Clássico dos Doors
Ekstremt kompetent blues rock. Liker faktisk dette bedre enn debutalbumet. Top 3: The Spy, Ship of Fools, Peace Frog
One of the best albums ever created. I love everything about it.
Did this age well? Probably not. But for most of us that were alive in the 70s, I am certain that the majority of us listened to this album. And most of us probably liked this album and some us (like me) loved it. (Maybe the drugs helped...? Fricking who cares?)
Finally got around to listening this one, 3 weeks later. It's the Doors, it's a really solid late 60's hit machine. I find the first side, the Hard Rock Cafe side, to be my favorite. Just has a few more hits and more edge than the other side. Stylistically, it really falls between their early and later work, and that's where it sits in the discography as well.
Tolles Album!
Right at the top. One of the first The Doors' albums I listened to -- full-on nostalgia.
Очень интересный альбом в своем жанре, крутые хиты и использование настоящего баса
So good I really like.
At the end of the day I always go back to the doors ❤️
Man I knew The Doors were taking pills but I never knew they were taking happy pills
Buff Roadhouse Blues para mi ya es un himno y son 5 estrellas solo por existir!
Second favorite The Doors album, this has some excellent tunes on it. Highlights for me are Roadhouse Blues, Indian Summer, and one of my favorite The Doors songs, Peace Frog. Not a single dud on the entire album. Absolutely worth a listen.
Love the Doors! Album is a classic!
Excellent!
The kind of album that makes you want to steal a car, get in it and drive west, play the album full blast. When it ends, get out, get into a fight. Then get back into the car, come to town, and the enter the most prestigious hotel of all time: Morrison Hotel
That's a real hotel but they didn't have permission for the shot, so they quickly snuck in whilst the clerk was away and grabbed the it! I'm a big Doors fan! I've never ranked the albums, but this is not my fave, i'm not even sure this would make top 3 but they have en insanely high quality body of work, 6 albums, all released within 4 years. _Morrison Hotel_ saw the beginning of a new but short chapter for The Doors moving into more blues-oriented territory following the poorly received and more orchestral _The Soft Parade_. Whilst not my fave, it does contain some of my fave songs. _Roadhouse Blues_, _Peace Frog_ and _Waiting for the Sun_ would all be in conversation for my top 10 . Ultimately, it doesn't quite maintain its quality throughout which is why this is a 9 rather than 10/10, but in a 5-star rating scale, that's still maximum points!
After their less than spectacular previous album, Soft Parade, the Doors decided to get back to basics and boy did they. This album stands shoulder to shoulder with any of their earlier classic albums. The Doors at their best.
Really good disc, every instrument has it's rol and i love it
5 out of 5. So obsessed with the Doors entire discography...Morrison hotel is perfection. Teen me is thriving today
I was waiting for this one to come up! My dad introduced me to this album and it's been a staple for me when I listen to long-form music. Peace Frog / Blue Sunday has got to be my favorite.
The Doors es Uno de esos grupos que he apreciado con el tiempo. Actualmente me parecen monumentales. Y este disco es uno de los tres mejores que publicaron.
de este album me gusta solo una cancion , el resto nada
Очень люблю The Doors
great
catchy
One of the Doors best albums imo
Great blues psych rock album with good variety. There are cool changes in the songs and between them as well. The opening run of songs is just really great starting with the rocker Roadhouse Blues thru the funky Peace Frog then the cool transition to Blue Sunday. I would argue one of the greatest opening runs on an album. The back end slows down some with songs like Indian Summer, but they are great as well. Closing with the thick bass rocker Maggie M'Gill. This album really is the epitome of that gritty 60' 70's LA sound.
The Doors don't disappoint. Thanks to their commitment to the music, we get a wide variety of styles, a couple of solid hits, and more experimental poetry from the master himself. Considering the number of albums they produced in a short period of time, this is more of a look into the heart of the artistic drive of the band. LA Woman is still the pinnacle, but I love this stop along the way.
There's just nothing like The Doors, the eerie vibe, the great blues-y sound, the way it feels somehow chill and hard-going at the same time. This is just great stuff
Absolute gold.
Always a classic. Forgot how good this album was.
loooove the doors
perfect album
Really liked this album, my favorites were The Spy, Roadhouse Blues, and Land Ho was really interesting too.
Probably my favorite doors album. Their sound really evolved with this one to more of a blues psych sound
5/5
Really loving what I've seen from The Doors on the generator, honestly I didn't even realize who wrote this one when I started and after I started head bopping I was like "dang I should probably check". Not quite the high to high to high to high pacing that would get this among the ranks of my 'perfect albums' so far but very fun, great instrumentation, just a blast to listen to
I was so excited for this listen. I just love the doors man, they are so good
Hell yeah this rocks
My fave is the spy 8 / 10
First time listening the the doors and very impressed. Instrumentals are amazing and I found myself paying more attention to it then vocals( I even forgot about the vocals sometimes). Although I don’t like the band (as in actual members, particularly Jim Morrison), their music is actually good. Song reviews in no particular order: Maggie M’Gill- Starts very nice. Very satisfying to listen to with headphones as parts are separated left and right ear. Love the bass. Percussion is at just the right volume. Guitar has bit of a percussive feel. Love the silence and how it starts up again. Lyrics are a bit basic but perfect for the piece. Found bobbing my head to the music. Added to playlist. 5/5 You make me real- the start sets the vibe straight away. Instrumentals 10/10. Keyboard mvp. I love the rasp in the vocals. Could see this as a very good dance music for people back in the day. I love the break and the way the keyboard and percussion come back. Cymbals on the drums add to the rhythm. I like the accenting and flow of the piece. Nice and quick. No complaints. 5/5 Indian summer- has a lot more chill vibes than other songs on album. Makes me feel like I can kick back, close my eyes and enjoy the music. Reminds me of siting on a couch and looking outside and watching the rain. Love the percussion and guitar. Felt like a rainy summer day. 5/5 Roadhouse blues- right from the start I love it. Harmonica is nice. Keyboard adds a bit of flair. Once again found myself moving to the music. The instrumental music is just wow, sensational. I like the call and response with vocals and harmonica and then guitar. Bit of a jazz like ending. 5/5 Land ho!- has a feel good vibe. Once again the intro and instrumentals slay. Vocals seem like more of a focus than other songs in this album. Love the breakdown before the first land ho is yelled. Has a bit of a folk or seashanty vibe; like a story is being told. 5/5 Peace frog- love the percussion, bass and keyboard intro. Rhythmic call and response guitar and keyboard is satisfying. Backing vocals add a nice touch. Guitar solo is amazing. I love the changes in musical textures, makes the piece a lot more interesting for the whole time.5/5 Waiting for the sun- more laid back. Made me kinda sleepy. Vocals were more impressive in the piece. Guitar performance was nice. Keyboard added nice touches. Bass and percussion held the whole song together. The little rests were nice. I love the flow of the song. Again rhythmically great. Felt very original. Catchy and found myself singing along towards end. This song surprised me and was not what I thought it was at the start. 5/5 Blue Sunday- vocals were good here. I like the accents and flow of the piece. Nice guitar runs. Had a romantic feel. Nice non-lexical vocals. Guitar solo was solid. Reminds me of the summer. 5/5 Ship of fools- the music had me right away. Love the keyboard. Felt a bit rebellious. I like the message they are trying to convey. Guitar has attitude. Drums are slaying. 5/5 The spy- another iconic intro, I swear they slay every time. I felt like a spy. Felt a bit western. I like how they change musical texture and thin in out to a few elements and bring it back. Solid vocal performance. Feels like I’m an undercover cia agent walking down the street. 5/5 Queen of the highway- keyboard feels a bit retro. Drums is domin-eating. Love the tempo pick up. Top tier accenting once again. Guitar doing some cool stuff. 5/5
AAAAGH I REALLY LIKED THIS ALBUM.. PEAK AF.. Reminds me of many things i like..🪚
favorite songs: waiting for the sun peace frog/blue sunday
Great!
Love it. Own it.
Jim Morrison's voice has the level of persuasiveness and smoothness of a married, silver fox man. It blends so well with the raw-like instrumentals of the tracks. I just like The Doors hehe. Favorite(s): You Make Me Real; Peace Frog/Blue Sunday; Land Ho!
The Doors at their best
The whole album hits, might not be as hard as the leadoff Roadhouse Blues, but the short track list is very easy to listen to.
One of the best Doors albums, which is saying a lot. Bluesy rock and roll, less psychedelic than their peers or some of their other stuff. The transition from Peace Frog to Blue Sunday is superb.
Bluesy, gravelly, alcoholic loveliness
ily forever jim <3 the 2020 remaster has some very fun takes
The mix of rock and blues are marvelous. It was a great experience to hear this album and maybe I can revisit this again someday.
Now Morrison Hotel was just an absolutely fantastic album. I already had high hopes coming into this album as i really liked L.A. Woman a lot too but this one not only managed to meet those expectations but it also managed to be better than the album i mentioned prior. This album managed to be just nothing but bangers throughout all it's runtime. They all had this really fun blues style which i was always so excited to hear and each song managed to keep that fun but also still was able to be distinct enough from each other to never at any point make me sick of it. I genuinely can't think of a single bad thing to say about this album, it's just so good. Best Song: Waiting for the Sun Worst Song: Indian Summer
An absolute classic, not the best Doors album but top-tier nonetheless. Favourite tracks: Roadhouse Blues & Peace Frog. Already in rotation. 5/5
Funny timing, I was listening through LA Woman and An American Prayer yesterday. Fantastic listen, top to bottom, Morrison really was something wild.
I really enjoyed it, it felt very nostalgic.
Awesome
Yeah this kicked ass. Everything sounded great and I really loved it
Another example where I've heard a song or two but never listened to the whole album. I really enjoyed it. I've always enjoyed the Doors but this was a fresh take.
Amazing album
5th album with group. Good Songs - Roadhouse Blues, Waiting for the Sun, You Make Me Real, Peace Frog, Blue Sunday, Ship of Fools, Land Ho!, The Spy, Queen of the Highway, Indian Summer, and Maggie M'Gill. Bad Songs - Nothing. I've had enough of this classic rock. Where's Fiona Apple? It's not even that is a bad album. I'm just getting annoyed at how oversaturated this list is with classic rock.
A classic rock powerhouse with a soulful voice.
simplemente perfecto
5 Star
Que banda! Que álbum! Definitivamente um 5 estrelas que poderia ser 10. QoA Adonis New.
Ik that one Kids in the Hall sketch ("Into The Doors") was making fun of Doors fans but that is unironically how I feel about Morrison Hotel.
Great album. Bluesy rock. Morrison had a cool voice. I enjoyed this one and I am not really a Doors fan.
The organ feels dated, but the songwriting does not. Still goes very hard
It’s the Doors. Always good.
Love the doors. This isn’t their first album though which I think is more essential
Hlustaði uppi í rúmi með te og pípu og strúnu.
Stone cold classic
Great album, great flow, great voice. Very mystical. Stand out song - Roadhouse blues
"Doors fans aren't made, they're born! I think, right now, in Africa, there’s some guy madly beating on a drum. He's a Doors fan. Or an old lady on the bus sucking humbugs. She's a rider on the storm. But she ain’t never heard the sounds." "I want you to steal a car." "I have a car." "Steal a car!" "Steal a car. Get in it and drive west. Play the tape full blast. When the tape ends, get out and get into a fight. Then get back into the car and come to town and meet me at the Cargas Club." "What will you do?" "I will let you in to the most prestigious hotel of all time." "Which is?" "Morrison Hotel!" "Then what?" "Then... you’re gonna be a Doors fan, man." Kids in the Hall notwithstanding, what a great album but a unique and awesome band. The "deep" lyrics are adolescent quality poetry, but the guitar, organ, drums, vocals, the vibe... truly amazing. The Doors are a mood unto themselves. Great album with some awesome songs on it.
My favorite Doors album, everything just comes together all the way through. No filler here
I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer The future's uncertain and the end is always near
Peak Morrison. Quite the listen
Previously rated: The Doors (5/5) L.A. Woman (5/5) ********************** An album with no bad tracks. Favorite track: Peace Frog
Great album!
Also loved this album. Surprised by the low scores
On se vaan hyvä ja maaginen
Gotta be the best Doors album, right? Who doesn’t love Peace Frog.
Ai ich mag den jazzigen Rock?
Great one vinyl worthy
Bello, Intenso, sinuoso
Remember exactly where I was the first time I heard this! 5
Excellent
A good listen, though nothing too standoutish.
Excellent album. Bonus points for keeping it under 40 minutes. When I think of The Doors, LA Woman is the song and album that comes to mind but I might actually like this better. Less creepy and psychedelic but that’s cool. Roadhouse Blues is a good reminder that they can do it all. I really love that Adrian Quesada album, Echo Hotel. I think this album is a clear influence for that project. 5 stars.
Best Song: Roadhouse Blues I have owned this album since 1995 so it is safe to say I had heard it before. And, it is one of the greats from a great band. Roadhouse Blues, Peace Frog, Land Ho, Indian Summer have been in and out of playlists since I made the purchase. 5/5.
The first doors album I owned and of my favourites. Their sound on this is the doors I love and almost every track is gritty and Morrison’s voice is gravelly and great. Hard to believe he’d be dead a year and a half later. Must have been so refreshing to fans to hear them go back to their roots when this was released, especially after enduring soft parade (which I actually don’t hate).
Gg
If homeboy comes through with like THESE... you got some “Roadhouse Blues” out here, you got some “You Make Me Real”, homeboy is gonna like... get it - Bella Hadid Meme reference for the unindoctrinated: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UEzSD3sg6u0
One of my favorite albums of all time.
Uno de mis álbumes favoritos, sin lugar a dudas, puro Roadhouse blues
Yes
Absolutely loved it. Earthy blues rock at its best. There is a strong possibility that I buy this record.
Love the album, feels like I’m a hippie on a summer love
Awesome album, such a bigger sound than what I'm used to with the doors, very groovy
Who knew I was so into blues rock? A slow burn after the first couple of tracks but had me completely hooked by the end. Also love the iconic album cover.
Strong album by the Doors.
Tasty treat
i <3 the doors really though the whole album had a beautiful vibe that was present throughout
This is neither the best nor the worst Doors album. They’ll always be 5-stars for me. One of my favorites.
I got up this morning and I got myself a beer
All the Doors album are pretty good and I'm also surprised how well-beloved the 4th one is. "Morrison Hotel" lets them go in a more bluesy direction with songs that are more upbeat than the dark psychedelic rock albums before. Some might not find that very exciting, but it is definitely a new path from what they did before. "The Spy", "Indian Summer" and "Peace Frog" could be considered as some of the best songs they've ever written. It's just such a great poetic way to juggle the material.
Never gave this album a full listen before, but it’s awesome. I was right to expect it would be great. It’s bluesy, psychedelic, a little bit of r&b, and even jazz. And Morrison’s vocals really tie the room together.
Solid.
Love the doors
In love with that one
Big Doors fan. Great album.
Have never listened to the album in full, but have listened to some of the songs many times in the past. Peace Frog is probably my favorite Doors song and one of my favorite songs from the period in general. The transition into Blue Sunday always is beautiful. As someone who performed Doors songs in the past, I've grown a liking to them despite not listening to them that much. Land Ho is one of those funny songs that I was recommended years ago and would have been fun to play that but never did.
Great album, enjoyed it all the way through. I’ve always been a fan of The Doors and this album reinforces that for me. Favorite track is Waiting for the Sun, with Roadhouse Blues a close second. 5
can't help it, i love it. one of several essential doors albums with the debut and probably strange days and definitely LA woman... jim becomes the growling blues oaf he was always destined to be. i don't care if his lyrics are hack-poetic or whatever. in fact, i don't give a shit what he says. jim makes the doors sound like the doors, and i love the doors. he sounds like a blustering, untrained drunk, and that's what he was. this is where he tips the scales into "BE[ing] [a] drunken buffoon, which MAKES [him] poetic." thanks almost famous, lester bangs, philip seymour hoffman, and the guess who. robby's playing is spidery and agile. manzarek's circus organ often gives way to boogie keys, but is spooky at times, staccato at others. densmore plays the drums, baby. someone even plays bass. the second half has fewer radio hits, but smolders and flares. fell in love with them in high school, burned myself out on them in college, was too cool for them in my 20s (but always knew i had a youthful love back there), and hit a listening renaissance in my 30s, running back through all of it, collecting it, and appreciating them for what they always were: a great LA band and a great american band who sounded like no other.
should have called this album Goofy Blues, cos that's what it is. Doors are a weird mix of traditional blues concepts and, tons of keyboard/organ, and morrisons unusual deliverly. kick ass album. its fun to find new appreciation for this band....realistically first time ive listened closely since i was a teen.
I think this is my favorite Doors album. Just a great listen all the way through.
First band I really got into (a lot of 15 year olds were just like me in this regard) and still dig it. Not my favorite Doors album but Peace Frog and Land Ho! are all timers for me. Not a bad track on the album.
Jim Morrisons vocals are just awful. Lucky he was a sex symbol.
The best one!!!!!!
I know everyone loves The Doors. But honestly, some of their drug-fueled moping is just boring. This album though... this is great! After listening to the complete album, I needed to hear it again despite about 10 more albums in the queue to get caught up on my 1001 Albums project. Awarding this a rare 5.
Classic. Crooning. Crazy. Gotta love it.
The doors is amazing. Good album!
Listened to this albums 3 times. So many great songs. Roadhouse sets the tone
Of course
Not sure if this is the most "essential" of The Doors' recordings, but it is my personal favorite. "Peace Frog" alone is worth the price of admission.
The Doors did white boy blues rock better than anyone. Just iconic songs on here, like “Roadhouse Blues” and “Waiting for the Sun.” “Indian Summer” is a top Doors song for me too. The rest of the album rocks too, even if it’s not all classics. The Doors are divisive. I’m in a split marriage myself: my husband thinks they’re pretentious and Manzarek’s keys unbearably carnival-esque. I love them. Jim’s poetry and delivery are impressive. The songs are great. The keyboard works for me in context. This is one of their stronger albums. Five stars
Although there are no “hit” singles, front to back this is my favorite Doors album. Lyrically, musically fantastic. Peace Frog may the best groove they ever wrote.
The Doors. Always good!
Nearly perfect. I guess you could say this review is open and shut. Like a... case...
One of the great ones!
Stu LOLLL LOLLLL thumposaurus on mothersucker? as for this Doors album.. Peace Frog is my favorite Doors song and I agree w Mike - this album is fantastic. Land HOOOOOO!!!
This is the one Doors album I come back to listen to over and over again. Every track other than the last is flawless. Jim’s vocals have fully matured. His ability to float from crooning to full on rage is mesmerizing. The segue from Peace Frog to dreamy Blue Sunday is beautiful. Robbie’s guitar is sublime and transports you. The Spy, so groovy and jazzy. They are exploring and pushing each other to greatness.
In with a splash on Roadhouse Blues, to then drop into his sexy vocals, off to powerful vocals and an epic piano...etc, etc, etc. This album has all the things in the first three songs alone. And it keeps getting better.
In my library and I love it 5
The Doors are fantastic. No Riders on the Storm here makes me a little sad. Roadhouse Blues is amazing! The bassline is simple but solid and rolls along. Throwing in a bit of harmonica makes for great gap fills. I also enjoy the various piano parts. The different variety of instruments throughout really give them a variety that keeps the album from getting dull.
What a fantastic album. I hadn't listened to it in a few years. I'd forgotten that every track is a winner.
Banger just absolute banger!
Very cool, 9.5/10
A great album, I even enjoy the listening to the 50th anniversary mix which was mixed from the original masters.
Excellent album, is there really a bad album by The Doors though?
This is really great. Classic rock and roll with interesting sounds and lyrics. I really love this album. Saving a bunch of songs.
Great album but one of my least listened to Door's albums. Love J9m Morrison's vocals and that wonderful keyboard sound
5/5. I think this is the best doors album, even with all their other records. I just feel like every song offers something different while still remaining mostly blues-y. It feels creative and new without being too experimental. Morrison sounds great here and he gives off the most energy while taking it down smooth and slow on songs like The Spy. I don't ever skip a song here and can throw this on any time. Great album. Best Song: Roadhouse Blues, Waiting For The Sun, Maggie M'Gill, Peace Frog
Brilliant. One of my favorites when I was a teenager
really liked this one!!
Yes yes yes yes oh yes
The Doors have been in my musical DNA since I first discovered them when I was 19. There are a few songs I like less than others but the sound just does it for me—bluesy psychedelic rock.
Was between a 4 and 5, but options for the 5 for the culture. Jim Morrison is just such a great singer.
First time listening to The Doors. Really good album, I enjoyed all of the tracks equally. I'm sure I'll listen to it again soon (especially while I study)
never particularly cared for the doors before, but maybe I'm just old now.
A fave ffrom back in the day
Overall great. There are some dumb lyrics but damn near every album has some depending on your viewpoint. I’ve never understood the derision for this band. I’ve liked them since I was a kid so maybe I’m just nostalgic for them. Or maybe their combination of rock, psychedelia and blues just works for me.
Неперевершений альбом
Man i like the doors
surprising
Always a favorite
Hope you guys like the piano, because Jim’s rocking it in this. Huge fan whenever it kicks in. Roadhouse Blues is such a strong opening for the album, not sure it ever gets better than that. Some of this is a bit too slow and down for me, but whenever we get a bit of rhythm it’s so lovely. 4 songs added to my playlist, 5 added to the 1001 playlist.
One of the first albums I loved. Bush-era lyrics aside (which in spite of their corniness, I can quote like a priest from a bible) everything from American Idiot to halfway through Homecoming could be the lead single (and almost all of them were singles). The 1.5 songs remaining are by no means bad, just not quite the same level of singable choruses and catchy riffs. This was my intro to Green Day, and while I love some of the earlier albums, this is the one that does the most for me. Perfect mix of nostalgia and being actually good. Everything beyond American Idiot I've bounced right off (¡Tré! anyone?) but that's because I kneel only at the altar of St Jimmy and the Jesus of Suburbia. Final note: noticed a lot of the songs are doubled on Spotify, Holiday/Boulevard of Broken Dreams for example. I hope Green Day are getting a fair share of their Spotify pennies.
I haven't listened to this in decades, its great.
4.5
Clean, loud, psychedelic and bluesy. Classic Doors!
I listened to the album for the first time in France as a teenager. Listening to it takes me back: Hanging out with Frenchies on the beaches of Sète. They would ask me to translate lyrics and I tried my best. I think I said "I have three boats and there is land!" Good memories. I need to try and sing this album next time I have strep and am happily angry to be alive.
Land Ho!
Some albums are whispering to you, some speaks to you. This one roars to me. Album full of great songs and Roadhouse Blues is a killer start. Quuen of the Highway lifts the end part of the album to where this belongs. This album belongs to constellation of five stars.
The Doors are great
Yes, Mr Mojo. Go off.
Really good one!
I'm amazed how Jim Morrison can be rough and wild in one song and gentle and meditative in another. Loved this album and was happy to hear new songs that were unknown to me and find out they all are just as great as the popular ones. Easy 5
Brutal
Never got into The Doors, but maybe I should’ve given them a chance. This was a great album. Low 5
There’s just something about The Doors man, for me it’s just unexplainable. When my dad used to play them on our CD player as a kid I absolutely despised them, found them boring, grating at times. I’ve heard their self-titled album for the first time in its entirety about a year or two ago and fell in love. They have their very own brand of lyrics, their unique sound and one of the best rock vocalists of all time. You just know when something sounds “Doorsy”. This album is excellent from front to back, gets a bit weaker at the start of the B-side, but picks up again with “Queen Of The Highway”. They just do their thing and they do it oh so well. I just imagine that I’m on that trippy shit they had back in the 60s and that I’m just lying on my back in some middle-of-nowhere west American desert as the sun sets. It’s a vibe. I loved this. 4.5/5 Best: Waiting for the Sun, Peace Frog, Blue Sunday, Queen of the Highway Worst: The Spy
I find the Doors fantastic - this album doesn't have the hits or most epic songs (e.g. The End) but it does have the typical Doors sound based on gritty blues with Manzarek's signature organ and of course Jim Morrison's voice and charisma. Great stuff.
bip bap buo bada vup ba bup PEAK
Great

Fantastic album from The Doors. A few of my all time favorite songs on this one.
Easy 5 star rating. Some really great songs throughout the album.
Great eclectic outing by the Doors. They're not everybody's taste but for a band to play this well without a bass player and still sound so good you're in for a treat. 4.5/5
Love these guys but never actually listened to them tho I wanted to, I expect some headphone play and unique sounds unless it's gonna be full of basic ass rock, which I don't really dislike it's just always there iykyk. Because of their popularity I want them to be as good as seen, but also I just don't know atp. The album cover is fitting and it seems nostalgic, colours are definitely the best part. First song, I know this one, so many instruments already and obviously the headphone play, I'd say sonical part is better than the vocal one. I knew this one was good, it's so dancey and kinda folksy with a bit of countryness I think. It's just that good, but I hope the quality of goodness won't slow down as the album progresses. Second song, already headphone play. Goddamn this became good, his voice is good and there's this one good sonical part. I'm amazed how good it sounds, it's giving I Monster in one part. I love the delivery in the best way possible. I usually describe each instrumen, but I rather enjoy this. A little too long, but idc I love long good songs. Third song, oooh this is grooovyy. Voice is of course more rock and rolly the sonical delivery is better than the lyrical one tho, the headphone play is just unbeatable. Such a dancey song, full of energy, I mean it's just that good, but the last song was better. 4th song, quite a good start, aaand continuation too. He's singing on the left, there're two voices I think. At this point I'm gonna add the whole album. He started talking in a melancholic manner. Loved it ofc. This must have a meaning, but it being sonically good already says it all. WAIT THIS JUST TRANSITIONED INTO 5TH SONG, GODDAMN. It happened before too here, but this one was obvious. This is a ballad welll. I love the interaction between the lyrical and sonical parts. I can hear an organ I think on the left. He's lalaling. There's a guitar on the right. It's sad, but lyrically it seems like butterflies in a stomach, mellow but not necessarily sad. 6th song, it's giving Lounge. Now this one's happy sonically, but definitely not by the lyrics. The instrumental break is amazing, kinda short tho. Despite the songs being low-key permanent wave I can hear how different can they be in some parts. 7th song, this one does seem sailory and lyrically connected to the song before, but I'm just guessing. Not gonna talk about how much I enjoy the instruments anymore, it should be obvious by now. Some might say, every band sounded like this at this time, but it's The Doors I mean they have their spark and for me they're not the classic rock that sometimes has an overused sounds iykwim. He screamed. I like the mood of the song not matching the lyrics, I think they don't anyway. I feel like this had more than one song in it, especially by the vibe of the last part. 8th song, I like the mischievousness of this. The piano is the best part. It's almost slow and less full of energy, but it sounds like a villain song honestly I'm vibing. This is better than those happy shmappy ones. The last lyrics are the most devious definitely. One of the best songs here. 9th song, this one's also not upbeat. I looove this one. I'm surprised how good these actually are like. It's getting progressive. Paying attention to every detail is so meditating. I prefer to listen than write atp. 10th song, a cool breezy song. His voice is changed, a little echoey. Love me some Doors' ballads. Less lyrics but the main focus was on the guitar and the beat on the left. 11th song, another rock and rollish one. It's just a little too slow for it. I like the way he sings tho. He says he sings the Blues and now I can see it. This didn't catch with me, it doesn't have enough anything, it's going somewhere, but kinda stops midway. The first part and verse were a good start tho. Honestly I expected much worse, and now rating this with 5 stars fills me with pure joy. I can see how some parts are kinda addictive, but that can only happen after listening to the album for some time, the first time is always an introduction and tbh I don't like that, but also love that my brain can identify different things in different listens. I bet there are more albums from this one and I cannot waitt.
Front to back great
4.75 because even though I wore out this album back in high school, Land Ho is unforgivably stupid.
One of my all time favorite albums
Swaggering Weimar white blues
Great album. Thought it was weird that this album was there instead of one of their earlier ones, or an album that had a super famous hit they had. But still a banger of an album.
Rock and roll paranoia, with a blues backbone. This is Jim and company at the height of their power. It reflects what I imagine as the national mood in 1970--the end of peace and love, a hangover as war and violence and unrest are on the rise. Krieger's guitar lashes, Morrison bellows, and Manzarek trills the absurdity of it all. Blood in the streets, indeed.
Реально круто альбом, один из лучших у Doors
I love The Doors! One of the best albums ever. I worship to Jim Morrison and “Blue Sunday”
This my most favourite Doors record. It contains so many songs I fell in love with while hearing them for the first time. Still in love with them.
Obra maestra absoluta de principio a fin. 37 minutos de puro rock. Música, letras, todo es de 5 estrellas.
We go from Roadhouse Blues to Waiting for the Sun with its heavy riff and pretty melodies, to You Make Me Real with ragtime-esque piano. Peace Frog has a funky little bassline and organ. Incredible variety. The quiet Blue Sunday and almost jazzy sounding Ship of Fools round out the side. I had to listen to side two again for it to click. Lots of good organ and interesting progressions. The Spy is a standout, slow and sultry. I like Queen of the Highway a lot too. The acoustic Indian Summer sounds like it could be the last song, but Maggie M'Gill brings back the blues for the closer. Top stuff.
wow. this was a really good album, enjoyed it a lot. vibed. wanna listen to more doors. i like roadhouse blues and blue sunday. super good.
Großartiges, abwechslungsreiches Album mit interessanten Ideen. Volle Punktzahl!
Wow = never heard the whole album until today, and what a gem. Besides the hits and seminal classics (Roadhouse Blues) there are some great tunes - - "Indian Summer" stands out as my new fumed diamond in the rough
The Doors are a serious contender for my favorite band of all time, so this was an easy 5* for me. Their sound is so incredibly unique, I absolutely love listening to the different instruments they use, and Jim's voice is incredible. The keys, the organ, the guitar... so good! I listened to them a lot when I was younger as well (early 00's) so there is a nostalgia factor there for me as well.
Really love the blend of blues and psychedelic rock. This is right up my alley.
10
Classic, love a lot of these songs.
Didnt have any issues with this album, its all good material, dunno what else to say
I am just a sucker for some good ol' blues, and this definitely gets that itch scratched. Very solid 5, would listen again.
I’m up to a 5. I just really liked it – there’s a solid variety of styles here, from the opening track, traditional blues rock that sounds like it would play in a bar full of motorcycle gang members, to some funkier stuff (HUGE fan of Peace Frog), and even some nice calmer tracks like Indian Summer. Ultimately, this album never really punches up above its weight for 1970, but even if it’s not setting the world on fire by innovating and introducing new stuff, it does everything pretty close to perfectly. This is just a really strong album. This is my first Doors album – I get the suspicion there’s gonna be worse ones along the way, but for now, I’ll ride this high. Jim Morrison’s voice has a pretty good tone to it, and I like how easily it can switch on a dime from really melodic to kinda scratchy – his vocals always meet the moment they call for, and it keeps this album from ever going too far off the rails. Really strong mixing and production here, by the way. I feel weird giving Blur a 4 and this a 5, but I just thought this never let off the gas. It feels really cohesive, and it’s just a super enjoyable listen. Very deserving to be on the list.
A classic. Morrison Hotel ist just amazing to listen to. A wonderful listening experience and a back to the roots for the Doors.
Great abum
A return to form by The Doors. Some great songs on here. Glad they finally started using a bass guitar.
I've been sleeping on The Doors all this time. Shame on me. This is so good. I guess I've only ever heard the same clichéd classic rock songs so many times I assumed The Doors were just fine and it was all more or less the same. Oh Contraire. There aren't any real big hits on the album, but every track is distinct and interesting. By the end of side one, I knew I had messed up not diving into The Doors and mistaking them for another decently solid band with a cult following Morrison's death. By the time I was through "Land Ho!," I was seeing new stars in the sky and vowing to change my ways while making this a regular listen. But the time "Maggie McGill" took us home, my vinyl copy was on its way. Brilliant work.
Love this album
Already heard it and love it!
Quintessential rock.
Okay!
Awesome album with some great tracks. Love Roadhouse Blues and Peace Frog, amongst others. Owned this in highshcool and continue to love it. Glad this one popped up today.
My first full Door album. I was already a fan of the hits, but they did not disappoint with this.
This album was unbelievable. Honestly, I don't think there were any bad songs on this project.
5 sterren alleen al voor Roadhouse Blues
I kind of forgot how much I like this record. Or maybe I never knew because I never listened to it as a whole. Damn, it’s pretty great. Weird and musical and Morrison’s vocals are great.
Hmm, The Doors but with Blues? Sign me up. I really really liked this album. Probably a 4.5 for me, but, hell, I'll round up.
A very mature and soulful sound, borderline vulnerable and heartfelt at times. Catchy and suave, each song has something unique to bring to an album that is bursting with bluesy energy, and tender ballads. Very well-rounded and engaging. Top tracks: Roadhouse Blues, Peace Frog, Blue Sunday
Morrison Hotel has frequently risen to the top of my list of favorite Doors albums, even though choosing a definitive favorite among their catalog is always a challenge. This album stands out for its bluesier edge, yet it remains quintessentially Doors with its eclectic mix of styles. It might be difficult to determine which album features their best songs, but sonically, Morrison Hotel is undeniably their most polished and impressive work. The performances are robust, and the recording and mixing are top-notch. The band's dynamic range is on full display, with seamless transitions that showcase their stylistic versatility. Tracks like "Waiting for the Sun," "Ship of Fools," and "Queen of the Highway" flirt with progressive rock elements, incorporating intricate changes that highlight their musical complexity. Particularly striking is the smooth segue from "Peace Frog" to "Blue Sunday," which never fails to surprise me. "Indian Summer" exemplifies the Doors' ability to craft meditative, psychedelic tracks that feel otherworldly. Overall, Morrison Hotel is a testament to the band's enduring creativity and skill, presenting a blend of blues, rock, and psychedelia that resonates deeply.
Treat yo'self to some cheap thrills at Morrison Hotel, from $2.50 and up! By now The Doors are in full bloom, and the conviction with which Mr. Mojo Risin' himself sang his lyrics on the first album has long had the consistent quality to back up his hubris. It strikes me funny that some of the qualities I chastise on some albums are the hallmarks of other albums when in the right hands. For instance, the languid lost-in-the-desert head-full-of-peyote feel of "Indian Summer" hits the right droning meditation alongside the best of Velvet Underground that with other groups would just be boring and uninspired. The first side is easily the more popular, and "Peace Frog" has the best guitar solo I've heard from Robby Krieger to date. But the second side shouldn't be dismissed; the fun "Land Ho!" and swanky "The Spy" perfectly set the expectations and the band simply delivers perfectly.
So I was pretty much unfamiliar with this album, having gained only a small awareness of it just about an hour before seeing it as our album of the day on this list, but I really enjoyed listening to it! I was familiar with the song Roadhouse Blues, but unlike a lot of albums where the song I already know is the one I end up liking the best, a lot of songs here really grabbed me more than that one ever has. There was a lot of blues on this album in addition to that song, but there was so much else going on, it's like the band was following whatever creative whim they had to see where it took them. I feel like compared to their debut, this album shows that they had really expanded their sound. But it wasn't a mess or a mishmash. There was a consistent thread throughout, and though there were lots of forays in many directions, and at times more energy, everything worked really well. I keep coming back to Peace Frog. I love the energy of it and it makes me want to go-go dance like Goldie Hawn. But then that droning, moody, Jim vocal is there in parts, too. Blue Sunday, Ship of Fools and Indian Summer also stood out to me. The focus is always on Jim when it comes to the Doors--the man, the myth, the legend--but I don't think the rest of the guys in the band get enough credit for their creativity and virtuosity.
Tough to go wrong with the Doors. Another easy 5 for me. As a 14 year old in 1995 I had all their albums and wore them out. I feel like this album features John Densmore a bit more and shows his jazz drumming influence. 'Waiting For the Sun', 'Blue Sunday', and "Indian Summer'.... masterpieces. 'Queen of the Highway' is also a standout. I feel like they maintained their identity while still drifting through multiple styles of music.
USKOMATON THE DOORS ALBUMI.. biisejö ei toki nouse hittilistoille.. MUTTA TARVIIKO.. heh.. ei..
This record was on major rotation in our shared living space when I was in college in the late 1980s. It would get played a lot later on in the evening when things were starting to get going... maybe around 11:30 PM, or midnight, when everything needed a little injection of weird energy. Worked perfectly!
My kinda jam
Very nice album. I like The Doors. Jim Morrison is genius.
I of course love the doors, and this is one of the best.
This is one of my absolute favorite albums of all times. The memories of Athena and me jamming out to aby number of Spors tracks but this album especially will always be a bright spot. I hear this album and I think of my best friend. 5 stars every day all day. Love The Doors.
Was wondering when the Doors would show up…can’t overrate this band. A singular voice that is deeply missed. Another club 27 member.
Love, love this album
4.5/5 This funky unique experience is a delight. Jim Morrison screams and reminisces over groovy tracks oozing with flavour. The lyrics evoke strong sexual desires or inspire beautiful psychedelic images, such as the fantastic Peace Frog, which fades amazingly into the elegant change of pace of Blue Sunday. A slightly weaker stretch following the brilliant Ship of Fools weakens the overall quality of the album but the highpoints are so high this is a must-listen. Maggie M'Gill brings the album back to what it does best right at the end. Roadhouse Blues 4.5/5 Waiting for the Sun 5/5 You Make Me Real 5/5 Peace Frog 5/5 Blue Sunday 5/5 Ship of Fools 5/5 (FAV) Land Ho! 4/5 The Spy 3.5/5 (LEAST FAV) Queen of the Highway 4/5 Indian Summer 4/5 Maggie M'Gill 5/5
I love this album. Might be my favorite Doors album although I know others get more critical acclaim.
It’s The Doors. Enough said. I’ve never actually listened to this album all the way through before but it did not disappoint.
Ok wow, The Doors were more ahead of their time than I previously have given them credit for. I always thought that they were just another generic rock band from the 60s and 70s, but this is simply fantastic.
Very good!
Wonderful
👍10/10
I loved the first Doors Album. It was raw and new. I loved Morrison Hotel more because it was the Doors when their art was honed to perfection. There is a song for every mood. Waiting for the Sun is a psychedelic ride while Land Ho! Was a funky exploration of uptempo oddity and Roadhouse Blues was a down and dirty classic rocker. One of my favorites is the soft romance Indian Summer. There is beauty in there, despite the fact it’s comparing his love to multiple women. Hmmm. I love the story about the cover too, that the owner refused so when he wasn’t paying attention then ran inane got the shot before being chased out. Classic twenty year old rock band mayhem!
Love the sound of this album. Easy 5 stars for me. Such a cool voice.
Some of my favorites on one of their best albums. 4.5*, but I have to round up for this one.
This album is a ride. Well, for the times I guess it’s a trip. Drops of blues, flamenco, rock and love songs to boot. I did often find myself wondering “what does that mean” when listening to songs but I guess that is the poetic side of the doors that you hear about. This album would do nothing but make me want to explore more. Choice Cut: Maggie McGill
Just amazing can't add much else
So fun! Classic.
Very good listen. Jim Morrison had such a distinctive soft but strong voice that belied his age and has now become immortalised. The Doors music was not just a product of their time. It's still a pleasure to listen to today which makes this band a classic. Brilliant 👍
Wow. I've always struggled to enjoy The Doors, but this album really rocks and helped me understand the vibe. I really liked this, maybe because it's a little more traditional rock, but Jim Morrison's vocal style really shines through here.
Right about here, Jim & Co. hit a relentless blues groove which doesn’t let up for eighteen months until it is all over, and which represents some of the finest, and the funnest, that American rock has to offer. It’s so good that it rises above being the cliché that it can’t help avoid being. The pleasant surprise here is how lovely, how non-throw-away, the slower tracks are.
Jim Morrison's voice is unmistakable. As are the rhythm and the sound of the band. A great album that I wasn't that familiar with. I will certainly listen to it again. 5/5
The Doors ist und bleibt eines meiner Favoriten. Die Stimme von Jim Morrison ist einfach besonders.
If ya like some Blues this is probably for you. So many good tracks on this album, probably the best The Doors have to offer.
A classic
YES! nice. 5
This late-stage 70s blues rock is my bread and butter.
Don't even need to listen to this one to rate it
Style and talent. This album rocks
Outstanding!!
9/10. I think it had all the elements for a great album. Instrumentally great. Pace changes throughout. Loved it.
Great album, not more, not less.
Classic!!!
DOPE!!! I e been waiting for the Doors like track 2
The Doors... what to say about the Doors? They are groovy. They are swingy. They are shaky. And they are strange. People are strange. I bet the Doors would've been an awesome band to jam with. I don't even like the blues but damnit I like it when they do it. Jim Morrison gets all the fame but his band is riffing out some incredible stuff! Roadhouse is awesome and timeless. Waiting for the Sun makes me wanna do acid and stay up all night and have an experience as epic and twangy as this sweeping song of static electricity and sunlight. You Make Me Real shakes it up like an old time rock and boppa-loo-bop. Jerry Lee Lewis, eat your heart out. Love that one. Peace Frog. Yes. I dig this boogie. Blood to our elbows, Jim. Don't even start about Chicago. Ribbit. Blue Sunday - nope. Gong. If I was a 1970's C list actor who was guest judging on the Gong Show and the Doors were playing this song, I would fucking gong them. Ship of Fools - boogie on the high seas in the key of D (for Doors). Land Ho! - It's a journey inside a diddy. And you can dance to it. Here's what I love about the song writing here... Jim has one phrasing to the diddy on the first part.. then there's the middle part where the wind blows and several men possibly die... then they spot land (or maybe a ho) and he changes up the phrasing and melody of the lyrics but the diddy is the same. I hope he lands and marries that ho. The rest of the album is pretty good in a weird and wonderful way. I especially liked Maggie M'Gill. "Well, I'm an old blues man and I think that you understand I've been singing the blues ever since the world began, yeah"
Is it Rock? Is it Blues? Is it some kind of New Age Folk? Does it matter? The voice sucks you in while the instrumentals surround you.
Morrison Hotel, the penultimate Doors album (before the departure/demise of Jim Morrison). Between January 1967 and April 1971, The Doors released 6 studio albums, and a double live album. In the true spirit of “better to burn out than to fade away”, they pretty much imploded by 1971, culminating in the mysterious death of lead singer Morrison while he was appealing an indecency conviction. During the Doors’ original run of popularity, I wasn’t even a teenager, so I only knew the hits. And the songs that played on FM radio through the 70’s. Which is a great set of songs. From Morrison Hotel, that included “Roadhouse Blues”, Waiting For the Sun” and “Peace Frog”…. All very solid songs. Then, in the fall of 1980, on the heels of the movie Apocalypse Now, they released a Greatest Hits collection that made a major splash (top 20 on the US charts) and started a Doors revival. I was in college at the time, and it seemed the Doors were everywhere. My roommate even headed up a Doors cover band, and pretty soon I knew all their music… In other words, this album is quite familiar to me. And it is very representative of the band. Great songs, very keyboard driven, featuring Morrison’s distinctive vocal style (and lyrics). This is one of the four Doors albums I own, and it’s a 3 way tie for second place behind their debut. Solid 4.5, I’ll round to 5 because I really enjoyed today’s listen. 5/5
B-side slumps a bit, but i’m feeling generous today
Listen before. Greg’s album
Потрясающе. Понравилось.
It’s got all the ups and downs and it makes me wanna move 11/5 best album so far ??
Brilliant execution and a truly classic sound. It makes use of every part of the medium, seemingly without trying. Grips you from the first moment of the first song while not overwhelming you or demanding all of your attention.
This has always been one of my favorite albums. The song Roadhouse Blues has to be the best ever song to drink a beer. Besides that songs like, "Waiting for the Sun", "Peace Frog", "Ship of Fools", and "Spy" are sleeper hits that don't get the radio play but are among the best the Doors have to offer. Actually, there was a boxed set of the Doors Music years and years ago that listed all of the band members favorite Doors songs. Many of those songs that each member picked show up on this album unsurprisingly.
Excellent!
Its the first time i see an Doors album here, and i hope not the last, Morisson Hotel is one of the last Doors album that i discover and i absolutly love it. Its a more bluesy album than the others, with touch of RNB and the psychedelic rock that make them legend. Unfortunatly we start to hear the effet of years of alcool abuse on Jim's voice, even tho he still have a wonderfull voice, its more hoarse but i guess it fit their blues sound. The iconic cover was taken when they discover an hotel name Morrison and they find it funny, the tittle of the album completly came from that and its cool. This album is often view as a comeback altheway from Stranges days, especially criticaly, and its also view as on of their best at all, not sure to agree for me its clearly in the top 3. On the vinyl the two side are name Hard Rock Café and the other is name Morrison Hotel, the first have some blues rock songs like roadhouse blues, you make me real or Peace frog. The other as more slower song and a bit more RnB like Land Ho, indian summer or The Spy. The best song for me are the following: Accualy i'm not sure wich one i like the best there so many good songs not as famous as Peace Frog or Roadhouse blues but i will try Indian Summer: One of the most beautifull poem Jim ever written a soft, slow music sing beautifully by Morrison simply magnificent i'm really moved by this song. The song is also onw of the oldest they have written and reccorded but they only release it in 1970 on this album. Waiting for the Sun: The tittle track... of the previous album, in this album there is not epic song like in previous reccord, but this one is probably the closer. The Spy: Another strange love song about a possesif lover who spy the one he love, the spiritual father of every breath you take, but very passionate i like it. Peace frog: Another protest song, with Jim's lyrical genius he transport us in the boilling late 60's time with reference of one of his previous incarceration in New Heaven and one of his most traumatic events in his lifetime, when he saw dead indeginous after a car crash when he wass a child. Land Ho: I always feel it kinda detains from the rest of thoses songs, Land Ho is was the sailors would say they spot a land to coast and find it very entertaining with an happy vibe wich is not that frequent with the Doors Roadhouse Blues: The lead single and of of the most recognisable Doors Song with an iconic guitar riff and as always the jazzy drums of John densomore and the magic of Ray Organ the magic really happen on this song in particullar but mostly all the songs. Blue Sunday: I discover and strated to liek this track later than most of the album but a wonderfull poem by Jim simply Beautifull. Ship Of Fools: Another purely blues song, with still the Doors special touch, simply a cool song. You make me Real: You cannot go more blues than this song again just a cool song nothing so special but i like it. Queen of the highway: It was written for his longtime girlfriend Pamela Courson, i don't like it as much as the others Maggie M'Gill: This song never printed on me, like again i don't like it as much. So to conclude on this album, its not what you expect of the Doors if you know tjeir biggest hits, but its them we recognize them for sur, its a great album with decent and wonderfull songs. In the context (Morrison trial, his alcool consumtion and the bands cohension in decline) its very forgivable when you see the result. Again i just love the Doors in general and this album is one of my favorite of all times.
Big fan of the doors, always an enjoyable listen
I grew up on a diet of The Doors owing to my father's penchant. Morrison Hotel is quite a lot more towards the bluesy end of their work, with a couple of touches of psychedelia. I don't recall hearing as much of this album as for instance LA Woman, Strange Days or the eponymous album, but it's still good.
Absolute banger of an album. I don’t really enjoy the doors as people but I love their sound even if it isn’t the most complex.
5/5
Peace Frog is the best The Doors song. It's science.
I am not a huge Doirs fan, but definitely enjoy and appreciate the band’s music. This is a great album, with lots of blues influences but not limited to the blues. Peace Frog is awesome and Roadhouse Blues is iconic Doors.
A real gutty roadhouse journey of gritty LA blues... from the psychological mind of Late 60's America.
Always a great album.
As a Doors fan, I've been sleeping on this album. Great listen.
No skips, enjoyed till the end.
My Jam
The Doors reaching their peak. Production is tight and heavy, with side A in particular kicking off with the meaty "Roadhouse Blues" and twangy attacks of "Waiting for the Sun." Everything sounds clean, and importantly, talented studio bassists fill an essential hole present in some early Doors material. A record that speeds by under 40 minutes and wastes no time on its concise cuts.
Thoughts before listening: I have always considered this to be the quintessential Doors album, and I really like their self-titled debut and LA Woman quite a bit as well. As a whole I enjoy the Doors and consider them one of the better 60s bands. A lot of modern music fans like to dismiss their impact largely due to Jim Morrison's antics, but their music is awesome and has been a major influence on a lot of the punk and indie bands I love. Review: Confirmed that this is my favorite of the Doors' albums with "Peace Frog" probably my favorite song. Other strong tracks include "Roadhouse Blues", "Waiting for the Sun", "Blue Sunday", "You Make Me Real", and "Maggie M'Gill". This is the band's most focused blues rock album and I think thats why I like it so much. Just straightforward rock songs some of which have gone on to be classic rock radio staples. 5-stars.
Classic Doors. Loved it all!
Okee Dokee... I am aware of the Doors. I don't live under a rock or somehow missed the memo. (I saw the film). Plus, I am "old enough" to have heard the Doors on the radio back iin the day. For some reason over the last few decades they have not gotten a heck of a lot of airplay, and I am really not into "oldies" stations. Listening "fresh" to this album is a real mind blower. This album is over 50 years old. And it is, as it was, amazing! This is a "must listen" in my not always humble opinion.
Album marcante, músicas deliciosas, destancando-se Roadhouse Blues e You make me real.
I hated the Doors for a minute. When the movie came out in the 90's everyone was playing the Doors for a bout a year. It took me forever to come back around on them but I'm glad I did. The music reminds me of of an LA that's not shiny and clean but dark and sleazy full of back alleys and broken dreams. My personal favs from this record are waiting for the sun and Indian summer. Waiting for the Sun has that languid floating in a pool looking down at the city quality. Like I've been at a party all night, done too much coke, and need to float in the pool with a giant daiquiri while the sun reflects off my sunglasses. Indian Summer is a sweet love song with the Doors vibe in full place.
Honestly one of my favorite albums of all time. The Doors just did not miss ever
Excellent album from the Doors -- not their best perhaps but full of the thought-provoking lyrics and rollicking sound that made them famous. Roadhouse Blues and Peace Frog are the best known songs on this album, but Maggie McGill, The Spy and Ship of Fools are gems as well. I listened to a lot of the Doors growing up but they had fallen off my radar a bit. Time to get them back into the rotation.
A classic. One of their best. Morrison's lyrical creativity and the his band'c musical sounds are awesome. Ran Kanzarek on keyboards was unique and Robby Kreiger on lead guitar did some excellent solo work.
Great classic album! Roadhouse blues sets the pace for a great diverse showcase of Doors music. Morrison is greatly missed!!
Know it already.
It’s the DOORS, of course it gets 5 stars. Jim Morrison is the lizard king, he can do anything!
Awesome...classic Doors!!
.
Great Album, Milestone
Atmospheric afternoon listening, scent of dust and old hair oil with men still preferring to talk about cars, carpentry and concrete than anything else. A time that has passed. I'd not heard of these pieces. Its not the Doors that I was given to discover. It's a good album. Message is nothing particularly resonant that I could tell but its good capture of a time and place and people. 3 stars meaning I'd listen again but not necessarily seek it out. (ADDENDUM - I've been seeking it out ... how awesome is that!)
Most albums by The Doors are worth a listen and this one a little more so. Can’t say I care much for Land Ho! But beyond that it’s track after track of greatness with Peace Frog/Blue Sunday being the highlight.
Blues-rock de The Doors. Vinilo.
Solid album from the Doors
I know it's en Vogue to shit on the doors but I couldn't :(
