Reviews (page 14 of 15)

- vibes sind gut - nichts was ich sehr oft hören würde - ganz gut

This is my second Pink Floyd album ever and my second from 1001 Albums Generator. The first was Dark Side of the Moon and I did a lengthy write up. I'll keep this brief. It was ok. Very overhyped. 3 out of 5.

As much as I appreciate that the album is an ode to Syd Barrett after his exit from the band, the whole concept strikes me as ponderous self-indulgence. From the schoolboy lyrics lamenting the band’s experience of their own success to the guitar licks that have inspired overbite-air-guitaring for generations, it’s insufficiently interesting and not especially engaging.

"Wish You Were Here" is great but I could take or leave the rest.

what a time. when i was 8 i had a really big The Wall phase and i was told that was music for drug addicts. i can tell you i enjoyed this completely sober

Today we have yet another Pink Floyd album. I’ve quite enjoyed most albums of their’s so far (Dark Side Of The Moon was fantastic, the other albums have been fine) so I’m curious to hear this one. I’ve heard that this album was made for their previous member Syd Barrett after his death, so I’m sure a lot of heart went into it. Songs I already knew: Wish You Were Here Favourites: Wish You Were Here This was an ok album. There are only 5 tracks yet sits at around 45 minutes, and I found this to be due to a lot of ambient sound that didn’t really contribute to the album as a whole. There were parts I really enjoyed, but also parts where my brain stopped paying attention as it just stopped being very interesting. the concept of this album is lovely, but from an entirely sonic point of view it didn’t really blow me away. It was nice, but nothing more.

I am sure I listened to this album in real time and thought it very edgy and avant garde. But today the Pink Floyd sound seems like the musical equivalent of shag carpet and bell-bottoms pants. That said … it was still fun to listen again. And I do think that title track ‘Wish You Were Here’ is a very good song.

5 songs. 44 min. One song says (parts 1-5) and the other says (parts 6-9). What else am I to expect from Pink Floyd honestly. Shine On You Crazy Diamond: I am a 50 year old man drinking my fifth glass of whiskey at a bar in a grimy part of town. I had a hard day at work and find my life unfulfilling. I refrain from looking my family in the eyes, especially my wife, who I know is having an affair behind my back. Likely with the neighbor while I try my best to stay away from home as much as possible. My children hardly call me their father anymore, already accepting the fact that I am dead to them. I smoke a cigar before downing the rest of my whiskey. The bartender, who I see as my only true friend, raises their eyebrows, asking if I want another one. I nod, and inside I regret it. I could be a better man, a better father, a better husband. Sadly, all I hear is the wailing of an electric guitar with slow tempo percussion accompanying, remembering a life I never had and always yearned for. (This is all in the first eight and a half minutes of instrumental.... RIP) Too long obviously. Once the vocals arrived I kind of got into it then it was another minute of instrumentals. Haha jojo reference. Welcome to the Machine: 7 min song. Great. You know that sound when you shake a laminated piece of paper. Yeah that. Over and over again. Have a Cigar: Smoking is bad. Wish You Were Here: I had half my headset off and legit thought the first minute was just straight silence. Shine on Crazy Diamond again: Vocals start at minute 5 I actually would've really enjoyed this album if the songs were so long. I know that's Pink Floyd's thing and kinda common around this time in this genre but still. Kinda wack.

this has two songs on it. its a jojo reference. you have to share the same time for vocals and instruments so you can really see everybody shine. everybody gets a gold star. it’s a filler to me. not bad but not great either. classic floyd sound 3/5

So this is another in the solid classic rock albums that’s admittedly very good but that I don’t really need to hear again. Of the six songs, four are on heavy rock radio rotation, and at least one of the others sneaks on frequently, the last being a reprise. Not bad at all, not necessarily something I feel the need to revisit though.

I’ve always liked Pink Floyd, but they’ve never been one of my favorites. And I’ve always been very impressed by David Gilmour. Boy is it fun to get blazed and watch lasers shoot at you while their music plays. Dark Side or The Wall might get 4s out of me, but this one has always been a little lackluster. Coincidentally, on Sunday evening an 85 year old family friend brought a box of old records of his to family dinner for me to look at. It was mostly Dean Martin, Barbara Streisand, and Andy Williams. But a first pressing of this album was in there and made me go “Whoa!” as I pulled it out. As soon as I can figure out a fair price to give him for it (It’s looking like upwards of $80), I will be adding it to my collection.

Men godt nok album alligevel.

Decent album, DSotR is better, but this is still Pink Floyd. Welcome to the Machine was great, I hated the intro to Wish You Were Here. Have to give credit to Pink Floyd for their influence on other musicians.

It was too instrumental and meandering for my taste to listen to as choice. Can see why others like it, but not for me

Have a Cigar has such a nice beat, and I really like the vocals. Welcome to the Machine felt a little slow and boring to me, and the synths were a bit annoying. Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V) didn't really grab me the first couple of listens, but I'll give it a few more tries. Wish You Were Here is absolutely beautiful. On third listen, the intro to Shine On is really vibey and kinda epic, reminds me a little bit of that Flume song.

A surprisingly enchanting nine-part epic cushions everything I fucking hate about Pink Floyd. Holds its own. But don't expect any PF scores higher than this.

Better than I thought it would be.

GOOD 06/10 Fav. Song: Wish you were here

I'll be honest I wasnt impressed, I'm usually a prog fan as well

gana tho pan study

A bit plodding at times... almost like a doom metal album in a way. That works for some songs more than others.

I’ve listened many times before. It’s good

Disco claramente concebido para acompañarlo con unos cigarritos de marihuana.

Extremely instrumental heavy but it didn’t matter as much, the lyrical sections were so strong it made each song a great listen. Just a shame these weren’t a larger proportion of the album.

Pink Floyd is one of the greats. Wish you were here is one Pink Floyd's most popular songs, but I feel the rest of the album gets overshadows by other greats like Dark Side, Wall, Meddle, and Animals. Overall there is some solid Prog rock in this album with shine on you crazy diamond and some new territory for pink flyod making a simple acoustic song with with wish you were here, but tracks like Welcome to the Machine and Have a cigar were weak in my opinion. Favorite Track: Wish You were Here Least Favorite: Welcome to the Machine

It’s a good album that goes well even today, my only gripe with it is that it gets too slow at times

Great first 3 Tracks but wish you were here is overrated and pt 6-9 isn’t as good at pt 1-5

It was ok

4 por Wish you were here. Igual un 5 al single, pero al disco entero no. Nada, un 3.

This was definitely Pink Floyd. 2.5 stars.

Work trip

You just made the longest-charting album of all time, a stone classic . It’s okay to take a breather.

Too long

It certainly has a place and it sounds great but not my cup of tea

Overall this album feels coherent and well-rounded in terms of the whole concept album thing (at least I'm pretty sure it is), but the particular genre of 70s-psychedelic-prog-rock they had going on back in the doesn't appeal to me. I'm also a tiny bit biased because when I hear Pink Floyd all I can think about is all the boomer dads in their 50s thinking this is the best music ever bestowed onto mankind. Mid band IMO

pretty good but kinda boring as far as pink floyd albums go. i mean it has a couple of iconic songs on it but machine and cigar…eh. idk.

Good album for it's time

I've listed to this album once before, and "have a cigar" is on my main Playlist. I love how little regard they showed for how an LP is "supposed to be". Over half of the album is a 26 minute song, and one that is largely instrumental. Gilmour is amazingly versatile, playing ethereal, psychadelic parts with the same ease as his crunchy blues riffs. Waters really brings the funk with his bass playing, particularly on "have a cigar" his interplay with Gilmour's guitar is often very interesting. I'm not a big fan of Gilmour's voice. It often sounds strained, in an unpleasant way to me. At times, the album seems experimental just for the sake of being experimental. Which isn't necessarily bad, but doesn't make for magnum opus material in my opinion. A good album, but not Pink Floyd's best work.

Good musicianship, but not my first choice.

Not my favorite Pink Floyd album, but still really solid 3/5

Synths låter lustiga, billiga och jätte ur plats på hela skivan, whatever. Shine on you krazy diamond e shnice, wish you were here e superb men som helhet e typ halva albume en nothing burger för mig

2 classics, 2 duffers.

Wish You Were Lamb Chops

Well produced, the 6 song 45 minute jam albums are not my favorite. Not sure I see myself coming back to it

This album is just so weird to me structurally. Starts and ends with sprawling 10+ minute jam session tracks and in the middle with three singles in the middle. Enjoyable enough but not something I see myself coming back to often

Very good. I particularly liked Wish You Were Here.

This album has a lot of wasted on it. I would say half of it is totally wasted time. The other half is good. I like it. Floyd is a good band. Maybe a little overrated.

Tämä on hyvä albumi. Biisien mitta ja suuruus ovat sopivia, perusteltuja, ei hajoa tai puuduta. Synat on hassun vanhentuneen avaruusmenon kuuloista. Hieno kansi.

Kiistämättömän hienoja melodioita ja instrumentaalijuttuja. Sai minut jopa pyrkimään objektiivisuuteen. Kuuntelisin uudelleen.

It’s fine, but not as good as I always want it to be.

mate i’m a pink floyd fan but i only got to the second song, why was the first 12 minutes long or something. maybe i’ll give it another go when i have the patience

good but intro felt as though it was 20mins

надо продолжать вникать в пинк флойд, суток мало)

I like the big sound of a lot of this, but I'm not connecting with it on a deeper level. I've never been able to 'crack' Pink Floyd beyond a few songs - I guess they're just not entirely for me.

Tfw you're swimming in a fish bowl

standard pink floyd

4 por Wish you were here. Igual un 5 al single, pero al disco entero no. Nada, un 3.

I can appreciate this, although I would not seek it out. Glad I listened.

Wish you were here is good. Rest is fine but really long

'Two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl'. Ik kan dit goed hebben.

Prima als achtergrondmuziek.

Welcome to the Machine and Wish You Were Here are great tracks, but the rest is only alright.

Not really a big fan of 10+ minute songs, so not my favorite of theirs but pleasant to listen to. Kind of falls in the background. I do love Wish You Were Here. Overall, think I like the story of the album better than the album itself.

5 songs - 44 min! I feel like I don’t get it. I like the songs but it’s like 60% swirly intros and outros.

Not the greatest Floyd. Some decent highlights though. 2.5/5

This is one of those albums that I'm sure I would have loved if I had been around when it was released. It's impact has been lessened by my hearing records by bands influenced by it before I heard it. In other words, it's not Pink Floyd, it's me.

Admirably talented, virtuosic album that I had absolutely no emotional engagement with at all.

Pretty good, hadn't ever heard this one and definitely need to spend some more time with it. Not my favorite Floyd based on first listen but that can change...

I admire Pink Floyd for their artistic talent and contributions to music; but I can't call this something I would listen to over and over. I don't hate the music, but the long drawn out moments of nothing as things develop are noticeable and just seem to be used to draw out the 12-minute runtime of a few of the tracks. It's music, but it's not conventional, by any means.

Just not my thing - dreary, over-long, pointless.

Listened to on 3/3/22 3/5 Favorite song: Wish You Were Here Much calmer and less chaotic than The Wall but I’m still worried about their mental wellbeing

Just don't get into the album. Never a big PF fan.

Great album.

While the middle tracks are a bit ho-hum standard Floyd rock, 'Diamond' absolutely dominates the LP with its swaggering synths and boisterous guitar. Not shying away from the true depths of prog means the final product sounds a little dated, but still maintains enough grandiosity to enthrall on each listen.

Never really listened to them before, but this isn't a bad album. Not really something I would be able to listen to over and over again though. I can see why Wish You Were Here is one of their most popular songs.

I feel like I was supposed to be more impressed by this album given it's lofty status. The title track was great but I wanted more from the rest of the album

3 great songs, but I didn't really care for the intro and outro which combined to be more than half of the album.

Why is it impossible to rate this album? Because it's the weekend and "Weekend Albums" is turned off. Plank! 🍌🙄

Listening to this, I couldn't help think of Pink Floyd in their mega rock star phase. It seems so at odds with the artful rock of this album, but maybe that's the appeal. While the album goes on a bit, it has enough hooks with emotional punch to work. Like, how can you not be moved by the title track?

I don't like Pink Floyd as much as others but its still a pretty solid album.

у меня от такого болит голова но это психоделическая классика

Joa, schon überbewertet, aber noch ok. Coole Syntie Orgel

Not my cup of tea as far as prog rock and instrumental albums go but obviously the title track is amazing

Just listen to “Wish you were here” and move on.

Gotta be in the mood for this. It's great, but not great all the time.

Better than I expected, as I hate the title track and damn near every radio single I've ever heard from Pink Floyd. The instrumental work on the opener and closer was my favorite, but I doubt I'll ever come back to it in full again.

Good album, not my favorite by Floyd

Okay but not my fav

Atmospheric but will happily live my life and never listen to it ever again.

Excellent for the most part even if they don't seem to know when to call a song done.

I respect that this is a very famously good album but it wasn’t a personal fav of mine..

Enjoyed it but the intro was too long

Really experimental, loads of unique sounds (and maybe samples of day to day sounds?). Kinda genre-less, bit wavy, clearly paved the way for other bands to push the boundaries. Sounds like it would've inspired Bowie. Think it would need a fair few listens to really get into and appreciate it, late night with a drink and really focus on it. Hard to appreciate after 1 listen

Like the song, the rest was decent background music

chillig, manchmal zu lang und etwas zu monoton für meinen Geschmack.

Good, yeah. Not as big a fan as most.

Not sure why this Pink Floyd made the list ahead of others, but when it's not a bit boring, it's good

"Come on you target for faraway laughter Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine" (Shine on you crazy diamond pt. i-v)

Not unpleasant to listen to. Quite intricate. Didn't really speak to me.

Wish you were here is good. You have to imagine that this was so bizarre coming out back then.

Merrhhhh

This is the one that turned me off in College - on a revisit it's better but still requires a bong hit to fully appreciate.

good sound but too much instrumental for me

interesting sounds, too modern for me

It was okay. Not my favorite of Pink Floyd’s work but I enjoyed it

Had listened to once or twice before. Never been huge into Pink Floyd and this record is very hit and miss for me - strong start with Shine On You Crazy Diamond, but everything that comes after is more miss than hit.

good i like it

2 amazing songs and then some meh for me. I like a couple other Pink Floyd records more than this one.

i'm not really into it, but i'm not not into it

I dunno, I could just never get into Pink Floyd. I try them again every few years with as open mind as possible, but again, no dice.

Title track made me cry.

Yeah. Good music. Overhyped, though. I'll give it a solid 3 stars, 3.5 if I could do half stars.

Good groove

have i heard of them before? yes. have i listened to them before? voluntarily, no and i honestly didn't know what to expect. I thought they're just another old rock band but I 2 songs in and I can see why they have lots of fans. It's also surprising that this album only has 5 songs but 40ish mins pa rin. In general, this album is okay. I can see the aesthetics but I'm not captivated.

Heard this maybe once or twice before, not too bad, nice cruisey solos etc, but a bit too wishy washy for me. 3/5.

This is a very specific style of music and I dig it with a certain mood

I know I'm supposed to gush but I just can’t do 12 minute songs.

I loved one song and i added it to my library ( Wish you were here). But the album itself is not for me

That was a very long intro song. The first 3 minutes seemed unnecessary I was a little bored. Some of the guitar stuff was fun

Sentimientos encontrados. Las dos Shine On You Crazy Diamond me parecieron eternas e insoportables, las otras tres canciones no estuvieron tan mal, pero sólo rescataría Wish You Were Here.

listened to this a week ago and didn’t have many thoughts to write then and seemingly have even less to say now. those songs were long and did not seem to do enough to justify their length to me

pues una jam session

Maybe I enjoyed it more than the last Pink Floyd I was generated but it’s still nothing really for me

i am questioning my committment to listen to 1000+ highly regarded popular music albums. is this objectively good? it is important? did i appreciate this more at a different point in my life? is the cover art kind of neat? do i ever need to hear the song "wish you were here" from pink floyd's 1975 album "wish you were here" ever again? i just dont know. fave track(s) shine on you crazy diamond

Title song aside, I've never really gotten the overwhelming love that this one receives. I'm just not prog, I guess!

Musicalmente muy bien. Transmite emociones desde los instrumentos. Me gustaría más letra para cantar

Never really got all the clamour for Pink Floyd. Background music at best IMHO. The opening track is fine but the rest just blends into the 70s wallpaper and plastic flying ducks.

I really hated this. Droning, depressing, felt like a run-on sentence. I don't like Pink Floyd in general, this was probably my least favorite of the 3? 4? I've already listened to. Giving it a (2) because Wish You Were Here is ok.

Good album.

This is like one of the biggest prog rock albums and bands of all time if not the biggest, but I just don't like it. I don't like prog rock in general, and this is foundational to that. The like radio single of these songs isn't bad.

Brilliant lyrics, good melodies from 70s

These guys are so far up their own ass and it's a shame because every once in awhile you get an awesome, thoughtful song and then you get a bunch of ambient synth and guitar.

Dislike

Soft rock på den kedelige måde.

I know PF are lauded and all, but after many tries except they just aren’t my thing,. It’s starts with that droning synth, it sets the tone, it maintains the pace and it just creates a sense of dread in my soul. It’s all about the musicianship, and I don’t care. In the cold light of day I can see its structure, its depth, and I still don’t care. I can hear where Gilmore has developed that (glacial) slow blues, and I don’t care. I just don’t care for any of it, I am told it’s classic but I don’t care. PF and Radiohead are lauded on here along similar lines and I don’t care I don’t enjoy, and I don’t have to. Why most would rather listen to this, from it’s score than 99% of everything else is beyond me. Just not a fan, 2 Star, probably harsh but I don't enjoy, and you need to enjoy not merely appreciate.

2.5 rounded down, great sound lost points for no lyrics. Although would be good for background music.

un embole

I understand the historical and musical importance of this band, so it was good to hear this album. The synths are incredible and how they composed each piece is really fascinating. That being said - I didn't really like it. It felt too weird and like I needed to be high to enjoy it. Maybe I'll try it again when I'm high.

Drudgery.

If you asked me yesterday, I would have said I was a decent pink floyd fan. But this....I guess it's fine. Pretty good listening. Honestly doesn't excite me in any sorta way. Wish you were here is obviously a good track. Idk. White noise, I guess. A good edit for me would be to have Crazy Diamond 1-3, throw the other 6 parts in the trash, and maybe write another 4 songs that did anything different. It just gets real repetitive real fast after that first chorus finally resolves. Also, have a cigar is deeply bad. Dislike on all levels.

Quote enjoyed this on an early morning walk through a drizzly London

Cheers for the lyrics pink Floyd icl the music was okay wish you were here is a banger but fucking he’ll it’s just music for the rest that’s all it is just instrumental not for me icl

4/10 Fav: Wish you were here

1. diamond -1.5 2. machine -1.5 3. cigar - 2.5 4. uuizh - 3 5. zhine - 1.5

If I hadn't known this is one of the most highly acclaimed albums of all time I'd have thought this was total shit. The prized status has bumped it up to a two, so as to not be a contrarian bastard. The final song, probably during Part 6, starts to get good... but then the last two Parts betray us.

Pink Floyd is a spectrum and this is kinda on the part I don't like. Long and drowning. It was good when it got to the point but for the most part quite meh. 4/10

trop long et répétitif, je pense que je suis pas la cible. je peux apprécier le travail qu’est l’œuvre mais je ne prend pas vraiment de plaisir à l’écouter.

I dont really love the length of these songs, 5min is fine but 13?? nd mostly instrumental as well.. overall i thought it was a nice album, wouldnt consider it a great one over the top but it is a good album, it has nice songs, my favourite being wish you were here, and i guess i do understand how people highly rated this album. not really one of my favourites but still a great listen and i would love to hear more of pink floyd and figure out which albums of them i like the most, i love the genre itself as well

This album didn't really get me hooked at any point. I do enjoy the lyrics once I learned what happened to one of the members and they were beautiful. But I do not believe that the psychedelic aspect of the music is really for me but I do see how people really enjoy it.

I simply do not understand it

The first and last song were too long and for what Not my style

Songs are quite long, longest being track 1 at 13:32.

Wish you were here good- not in the mood for some of these songs but I want to revisit cause I know they’re good

It’s alright, Pink Floyd leave me a bit cold in the main. Couple of tunes that are great. Otherwise just kicks along

2/5 not the worst thing I've ever heard guitar parts and vocals were good but the generic use of synths got boring it felt like a 45-minute intro to a song but i appreciate what they where trying to do

Not for me, need more lyrics. Love wish you were here tho

I like Pink Floyd but this was a bit much.

There is some interesting stuff here and I feel for them. It just really doesn't do it for me.

Every time I go to listen to pink floyd I think this will be the time, but every time it just goes on and on. It all just feels so ploddy and strained. Shine on you crazy diamond is really good of course, pts 1-5 and 6-9, but everything in between I just can't get on board with

They called this shit a concept album but didn’t even stick to a concept. & no, you’re 13 minute tracks aren’t impressive when they’re literally just four separate songs put into one long track. I like two Pink Floyd songs, they suck.

Too long and boring but my god those guitar tones

nicht wirklich meins, hab mir halt nirgends gedacht wow wie cool

they were kinda dragging it a bit too much...a couple of good songs a couple of bad ones

It sounds like a Pink Floyd album. That is all.

Wish You Were Here is bangin'.... the rest of the album is such a snooze. Shoulda' been a single.

I knew and liked Wish You Were Here. I didn’t like any of the other songs. They were way too long. It took almost 9 minutes for someone to sing in one of the songs. Not for me.

I can confirm that this is not an album to listen to while you are driving unless you want to be lulled into nearly crashing your car by its droning sameness. There's bursts of originality that come every once and a while that save this from being a one star, but not enough to make me like this.

Ikke for meg.

Long songs. Whatever.

Eh. Still don't love it.

The worst is they slip in some good parts, so you know they could have made an album you wanted to listen to

Random

Wish You Were Here er et fedt nummer. Det er ikonisk, faktisk. Men ét fedt nummer er ikke nok til at jeg gider at lytte til et helt album igen. Have a Cigar er også fedt lige indtil vokalerne begynder. Hov?! Den her sang er da groovy... Nå lige meget..."

Don't care

I used to think I liked Pink Floyd, but I don't really enjoy them anymore. This album tried my patience. At least the cover is cool. Standout track: Wish You Were Here

2 I didn't care for that very much

Meh (2.5)

Have you ever had a friend who thinks of themself as "an intellectual?" In reality their "intellectualism" is just their excuse to be pompous and ridiculous about mundane things or to embrace incredibly unpopular opinions. This album is that friend. I think it wanted to be an intellectual album. Instead, we got an album that takes itself way too seriously while having the overall plot/musical development of the average sea cucumber. What a pompous, unfortunate album.

My biggest problem with this album is that it feels like hard work to get to the good stuff - and this has some good stuff (compared to The Wall, which I heard earlier in the project, and was utter tripe beyond the title track). It just doesn’t really feel like it was worth the effort, which takes all the shine (ahem) off of it.

One (maybe one and a half) good songs strung out into a whole album … yawn

My least favorite Floyd album

Brilliant but boring, across the album and even within tracks. Title track is wonderful, but even that is flawed, I never liked the keyboards towards the end. And why two variations of such a long track to open and close the album? Not their best, too proggy. Punk was a welcome reaction to stuff like this.

A few cool moments. But mostly just boring.

I can tell that there’s artistry here but not for me

I know I should like this more, but I just...don't?

Very 70s, I didn't like it much

I enjoyed the single, but the other tracks were not my thing.

I like lyrics man. This was painful for me actually I'm not a patient person

It's alright. Dreamy. No stand out song

I don't really like Dark Side of the Moon. It's similar to that. YES I DONT KNOW EITHER

I have never listened to Pink Floyd before. I now know why. This is not for me. No part of this connected with me in any way. Just endless noodling guitar parts and meh vocals.ugh.

its not bad but not my taste also why are the songs so longg

Lots of instrumental. I’m surprised people like this so much. Maybe it’s really awesome when you’re high. Wish you were here is good but I just don’t really see the appeal to the rest of it. Maybe if i was really into guitars I’d like it more.

Taustamusiikkia, ei hassumpaa, mutta en itse perusta kymmenminuuttisista kappaleista albumilla.

I don’t get it

Not Again

It's hard not to hear this through the lens of film and TV of a vaguely spacey/SciFi flavour, almost more like a soundtrack to an idea than an album. I am conflicted really. I like this that are languid, spacey, meditative. But the melodies just don't snag me, and it's like the band is alergic to hooks, except for the chorus of 'shine on'. Did they ever snag anyone who wasn't also listening under the influence of something?

I know this is a classic, but 5 songs and no interesting lyrics?

this is boring. also I consistently think that "Wish You Were Here" (which is boring but I still kinda like it, definitely more than the rest) is "6th Avenue Heartache."

i wish you weren't

Nice to listen to but not my go to genre

not enough voice

One of most overrated bands

I actually like Barrett-era Floyd quite a lot, but 12 minutes into this album, listening to some self-indulgent tinny 70s brass parping, I realised I was giving this unwarranted interest. If this band wasn't called Pink Floyd I wouldn't give this a second thought. Self-important, self-indulgent, self-regarding. Impressions of an art student's final project with the sound effects and collages. Also I hate the whiny synths and sustained electric guitar notes.

Pink Floyd are not my band. Favourite track: Wish You Were Here.

**An ok album, just not for me

I wish I liked Pink Floyd. It feels like I am breaking a major Dad Law by just not enjoying it.

5 tracks for a total of 43 minutes is impressive in a way. I don’t actually hate this one, there are some interesting parts and overall it’s catchy, but I do get a little bored with most of the songs, they just keep going…

annoyingly boring

Listened to most of this on a stroll through London on a Saturday morning. This album is like a dream or a journey where everything shifts around and new views come into perspective, but it's musically watery and the majority of the lyrics are predictable rhyming couplets. Wish I Liked It.

I find Pink Floyd, pretty boring. I like the song "Wish you were here" but this is an album I would listen to our of choice.

3/10 - It was alright but I mean its just not the kind of music I enjoy. It felt like nothing was happening. Will not be revisiting.

Weird have a bit of a love hate thing with the Flooyd. Thisb was a bot of a hate jusy sounded like a wanky queen in a minor key with lots of 1980s bbc soind effects. Could do better.

With the exception of the title track it’s like listening to one interminable self indulgent guitar solo after another. And you can’t dance to it

Je ne comprends pas ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I like some Pink Floyd songs, but I don't like Pink Floyd. This album is the perfect encapsulation of why. One great song (Wish You Were Here) surrounded by psychedelic noise.

Self indulgent

Have to admit that I'm jealous of people who enjoy this. There's a bunch of musical phrases here and there I halfway like. Some bits that are a little like Richard Thompson but without any punch. I find this album so dull and the countless things that try to sound like it so so dull. My brother once said about a terrible novel recommended to him that it gave him the unsettling feeling that he didn't enjoy fiction anymore, but it turned out to be the book. That's what I feel like here. I bet I would be happier if this sound did anything for me at all. we are who we are I s'pose. music: hated. (⌐■_■)

# 209 : Hmmm, sooo looong, I don't know why this is ranked as a classic. There is so much better PF out there than this!

No pink Floyd

Maybe I need to be high to enjoy Pink Floyd, but I’m not, so I just find it boring. 2

I enjoyed this album while it was on, but not enough to make me want to revisit much from it after it finished

Not really for me - couple of good tracks.

Easy listening but nothing to get too excited over.

like i get it but its not for me. i apologize to everyone

Imma try to talk less about the meaning of the song because writing it here distracts me from listening to the song. Soo first song is starting off with a melodic guitar intro, expected this from pink. Oo amazing transition to the electric guitar, and drums(I think). Going the same but enjoyable. I must say this song is about Syd which is basically the song's name Shine on You crazy Diamond. Ends quite jazzy. There was perfect transition between the songs, loved that, also second song is already weirdly good. Also song is basically behind the scenes of music industry. 3rd song has the almost same meaning as I've read, same vibe, almost boring, but fun in a way. Guitar was the main, yet it was satisfactory. 4th one started weird. Going usual with the guitar and the drums, additionally this one's again about Syd but now song grieves his absence. 5th song with only 1 min lyrics is having the same meaning as the last one, but starting off differently. I still think whole album was an intro, a very enjoyable one tho, would rate this 2 because I don't think I'd listen to this again, as it doesn't stand out. Quite unique sounds, but not the vibe I wanted to get. Overall this was the worst I've listened to so far but I still felt heavenly tbh. Lovee Pink Floyd, but I would only listen to this as a background music.

I still don’t like Pink Floyd, it’s just a weird soundscape. I thought I’d like “Wish You Were Here” but only really like the covers.

This type of progressive rock feels so self-indulgent to me. We get it, you can play scales on the guitar.

The title track is beautiful, but I don't really care for anything else here. "Shine On" would have made for a great 4-6 minute song, but they drag it on here for about 25... give me the precision of "Dark Side of the Moon" over this any day.

Bin jetzt fast durch. Es nervt nicht, aber es ist größtenteils handgemachte und ehrliche Rockmusik

Wam clang bam prog rock.

Too long ago, I prefer contemporary albums.

Overrated

Az eleje jó volt, de eléggé elnyújtott lett nekem 2.5-et adnék kb.

Definitely had friends with this poster in their bedroom. I do like Pink Floyd but a lot of their songs were... not ruined, exactly, but "compromised" by being overplayed to death on classic rock radio for the past 40 years. The title track here being one of the very worst offenders. It's like sonic wallpaper now. As far as Pink Floyd's long form stuff, Animals was way better. Have a Cigar is great though. 2 stars.

Wasn’t for me, but i can understand why people like it. I prefer Pink Floyd’s other albums

2. I'm sorry, but this is just boring.

I really didn't enjoy this all that much.

I don't think this recorded adds much to the list. It's a lot like Dark Side Of The Moon. While DSOTM was not as boring as I remembered, this record was more boring than I remembered. Over 2 minutes to the first chord change, for god's sake.

This is a 5 song album, but two songs are over 10 minutes long! I hate the mere notion that I have to listen to songs that long. The first 4 and a half minutes of the first song is just ambiance, and it doesn't start having multiple voices in the music until later (voices being other instruments) Actual voices come in at the fucking 8-minute mark! This sucks! The music itself is passable but does not warrant the songs being as long as they are. The title track is good, but I'm not a big fan of it. It doesn't elevate the score for this album 1 bit either. This is a 2

Still don't like Pink Floyd man

A lil bit too concept for me. I like Pink Floyd with more lyrics

Boring start, cba to even listen to the rest of that song. Nah takes too long to get into anything.

Listen to that too much in the past. Can’t anymore

Pioneers of prog rock? Ok, but it gets boring.

Before listening to this album I thought that Pink Floyd wasn’t my thing. I thought their music was bloated and sounded like a 14 year old trying to be deep with their first attempts with effects at their disposal. Turns out I was right. This entire thing feels insanely self-indulgent. From the screechy synth to the constant use of the second person voice in the lyrics it all makes me cringe and roll my eyes. Pieces are great - Roger Waters’ bass line and David Gilmour’s guitar on Have A Cigar are pretty fun until they get buried, and Wish You Were Here benefits from being stripped down but starts to get drowned by the end as well. Basically - it’s not for me.

shine on you crazy diamond pts 1-5 - 5 welcome to the machine - 5 have a cigar - 4 wish you were here - 4 shine on you crazy diamond pts 6-9 - 5

its decent, maybe it would be better in a different listening environment

I don't know. I think Pink Floyd is kinda boring, overall. There are some good tunes and some good guitar playing on this album, but I find it mostly meh.

Do people that aren't high out of their mind enjoy this music? Wish You Were Here is a nice song. The rest is just bleh.

Pink Floyd makes me feel sad and lost, in a strange land where there are no friends. I don't want to put myself into that frame of mind so I don't listen to Pink Floyd. I do like Wish You Were Here. That is a pleasant song. Just all a bit too dreary.

It is an ok album. Nothing really noteworthy about it and it is unmemorable overall. There are better Pink Floyd albums.

It’s like pink Floyd wrote the title track and sandwiched a set of fuffy tracks around it to make it look pretty - like the flowers which are not roses in a bouquet. Its pleasant mid tempo plod is non threatening but Dark Side of the Moon this album is not

This was fine. The middle three songs were decent. I have no desire to listen to the real prog-y sections

I came to this with preconceptions and I did try but I found a bit slow and fiddly

I don't get the appeal of pink Floyd. The songs are rambling and noodley. Good for background music maybe.

Boring psych rock

Not for me. First 6-8 minutes sound gorgeous but fall down after.

I mean it's a musical masterpiece........but it's pretty damn boring isn't it? Does it ever end?

Wish you were here was the only song I enjoyed

Not a huge PF fan

Ei ole mun juttu vaikkakin yksi hyvä biisi olikin

Sama ku edellinen

Feel like I’m in a small club but Pink Floyd is not for me

I just don’t like pink floyd

Not my favourite, but I've never been a Pink Floyd fan. I like slower music, I like meditative music, but not this.

No tengo paciencia para las intros eternas

NO ME GUSTÓ. Me aburrí demasiado con este album, todos los sonidos iguales, entiendo que pueda ser bueno musicalmente pero una patada en los huevos.

By Christ boy, three Pink Floyd albums so far this year and not a sight of Syd. This is the crazy diamond one. The one your older friends would play when you went round for a smoke. The one you had to listen to in full because you were too vegged out to leave even though the music was excruciating. Sober, on a sunny spring morning it’s still rotten. Rotten guitar. Rotten singer. Rotten lyrics. Rotten cover. The opening instrumental intro plays aimlessly for 8 minutes until Roger appears to harangue Syd and the rest of us. Then when you think it can’t get any worse a saxomphone appears. Spotify then messes up and plays a 12 minute tune by the Japanese band Mono and I am reminded that it is possible to play a long largely instrumental piece with Grace and poise and without turning the guitar into weapon of mass torture. Then the Floyd are back with Welcome to the Machine. This is synth driven and not too bad although the singing is woeful. OK loads of people have used analogue synths better since and at the time were doing so in Germany and Italy. Here the synth notes are harsh discordant. That’s a common theme across the three Floyd lps - the production is amateur. Have a Cigar is bland. Wish You Were Here. Wish I wasn’t. Then the Shinny Diamond song is back for another 15 months of noodling. Were they so bereft of ideas that this throwaway half song is stretched out to nearly half an hour? Had the Beatles written this it would have taken up a minute on the second side Abbey Road. 1.25 stars. The .25 is for the synths.

Not for me

Would it were shorter…not the worst of the one stars thus far…Tom.

Thank god I was only subjected to 40 minutes this round. I HATE you PF

I don't own a black light poster and I don't like Pink Floyd.

I just cannot swallow this attempt at emotion, it rings so hollow and trite to me.

i hate pink floyd, pretentious dinosaur rock

Meh, I'm not super hot for Pink Floyd

Pink Flloyd again... No.

One of the most pretentious pieces of music ever

Pink Floyd is lame.

No idea how this made the list some of the most bland dull music ever made.

Just not my thing

Having now listened to this and the wall i assume they felt one decent track was sufficient to justify an album and then then name it after that song. This album could and should have been a single with s shortened version of track 5 as the b-side. Overblown pretentious crap

Fell asleep until Have a Cigar then went back to sleep after, like other Pink Floyd albums much better

3 minutes of ok music, 40 minutes of synth mats, and boring guitar solos. Will never get Pink floyd.

Wish You Were Here is the only Pink Floyd song I enjoy. This record did not change my feelings on that. I skipped ahead through most of these tracks. Even when I got stoned I hated this.
