Meh
Hij is zeker 'up there' met z'n beste werk. 6,5/10 Highlights: Almost Cut My Hair Helpless 4+20
Too bland for me.
Meh... Got bored quickly
I'm giving this 2 stars because I did not go into this album with an open mind. Everything I have heard from CSNY grates my teeth and I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it's simply because my frame of reference is mostly David Crosby being a water logged crank. Maybe it's because I have a particularly jaundiced view on super groups, suspecting them of being nothing more than ego stroking vanity projects. Mostly I just don't think there's anything they do particularly well that other bands don't do better. Simon and Garfunkle have better harmonies, better songwriting, more range, and have more fun. And such meager portions! 21 minutes is not an album. It's an LP. That's not necessarily a bad thing as 20 killer minutes is much better than 40-60 mediocre minutes. But for an album that regularly shows up north of #250 on best of lists, this feels under-developed. That goes doubly so when you consider the ambitious subject matter. They take on some bold subject matter such as loneliness, generational divide, carrying on but don't offer much in the way of insight. They talk of fortunes, fables, lovers and ladies all very lofty, but keep it firmly in the realm of LOVE. Like I said, I'm never going to be fair to CSNY. It took me long enough to come around on the Y and I don't see the same happening for the C any time soon. There's 3 songs off of here that have become legendary and they're not for me. They're nice sentiments, they're well delivered, but I could go the rest of my life never hearing them and be cool with it. It's not really fair to give this a 1 star. It's probably closer to a weak 3, but I I just do not like this project
Not for me but I appreciate what they did for music
Better than I thought it would be, probably because it wasn't as 'Country' as I thought it would be. It was also helped by NY having to share the burden of singing with the other 3. Some really good tunes on here, so it gets a high 2.
Almost cut my hair feels like somebody just got high and wrote down the first things that came to their mind, then they wrote music behind it. I like the mix between electric guitar solos and folksy wholesome music, but it also made it so I couldn’t figure out the identity of the group. Four-part harmony? Deja Vu is super catchy. In general I liked the songs, but nothing to set it apart from other decent albums.
Like this album (or at least what I could listen to) I will keep it short and sweet. I’m always a fan of the oldies but as a wise philosopher DD Freer once said, since the advent of modern music, it just didn’t resonate with me enough to get my music juices goin (I added that last bit but u know what I mean)
Listened to it all the way through at once on YouTube. I thought it was fine. Definitely appeared older and was not as timeless as some of the other older albums on here. I thought it was easy listening but not specifically compelling.
Meh. Okay.
It's funky, I like it. The songs all sounded the same though which I'm not too big a fan of, though half of the album wasn't available on Spotify which could change things. I'll probably revisit another day to listen to the rest.
Oldies!
super m of the 1970s
Meh
Hajutonta ja mautonta vanhaa rokkia, ei innosta.
Good ensemble but most of the songs were not my vibe.
Short album, not super memorable
Hmmm about half this album is missing from Spotify, so its not getting a fair shake. Still what I heard did not impress. For being a supergroup this outing felt distinctly average, maybe the best if the content is missing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Favorite track was almost cut my hair
Meh...
A lot of tracks didn’t load on Spotify and overall just wasn’t really for me
Artist yes, album not so much. To listen again
I don't hear any Neil Young here. The guy is good. But the rest is meh at best. This"supergroup" is missing a key component or two.
Just like their debut, it just doesn’t stick on me. It just goes in one ear and out the other. It sounds like a lamer version of The Band.
definitely from the 70's. cool music but overall it wasn't for me. I can see where the enjoyment would come from tho. Based on this, 6.5/10
Our House was cracking. The rest I really couldnt tell you.
boring as sin
I prefer Crosby, Stills and Nash
wasn't terrible but not for me.
Not bad. Bit too country
Not my cup of tea, but I didn't mind listening to it.
Not bad
So here's the thing with reviewing albums that came out over 50 years ago. You can't review an album comparable to what came after it. For me, no particular songs stood out except "our house" just because of the nostalgia of old TV adverts (in the UK anyway). The album came out in 1970 so It's probably "peak" "that sound" where bands are merging blues, psych, folk and rock (and a pinch of the Beatles for the audience gains). I personally think there were other bands at the time doing more interesting things and creating more interesting songs than what's going on in this album. What I think what stood out the most were the harmonies. They're very nice and what you need to think that this would of been done live in the studio, minus any autotune.

It was ok, not something I'd choose to listen to. I'm having to be harsh with scoring because these are all great albums.
I'm not really a big supergroup guy for the most part. There's some really solid songs here but it just feels a bit too disjointed for me and lacks that clear artistic vision of a single voice. Still an enjoyable listen though.
Since Young pulled his catalogue from Spotify, several songs are missing from the album track listing. Which is why the version that's currently available on that particular platform is way better than the full album. "But that means you didn't get the full album experience!" you say. Don't worry, I hunted down the missing tracks to be sure. Neil Young really does make everything worse. And there's really not a lot of margin for lame songwriting here. It's a pretty mediocre album even with Young's nonsense removed. Add his songs back in and it goes from passively mediocre to actively lame.
too much folk for me...
The sound of this album was refreshing and very interesting the first time, but it truly wears itself thin when repeated. Considering that I gave the first CSN album a 5 star, I was shocked how much I genuinely disliked listening to this. It feels like it has significantly less variety, leans way too hard into the constant harmonization, and is overall a step down from the first in every way. No song pulls off the sound as well as the best tracks on the first, either, so the lack of variety doesn’t even have a point. Lightning did not strike twice, and the songs genuinely annoyed me to listen to. Will not be revisiting to preserve the sanctity of the original album.
not really my cup of tea tbh... nothing against it just not what i want to listen to
bored me to tears and most missing from spotify
Reminded me of the beatles
Pants
Nothing remarkable either way. Just fine. A few chill songs that were decent to listen to.
Pretty boring to be honest
I believe I would of scored this higher, but such a bummer going back and forth from Spotify to YouTube while listening, it really took me out of it. If Young wasn’t such an egotistical drama queen, it prolly would have been a 3 or 4. Giving this a 2, adding “Almost Cut My Hair.”
Didn't hate this as much as I thought I might.
Beautiful sounds and harmonies. What is there to pull the listener in instead of falling asleep on the couch?
Didn't really hook me at all
The harmonies on this are really nice and tight but after half a dozen tracks it becomes somehow grating. Decent enough songs but it annoyed me a little. 2 seems too stingy, 3 too generous. It’s a 2.5.
Music didn't seem bad but wasn't a fan of the vocals.
Bit too folky for me
🙂
Deja Vu is smack bang middle of the road 60s/70s easy listening rock, not good, not bad, just exists. 2/5, totally unremarkable except for Our House, which is very good.
Serviceable background music, and most of it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome, but overall the content is pretty thin save a couple of tracks, the last two songs kinda suck (including one Neil Young wrote!?), listen to Young’s solo albums instead.
Listened to it. Liked two songs: Carry On and Deja Vu. ;)
Boring songs. They can harmonize well, but that’s about it.
Wasn't expecting the first track to be anywhere near as funky as it has turned out to be. I was expecting track two to be as country as it is. Grim. Track three seems pretty dad rock. Was this in the soundtrack for Withnail and I? Track four kinda defies explanation. It's slow rock with the dirty streak of country manifesting as thread-like veins beneath the surface. Track fives rocks out a bit more. Oh, this track is called Woodstock. That makes sense. Look, I know that CSNY are the ultra-revered supergroup, but I ain't buying it. It's exactly what you'd expect from a supergroup, and this is not a ringing endorsement. Everyone seems to be waiting their turn to do their bit, especially in track 6, which lurches hither and yon, veering between ostentation and banality. We have definitely all been here before. Our House stands out. It is simple, unpretentious and, frankly just lovely. The same can be said of 4+20, which seems to call out to Gordon Lightfoot. Country Girl veers wildly back to ostentation, with crashing chords, dramatically emphasised organs and melodrama rippling like the muscles of a wiry old man. It's the sort of track that has everything dialled to 11, and honestly, I can't wait for it to be over. We finish up the album (after skipping the remnants of County Girl, god what a chore) with a gloriously upbeat and funky Everybody I love You. Again, it's the supergroup taking turns to do their turn. Each turn is exemplary, but... Like the whole album, it's actually pretty damned unremarkable.
This sounds like it's only a chord change away from becoming a bloody Eagles album. Almost Cut My Hair is the most hippie meme song ever. Our House is charming enough and conjures up many warm childhood memories. There's probably a lot more depth to this album than I'm giving credit for. It's actually quite a radical approach for 1970 with the different styles. It sounds like a museum piece though.
It might be superclassic and all, but most songs do not appeal to me. Especially in "our house" the lalala part.... argh....
Still not really my cup of tea.
Allow me to start by pointing out this is the 6th album I'm getting from Neil Young's direction over here. One would think there are other musicians in this world, but obviously not our esteemed curators. (And for the record, I generally like Neil Young's music.) With that in mind, I'll refer to this particular album and point out that while I'd generally describe it "well, nice", I will also add I see little in the way of reason to listen to it again in this day and age.
I have never listened to any Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Nothing any of them have ever done. I already kinda had a grudge against them for never knowing if Young was included in the name or what the deal with that was... that said this is pretty good to start. They lose me when they lean more heavily into the country and western sound but I don't begrudge them for it since I'm assuming it's their style. It's a masterfully made album with clearly talented songwriters and musicians, its not a fantastic album for me but again I enjoyed a lot of this.
6/10
bof
Only half the album was on Spotify. Bits I heard were fine nothing more.
Shrugging person emoji. I felt nothing.
It was ok
The run of 60s/70s albums I've had is unfortunately blurring them all into one, this one being no exception.
Déjà Vu is the second album by folk rock group Crosby, Stills & Nash, and the first album as a quartet including Neil Young. The album has been certified 7x platinum and is the best-selling album of each member's career. The popularity of this album helped boost the sales of the solo albums released later on by each member. Déjà Vu is relaxed, but forceful with its music. Neil Young's guitar carried the album more than the harmonies did, but I appreciated all of it in its entirety. A soothing album that holds a good deal of nostalgia for 60's-70's America. It's not my go to album at all, but I won't tell someone to turn it off either.
Grating. Real 70s stink with the vocal harmonies and slide guitar.
It was alright. A few mega-hits I've heard a million times before. It's a little too folky, a bit too much harmonized vocals for my taste. But ok, overall.
Fine but a little bit bland. Had to source outside of Spotify, probably wasn't worth it
Helpless and Our House are good like, just can't stand much of Neil Young like, man's voice really grates on us.
It was interesting but not my cup of tea. I was surprised that I knew a couple of the songs.
Didn't enjoy.
Not for me
Rätt tråkig
Only one song I liked
meh. didnt make me feel anything, but pretty catchy
I like this "Country Girl" song, it's got a very sprawling narrative feel to it.
скучный
Boring.
There is something about this folksy rock that sat well with me but overall I wasn't a huge fan of this album. I can imagine this being a big hit when it came out, there are a lot of good 70's themes in here for all the liberteens who probably jammed out to this. For me, there wasn't anything that exciting about it except for the spooky album cover that appears to be like an old western (or maybe eastern Appalachian) scene. The men on the far right and left also both look terrifying.
It's alright, quite boring
It would feel churlish to complain too hard about this; the whole thing has a sepia tinged, mid-tempo pleasantness about it that is hard to dislike. But at the same time, it’s hard to get too excited about. Does music need to set your pulse racing with every sound? Of course not, but it needs to make you feel something. This all feels so comfortably within this talented array of musicians’ wheelhouse, and I find it hard to connect with Competent Musicianship, where that Competent Musicianship is the only aspect in play.
Not this collection of dudes again. I've liked their individual work much more than them together - it's just too much for me. They're on this list way too much
Saved Prior: Teach Your Children (kinda. I saved a version on the CSN deluxe version that I like a lot more without realizing that it came from this album. Talk about Deja Vu) Off Rip: 4 + 20, Country Girl, Everybody I Love You Cutting Edge: Carry On Overall Notes: Catastrophically, Superbly, Normal. Y? I couldn't tell you. (CSNY?? Get it???) These guys have to be one of the most overrated acts of all time. Were they the first people to think of harmonizing while playing guitars? I genuinely do not understand their insane critical and commercial success. Maybe I'm failing to grasp how wide reaching their influence is, because they sound so NORMAL looking back at them. These guys are the boomer band to end all boomer bands. Not that it's terribly bad, it just is.
several familiar songs; not sure how much I actually like them vs. know the tunes. Nope. don't like them all that much. Familiar bits of tunes, but even those songs don't do that much for me. 2/5
alright
Almost Cut My Hair es brutal.
:s
I went out for a walk this afternoon and regretfully put this on to accompany me. Starts off okay, then quickly becomes a limping foetus, then gains friction again, before firmly face planting into the forgettable friend zone.
Oef, wat zoetsappig en testosteron-loos.
meh
Background noise
I was ready to give this one star after the first two songs but I really enjoyed Almost Cut My Hair and Helpless. And the original Our House is cool I guess... That being said, the album genre is all over the place and the hippie psychedelic bordering on country vibe just isn't for me.
Too country for me but ok
It was an okay oldie album. Didn’t seem that special.
It's like creedence for pussies 2/5.
Just a bit boring.
favs almost cut my hair our house rating 1/5
Não gostei não
This is so boring.
Says nothing to me.
Not for me!
I got extremely bored because I reaaally don't like this type of folksy country stuff at all. Pretty vocal harmonies though.
Meh
No thanks.
Too old and country for me to listen to it closely
cmon.......
Umm nah
Didn't listen
Teach your children 8/10 ok album , not my vibe
Listened to it right after I finished my eco final. Loved half the songs just by listening to it once.
1/5 - Ei oo mun juttu man
Fleetwood Mac without the coke and domestics that made them fun
Not sure if I'll make it though this album. This is really not for me.
I now hate folk.
#FreeNeilYoung
Kinda boring?
This album does nothing to stand out and falls pretty flat, a good sound but very uninspired
Nope
aburrido
The millionaires hippies are at it again.
Mah, I was never a huge fan of these guys, but Woodstock is still a banger
not my cup of tea. not at all.
A little bit dated in 2025. And the songs are all haphazard.
I don't get the love.
Real socialist protest bullshit. Keeping this crap alive today. I care not. This skittle gives hope, but does not do a damn thing.
Really didn't enjoy.
this pissed me off
Country müziğe doydum yeto. Hiç beğenmedim.
Not my cup of tea 1
很棒
cracker music 2/10
songs were alright but like not memorable
Not a fan, I know people love these guys but I just can’t get behind it. Our house is probably the only song I listened to all the way through. Sometimes they sound like the hippy beach boys at times
rock folk no NNN
The good thing about this album is that it’s very short
Defines mediocre
It’s really almost a perfect album.
didn’t like any song.
Kinda boring, basic 70s album 3/10
Folksy warbling. Not my cup of tea.
This album bored me to death. Not a fan, couldn’t make it through last 3 songs.
I almost cut my hair is leuk.
Didn't really like it. Very country.
While I have sufficient empathy to see how serenely introspective and delicate this album can seem, I wasnt in that mood. It made me so ... tired. This... it answers "How to make one of the most vibrant times in musical history feel boring, dejected, flaaaat.. oh wow a droning steel string in the left speaker, and droning male rheedy voices on the right. harmonically bored in stereo. ****stop press*** the exception was the tralalalalla bits in "our house" was almost happy in a silly way. probably perfect for swaying and painting walls while off your face, half asleep... to twangy to sleep to, alas.
Not my thing
I ALREADY RATED THIS YOU IDIOTS
‘Folk rock supergroup’. There is nothing in that phrase that would be of interest to me, and the album affirmed this. Plodding and indulgent. Got three songs in and had enough.

no Young again - two in a row!
christ, do i hate neil young. it's probably nothing personal - i mean, i don't know the guy, but if i did, maybe it would be personal - but gah...that voice has grated on me since i was a kid. guitar sounds great, wish he wouldn't sing. the 87-part harmony thing is also cool and all, but damn does it get old. i'm definitely having a bad day. ordinarily, i'm sure i'd hate this less. i'm sure it's important in the history of music and all, but i just can't get past how little i like hearing the sounds it makes in my ears. i also do not like joni mitchell, and i do not like the song she wrote about wishing she was at woodstock.
Not my kind of thing. I quite like the composition on Woodstock, but Country Girl really grated on me, and I found myself checking how long was left on Everybody I love you
Caster Oil, four raw eggs and a blueberry pie eating contest. Listening to this, I feel like the blueberry pie after being scooped up by Lardass and dropped into his mouth. All I want to do is GTFO. The harmonization grates on after the chorus of Our House and it doesn't stop. This is only a 36 minute album but the urge to vomit came on quick. A few mins. later, after Neil Young starts singing in his ladyvoice, Lardass becomes a vomit machine and just starts spewing egg yolks, castor oil and blueberry pie. The end is near, and when it comes, I'm going to take a shower, rinse my mouth and brush my teeth. I feel awful. Raw eggs, castor oil and blueberry pie produce the same results as the bluesy guitar, Neil Young's voice and harmonizations. Be careful, it could get messy. https://youtu.be/zK0JaEde4VI?t=55
