Completely satisfying album: it's got the punk, it's got the tunes, it's got sophistication. And I don't mind is simply irresistable.
Not bad, definitely more poppy than other punk I've listened to, which is kind of nice. However, I don't really see the appeal in this album. It's kind of just another album, nothing amazing going on here.

A quick note about Buzzcocks: given that the compilation *Singles Going Steady*, originally released in the UK, was also the first record Pete Shelley and his band released in the US, I consider it as a full-blown album that should definitely be on this list. I understand why Dimery and co. used a different rationale, and so needed to include their debut album there instead, for example (I wonder if they included *Love Bites* as well--you know, the one with "Ever Fallen In Love..." ). But to me, the case of Buzzcocks is more simply dealt with if you use that legendary collection of singles to show how pivotal this band was. Not that "Another Music In A Different Kitchen" is bad, it's still excellent punk rock with sardonic pop sensibilities. It's just that it's a notch under the incredible tracklisting of *Singles Going Steady*. Number of albums left to review: 539 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 221 Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 108 (including this one--but you can be sure "Singles Going Steady" will be there!) Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more essential to me): 133
This is a superb punk album. I like the story about Pete & Howard travelling far to see the Sex Pistols, and afterward deciding this was what they had to do. The songs definitely have punch, the energy is high, the beat faster (than the SP), the guitar riffs are relentless and Pete Shelly's voice is made for punk and slightly reminiscent of Mr. Rotten.
Of all the Brit punk rockers I think Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto were two of the most talented musicians and they wrote some crackers eg Orgasm Addict, Oh Shit, What do I get and Whatever happened to. Unfortunately those songs are only available as bonus tracks on a subsequent release and aren't on this album. This being their debut is a bit more raw without the catchiness of the four tracks above so it gets dinged a bit. It would easily get 4 stars from me if it had those other tracks.

Seminal Manchester Punk. It has a vibrancy and energy that was common at the time. Let's face it though the musicianship and lyrics aren't the best but tell that to the kids in the front row pogoing around....
Don't know anything really about the Buzzcocks, other than knowing who they are, and knowing that they're in a genre that I don't rarely listen to. It's nice to hear. It's a good listen. But, Punk is not much of a genre that I attract to.
This is music I would've hated if I'd ever had a boyfriend who listened to it, but then would listen to five years after we broke up.

I really wanted to like this album, but it was too similar all the way through, and the tinny, trebly production didn’t do it any favours.
29th March 2023 Listened during the day while hungover in the office. Drove mum home and got back late. The whole album buzzes through driven by strumming guitars and pounding drums. 3.5 if I could.

What a set of songs. A thrilling slab of punk pop brilliance, showing that 'only' three chords could still be fun. Pretty much a perfect album from beginning to end: the lyrics, the melodies, the voice, the sound. Peerless.
I want to have Fast Cars played at mny funeral: "I HATE FAST CARS." They'll probably be the death of me, actually. There's some great melodies and harmonising here. It's on par with the Beach Boys. Seriously.

Here comes another punk album, though I kind of enjoyed this one more than the last one. Maybe because it sort of sounded like rock. Either way, it felt similar to a lot of other bands on here. Props to these guys calling themselves the Buzzcocks, I guarantee it was the fella on the far right's idea, he looks like a stinker. Hell they all do.
Eh. Not doing much for me. I was really hopeful with that opening track, that has a great riff and high energy. The energy persisted, but the instrumentals were a bit too fuzzy for my liking, hard to find riffs or melodies that stuck out to me. A couple here and there, but often it sounds like all the instruments are being played in a blender. I don't hate it, but I don't much like it either. Favorite tracks: Fast Cars, Moving Away from the Pulsebeat (really just the final portion), I Need. Album art: Sharp lines and sans serif text, off center small picture. Seems like '90s textbook or something to me, so I guess they're ahead of their time in one respect. I do like the name Buzzcocks, pretty funny. But cover is about as bland as the music. And the title's spot on, in that it just another album made by another British group I'll forget about in a week. 2.5/5
Yes its true The Buzzcocks are and always will be a singles band. Bt it doesn't mean they can't carry a full album and the do on this quite well, thank you very much. They stretch out nicely on songs like Sixteen and especially \moving Away From the Pulsebeat. You can see quite clearly that one thing that set Buzzcocks apart from others of their peers - hese guys can play. And they can write some excellent sonfs too. 4 stars

I’m trying to put my finger on what exactly it was that was off putting for me. I would say the vocals were on the verge of annoying. Not sure if it was pitch or what. Just wasn’t enjoyable as a whole either. 1

Another 70's British punk band, huh? Someone has a type. I'm a fan of this genre - I am - but this one felt lazy and sloppy. All the songs sound like the first "songs" I wrote when I picked up a guitar at 14 years old.
Smarter and more fun than much Punk. Generally in the sweet spot for my tasted in this genre.
First time listening. Is it fair to say that this is among the roots of pop punk? Catchy with an edge...just accessible enough to non-punk enthusiasts, but without having to sacrifice its authenticity. Rock solid consistency from start to finish, especially the closer. No question that my favorite track here is "Moving Away From the Pulsebeat".
3.7 - Some fun, hard-charging guitar riffs with androgynous vocals. But I’d struggle to identify this in a lineup with other UK/Aussie punk outfits from the 70’s. Highlights: “Fast Cars”, “Love Battery”, “Moving Away From the Pulsebeat”

Standard punk - absolutely nothing original or innovative. I can see no reason for this being in the 1001 list. Punk is no more than OK at best, and this is average so it gets all of 2 stars.

With Buzzcocks beautiful blend of posi punk and British wit we get a truly fantastic debut. Creating a sound they'd later perfect and a brand that would last for over 4 decades. Their roots are here and those roots are checker boarded and ready to take the dance floor. As much a pop band as punk would get to that point.
Every track sounds like an embryonic version of "Ever Fallen in Love With," apart from one where the swear a lot.

Fun, fast, juvenile, punk. It does miss that extra spark though.
I keep thinking this record is called “Another Music in a *Distant* Kitchen”. I kind of like that title better. ANYWAY… “Different Kitchen” is the Buzzcocks first full length record following the release of a handful of seminal UK punk 7-inches. By and large, this record is a continuation of the sound of those singles. However, the band wisely opens up their sound a bit in their first studio outing, by way of thoughtful studio experimentation and a *gasp* 7 minute closing track… Who do these guys think they are? Television? German psych legends Can might actually be a better reference point. The ‘Cocks explosive sense of rhythmic repetition and the Michael Karoli-esque guitar leads throughout the record are indebted (and, from my understanding, in homage) to Can. It’s further proof that Can should be ranked among the all-time greatest bands in rock history: their influence on modern music was not only immediate and wide ranging, but continues to this day. Sorry for the detour, I’ve got a krautrock problem. The Buzzcocks are in top form on “Another Music in a Different Kitchen”. Their songs are concise and catchy with a chaotic experimental bent that sets the band well above many of their contemporaries in the 70’s UK punk scene.
Early punk. Much more coherent than the Sex Pistols and it just sounds like they had a lot of fun making this record. No standout songs for me.

First time listening to the Buzzcocks and to me, this is punk rock. Most songs under 3-3.5 minutes, loud, fast and in your face. Have to say, fun and upbeat, but a little repetitive at times. At first, I thought the singer was a girl. He wasn't. Favorite songs include Fiction Romance, What do I get? and Oh shit.... Strangest/most uncomfortable song, Orgasm Addict. Perfect song to have a co-worker walk in and ask, WTF? Overall, fun and upbeat. Liked some and some sounded the same, but generally enjoyed. 2.5 for me. Liked because it was new to me, but not sure I would go back and listen again.
5 Buzzcocks are definitely one of my favorite English punk bands. There’s something about the pace and production of this music that is almost addictive to listen to. This album has almost all of my favorites by Buzzcocks, too. This is the kind of album that reminds me of exactly why I love punk music.
3 While I love a good punk album, Buzzcocks have never been my favorite outfit of the genre. They have a few songs I really like, but having now listened to an album of their lesser known stuff, I stand by my initial thoughts on the band. While every song has that early punk energy and attitude we all know and love, there’s nothing particular of note in any individual song, and despite the group riding a musical wave defined by counterculture and protest, it doesn’t feel like much is being said here. I would rather just listen to Singles Going Steady - I feel like I can get the full Buzzcocks experience I need from that album, and I would urge any other skeptics to do the same. Honestly, I think it’s likely we didn’t get that album instead because the listmakers didn’t want to include compilations, which is fair, but in this case it feels like an unfortunate oversight. Favorite songs: I Don’t Mind, Get On Our Own, I Need

Generic 70s punk
This is the debut studio album from Buzzcocks. I've heard the band name before, but never listened to any of their music. This summer I listened to an episode of The Ongoing History of New Music Podcast where Alan Cross, the host, was talking about the beginnings of punk rock. In the UK, Buzzcocks were very important in the increase in popularity or this genre. They were right up there with The Sex Pistols and The Clash. Pete Shelley, unlike those other two bands I just mentioned, wrote more polished material, and the music played by the band felt more thought out. It was still hard and fast, but it at least had a direction. This album covered topics that adolescents considered important, such as sex, romance, and hating things (lol). There is one song where Shelley, I believe, is referring to his cock as a "love battery".... "I got this crazy current that slips through my underwear, and when it really connects, I come and go everywhere". Overall, a great album, and an interesting look at the beginnings of punk in the UK. Favourite songs: Love Battery, You Tear Me Up, Get On Our Own, I Don't Mind, Fast Cars, No Reply Least favourite songs: Sixteen, Moving Away From The Pulsebeat (a 7 minute punk song is just wrong) 4/5
71/100: This was like a slightly less abrasive version of the Sex Pistols, which means I liked this better than the Sex Pistols; however, that's a relatively low bar. This was a pretty good album, but it got repetitive and a bit boring by the end. Probably won't listen again.

Decent early punk music but probably won’t go back
So, as Simon well knows I've never been very good at doing my musical homework. If I was, I might have listened to these guys sometime after becoming (and remaining) a fan of the early albums from The Offspring & to a lesser extent Green Day. As it is, I'm happy to start catching up now, and intrigued with this album that seems to be poised right on the cusp between the "original/classic punk" sound and the emerging punk-pop that these guys evidently helped to pioneer. Good stuff...but two listens was enough for me. 3.5 stars.
What a pleasure to hear this album again. When I want to hear the Buzzies I usually just throw on Singles Going Steady. I guess I always thought of them as being a singles band. But this, their debut album, proves that theory wrong. I listened to the original vinyl eleven tracks and 36 minutes of joy. Fast Cars is a brilliant, breakneck opening track. No Reply ( the title of a Fab4 classic)opens with a repeating ring-tone that Blondie would copy later in 1978 on Hanging On The Telephone. Pete Shelley almost yodels his way through Get On Our Own. Sixteen ends Side One with the conclusion that only older folk could possibly enjoy disco - No disco / No being twenty wo wo wo one. Every track on Side 2 is great, particularly Fiction Romance & Autonomy. Even the almost 6-minute long closer, Moving Away From The Pulsebeat, is terrific. Essentially an instrumental (only 2 sung verses), it gives the band a chance to go for it, and the guitarists & drummer John Maher don’t disappoint. I did eventually see the band at The Marquee Club in Sydney in early 1990. They were terrific. My clear memory of that night is that the support act, Falling Joys, were so much louder than Buzzcocks. I don’t think volume was necessary. They were a pop band. But they were a great pop band.
Oh, yeah, this hits the spot. I saw the Buzzcocks at Selina's in early 1990. I though they were soooooo old (Pete Shelley was 34 at the time), but they really tore it up. They blasted out a blistering set of melodic punk with an energy level that 19 year old me found hard to keep up with. If I am going to listen to the Buzzcocks, I usually listen to the compilation Singles Going Steady, because the Buzzcocks had a great way with singles, so I am not familiar with this, their first full album (except Fast Cars and I Don't Mind). But, wow, all killer, no filler on this album. I love the energy, and there are some cracking tunes. This goes on my "must buy" list. The reissue version that I listened to had Orgasm Addict and What Do I Get as bonus tracks, which really pushed this in 5 star territory for me.

I'm a huge punk fan, and this is fairly good punk. I'm not too into the classic punk bands/sound but The Buzzcocks are pretty good.
Favourite track(s): Get On Our Own This album, even in its remastered version, sounds so polished but at the same time so unbelievably amateurish. Like a collection of tracks which were drawn up by a bunch of guys in their garage who really enjoyed aggressive guitar riffs and shouty, repetitive vocals with a "message". Funny how they obviously influenced bands like Billy Talent or The Hives, which I used to listen to quite frequently. Still, this seems very unrefined and, to me, is not enjoyable.
A decent Britpop/rock LP. Don’t know if any of these tracks will stick with me through the end of the week, but they were at least a joy to listen to in the moment

I liked this album. Never heard of the Buzzcocks before but they have that enjoyable 80s/new wave sound and I will definitely listen to them more in the future. Nothing else to really cover as this album is good, but not anything special.

Best track = I Don't Mind
Of all the original punk bands, Buzzcocks wrote the absolute best singles, that's just a fact. Apart from the Damned's New Rose. So, none of those singles are included here because it's those days when you did that. There's still some great thrusting bangers here, but initially I was itching for the hits. Then side b kicks in and you know why they let the album stand on its own, fantastic. Will be giving it repeat listens.

7/9/2022 - ALBUM #163 Today's Album: "Another Music In A Different Kitchen" by Buzzcocks - I hold a very similar opinion to this album than I do to the last album I reviewed, Mott by Mott the Hoople, with one key difference: The vocals are pretty unenjoyable throughout a majority of this album. Now, I think that an album isn’t completely defined by it’s vocals and can shine outside of a poor singing performance, and I think there are many moments where this record is able to achieve a level of greatness, but it is a common occurrence for me to feel like a song on this album is completely unlistenable because a large chunk of it is tainted with this whiney british vocal. I also think that there is a noticeable lack of instrumental variety on this album, with many tracks feeling indistinguishable from each other. The album probably shines the most when it steps out of the stiff and stale grooves to show off one of the instrumentalists with a solo, which alone aren’t enough to save any of the individual songs, but at least while they’re happening, you’re almost able to forget that the rest of the track is as boring as it is. I think there are a lot of solid ideas here and maybe it’s important for the broader evolution of this kind of punk rock, but I just feel like as an album listen top to bottom, it doesn’t really bring anything impressive to the table and ends up blending into wallpaper. Overall, this is a pretty energetic and jammy punk rock album, but it doesn’t really leave me feeling like I got anything out of it. Give this one a listen if you really like early punk rock and jammy guitar riffs, but be warned it doesn’t offer a ton in terms of a single solid tune. Highlights: I Don’t Mind, Autonomy, I Need, Moving Away From The Pulsebeat Score: 5.5/10 energetic punk rock that ends up getting too repetitive

This is the debut album from English punk rock band Buzzcocks. It is a highly acclaimed album with a great track list. I liked the album and would recommend it to any punk rock fans.
Hooky and melodic punk, it’s easy to see how this points forward to new wave and why people get excited about it but really it’s no great shakes for me personally. 3.2/3
I am not too sure that I was familiar with any of their work aside from their name going into this album. I managed to listen to the album once again while on a walk with the dog. Classic punk sound but I think that I need to go back and give the album a deeper listen. The album was good and I would go back to check out more from their discography.

It all sounds the same. Very average.
Somewhere back there - I think it was during the phone sample in No Reply - I wondered if the Buzzcocks were going to do something conceptual. They most certainly did not, but pack their love songs with enough melody to stay sticky.
Best Song: I Don't Mind. Not great, but it at least breaks through the monotony of the other songs by trying something marginally different. Worst Song: Moving Away From The Pulsebeat. Just another guitar solo born or nothing, going nowhere. Overall: Just a mish mash of noise, mixed poorly, that rarely deviates from the continuous droning line that drives ever onward. In what context does someone listen to this music? When so absolutely knackered that the musical drone mirrors that kind of stumbling myopia of heavy inebriation. Maybe then I would like it. Sober it's an absolute chore.
I try to get through albums completely. I try. But I just couldn’t get through this one. Punk is not my cup of tea. I’m not sure how much this album speaks for punk, but I found it boring and hard to get through. It didn’t help that I didn’t enjoy the singing at all. Highlights: -

If you like punk, you must hear the Buzzcocks. More accomplished musicians than most of their punk peers, the Buzzcocks are pure energy.
Pretty Solid Brit punk. Normally not the biggest fan of that Genre. But these guys do it pretty fucking well to be honest.
Great punk rock classic. It's got great energy, great noise, and a lot of attitude to go with it. Punk rock hit a real stride in 1978, and this is the embodiment of that. Worth checking out the deluxe edition that has the excellent tune "What Do I Get?".

Most of these mediocre punk albums I rate a two but this one was just interesting enough to be average
I too love fast cars, but the only part of that song I liked was the bass. And that is about all I like on this album. It's classic Brit-Punk but isn't that formative to the genre to me. The Sex Pistols had come and gone by the time this album was released. And The Clash had put out one of their two albums on this list. It's a listenable album and fits the genre well. I mean they essentially started as a Sex Pistols fan band after all. For a debut album it isn't bad but their next album is significantly better than this one. Just doesn't really feel like it is one of the greatest albums ever.

Shelley and Devoto met while studying humanities at Bolton institute and formed buzzcocks here. why the fuck bolton doesn't go bigger on claiming probably the most influential band for northern music is beyond me. maybe that's now my life's purpose. somehow convince the locals that they need to revel in their history. problem is i just know to engage wiv da yoof i'll have to put a fucking donk on it and get a rap verse in to it somewhere.

I love 'cocks. I am very glad to see this album on the list, it generally seems to go a bit under the radar comparative to the other early punk classics. It's probably my second favourite album of the first 1977/1978 wave (since you are asking, the first is always going to be The Clash by The mortherfucking Clash).
Upon my initial listen I am not extremely thrilled with this piece. I think that it's very prototypical punk music, and that modern music would have suffered without acts like Buzzcocks. Unfortunately, I don't think I understand it yet, and most of the album just bleeds together for me. After hearing the song Ever Fall In Love from a different album, I think I understand the influence, but I need to listen to more of their work to fully respect what this album and the group means for culture going in to the future. Just an average score for now.

This album has an interesting sound and I think I like it...but it wasn't grabbing me until the second time around. Would not mind coming back to this, but not something you can pop on in mixed company.

I can't believe that for all these years the BBC has been telling me to Never Mind these guys! Fun Brit Punk from the absolute height of the Brit Punk era. Crusty in all the best ways.

I still think Singles Going Steady is the best Buzzcocks album, even if it is a compilation, but this album is awesome.
Quite good fun, much more enjoyable than Sex Pistols. Some recognisable singles. Elements of good musicianship. Quite good.
It's the Buzzcocks, impossible to not like. One of the early pop punk bands who did it right. A series of short awesome and catchy tracks with enjoyable vocals and solos. It's a lot of fun, with some neat post-punk and neo-psychedelia tricks. I actually really like the addition of those last 4 singles, even though the placement is kinda weird after the dramatic finish of "Moving Away from the Pulsebeat." The intro track was great, the next few were kinda forgettable, but it grabbed my attention with "Sixteen" to the end. Overall pretty fantastic album and great introduction to the Buzzcocks, although I much pretty their famous compilation "Singles Going Steady."
love these guys - and i double love that fast cars sets out to fool you into thinking it's actually boredom. but it's not - it's a LIE! it's a big, punk-rock LIE - HA! ...also, moving away from the pulsebeat is a fantastic jam.
I didn't click with punk when it first came out. I've come to appreciate it over time.

I liked this much more than I remembered. I didn't like it much the first time I heard it and I always thought Love Bites and Singles Going Steady were much better. I still do, but I revisited this album and it turns out it's actually great too.

The Buzzcocks aren't my favourite punk band, but this album is still great. I Don't Mind is my favourite track.

Great energy
So much energy and inventiveness
An undeniable energy ran through this album. Songs started to blend together in my brain towards the end. They sounded pretty good, though.
Killer album! Great all the way through. Crazy great and clean for 60s punk - riffs, solos, bass lines, drums, all of it! Maybe a bit light lyrically but it's a punk album? And a nice contrast to much of the heavier and/or anarchist punk at the time. Also clean vocally. I'd listen pretty much any time. Only other exception is the lack of standout killer tracks.
Hmm, 3.5. The Buzzcocks have a very good sound but I have to say nothing on this particular album is quite memorable to me.
This album has some super catchy songs and great punk vibes. Exactly the type of sound I love from punk music, and obviously influential.

As somebody who listens to a lot of punk with a pop edge, I know how important Buzzcocks are to a lot of my favorite bands. Great album. Favorite tracks: "Fiction Romance", "Sixteen", "Fast Cars"

What a beast of a punk album. Full of joyful energy, aggressive attitude, biting intelligence, and succinct social commentary, this is everything you want your punk music to be. One of the best. Nothing to hate, everything to love.
It's a pretty good punk album all things considered. Unexpectedly, they didn't have full on noise like some other bands on this list from this genre. The sound is pretty basic, but it's a good sound so credit where credit is due. One thing of note is that I liked the additions to the album at the end a bit more than most of the rest of the songs, but all in all it was fine. Favorite track: Fast Cars
The thing I love about Buzzcocks is that they actually kind of gave a shit about what they were making punk songs about. Their sarcastic tone comes across loud and clear, and their songs are much more musically complex than their contemporaries while being just as fast and aggressive. Going into this album, it was already one of my all time favorite punk albums, so it's a five in my book. I also love that the tracks lead into each other, which is a really weird thing for a punk band to do as that was more of a high production/progressive rock kind of thing to do. Buzzcocks were way ahead of the curve. Orgasm Addict has always been kind of an underrated classic. Highlights: 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15.

Yessss love Buzzcocks. OG punk. First track starts with an instrumental that was used as the riff for Boredom. Don't recognise the other tracks but it's sick, love it. 4/5

This is a great punk record which keeps the aesthetic - snarling lyrics, in your face electric guitars over a thumping drum and bass rhythm section - but adds depth with the songwriting and structure. Really accomplished and entertaining.
It has been quite hard for me to catalogue and rate so many punk albums being that I'm not very fond of the genre, but this one was not so bad. I mean, it's good and it doesn't get tiring or anything like that at all.
Energetic. Not a fan of the vocals but they don't detract from the music that much.

Not really into this one all that much. These guys are pioneers for sure, but unfortunately they fall victim to being the cliché of British punk music because so many other bands after them sounded similar. Not their fault by any means. Aside from that, the music didn't last much with me though altogether still wasn't bad at all.
the first thing that struck me was that I truly did never mind this band before despite growing up with a tv show mostly about music with a title playing on their name partly so despite possibly never hearing them before (or if I did not often and no songs in my catalogue) I was fairly sure I knew their general sound based on their location, era and that above association to never mind the bollocks "I hate fast cars" agreed and like the music but quite an aggravating song thanks to the vocals Not a fan of the vocalist well vocals but lyrics are good No Reply is just funny to me thanks to the ridculous "backing"/call return chorus so can't comment much on it as that is all I can hear No idea if falsetto is the right name for his singing or if it is just too high pitched but either way it is too much. "They go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on How I wish they would stop" - yep they do "I don't know if I'm an actor or ham, a shaman or sham" the later Fiction Romance starts off good and possibly to offer some redemption to an utterly terrible album but it is a pretty crappy song. autonomy like fiction romance starts off good, the drummer and sometimes the guitarist might be the only decent part of this band for me but not good enough to work around the singer and too experimental and not in a good way. I need like most of the album is just vacuous noise. 1 - terrible, can't stand as not a single song added to my liked songs a very tedious album
This exercise is galvanising my hatred of Punk and Folk. More unlistenable, shouty, trashy garbage, over rated nonsense.
I listened to this album a couple of songs at a time and it was tolerable but overall it's very repetitive, apart from a couple of songs in the second half that gave a much needed change of pace. British punk pop rock bands - buzzcocks, sex pistols, stranglers, clash etc. have their songs but not a genre I can listen to for any length of time.
Simple but effective riffs, songs are a bit samey but the high energy and occasionally spicy drums make up for it

No dispute that this album is a staple in the beginnings of the punk scene. It’s fast, raw and juvenile to the bone. While there’s certainly a place for it as one of the most important albums in music history, I’ve got to be in the mood and headspace to really enjoy listening to it.

Punk rock group that I hadn't heard before as back in 1978 I wasn't much into music yet. Mostly good stuff, but some of the material is a bit "homogeneous". Fiction Romance was my favorite, but Autonomy and Moving Away From the Pulsebeat also good. Last half of the album better than the first! Probably 3.2 out of 5?
First Time Listening: 10/11 songs liked Punk usually isn't in my knowledge of music, this was a great album through and through EXCEPT that lost song....lol that ending was "okay..." Nothing noteworthy to hear as stand-alones. No songs saved

бля, шо у этого сайта за привычка «подготовительные» альбомы совать перед классикой? Впрочем в этом случае я не расстроен, исходя из пластинки Love Bites я и так считал базкоксов одной из самых интересных панк-групп, а рассматриваемый альбом уверенность не только не пошатнул, но и своеобразно укрепил. Если на последующей работе будет куда больше конкретно попсовой мелодичности и более-менее ортодоксальных инструменталов, то здесь во многих песнях группа пускается в интересные, пусть и не всегда работающие эксперименты. В какой-то момент в голову даже пришло сравнение с Devo, только в менее нердовскую и синтвейвовую сторону. А так ведь много схожего: дёрганные ритмы, быстрые пассажи, отрывистые вокальные фразы, небанальные мелодичные ходы, тексты про какую-то хуйню-малафью. Угар, в общем. Угар это хорошо. Это лучше, чем ёбаная скука. Но всё же до верхних оценок не дотягивает — в основном потому, что после нескольких прослушиваний банально башка начинает болеть от скорости и нервозности песен. Я на самом деле прошёл полный спектр эмоций за пяток прослушиваний, от неподдельного интереса и подпевания до просто невероятного раздражения. Так что ну 7 где-то, наверное, на позитив всё же больше ориентируюсь.

Another piece of evidence that this is a very British-centric list. The Buzzcocks bring their energy and fast-paced playing into an album that highlights punk and its British movement. Despite not having any major tracks to take away, it is easy to see how they impacted the genres and others to follow.
