Reviews (page 8 of 8)

new wave meets a glam rock sound that just... isn't good didn't really enjoy listening to this at all...

I hate everything about this. 0/5

The 1001 curators love their 70’s, but theatrical glam rock with operatic falsetto and cheeky lyrics just annoys me.

I tried to, but I couldn't finish the album.

Not my cuppa.

46/1089 This Town Ain’t Big Enough For The Both Of Us and i’ll be the one to leave… 💀 really not a fan of this type of singing/cadence personally but i’ll appreciate it where i can The album just isn’t for me, seeing past personal taste i can understand why people love/like this but I just couldn’t get into it. Barbecutie, however, was a decent one that i enjoyed (perhaps because it had the least falsetto in it) 1 star or 18/100

mid-70s art-pop... 💩💩💩💩💩

I am not surprised by the choice of this album by the creators of the list. However, for the rest of us normal people that are not into that general appreciation for whatever that album was would see it as just sound. I don’t get it and I don’t appreciate music that way to understand it. My girlfriend and I was ecstatic the moment that the album ended and in her words she dissociated from it. Never will listen to that album again.

Never listened to much of their songs outside of a fringe hit or two in the 80's. They always felt too out there and odd to enjoy, I don't like tongue in cheek rock much. Fairly well listened to album but if the lead song, "This Town Ain't Big Enough..." (22M listens) is the most popular I don't think this one is gonna leave a lasting imprint on my brain. It's creative and frenetic but a bit too avante garde for my palate. It felt like a musical or an ensemble stage production to me. Lots of layers and catchy at times but not the kind of catchy you just sit around and enjoy. I felt like the pace and rhythm were the same all the way through and that all the songs resembled the previous one. It made me anxious, it was unrelenting. I will say there is some standout guitar work on the entire album. I have no idea how this album made the Top 1001. I can't even fathom why. It has no hits, no influence that I'm aware of, no radio songs, no one says "gosh I love Sparks", nothing - no reason to be listed here. I didn't enjoy this even a little bit. 1 star

Nope. finishing this album should make you eligible for saint status.

It insists upon itself.

2 Songs in, ist es mir zu crazy.Tiny Tim Energy. Here in Heaven ist cool.

Couldn’t finish, very little glam rock is my thing. Unfortunately a painful 4 songs but maybe I don’t have character

no thanks

Despite its cult acclaim, Kimono My House misses the mark entirely. The albums theatrical glam rock sound is so cringey in moments, that it almost hurts. This record, and the band itself tbh, feel more like a novelty gimmick than an album worthy of an essential listen. rating: ⭐️ [9/100]

Don’t like. 1

Not really digging it. I don't really like Glam Rock anyway, and this definitively wasn't doing anything for me.

I watched the documentary about this band and ended it with a deep dislike for them. This album didn't change my mind. As with the music I heard in the documentary, they sound like a worse version of bands I like.

I’m not exactly sure what I just listened but I can tell you it wasn’t good music. It’s like Sparks threw a bunch of ideas at the wall — falsetto vocals, glam rock riffs, weird theatrical flair — and somehow decided to keep all of them, even the bad ones. The whole thing feels like a joke I wasn’t in on. The songs are all over the place, the vocals are borderline unbearable, and nothing sticks. It’s chaotic in a way that’s more annoying than interesting, like being trapped in a musical written by aliens trying to imitate Earth pop culture.

Can't stand this one.

Sounds like some hyperactive theater kids forgot to take their ritalin and made a glam rock album. 1.5 stars.

That was so annoying. I am not a Chappell Roan fan, pretentious-ass, but she’s so much more tolerable than this.

No me gustó en nada.

i am going to give ever mediocre britpop/britrock album on the rest of this book a 1 out of contempt and little else

Chato hein

im really not a huge queen fan at the end of the day, and this basically amplified all the parts of queen that i dislike. its not that i dont get what its going for, i just dislike it.

oh man, I just found this album annoying. Probably cruel to give it my first one star as I'm sure much worse will follow, but I just got nothing from this and two stars seems too generous. vocals were more annoying than anything I've ever heard.

Alternative 1974. It’s like Phantom of the Opera meets Queen with screaming guitars and not in a good way

Nicht meine Richtung

Not my style. Reminds me of Kate Bush

Terrible

I never heard of this band. The album sounds like Abba crossed with a upbeat soap-opera theme from a japaneese sit-com. It's so freeking playfull and weird. Kinda reminds me of the swedish glamrock band The Ark. I appreciated the listen, but im not sure if i'm ever gonna listen to the album again.

This 70’s pop really isn’t for me. I just got through it.

Feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading all these 5 star reviews. Did we listen to the same album? Cause this was just pure torture. Not a single redeemable thing to be found in this album, everything just suuuuucks.

It's different, but not in a good way.

Not for me

I know absolutely nothing about this album or group going in. I understand the talent in this group and I did give it a good honest listen but this just isn't my thing.

What the fuck.

Not my thing. . . at all.

NO 1⭐️

Just not my thing at all

It was like a bad mix of David Bowie and Queen, resulting in music that sounded like bad/bizarre show tunes.

1/5. Absolute racket. What's going on there?

Couldn't stand this one!

Painful. Extremely painful

Oj. Men sången sabbar, jättemycket. Irriterande. Är det falsetto? I princip olidligt.

1001 Albums has some terrible music, sifting through the 10 garbage albums to find 1 diamond. Even the name of this is dumb.

No. Its too confusing

What even is this?

That was painful.

Niks voor mij

Ekan biisin jälkeen toivekas olo!!!! PASKAA PASKAA PASKAA harmi.. japanilaisiin ehdin ihastua..

New Artist! Not for me! 1/5

Couldn’t get past the second song. Hated what I heard.

A very unique album. Did not enjoy this one very much and was hoping it would end. The two singers have a distinct sound and I’d imagine you either like it or don’t. The instrumentals were okay. Sometimes I felt the sounds enjoyable but overall it felt a bit dated and generic. 2.7/10

More 70s crap.

Mostly a bunch of noise.

I have written a haiku: Mael may have done well But glam rock is not my rock So I bid farewell

So annoying I wanted to die.

didnt really get it

First listen. Wish it was my last. Oh this is a painful album to listen to. It isn't good. I don't get it. I really gave this album a chance... I can't say that I enjoyed even one song. For me, this is 1/5.

Did not enjoy. Weird rock, sounded like Queen at times. Very difficult to undwerstand any of the vocals, it was all very high pitched.

Didn’t like it

My God! I can't believe how many of the albums on this list are absolutely unbearable! I forced myself to listen to the entire album because I feel bad giving a low rating without hearing the whole thing but I will never get back the time I wasted on this noise.

I don't like it

not in the mood

Glam rock, did not enjoy

Muy como vivir en un musical

Did not like the vocals at all

Ouvir
