Reviews (page 12 of 14)

Much preferred this to their previous album and good rock. not super memorable though.

3.5/5. This was good. Not may favorite by the group, but I enjoyed it.

i don't know it's pretty iconic but in all honesty most of the tunes don't really grab me, it's probably the best example of what it is

Feels like this LP wants to be a jam album so bad, but can't commit to letting itself loose. Does feel a bit locked into longer songs without much variation, but there are enough highs to keep listening from getting too repetitive.

Not sure I've actually listened to this one all the way through before.

Definition of a 3 i think, but not originating good golly miss molly is tough

Not too bad. I’m usually a fan of blues rock and the opener was great. Everyone knows Proud Mary is a cracker but some of the others I wouldn’t listen to again.

TIL: John Fogerty didn’t grow up on the bayou. And he did write Proud Mary. And I’m still sick of CCR.

I’ve never been a huge fan but it’s good enough.

Best Song: Proud Mary. Like the lyrics suggests, the song just rolls along nicely, with a sweet, singable chorus that gets people moving. Worst Song: Bootleg. CCR tends to have an enunciation problem, and it feels like it is at its worst here. Lots of southern-sounding gibberish. Overall: CCR has some iconic songs, although not many are on this album in particular. For lovers of the genre, I'm sure this album really slaps, but the bluegrass grows a little long after a while. It turns out I prefer CCR when they take on more of a rock approach, with a stronger political tone with tracks like "Fortunate Son".

Classic album from ccr. Just like the album before and the albums after, this album has soaring highs and really forgettable lows. Every creedence record has atleast 2 or more songs every rock fan considers classic songs and in this case those songs are Proud mary and Born on the bayou Highlights: Proud mary, Born on the bayou, Bootleg

Best song: Proud Mary

some songs I had heard, okay!

Decent

I feel like CCR is one of those bands you've heard so much it's tough to really judge. But it's interesting hearing non-hits w/ some fresh ears. Still not something I'm going out of my way to listen to but I can see the appeal

Not my taste but good music

Really good album. Has a good road trip feel to it. Very Forrest Gumpy.

It's not a bad album but idk, I feel it lacks something...

Not my favourite favourite album of them, but not bad.

Graveyard Train kills the momentum built by the first two tracks, but it picks up again for the last two songs. I'm not a huge CCR fan and this isn't one of my favorites by them, but it's still enjoyable.

CCR... Always nice to listen to them. I like the subtle heaviness of this one. This is not my favorite from them, a few of the songs are pretty ordinary, but at least, it never becomes boring. I expect to see their very first album on the list.

like this blue grassy sound. worth another listen

Innovative, a new sound, fantastic artist wo has started her journey

I enjoy CCR generally, but this isn't my favorite album of theirs. "Born on the Bayou" and "Proud Mary" are classic tracks. I can sort of take or leave the rest of them.

Born on the baaaaaaaajou! Proud Mary. Really solid swamp rock blues. Not the biggest number of hits.

Some good old classic rock

Enjoyed the swamp rock vibe. Fav track: Bootleg

I like CCR and saw Fogerty love and really liked the show. For some reason I just couldn't get internet this album. Might have been mood.

The blues will be the blues! Felt.it was kinda repetitive but can see how influential it is

Just didn’t do it for me. I really wanted to like it but I couldn’t.

Rating: 6/10

A bit slow and old school for me.

Issa nice chooglin.

Can see why influential. A little repetitive but hey that's the blues

Southern blues rock like my pa used to make. What's a Chooglin?

While these guys were never my favorite, there is some good funky stuff on this album.

Another good album from them CCR boys!

Yeehaw! 3 stars

"Chooglin" is not a real word

Swampy

As everyone says, this record is like a swamp which isn't really a place I'd like two dwell in. The hits are the hits and the rest goes on, overlong.

I’m a big CCR fan, but I’ve never heard their second album before. I’m looking forward to it. Starts off exactly as I expect CCR songs to, so it’s looking good. The only problem I can see is how short the album is: 33 minutes. It’s a little mellower than my preferred CCR albums, and nothing stands out a whole bunch, but for a sophomoric outing, this isn’t bad at all. Fav Track: Proud Mary 3/5

I only knew Proud Mary. Although some of it is ringing a bell, so maybe I heard it a few times back in the 80s.

I liked a lot of this! I think the first half was much better than the second though.

Quite enjoyable blues rock record -the first song is especially good

what knows Fogerty of the bayou and its pith more, surely, than I

More like a 2.5, proud Mary is okay.

A fun album with a few standout tracks. Doubt I'll re listen to the whole thing in a hurry but enjoyed it nontheless.

When you have a sound and it comes naturally, that itself can seem inconsequential to some and powerful to others. Creedence is so distinct in their rasp and twang that anyone listening has been to the bayou, got bit by a mosquito, eaten a po' boy, got drunk on moonshine, kissed someone with either no teeth or really bad teeth, and stomped their foot along. Keep on turning and burning.

Appropriately swampy.

The soundtrack for an as-of-yet unwritten swamp film noir.

idk bruh

what are these blokes saying does southern america speak another language. album cover is pretty sick. holy shit these songs are so long omd why. not bad guitar vocals are too silly for me though. good golly miss molly kinda a groove ong. this could be worse. not that bad. decent production i guess but i will never listen to this album or band ever again. for the 60s its alright. choo glain? meh 3/5

Heel typische CCR sound. Beetje veel van hetzelfde wel

The hits on this album stand out against the rest of the tracks

Listenable rock

The guitar is amazing in this album but I can’t get past the singer. His voice is not the greatest and it’s hard to understand what he says.

Love the vibe and many songs, but not fully consistent for how short it is.

^ this guy? Not from the bayou

Southern rock isn't my main interest by any stretch but CCR are one of the greats and a go to if I'm feeling the genre. This album is a fantastic example.

I don't know - it's Creedance. I like these songs. I think Fogerty has a thing about him that's pretty great. I don't think about Creedance a lot, but this is solid work.

What a sweaty, sweaty album. I dig it. Maybe more mid-tempo overall than I'd prefer, but some solid jams. Does anyone know what "chooglin'" means? Let's make up a definition: a Google search while chilling. There. At any rate, I spent most of the time I was listening to this record thinking about APOCALYPSE NOW. As much as the Doors dominate the soundtrack of that movie, I still think of CCR as the go-to Vietnam band. Did they have a tune in GOOD MORNING VIETNAM?? I'm gonna go Choogle that. Belle and Sebastian. Hey, they did say the word "Sabbath" in a song and the band initials are B.S. (if you don't count the ampersand), so you were at least in the ballpark of telepathic influence, Andy. Don't beat yourself up. I wanted to like that record more than I did, but I couldn't get there. The lyrics were fairly interesting across the board ("Expectations" was fun), but the music and tunes never really equalled the stories. My favorite track was also the quietest and saddest sounding: "We Rule the School." Give me a whole record of that and I'll be there with belles on.

Great oldies!!!

Love getting to listen to a classic CCR album vs their greatest hits. Very interesting this band from San Fran chose to harness the power of the Bayou but I think we are all better for it. Proud Mary is a classic and Born on the Bayou was fun too but the entire album just feels like you're flying down some old river on an air boat.

03/21/22 Pretty fun classic rock. I like the term some on here used - "swamp rock" lol.

I like CCR, but I thought this one was just okay. Kind of forgettable. Born on the Bayou is the standout track.

Such a strong collection. Always liked CCR but never got over the fact they’re from Cali.

Bluesy rock, surprised it was recorded as long ago as 1969 - sounds more modern.

Is this the definition of swamp rock? It better than the other album I listened to, but still not for me. Less obnoxious then I expected however

Can’t recall.

born on the bayou gem outras gems/jams mas creedence é aquela coisa né, acabei achando meio repetitivas as músicas, mesmos ritmos, instrumentação, estilo etc ... but creedence is a classic for a reason

Pretty much fine? I enjoy CCR and the style of music in general, just not something I reach for any given day. Good music to listen to while driving or working since I don't know most of the words and the music is kind of blues-y.

Fine but a whole album was a bit much

Definitely preferred Cosmo's Factory, not bad music by any means but just doesn't hold much interest for us.

3 stars

Just white enough for me.

This was alright. Bit musty.

6/10. Good instrumentation and especially good lyricism, just not that big on the jam rock of the 60’s to be amazed.

Solid album, a good southern rock vibe.

Some bangers

Not bad.

I liked that Proud Mary cover

The guitar is just sublime. Crunchy and distorted, the wailing vocals really add to the whole southern/blues vibe of the album.

Fun fact, fogerty is actually saying “born on the bay, ooh” referencing the fact that the band is from the SF bay area. there’s no way they’re trying to pretend they’re from louisiana, that would just be silly

Another nice CCR album. A mix of slow, repetitive songs (Graveyard Train & Chooglin) and harder faster cuts. I enjoyed it a little more than Green River. 6/10

Not bad

Seemed like a decent album just not my jam

CCR is often considered one the best American bands. They are but most of it was John Fogerty. Regardless, this album is very. Especially like graveyard train.

Toe tapping and whistling along - a bit too much screaming guitar for prolonged or repeat listening.

This is the third "Creedence Clearwater Revival" that I listened to in this list and how this band is inconstant! There are some very good albums like this one and others are so overestimated. In short, I liked it, but there is nothing special besides the greatest hits included in it. Definitively worths it, but the album is like the band, inconstant and unpredictable (some times very good and some times just ok)

It's this

Songs blend together in a smooth way, but it is also boring and hard to tell which song is playing. I was halfway through a new song before realizing the previous song had ended. Would most likely not come back to this album again.

Solid album, a slice of americana

decent album. not really for me but there were parts of it I enjoyed. I guess it’s a 6/10

Well, finally I can take a closer look at the work of the band that wrote “fortunate son”. To be honest, I was expecting something more unusual, but this particular album for me is the quintessence of country and rock and roll, as if a series about life in the American outback. Cheerful songs, sometimes carrying the scent of something cowboy, "Wild West".

First song not bad, not really a genre I gravitate towards. Gives me strong “songs my dad listened to on the radio when I was a kid” vibes. Proud Mary is literally that song my dad listened to on the radio. Decent album, 3/5

no thoughts, just credence clearwater, pretty nifty

Discazo.

Starts strong but kind of fizzles for me

Classic/Blues Rock: Bayou Country. Fogerty’s voice carries a deep raspy grit that matches the title, you know what you’re going to get. While listening to “Graveyard Train”, I can’t help but feel that I would rather get my rocks off on some Morrison jams, the pacing flows like pouring cement, steady and predictable. Fantastic cover of “Good Golly Miss Molly”, possibly one of my favorite covers of this song. The reason to come back to this record is the classic song “Proud Mary”, it has the catchiness that is needed from the record and is the best constructed song on the album next to the starting track “Born On The Bayou”. Overall, with such a short record, it leaves me either wanting more or something else entirely.

I know there's a big love for CCR in this list but they're just not an album band for me. The singles are brilliant but they can't keep the quality up over an album. Best Tracks: Born on the Bayou; Proud Mary; Keep On Chooglin'

Yeah, not bad. A little patchy, but I enjoyed it overall.

Solid. Not a fan of the Little Richard cover.

There's some great tracks on here, but they're the covers. And they're not as good as the originals so...

Swamp-rock is too mellow and slow for me to get a lot of enjoyment by listening to it. Bayou Country is not a mediocre record, but I really only find Proud Mary being worth more than 1 listen. 3/5.

Don't know anything about this before listening to it, which is nice. I'm already running a day late! Born on the Bayou. Sounds quite 'derivative' - but perhaps just because its quite traditional 'blues rock' sound. Doesn't do a lot for me to start with. Perhaps this kind of thing was more striking at the time, and just seems a bit cliche now? (Apparently this is 'swamp rock', but "fake" - they are from California, apparently!). Bootleg. Similar The musics good, though - nice melodies. Maybe it would grow on me. Nice growly lead singer. Graveyard train is too slow for me. maybe too 'trad' blues, if that's what this is? steamtrain 'whistly' harmonica bit is fun, but drags on too long. Good golly miss molly: is fun rock-n-roll. Bit of a relief after the one before. Good solo. Penthouse pauper: bluesy Proud Mary: i've vaguely heard of this, so i was interested. Immediately recognised it, but wouldn't have been able to put a name to it. 'big wheel keeps on turning'. This is truly a great song. keep on chooglin' - very bluesy. nearly gave it 4. Perhaps i'll regret that later. - if it wasn't for proud mary it would definitely be 2 or 3. I ended being quite pleased albums were not so long in those days!

Got close to that fourth star, but then they went and called a song "Keep On Chooglin'"

pretty good

mwah, expected a bit better from creedence

Better than i was expecting. Vocals got a bit much at times, but otherwise inoffensive.

Swamp funk and roll. Some all time classic hits that you are likely to know the words without even thinking about it mixed with some pedestrian songs. I have never heard graveyard train. Probably my favorite outside other then the more popular hits.

Wikipedia deep dives to learn more about the artists behind these albums have revealed lots of interesting facts and drama about the musicians, and now also about racist caricatures. CCR has become such an iconic name in classic rock, but would they have become as big if they were named Muddy Rabbit, Gossamer Wump, or the name foisted upon them by a record exec early in their career, the Golliwogs. Well that last one is an interesting name, where is that from? Sounds like some creature from a fantasy story. Nope... it's a book character-turned-doll in blackface minstrel style from the late 1800s. That wiki page is an interesting read, with connections to things Margaret Thatcher's daughter said this century! But I digress... classic rock! CCR certainly embodies classic rock. And swamp rock... or bayou rock... or Southern rock... or whatever. But they were actually posers from San Francisco! Working through whether to dock them a star for that. It also makes me think about how cultural appropriation is defined. It is usually focused on appropriating the cultural of an oppressed minority. But I bet these white guys from Cali got some opportunities that a black bluesman from Louisiana playing some of the same licks wouldn't have gotten. Oh, right, the music. The first few songs are incredible - 5 star stuff. But I was really thrown by "Good Golly Miss Molly" - I hadn't noticed it on the track list before I heard it. Jarring stylistic shift, and more appropriation? Or just covering a by an artist instrumental in the development of blues and rock and roll? Fogerty's voice is terrific. And yet, the fake Southern accent is sometimes a bit much. And why is "burning" pronounced "boynin" on "Proud Mary?" There is some great guitar, and some great harmonica, but it never gets back to the heights of "Born on the Bayou" and "Bootleg."

Enjoyed it. Not my favorite CCR

Started off really nicely this could totally be my thing. Oh yep I’m into this. Well after 4 songs I’m still liking it but kind of had my fill lol I don’t mind one song to change things up but an entire album is a little too much. I still think I’m enjoying it. I can listen to this. It doesn’t particularly do that much for me but it sounds good. THE RASPY SOUND AT THE END OF BOOTLEG ALT TAKE IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST THING IVE EVER HEARD IN A SONG. OMG. Bye. It loses a star just cause of that lol. Idrc about multiple versions of a song on an album, and I’d rather just have a live album as its own thing. They probably have those so, idk idc about the live versions here. Crazy otto is nice wonder why there’s no regular version here at least. Unless I’m missing something. It’s just instrumental apparently. Well this was nice it’s a 3.5 for me but can’t have that so it’s a 3 for the annoying bootleg ending lol.

Me hunting for crocodile meat in the swamp

Wonderful album. It has the vibe of "Born on the Bayou" for the whole album.

Nota:5/10 Data:22/05/2026

Some great blues rock but definitely overlong jams. Their version of Good golly miss Molly is dynamite.

An enjoyable and easy listen. A great band who knew how to write a hit, but overall this album isn’t as strong as I expected bar a couple of tracks that really stood out, in particular the epic closer Keep on Chooglin’. Will come back to this but most like to visit individual tracks rather than the album as a whole.

A couple of brilliant tracks and nothing here to dislike

Proper musicians and a solid listen.

Decent album

Credecent

Eh. I know it was probably revolutionary for the time, but, eh.

Some catchy tunes

Actually pretty good fun, had a fun time with this one. Sounds a bit like gizz. Keep on Chooglin'

Fun throwback listen - I don't have much to say though. It's CCR!

Heel typische muziek uit die tijd. Wel leuk. Ook van rolling on a river

One of the all time great opening songs

A collection of not my favorite CCR songs, but still pretty listenable.

so many ccr records are just better

Swamp rock. Country rock.

CCR's always pretty good.

Would listen to this album again, especially if I was sitting around a bonfire with a couple beers and good friends on a warm summer night.

Proud Mary bringing back childhood mems

Chooglin... Rolling on a river and God Golly Miss Molly were as iconic as i thought they would be

Classic southern rock feel. Jam-band-esque. Good background noise

Good solid album

Good ol CCR

Not my favorite CCR album but still good.

Classic CCR. Only knew 2 hits off this record, Born on the Bayou and Proud Mary. Great driving music. I also liked bootleg, rest the album had great sounds, but maybe blended together, songs slightly discernible from the next. 3.5/5

The kind of party we all want to go to. Love Fogarty's voice, and the choogle is king.

Naiice love some backwoods bayou boogie

Classic but maybe doesn't hold up

Thought I’d like this more than I did.Wasn’t keen on the guitar sound (eg. on Bootleg) has that 60’s twang. Ok on second listen I liked the album a bit more eg - Born on the Bayou

This is CCR coming into their own, but maybe not quite nailing it perfectly. The highs are high. Born On A Bayou and Proud Mary are all time classics, Bootleg is solid, but the lows aren’t cutting it for me. Good Golly Miss Molly and Penthouse Pauper are fine, but not standout. Graveyard Train is WAY too long, Keep On Chooglin is also a bit long but it’s little more fun and engaging.

Pretty good, slaps

"Proud Mary" A short album. I like the instrumentals.

Creedence demonstrates their ability to rock out, but this is a rather obvious ramp-up to the significantly better second album of the year. "SF band does swamp rock" is a fun formula, but the largely overdone vocal affect reveals that it is, indeed, formulaic. The instrumental palette enchants in the way the smell of wet moss does. Thus, it's a shame that there is not more harmonica in Graveyard Train. The rest of the longer jams work well, but that one would be better covered by a stoner metal outfit, I think.

omg stop why am i getting these type of albums make it stop i dont like it.

Classic songs. But really just a couple you'd listen to more than once. The weird thing is they were a band from San Francisco who sounded like they were from southern Alabama pretending to be from Louisiana.

I like it it’s got that 90s American movies music rock vocals and music that makes you move and dance at 8am

Feels like I'm in Vietnam.

It's a bit dry

Decent rock, background music.

At the risk of losing my Dude card, I just remain completely burned out on CCR - loved them like 35 years ago, got sick of them quickly and just never got it back. At least I also hate the fuckin' Eagles, man.

2.75? gave it a full fair listen on a day of good sun and even better mood. while i can appreciate it for what it is, Bayou Country was in my opinion, just alright. unmistakably American, however

It was fine but not really my jam. Didn't like the American feel. I also noticed that I had already known Proud Mary - still, found the album kinda annoying (especially keep chooglin')

Keep On Chooglin' indeeeeeeed! And why wouldn't you? Well, I'll tell you why, because chooglin must be something so generics sounding I didn't even realise the album had ended for an HOUR of autoplay. This isn't for me. It all sounds the same and it all sounds bad.

Tiene lore

Maybe it's because I don't like this swamp rock stuff, but apart from Proud Mary and the first track, this shit dull and feels inauthentic. A great voice let down by boring musicianship and poor songwriting. And Tina did Proud Mary better anyway.

Good memories

Not my taste

Not my cup of tea.

This album cover does a good job depicting the feeling I get right before I'm gonna throw up. Highlight: 'Proud Mary' (another oft-covered song that I don't have a strong preference about; they're all decent) Meaningful life advice: 'Keep on Chooglin' (this word made it to Wiktionary but I have definitely never heard it before)

Not really my thing, and that's okay. I can appreciate the vocal performance, but that's really the only thing that's doing something for me.

So it was like not my type of music but I liked recognizing the blues stuff but there was only like one song that stood out to me and even that I wouldn’t listen to but it’s not bad it’s really good judt not for me

Although this album is only 33 minutes, it feels so much longer. Songs that are 8-9 minutes long that just repeat the same riff and lyric and go nowhere!

Proud Mary obviously hit big but everything else about this record reads a little cynical. Led Zeppelin stole from blues icons but at least they didn’t make “the delta” part of their branding.

I don't really want to hear this again. I will not keep on chooglin

CCR has always just been ok for me. I am not feeling it. 2

Magic!

Think I liked the vibe more than the actual songs. Like the idea of being on the bayou fishin’ for gators. Not really that many good songs. Good Golly Miss Molly and Proud Mary can fuck off! My advice to Creedence would be to keep on chooglin’.

Love CCR but its just not that good of an album Don't get why this one is on the list.

was considering making a snide comment about these guys being posers from California, but the whole legacy of their work in the South is too complex to flatten into a pot shot. i'm still not a fan of them really, but i respect the focus on groove a lot. this is probably good with a cold beer. deserves to be one of the 1001? eh nah just keep it to the other two

Favourite: born on the bayou Was ight

Season: True Fall Favorite Song: Graveyard Train

Few solid tracks that show off that swampy, rootsy sound, but it never really grabbed me. I didn’t hate it, but it’s not something I’d go back to — 2/5.

Hang on, they're from San Francisco???

Perfectly acceptable if not inspiring 60s/boomer hippy rock - not sure it warrants a revival It’s like if southern food cooked by my Irish nanna - overcooked and with out the soul/spice Either Clearance or Mr Clearwater does a passable Janis Joplin impression. Proud Mary just pales in comparison to Tina’s version - all the right notes but not the passion

Old guy music

Didn't stand out to me. Good to know where Proud Mary comes from.

Day 14 Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival Alright, this one didn’t really click for me. The vibes are good and there’s definitely some nice old-school country rock here, plus a few classic songs, but I just wasn’t really feeling it. Maybe it’s the genre, I’m not sure. Because at the same time, I can clearly hear how influential this is, and I don’t really have anything bad to say about it. It just didn’t grab me and I found myself getting a bit bored. Favourite song? “Born on the Bayou”. Wine pairing? Something simple and no-frills like a house red or even a cheap American red blend. Nothing too fancy. Food pairing? Baked beans and steak sounds about right. Vinyl? Don’t want it. Overall a strong 2 out of 5. (Would probably be a 2.5 if that was an option.)

not my thing but maybe i just wasn’t it the mood

Yeahhh not for me. 2 / 5

not a fan of this, but again, not very much the fan of country; especially not the harmonicas.

Started strong but lost interest in it towards the second half

Meh. The singles are great and the rest exists

repetitive, boring country music

Good Golly Miss Molly was a good song, not a fan of others

Some nice guitar work and I like the CCR vocals, but this album doesn't really do a lot for me.

I’d say most of those songs are alright if you heard them on their own on the radio. But even this short an album is too samey for me

I had no investment in this band, but it turned out I was familiar with a number of the songs. Unfortunately I didn't get particularly warm feelings from hearing them again. Some of those I hadn't heard before seemed like weak filler. I am no fan of this type of screeching vocals. One thing I found interesting was how distorted the lead guitar is, compared to how undistorted the rhythm guitar - feels like the lead belonged with a different band style - but this was not enough of a phenomenon to sustain my interest. I was also interested to wonder whether this album might be considered historically significant in terms of white American musicians playing blues pop, how were they influenced by black American musicians playing blues, and what else. I wouldn't really know about that. A third thing I found interesting was even more outside the album. I knew the song 'Proud Mary', had not known it was written by John Fogerty. I read a bit about how other versions of the song came about (Creedence to Solomon Burke, to Ike and Tina Turner), changes in style and changes in understood meanings, that was quite interesting. Signature, a barbershop quartet, won the 2019 international quartet championship of the Barbershop Harmony Society with songs 'including the Ike & Tina Turner classic “Proud Mary”, so there you go.) This album Bayou Country? Not a good name, not a good album, it's Pretty Poor, 3/10.

This was better than The Band's self-titled album which I reviewed right before it, but not by much. The hits (Born On The Bayou and Proud Mary) are the best things on here. Also, it's really short, only 34 minutes. A lot of nothing enhanced somewhat by John Fogerty's voice and some twangy guitar.

Not my cup of tea

Hillbilly

Same as previous album, some great ones, some are nothing burgers. I get why they are popular, but it's a bit redundant and cliché

Overly long song graveyard train with mouth organ solo just goes nowhere, incredibly boring, keep on chooglin is as bad. Poor bassist playing this crap, at least the guitarist gets a solo. Proud Mary elevates it to a 2, just

Maybe it’s because I once lost a bet when I thought Pink Floyd would have more listens on Spotify than CCR, or maybe it’s because 1/4 of this album is the plodding Graveyard Train. Proud Mary is a good song and his voice is great. Borderline 3, but 1 track doesn’t make an album.

LOVE Good Good Miss Molly bass riff, wow. Not a huge fan of the lead's voice, but I love the country rock vibe. Ohhh I know Proud Mary chorus, so that's where that's from.

Fairly straightforward and repetitive. Enjoyed some songs, others not so much. Would listen to this album if it was already on but wouldn't go seeking it.

esses albuns tão ficando repetitivos já

Sure its good, but CCR isn't really my favorite band of this type, that whole notion around southern bluegrass, rock, folk, and such is a good genre, but not my absolute favorite. I'm almost not soundtracking a movie set in New Orleans or about Vietnam, so I don't need that sound. Decent listening to, but maybe wouldn't be a repeat listen.

more cowbell

very simple song structures. melodies are very blue-sy and seem to keep in single key (idk tho). lots of call and response, walking bass, etc. rhythms are steady and keep consistent. lyrics seem to be rather generic. i found the lead singer to be grating. i would probably rather listen to SRV or some other electric blues. penthouse pauper fav song. i found that cosmo's factory was much better.

I've never had much attitude for this sort of music - simple, repetitive and unimaganitive. But at least it was short.

People my age only say they like Credence because of the Big Lebowski. They have some bangers in their catalogue but this album is mainly just bland blues jams. John Fogertys voice carry’s it and

Primo ascolto non mi ha dato niente in particolare, tranne l'ultima, Have you ever seen the Rain, che però probabilmente avevo già sentito.

Fine as background music to some sort of Route 66 type American roadtrip....

I like some CCR but this album didn’t do much for me. I liked the swampy Graveyard Train and the blues influence was clear-but for a band from San Fran it seems a bit strange that they assumed these deep southern identities. Proud Mary is a classic by any metric/ and a yacht club staple. But I barely finished Keep on Chooglin, with its (never ending) 7 minute harmonica/guitar jam that lost my attention within 30 seconds

Typ två bangers sen resten fillers... och kort album dessutom. Kan tyvärr inte ge mer än 2

I'm wondering if there really are 1001 great albums in existence. This is boring, chugging, white blues by people who have clearly smoked too much weed. It can only really be included in this list because of Proud Mary and even that was done better by Tina.

This is fine but I don't see what's special about it and this is retreading ground already covered by other later Creedence Clearwater albums on this list.

I did not find anything special in this album. I found it quite repetitive and 2 songs that take up half of it and are just mediocre or straight up bad (Keep on Chooglin' and Graveyard Train respectively. The only reason that this isnt a 1 star is Born on the Bayou which is the only decent song.

álbum 4/10

Seriously, algorithm? Another CCR album? I'm having flashbacks to the Reign of Eric Clapton Terror you put us through last year. Fortunately, CCR is way more tolerable than Clapton (who pretty much sets and subceeds the low bar for human standards). Anyway, yesterday's review for 'Cosmo's Factory' applies here, too. The hits are great, but the cover song and tracks over 7 minutes bring down the experience. Furthermore, and unfortunately, the ratio of good to bad is decidedly worse here. Since I generously rounded up yesterday, I'm rounding down today. Tough break. Blame the algorithm.

I liked a few songs on here but it didn’t hit that hard for me

Album 33 Top 3 favorites off the album: Proud Mary, Bootleg, Born On The Bayou Another name I've kept forgetting to listen to. Unfortunately, ended up being a little disappointed with this one. It's not that it's bad, it's just not my thing. The album had a good groove for the most part, though I really started getting antsy with the longer tracks. Keep On Chooglin' had a really strong start, for example, but it lost me for the last 2-3 minutes. Oh well.

Not my thing really, but it is kind of a vibe

8 minute sing in a 33 minute album is insane

They forgot to put any tunes on this one :(

Almost as boring as 1969 made me believe. 2.5 points.

4/10 - Favorite song: Susie Q

i dont like swamp but golly molly miss molly was kinda good

ala smaraju ovi juznjacki polu country rock albumi zao mi je

Day 1 Bayou Country - CCR 1. NEW Born on the Bayou - music is good but don’t really connect with the words. Longer than it needs to be 2/5 2. NEW Bootleg - just not a fan. It’s not terrible. But not really my vibe 2/5 3. NEW Graveyard Train - too slow. Way too long 1/5 4. NEW Good Golly Miss Molly - upbeat at least. Not obnoxiously long. I like the instruments used. Improving. 3/5 5. NEW Penthouse Pauper - not the worst, not the best. Still not good enough to make me download it. 3/5 6. Proud Mary - a classic. An icon. The only song I knew from this album. However I still prefer Tina Turner’s version, sorry not sorry. 4/5 7. NEW Keep on Chooglin’ - Yeah no. Almost 8 minutes of this and there’s barely even words. Not for me. 1/5 Overall: 2.28

Having listened to CCR before, this collection of songs wasn’t my favorite, not the worst either. Shirt easy listen but no songs really jumped out as different, all fairly the same Favorite Song: Born on the bayou Ideal listening situation: propeller boat ride in the swamp Would I listen Again?: probably not

Has a few good songs, but unfortunately this is a band where the Best of would be my go to album

1. born - 3 2. bootleg - 1.5 3. train - 2 4. molly - 1.5 5. pauper - 1.5 6. mary - 3 7. keep - 1.5

This was really dull outside of the opener. The version of Proud Mary was utterly lifeless.

too old 😭

Too Southern for me. Didn't mind the composition, but wouldn't hurt if they sped up the tempo.

Decent record. Had a few hits. Some songs were extended jams with no change ups or direction. Didn't move me much, sounds like thrown together jam sessions through the majority of it.

I can't do too much more white man blues rock

Beaucoup de fade out. Chanson préférée : Born on the Bayou, Penthouse Pauper

This is probably the shortest amount of time I’ve gone in this project between hearing two albums from the same artist. My last CCR album was less than two weeks ago, and unsurprisingly in that timeframe I haven’t become a convert. This album is also just kind of quality southern blues inspired dad rock. Obviously Proud Mary is a song whose reach extends past the legacy of this album, but otherwise I don’t really remember much about it. I don’t think it’s a must listen just for one specific song.

CCR yet again, and yet again it went completely over my head. This is the third (and thankfully last) CCR album on the list, but it's also the earliest. Honestly all three albums sounded pretty interchangeable to me. At least each one has 1-2 classic songs. Key tracks: Born on the Bayou Proud Mary

Not my vibe. But not horrible.

I did not find this album very entertaining, at times it felt repetitive, and at some points in the longer songs I was kinda waiting for it to be over. I listened to the whole thing so definitely did not hate it, but I do not think this is something I’ll come back to.

Not an influential album at all. Not really a stand out and not music from the Bayou either. Blues works on the slower and last tracks, otherwise a bit insipid.

It sounded good, especially the popular songs that are already on the radio. Nothing that blew me away that I hadn’t already heard from their radio songs.

some parts are good but it's js not my vibe

Swampy blues album. Not bad, but there are better blues albums. CCR are more appealing to me when they are more ambitious with their songs. 2.5/5

I like a lot of CCR stuff, none of it seemed to be on this album. This seemed just too much CCR, it was overrun with high levels of CCR-ness. Someone turned up the CCR to 11. It's an overbaked cake, a hat on a hat, CCR squared. Even the voice was too much for me. Too CCR, too American, too much.

fogerty's voice, my dad loved ccr good shit. i know the title track, pround mary, and p sure ive heard chooglin bc i know the name lol lets see title track could have been shortened but its a good song bootleg next isnt bad but its not gonna get listened to again. good vibe but not a lot of song k graveyard train is fuckin 9 mins long. oh boy. damn. didnt need to be. good golly miss molly was better by lil richard but deece cover penthouse pauper is pretty good. suffers from post-jimi guitar soloing where, while this shit was high level a few years prior, in 1969 you just want some more but whateva pretty sure proud mary is the winner on this bidge chooglin... jesus christ this album kinda sucks, good sound and vibe but like 20 minuters of this album is jamming on 1 chord better ccr songs but proud mary is the obvious highlight

??? no idea? c

good. type of music to listen sometimes

Really not my cup of tea. Super specific and repetitive. Saved by Proud Mary.

Not a big CCR fan but grew up with the parents loving them. I knew most of the songs but it still didn't move me.

This was meh. Very much a product of its time, and that does provide some highlights (Good Golly Miss Molly, Proud Mary). Still don’t know what chooglin is. 5/10

Classic rock is generally not my bag, maybe because it's generally overplayed on the airways but also because I grew up in the punk and post-punk era. Classic rock was just wrong on so many different levels.

113/1089 Rollin’ on the River is actually called Proud Mary and was a cover?! you learn something new everyday This was a fine album, it’s a genre that doesn’t excite, or really interest, me but listening to it didn’t feel like a chore, it was to the point and felt quite emblematic of it’s time 24/100

J'aime pas

Best to stick to the singles

Just not a huge CCR fan

I'm thinking my best bet for this band is to buy a Best Of album, there is rarely more than one song on any of their albums that I like

Perhaps I'd need to expose myself to more blues and rock to appreciate it, but I was just bored. Nothing stood out to me, the songs are pretty simply composed and the instrumentation is traditionally barebones.

I know so many CCR songs. How can this album only have that song I know way better from Tina?

I'm pretty sick of CCR.

All the songs sounded the same

Great band but average album

Not bad

I really enjoyed Cosmo's Factory more. Memorable mention to; Born on the Bayou,Proud Mary & Keep on Chooglin'.

There are several Creedence albums better than this one — two of which were also released in 1969. Aside from “Proud Mary” and to a lesser extent “Born on the Bayou,” nothing notable here. A very boring 8 minute blues song that goes nowhere (“Graveyard Train”) and a surprisingly heartless cover of “Good Golly Miss Molly.” They would shortly up their game quite a bit.

A 30 min album?

This was my first start-to-finish listen of a CCR album that wasn't a greatest hits. The "swamp rock" drone bored me after a while. This album has 2-3 really terrific songs (and 1 of them is 1 on the greatest songs of all-time) but that doesn't save this full album for me. I'd still rather listen to the greatest hits.

The best song on here was a cover. Songs ranged from fine to boring.

A couple of interesting songs (Good Golly Miss Molly probably the best) and Proud Mary is a classic, but not enough to get over the slow filler in the rest of it. Not a big fan of the "cowboy American" rock genre and this seems to be a typical bit of that.

Some fairly fun bops here, but the whole thing sounds pretty cheesy/cliché by today's standard. Probably totally unfair since this was released in 1969, but here we are. Favourite track: Graveyard Train.

“Born on the Bayou” and “Proud Mary” are some of CCR’s best songs. I didn’t realize how short this album was, which is even more noticeable when skipping “Graveyard Train” and “Keep on Chooglin’” - both are long songs that just meander about and I get bored of them halfway through.
