Reviews (page 14 of 14)
I'm not a huge fan of classic hard rock, so that influences my rating of this album. I'll give the genre some time to work on me. That being said, I thought it was insightful to the band. I only have a surface level knowledge of the band, and really have only heard their greatest hits. I always thought their codas had a hard blues echo to them, but listening to this album made it clear to me how they think about the genre. Like anyone else, I like "Immigrant Song", because it's hard and goes aaaaaaaaa, but my favorite track to listen to was "Since I've Been Loving You". It was straight up blues, and I thought sounded great how aggressive the band were, and Plant's shrill sounded desperate compared to the desensitized vibes I get from most blues artist, even those I like. Maybe "Friends" wasn't a bad song—there are plenty songs that I enjoyed a lot more after a first impression—but on my first play through, I did not like listening to this song very much. I could hear "Kashmir" being dreamed up within it, but Friends sucked so that Kashmir could slap.
There's a lot to like here, I just can't bring myself to care, I've never been able to get into Led Zeppelin, despite how much people worship them.
I’ve just got to accept that of all Led Zep’s output I’m only ever going to really enjoy Kashmir. Sorry.
Apart from Immigrant Song, I don’t know this one. Gloomy and didn’t really grab me although I feel disloyal saying this. Whats going on in the weird last track? Listen to again (not sure I really will tbh) - Friends
so so not really into it
Rock on you Led Zeppelin
Musically it was fine, singing was terrible. Falsetto is gross. A whole album is insufferable.
There are other, better Zeppelin albums.
Not feeling it.
Not a Zeppelin fan and this didn't change my mind.
Didn’t realize what immigrant song was; heard it so much in movies but finally put it together. It does go ape tbh. It’s a good classic rock album. I’m not a fan of classic rock. Like its quality as a whole piece. It’s like I’m half into it, half not
Not for me
2.5 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
This is tough to rate. To me it's "lesser Zeppelin" but lesser Zeppelin is still very good. I'm just rating it low-ish because of the real state this occupies in a list with such a limited space. There at least 4, maybe 5 LZ albums I'd rate higher for the list.
Round two. Great. Wait, it's a completely different sound. While certainly more listenable, still bored me with the last two songs
Liked track 1. Tried twice but this album didn't sustain my attention. Felt like it's juts noodling and noisy. And I like led Zeppelin, or so I thought.
Meh.
One or two good songs but had heard the album before and was never really into it. It’s fine.
Not a fan of Zeppelin, but this was tolerable.
I enjoy some songs from the Zepp but overall the album seemed like one big bluesy-rock song. Wish it switched up a bit more but wasn’t too bad.
Hercules performed many feats, this album was one of them. Of course it was cool to find out that the immigrant song track is from here, but I don't like both it and the rest of the album. I've never understood Led Zeppelin fans, if God created music, why do they listen to production projects?
Some good tunes, not a particularly good listening experience.
Was a little surprised to realize that this album was actually kind of annoying to me? I just didn’t enjoy it at all after Immigrant Song. I’ve never loved Robert Plant’s vocals but somehow even less tolerable on this album. Idk man
2.5/5
Like a ton of stuff from this era - when they nailed it, they produced some of the best stuff ever. But there's so much guff in this.
Boring
My Mum used to have this record. I remember because I used to like playing with the moving sleeve when I was a kid, not because it ever got played. Apparently it was a not particularly welcome birthday present from my Uncle back in the 1971. It ended up at the tip along with the rest of my parents' vinyl. Had it been played, I probably would have had the same opinion as my Mum and much preferred rocking on my rocking horse to the Monkees, the Beach Boys and Leo Sayer. It's more down my alley now than when I was 5, but I still think Led Zep are vastly overrated. This album in particular did not click with me. Rating: 2/5 Playlist track: Immigrant Song Date listened: 23/01/23
They are obviously really talented. For me too much is happening at the same time.

OK
Not a Led Zeppelin fan, although I liked since I’ve been loving you
2.5
This is one of those albums I know really well even though I never intentionally listen to it. I must admit, I just don't get why this is so beloved. I don't hate it but I find it a bit of a sleeper.
Immigrant Song was good. The rest of this reeks of stealing from black musicians. With some cool riffs, I will admit. But yeah. Won't be revisiting most likely.
This is an inferior led Zeppelin album. In my mind it doesn't come anywhere close to I, II, or IV. I don't know how many led Zeppelin albums are going to be on this list, but it surprises me that this one is.
I do not like Led Zeppelin.
I approach Led Zep with dread. I feel like they're a band that I should know inside out. Album after album of classic recordings, all part of our shared history. But I'm always too scared, not knowing where to start and what I might find. The band have been elevated to God like status. Gawd knows why. This just droned on and on. It picked up a little around the more folky moments. But it wasn't for me. Oh well. That's one more band not to waste my time over.
Not a big Zep fan. II was better
Meh
very meh
Beetje vage rockmuziek. **
I really love their debut album but I did not enjoy listening to this album… there were a few redeeming moments but mostly I hated listening lol
Int jätte intressant, flowar lite dåligt imo
I prefer the heavier Led Zeppelin Highlight Tracks: 1, 3, 5, 9
Estujo bien...
So I've actually never really cared for Led Zeppelin. I feel like they're in my wheelhouse but it originates from being an edgy teenager that didn't want to like popular bands. So when I was assigned this one I was excited to finally have an excuse to experience them for myself. I went in with an open mind and... I just don't get it. The album was really boring. I can hear the technical guitar playing if I really listen. The subject matter is interesting I guess. But I was just bored the whole time. It leads me to think there's there's something wrong with me.
Kicking off with the immigrant song.... the signature sound that everyone knows is as good as ever. And .... the rest of the album is crap in my opinion. Sorry not my type of music.
Not their best. Not their fifth best.
There are some songs that I quite enjoy - e.g. Since I've Been Loving You and Gallow's Pole. Just for fun I dug up Lead Belly's version of this song, aka Gallis Pole, (circa 1940) and I kept listening to Lead Belly; it was more enjoyable than listening to Led Zep III! Lead Belly also did Black Betty. Apologies if you were hoping never to think about Ram Jam again. OK, Time to reign in my ADHD. I like when virtuoso electric guitar players display their acoustic abilities. e.g. one of the reasons Tommy is such an excellent LP is Townshend's acoustic playing on Side 1. (I'm getting initial drafts ready for when the algorithm starts sending Who LPs!) Page's acoustic work isn't as consistent as it is on other albums such as Physical Graffiti although it's ass-kicking on Bron - Y- Aur Stomp. (Isn't that song name also on Phys Gr?) The acoustic slide work on Roy Harper is also impressive although the song doesn't really work. Whatever technology game they were playing with Plant's voice hasn't aged well - or perhaps wasn't good to start off with. I never really liked Immigrant Song. It's nice to listen to a Zeppelin LP that isn't overplayed but I don't like the hit, don't like the other rockers and only half like the acoustic / blues songs.
No es lo mío, no
i'd only heard immigrant song, so i thought the rest of the album would be more or less the same, i was kinda pleasantly surprised by the variety but it's still not rly my sort of music
Eh
More warbelling about babies from the Plantmeister. Not nearly as many on this one, but I'm sick to death of Led Zeppelin coming up on here. Three times already. At least that means only one to go.
Rocky
Not my cup of tea
It feels wrong to rate Led Zeppelin so low. Immigrant song and Friends are fantastic, but I notice that no matter how hard I try, I can't get engaged in the rest of the album. I listened to it twice, but it just doesn't hit me. :(
meh
Most of it is not really my thing. The high pitch singing from Robert Plant gets annoying to me after a while. However, tangerine is an exception, love that song. And Imigrant Song as the opener is also great (or maybe I'm just not yet tired at that point).
I know it’s quality and all that, I just don’t enjoy listening to it.
There's only one good song (Since I've Been Loving You). The rest is poor. I still don't understand why Led Zeppelin are rated as highly as they are.
Boring
Im so sorry I couldn't finish this
Nope, not for me
A bit if a snore fest apart from immigrant song
Niet voor mij.
Pas du tout aimé
Nope! Next...
MEH
Not my style.
All I can hear is adult rockstars kidnapping teenagers
The album opens with an amazing rock anthem. The driving drums and bass, and Plant's banshee wail make you feel like youre riding into Valhalla. Unfortunately, it's all downhill from there. The voice that was perfect for the proto-metal of The Immigrant Song becomes an unlistenable screech behind the confused country/folk/blues meandering of the rest of the album. There is no cohesion to the songwriting, with guitar, bass, and drums often clashing against each other. The slowed down blues of Since I've Been Loving You is a nice reprieve until Plant's caterwauling takes over again. The renaissance faire hoedown of a cover of traditional folk song Gallows Pole suffers a similar fate, and like many on this album, devolves into abject nonsense by the end. The only trace of rock & roll on the album is the opener, and there are much better folk, country, and blues bands out there.
I don't get it. They just robbed over peoples work. Robert Plant is also a massive knobhead as he tried to pull the 'Do you know who I am card?' to a friend once..
For the third time, the lead balloon is going down.
1/5 did not enjoy most of the songs, gave me a headache.
Immigrant Song in 2025 just gives Marvel movie. The imitation southern twang from a British band feels inauthentic. Dive bar energy
Yeah led zep isn't my thing at all. Would I revisit: nah.
*A stress inducing album. Instrument banging and screaming vocals. Yuck
Umm, kind of just like a worse version of Led Zeppelin 1, which I don’t love anyway. A lot of the songs are too long/boring or really gross, the high points aren't as high. Still definitely some enjoyable aspects.
This is the 15th album I’m rating. This is the second Led Zeppelin album I have gotten and I am pretty unfamiliar with it. I’ve really only listened to the Immigrant Song which I think is overrated. Immigrant Song - Not Adding to my Playlist. Like I said before, it’s overrated. Friends - Adding to my Playlist. This song is barely good enough. Celebration Day - Adding to my Playlist. About as good as Friends. Since I’ve Been Loving You - Not Adding to my Playlist. Long and not that good. Out on the Tiles - Not Adding to my Playlist. Boring and not memorable. Gallows Pole - Not Adding to my Playlist. The song is fine and a bit annoying. Tangerine - Not Adding to my Playlist. This is not a good album. That’s the Way - Not Adding to my Playlist. This is just not good. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp - Adding to my Playlist. This feels like Bron-Yr-Aur. Hats Off to (Roy) Harper - Not Adding to my Playlist. This is weird and annoying. All in all I liked 3/10 of the songs. My standards might be too low I feel like I’m giving out too many 3 stars. This is a little better than The Bends.
not my fave, i think one song that im genuinely gonna listen to they sound tone deaf af yeah no i do not fuck with any song on here except one and even that is MID, like genuinely i do not get their hype. i am so sorry.
Led Zepp's legacy is gargantuan, they are loved by people of all ages. Their body of work is eyed with envy by multitudes of artists. I never got into them (should I admit to that?) This album was a severely average, I don't mind 'Immigration Song' its not their best, but listenable. The rest? It was a yawnfest and I couldn't wait for the album to end. However, at the end, I quite liked the vocal tremelo effect on 'Hats off to Roy Harper' but that was about it. A 1 star poor effort.
Led Zeppelin's music is solid. Robert Plant's vocals sound like someone put a cat in a bag and proceeded to kick it for 45 minutes.
Gefällt mir nicht.
I’m with Brenda from Bristol on this. About as entertaining as the other one that’s already been from this list.
Robert Plant is unlistenable, too much noodling guitar, Immigrant Song is a good opener though.
