I was asked if I had laser eye surgery because I had stopped wearing my glasses. I explained about 1001 albums generator and how it’s a great way to get out of a musical rut and expand your knowledge. It introduces you to things that may never have been on your radar and you otherwise may never have heard of. I then told them about The Hagman’s Beautiful Daughter by The incredible String Band, an album so terrible it made me regret the endeavour, grudge my Apple Music subscription and ultimately cut my ears off so as to never endure something like this again and that is the reason I no longer wear my glasses 🤓.

No, just no
Doolittle did very little for me. A few good songs (which I have on the greatest hits) this didn’t blow me away. I’m very much in the minority it seems but I just don’t really get the Pixies.
Not skipless due to Endless, nameless but still a classic
You know who’s a great rapper? Common. You know who’s a great producer? Kanye. You know what happens when they team up? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Whilst not my thing, there’s no doubt this is a terrific LP. Exactly why I’m doing “1001 albums to hear before you die”
Now I really expected to hate this but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected. So low expectations have given this an extra star
The good thing about 1001albumsgenerator is that you maybe start with the opinion that although you liked the Jam, you hated Paul Weller solo stuff, and just like that you get Wild Wood and your opinion is validated. A competent album that neither moves or excites but simply floats over your head leaving you no better off for having listened to it
KISS Poor
Not skipless due to Endless, nameless but still a classic
Loved this
Just not for me
Now in my experience, I’m not a fan of jazz but I didn’t hate this so 3 stars
Was never the biggest fan of the Chronic and 33 years on my opinion is much the same Dre can’t rap but the beats slap. Undeniable classic but maybe not aged very wel
Sugar made me wish I was diabetic
Thought process while listening. What a din. Don’t know if I like it but. Sonically some interesting ideas just a shame the can’t turn them into songs. How long does this go on for? Can’t wait to hear what’s next. Are these lyrics I’m supposed to be hearing? I bet people have killed while listening to this. At least that one was short. Jings, what’s next? Jesus wept And Just laughing to myself Certainly a challenging listen. Not my taste wouldn’t say it was good but also not the worst thing I’ve ever listened too. Don’t think I’ll be listening again though. Now off to recommend to others just for fun 😂
I get the feeling I would hear a song from this in a cool bar on a nice Sunday afternoon. I’d like if and make a point to listen to the album which I’d also like because it’s all that same song. Listened to half and realised I’d heard all this album has to offer.
I pretty much hate U2 but I was surprised to find I liked most of this album.
Good? Dunno but I didn’t hate it like most jazz
Did not expect to but I loved this
Do I like Divine Comedy? 2 days, 2 albums by them. I know I don’t hate them
Superstition is one of my all time favourite songs, hence the extra star. The rest of the LP doesn’t really do it for me.
I’ve never even heard of the Doors, Your Honour
Like most others, never heard of this band , although I’ve heard their influences . Thought this album started well but didn’t hold my interest for the duration
Liked this more than I expected
Didn’t expect a drum n bass, trip hop/ mo wax type sound. I would have definitely dug an instrument version of this in my DJ days. Overall quite liked this. A surprise for sure
Criminal
I’m a massive fan of rap music and I do like Eminem but find a whole LP a struggle. That aside I don’t think I’ve listened to The Slim Shady LP in its entirety in about 25 years and I must say it’s fine, I can totally understand why some people would not be on board with it but I’m not one of them.
No one is more surprised than me but I really enjoyed this LP. They sounded like they were having fun and it rubbed off on me.🎸🤘
Very very good imho
Bought this on CD several years ago and genuinely thought it was a greatest hits. Fantastic LP
Why didn’t someone tell me I liked Sade.
It ain’t hard to tell that this is a contender for the best rap LP of all time, maybe Wu-tang pip it to the post An excellent debut that really does represent a NY State of mind Representin’ y’all it’s illmatic 1 rapper, 1 guest spo (the criminally underrated AZ), 5 dope producers (Large Professor, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Q-tip and L.E.S.) 9 incredible songs and an intro. An album I’ve owned on CD, cassette, LP, MP3 and I even have the documentary DVD. Nice to take a trip down memory lane. One love
Meh GMT
Love this LP, still got my vinyl copy purchased for £8.99 at One-Up records, Aberdeen in 1994. Jeru is a great rapper and these are some of DJ Premier’s best beats. I am somewhat surprised but happy to see this on the list,It’s a solid east coast rap LP no mistake, just not sure it’s more worthy than countless other great rap lps released in 94 (well 90s in general),Never know we may see some of them later. I also wonder if we’ll see “Wrath of the Math” on the list.
Erm, I don’t hate this but I don’t like it either I’m barely down 2 songs in my drive to and from work and I usually do a whole album in that trip. I may come back to this at some point but I’m not sure my patience will let me
I’m a big fan of rap and hip-hop so I am fully aware of Bambaataa, (the good stuff and the bad) his impact on hip-hop and I’ve even seen him DJ live. I’ve never however, been a massive fan of Electro. Sure of course I know Planet Rock, Renegades and Perfect beat but I wasn’t excited to listen to this LP, but I must say I enjoyed it more than I expected.
Outside of the singles this doesn’t offer a great deal. In fact apart from the singles this is just a sub par MJ LP. Extra star because the singes are very good
FKA mid, There are times I think I’m going to love this but it never seems to get going, maybe that’s the point but I wanted more
88/89 saw the release of It takes a nation by Public Enemy, 3 feet high and rising by De La Soul, and Paul’s Boutique by The Beastie Boys, all 3 LPS were a masterclass in sampling and really showed what could be achieved “stealing” from other artists. Paul’s boutique has an estimated 105 samples, although I suspect there’s many more. The fact that it is so cohesive is testament to the production skills of the Dust Brothers Unfortunately the legal action taken against De La meant that the sampling laws changed and hip-hop has never really sounded as good as this ever since. Paul’s boutique-An easy 5⭐️ Beastie Boys are potentially my favourite group of all time and this might be my favourite of their albums (it’s not its Ill communication. It’s not its Hello Nasty)
LP fails to live up to the excellent title track. A good nog great LP
Is it for me, nah ha ha
I liked most of what I had time to listen to. After about an hour I felt I’d heard all I needed to.
In 95 I was deep into hip-hop, had no time for the likes of Alanis Morissette. Wasn’t for me, wasn’t my thing, wasn’t good. Now here I am scratching 50 and I’ve taken the time to listen to jagged little pill and it is good very good in fact I’m gonna actually give it a 5. Isn’t that …..
For every Beach Boys there are Butthole Surfers. Jeezo. Just not good
I am a huge hip-hop fan but I have never listened to this LP. I know other Jungle Brothers LPs, straight out the jungle, and raw deluxe get a thumbs up J Beez wit da remedy, not so much. I have also caught them live but the group just didn’t grab my attention like Tribe or De La, but Done by the forces of nature is really good, who knew? I really should have listened sooner.
Did not make an impression on me in the slightest.
No doubt, Amy had a great voice but it is a bit much over the duration of this LP.
Doolittle did very little for me. A few good songs (which I have on the greatest hits) this didn’t blow me away. I’m very much in the minority it seems but I just don’t really get the Pixies.
You know who’s a great rapper? Common. You know who’s a great producer? Kanye. You know what happens when they team up? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It’s fine, seriously what is all the fuss about Radiohead
Boston? Bostoff.
I like Stevie Wonder but didn’t really like this
Kind of liked this. Nothing stand out but nothing to hate, just a vibe. It really suited my Wednesday mood.
Today, It was a good day, because I got The Predator by Ice Cube and you better check yo self if you don’t think this album is wicked.
I am adding a new word to my vocabulary, Kiwanuka. I will use it in place of wonderful, excellent or beautiful. This sounds like Ibiza chill out has been hanging out with Afro soul, 70s blaxploitation, 60s rock, funk and soul for a weekend and had a great time. Kiwanuka LP 5 big Kiwanuka bouncy stars
AC/DC are a bit of a one trick pony and I feel you’ve heard one LP you’ve heard them all. In saying that though it a decent trick and fun to revisit. It just doesn’t push boundaries or offer anything particularly new or different.
Funky groovy disco
There was a time when I would have said this album is OTT cheesy theatrical nonsense and rubbish. All true except the rubbish part.
I thought I knew Iron Maiden but this debut had really changed my opinion
50% killer 50% dirge. I thought I liked this LP. I was only half right
Mid to soft, take these horses to the glue fact
At times wonderful and at times forgettable. When it’s good it’s very good but that’s not that often
A very important piece of hip hop history. No NWA, no or certainly very different versions of Ice Cube, Dr Dre and by extension Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Tupac to name a few. An album I first heard as 12 year old, I don’t question its cultural significance. I do however question its stature. It has 4 or 5 very good songs but songs with Easy E or no Ice Cube suffer. Still a 4 though for its impact
Enjoyable enough but who did I have to hear this?
Oh yeah, excellent. Only let down by what sounded like a George Michael cast off right at the end.
I hate prog but this was better than most
I now dislike Bowie slightly less than I thought, although the Jazz stylings of the title track make it almost unlistenable.
Groundbreaking, boundary pushing and genre defining three phrases that do not describe this LP. At times lovely and at times dull. Beck is more fun when he’s having fun.
Rapping or singing Lauren Hill has a great voice. This is a good LP very well produced LP. Which if a few tracks had been left off would be a brilliant LP

Not my cup of tea, but I did kind of enjoy it
I’m not about to rush out and listen to more Leonard Cohen but this was kind of good, Needs a beat thiugh
Yup, first track I thought this was too heavy for me, but I loved this rocky futuristic punk that sounded like a prototype Prodigy. Wouldn’t sound out of place on a Powell and Peralta skate video.
Can, Stop, Now, Yes.
And I thought I hated Neil Young. Probably a 4 but a star off because it’s Neil Young
Would probably have loved this in 2000, but no time for it now
So very nearly 5 ⭐️
Somehow very good but also very bad. A strange but enjoyable project
Starts with s banger but nothing else truly matches it
A strange one this, managing to both love and be extremely bored by it, sometimes within the same song. My overall feeling though is that I liked it
Let’s be honest here, I like OutKast but they have 4 better albums than this. It’s not bad, in fact I enjoy the majority of it. Big Boi’s speakerboxxx is the better of the two solo albums but it’s Andre 3000 who has the bigger song cause if you don’t know OutKast from Ms. Jackson you sure as hell know them from Hey Ya. I’d probably give this 7 out of 10 so I’ll round up to a 4 out of 5 but I do think this is OutKast’s weakest LP…. Idlewild doesn’t count. Also truly a double LP with this essentially two solo albums but it’s tooooooooooo long.
I know this is good but not for me. It does also sound to samey musically. Good not great
wirklich verdammt gut
Well, I wasn’t a Radiohead fan before listening to this and I sure as hell am not one after listening to it either.
A few of PE best songs on an ok LP
American pie is a banger and consequently I think the rest of the LP suffers. I like Maclean’s voice and the songs are good but the rest struggle to match the title track
Now, did I like this more than I expected or hate it less than expected. Not my bag but not terrible. Reminiscent of BodyCount, don’t like them either
Just not very good,
Thoroughly nice LP if ever so slightly bland, if it were ice cream it would be vanilla, pizza it would be Margherita and crisps it would be ready salted.
It’s like Bowie and Beyoncé birthed a big beautiful bouncing baby but better and it’s brilliant. Loved it
Automatic For The People by R.E.M. A truly great L.P. and an easy 5 ⭐️. I was 15 or 16 when this was released and my friends and I listened to it a lot as well as other LPs by the band. I tried to ignore the fact that I know I love this LP and the band and listen with fresh ears, I still love this LP. Although it does hit differently as I approach 50, far more melancholic than I remember. I have so many memories attached to this record and it is truly a masterpiece.
Like The Doors but from Temu
If I never hear another Grateful Dead album before I die I will be tremendously grateful
Not the album for a cold wet December morning in Scotland. Nice though
This put me in such a chill state, really liked it.
No, just no
Not good, not bad, not for me, not gonna listen again, not sure why I needed to hear it.
Love this LP, Have since 1994. An easy 5
Did I like some of this? Yes. Did I like all of this? No. Did I sigh, roll my eyes at times? Yes. Did I actively hate Mind Garden? Yes.
Like a Poundland Pet Shop Boys. Crap, and I do hate Cohens voice
Instantly forgettable
A self proclaimed prog gater, but…. I actually liked this😱 3 stars though let’s not get carried away
Not normally a fan of live LPs but this was quite good
Big fan of 90s rap but I was never really down with the underground. A fine, fun LP but just not my flavours. Humpty Dance still slaps though
BeYAWNce
Starts ok and gets progressively worse. A nice reminder that I hate U2, well specifically Bono. Four US LPs I’ve endured so far and this is worst
Oh Neil Young again🙄
Just because you have instruments doesn’t mean you have to “play” them
Good stuff
Like a diet Queen, a quite good LP
Yeee-Naw
Confirms what I suspected, I like Steely Dan
Said it before, I’m a big rap fan, I have and do however struggle with the British scene and I don’t count many female rappers as my favourites but this is actually quite good. I will say it is elevated by the production but I tend to care more about that than lyrics mostly. Enjoyed this, surprised.
A collection of what sounds like a bunch of industrial trip hop interludes. Not bad not good. All veg and no meat
Good brains
The only thing that would make this better is if it wasn’t a Morrissey LP. Really hate that I like this
Thunder, thunder, thunder, Thundercat NOOOOOO. Wasn’t for me
This must be why people like the Pixies
No, I want it better
A crap ton of Clapton guitar noodling 🥱🙄
A little of everything and mostly good
Never have I ever wanted to punch a harmonica down someone’s throat as much as I do after listening to this. 3 of my most dreaded words are Bob Dylan Live
When the Beach boys and Polyphonic Spree ran into each other at an amazing speed.
Very good buy very loooooooonnnnmgggg
Wonderful but at times dreadful.
My bloody ears
And here we are 22years later and America is still full of idiots, dangerous and deranged idiots. Not Green Day’s best album but still enjoyable
Starts and ends great by there is a good reason I am not familiar with the rest of the LP. “Something else by the Kinks” Wish I was listening to “Anything else but the Kinks”
Wow, an absolutely forgettable, uninteresting, uninspiring, lacklustre, non event of an album. To be fair though it’s listenable, doesn’t mean it’s good
If my house used as much energy as this LP exudes I’d be rich.
The good thing about a short album is that you can listen too it a few times, unfortunately this is a short album
Short but tweet
Very good
Very good
I fought I’ll ever listen to it again but I didn’t hate it
I’m now just over half way through 1000 LPs but I’m sure it’s the 35th time I’ve had “this” LP. Nothing particularly wrong with it but I really didn’t need to hear it
I hate this album, I hate fake Bob Dylan, I hate real Bob Dylan, I hate Ryan Adams, I hate the mouth organ. I hate I listened too this. I could go on
Sounds like it was recorded through a headphone on to a C90 using tin cans on strings as amplifiers. I think there is good music here but the poor production makes this a chore
So very almost a 5, I really enjoyed this.
2 Ryan Adam’s albums in 5 days, lucky me.
It’s like punk country, Johnny Clash or The Sex Six Shooters. I liked most of it
Loved the first half of this, sounds like a soundtrack to a movie about an alternate history where the allied forces lost WWII, LP fell off in the later stages though
I woke up this morning Dah na nana na Refreshing my tab Dah na nana na New LP to play Dah na nana na It wasn’t half bad Dah na nana na Still Hard, Muddy waters Dah na nana na Playing in my car Dah na nana na Helped my journey to work Dah na nana na But it’s not that far Dah na nana na Nice LP to listen to not great but fine Dah na nana na I’ll stop this now Dah na nana na Cause I’ve ran out of rhymes.
