Good album, some songs drag but others are good. Probably a 3
While this is still a classic album, I think it’s my least favorite Beatles album. It’s not bad by any means but I find revolver and sgt peppers to be a lot better. Fav songs: nowhere man, Michelle
So many iconic Beatles songs on one album. Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Michelle, Girl, In My Life. Amazing.
I’m not a massive fan. It was fine.
An evolution they took that I liked. Less bouncy and more harmony. I think how much I like this is based on how familiar it is, having been drilled into our heads forever. Hearing this today for the first time probably wouldn’t even make an impression.
Big moment in their discography obviously. Shame that the 2009 mixes that are available on Spotify are so weird.
I feel like this is my sweet spot for the Beatles, that kind of in-between from their Beatlemania stuff and the later Sgt Pepper/White album stuff. "In My Life" is an all-time favorite for me. The rest is wonderful.
Perfection
Great album
The Beatles nailed their sound, and it is interesting enough, but it is hard listening for the first time in 2021 to imagine how it sounded at the time of its release, and im sure it loses so of its impact for that.
Not my favorite Beatles album, but it's a solid transition album from their early stuff to their later REALLY good stuff. "Norwegian Wood" and "Michelle" remain personal favorites.

It's so interesting to hear the blues influences throughout this album and consider what a point of difference or is to the earlier stuff - and how again this is going to transform into entirely new just a few years later. Holy shit, "run for your life" doesn't age well does it?

Knew more songs than I expected. Their songs permeated through everything. Gave it a few listens and really enjoyed most of it.

In my opinion, this is the first Beatles album that actually was good. The earlier ones are "fine" but haven't aged as well for me. Rubber Soul shows a few style choices that hint of what was to come. Norwegian Wood and Nowhere Man are my favs.

The Beatles at their midway point. Moving away from pure pop but not yet as self-consciously experimental as they would become. The best word to describe this would probably be playful.
Maybe I am bias of the Beatles but I never understood Beatlemania I understand the importance of there music and how wonderfully crafted some of there songs are but as a whole can’t strike me with the same passion as other artist not to mention the Beatles were catered to a a type of people I am not. Over all this was genuinely enjoyable

Un album de qualité, bien que je n'eusse pas vraiment la chance de l'apprécier. J'étais trop occupé à brouillonner puis rédiger ma critique de Bad au même moment. Il y a quelques jours, j'ai vécu un moment très étrange et inquiétant pour la suite de notre aventure au sein de ce Générateur. Je vous explique. J'étais en train de boire du Glühwein dans un café-restaurant avec une amie lorsque celle-ci m'annonça qu'une personne allait nous rejoindre. Jusque-là rien d'anormal. Soudain, je ne sais pour quelle raison, je décidai d'introduire le Générateur à la discussion : 《 Et donc avec eltrapeze, on est sur le Générateur de Robert, mais les gens me confondent souvent avec lui parce que je m'appelle Robcremière, et donc comme je te disais... — Oh, voilà mon ami ! 》 La personne en question venait d'arriver, au moment exact où j'allais m'exprimer sur les défauts du Générateur. J'ai donc très rapidement soupçonné celle-ci d'avoir été envoyé par Robert en personne, lui qui a pour habitude d'envoyer toute sorte de gens dans toute sorte d'endroits. J'ai bien conscience d'être une des personnalités les plus influentes de ce Générateur, mais s'il y a bien quelque chose dont j'ai horreur, ce sont les espions. La suite de l'après-midi s'est déroulée simplement. Je n'ai pas adressé la parole à la personne m'ayant interrompu dans mon discours mais ai épié chacun de ses mots et mouvements. Vous serez les premiers informés si j'étais amené à faire de nouvelles découvertes.
Au début de cette folle aventure, j'avais en tête une très célèbre trinité, la trinité du surcotage, j'ai nommé Beatles - Pink Floyd - Rolling Stones. Si les Pink Floyd ont depuis confirmé leur statut de groupe le plus surcôté de l'histoire, les Beatles avaient su me faire douter grâce aux excellents Abbey Road et White Album. Seulement, depuis, force est de constater que les Beatles ont également des albums tout à fait banals, complétement adulés par le grand public qui n'y connait rien à la musique. En parlant de réglade, je tenais à revenir sur le cas d'un des décérébrés du générateur. Hier, alors que j'attribuais la note maximale à Bad de Michael Jackson, je vis la note globale de 3.76 s'inscrire sur mon écran. Je sursautais de stupeur, et me dirigeais en furie vers l'espace commentaire. Ici, en tant que deuxième commentaire, figure un petit malin ayant attribué la note minimale de 1/5 à ce bijou musical. Ce petit malin, dont l'album préféré est la daube auditive de Kraftwerk, a voulu faire son intéressant en descandant l'album de MJ. Le cliché typique de l'individu sans vie sociale, se pensant au dessus de tout le monde en detestant la musique commerciale. Son review est une calamité, que j'ai d'ailleurs demandé à Robert de supprimer du générateur. De plus, son amour pour Kraftwerk prouve les liens très étroits que cet individus entretient avec le nazisme, là aussi Robert est sur le coup, et une perquisition devrait être menée dans les prochains jours au domicile de ce jeune imbécile. Vous l'aurez compris, les Rolling Stones seront attendus au tournant.
My favorite Beatles album
Well, one song on this album will be forever tainted for me, I guess, but the rest of it is just so solid, so good that I can't fault it. Can't believe this is the first Beatles album to be thrown up by the random generator either!
A strong 4.8 There are songs on this album that are unforgetable. Each song is so different buit the album rocks.

One of my personal favorite albums of all time. I personally believe it is the best Beatles' album as it encompasses such a wide range of melodies and creative moments. A truly magical project. My favorite song has to be "Girl", John's vocals are unmatched on that one!
-"Beep Beep, Beep Beep, yeah" -The Beatles -In "Michelle" stupid idiot singer accidentally starts speaking French, the song is in ENGLISH, DUMB DUMB -I really like the synth riff thing in "I'm Looking Through You" I wish they used that sort of thing more -I like the bass riff in "The Word" even though it is only in my right ear. Also "Bird" is the word, not "Love" -It was all solid, Beatles-y music, but like nothing to poop your pants over
I hate it.
So I’m in the dull majority who like the Beatles, though the music is no longer in heavy rotation for me. I like this crossover period from pop to psychedelic: still punchy ditties almost all under 3 minutes. The latter half is a little heavy with upbeat but mopey lyrics in the “girl done me wrong” vein, capped (in the 2009 remaster the YouTube music offered up) with a catchy, charming countrified number about a man’s vow to stalk and kill his girlfriend for infidelity.

While this classic album suffers from some low moments ("What Goes On"), the highs are incredible ("Norwegian Wood"). Clearly, one of the best albums from The Beatles.
Certainly not an album that I need to listen to to rate, but I went ahead and listened anyway. Every single song is good. Run For Your Life is a bit of a strange song to end on, mostly given John's history of domestic abuse, but apart from the darkness of that moment the album is incredible. A huge step forward for a band trying to become something other than the simple pop stars they had mostly been up until that point 5/5
Boring
An okay album, but not particularly exciting. Simple songs, some of them catchy.
With a mindful listen, this replaced Hard Days Night as my favourite Beatles album. Wonder from end-to-end, melodically & lyrically.
Bunch of men whining about women, who they call girls. Some nice melodies. Michelle dodged a bullet.
Good album, nice to see some music that defined the Beatles, and listen to so more tunes written by John. I didn't enjoy the album and its themes as much as I did Abbey Road so I'll leave this at a low 4.

Finally some fucking Beatles. It's impossible to choose a favourite Beatles album but this is one of the very best. A great album! I love it a lot! My second favorite Beatles album, and the first one that I ever listened to all the way through around November 2020. I love the folkier style, and "In My Life" is one of my all time favorite Beatles songs. "Drive My Car" is also one of the best album starters that The Beatles ever had. Just incredible!
The Beatles are a classically popular band, and this album was great, but not my favorite of their collection. It was okay.

It's the beatles!
The Beatles are no doubt iconic to many before me and likely influence some brilliant bands - I just don't get it. Up beat sounding music with a really dreary boring AF voice singing love songs that sound like he's trying to put you to sleep... Likely so he can do what he sings about in the final song. Won't listen again. Best part about this album - it only lasted for around half an hour!

First Beatles album, I listened to back to back. I enjoyed "Drive my car", "Girl" and "I'm looking through you". Overall better than anticipated.

Where do we start. Ok well firstly anyone that dislikes John Lennon probably does have a rubber soul. If they have a soul at all that is. This album is absolutely phenomenal in every way shape and form. Another fine example of scousers ruling the world!!
just not the best beatles album. its got 4 belters and the rest is all very nice and that but just never a song i would actively choose to listen to. they are however the highest quality filler songs you'll ever hear, they're undeniably the beatles, well written, perfomed and recorded, they're just meh. clearly this is all before the beatles got intersting.
On the eve of my 42nd Birthday party I shoved 18 beetles up my bum. After a rather uncomfortable night, I jumped out of my bed and ran downstairs. All of the family were waiting, along with a film crew and a number of acclaimed art critics. They all sang Happy Birthday to me and I blew out each of the 42 candles on the cake. I ripped down my pants and fired those beetles directly into the faces of the audience. They gasped. I was awarded the Turner Prize.
196 albums in and finally The Beatles. They sound like an overweight pig on a skateboard, wheezing in the Autumn sun...in a good way.
Never heard of this lot but I predict big things for them, they'll go far.

I've always thought of Rubber Soul as being the end of "old beatles" before Revolver kicked it up a gear.
A Beatles album without any of their notable singles on it. Going into this, I know it is highly regarded, but am otherwise unsure of what to expect. Side 1 of the album flew by. Very consistent. Very nice harmonies. Good songs. No weak tracks, but nothing massively stands out either, except Drive My Car which is catchy but a bit of a novelty track. Side 2 is a bit more mellow, gentle and downbeat. Still quite good, but doesn't sound massively interesting or innovative in 2021. I liked it, but I didn't love it. I suspect it is regarded more for its influence rather than as a stand alone piece. Judging it without that context, based solely on how much I enjoyed it, I'm maybe a little underwhelmed. 3/5.

Does almost nothing for me. Favorite songs are probably 'Girl' and 'Wait'.
Very very enjoyable, vocals are insanely good, harmony is great. Only negative I can find is that sometimes the instrumentals are a bit repetitive, very similar sounding drums in most songs, “Girl” was nice because it had a drastically different composition to most of the other songs in the album. On all songs though, the guitar lines all sound amazing. 5/5

I mean... it's the Beatles. Rocky, poppy, sweet 'n nostalgic.
My favourite Beatles album by a really really long way. Came out 3 years before bookends by s&g and contains just as many sensitive, beautifully written acoustic tracks. The highlights of the album are easily norwegian wood, nowhere man and in my life (one of the greatest songs ever written). drive my car is a fucking awful album opener and makes me want to kill myself every time I hear it so minus one point for that but every other track is near perfect.
Oh man. My favorite. So many great songs. Guess I get a free day today, cause I been listening to this album since I was 12.

It's The Beatles man. It's fun ya know? Not super my thing.
Just sublime. How extraordinary The Beatles were. Their consistency in such a short space of time. Songs that will endure forever. There is so much to enjoy here and a variety of style and mood whilst still sounding like a cohesive record. I really loved listening to this on repeat and has been my highlight so far of this project.

Is very good. A good amount of influence from folk on top of the preestablished rock/pop. Includes favorites like In My Life, Michelle, If I Needed Someone, and Drive My Car.
This was perfect for a Friday afternoon. I am not usually a huge Beatles fan, but this album really hit the spot. Short and simple, but a lot of catchy tunes on this one.
Not my first time: 7/14 sings liked You can't shake the wonder of if they knew music theory and had their ears enjoy such things as modular scales and key ambiguity, or if they were just idiots that can hear music well. Such is the case, this album is extremely mature for them, and after years of listening to it for the first time, glad to know my taste stayed the same LOL. 7 songs saved
Can’t go wrong with the Beatles
Great songs on there, but not my favorite beatles album.
Love Rubber Soul!! This was the first Beatles album I ever bought on vinyl, there was an old copy at a thrift store. It's beat to hell and sounds a little scratchy but that just adds to the charm of it.

Lijepo melodičan album koji me često nekako vuče na jesen, po samom coveru? (boje možda). Odličan početak albuma sa pjesmom Drive My Car, potom ide Norwegian Wood koji je baš autumn mood. Divan instrumental, predivan štoviše. Općenito da ne dužim. Cijeli album je zabavan, lijep, radostan, melodičan i među najbolja u D Bitls katalogu.

Great album with some solid classics and no duds
This is one of my favourite albums of all time. This is just before The Beatles started redefining music with every subsequent release and you can hear the experimental ideas bubbling under the surface. Love it. It is a bit bad that John Lennon says he's going to kill that girl, but it was the 60's.
This is the first Beatles album I've listened to from start to finish and I really enjoyed it. The album felt cohesive, and I kind of wish each song was a little longer! I don't have any gripes with this album.
Classic. I love the fact that The Beatles hit a ceiling with this album and The Beatles in general. After the release of Beach Boy's 'Pet Sounds', 'St Peppers' was a desperate attempt to compete by creating an entirely new fictional band.
Soul/motown-inspired rock and roll at the Beatles' finest. In My Life is one of my favourites on this one. Also, it's said that the inhales on Girl are Lennon inhaling a joint

This might be my favorite Beatles album...
Pretty good. Has some standouts.
After tearing Paul to shreds as a vocalist in the preceding years, this is the one where John shows himself equally superior as a songwriter. Norweigian Wood, Girl and In My Life are a magnificent triumvirate that work through John's complex feelings towards women: confusion, anger, bitterness, devotion. When he brings the muscular second guitar in to punctuate the third verse of Girl, it's because he knows that's the one the tips it into masterpiece. Something similar happens with the sped-up piano on In My Life. So, those three are untouchable genius. What Goes On is... not. Pretty abominable really. George's mumbo jumbo is passable, though Think For Yourself, while the better of the two, is more grating lyrically. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that John wrote The Word as a George parody, especially given its sequencing. Drive My Care and Michelle are two of Paul's more nuanced and therefore best songs. Overall, it's great but not without mediocre moments. Verdict: I could not die without having heard this album.

Rubber Soul was never a favorite of mine growing up, but some of that stems from the fact that my family owned the American version, not the superior British version. Another reason is that Rubber Soul is hugely influenced by the folky scene of the time, not really my favorite genre--and I don't much care for the Beatles' take on it. I never could warm to Michelle (sappy) or Girl (I loathe doowop, even though that's the basis of much of Motown & Philly soul). What Goes On In Your Mind is a throwaway. The Word is too on the nose for me. I don't even like Norwegian Wood, which I find sing song-y. I realize this puts me in squarely in the contrarian camp--Michelle and Norwegian Wood have collectively been covered hundreds of times, which doesn't happen by accident. And while it's true that Rubber Soul was a huge evolutionary step in rock at the time, I refuse to evaluate it on that basis. More to the point for me, at least in this context is, how does it play now? Fortunately, there are a number of first-rate tunes on Rubber Soul. Drive My Car is pretty much a perfect pop song, with it's relentless forward motion, monster hooks, short and snappy instrumental breaks, and welcome sense of humor. So much so, that it was still getting significant airplay alongside contemporary music a quarter of a century after it came out. You Won't See Me, Nowhere Man, I'm Looking Through You, In My Life, and If I Needed Someone are also standouts. The three part harmonies are killer throughout Rubber Soul. The fuzz bassline on Think For Yourself is a great touch. Many folks have a problem with the lyrics of Run For Your Life, but I think they're great, nailing the inner life of an angry misogynistic creep typical of the era. So, how to rate? Again, I'm probably underrating this, but I'll give it 3.5/5 stars.

You Won't See Me This album is incredible, might be a Beatle stan. I get the Beatles. Nothing sounds quite like them, and goddamn they refuse to miss on this album. Even the two I didn't save are at least 5/10 songs.

the definition of 60's pop rock!
Masterpiece
A definite classic Beatles album, with some ridic songwriting in there. Tried to listen to this and therefore score it objectively (I pretended I was Ash listening to it for the first time) and it did make me think about it differently. It’s an album I know so well, but if I was trying to convince someone of the genius of the Beatles I probably wouldn’t choose this one, no matter how good I think it is. It’s quite poppy still, and doesn’t really push the envelope in the ways that albums like Revolver, Sgt Pepper or Abbey Road do.

Best Beatles album
For the record, I don't think The Beatles' music is shit, I just think they are overrated, cheesy and sound a bit dated. Torn between a 3 and a 4.
This is tough. There are Beatles albums I like more than Rubber Soul so tempted to give this a 4. But it is still right up there and has some songs who's influence can't be overlooked that I feel this should be rated higher than some of the albums I've already given a 4 to. Oh for a .5 system! Narrowly a 10/10. A couple really good songs, and none that let the album down. And while it's not the most exciting or emotional music, it just sounds really good. Except maybe the bits where he inhales in "Girl". And it's a very reasonable length for the style of music.

Really liked this one! A lot more than the last Beatles album I listened to. Songs were a lot more catchier and I felt like they landed better will def revist a lot of songs from thus project. I also appreciate how short it is Fav tracks: drive my car, you won't see me, no where man!!!!, think for yourself, the word, Michelle, what goes on

I like this album. I was surprised that I didn't know more of these songs, but I would have guessed that all of them were the Beatles not having heard them before. I think my favorite was Michelle.
Am I alone in saying that I don't think there's a single Beatles album that is strong all the way through? There always seems to be some filler lurking in the margins. But, of course, when they're on form the Beatles do no less than re-write the face of rock and roll. Some of the tracks here are untouchable. Aside from the fluff, the only things working against them are ubiquity and personal taste - I prefer the Beatles' most early incarnation, but here, as they transition to a more psych sound, they're still near the peak of their powers.

Overall solid album from the Beatles. Not to into boomer music but overall really like the first half of the album and thought it was overall a different sound from other Beatles albums. Idk though since I haven't listened to a lot of Beatles though
Sup y’all it’s Chanclas Batman a.k.a. Chanclas checkin in and checking out “Rubber Soul”. Beatles were dope, there is no getting around it (except for Lennon) but not enough bangers on this album to stand out as a perfect or close to “perfect album” in my mind. Easy listenin'. Lots of harmonica, makes me feel like I could jam these songs on a porch with me friends on a summer night. I mean I can't, because I'm not the Beatles, but seems the most accessable of their albums. Also only 35min!

I think Brian Wilson was right when he said this was the first album where "Every Track is a Gas". But it flows, despite there being 3 different writers experimenting beyond what pop was. It's fair to say this is when the beatles became important. All meat, no bones. Every song here is a guaranteed hit. They last as long as they need to. Right to the point.
The worst Beatles album so far, and kinda creepy in a bad way
It's the Beatles what more can I say! I haven't actually listened to this album before, but I enjoy most of the rest of their discography and this album has significantly sitar so that's a plus.

Wasn’t going to bother rating this, but it seems like it won’t let me proceed if I don’t. Hmm… Anyway, not sure “Run For Your Life” has aged that well, but then neither have I. More interesting question: what’s the WORST Beatles tune? I gotta think on it some more critically, but my immediate response is “Get Back.” Never liked that one. Feels like it should be on a Bachman Turner Overdrive record instead.

Don't know a lot about the Beatles, but this is a good album, knew 1 or 2 songs, but overall it has some great melodies and interesting grooves. Solid but nothing spectacular.
Easy listening
Nearly every song is unique and memorable, plus it represents a big shift in the Beatles music and pop music as a whole. To those upset about “Run for your life”, you realize this is intentionally written to demonstrate the extreme emotional depths of jealousy right? The song sheds light on an ugly archetype, but one that nevertheless exists, and one that the Beatles clearly struggled with. Paul McCartney also found it worthwhile to write about monkeys fucking in a road. Another extreme human(and animal) instinct the Beatles wrote without necessarily being monkey fuckers themselves. This is how art works, you don’t have to like it, maybe the point is that you don’t like it.
I think I may have enjoyed this one the most of what I've listened to so far. I didn't actually know most of the songs on this album, but I liked pretty much all of them.
Different from my expectations. The songs are still pop-ish, but have a variety of perspectives on love and involve a lot of musical experimentation.
I already knew this album well. Perfect 60s vibes. You really get to see hints of what the Beatles would become next.

Noniin, vihdoin Beatlesia. Olen kuullut aiemmin kaikkia bändin studiolevyjä, mutta kuuntelu on todella vahvasti keskittynyt kokoelmalevyihin. Kiinnostavaa siis kuunnella kokonaista albumia keskittyneesti. Laadukasta musiikkiahan tämä on, mutta valitettavasti keskinkertaisia täytebiisejä löytyy yllättävänkin paljon. Kokonaisuutena levy ei siis pidä otteessaan ihan niin hyvin kuin oletin ennakkoon. Toki levyltä löytyi myös "tuttuja" helmiä joiden olemassaolon olin ihan täysin unohtanut (esim. You Won't See Me, In My Life). Tämä Beatles-levy ei ole viiden tähden arvoinen, mutta ehkä niitäkin vielä tulee!

Has some really good songs, and overall the album is good. A nice sort of solo chill album. Not all the songs are zingers, but it is a nice length at 35 minutes.

Pretty underwhelming considering they're the fucking Beatles. It's still good, but it's no Sargant Peppers' or The white album.
Incredible songwriting, as you would expect. Only criticism is that a lot of the guitar tones sounds pretty weak - I'm guessing recorded straight into the desk. Some people like this aesthetic, but I feel better sounding guitars would have filled out the sound more. Still a great record, though.

I’ve always dismissed the Beatles as only being liked because they were the first to do something, because I don’t think originality means good. But listening to this and then reading up on the history of the album and the influences I gotta say I don’t hate it. It’s still not really my cup of tea, but I respect it. I like that they didn’t really make an album around a couple singles, but made it where the whole album has the same quality. Anyways this ain’t bad and I will stop talking so much shit about them, but not completely.

Listened to it a few weeks back, okay. It has Sympathy for the Devil which is a top 5 stones song for me, so I can't rate it less than 3/4
Good start and end, bit one paced at points
It might not be the best of their albums but "Rubber Soul" is my personal favorite Beatles album. The lyrics are clever and funny and deep and the musicianship is of course top notch. Great record.
A bridge between the rock n roll of the early Beatles, and the psychedelia they would be dipping their toes into just one album later. Favorite tracks: "All My Life", "I'm Looking Through You", "Drive My Car"

This didn't change my overall opinion of the Beatles, and didn't blow my mind as a new high point. My most recent listen of Sgt. Pepper's is several years old now, but I still prefer that more conceptual work as well as the noisier territory the boys occasionally visited. On the other hand, hearing a trim album full of trim but great pop songs is nice. The version streaming suffers a bit from the mixing strategy of putting all of a given instrument in one channel, which is a bit annoying.
