like deppressing songs the second song I also don't like its not a song I would listen too and its not something I would add to my playlist the third song I also dont like its not something I would listen too

da first song is alr its lowk good n bad buh the lyrics r js confusing oms like hello? buh da background music is good nd the instruments r good its like 50 50.

Fuck rating albums. Just let me listen.

A bit too slow for me to enjoy properly

Reading Wikipedia, his friends say at the end of his life, he often had a blank stare…which is exactly what I had while listening to this album. It just didn’t do it for me. 1001 album worthy: no - 68/127

Deathly dull. Why people love this I cannot even begin to comprehend. Ugly cover too.

All these songs sound the same, and they aren't very good. Bleh.

First few songs held up for me listening on a bright and sunny morning, but then I got bored with each successive track.

guitar is annoying reminds me of my ex

Yet another horrible album on this awful list.

boring singer songwriter droll, some songs have a decent vibe but thesinging is abysmall only one decent track in the middle of the album but it also gets lowkey ruined by singing in the middle (things behind the sun) NNN

Music to slit your wrist by

Boring boring snoring

Shit. Bored during an album thats only half and hour is some accomplishment. Well done Nick Drake. Boring dude.

Boring amateur sounding. This was really bad. It was annoying and had a weird feel to it. 1.25/5.

I now know the backstory, but I can only judge it on how I like the album. Whilst it’s simple singer songwriter stuff with a beautiful acoustic guitar, I just found it so dull. Not something I’d reach for to play again.

Do not like at all but place to be is quite nice. Break up road trip vibes. But this is winey af

1.5 Lets just say if I was at a toga party and Nick Drake was singing and playing guitar on a staircase, I would be smashing that guitar.

One word. Dreary!

i’m sorry but i didn’t see what was so amazing about this album that i had to hear it before i died. nick drake is talented, but i could’ve died happy whether i listened to this or not.

Dreary. Wouldn't listen to again.

Neutral milk hotel started playing afterwards and I couldn't tell the difference

I cannot stress enough how much Nick Drake absolutely bores me

Nicht meine Richtung

Boring…

his voice is too breathy or something. the guitar style is not my thing. I'll pass

i dont like folk rlly

there is just something about Pink Moon and I that is fundamentally incompatible. i have never been able to come remotely close to wrapping my head around what the appeal is. it's just so dreary and boring to me, no matter how many shots I've given it over the years. i like bryter layter but this just drives me crazy happy for everybody that loves and appreciates Nick Drake, but that will never be me

potworny zamulacz

Olemme eri taajuuksilla. Vääränlaista värähtelyä aiheuttaa melkeinpä kaikki sävellyksistä lauluääneen. Harmi.

This is music you have to be in the mood to listen to. There is a time for stripped down acoustic music, but this didn't grab me as anything spectacular. The title track is ok, but the rest of the album to me was more of the same but less appealing.

I know much better in this genre who haven’t gotten near the recognition, have written many more songs with much better melodies; that don’t scream self pity, and are a far greater service to the world. 2.1mil monthly listeners on spotify is mind boggling.

Annoying. All sound the same.

s.s., 1972

This guy beats puppies with his music

nah. not my cup of tea

What a snooze fest.

I did not vide with this album at all. I liked the guitar but I think I didn’t like his voice. Maybe it was a bit too simple or maybe I don’t have a good ear for music lol

not my cup of tea. probably a good album to others but I don't like it

Not really much of a folk person Beautiful words though

Sorry not a fan.

Struggled to get into this one.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Boring dull not very appealing. These "classics" are not really up my alley.

This is the third time I’ve gotten a non- Simon and Garfunkel, Jack Johnson-like acoustical album from a 70s artist, and I have to say: what makes them each different? To me they sound virtually the same. We really could’ve just picked one of these artists and used their albums. Flip a coin for all I care, their albums all sound the same. If it ain’t S and G, then what’s the point? I get the feeling this isn’t the last one of this genre either. Shame.

Too boriiiing

Singing with his eyes shut. Skip.

I don’t really ‘get’ this. The songs don’t speak to me and the music doesn’t grab me at all. Sounds like someone practicing guitar and humming along at one point (Know).

boring

Had to abandon halfway through

Belle +Sebastian vibes. Low-key singer/songwriter. Nice to hum along to.
