Not my favorite led Zeppelin album
Pretty solid. I liked the acoustic guitar. Vocals are not my favorite. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp was my favorite song
One of my least Favourite of them but only because i really dont like immigrant song, The rest is amazing
Not the best Zeppelin album. Not sure why it's on here when there are several other Zep records that are significantly better.
Another excellent album. Might consider this one slightly more "folksy" than the earlier ones.
不是那么Metal
I've had this one for a while. It's one of the weaker Led Zeppelin records for me! It feels meandering and self-indulgent in way too many places.
This was pretty good. The acoustic songs were better than the super heavy ones.
Helt habilt. Immigration song är snorbra även thats the way. Resten är ok, hyfsat samma, kan inte riktigt särskilja låtarna. Men i grund skön rock.
Not their best but come on, it's Led Zeppelin.
I've heard it before. The guitar and bass performances are great. I don't think Bonham was as good here as on the 1st or 4th albums. But Robert Plant's vocals just don't match a lot of the musical style here. Only a couple of good songs, otherwise a mediocre effort.
Well, I found a few interesting nuggets in there. Overall, it was some fine Zepp - which I did not know very well other than Immigrant Song.
OK, listening to full albums rather than the overplayed selections of my youth, I'm coming to appreciate them more. I'm probably more a 3.5, but not quite ready to push this up to 4 stars.
I'm sure fans of their first two albums must have said "WTF?" after listening to this for the first time. While it's not their one of their best and none of the songs are very well known other than "Immigrant Song", their departure from hardcore guitar into blues and folk on this album really demonstrates their range and talent as musicians. A few years ago Katie and I were traveling through Wales, and we went a little out of our way to go to Bron-Yr-Aur cottage, where they wrote a lot of the songs on III and IV. Was hoping to at least get a picture, but we abandoned ship when I saw that you had to go up a steep gravel path off the main road to get there...it looked like someone's driveway. And apparently the current owners aren't fond of Zep fans making a pilgrimage to their property...not worth the hassle.
Starts great. And then it ends, fine?
tad boring, this one
Akustischer als gedacht. Viele Lieder kannte ich noch nicht.
Tangerine was good. High 3.
Big Zeppelin fan, but this has been my least favorite so far. 3-3.5/5
Not their best, but Immigrant Song is crushing
Quite the ride, the second half of the album far worse than the first half. Vocals get quite annoying at times, probably it's just me. Good instrumentals sounds like a good album to chill on. Celebration Day is my personal favourite of this album.
Yo quiero ver lo que me vayan a decir cuando vean este rating
While this album starts off well, it falls apart slowly but steadily as the album goes on. Overall it was still a good album, but not as good as II
this shit was playing in the ramen shop no cap
Immigrant Song is a banger of an opener, but this one just never lives up to the previous two. Nice to see them experimenting a little, the blues influence is still present, but they seem to be leaning on it with less weight. A couple slower tunes here (almost acoustic). All in all a little lackluster for the boys, compared to their previous two.
Folkier than I expected
Not my favorite album by them.
Not sure I'd have this Led Zeppelin album on this list, but I presume there will be others.
Underwhelming, slightly annoying maybe. 68/100
another decent but uninspiring album from led zep. this is our third one in three weeks and they just all sound like the same boring blues rock after a while. nostalgia carries this band so hard and I have very little of that for them. that said, immigrant song is a five-star song on a three-star album. that song fuckin slaps. favorites: immigrant song, since i've been loving you
Led Zep never really did it for me. Sure they rock and are one of the preeminent bands of our time, but man they are just so bluesy. In a take or leave it situation, I would leave it. This was fine all things considered.
Highlights: Immigrant Song, Tangerine
It just not my style
I love Immigrant Song (and it makes me think of Rathergood Viking Kittens more than Marvel's Thor) but no other song made me pause to look at what was playing.
Ei Led Zeppelinin parasta, tosin tykkäsin hiukan loppupäästä joka oli enemmän country ja bluegrasstyyppistä. Parhaat: Immigrant Song, That's The Way
Overall enjoyable but had few standout features
Honestly this album isnt really my vibe I think theres maybe one or two songs I enjoyed for their slower pace.
Not sure how far I’ll get, but we’ll give this a try! I’m glad the first album was a band I was familiar with and kind of liked! While I really only know a few of their songs, LZ’s reputation as some of the greatest rockers of all time precedes them. So it was a weird surprise to find aside from a few exceptions, this album mainly featured folk songs rather than hard rock. At the time, the reception upon release was mixed and I can sort of see why. While I’d say this isn’t a bad album by any means, it’s just kind weird and nothing stands with the exception of the incredible “Immigrant Song” which was famously featured in Thor: Ragnarok. Wouldn’t mind re-listening to this, I use don’t have much of a desire to re-listen to it. 6/10
my favourite LZ album
If a Led Zeppelin.
I liked the start and then it fell off (drink). Favourite track: Gallows Pole.
Outside of a few songs I thought it was kinda boring
now this is *exactly* what i was expecting
i liked it but i also got tired of it .
Yeah whatever it's fine.
While this album is good, I do not think it is among the best of Led Zeppelin. Bron-y-aur stomp goes hard.
My first exposure to an actual Led Zeppelin album was... a little underwhelming. Obviously Immigrant Song is the standout, but nothing else on the album really follows it, and it comes off as a mid blues-rock album.
Led Zeppelin is often hit or miss for me. While there are some Zeppelin songs that I absolutely love, and this album has a couple of them, I’ll never listen to it straight through again. Besides their fourth album, I think I’d prefer to listen to a compilation of their hits. Am I allowed to say that??
more folky and acoustic than their previous 2 albums. still some blues and rock on here also.
Eh. Kinda too chaotic for me. I could see how the guitar would be super cool and neat, but the guys voice irks me
Starts off strong with Immigrant song but can never get back to those highs. Since I've Been Loving You is another great cut. Folk rock is not exactly what I want from this band, and I've never been a fan of Robert Plant's vocals. The last three tracks are really dragging this down a lot, especially the last one. Why is it mixed like that? Hats Off to (Roy) Harper is a big reason why I can't rate this higher than a 3.
high 3/5, it gives me extra interest in listening to more led zeppelin albums
A strong start with Immigrant Song, but it doesn’t maintain that energy. It actually transitions to a much more acoustic heavy, almost folk rock. The lyrics are mostly pretty mediocre, but the singing itself is still powerful. An enjoyable experience
its fine
Not at the level of the first two but still a solid one
Couple standouts but nothing special
This is somewhere between three and four stars for me. I enjoyed this, with Immigrant Song being the obvious standout; that song never fails to get me hyped up. I listened to it while going hard on the Stairmaster, and I was glad it was under two-and-a-half minutes in length. The rest of the songs, while not "low energy" were not as hard hitting. A lot of blues. I quite enjoyed "Since I've Been Loving You" which is longer and unfolds and builds slowly into a blusey crescendo, and "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp," bringing a galloping, twangy energy setting it apart from the rest of the tracks. This music doesn't seem like 1970 to me somehow. It doesn't feel newer, nor older than that either. And it doesn't feel British. It's like they mined the best in American blues and country/bluegrass, put those influences in a blender, and came up with something familiar but still it's own separate thing and still of them.
Perhaps my least favorite of all the Led Zep albums aside from In Through the Out Door and Coda. Grew on me over time. Since I’ve Been Loving You is perhaps in my top Led Zeppelin songs, especially their live version. Would give this 3 1/2 stars if possible, knowing I would rate their others 4-5 stars. Also enjoy this album more than the ones I ranked 3 stars so far.
Third Led Zeppelin album in less than two weeks. I guess we're just gonna pound all of these out at once, huh? Let's listen. Eh, it's no masterpiece. Starts off strong with the iconic "Immigrant Song" but kind of peters out after that. I don't think it's Led Zeppelin fatigue, I just don't think the highs hit quite as high as in Led Zeppelin I and IV (the LZ albums I've already drawn so far). Interesting that this is the point in time in which LZ shifted into a more folk rock sound, but a few of the tracks feel...experimental as a result.
I love Immigrant Song but otherwise I'm not really that big a Led Zeppelin fan. Try as I might nothing much grabs me. They can play and they can sing and some of their songs are epic however something feels missing
Good album. Favourites- immigrant song, out on the tiles, that’s the way
Immigrant song as an opener goes HARD. The rest was nice but did not blow my mind like other LZ albums here. 3* Highlights: immigrant song,
Parts of this album dragged for me. I like Zeppelin, though never enough to buy one of their albums. Sure, I ripped one or two from Pirate Bay eventually, after reading When Giants Walked the Earth. The first song here is a good example of how I can get charged up listening to them, and then lose interest as the album progresses.
It started off really well, but faded farther into the album.
This album is like a shit sandwich, but the shit is actually the bread while the middle is delicious. Celebration Day would have made an excellent album opener.
Average Zeppelin
I've always found III to be the weakest of Zeppelin's "core" albums. This re-listen confirmed this. Outside of some of Plant's vocals it does very little to highlight any of the strengths of the band. There are hardly any riffs or solos from Page. The drumming doesn't feature much of Bonham's hard hitting style or creative fills. Not much of what JPJ does on his other instruments stands out compared to their later work. It's not that its a bad album its just a clear step below nearly everything else in their discography. For some reason they leaned a little more into a folky rockabilly style which is fine but not as good as what they moved into. It's still a good album, it's just mostly forgettable when you put it up against a handful of all-timers from the rest of their catalog. The album is limited in terms of its "hits" though I will say I've been sleeping on Since I've Been Loving You for years. 3.35 stars
I feel like the more Zeppelin I listen to the less I like them :-/ They're starting to feel like AC / DC to me — for the most part, if you've heard one of their songs you've heard them all. Also, the lyrics are major yikes on some of the songs. The "Gallows Pole" is just gross — dude pimps out his sister to try to get the hangman to commute his sentence and the dude's like 'thanks for sending your sister to keep me warm ... still gonna kill you, though.' BARF. And what was that whole thing about front doors and back doors on "Since I've Been Lovin You"?? 3/5 One star for the "Immigrant Song" and two stars because it's not literally unlistenable, but I wish I could go back in time to when I'd only ever heard the IV album.
‘Friends’ reminds me of The White Stripes, who I think are big fans of Led Really liked ‘Bron-Y-Aur Stomp’
So, it's Zepplin III, one of their more folkiest, acoustic albums which was conceived at a remote Scottish cottage. There are several bangers in the first half of the album; Immigrant Song, Celebration Day, and Gallows Pole, but the rest is kind of boring.
Not the best Zepp we've had but still pretty cool tbh. One of these legacy acts that I can pretty immediately understand how they came to be that way. So much confidence in the performances, never overstays its welcome. Good rock and roll, uhhh, music. Three and a half. Fave track: Immigrant Song
Solidan rock album. Pred kraj se malo gubi. Fav songs: Since i’ve been loving you 7/10
It’s essentially impossible to measure up on a complete album when the iconic Immigrant Song is your opener. Probably one of my least fave LZ albums, but I still found it pretty interesting from an artistic standpoint with obvious growth of the band venturing into more acoustic instruments and style. Some numbers were way too bluesy for me but I did like the use of mandolin and banjo, etc.
Immigrant Song is one of my favorites from Led Zeppelin, and there were a few others from this album that I liked, but I would not put it in my Top 100. Felt like a bluesy exploration, and that was interesting. Just not enough to make me want to listen a second time all the way through.
Good but doesn't tickle me
While its not my favorite Zeppelin album, it certainly one that I listen to often. I feel that is is the album where the group started to hone their writing skills and explore new territory. Led Zeppelin III and IV are to the group as Revolver and Sgt. Peppers are to the Beatles.
This didn't grab me as much as I remember Led Zep I doing. Not sure if that's because this album is less to my taste or because I'm in less of a Led Zep mood today. I liked "Tangerine".
3 stars.
The hits are great but it's definitely among their weakest. If they insist on putting 5 of their albums in the list (which I don't mind), I would put "Houses of the Holy" instead of this.
Zeppelin is so incredibly overplayed, and I genuinely never want to listen to them again. That said, this album starts off so strong with Immigrant Song and then never really reaches that high again on this album. Quality music, but it’s not even close to Zep 4.
Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, Celebration Day, Immigrant Song, and That’s the Way were standouts for me. Other than that, I thought it was good but not something I would revisit.
It’s got immigrant song on it - everything else is pretty mid for me.
begins very strong but next one is a dud. It gets better again, but all in all everything seems a bit interchangeable : Pages guitar, Plants vocals.... Still i give it three stars, because let's face it, less good songs by LZ are still a lot better than the best songs of other bands. Compared to LZ back catalogue, 2 stars would be max, but compared to all other artists, still a solid three stars
a great one!
I find Led Zep a bit overwrought on longer pieces, prefer their short, four minute rock n roll songs. This is an okay album, tho'.
Not a hater on the Zepp, but they were not my thing as a teen, which feels like it makes a difference. I like a lot of their hits, and tbh, “Immigrant Song” might be one of the best album openers ever. Just goes so incredibly hard. They lose me some when they indulge in their bluesy Americana thing, which this album has a lot of. Don’t begrudge anyone who love this stuff, it’s just not my cuppa tea.
Passabler Folk Rock.
First album! Celebration Day, Since I’ve Been Loving You, and Out on the Tiles is a crazy 3 song run, highlights of the album. Tangerine and That’s The Way are both pretty solid, nothing TOO memorable but I liked them. Immigrant Song is obviously a classic. Outside of that, rest is forgettable to bad. Couldn’t get through the last song. All in all, first half was really good, second half was pretty meh, a fine album overall.
Definitely the weakest of their first 4 albums. Still some good stuff though.
Led Zeppelin - III Starts off great with Immigrant Song. Then just typical rock songs. It's ok, not as good as their previous 2 albums. 3/5
This is definitely my least disliked Zeppelin album. First half is actually really good. But the second half is just a huge fall off. I understand this is an important band and I see why people like them, but personally I really can't stand them. This album is okay though
3/5 Always like Zeppelin, wouldn’t say it’s my favorite. Definitely more folk and acoustic guitar driven here but I dig it.
Not in the top bracket of Zep albums but interesting enough all the same. Witness, for example, the foundations (“That’s he Way”) for the “acoustic sets” on future tours. Also notable for arguably Page’s finest solo on “Since I’ve Been Loving You” (and a low-key favourite of mine on “Tangerine”).
3.5/5 Not much to say about this album, it’s just good. I enjoyed it, not my favourite of led zeppelin but still good.
Hate the techno
Honestly, I never given Led Zeppelin my attention. I like the acoustic songs on this. I love the vocals and riff of Out on the tiles. I’m glad I gave this a listen but not really my cup of tea, still I can see why they are an influential band.
i find it hard to focus on albums like this one... i've listened to this straight before and had the same experience... someone needs to explain it to me maybe.
Good
Mid Zeppelin
Props for Immigrant Song, an absolute cultural touchstone. I wasn't impressed by anything else on this album. It feels like I like Led Zeppelin less and less over time.
Bombastic Led Zep at their best, have they ever given credit for all the blues riffs they stole. Plant's falsetto is a bit ridiculous. Zep was on heavy rotation when I was a teen, my friends were big fans. Plant is probably one of the greatest guitarists and Bonham hits the drums like he has iron hammers. It is all a bit absurd but it is entertaining. The soft/hard of Tangerine is beautiful, his overdubbed vocals remind me of auto tune. The acoustic That's the Way is sweet. It is hard to be objective when you've heard the album a million times.
it started off really strong. Immigrant Song is an all-timer, or course, and the album continued along that vein for a few songs. Then it got kinda bluesy rock, which was also pretty damn good. Then the last few songs were just kind straight blues. Which isn't a bad thing in itself, I just think they're not particularly good blues songs. Decent, sure, but nothing really to write home about. I know this is considered a classic rock album, and I really wanted to give it a good score, but I just kind of think it's just OK. Good even - but not great
Hot take: Jimmy Page is a fantastic guitar player. I could listen to him play guitar all day. Hotter take: Robert Plant grates on me at times and the band’s final product can, at times, leave me wanting. You know who Robert Plant reminds me of? Janis Joplin. This project sparked a new fondness for Janis in me. For Robert? Not yet, at least. Don’t get me wrong, there’s some 5 star songs from them, including the one on this album that starts it out. But Jimmy carries this band.
Buen disco, buena banda.
Ok
I never fully got the Led Zepplin thing.. it always seemed to be a group older people revered as being awesome? This album opened well with the Immirant Song, and the rest was ok, but to be honest, I'm never gonna listen to this again.
I don’t find this to be peak Led Zeppelin but it’s still a noteworthy collection of tunes. Friends was a nice discovery which I wasn't previously familiar with. I appreciated the general acoustic vibe of the record.
Love Immigrant Song and the rest is hit or miss
Appreciated, but personally not my thing.
Good album, good songs. Not their best, but says a lot that 'not their best' still makes it to the top.
is good
Sometimes playing guitar makes you appreciate music more and sometimes it makes you appreciate music less - Bron-Y-Aur Stomp is probably good, but it sounds like what you play fucking around in a new blues alternate tuning for the first time. If I didn't know about all the blues musicians Brits of the 60s & 70s ripped off I'd probably find this stuff amazing. Don't think I like any of the rockers on here as much as the other albums. That's The Way is on my Shuffle Zeppelin road trip playlist, and I maintain that Shuffle Zeppelin driving down some coastal highway is the best Led Zeppelin 'album'. Led Zeppelin III is very III. music: hated. (⌐■_■)
This is (I think) my favourite Zeppelin, but still. Man. Their songs always start off so groovy, and then Robert Plant comes in with his awwwweeeeeaaaaayyyyyaaaaa baaaayyyyybaaaaay stuff. A guy can only take so much. I thin
How much I enjoy Led Zep is very dependent on my mood. I listened on a day I was open to their sound, and I could hear and appreciate how it was developing.
Good in a "I know I'm supposed to like this, and I do, just not as much as the true fans do" kind of way. Also, I can't think of another good song ruined by terrible production as much as "Hats off to (Roy) Harper" was.
Immigrant Song is a beyond fantastic way to open an album The rest is fine but never particularly moved me
Another album of a band I thought that I knew what they were about, and another album where I'm wrong. That said, the falsetto/yelling gets old and makes it difficult for me to differentiate one band from another. The musicality is fascinating. More blues influence than I expected.
Uno de los discos más fuertes de la primera etapa. De todas formas no soy fan de esta banda. Lo aprecio, pero no es lo mío.
no surprises. 3
3.5
First time listening to III, though of course I'm familiar with The Immigrant Song and Since I've Been Loving You. As a whole it's great material from the band, but it just doesn't move me like the following album and Houses of the Holy.
That folkiness was fun. I didn't expect the banjo
There are some real gems here when you dig in past the cuts you heard on the radio. Can really here the influence they had on Jack White both guitar and vocals. Hadn’t really picked up in that before.
I've always liked but not loved Led Zeppelin. Their first album is the only one I owned when I was young, but I did play it quite a bit. So far on this one, "Since I've Been Loving You" is the standout track. I think I've not gotten into this album because of "Immigrant Song". I've never liked that one and never gotten past it. "Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp" was in heavy rotation for me as a child as well.
Weakest of the first four, surprisingly. Only song I really enjoyed was Since I've Been Loving You (Immigrant Song is okay too). Not the best of their first four outings.
Overall a pretty good album. Nothing incredibly standoutish, but would be a good album to throw on in the background while cooking or something. Immigrant song is obviously the standout, but I quite enjoyed since i've been loving you and tangerine as well.
Kinda folksy/country not really my style
A good album, especially immigrant song. Would consider this a classic album, as Led Zeppelin is one of the long lasting and classic bands out there.
The zeppelin is on fire!
Ok album but nothing special
Immigrant Song is so cool but nothing else on this album is to me. I think it's mostly Robert Plant's vocal.
Fantastic start to an album, solid throughout though Im not a huge zeppelin fan this does make me want to listen to more. Best song - Immigrant song
When i saw Led Zeppelin i thought "Yeah! this is gonna be some great Classic Rock!" And it was like Immigrant song kick in the door, screaming the iconic "Aha ahhh Ah" …and then it kinda trailed off. Like they started to mingle with people leaving the door kicked in on the floor. This was the opposite experience to other albums on this where they felt like the were gonna be bad but were good/okey. Really forgettable except for Immigrant song.
Not bad, an interesting fuse of genres and instruments with nice lyrics, but the overall sound of the album, which is ultimately the thing that makes me want the listen to the piece of music, feels a little all over the place, unclear, not really catchy apart from few tracks like the Immigrant Song. Maybe it's because I've listened to it only two times so far so I am not distinguishing the songs much from the other, but generally the album didn't really hit much for me. It was okay, but not really something I'd willingly choose to listen much right now. 6/10
Sweet. Only ever heard Immigrant Song on here. Some good tunes on here, not their best though
I really enjoyed the beginning of the album and was excited to listen through it, but I felt like the back half kind of simmered down and wasn't as enjoyable as the LZ I've come to expect
Interesting music themes and blends of styles in early tracks, but the album trails off slightly towards the end. Unsure I would listen to it in full again but enjoyed it. 3/5
3/5 Fun album. Heavy at the start and felt it petered off at the end. Never thought I'd be a led head
Die Stimme finde ich ganz furchtbar. Der Rest ist cool. Leider singt er fast ununterbrochen 5/10
Ok
Favorite song: Tangerine for the folksy sound
Loved several songs on the album. A couple really great jams. Last song is odd
Great listen. I don't know much Zep besides the hits so this was a nice listen. I found that , one song to the next, generally sounded the same to me - but that guitar playing is off the charts.
I’m working out that my problem with Led Zeppelin is not that I don’t like their music. When I just hear the underlying instruments and melodies I’m quite well disposed towards the music, barring a few really long guitar solos. What I don’t get on with is Robert Plant’s voice. I just find it difficult: not quite grating not quite offensive. Not hateful just unpleasant. But I get why Led Zeppelin are a phenomenal band. Just don’t wanna listen to that voice.
A 3-star rating seems criminally low for this album for this band at this stage in their career, but it reflects my personal relationship to the music — well, hell, I guess that's what this is all about. This record is a leap forward for the band coming off their distinct manhandling of the blues on the first two, there is a lot more depth and strangeness to the compositions and you can hear where Zeppelin is headed next. And "The Immigrant Song" is a classic by the the fifth bar. Sidenote: not that this is some deep revelation, but John Paul Jones is amazing on that song and on this record. But, I never loved the bulk of the tunes on this album... "Since I've Been Loving' You," "Gallows Pole," "Tangerine," and even "Out On The Tiles" — what a riff, but the song as a whole? — they're just not among my favorite Zep tunes. So, of me a 3. I've got other faves in their catalog.
I feel like this album is what separates the true Zep fans from the casual listeners. I'm more of a casual listener. This one's never really spoken to me. I feel like all the elements are there but it's lacking the spark that makes their other albums so special. Some of the songs are great. Immigrant Song is about as great an album opener as there is. But overall, this one's always failed to impress. Today was no different. OTOH, it was nice hearing Zep songs that I hadn't already heard to death. But also, Plant's voice kinda grated on me this time around.
I like Led Zeppelin, but I have realized more and more that I don't like full album Led Zeppelin. I can take them in short spurts but not the whole thing. 3/5
I've heard it a 100 times already. It was a great album 50 years ago. Too much airplay since then. I don't listen to music to recreate my youth.
I liked it. Quite a bit of the merry peasant sort of stuff alongside some good heavy riffs etc. But I can see why IV got more accolades.
some good songs, overall good vibe
ok
General thoughts: The first half is more rock-ish, has very good tunes and its consistent. I love acoustic but the second half, the acoustic part, is not up to the game of the first half. From this half, "Gallows Pole" outstands though I feel it would be better shorter, same thing for "Since I've Been Loving You" from the first half. Also, idk if its my version of the album, but the sound for the voice sounds kinda low, its a bit annoying. Conclusion is they should have stick to rock songs and add two or maybe acoustic tracks, instead of making it a half-half album. Favorite songs: Classic Inmigrant song, & Since I've Been Loving You. Cover: I dont know whats the general consensus about this cover, but in my opinion is raw shit. Other than hippie vibes it doesnt express anything, its not memorable or artistic, looks like a bootleg quality cover. Real rating: 3.15
Rather disappointed in this one. The mix between folk and hard rock in interesting, but many of the songs are so one-dimensional and don't really develop into much more than they start with. Also, the mixing on the final track (in the remaster) is atrocious. 6/10
Immigrant Song Since I've Been Loving You Tangerine
Grandiose Stimme - aber dieses Album? Fünf Jahre später kam das Doppelalbum Physical Graffiti. Das würde ich eher bei den Top 1001 erwarten (vielleicht kommt es ja noch).
Immigrant Song - classic, great opening. Since I've Been Loving You - amazing song, mesmerizing, best on the album. But the rest is really annoying, I felt like they drilling into my skull with this repeatedly high guitar notes.
Cool
Some of Zeppelin's best songs but also some really bizarre stuff like the final track.
69/100
By far their worst. All average tracks aside from the opener.
Cool. Of course.
I prefer IV.
any album where the songs lead into each other i’m gonna eat up every time
Heel cool en diverser dan ik dacht, ergens tussen 3 en 4 sterren.
Led Zep was van vele markten thuis, getuige dit folky album. Blijf het allemaal erg cool vinden!
Altijd goed te doen, die Led-Zeppers.
Best ok.
I had high hopes, especially when you start off with a banger with the immigrant song but nothing else compared.
Samey
Ok but not as listenable as II
If this entire album was featured in School of Rock and sung by Jack Black, I think I would have enjoyed it immensely more. Not terrible, not life changing (besides “Immigrant Song”, obviously). Fav Song: Immigrant Song, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp Least: Hats Off to (Roy) Harper? I guess
An album that I had a good time listening to, but I dont think I will revisit any time soon. There's some tracks here that I enjoy and have added to some playlists, but as a whole, it's a good, not spectacular, classic rock album.
Not my favourite of the LZ albums
it was good, but not in my type
Starts strong. Immigrant Song is awesome, Since I’ve Been Loving You even more so… shame about all the filler in the 2nd half of the album
Erotic; haunting; electric; Originally recorded in 1970, this album sees the beginning of Led Zepplin's transition from rock into a more folk or eastern-inspired music (with re-recorded orchestration by the Bombay Orchestra, done during three trips to India during 1972, after they finished touring Japan in '71); no studio musicians were used, with only the band's members performing, and expanding their instrumental repertoire with new sounds. Definitely a departure from their prior work, but ambitious and executed extraordinarily well. Standouts: Friends, Since I've Been Loving You, Gallows Pole, Tangerine, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
Meh, about the same as the first album
I like how they changed their sound on this album, the blues formula of the previous albums was getting stagnant and the folk-blues-hard-rock mix was nailed almost effortlessly. They would do even better with the next albums, but without the ideas they developed on this they would become very boring very soon. Not a fan of the last song, sounds like a delta blues cosplay. Still, "Since I've been loving you" is easily in my top 5 Led Zep songs. (I don't like numeric ratings, I just give 3 to anyone)
Love immigrant song! That’s about it for this album
Not my Genre... OR SO I THOUGHT! Makes me want to go for a drive in the hot desert sun, windows rolled down, joint in hand, cruising with no fucks left to give. You gotta be in the mood for this though! I like it 3.7
its led zeppelin not my favorite album but nothing bad about it
Some really rockin songs on here, but a lot of duds as well. I didn't expect banjo in a LED zeppelin song, so that was cool
Gotta love led
This was pretty fun. It really made you feel like Led Zeppelin III
The day after, I don't really remember anything about the album. Was fine for casual listening
I don't get a lot of the lyrics but some of the tracks sounded good regardless
can’t do more than one zeppelin song at a time
John Paul Jones is a better bassist than Jimmy Page is a guitarist. In all honesty this started strong and dragged on by the end. Production and performances are incredible as expected but it felt too long and it’s only 40 minutes.
Rating 3.4.
Obviously masterful guitar riffs, Led Zeppelin and I have never quite been in love though this is an improvement over their debut album.
some bangers, B sides weren't great
Enjoyed it, but did not feel it was their best album
Drums are wild Hangman is the beat track.
Led Zeppelin III/V I'm hoping for something different from the other two Zeppelin albums on the list. I was quite let down by the album, surprised by the amount of acoustic guitar towards the end of the album, which I maybe preferred. Tangerine was the highlight, really good song A disappointing mid 3 out of 5
3/5. I’m not into 70s rock whether it be led zepppin or GNR-didn’t age well for me.
# 79 : Good album, 10 solid tracks with killer drums, piercing vocals and searing guitar. Couple of hits, I would definitely listen to it again sometime. Immigrant Song 04/10/2023
It’s Led Zeppelin!
Onko tämä nyt sitten epätasainen vai monimuotoinen? Kelpo levy mutta jää ehkä toisten bändin levyjen jalkoihin. 3/5
Jonkun verran jää II:n ja IV:n jalkoihin tämä. Kärsii epätasaisuudesta vielä enemmän. Immigrant.. ja Since.. toki kovia biisejä.
Tämäkin taas ihan jees jenkkirock-klassikko.
3.5/5
This is my least favorite of the first 4 albums. It feels incohesive and doesn’t have an organized transitional feel from song to song. It feels like this is a collection of b-sides and random parts that didn’t make the other albums and were just jammed together on one record to fulfill the obligation to the record label. There are pieces of brilliant musicianship and iconic pieces scattered throughout but I find myself typically passing this zeppelin album over when flipping through my record collection.
i just dont care
Pretty solid week of music! Zeppelin III surprised me. A lot of acoustic, bluesy, mellow stuff outside of Immigrants Song and Gallows Pole. But once again, surprised how much I did enjoy the listen. My 2 favorites songs off the album are the songs I have mentioned. Both are downloaded and both are bangers. Immigrant Song will always have a special place in the heart as it has become Team SHANKS walk up song in trivia. I would like to take credit for choosing, but credit need to go to the beautiful Mindy. Gallows Pole has always been one of my Zep favorites. Just a solid, great rock out tune. After that there were a few songs surprised me. I really liked Out on the Tiles. Thought the lyrics were great, especially the line All I need is all your love. Amen, brother! Also enjoyed Friends and That's The Way. Maybe after all these years of ignoring Zeppelin due to having them shoved down my throat during my younger days, I am learning to appreciate what they have brought to the table. I sorta cringed when I saw another Zeppelin album, but once again, enjoyed getting reacquainted with some music I figured I wouldn't take the time to listen to again. Good album. A nice mixture of rock and mellow. Added Out On The Tiles and That's The Way to my Zep playlist. I'm going to score a 3.5, but a 3 on the scorecard. Pleasantly surprised, though. 3
LZIII has always been my least favorite of the numbered albums. I think it's a little to folksy and quiet as opposed to the heavy bluesy sound from the first two albums. I'm honestly kind of tired of the hits like Immigrant Song or Gallows Pole, but the deeper cuts like Out on the Tiles still rock. A very nostalgic listen for me but still not my fav. 3
3 Lo and behold, it’s the worst of the numbered Led Zeppelin albums. It’s such a shame too, because this album starts ridiculously strong with Robert Plant’s howling viking battle cries ushering in two and half minutes of some of the most epic rock music ever put to wax - and then nothing after comes anywhere close to it. To be fair, it’s hard for any song to compare to Immigrant Song, but it also doesn’t really seem like they were trying to with the acoustic approach taken on the rest of the album here. That’s not to say Led Zeppelin should have stayed in their lane, as some of their finest moments in the years ahead would come from deviating from their signature heavy, blues sound, and the group would even later prove further prove their acoustic capacity on tracks like Going to California and Hey Hey, What I Can Do, but whatever they were doing with it here just ain’t it for me. I mean, it’s Zeppelin, so it’s not unenjoyable, but I don’t have a ton of praise to hand out either - if I had to pick a favorite out of the rest of the bunch it would probably be Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, but even then it’s far and away from the upper echelons of Zeppelin’s best. Since I’ve Been Loving You is the only other real noteworthy track here with it’s more distinct blues sound, but if I had to pick a ballad by these guys I would definitely opt for something like Babe I’m Gonna Leave You or Thank You over this. Not a bad listen, but never my first (or second, or third, or fourth) pick when it comes to Led Zeppelin albums. Feel like Immigrant Song is more deserving of a feature on one of their better releases, but at least we were fortunate enough to be blessed by its presence at all - even if the song is now associated with my dad’s 10 Street trivia team.
Enjoyable. A bit more folky than some of their other stuff.
I'm not crazy about Led Zeppelin, but there's some nice songs on here. Nothing bad on it really, just some boring stuff. Nothing truly grabbed my attention besides Immigrant Song, but I know that one pretty well at this point. But still, a decent album. My favourite song was Immigrant Song.
Led Zeppelin is one of those bands where I think their most popular songs are often their least interesting. The highlights of this album are The Lemon Song and Ramble On. The transitions from double-time to normal time on The Lemon Song are nearly perfectly in perfect and show that LZ really understands "groove" even if they are just considered a rock band. Ramble On is one the greatest rock songs of all time. JPJ's bass line is like its own melody upon which the entire track rests. The rest of this album is basically unremarkable to me.
3,not because it was a mix of good and bad but because despite being so incredibly boring and bland, it was palatable
Immigrant Song
some bangers some shmangers
Pleasantly surprised by the amount of acoustic guitar. An enjoyable album with unremarkable lyrics.
nice rhythms good guitar lyrics/vocals are meh catchy tunes great guitar.
У лэд зэппелин есть альбомы по-лучше
Some great tunes, lots of filler!
Vraiment plus de classiques sur cet album. Je préfère de loin cet album face au 1er.
Pretty average Zepplin fare. Has some famous songs on it but isn't as good as their better albums
If only Immigrant Song was last, would be a great way to end the album, rather than raise your expectations from the start and fall short the rest of the way
3.5
Good album, but I prefer the rock songs over the acoustic folk songs
Good rock
Very palletable. Not outstanding outside of the hits.
Not a massive Led Zeppelin fan tbh.
3/5 Best: Immigrant Song Worst: Hats Off to (Roy) Harper
It starts off with a bang, but kinda fizzles through side 1. Side 2 is better, but it's not as good as their other albums in my mind.
Not all that big on Zeppelin’s acoustic stuff and that’s the main focus here. There are a couple strong tracks, but they’re not exactly brilliant songwriters and it’s harder to hide when they’re not rocking out. It’s still a solid album, just not their best to me. Best song: Since I’ve Been Loving You
Second listen. I’ve been getting a lot of Led Zeppelin recently. This is my favorite album of theirs.
Never really thought Led Zeppelin was all that great. This album is no exception. I liked "Immigrant Song" (duh) and "That's the Way" which I'd never heard before, so that was a nice surprise. Otherwise it was fairly uninspiring. I feel like I've heard a version of "Gallows Pole" before that I liked, but this wasn't it. 3.5 stars
Not my favourite Zeppelin records. "Since Ive Been Loving You" is the highlight and the centrepiece. Towards of the bottom of their discography for me.
3.5 stars
I like my Zeppelins electrified, and there's not a lot of that going on here. Obviously, 'Immigrant Song' and 'Since I've Been Loving You' are amazing, but stuff like 'That's the Way' is downright snooze-worthy.
It has everything! But I cant give it a 4. My criteria for that is that I would select it for my own consumption. But I can understand higher ratings.
A band in transition but some great tracks for 1970 and not what everyone expected.
III isn’t as good as some of the other albums but definitely classics on here
Bundsolidt, hard rock, 70’er
3,5
Haven't listened to this in ages, guess it's time to get the Led out!
Pretty good
Decent
aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA a Doesn't hold up as well as I remember. Zep definitely fixed their folkier sound with the next album. Also is it just me or is immigrant song like so much lamer than if should be.
This one seems to be one of the greatest ROCK-albums of all time, but for me still sounds like a guitar-driven country album, and i'm not a cowboy to listen to that.
Good classic, but I still shifted over to Jimi before the album was over
Short and sweet, it's alright, but not too many bangers on this one
One good song here, and somehow there was actually one or two bad ones in there as well. One of the lesser of led zeppelins discography but the fact that I still think it's a 3 is a testament to their skill in my opinion
It's Zep. Not for me and the riffs, while great, just feel overrated.
Led Zeppelin III is the third album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin. This album continued the band's tradition of playing all the instruments themselves, but there was a slight shift from hard rock to primarily folk rock. This shift at first confused critics and affected the album's reviews and initial sales, but since has been seen as an important turning point in the band's music. Led Zeppelin III has been certified 6x platinum in the US. This was a great album - especially the opening track "Immigrant Song" - and it's psychedelic, folksy rock music made my work day just a little better. Led Zeppelin was in their prime for this album.
I was excited to hear this one, but I was a bit disappointed. Only a couple of songs I really liked (Immigrant Song and Out On the Tiles). Too much acoustic stuff and not enough drums for my taste.
Guitars are clearly the star of the show, wish the vocals were turned up a bit though.
Safe to say upfront that I am not a fan of Led Zeppelin‘s particular take on 70s drug filled machismo rock and after listening to the first half of this album, I felt my preconceptions were warranted, but I have to say the second half of this album surprised me and is actually pretty good. Several songs I have not heard and honestly I felt like I was listening to something more current à la Jack White and all of his projects. I might even relisten to a few of these tracks. Overall glad I checked it out.
A classic. This is not my favorite album from Led Zeppelin, and often when I hear something that deviates from hard rock or bluesy rock, the magic of the band is not there, is an avg album with two or three gems.
Good but I dont like Led Zeppelin that much
I get everything: how people love this band, the influence they had on my favorite bands and how necessary their existence is but yet, I wouldn't choose this for myself.
More folky than I expected, not really for me
Kind of expecting more from this the way it starts with "Immigrant Song". The rest is boring in comparison.
When I was a kid, I had a friend whose dad had a record player in his bedroom. If his dad would pop out to run an errand or whatever, me and my friend would go to his bedroom and queue up "Immigrant Song" over and over again, and get genuinely freaked out by it. Listening to it now, it no longer has the same effect on me, but I'd imagine, back in 1970, that song gave plenty of people the shivers. Beyond "Immigrant Song" and "Out On The Tiles" though, this album leans into a more folky and/or blues sound that doesn't do all that much for me. I want my Zeppelin ripping heavy.
They are all "good songs" but most of the songs on III aren't as interesting as other Led Zeppelin hits. Immigrant Song is iconic though.
Ok, one of the 5 or 6 Led Zeppelin albums I am to be treated with during this process. As far as I remember from the other Led Zeppelin "numbered" albums, this is the one where they kind of broadened their palette, with Immigrant Song being the opening track , a classic Led Zep stomping track, then, right afterwards things start becoming somehow interesting: Friends introduces an acoustic guitar and some percussion instruments that are not the usual pounding drums in a sort of trippy-hippy haze. On Celebratory Day we have something that sounds like a synth (mellotron maybe?) and a slide guitar, fast paced but uselessly loud. Since I've Been Loving You white blues is a hard pass but the Hammond organ is a nice touch, always thought that John Paul Jones was underrated as a musician. There is a banjo on the more folk/traditional oriented Gallows Pole, and That's The Way is a nice acoustic piece of music, although this one along with Tangerine remind me too much of Baby I am Gonna Leave You from their first album. It is admirable how, despite their music being so rooted in traditions, they still managed to sound new at the time, and I understand that. I can also see how the band, along with Black Sabbath, was influential on the whole heavy metal genre; I can also see how the skillful playing might be exhilarating for some, but the whole chest-beating attitude and the somewhat (at least to my today's ears) conservative ideas behind their music, the feeling that, although they were trying to improve on their formula, as far as I can tell, I, II, III, and IV sound like the same album over and over again, all of this together is personally a turn off for me.
Not my fav but good.
it's ok
Hate to say it but not my favorite from zep. In fact don’t really like this album. I know that’s a very unpopular opinion, but it’s too rock for me. I like that slower, psychedelic rock feel from them. Still all time great band if not the best.
“ I'm talking about bands that rock. Led Zeppelin. Don't tell me you guys never got the Led out. Jimmy Page, Robert Plant? Ring any bells?” - Jack Black as Dewey Finn pretending to be Ned Schneebly in School of Rock The first half of this album has a few absolute bangers (Immigrant Song and Since I’ve been loving you) but also a few tracks that are excessively noisy and not that interesting. The second half is much more consistent and really pleasant.
Rock for the 70s and beyond
Better than the last one. I still don't get all the hype.
A lot folkier, more acoustic. Still has the bluesy feel. I'm still not the world's biggest fan of Robert Plant's horny yowl. Album is a little front-loaded, too. Favorite tracks: "Immigrant Song", "Celebration Day"
They go too folky on this one
Never was my favorite Zep album—sorry! I know critics love this one but the debut has always been my go-to, along with 4. I was never a fan of acoustic music, and that sound doesn't really do Zep any favors here. Friends is forgettable, That's the Way is downright a *skip*, and Hats off to Roy Harper is borderline cultural appropriation (but really, isn't most of their work?) Since I've Been Loving You is the real stand-out here for me, followed by Immigrant Song and, funnily enough, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (I just want to hug a dog whenever I hear it, y'know?)
A little all over the place in genre for my liking. There are some individual songs I quite like on the album, even outside of the obvious Immigrant Song as the incredible kick-off. But I don't know that I like them together. Way more bluegrass/folk than I expected, but that could be from just knowing LZ's hits rather than listening to their full albums usually. All in all a mixed bag, but not for me.
6/10
Every single song sounded too similar. They weren't super bad, but it got pretty boring after awhile.
1 and 2 were better for me. Still some great songs on here. Stand out track - Since I've been loving you
I think they're just going to include all of the led zeppelins this one wasn't very strong although it started with immigration song
A few classic tracks on this one, but definitely one of my least favourite Led Zeppelin albums overall
Fine
Not bad but nothing amazing, first song gives you high expectations and it never really delivers on it.
Love Led Zeppelin but III happens to be one of my least fave albums. Starts out insanely strong with Immigrant Song and then I just lose interest. Great band, great album but not for me.
It's Zeppelin. It's good music. I don't enjoy as much as I used to though. Still a good album.
Better than some of the others and a great opener. Still not really the most amazing rock band in the world to my ears.
other than one nothing stood out to me
Wel wat nummertjes van opgeslagen. Heeft wel mijn interesse voor Led Zeppelin gewekt
Love Led Zeppelin and enjoyed the album. 2 great tracks the rest was alright but 3* seems fair.
Good. Not their best.
A little too much twangy guitar in places
Acoustic hard rock
I think of the numbered Led Zeppelin album this is probably my least favorite. "Immigrant Song" is such a strong opener, but other than "Since I've Been Loving You" the rest of the album falls somewhat flat for me. I know that'll disappoint any hardcore Zeppelin fans but oh well.
- Immigrant Song is a classic obv - Since I've Been Loving you dragged for me, Out on the Tiles picking it back up in a way i like though - don't like the panning at the beginning of Gallows Pole one bit, it feels really unbalanced, liking the song overall though - the panning on Hat Off to (Roy) Harper too?? why is it so weird overall impressions: i like led zepplin but wasn't familiar with most of these songs. enjoyed the overall album but probably not going to go back and listen to it anytime soon.
Långt ifrån dåligt, men jag ser inte storheten.
Couple of good songs. Not my favorite.
i wanted more acustic some rlly good ones, but i felt like it was a blur
Immigrants, coming here from a land of ice and snow, singing their songs, driving their ships to new lands...
nominative determinism FTW
Niet m’n fav zeppelin
Not my fave Led Zeppelin album
Bron y ar stomp oli uusi ja positiivinen ylläri. Immigrant song tietty hieno. Mutta ei muuten juuri kolise.
Heard it before?: No but have heard a few from this before Enjoy it?: Yes, the pacing of each song and vocals really compliment each other Favourite song: Track 1 - Immigrant Song
This wasn’t their best work, in my opinion. Some of their songs were mediocre. It wasn’t bad, but they’ve done better.
