Such a comforting voice this album feels like a hug Favourite song: Armistice day - the little guitar shuffle and the woo-ooo-oooh
There are so many emotions in this record there are moments that feel filled with hope and joy sandwiched with songs of intense pain and struggle Favourite songs: Between the Bars and 2:45am Alameda lyric: “Nobody broke your heart you broke your own because you can’t finish what you start”
An assault on the earbuds and beautiful contrast of hard and soft Heresy Lyric: “god is dead and no one cares” Instrumental on A Warm Place made me feel very emotional Favourite songs: Closer and Hurt
Hooked from the first notes Songs don’t outstay their welcome Experimental sounds British sound also Indian and Motown Favourite song: Eleanor Rigby
Felt a bit flat to me but can see that it’s a solid new wave album which isn’t my thing Favourite song: Just what I needed (is it a murder song?!?)
Queen have such a definitive sound you always know it’s their track It’s so dramatic I always feel like the albums are mini musicals Dear Friends is so beautiful I think I want it at my funeral Favourite song: Now I’m Here and Stone Cold Crazy
Jazz Master! I don’t listen to a lot of jazz but this was phenomenal - part 3 was my favourite.
I didn’t realise they made so little music before Ian Curtis died. It’s super moody gloomy music I think it went on a bit after the first couple of songs but then picked up again at Twenty Four Hours Therapy? did a cover song of Isolation but also had some lyrics from the first song too - I had no idea it was cover until today 🤣 Favourite song: Twenty Four Hours
Peter Gabriel - So I am immediately transported to the 80s! The definitive sound of a decade. Favourite track: Don’t Give Up
Funky and mad
70s at its core but nothing really stands out for me most of the album “Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole” Favourite track: Pablo Picasso (the only song I really enjoyed)
I felt instantly relaxed by this album Favourite song: Key to the Highway and Layla
This album it feels like home. It doesn’t feel like individual songs as much as a piece of music that is supposed to be heard all together. I really like the range of instruments and sounds used throughout. Like an indie symphony. “I’m not broke so please don’t mend me” “There’s no use feeling all the things I’m feeling. There’s no one here to feel with me.” “Please don’t leave me wanting more I hope you never die There’s no need to say more Just promise that you’ll try” Favourite song: Epitaph
Hells to the yes! Kings of hip hop. Creation of the mainstream hip hop rock collab. Love how they can have really fun tracks and also ones with a poignant message and both seem genuine representations of them as people. Favourite song: You Be Illin
Iconic sound of the 60s the guitars sound effortlessly cool Favourite song: Sunshine of Your Love
Immediately familiar - sounds like the soundtrack to a 90s film. I kinda find this album a very generic sound though so nothing really stands of it or inspires me particularly.
This whole album gives me creepy groomer vibes and an unsettling sound throughout “ There'll be times When my crimes Will seem almost unforgivable I give in to sin” “Will you give it to me Will you take the pain I will give to you Again and again” All of Behind the Wheel onwards. Ick.
Her voice is magical and there is an unapologetic confidence to everything she does. Immediate negative points for Jay-Z says breastesses. Overall it’s fine. Nothing stood out as incredible or terrible for me. Also I love creativity and the idea of a visual album but it’s almost explained like the music can’t speak for itself. Favourite song: Heaven
We can’t ignore the fact this opens with one of the most iconic songs of all time. Leading into Crippled Inside is great - addressing mental health with the humour many of us do. Love the prison blues vibe of It’s So Hard. The combination of politics and mental health is so relevant to how we are constantly having challenges around news consumption today. Oh My Love could seem like a harsh contrast but it feels like we need a breather after the last couple of tracks so it works. Favourite song: Imagine
Classic punk good vibes throughout especially when listening on a sunny afternoon in Camden Favourite song: London Calling
