Reviews (page 3 of 13)

Just absolutely loaded with the trademark sound & the classic bangers. (Such a crazy single-album spread, honestly, after having primarily previously spent time with CCR in the context of Greatest Hits.)

I was not alive when this album was "relevant" but have memories tied to it. Driving to airsoft games with my brother (we were dressed in vietnam era gear), trying to survive another day at my first job. Those had this blues classic accompanying me. This record includes both the most experimental (ramble tamble, run through the jungle) as well as very safe material (covers, oobie doobie, travelin band) from creedence. It creates a nice mix of the familiar and refreshing, profound and very silly. Which makes it excellent for any day, there will always be something in here to connect to.

Jam packed with classic CCR hits - 4.5/5

They should probably just slap a "Greatest Hits" label on this one. Pretty sure 7 of the 11 tracks on this one already are on the hits album. This is gold. I'll have to see about finding this one on Vinyl. Think I'll add "Travelin' Band" to the list, cause I prefer more upbeat music on lists like that. But "Long as I can see the light" has been my personal favorite mine for decades.

Just about a perfect album. Great songs and beautiful production on all of them. So many songs are familiar and iconic, but even the less popular ones are amazing too.

Another great album, a different vibe slightly to the Bayou River but they make the best music 5/5

this is the first time i ever heard of CCR referred to as a "swamp rock" band, but it makes sense - the combination of rock with R&B, soul, rockabilly, and psychedelica is really fleshed out on this album. Everything from the classic riff on "Up Around the Bend" to their dark and moody cover of "Heard it Through the Grapevine" really fleshes out their sound and makes this an incredible album.

You.could have told me this was a greatest hits album, and I would have believed you. Great band!

I was riveted from the first note. It is hard to understand how every song on an album that came out in 1970 can still hit so hard. Even the dreaded fourth track, with the silliest name possible, Ooby Dooby is just a quick, straight-ahead rocker with it's toes in the rockabilly pool. And in a flash we are back to some of the best music of the decade.

Top 10 perfect albums of all time

OHH IVE LISTENED TO THIS BEFORE!! definitely needed a relisten though since this one's a classic travelin band goes SO hard for NO reason except that they just made peak shit idk

Heel erg lekker

One of my favourite albums of all time. Truly a delight

I’ve always loved CCR and I always will. Just feels like that perfect road trip/camping kind of vibe. So many classics here from Back Door to Grapevine. Bayou dad rock forever. (4.5 stars)

That was a damn good time. Kind of shocked how many hits I'd heard of were on here. I do really love this old school kind of rock and roll vibe.

Love the blues heavy album, it’s raw! I wax eloquently but it’s cerebral hemorrhaging as I sang out loud…

Not everybody is gonna like CCR...especially when they get jamming to start an album. Well, yesterday I had to listen to ABBA...fuck me! That sucked. This does NOT suck! Give me CCR any day, any time, any year over ABBA. 5 fricking cow bells a-ringing!

This might just be the single greatest album of classic American rock music

good stuff

Creedence is one of the greatest bands rock has given us. This album feels like the greatest hits album with so many great songs in it definitely needed to be on this list.

CCR is never a bad choice

This album accounts for 7 of the songs on their 20 greatest hits album.

How can you not have fun listening to this album. It’s great top to bottom with a range of sounds.

I love this album. One of my all time favorites

An easy five stars. This album doesn't even have several of their best songs on it, and yet still manages to feel like a greatest hits. They were just a great band on every level.

Bence önceden lookin' at my back door beğenilen sarkilardaymis. Bu albümde de yaban çöllere atılmışız :-) ramble tamble su anlik favorim (09:49) yeni favorim who'll stop the rain (18:24) film sonu main character arabasına binip uzaklaşıyor tadında albüm sevdim ben

Fuckinb goated album with a great cover in there too.

THE ALBUM 5/5 (8.86/10) Oh it's CCR, one of my alltime favourite bands for many reasons. Even though I'm biased, I still wanted to give this album a fair rating - the maximum. It's the quintessential Swamp Rock album. 2 out of 3 of my favourite CCR songs are on this. Cosmo's Factory was on my fav list on Spotify before we started this challenge, and it will stay there. There's not a single bad song on this album and there's not many that come close. I adore it ❤️ THE SONGS - Ramble Tamble: simply a classic, perfect opening song for the album. 10/10 - Before You Accuse Me: Bluesy southern Rock, well executed, groovy. 8/10 - Travelin' Band: One of my favourite CCR songs. 10/10 - Ooby Dooby: nuanced Rock'n'Roll with gators mixed into it. 7/10 - Lookin' Out My Back Door: This scratches my itch for weird lyrics, you can interpret it in so many ways. 9/10 - Run Through The Jungle: One of my Top 3 favourite CCR songs. Captures the essential feeling of the Vietnam war's music, this is a vibe. 10/10 - Up Around The Bend: The groove and energy this song brings with it is pure positivity! 10/10 - My Baby Left Me: Mixes Jazz, Honky-Tonk, Swamp Rock and Southern Blues. 8/10 - Who'll Stop The Rain: Entry #2 in my Top 3 CCR songs. 10/10 - I Heard It Through The Grapevine: Very successful for a reason, but not one of my favourites. 8/10 - Long As I Can See The Light: Very chill, sounds like an old man reflects on his final moments, can be emotional. 7/10 - T.B. Remake: The "take 1" mention by the audio tech at the start is a flex, this is very unfiltered, but real. I respect the shit out of playing so in sync. 8/10 - UATB live: Legend has it that CCR played in the Netherlands cuz it resembles a swamp 😂 Dope live performance. 9/10 - Bayou live: geez that guitar sound, easy to find, yet hard to master. The fact that this sounds exactly like on the album makes it a live classic. 10/10

Great album to do diffEQ work to. Its a wonderful tribute to blues and rock and i adore it. ((reminder to myself to tell my dad to listen to it))

"Ramble Tamble" is meteen een flink statement. "Travelin' Band" is een beuker. Je hoort wel dat, als je deze muziek tot het uiterste brengt, je eindigt bij de Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Zomaar een gedachte. "Lookin' Out My Back Door" kende ik natuurlijk van de Big Lebowski, fantastisch. "Run Through the Jungle", "Up Around the Bend", die "Heard it Through the Grapevine"-cover, de afsluiter "Long As I See the Light" ... Met gemak vijf sterren.

One of the most iconic albums of its time. The production still holds up, even 55 years after the album came out. It's a joy to listen to while being musically interesting enough to not get old. Each track feels like its own.

It’s hard to beat CCR, this album has so many classics and hits that I just have to give it a 5. There’s not much else I can say about a classic album like this. CCR just knew how to make good music, and they just happened to make ALOT of good music when making this album.

I think there was only one song I didn't recognize. All the rest were hits.

Great Sounds! Great Groove

Muddy distorted guitar, muddy vocals. wifey- this album sounds like a BBQ where everyone agrees that they love CCR

This almost feels like a best of album. Creedence rules all hits no misses.

Aooooh!

I have listened to this album in different stages of alcohol level. And I enjoyed it in all of them

Phenomenal album.

Hard to believe all these iconic songs are from the same album.

Album No. 0010 on my list. Don’t judge an album by its cover, because this has gotta be one of the worst ever. The album itself however - just incredible! I’ve known around 30 % of the songs before. I’m very fortunate that I now know all. I knew that CCR was one of the great classic rock bands, but still didn’t expect the album to be this good. Of course you have the hits (“Up around the bend”, “Who’ll stop the rain”), but there are plenty of great songs on here (“Lookin out my back door”, “Run through the jungle”, “Before you accuse me”, and more. This is just a seriously good album and l’ll definitely listen to this more often - 5/5 stars!

Never go wrong with CCR

CCR!!!!

I love his version of heard it through the grapevine. Grapevine Run through the jungle Who'll stop the rain Good album.

Run through the Jungle stirs up something animalistic in me. I can feel that intro shifting something inside my gut. Gosh this album is crazy. Tight runtime, gravely vocals, ripping swampy guitar, iconic riffs. This is what southern rock is.

Excellent. Maybe their best album.

I had no idea so many of CCR's biggest hits all came from one (this) album. What a juggernaut of an album - blending rock, country, R&B, soul, and psychedelia all into one big, crazy package.

quintessência do CCR 5 estrelas

Loved it so much put it on a few times

"Two hundred million guns are loaded, Satan cries, "Take aim."" Listened to B4? No Tracks Already Saved on Spotify: 7 - Travelin' Band, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Run Through the Jungle, Up Around the Bend, Who'll Stop the Rain, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Long as I Can See the Light Standout Tracks: Ramble Tamble, Travelin' Band, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Run Through the Jungle, Up Around the Bend, Who'll Stop the Rain, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Long as I Can See the Light (96/100)

This is a really great album full of excellent songs. It seems like half or more of the songs on the album would fit on a greatest hits - Who'll Stop The Rain, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Run Through The Jungle, etc. etc. My favorite tracks are more jam oriented and less radio-friendly: Ramble Tamble and I Heard It Through The Grapevine. I would listen to this album any time.

Love it!

CCR is pretty much an auto 5

very nice good :D

Love them it’s a unique sound the greats and that voice such a mix of influences very original

Fantastic album. Fun, great sound, easily will have you up and moving or cracking a smile across your face!

Recently did a deep dive on CCR. The run of albums in '69-'70 they had was incomparable. Probably 3 of their 6 albums in that time period are 5s for me. This is one of em. 5/5

BlueScooter rating rule: any album that gets listened to in its entirety twice in one day is an automatic five star

I bet they put on a great live show

Great start to the week

Don't think I will find 15 albums better than this on this list.

A personal davorite

Clásico indiscutido.

Por ahora lo mejor que me a salido. Estas tíos son la puta ostia

I'll quote wiki (and next thing, I'll ask an IA to write my reviews): "Perhaps more than any other Creedence album, Cosmo's Factory displays the wide range of musical ingredients that provided the foundation for their "swamp rock" sound: R&B ("Before You Accuse Me", "My Baby Left Me"), soul ("I Heard It Through the Grapevine", "Long As I Can See the Light"), country ("Lookin' Out My Back Door"), rockabilly and classic rock and roll ("Ooby Dooby", "Travelin' Band"), and psychedelia ("Ramble Tamble")." I could listen in loop. the cover of "I heard it through " is really inspired.

What is there not to like. I forgot how great this classic is, every tune.

Best Song: Long as I can see the Light Who has the most distinguishing voice when you hear it: Bob Dylan; Ozzy Osbourne; David Byrne; John Fogerty? It took about 1 second of Fogerty singing to answer that question. Borderline greatest hits album for CCR before all of their drama. 5/5.

I did a presentation on CCR for a college music appreciation class as an example of southern rock (bc of their sound; I know they're from California). the day before my presentation was scheduled, I fell and hit my head resulting in a concussion. considering it was my very first semester at college, I went into my class the next day, concussed, and gave what probably was a very strange presentation that I remember none of (I was prepared tho). my prof graded me an A but told me that he would've rescheduled my presentation bc of the concussion. I've loved CCR ever since and this album is no exception. perfect everything. an American, southern rock Beatles

Easy 5. A bit on the samey side, but these tracks have awesome instrumentals and vocal work.

Crazy that I'm 252 albums in and this is finally my first CCC record - and boy what a banger to start with. I wish I could say no skips, but unfortunately Ooby Dooby is on this album, oh well! Who'll Stop The Rain is definitely the standout hit on this thing. I was honestly geared to give this thing a 4-4.5 - but the last 3 songs really solidified this album as a 5. Long As I Can See The Light was such a satisfying way to end the record. This has got to be their best album, right? There's so many hits on here. I'd be so impressed if they have an even better album on offer.

A real ‘holy shit how many hits are on this album’ entry, I can’t even say this is an all-encompassing one either given how there are two other CCR albums on this list that are also pretty stacked. It’s a real testament to just how good they are, hearing these good old boys pluck away really soothes the soul. Sadly this album cover lacks the goofy ‘kid fucking around with different camera filters’ effects over it but I still appreciate the vibes, they wouldn’t look out of place wearing some pinwheel hats for sure.

Incredible opening track with Ramble Tamble, I adore this. Run Through The Jungle - Spectacular, evocative. The instrumentals and vocals on this track are perfect. This is an all-time great. I Heard it Through The Grapevine - Great lead vocals and supporting harmonies. The Instrumental section is awesome, great solos. This whole album is spectacular, there are a few tracks that don’t reach the high marks as my favourites, but nothing misses. Highlights: Ramble Tamble, Run Through The Jungle, Who’ll Stop The Rain, I Heard It Through The Grapevine

*swampy guitar riff* ooooOOOOOOOO a shoody doody scooby doo.... i my wife left me a booby da doo *soul rending solo* yabba dabba doo everyone in my band fuckin hateeeess mee shabadaba doooooo Kino.. thank you mister fogerty....

I have heard the hits from this album so many times that I was very surprised to realise they're all on the same album. Not because I doubted CCR's ability to make a great album but because of the variety of musical style here. I find it hard to believe that Run Through The Jungle is on the same album as something like Long as I Can See the Light. The guys from CCR were indeed not born in the bayou, these 'good ol' boys' were actually from San Francisco. But unlike that Italian guy who pretended to be Native American and made a career out of it, this music is phenomenal regardless of its 'authenticity' (the Eagles copped the same shit, but The Dude from the Big Lebowski didn't have a cassette of theirs in his car, CURIOUS). I'm going to end my rambling, this is an amazing album.

Every song’s a classic!

They're all great. Ramble Tamble is the underrated breakout.

Creedence Clear(the area)Water Revival SENSATIONAL

Amazed that all of these hits are in one album. Even some of my favorite songs by CCR that weren’t massive hits (Run Through the Jungle) show up here. Just great vibes and tunes, iconic songs all the way around.

2 days in a row with albums I love!! 4/5 #albumsky #musicsky #musicchallenge

Very timely, very good. Faves: Ramble Tamble (!!), Who’ll Stop the Rain, & Before you Accuse Me. Rock. July 8, 1970. American/English. 11 tracks. 42:28 runtime.

Great, got it

I tried to come up with reasons not to give this five stars but I gave up.

There was a time when CCR could do no wrong. This is one of those albums. Simple perfection.

Excellent album. Great band. Stand out song - run through the jungle

I think this is a perfect album. It shows off everything great about CCR. The hits are short bursts of classic rock songs and the longer jams show off their ability to get a groove on. The album ends with one of my favorites of theirs, “Long as I Can See the Light.”

A lot of hits in an album that plays like a greatest hits album

This is a great album. A really solid opening with Ramble Tamble. The tracks then move into a higher gear. It is a really pleasant way to pass the time. If this was a greatest hits album you'd be pretty happy to have it in your collection, to think that this was released as a regular album is striking. The musician ship and the vocals a brilliant. Worth listening to.

read in a youtube comment section that the bassist looks like every beatle combined which is true and this is a five.

Banger after banger. Personal enjoyment: 5/5 Relevance to this list: 5/5

Amazing album, fun 70s rock just how I like it. It flows perfectly, it doesn’t feel like this album is 45 minutes long.

Love it. Classic

I listen to this album three times. I tried to get into the flow of the idea of it being a rock, opera, but but I’m not that great at really picking up on lyrics the first few times I listen to an album so it was lost on me. I love Genesis and I like rock a lot, but this is one of my least favorite albums by them. You can go earlier or later and I like both better, so it’s a three.

I didn't realize all the singles are pretty much on the same album

Classic

Here’s my entire experience with this album this morning, summarized in order of events. “I’ve heard of this band but can’t really name any of their songs.” “I don’t recognize most of these song names.” “Wait, I’ve heard this song before.” “Damn, this song ROCKS.” Repeat the last 2 statements for the remainder of the album. Turns out I’d heard damn near all of them before. Needless to say it’s a 5. “Ramble Tamble”, “Run Through The Jungle”, and “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”, especially that last one, are my favorites on this album. May have just turned into a big CCR fan with this one. This album is goated.

This one is already in my collection, so I've heard many times. So amazing! Every song is a hit on this record. Peak CCR!

Solid album. Contains the best non-single track, "Ramble Tamble".

Cómo suena Ramble Tamble abriendo el álbum. Mucha energía y potencia. Agradezco esta recomendación. Looking out my back door suena super fresca aún medio siglo después.5

When I was around 15 I came upon CCR. I loved it. Political, southern classic rock, whats not to love. But then I heard my mom say "Ugh Fogerty's voice" in a very unsettling way and I was scarred. 20 years later I can safely say, Mom, I feel the same way.

I don't know much Creedence outside of the hits, but I'm liking it so far. Travelin' Band is one of their bigger hits, but I never really liked it. It has a Little Richard cover sound. After Ooby Dooby, there is a truly great run of songs from Lookin' Out My Back Door through the end of the album. CCR is able to be a California band that does the country rock thing authentically...like the exact opposite of the Eagles. Run Through the Jungle is a great song, maybe my favorite Creedence song. My Baby Left Me is the one song that isn't a hit, but it's a decent blues album track. Who'll Stop the Rain is another great song. Normally an 11 minute cover of a soul classic wouldn't normally be something I'd love, but CCR's I Heard It Through the Grapevine is the exception. Long As I Can See the Light is another all-time great Creedence song.

The end of a cracking run of albums from CCR. Think I still prefer green river and bayou country but just a personal preference.

Hooo boy! This is a fantastic record. I was a casual enjoyer of the odd CCR banger, but I connected hard with this in a way that I haven’t yet with the music on this list. The absolute peak for me is Run Through the Jungle. The soundscape the band creates using the guitar delay and reverb, and the low rumbling bass, the sound is just so well realised - like danger lurking in the corner of your vision, but never quite materialising. And then to follow up with Up Around the Bend!? Another absolute corker. There are so many other highs along the way too. Granted, nobody needs 10 minutes of Grapevine, but John Fogherty sounds unbelievable, and everyone is so locked into the groove, that I’m not so bothered. This was just so thoroughly enjoyable! I teeter between a 4 and a 5 - but hey, I had a genuinely great time with this album, so it gets full marks! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Absolute classic that contains one banger after the other. So many fav tracks.

Their fifth album. Ramble Tamble, what an opening track ! Guitar licks, vocals, lyrics and that instrumental. Epic! Before You Accuse Me, good track. Run Through The Jungle is superb ! Fogerty's vocals throughout the album are great. Six of the eleven tracks were singles. Five of which got to the top five in the US.I Heard It Through The Grapevine is a glorious cover. This album is one of my Dad's favourites. A solid collection of good old rock n roll.

CCR never disappoints.

I feel like a major CCR fanboy right now, as this is their third album I've received, and I'm about to give 5 stars for the third time. But I can't help it, this is just an incredible record from start to finish.

Loved it!

All I can say is this album is fantastic. Fogerty and company know how to make a great rock and roll record and this proves it. Great covers, great drawn out jams, great short songs, and great politically charged songs for the times. There is just something special about how CCR sounds and the way they play. Lots of hit singles from this album too. A rarity for a large sum of bands. I can’t pick a favorite set of songs cause I like them all

Brilliant album. My only negative would be the cover of "Ooby Dooby". I was never a big fan of that song, and didn't really need another version. Still an overall great album, though.

What more can be said about the mighty CCR. I feel like I have been listening to them all my life. Recently I just purchased all seven of their albums on vinyl, and would not hesitate to put one on at anytime. Creedence makes me happy, that is pretty much it, every song makes me smile. Cosmo's gets right into it with Ramble Tamble, signature CCR sound, but my favorite part is the long breakdown in the middle. Then we go right into the nice bluesy cover of, Before You Accuse Me, a song you can't help but tap your foot to, and I know every upcoming cymbal crash. Travellin' Band is a great energetic sing along, and one of the many CCR hits. Which to be honest, every Creedence studio album is a greatest hits. Another cover with Ooby Dooby, there is something about CCR cover songs, not only do they educate you on music history, but they Amp up their versions in the only way they can. "Dinosaur Victrola, listenin' to Buck Owens" is one of my favorite Creedence lines. Lookin' Out My Back Door is the ultimate classic, as we then end side one with that great dark Swamp Rock sound and a Vietnam anthem, with Run Through the Jungle. CCR can constantly entertain you through one side of a record, then equally impressive you with side two. "There's a place up ahead and I'm going, just as fast as my feet can fly" you know exactly what song this is from that opening riff. So great, let's go! Right into another toe-tapping cover with My Baby Left Me. Who'll Stop the Rain is filled with many meanings, but all I can think of are those images from Woodstock, yet another classic anthem. Marvin Gaye just scored a #1 hit with I Heard it Through the Grapevine only two years earlier, but Creedence does what they do best, covering this song and extending it to 11 minutes with one of the best solo, instrumental jams in music history. The album closes with with the soft As Long As I Can See the Light. But what more do you need, this album gave you everything from start to finish, not a bad song on it. All I can say, is at the minimum, there better be at least 5 Creedence records on this list.

Even gespiekt, maar ja hoor. De hits I put a spell on you en Suzie Q springen er nu zeker uit.

I mean, what a banger.

Only debate is if this is a 4 or 5 star album. Some massive singles. No bad songs.

Loved this and I’ve never listened to it before - it’s very unusual for me to take to a completely new album like this. Bangers - all of them! Very catchy.

Great album, blues was nice

This is a great album

I think VH1 Behind the Music soured me on Fogerthy and that is a shame. This is such a great album. John one of the greatest singers of all time and the rest of the band was just as tight. I can't believe it took me this long to listen in its entirety. 5/5

The Best CCR album. Like the sign says "Lean Clean and Blusey"

I love the kaleidoscopic lyrics and the driving beat. Just pure joy. This is children's music, and it happens to be the children's music I grew up with. I still get giddy whenever I hear the beginning of 'Lookin' Out My Back Door'. Listening on my headphones, then moving onto some other favorites by them… I think 'Willy And The Poor Boys' might be the smarter CCR album but the sound isn't quite as rich. And 'Pendulum' feels a bit muffled and mushy. Idk, this might be their best sound.

Great overall album. Just really enjoyable throughout. The gravelly voice of John Fogerty along with the catchy tunes carries it through. I could listen to this one over and over again.

Great album, groundbreaking unique sound.

Classic southern rock. Still gritty and beautiful after all these years.

When I was around 15 I came upon CCR. I loved it. Political, southern classic rock, whats not to love. But then I heard my mom say "Ugh Fogerty's voice" in a very unsettling way and I was scarred. 20 years later I can safely say, Mom, I feel the same way.

one of my top 25 albums of all time... perfect

Hodeeeeeeee Wat een plaat

CCR is undefeated.

I love Creedence Clearwater Revival.

4.5 ⭐️

Straight fire from start to finish. What an unexpected gem, and what a frickin band

About as perfect a rock album as there could be, the swamp rock feel is here as you’d expect but blended with soul, r&b, rock n roll and country the band span numerous sub genres while it all sounds of a piece and of a whole. Lookin’ out my Back Door and Up Around the Bend are excellent rock singles, the extended jams of Ramble Tamble and I Heard it Through the Grapevain submerge you in the swamp and Long as I Can See the Light is a perfect closer.

CLASSIC ALBUM!

Absolutely stellar album! CCR at their best! Favorite songs: Long As I Can See the Light, Travelin' Band, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Up Around the Bend, Run Through the Jungle, Who'll Stop the Rain, Ramble Tamble, I Heard it Through the Grapevine, Before You Accuse Me, Ooby Dooby Least favorite songs: none 5/5

It’s pretty much their entire Greatest Hits album. Just hit after hit

Has my absolute favorite CCR song on it, which is Long As I Can See The Light. A collection of great songs.

I'm a CCR fan so I'm going into this with some bias. Even so, this album is very good. So bluesy and rocky and you just want to jam to it. I don't even have much to say about this one. It's so good. Easy 5 stars. Would listen to this album over and over. Highlights: "Ramble Tamble" "Lookin' Out My Backdoor" "Run Through The Jungle" "Who'll Stop The Rain." It's like all the hits. And all the other songs could fit here. They still slap. The whole album is a highlight. Just put it on and rock out. Did I mention it's good? It's good.

Did not realize how many hits were folded into this wonderful album!

4.5 Between a 4 and 5 star. Im rounding up, If only because the Dude Abides

Some albums are perfect for driving through the Pine Barrens. This is one of them.

Every song on this album (except one) I know. Probably because CCR is one of my favorite bands. So essentially this is a greatest hits album. In researching the album I did learn that John and Tom Fogerty’s brother took the photo for the album cover (very obscure trivia). Top notch music.

Waited to cut grass to this album for a multitude of reasons. Purely terrifically fantastically awesome n'at. It's got psychotic frenzied singing, guitar licks and catchy grooves that you can play at a baseball game, a cookout, or to impress your drunk uncle who most likely snuck you your first sip of Jack Daniels.

Easily one of my favorite albums with bangers that I grew up loving

Could be fooled into thinking this was a "CCR Greatest Hits" album with the number of bangers on this one.

This sounds like if Roger Daltrey had continued with the sound from The Who's My Generation album

5.0/5.0: Iconic

great album, didn't realize how many hits were on this

Rockin' fun time full of hits: "Travelin' Band", "Lookin' Out My Back Door", "Run Through The Jungle", "Up Around The Bend", "Who'll Stop The Rain", "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" and "Long As I Can See the Light".

Has all the good ones. Almost a best hits album. More jumpy and bluesy

Really enjoyed it!

CCR is the best. I have never found any recording that is not worth listening to

I always bypassed CCR as just another silly Lynyrd Skynyrd southern rock band, but Forgerty is so talented.

Hed es paar rechtigi Banger aber esch au söscht sehr guet. Schön rockig ond teilwiis chli blues

Another great album by CDC with hit singles like Run Through the Jungle

Hadn't heard this album. Didn't look at the tracklist before putting it on and figured it was time to listen to some lesser known Creedence. Track 1 was new to me - so, it seemed par for the course - it was fine. And then...the rest of the album is literally just a CCR Greatest Hits album - I literally couldn't believe that hit after hit after hit just kept playing. It's shocking that you can have this many great songs on a single regular release album.

I know so many songs from this album but never listened to it as a whole. Opener is great! The amount of hits on this album is staggering. What a great record this is.

This was a great album. Even the unfamiliar songs.

ELELLELE

Had me from the opening riff

Never thought I'd give 5 ⭐ to an album with a song called ooby dooby in it but here we are

Kid rock. Nuff said.

This was a fun album. I loved the swampy blues/country sound. I loved the jammy bits as well.

This was fantastic. I love the swampy bluesy nature of a lot of songs, but also of the elements of doo wap and rockabilly. This really feels like a perfect take and continuation of 2 prominent American styles from the late 50s / early 60s: rock and roll and blues. I enjoy almost every song and then love every other song. So many bangers.

I am a Creedence Clearwater Revival fan now

Loved start to finish. Nothing more to say, than has already been said.

I had never listened to an entire CCR album. Shame on me! Every tune (except Ooby Dooby which I would like to set on fire) is executed flawlessly. I hear influences of Chuck Berry, the Beatles, and the Dead and yet they have a completely original sound. Fogerty shows a mastery of writing a 2 1/2 minute rocker that neither feels too long or too short, and leaves you wanting more. Then out of nowhere they show their range and ability to absolutely jam on Grapevine. This is such a phenomenal cover; they take Motown to the Bayou and stretch out effortlessly. They find a groove and settle in to a space that you don't want to end. I remember like it was yesterday as a 20 year old college student shooting pool in a bar in Tucson, AZ when someone played this on the jukebox. What a feeling.

Not many artists have an album this good - top to bottom. Even fewer do it on album number 5. It plays like a greatest hits album. Everything works. The songwriting. The vocals. The arrangements. But what really separates this album is the sound. It sounds like that elusive idea of rock n roll. Loose but tight. Old but new. Exploratory but restrained. And the guitars. The guitars just sound so full of life. Not a note out of place. Incredible.

Didn’t know all these great songs came from just one album

Very nice listen. who'll stop the rain was the highlight for me. I don't know what it was with this one but it just flowed from track to track so well, I wish there were bands with this sound producing music now. S tier masterpiece. Great song writing, vocals and grove.

Big dad rock vibes/road trip through the desert/old record shop vibes. With a sprinkle of back in 'Nam.

I'd forgotten what a great album this is! Just the extended jam/bridge in Ramble Tamble alone makes the album, but add in one classic after another - not to mention the 11" version of Heard it Through the Grapevine! Such an incredibly tight band that disappeared way to soon (and no, John Fogerty's solo work just doesn't compare).

Some crazy bangers on here. It’s kind of funny that some of the songs sound like little Richard covers and then you’ve got a 10 minute Heard It Through the Grapevine which couldn’t be more different. Lookin Out My Back Door has been stuck in my head all day. This is a 5.

During their very brief life as a band, CCR produced great albums including this one. Growling, swampy rock and roll. This album has classic originals and one of the best cover versions of a song ever (Heard it Through the Grapevine). An easy 5!

On this album, CCR fuses 50's rock and roll with late 60's psychadelia so well that if I did not already know which songs were covers I might guess incorrectly. Opening track "Ramble Tamble" is a microcasm of this blend and as such it works perfectly as an album opener. It's transition from tight blues to repetivie groove really worked for me. Most of the other songs I'd heard before and the originals all held up. "Travelin' Band" is as exciting as any of the Little Richard Songs they were payign homage to. "Run through the Jungle" is beautifally horrific. "Long As I Can See the Light" is a soulful ending and comedown after one of the most scortchung covers of all time. Let's talk about "Heard it Through the Grapevine" for a second. This is one of my favorite covers of all time, and I think one of the best (along with Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower" and Aretha's "Respect"). They completely remade this song ans kept it interesting for 11 minutes. That is not an easy thing to do. I think this cover really influenced my guitar soloing so I may be biased but I jsut tihnk it is fantastic. A couple of the 50s covers were only "ok" (CCR did not add much to them) and they felt like filler to me.

Deze komt in de vaste rotatie. Ben van CCR gaan houden door deze lijst!

A few filler songs up front, but this is almost their greatest hits

Great album

I like the clutter free arrangements (and production) that allow the sparkling performances to shine through. You know it's a Keeper when the album features, count em, 5 singles. Top notch vocals, superb guitar playing and a tight, muscular rhythm section. If there's one criticism, it tends to be a bit samey (as does the whole CCR catalogue), but they did produce consistently good, maybe the best, swamp rock.

How have I not heard this album before? You need to be in the right mood to listen to this, and luckily I was... an optimistic 5 from me!

Oh yesssss! Such a killer album.

If there is one thing I’ve learned from this list, as much as I dislike a lot of classic rock… CCR puts out some banger albums. 2nd album from them on this list and another one I absolutely loved. I also think it’s at least the 3rd time I’ve heard a rendition of “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” from this challenge, and this one was really good.

I love the way he sings as if yelling from the other room. Or how he "hoyd it" through the grapevine. If things went a little differently in my life I could see CCR being my favourite band.

If this is Cosmo’s factory, I’d love to hear what Wanda has to offer

Beautiful narrative songwriting from CCR. Their songs flow seamlessly even when they're nonsense, like Backdoor. I have covered many of the songs on this album with my band so I'm biased.

Amazing album with the perfect elements of jam with songs like Ramble Tamble and I Heard Through the Grapevine with blues element with songs like Travellin' Band, Before You Accuse Me, Ooby Dooby, Lookin' Out My Back Door. And not to forget the beautiful Who'll Stop the Rain and Long As I Can See The Light, a wonderful way of closing the album.

Great album!

Great album! Terrible album cover!

11 minute version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine? Let's fucking gooooooooo!!!!

Ciao sono Lina e questa recensione l’ho scritta io

Brilliant

Standard. This album rocks

The best of Creedence

Næstum því klukkutími af Creedence Clearwater Revival. Er það besta hljómsveit í heimi? Í mínum heimi kemst hún mjög nálægt því, trónir á toppnum í augnablikinu. Ég var í svo miklu stuði við að hlusta og eftir að hafa hlustað. Vrúff!

It's CCR, nothing else needs said.

Makes me feel nostalgic for a time I didn’t get to know. beautiful, incredible mix of rock and funk to bring it all home in the final song of Long As I Can See The Light. Don’t skip a single song!

'Ramble Tamble' gets five stars alone.

Best CCR album ever. Great performance by all band members, but John Fogerty is the star here. Ramble Ramble is an absolutely stellar track.

Hot damn, expected to enjoy this one a bit but ended up enjoying it much more than I expected. Knew at least 8 of the 11 songs and really enjoyed most of the ones I didn’t know.

Creedence project with it being full of great songs and brilliant instrumental work.

Loved the live cuts- man what an album!

Incredible album, banger after banger with great variety too 4.5 stars

Chefs kiss

I loved this album without reservation. So much so that I wonder if a family member played this a lot when I was very young or something. Every song hit right this morning. Every song was great, but I found Ramble Tamble was such a great opener for an album full of known hits. I kept imagining how great it must have been to see a live show where they band all hit that tempo change at the same time and downshifted the song, I bet it was electric. I imagine it as the 1970 rock equivalent to a bass drop. Side note, how are these guys from California? I would have laid money on being from the south.

Another CCR album and I really enjoyed this one too. Certainly different, but I like the jam section in Ramble Tamble and the extended Heard It Though the Grapevine. It's an excellent album and it's packed with great CCR songs.

A great title to start, this album had variety and solid tunes top to bottom. I have never listened to a CCR album before, however this one rocked it.

Solid from top to bottom. It was certainly better than other 70s music and the songs are good enough to be played also as a side note

I already knew I really liked CCR's sound but had never listened to a full album by them. This was fantastic. They sound like an older, little more stripped back version of The Black Keys (another great band). Crazy that none of them are from the South and yet they sound like they came straight from the bayou. Love Fogerty's voice, love the slide guitar, love it all.

Plays like a greatest hits record but flows like an album. Hands down best American bands of the 60s

Bit of a guilty pleasure this one. Never a fashionable band, Creedence are nonetheless enjoyable pop. 5/5.

Proper rocknroll. Love the production sound and sound of the room - lots of self-indulgent guitar playing but with these gross gritty tones which make such a style okay. Lots of deliberate quiet in between and dryness, and unbelievable rhythm section grooves. Lots of soul blended in throughout and total energy without needing fuzzes or distortion. Kind of swampy in places. Feels very live yet unbelievably tight - caught off guard by the smooth timing transitions - lots of chemistry.

One of the most fun album I think I've ever listened to. Each song has its own standout moments, and keeps a fun through-line no matter the overall tone of the song. My only complaint is that the songs aren't longer, because I think I could listen to this album for hours. Feels like an essential roadtrip album that can be looped endlessly without ever getting stale. Top tracks: Ramble Tamble, Run Through The Jungle, Who'll Stop The Rain, I Heard It Through The Grapevine

Great album, with unexpected depth if you always knew them as a singles band.

Classic

Eines der besten Alben aller Zeiten!

Fantastic classic album with many hits. My personal favorite song from CCR is on this album (Who'll Stop The Rain), but I also love the cover of IHITTG and Looking Ou My Back Door.

Fuck ja. Heerlijk. Ramble Tamble, Travelin Band, Lookin' out my back door... te veel om op te nemen. En dan heb je die heerlijke versie van I Heard it through the Grapevine. Ik ging zeggen: 60s op z'n best, maar 't is net nog de 70s. 5.0

friggin awesome

Banger after banger. The majority of this album is in the classic rock canon, so I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said. The inconsistent audio mastering of this on Spotify is insane, though.

Amazing! A true classic.

Banger.

Excellent - classic CCR. Adding it to my album search list

Expected this to be the typical cringy hippie blues, but thankfully this was actual quality. Real music, properly played by well-trained musicians. This is truly thoughtfully crafted, equally reverential and influential. Run Through the Jungle is a landmark in American culture. Ramble Tamble alone deserves a revival right about now. And how many punk bands were just imitating Traveling Band? Creedance is the missing link between Little Richard and X-Ray Spex. You can hear so much of this record echoed in several hundred other records on this list. It’s wild. Respect.

Like anyone who's spent time listening to classic rock stations, I was familiar with Creedence Clearwater's hits, and on this album there are many. Yet, I've never sat and listened to an entire album from start to finish. On the one hand, with my exposure to CCR, nothing really shocked me on this listen. But that's not to take anything away from its greatness. In fact, the one surprise I had listening to this was the opening track not being the typical Southern "swamp rock" sound I'd come to know and love from Fogerty and Co. but instead a jammy, psychedelic groove clocking in over 7 minutes. My only complaint about this album is that every song written by Fogerty is better than their covers. They are a good blues rock band, for sure, but nothing that makes their covers exceptional and worth including on a major studio release. The only exception to this is "Heard It through the Grapevine." This cover has always been a favorite of mine and hearing it extended on here (as opposed to the more radio-friendly version I grew up with) had me locked in. Just a fantastic listen from start to finish.

Great album

A classic, i love CCR

Creedence Clearwater Revival is really a must-listen for anybody into Rock music. I love it so much! Immediate must have for my LP collection.

If you were to listen to the tracks on this album without knowing the name of the album, you would think its a greatest hits package. So many iconic songs that have become almost cliche, except for the fact the songs are amazing and still hold up decades later.

I loved so many songs on this

Love it. Every song is a banger!

Imagine, they have written their songs for Elvis!!!

wild, 70s af

I know CCR! I know "Lookin Out My Backdoor" and "Up Around the Bend" from this album. I've listened to it 3 times through so far and I like it. "Ooby Dooby" sounds familiar - do I know this song or am I thinking of something else? Wait, I know more songs off this album than I thought. Definitely adding to my playlist.

It has as many bangers as a "greatest hits" compilation but that's just how the album was actually released. Love it.

CCR’s discography featuring their full lineup is untouchable, so it says a lot that this is considered their best album. Cosmo’s Factory, Green River & Willy and the Poor Boys are neck-and-neck-and-neck for that position imo, all are just great albums!

30/12/24 I was unaware a lot of these songs have been covered by other artists! This is testament to what an amazing band they were.

Near perfect record, so many classic rock songs it's hard to believe it's not a greatest hits album

Absolutely fantastic. A great album that has some of the best CCR songs on. Brilliant

I enjoy ccr's sound and have nothing bad to say about the album. I think there are better songs of theirs out there, but none of these are bad. The whole thing was enjoyable, and despite some longer songs I was still surprised when the album was over.

CCR is one of a kind.

What an album

Solid album, absolutely great energy

Great album beginning to end!

Пик творчества

Everything about Cosmo’s Factory rules. Find me a better song than Ramble Tamble to blast while ripping down the highway. You cannot. Quite possibly peak CCR, this album.

Great album front to back.

I really like this album. Pretty much every song is good. Will I listen to again: 100%

Great !!

Classic

I forgot what a great album this is! Loved hearing it again.

Always loved CCR growing up, continues to this day. Fantastic listen front to back.

Great album, lots of nostalgia from my parents on this one.

All killer no (or not very much) filler.

I'd say it's "American Led Zeppelin", but with more country and southern influences. Banger riffs, overall great album with no duds, would give a 4.5 but I can't do that so 5 it is. Fav tracks: Lookin' Out My Backdoor, I Heard It Through The Grapevine.

An absolute cornerstone of rock history. They do so much cool shit from blues to southern rock and everything in between.

Una viaje total a mi infancia, con clásicos que reconocí al instante, además de su versión de "I Heard Through The Grapevine" la cuál es hermosa (nada supera a la original igual). Cero objetivo pero qsyo, me encantó

Hard to find much fault with this one. CCR and John Fogerty have a really excellent way of blending genres together into one wonderful commodity. There’s so many influences on this record, from old school rock n roll to country and folk, all the way to R&B. It also benefits from having my favourite CCR song, “Lookin’ Out My Back Door”. It’s a classic record, top notch instrumentalism and production, combined with Fogerty’s distinct and unmistakable voice. There’s not a single bad track on the entire record. I’d like to give it 4.5*, but I don’t actually know why I’d dock half a point, so we’ll round up either way.

Gute Laune!

Lots of their hits are on this album

It’s always a roadtrip when CCR is on.

Yeah this album is really cool, the best two songs are next to each other (who’ll stop the rain and I heard it through the grapevine) but the early album easily keeps you entertained. 5/5

Fenomenal album de la Creedence

lol, oops. the murmur review was supposed to be for this. Blame the beer. Pulled out the Vinyl for this one, cooled down the beers, and let Hank (son) hear what pure unadulterated rock n roll sounds like. Thoroughly enjoyed it, as I do every time. Not a song on this I don’t love. Perfect.

CCR rules. This is insane to have this much energy and good songwriting on album #5. Ramble Tamble is the standout for me on a fresh listen--just a sick intro riff and jam. Long as I can See the Light is a beautiful way to end an album. I want to penalize Fogerty for completely making up he's from the bayou even though he's from California...but alas, it's a 5 for me.

Impressive to make such timeless and generally great music that is fairly simple. Back to basics. The Band and Exile come to mind. I think it’s their energy and talent plus avoiding any bullshit. Heard It Through the Grapevine must be one of the most “coverable” songs. “The Slits” have a great version too.

The 5-6 song stretch from 'Looking Out My Back Door' through 'Long as I Can See the Light' is one of the best in American rock music. Every song is simple yet layered, both musically and lyrically, and the rhythms are straightforward but also varied and never stale. Fogarty's feral howl centers the listener by reaching out from all reverb and grabbing you by the throat. I often overlook CCR as one of the great American bands of the 20th century, but their influence on rock and creation of 'roots rock' is hard to ignore after listening to this album. I also appreciate the subtle air of no-bullshittery about them, despite coming out of CA at the height of flower-child moony-eyed nonsense.

A “for life” album in my family. My favorite tracks over the last few years have been Heard It Through The Grapevine (which I didnt know was a Marvin song until I was 20) and Long as I can see the light

How were so many hits on one album!? This is like a greatest hits album. Hell yeah

The soundtrack to every Midwest roadtrip with my dad in his 2001 Toyota Sienna. New to me Ramble Tamble (good) and Ooby Tooby (not good) - the rest is a straight up greatest hits.

I always like talking about album structure and how it can impact a full listen, this album has fantastic structure. Start with a nice longer jam session, then rip through killer tune after killer tune for most of the runtime. Finally give us 1 more long (incredible) jam song before a quick little tune to end it. They could write one hell of a track.

This album is amazing. Honestly just take this album and call it a greatest hits. I think it's timeless, and it truly belongs on this list of 1001 greatest. John's voice is unbelievable, and his songwriting and instrumentation is great. 5 very easy stars from me.

What a groove. Hard to find fault in this one.

So many great songs on one album. This is CCR's best record. I could play it over and over.

Incredibly influential album that keeps rolling like new. Great riffs, melodies, and lyrics. What's more to ask? 9/10

Boring..

Classic CCR. 5/5

This is basically a greatest hits album. 5/5

There isn't a bad song on this album! One of, if not, CCR's best albums! Just a fantastic album front to back. I love a good 1001 Albums Vinyl day for me. Amazing album!

CCR are one of my favourite bands and I can't help but feel criminally underrated. What they aren't though, is forgotten, as I read an article a few weeks ago about their greatest hits album basically never leaving the Billboard Top 200, floating around the 30s, and they split up 52 years ago! Anyway, what an album, what a band, if you liked this go and check out some of their other stuff ('Fortunate Son' is one of my favourites).

The old school Black Keys! Loved it, but then again I listened to it on a haze of caffeine. Banger after banger. Even the ones I didn't know were great!

Great album! This is one of my husband's favorite bands, and now I know why.

Fogerty and the gang were cranking em out.

Rock on

I don't need to listen to this to give it 5/5, it's been one of my favourite albums for a long time (I did anyway though). I wish they had done more psychedelic stuff like Ramble Tramble, but there's still plenty of the expected, brilliant fare from CCR like Lookin' Out My Back Door Highlights: Ramble Tramble, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Ooby Dooby, I Heard It Through the Grapevine

YAY Creedence!!! The dude approves to hard. I love these guys and I had hoped to hear one of their better albums like others have said, many of the Creedence's greatest hits are all just on *this* album so I'm happy SO GOOD Ramble Tamble Before You Accuse Me Travelin Band?!?!?!?! Lookin out my back door certified BOP Run Through the Jungle UP AROUND THE BEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My Baby Left Me Who'll Stop the Rain Heard it Through the Grape Vine?!?!!?!? Fuck yea Credence!!!

Well this album is an absolute delight.

Another group I know. I especially enjoyed Heard it thru the Grapevine.

Almost all of my favorite CCR songs are on this album? Wow, I had no idea! I love swampy Southern rock. Funny considering that the band is from California. Can't go wrong with John Fogerty and the gang.

ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME. I loved it. I liked every single song on the album on spotify

great. classic

Songs: Travelin Band, Looking Out My Back Door, Run Through the Jungle, Up Around The Bend, Who'll Stop The Rain, Long As I Can See The Light

Know every song. Love it all.

love it

wow, not just a 5 star album, but most songs in the album get 5 stars. Favorite track: i heard it through the grapevine vine(cover) other picks: ooby dooby(cover but still), traveling band, up around the bend, Looking out my back door
