Ah, the elusive 3.75/5 rating – the "I'd swipe right but wouldn't take home to meet the parents" of album scores. It's the musical equivalent of a solid B-minus, where the tunes are catchy enough to hum in the shower but not quite anthem-worthy for a road trip. It's like a culinary dish that's one spice away from perfection; you can't help but go back for another taste, hoping it'll hit that 4/5 sweet spot on the second listen. Keep those headphones close; you never know when the urge to bump it up to a 4 will strike!

Rough but a good listen
Quintessential Norah Jones. Overall great tunes, although some are not that special. Highlights: Turn Me On, Don't Know Why, Come Away With Me
The album seamlessly navigates a diverse soundscape, experimenting with unexpected textures and tempos, yet retains a remarkably cohesive heartbeat throughout. The band's willingness to push boundaries shines, hinting that this could be their most accomplished work. Moments of soaring, majestic melody collide with more intimate, introspective passages, offering a listening experience that feels both fresh and timeless.
Boy did they struggle with love back in the day. At least they were upbeat about it. Happy music, depressing lyrics.
This album feels like a warm, familiar embrace. It's a classic through and through, instantly recognizable as a product of its era yet possessing a timeless appeal. The music is undeniably engaging, drawing you in with its rhythms and heartfelt melodies. Every track exudes a joy and vitality that represents the best of its time. Sure, there might be more technically impressive or groundbreaking albums out there, but few match the sheer, unadulterated enjoyment this one still provides.
Nothing to see here, your time is better spent elsewhere, move on. Unmemorable, except maybe Fuck Me Pumps. There are hundreds of albums like this out there that no one talks about, why this one made the list beats me. Guess my mama was wrong after all, getting wasted in public does pay off!
Brothers and sisters, let me tell you something... They had a lot of fun in that Detroit ballroom and it shows
Half a star for the diversity it represents. Another half a star because it's aptly named. It's the best I can do.
Enjoyable through and through, great energy and consistently good songs. Fun!
An album that starts energetically and ends on a soulful note, with a magnificent centerpiece. “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” is a true gem that elevates the entire album and makes it a must-listen. So, give it a listen!
An unmistakable voice makes for an unmistakable album. It's as Suede as it goes, but that might not be everyone's cup of tea. I feel it's a solid album, definitely worth a listen, but not up there with the great ones.
Feels like an evolution of The Knife and sets the stage for Fever Ray's future craziness. It's weird, it's bold, it's interesting. It's worth a listen
This album feels instantly familiar, like slipping into a comfortable pair of shoes. It's that quintessential "elevator jazz" – the kind everyone instantly recognizes, the kind that's impossible to dislike. There's a reason these sounds are so enduring - It's undeniably smooth, catchy, and expertly played. While it might not seem ground-breaking, it's a chill and timeless representation of its genre.
I would have been a roadie...
Nothing special
What a wild album, full of bangers. Enjoyable end to end. I love it!
Great voice, amazing music. 5/5 would listen again! Recommend!
It's folk...What's there to like?
An album that brings memories. I still like it, but now it seems it's not as solid as I used to think
I'm unimpressed
Good flow, but the songs feel a little repetitive and the album gets monotonous.
Yeehaw!
When I came across this in the morning, I was unfamiliar with the band. Having listened to the album, I now understand why their music had never caught my attention before. It's not that good
I'd listen to this album anytime. Amazing voice that carries you gently through the soulful melodies coupled with an empowering message. Great!
This is a very fun, enjoyable album

very good album showcasing Madonna's ability to stay relevant and unique.
Juvenile. Lovely. Fun!

Masterpiece
surprisingly lovely album with many good songs overshadowed by the massive hit that American Pie still is.
3.5/5: A Promising but Disjointed Effort from the Purple One Prince's latest offering in the list had all the makings of a masterpiece, but ultimately falls short of its lofty expectations. The album's standout track, "Sign O' the Times", is an undeniable banger that showcases the artist's signature blend of funk, rock, and R&B. However, the rest of the album struggles to live up to the standard set by this exceptional cut. While individual tracks exhibit flashes of brilliance, the album as a whole feels disjointed and lacking in cohesion. It's as if Prince's eclectic style, which has always been a hallmark of his genius, has given way to a scattershot approach that prevents the album from truly gelling. Despite its inconsistencies, the album still boasts moments of brilliance, and die-hard Prince fans will undoubtedly find plenty to appreciate. However, for those expecting a cohesive, start-to-finish masterpiece, this album may come as a slight disappointment.
this was a lovely surprise
impeccable
kind of struggling to understand why this is on the list. maybe they wanted a bland album represented too?
I did not listen to Nick Drake before. I will listen to him going forward.
Meh
Solid
The only surprising aspect of this album is seeing that some people didn't rate it a 5. While I can understand giving it a 4, the 1-star ratings are baffling. How much of a hater can you to be?

Ah, the elusive 3.75/5 rating – the "I'd swipe right but wouldn't take home to meet the parents" of album scores. Marquee Moon, the album's shining star, swooped in like a superhero in a vinyl cape to save the day! It's like the gourmet truffle in a bag of chips, unexpectedly elevating the whole snacking experience. And let's be honest, in the grand punk rock concert of life, who wouldn't want a performance that's more 'encore' than 'oh no'? With its standout tracks, Marquee Moon turns an average listening party into a rock odyssey worthy of a solid three out of five stars! Rock on! 🎸
