Reviews (page 13 of 14)

- entspanntes Album - ein wenig Schwächer als Revolver in meinen Augen, wobei es natürlich auch vom Style her einfach anders klingt

Meh, there are better Beatles album. Rubber Soul is not bad by any means though.

Norwegian Wood is a great song and I know this is an important album, but I just find this one boring.

Nice easy listening but nothing exciting for me.

Wow another Beatles entry so soon. Definitely not my favourite album of theirs but there are some songs I like. But other than that I feel like this was just okay for me. I also didn't realize how short this album was before now. Anyways favourites were You Won't See Me, Michelle, What Goes On, Girl, In My Life, and Wait. Just because I know there are more Beatles albums coming that I like better, I will give this a 3 for average

This is one of heir more lighthearted albums imo, one of my favorite songs Michele is on here as well. Goes well with everything, it’s the vanilla of Beetle albums. 3.4

not a huge Beatles fan but this is fun

Totally fine!

not my vibe. mas parece q moldou mt uma geração inteira de músicas

Not a big fan of the Beatles, but this is one of their better albums. Fairly enjoyable

Revolver is better, but this does pick up in the second half.

This album was mostly calming and soft. Additionally, it sounds a little ahead of its time for an album from 1965.

There’s some beautiful stuff here written by a complete dirtbag.

I liked this one more than I thought I would, some good ones I hadn't heard before. 7/10

Starts out with two great songs then steadily downhill.

Just does absolutely nothing for me. Sorry everyone

Not a huge full album Beatles guy. Hard Days Night or Revolver would be my usual choices. (Of course there’s a ton of good singles too) Northern Soul, US R&B, a little hint of psychedelic music all blended together makes a pleasant album but ultimately not an overall “holy shit” amazing album. Felt like there were more filler tracks with this listen. You can hear where this is ultimately heading with Revolver coming up. And then it’s downhill to the end (in my opinion!) Stand out tracks for me - Wait, The Word, Drive My Car and Norwegian Wood

Some more, very by the numbers, BEatles tracks. One of the better ones, though

Definitely some standout hits but not as consistent imo

Glad to get another Beatles album! I enjoyed the sound on this one, but not so many of the songs. Nowhere Man I kept, and I’ve heard Girl before but none of the others were super memorable.

not a very interesting beatles album but it’s still good

Supposedly this album marks the point which The Beatles transitioned from bubbly pop to start their most well-received experimental music. Well, to me, this is still quite bubbly in most parts. Not that that’s a negative thing, it’s just a bit too chirpy to make up anything that great. It can’t be doubted that they’re the masters of short and snappy pop numbers. In that regard, it’s excellent. In the regard of most other things musical, it’s considerably less excellent, though still enjoyable.

I like the Beatles. I'm not one of those crazy Beatles fans that can tell you everything about every album and who their barber was during the recording sessions. I think the Beatles persona sort of transcended the music they made and it's hard to listen to it objectively. Like, it's the Beatles - you're just supposed to love it, right? That said, I feel like this album is sort of hit and miss. This record seems like it was the prelude to the Beatles getting weird (super high) and I like their weird stuff a lot better. This album is good, but if I was going to make a 'best of' compilation of the Beatles, I don't know that anything from this record would be included. 3/5

This almost for a 4 out of me for being the best Beatles album I’ve heard from this list so far. But I’m docking a point for that creepy ass “Little Girl” song.

Nothing special just overall good Beatles music Favorite Track: Norwegian Wood

Easy listening, which I always like. A very even keeled album. But if I didn’t know it was the Beatles, I don’t know that I would have thought anything extra special of it.

- enjoyable - really like the guitars on this album - Drive My Car and Nowhere Man stood out

It's the Beatles so we're supposed to score it highly right? It's not a bad album, it's also not a great album, the last track is fucking horrendous

A great Beatles album. Never get tired of listening to the Beatles. Best songs My Life and Nowhere Man. I remember singing along to Michele when it was originally on the radio back in 1965. Happy Memories.

A couple of solid ones on here but not my fave Beatles album

This is a pretty good Beatles album. Very transitional, they are playing around with what being "The Beatles" means and what types of songs they write. I like the experiment for the most part.

2.5 My first Beatles! Honestly, the songs here are quite unremarkable, apart from "run for your life", which was enjoyable enough to push it to 3 stars. But at least i finally found a way to block the ads on spotify, so a win for music nevertheless!

This was not an insufferable Beatles album. I love the brevity, and I wish more bands would adopt this. An interesting mix of styles overall, and I really like the vocal/writing structure of this album. The line cadence and rhyming work really well throughout the album. Bonus points for sitar usage. Sad to see what drugs and Yoko did to them. Fav tracks: Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), Michelle

Las últimas cuatro canciones good :)

Just another Beatles album that don’t really deserve as much hype.

3.5 - classics and filler

Meh - it’s The Beatles. Listens: 1 Fave Track: In My Life Rating: 3

I've never understood the appeal of The Beatles. I'm sure plenty of people have been influenced over the years by them, they're just not my bag. The album was mediocre at best.

2024-03-04...

Not my Favourite but it does have Norwegian wood.

#148. Hey look, another mid ass Beatles album. That's the third one so far. Aren't the Beatles supposed to be great or something? Is that all just hype and not reality? Do they actually have any albums with more than one or maybe two good songs on it? I know there's about eleventeen Beatles albums on this list, so I guess I'll find out. Not betting on it though 3/5: acceptable

It's the Beatles. It sounds like the Beatles. I'm sure it's great if you enjoy listening to the Beatles. I don't enjoy listening to the Beatles.

💪🏻

Have already heard all of these songs thanks to my dad playing nonstop Beatles for my entire childhood. My rating will be biased as we are a Beatles household. Big fan of Michelle due to sentimental value - dad used to sing it to my sister (her name is Michelle). Run for your life is a weird song. 3.5 rating for the album cuz it’s a bit slow for my liking however that doesn’t seem to be an option on this app? Probably one of their worst albums in my opinion. Wouldn’t be something I’d listen to casually but still enjoyed it. If I rated it any lower I’d be afraid my dad would find out and disown me.

Some good tracks on here such as "In my Life" and "Nowhere Man" but a lot of it is mediocre and unmemorable. I like the Beatles but they definitely have better albums worth listening to before you die – "Let It Be", for example.

pretty decent but not memorable, even gave it a second listen

This might be one of my least favorite Beatles albums. It's pretty straight forward. There's a lot of things they did that I don't particularly like: a lot of 'oooohs, and la-la's' that I find kind of annoying. Norwegian Wood and In My Life are highlights of the record. Some would say Drive My Car to being one of the better songs... I personally think it's my least favorite song on the album. But who am I?

Exactly as I remembered. As a best friend said, their best stuff lays in the non-hits.

Amazing album

Boring

This is the last album before the Beatles started to get really good. Still pretty weak though, so 3/5.

Très facile d'écoute, quelques sons bien sympathiques ! 3,5/5

Maybe I was in a bad mood?

Ikke så forfærdeligt som frygtet, men der var ikke nogle super gode sange..

Some good songs but still not for me

Classic catchy lyrics and chord progression. Nothing stood out in particular. In My Life was obviously the star of the album

Some good songs. Strong start and end. Middle drags, and it’s only 35 minutes total. 3 stars

BL: First Beatles album I’ve got on this list. Listened Before, I liked this one a lot, I think it marks the most interesting point in The Beatles career, the point of no return where they went to a fully psychedelic band. Will be happy to give this one a relisten AL: while this record does struggle with its identity a little bit (combining some incredibly psychedelic cuts like “Norwegian Wood”, and incredibly standard early 60s Beatle-pop like “Run for your life”). The record generally maintains posture and has some incredibly compelling moments. Though overall this was the awkward puberty phase of The Beatles and while it is a good listen it doesn’t compare anywhere near to some of the later efforts in “Revolver” or “The White Album” FT: “Norwegian Wood”, “Nowhere Man”, “In My Life” 3/5

Rubber Soul by the Beatles! I mean, it’s the Beatles. You can’t go wrong with that. The bangers are bangers, and I kinda just want to skip through the rest. It’s fine to listen through, but why do that when I already know what the greatest hits are? Favorite songs: Drive My Car, Michelle. Special mention to Run for your Life, which made me *severely* uncomfortable, and I didn’t know the Beatles had it in them to do that

Meh, it was the Beatles.

Classic.

Album as a whole -Mixing gives me a headache -Please make the instruments play on both ears -Cool album cover -It's ok -Best songs: Michelle, Wait, If I needed someone -Rating: 5.5/10 1. Not a big Beatles fan, but it helped they day go by

This was a decent album full of tracks I mostly never heard before. I likely won't listen to it again, however compared to many of the two star albums I've listened to as part of this project so far, I'm far more likely to listen to this than to them.

This was decent. I'm never going to love The Beatles, but I'm not immune to some good vocal harmonization and some catchy pop stuff.

The Beatles were far from their best here. Norwegian Wood is a personal favourite, but the rest aren’t great.

Good, but not my fav Beatles album

Mid album, most tracks are repetitive and boring. Only a few songs stood out to me. Top tracks are "Nowhere Man", "Michelle", and "Girl.

Not the Rolling Stones are they.

Love The Beatles. But this isn’t my favourite record of theirs. As a bit of a nitpick I think the order of songs is weird. There’s not a good flow to this. Still there are some of my all time favourite songs on this. “Norwegian Wood,” “Nowhere Man,” and “In My Life” are my personal high spots on the album. 3.5/5

Leur 6ème album. Un peu plus folk celui-là. Je les juge sévèrement.

Still don't get this album. The songs are repetitive and only ever consist of a couple 4 or 8 bar sections. Its a rigid record, one that feels robotic at times, which is a shame because this is supposed to the first truly human Beatles album. Naturally, the melodies and production are immaculate, but I still would consider this (like the album before and after) a transitional record, but one crucial in the band later making some of the greatest of all time.

This is….cute. The vibe is fun. I wasn’t alive yet, but I know the Beatles were a BIG deal. I can see it. This album is giving teeny-bopper music

Not my favorite from the Beatles Still the Beatles

A little boring from time to time, but not bad.

I absolutely hate watch out little girl. The rest of the album is okay

I remember at one time enjoying this album more than I did today. It sort of feels like a collection of songs from an era, not really a cohesive album. The music is generally good, if a bit bland compared to later Beatles. But I think, as an album, I could live without it.

It was alright

Nice to have on in the background

- This is the album during which I try to arrive at the Beatles marathon. The dawn of era that I appreciate from them. I don’t love the album; but In My Life is on a different level.

Not for me. Good pace and rhythm.

I am NOT a Beatles fan. I really dont like them at all. But ill be fair. Stand-out song(s): Drive My Car What Goes On (this has a funky country / folk guitar twang to it)

I don’t have much frame of reference for the Beatles but this album was enjoyable. Vibes are groovy.

Baby you can drive my car, yes I’m gonna be a star.

This album was okay. It wasn’t my favourite.

2.8/5. Good ol' jazz-sy vibes with soft vocals coming together to make a timeless classic. While I amy have found some songs to be alright, the last few songs were good. Fav will definitely be the bery last song

I quite liked the album. Might listen to again, and a couple of tracks really slap.

C'était agréable à l'écoute mais pas du même niveau que les deux précédents albums. Les chansons se ressemblaient un peu trop les unes les autres notamment. Disons 3 tirant vers le 4.

Perhaps it was great for the time...

idk i don't get the Beatles, maybe Abbey Road, Revolver, White album, can change my mind. I'm sure their sound was unique for the time but I can't shake the feeling that their legendary body of work inspired enough people to the point where their legacy is muddled by equally classic works by the next generation of artists.

Some of the criticisms I have for With The Beatles apply here as well. All of the songs have the same theme of love / breakups. This could work, if the lyrics weren’t very cliche / the same. Most of the lyrics here aren’t the best lyrics the Beatles have written by a mile. Most of the songs are a bit forgettable, but the ones that aren’t stick very well. It’s good at best, a tad annoying and cliche at worst.

bitlisz chilles mindjárt elalszom de amúgy szeretem

I went through a pretty big Beatles phase as a teenager. I owned almost all of their albums. But I never bought Rubber Soul. I don’t think I had ever actually listened to the entire album. Now that I have, I stand by my decision not to purchase this record. There is just nothing exciting about it.

It's alright. Norwegian Woods is really good. There are better Beatles albums tbh. I'm feeling a solid 6

Ondanks veel goede nummers, nog net iets te veel pop Beatles om heel het album steeds op te zetten. Beetje meer drugs pakken jongens.

It was fine. I know I should love the Beatles but I can see why they're important but really can't enjoy them very much. A couple songs in here I can listen to endlessly but I wanted to skip most of them. I wish I got them but I don't.

Not the biggest Beatles fan, but it's alright

3.75/5 just under great really enjoyed.

Nope - not my fav

Нууу У битлов было мощнее. Хз насчет контекста, оцениваю чисто музло

норм для вхождения

The Beatles are just fine in my opinion. I think the album is fine but just heard way too many times. I will give the album three stars.

I really don't like the Beatles and can scarcely recommend their music, but it wasn't as intolerable as I've come to 'want' to expect when listening to them. For me, just average.

Heel erg nice. FAVO: Drive my car, Michelle

Not the best not the worst, I like a few of the tracks and found others boring. The production is a bit strained in places too.

It’s fine. Drive My Car is a classic. Run For Your Life hasn’t aged well. Just not a big Beatles fan.

3/5. A lot of people say this is their favorite Beatles album and it’s hard to believe they listened to any of the later Beatles albums. Some songs in the middle and the last few songs are not classics. There are definitely some great ones here like In My Life and Norwegian Wood, but some not great ones like The Word and Wait. It’s still good but I don’t think I’d put this on over most other Beatles albums.

Quite good. Was expecting more stand out tracks

Not my favorite Beatles album, but then again, I don't have a favorite. Just meh.

Good album with many good songs (some I don't remember hearing before) with usual Beatle's harmonies. Sound ranges from their early work but with hints of what was to come in late 60s

Drive My Car, Nowhere Man, The Word, Girl - p good stuff Run For Your Life - 🚩 🚩 🚩 🚩 why end an album on that note

Classic All-time Best, and revolutionary for its time.

It’s the Beatles and it’s not Sgt Peppers, so it’s just ok. 5/10

Well... crap. In general, I don't like the Beatles. But this was good. Breaking down some walls. I kinda wish I could give it a 3.5. But we round down!

Fun album. Sounds like the Beatles although there aren't that many recognizable tracks for me. Weird song about killing a girl that doesn't want to be with him... oddly dark

2nd listen. I like it more than I did before. It’s definitely on the higher end of 3 stars, but because I’m not really into any one song on it, it doesn’t get to 4 for me.

Just beatles. Sounds fine. I don’t understand why it’s so popular. Maybe it’s a generational thing..

Just not really into the early Beatles as I am with some of their later stuff. still not a bad album just kinda drags on for a while

Remarkably listenable considering it's nearing 60 years old, but largely unremarkable.

Y’all can crucify me if you want, I’ve just never been able to click with early Beatles albums… Definitely some great songs off here, and I absolutely see the influence that this album had on both the Beatles’ future discography and popular music as a whole, but it’s just not my thing, unfortunately. (Favorite tracks: Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Michelle, In My Life)

Not their best album that's for sure. But still ok.

Middle of the road Beatles innit

This album really takes me back to my teenage years and it has some great tracks. Norwegian Wood is a particular favourite and George was my favourite Beatle. Even adding the nostalgia element I think it’s got to be a high 3*, not quite 4

Quite enjoyed this one.

For me this is the album where Beatles started to be interesting. Catchy tunes here, great vocal harmonies and rock ‘n roll

Not the best Beatles album

I've always liked "in my life". Didn't get much more out this

This is an album that exists. I'm not much for the Beatles. It's fine.

Was excited to listen when I saw a Beatles album. I had never given them much of a chance but obviously knew of their influence. This album was not good.

The start of the ascent for the Beatles. Not much of a fan of the earlier pop stuff, but what came after was utterly groundbreaking. Revolver and Sgt Peppers are surely up there with the greatest albums (though it's almost a crime they decided not to include Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane on Sgt Peppers. Rubber Soul is the bridge between those two eras. Some great songs with signs of what was to come with some experimentalism, and it starts off strong. There are a few weaker tracks as the album chugs along, before ending with the absolutely terrible Run for Your Life. This one has aged particularly badly, especially once you find out about Lennon's wifebeating past. In isolation, this album is probably 3*, but knowing what was to come, and knowing this was the catalyst, makes me want to uplift it slightly.

Could probably have been 4* depending on how I’m feeling at the time

Not my jam.

Lyrics pretty basic, production is great As a album not have any particular clear thought of where it is going

You can see why the Beatles are rated so highly. Good album. Great start but not quite so good towards the end. Highlight - Norwegian Wood

Not bad, typical Beatles album. Norwegian Wood is the stand out, obviously.

Day 13 Oh, hey. It's the Beatles. Weird they'd add a small obscure band like them on here. We continue the trend of me not knowing a single song on here which is weird cause well... it's the Beatles. Whelp let's get into it. Drive My Car - 7 - the chorus on this one is pretty good Norwegian Wood - 6 You Won't See Me - 5 - the deciding point on whether this was a 5 or 6 was whether there was a guitar solo (or any other instrument solo) just cause it feels like that's what it's leading to and there wasn't one Nowhere Man - 6 - it's fine Think For Yourself - 5 - mid The Word - 5 - it doesn't help that I'm listening to this while sleep deprived but this song sounds largely the same as the rest to me so far Michelle - 9 - the choice to use the voices as the backing instruments is so good and then the little guitar solo rocks too. And the main singing is actually good. Incredibly good change of pace. What Goes On - 4 - and then we go back to songs like this that sound like CCR at their hillbillyest Girl - 8 - like Michelle but worse but trust me when I say it's not worse by much. Clearly I'm a sucker for whatever the sound in these types of songs are. Looking Through You - 5 In My Life - 7 - I liked it but not quite as much as the other ones Wait - 7 - nice song, sounds the most rock of any song on the album yet If I Needed Someone - 5 - eh Run For Your Life - 5 Overall: I think the album is pretty mediocre except for some fantastic highlights. 84/140 or 60%

A high 3. I think a lot of this sounded pretty generic but it wasn’t bad. Some good hooks. Nice little song about killing a woman for not liking you to close it out.

baseline beatles album. nowhere man is good

Another from the "weak entry from a strong body of work" category.

Yes, it’s supposed to be the album which showed the world that the Beatles could actually write songs, and started to experiment, which would ultimately lead to Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band, yadiyadiyadiyadi… But it’s still Beatles and not the Rolling Stones. I just have not the patience for an entire album of this polished britpop.

Thought it was just okay, not many of the tracks stood out to me. Felt it was quite boring compared to their other albums. Highlights were "Drive My Car" and "Run For Your Life".

The Beatles, more like the Boretles.... Am I right guys? Anyone? No.... Was actually in the cavern and rubber soul last night! Think I said it last time, but the Beatles don't do much for me. The hits are often great but I don't find the rest of the album tracks very interesting at all. However, in my life is a great song. Thought Norwegian wood was good too. The rest didn't do much for me, however it isn't bad

In My Life is still great, but not my favorite Beatles album.

This starts out "oh so Beatles-y" and continues to be unmistakably The Beatles throughout. Special mention needs to be made of Norwegian Wood, which is a track which surely must sit up near the top of greatest recordings ever made. I feel somewhat guilty of calling it that, given I've just this morning absolutely slated Joni Mitchell's Hejira for being long-form storytelling, but it is just brilliant. I also need to mention how absolutely bloody horrific "Run for your life" is. Say what you like about the misogyny of gangsta rap or dancehall - this is it, right here, pure and unbridled. Grim. Norwegian Wood puts this album to 5 stars. Run for you life knocks it down to 3.

This is 6th Beatles album on this list. The album was alright and better than some of the other Beatles albums. It was short and there were several songs that I was familar with. There not many campy songs which is good.

Okay. A bit boring. I like other Beatles songs better

Understandably influential, still fun listen but lacks impact probably had at the time.

i prefer beatles singles i dont really listen to beatle albums as whole not a fan of this one. i think the only beatles album i can fully listen to is sarg pepper still a few decent songs but i probably wont listen to it again

It’s the Beatles. It’s enjoyable. Drive my car is my favorite.

Kinda fun, jangly 60s pop. Definitely a number of mega hits

At this point I consider myself a Beatles expert, because this is about the 1002nd Beatles album on this list. Incidentally, I've heard this one before anyway. I don't think they're a terrible band, but they are TERRIBLY overrated. This album is from their "take us home to mum" era: meaningless 60s pop rock ditties that serve as advertising jingles in 2022. The first two songs are standout tracks, the rest blends into itself and I tuned out to an extent. But it only goes for 35min and I didn't feel put out listening. But hooo that last track... he wasn't joking, was he? There's no tongue in cheek, Peter Steele-esque wink at the camera going on there. That's a flat out abuse anthem. Guess Lennon can rest easy knowing 2022 can't cancel him now that he's dead, lol. 3/5.

I generally enjoyed most of these but they're not my standout faves... there's also that troublesome one on here about chasing little girls which is overtly threatening. You feel you should always rate the Beatles high, but I think I'll be true to myself

Meh. As I figured out with Sgt. Pepper's, I'm definitely a "Beatles' Hits" fan. And there are some of those here - but strangely I was mostly familiar with them from the early 2000s movie "I am Sam" with Sean Penn. The soundtrack was covers of Beatles' tunes by major artists of the day - Sarah McLachlan, Eddie Vedder, The Wallflowers, Ben Folds, etc. And honestly, the covers are mostly better (it turns out that the cover of "Norwegian Wood" by PM Dawn (yes, PM Dawn) that I remembered being on the soundtrack isn't actually on the album, but is still pretty awesome). So, again, it's THE BEATLES, but I still see no reason to replace my "Beatles' Ones" album with individual records.

Rating: 5.6 Best Track: Michelle

\"Norwegian Wood\" has a lovely melody undercut by a clunky chorus -- \"Nowhere Man\" has precisely the opposite problem. \"In My Life\" is sweet but John's vocals from this time period sound ever more callow with age. It took me too long to realize that the album had ended and Spotify were playing a random Love song.

vähemmän kuultu Beatles ansaitsee melkein jo sillä tähden. alussa on ärsyttävän itsetietoiset Drive my car ja Norwegian wood, mutta sitten paranee ja menee hyvääb 60-lukufiilikseen. etenkin lopetusraidasta jää hyvä mieli.

Käytännössä kaikissa tämän levyn kappaleissa on hyviä melodioita, joiden toimivuutta on vaikea kiistää. Toisaalta on perusteltua kyseenalaistaa, kuinka monessa niistä on oikeasti koukku: vaikka olen kuunnellut Rubbet Soulin monta kertaa aiemminkin, harva biiseistä on jäänyt soimaan päähäni tai edes painunut kunnolla mieleeni. 3+/4-

Short and sweet. Fun to sing along to I'm sure. Think for yourself is a bop. Kind of mid

Listened before: No Enjoyed: Meh, no strong feeling either way Listens: 2

How many Beatles albums are going to be on this list? This ones pretty good for a Beatles album Their voices are really annoying (not as bad as Dylan) Unpopular opinion-I do not like Norwegian wood Ooh la las on track 3 are the same as school of rock song lol In my life is a good song Despite rating I prefer this to bob dylan

Beatles i mognadsfas. Säkert bättre när det kom men håller idag sämre än deras senare album.

Alright. Interesting.

Oh the Beatles....meh. Oh the first song is pretty good to be fair. Hmm hippy ish. Pretty chill. Wow songs are a lot shorter in 1965. Got a bit of bop to it. Dance Jack, Dance! Alright Beatles... YOU OK.

15/08/2022 The Beatles – Rubber Soul 3.5/5 I’m a fan of the late era of The Beatles, and Rubber Soul starts to develop their change into a more experimental and rich sound. Their past as an early 60’s pop boyband is still present, and that makes this album worse in my taste. I think that it also flawed for having too many songs, many of them quite similar to each other. On the final songs the listening become tiring. But it’s still a Beatles album, and it’s very good. Drive My Car --> 4/5 One of the iconic Beatle songs when I think of them and their more catchy early music. Great pop/commercial song in general. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) --> 5/5 The Beatles + a sitar = Love. One of the first songs where The Beatles are able to experiment and include different sounds in their music. You Won’t See Me --> 2.5/5 First sign of the first era of the band. It’s okey, but nothing I like too much. Nowhere Man --> 2/5 Again, a song that could perfectly fit into their previous era. Even less remarkable than You Won’t See Me. Think For Yourself -->2/5 The same as Nowhere Man. The World --> 1.5/5 The same, but I like this song even less. I’m not a big fan of the vocals here. Michelle --> 4.5/5 Very sappy song, but very well executed and catchy. What Goes On --> 3/5 Again, first Beatles era sound. This time, the rhythm of the song and its guitar make it more likeable for me. Girl --> 5/5 The music from the movie “Across the Universe” makes me love this song for some reason. I think the film made me discover some Beatle songs I had never listened before and created a special link. I’m Looking Through You --> 4/5 early era Beatles song, but I like this one. In My Life --> 5/5 One of the best Beatles songs of all their carer, maybe not one of my most favourites. There is something they transmit with this song that is very special, both musically and in the lyrics. And I love the piano-harpsichord solo. Wait --> 3/5 This is the point of the album where I want it to end. Nothing special in my opinion. If I needed Someone --> 3.5/5 Again, nothing special. But I like this song a little bit more. Run For Your Life --> 2.5/5 Here I’m just a bit tired. Again, an old-sounding Beatles song, doesn’t add too much.

Een paar sterke nummers, maar niet alles even interessant.

This album was a pretty strong first listen. It seems like The Beatles were maturing in their sound with this album. I'd say the album is more front loaded than back. Still though I enjoyed the album.

Damn, still extremely straight forward, but some amazing melodies and song writing. I love Norwegian Wood, In My Life, and Run for Your Life the most.

Listening to it again after a long time and it's shrunk on me. Nothing on here is bad though, very good songs with some awesome cuts on the second half. I think having the vocals stay on one channel on the stereo version grated my ears a bit.

3, catchy but last song was just weird

I remember when reading reviews of other Beatles albums on this list a lot of people mentioned Rubber Soul but apart from Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), and Nowhere Man I don't really get it.

Some great songs on the A side, no doubt, but the B side is significantly weaker. And minus one whole star for "Girl" and "Run For Your Life", Lennon you creep. Fave track - "Norwegian Wood (The Bird Has Flown)" or "Nowhere Man"

Classic beatles sound. They have much better albums though.

Quite the album to come up as my first, and one I hadn't explored heavily. First two tracks are incredible and Michelle has an interesting opening but there's a bit of a blues-pop oriented lull in the middle, and the reason I'm more fond of The Beatles' later work. Nowhere man is pleasing on the ears, In My Life is a great song but not much else really stands out.

Eipä tämä levy mitään ihmeitä tarjonnut, mutta biisien ja levyn lyhyt kesto edesauttoi kivuttoman kuuntelukokemuksen kanssa. 3* vähän överi mutta 2' taas liian vähän.

Perus-Beatles toimii

Yes please. A sold Beatles album.

It's an OK album. It's hard to get anyone to be honest about the Beatles. It's definitely the beginning of their transition out of the brit pop and into more experimental albums. It feels much less single oriented, but the album doesn't feel like a full concept to me. Also, John Lennon is a piece of shit and caps the album off with a song warning an ex that if he sees her with another man he will kill her. That's the end, little girl.

There are time-tested songs on this album--Norwegian Wood, In My Life, Michelle--but overall this is a album from its era. Listening to songs like Run For Your Life can be harsh in 2022 as an example of the worst of the era. The acoustic guitars and sitar still ring of flower power freedom. The elements of the best of the Beatles are here but the same is true of all the problematic elements.

Decent Beatles. Sounds basic but that’s because they made the sound lol

What's not to like. Even if you don't like a tune, they are super short so it's over before you know it.

not a beatles person 🤷

Not one of their best but a decent album anyway.

Fine, lots of classic songs. Not one that I'll pull out to listen to on my own.

its a yikes for me on that last one john

A pretty patchy collection of songs. Many timeless but a few showing their age.

I'm sick of the beatle

3/5 not one of their better albums

I’m not a massive fan. It was fine.

The Beatles nailed their sound, and it is interesting enough, but it is hard listening for the first time in 2021 to imagine how it sounded at the time of its release, and im sure it loses so of its impact for that.

Some songs were quite cringe in 2021

Maybe I am bias of the Beatles but I never understood Beatlemania I understand the importance of there music and how wonderfully crafted some of there songs are but as a whole can’t strike me with the same passion as other artist not to mention the Beatles were catered to a a type of people I am not. Over all this was genuinely enjoyable

Liked it

Mid-60s Beatles. Pre-Pepper Pop! It’s good, but I’m not a Beatles fan.

While this classic album suffers from some low moments ("What Goes On"), the highs are incredible ("Norwegian Wood"). Clearly, one of the best albums from The Beatles.

An okay album, but not particularly exciting. Simple songs, some of them catchy.

First Beatles album, I listened to back to back. I enjoyed "Drive my car", "Girl" and "I'm looking through you". Overall better than anticipated.

I have never heard the majority of these songs for good reason.

just not the best beatles album. its got 4 belters and the rest is all very nice and that but just never a song i would actively choose to listen to. they are however the highest quality filler songs you'll ever hear, they're undeniably the beatles, well written, perfomed and recorded, they're just meh. clearly this is all before the beatles got intersting.

Not a bad time, but weaker than other Beatles albums I've heard

I've always thought of Rubber Soul as being the end of "old beatles" before Revolver kicked it up a gear.

A Beatles album without any of their notable singles on it. Going into this, I know it is highly regarded, but am otherwise unsure of what to expect. Side 1 of the album flew by. Very consistent. Very nice harmonies. Good songs. No weak tracks, but nothing massively stands out either, except Drive My Car which is catchy but a bit of a novelty track. Side 2 is a bit more mellow, gentle and downbeat. Still quite good, but doesn't sound massively interesting or innovative in 2021. I liked it, but I didn't love it. I suspect it is regarded more for its influence rather than as a stand alone piece. Judging it without that context, based solely on how much I enjoyed it, I'm maybe a little underwhelmed. 3/5.

My first beatles album and it was pretty much what I expected

Has the Beatles sound, but otherwise nothing special. A decent album at best.

It's The Beatles man. It's fun ya know? Not super my thing.

Meh. They have better albums

ddguuhghhgs gthghhehheeh dsuurrryrsduysyu john lennon fhhhfhfhfhfghfjfjfjghfgfj the beeeatles favorite track : wait

Not my first time: 7/14 sings liked You can't shake the wonder of if they knew music theory and had their ears enjoy such things as modular scales and key ambiguity, or if they were just idiots that can hear music well. Such is the case, this album is extremely mature for them, and after years of listening to it for the first time, glad to know my taste stayed the same LOL. 7 songs saved

This encompasses what I like about the Beatles - funky, upbeat bops with excellent harmonies. However none of the songs are super notable.

Norvidžan vud s glazbenog brt.

Not my favourite. I'd rather just listen to hits than 1 or 2 songs I like and and a bunch of misses

Fine, probably wouldn’t listen again. Some songs more interesting than others, you can tell this is a transition between them becoming a more experimental and influential band.

Norwegian wood and michelle were definitely my favorites

Rubber Soul was never a favorite of mine growing up, but some of that stems from the fact that my family owned the American version, not the superior British version. Another reason is that Rubber Soul is hugely influenced by the folky scene of the time, not really my favorite genre--and I don't much care for the Beatles' take on it. I never could warm to Michelle (sappy) or Girl (I loathe doowop, even though that's the basis of much of Motown & Philly soul). What Goes On In Your Mind is a throwaway. The Word is too on the nose for me. I don't even like Norwegian Wood, which I find sing song-y. I realize this puts me in squarely in the contrarian camp--Michelle and Norwegian Wood have collectively been covered hundreds of times, which doesn't happen by accident. And while it's true that Rubber Soul was a huge evolutionary step in rock at the time, I refuse to evaluate it on that basis. More to the point for me, at least in this context is, how does it play now? Fortunately, there are a number of first-rate tunes on Rubber Soul. Drive My Car is pretty much a perfect pop song, with it's relentless forward motion, monster hooks, short and snappy instrumental breaks, and welcome sense of humor. So much so, that it was still getting significant airplay alongside contemporary music a quarter of a century after it came out. You Won't See Me, Nowhere Man, I'm Looking Through You, In My Life, and If I Needed Someone are also standouts. The three part harmonies are killer throughout Rubber Soul. The fuzz bassline on Think For Yourself is a great touch. Many folks have a problem with the lyrics of Run For Your Life, but I think they're great, nailing the inner life of an angry misogynistic creep typical of the era. So, how to rate? Again, I'm probably underrating this, but I'll give it 3.5/5 stars.

I liked this album more than I was expecting to. Songs are short and enjoyable, all an easy listen, no clear bangers but underrated in terms of all of the Beatles music Saved: Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), In My Life

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Standout track... In my life.

For the record, I don't think The Beatles' music is shit, I just think they are overrated, cheesy and sound a bit dated. Torn between a 3 and a 4.

Sup y’all it’s Chanclas Batman a.k.a. Chanclas checkin in and checking out “Rubber Soul”. Beatles were dope, there is no getting around it (except for Lennon) but not enough bangers on this album to stand out as a perfect or close to “perfect album” in my mind. Although I doubt it’s the last we’ll hear of the Beatles in our journey down this rabbit hole. till next time ya filthy animals. Saved 3/14 tracks. Stand out tune: Girl

Alles drin, was erwartet wurde. Man kennts.

Not my favorite Beatles album, but still the Beatles.

Don't know a lot about the Beatles, but this is a good album, knew 1 or 2 songs, but overall it has some great melodies and interesting grooves. Solid but nothing spectacular.

Easy listening

Different from my expectations. The songs are still pop-ish, but have a variety of perspectives on love and involve a lot of musical experimentation.

Fun listen. Not too many hits that I recognized and that's just fine. I have a feeling I'm going to like the late era Beatles more than the early stuff.

it’s getting ... boring. personally I believe they coulda been just fine without making this album really nothing special

In myyyyyy life I LOVE YOU MOREEEE

It was good. Really short.

An enjoyable time with The Beatles today, can't hate Norwegian Wood and I love that it's starting to be a more experimental Beatles record! A lot of bangers on this one, like Drive My Car, and You Won't See Me!

First Beatles album, I listened to back to back. I enjoyed "Drive my car", "Girl" and "I'm looking through you". Overall better than anticipated.

Pretty underwhelming considering they're the fucking Beatles. It's still good, but it's no Sargant Peppers' or The white album.

I’ve always dismissed the Beatles as only being liked because they were the first to do something, because I don’t think originality means good. But listening to this and then reading up on the history of the album and the influences I gotta say I don’t hate it. It’s still not really my cup of tea, but I respect it. I like that they didn’t really make an album around a couple singles, but made it where the whole album has the same quality. Anyways this ain’t bad and I will stop talking so much shit about them, but not completely.

Rock'n'Roll Good Vibe Music / Dance

Good start and end, bit one paced at points

gets real weird at the end there

This didn't change my overall opinion of the Beatles, and didn't blow my mind as a new high point. My most recent listen of Sgt. Pepper's is several years old now, but I still prefer that more conceptual work as well as the noisier territory the boys occasionally visited. On the other hand, hearing a trim album full of trim but great pop songs is nice. The version streaming suffers a bit from the mixing strategy of putting all of a given instrument in one channel, which is a bit annoying.

Fine, nothing sprung out at me though

I’ll consider this the album where the Beatles just mailed it in. Like a mountainside creek: it’s cool, pleasant, and clear. But ultimately nothing of substance stays and you don’t remember it at all.

It was okay. Not my cup of tea. 2/5.

I just don't find the beatles exciting

The Beatles is one of the great bands of all time and I have heard many of their songs but its not a band I listen to a lot so most of these songs were new to me. They sound about what I expected, perhaps a bit slower. Its music that clearly show what time period its from and to me that isn't always a good thing. I get why it was popular in the 60s and how they have influenced countless artists and bands after them but I can't get in to it. I feel music has evolved in the 60 years since this and that makes most songs feel a bit lacking. I'm don't really know how to explain exactly what is missing but Its not music I will look up and listen to again. Their best songs still work fine but this album doesn't have any of those to me.

Not the Beatles... (Jk, I just don't like them for some reason) Update 1: I have the vague memory of listening to Michelle somewhere... The only song I've liked so far. Update 2: I liked the slower songs better but no song was particularly interesting for me. I think I liked Michelle the most, but yeah I probably need to give this album a second listen to fully appreciate every song but honestly it's not my cup of tea and I'd rather to keep going with the next albums

I'm not a Beatles person, i think this is personal though.

Didn't feel like there was any stand outs, not yearning for a relisten but didn't hate it, the crime of being boring and also some wtf songs drags this from mid to not it

shit must've been DIRE in the 60s for this to be as important as it is people talking about "the songs demonstrate the Beatles' increasing maturity as lyricists" and the lyrics in question are like "baby baby, call me on the phone / little girl please can't you throw this old dog a bone"

I’m not a crazy fan of the Beatles, their melodies don’t sit right with me and same with the voices

139. ok

Not.

2/5 very plain

I feel I can only describe this album as shrill. John's voice awful. The content of songs is probably good. But overall , the sound of it is just not to my taste and How much prefer of our psychedelic records of the era

I'm sorry but this band are so mid. There's nothing exciting about this at all. Perhaps it popped back in the 60s when it was the only music available, but going out of your way to listen to this these days is mental behaviour.

as far as b**tles go this was alright(listenable)

Not my vibe

Generic beats, not very captivating

Not sure, maybe not their most enticing album.

You know, I never really liked the Beatles. I also just hate John Lennon.

Boring. Doesn’t move me at all. Don't like the Beatles

It was alright. Nothing really stuck with me, except Nowhere man, that was dumb. I would give it a 2.49, but as we don't do halves it's gonna round to 2.

C’est fort mais j’pense pas qu’ils méritent autant de buzz que ça

The Beatles have a lot of great records, but I don't think this is as epic as some of them.

Still not a Beatles fan.

their voices seem to be slightly delayed has a good beat is that a banjo damm these songs are short they sound almost bored is that the style? the songs sound cohesive without blending together i like that i like nowhere man ok think for youself feels the best no other way to discribe it the guitar on michell is very nice i feel like a ghost is going to haunt me for saying this but this is kinda eh like a lot of people have done this better i get they were the first but that dosnt mean they were the best i dont know what instrument it is but it has a solo in the song in my life that was very nice the last song was nice until i listened to the lyrics like what the hell dont call the person you like little girl creeps me out but the beat was fire

I’m convinced there are 2 types of GenXers - those whose parents listened to the Beatles and those who did not. For those who did there is likely a reverence and nostalgia rooted in childhood. For those who did not I suppose a notion of what’s the big deal, I don’t get it. I fit in the latter and my opinion is that. The songs are ok. They’re comfortable. But they are not remarkable. Sorry not sorry. 2/5

- michelle is ganz okay - nicht wirklich mein fall aber

Not my cup of tea. Now I know why I don't listen to them so much

the betles

when I stare a long time at this album cover it reminds me that the Beatles are just some white guys off the street and that most people only like them because they're told to like them

Didn’t realize this had so much of an early Beatles sound. Would prefer to give it a 2.5.

Я слушал годжиру вместо битлс

Ну, стыдно признать, но drive my car меня прям в танец несет. но the word выбешивает до белого коления. все остальное? ничего

Meh, boring imo. Had one really good song. The rest didn’t feel like much

“That’s as bad as listening to The Beatles without earmuffs” - James Bond

4/10 Most of it sounds the same. The only songs that were somewhat decent to me were Norwegian Wood (Track 2), Michelle (Track 7) and perhaps Nowhere Man (Track 4). I still don't understand how The Beatles even became that popular but considering rock wasn't big in the 60's until them, I guess I should give them some credit. Influential my sweet little bottom tho, this album doesn't belong in this list that I'd say is for sure.

I don't hate the beatles, but they definitely aren't at the top of my list of bands either. This was ok, but I wouldn't put on again.

Ehhhhh it was okay. The last song was really strange...

I guess given the time it would have been a newish sound but listening to it now, it's a bit dull. A couple of good songs but overall forgettable.

2.4 - 3 really good tunes and some throwaway pop.

Obligatory "Every Beatles Album"

Mid except for the songs that are good. This one is kinda lost on me honestly

It's not a bad album, it is just not my taste and I couldn't really relate to it.

It's an album.
