Dusty Springfield
2/5
Preachers son... classic! Talented artist, but not for me.
Violent Femmes
3/5
Started off strong with blister in the sun. Great first song! Overall, it was fine.
Bobby Womack
3/5
Fun album, I was hoping I would recognize more songs. Overall, it was good.
U2
2/5
One of the most overrated bands. I didn't hate the album, but I sure didn't enjoy it.
Johnny Cash
4/5
I didn't know about this one. I know the classic Johnny Cash songs, but had never listened to an album from start to finish. Really liked it! I enjoyed how it was a live album where he made mistakes, he cracked up, he had conversations with the audience. Great album. Will listen again for sure.
Kanye West
1/5
What kind of trash is this? So long and so bad. Can I get my time back?
Primal Scream
2/5
Enjoyed first couple of songs. Then don't fight it, feel it happened. What an awful song.
Higher than the sun was good.
Inner flight was a bit boring, but made me think of a song that would play in a video game. Nice background music.
Come together was catchy, but probably 5 minutes too long.
Loaded was kind of funny? Definitely 5-6 minutes too long.
Damaged came out of nowhere. Was unlike most other songs. Very early 90s.
I'm coming down was 6 minutes that could have been 30 seconds with the same result. This last line sums up the last three songs.
Overall, didn't hate it. Not for me though.
The Jesus And Mary Chain
3/5
Very 90s. Not great, but not horrible! Won't listen again though.
I'm like the clock on the wall.
Cornershop
3/5
Everybody needs a bosom for a pillow.
I enjoyed this one! Shocked I knew a song. Catchy music, that I would put on again.
I liked their version of Norwegian wood too! It was different, but well done.
I also listened to the extended songs. All so different from the originals, but enjoyable!
Overall, I really liked this album!
Iron Maiden
5/5
Bunch of awful albums in a row to lead up to this gem.
This was one I knew from high school, but it was nice to revisit it.
First listen I thought children of the damned and the prisoner were OK songs, kind of a break from great songs. But as I kept listening, I realized how wrong I was. This is a great album from start to finish.
Beck
4/5
Big fan of this album.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
4/5
The first listen, I wasnt impressed at first. But then once I got to the second half I really liked what I heard.
On the second listen, I enjoyed it a lot more. What a solid album!
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Huge fan of the first half of the album. So many hits! Great songs.
Second half... Definitely lost me a little with the deep tracks.
If the album had ended at kashmir, would have been much better!
Because of the second half, I'd rate it 3.5 if I could do half stars, but I can't so I'll round up.
Kraftwerk
2/5
By the sounds of it, this album will get a lot of hate.
I didn't hate it. I will never listen again, but it was good background music while working.
I'd give it 2.5 of I could. Rounding down.
Sisters Of Mercy
3/5
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Lucratia was a great song!
AC/DC
3/5
This album has all of their hits. I had never listened to an AC/DC album from start to finish, and I didn't hate it.
I'm definitely not a fan of the band, and I will continue to change the station when they come on the radio. But not the worst.
Cat Stevens
4/5
Such a solid album. Really enjoyed getting back to this one. Great songs from start to finish.
Ryan Adams
1/5
After the first few songs, I would have given it a 2.5/5 (but I would have rounded up to 3). As the album progressed that rating slowly went down.
Shakedown on 9th street was pretty good.
Overall, just a big nope from me.
A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
I really enjoyed this one! Fun lyrics, classic 90s rap.
I wish 'can I kick it' was on this album!
I will definitely listen to this album again, and have added some of the songs to my regular Playlists.
The Clash
2/5
Meh. Didn't hate it, but didn't overly enjoy it. Big meh.
Gorillaz
4/5
Overall, I enjoyed this album. Some songs lost my attention, but for the most part it was really good!
The Specials
4/5
That was a fun album! I had never heard of them before this, and I really enjoyed listening to this album.
Brian Eno
3/5
I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. Nice background music to work. I didn't even notice but the album had finished and new ambient music started. I'll listen again while working.
k.d. lang
2/5
Great voice. A bit too much farm emo for my liking.
Dr. John
2/5
Not for me.
The Chemical Brothers
1/5
Nope.
Shuggie Otis
4/5
Huge fan of this album. I started listening to it on the train, and unfortunately fell asleep. Not because I wasn't enjoying it, but because I was dead tired. Round 2: unreal.
I really enjoyed the last 7 songs. So good.
a-ha
3/5
Overall, I likes it. I thought it would go downhill after take on me, and it certainly did, but not as bad as I expected.
I was surprised to recognize a song from the 90s, the sun always shines on TV!
Overall, I would have given it a 2.5 if I could. I'll round up because I did enjoy it.
Kendrick Lamar
5/5
Where's my damn dominoes!?
Big fan of Kendrick. I only knew a few songs from this album, and enjoyed listening from start to finish.
R.E.M.
4/5
Can confirm, the first song was not the finest worksong.
I like this album! Many of the songs remind me of the tragically hip.
Gene Clark
4/5
I wasn't aware that he had solo stuff. I liked it!
Jefferson Airplane
4/5
Stan Getz
4/5
I really enjoyed this album! Reminded me of mcnally Robinsons.
Skepta
3/5
It was all right. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either.
2.5 rounded up
Duran Duran
3/5
Rio and hungry like the wolf are amazing songs. The rest of the album... kinda lost me.
Eels
4/5
I liked this album overall. Very 90s, but some of the songs I added to playlists.
Lynyrd Skynyrd
4/5
Simple man is absolutely my favourite song by them. This is a great album. None of this sweet home Alabama trash.
Fiona Apple
3/5
She has an amazing voice. I likes this album.
Klaxons
4/5
I had never heard of these guys. Enjoyed this album from start to finish.
The Dictators
3/5
Handsome dick manitoba!
I ended up liking this one. Never heard of these guys though.
Isaac Hayes
4/5
Besides the first 9 minutes of the last song, I really liked this one. Go chef! Shaft!
Judas Priest
3/5
I liked the album more than I thought I would. Unfortunately, the singers voice got to me over time.
Two awful songs, united and red, white and blue. I guess red white and blue isn't technically on this album, so that's a positive.
Run-D.M.C.
4/5
So good!
Deep Purple
4/5
Not so into the long drum solos, but it was still a great listen. Enjoyed the extended edition too.
Beatles
5/5
So good!
Madonna
2/5
Album took a massive nose dive after like a prayer. Such a good song, and the rest if the album is... trash.
Nah, not for me.
Pink Floyd
5/5
Suuuuch a good album. When shine in you crazy diamond is the worst song on an album, you've made an amazing album!
The Monks
3/5
This album ranged from songs I enjoyed, to songs that annoyed the hell out of me.
I liked Monk time, thought it was a good start to the album.
Shut Up was a bit of both - annoying but also catchy.
Boys are Boys and Girls are Choice is a great song. It's a classic.
Higgle-Dy - Piggle-Dy - catchy instrumental.
I hate you - annoying.
Oh, How To Do Now - super annoying.
Complications and We Do Wie Du - Annoying
Drunken Maria - kinda catchy.
Love Came Tumblin Down - I liked it.
Blast off and That's my Girl - Very annoying.
I would have given it a 2.5 if I could have. I'll round up to 3 I guess.
The Roots
4/5
Solid album! I had never heard of them before, and added some of the songs to playlists. The seed (2.0) is a great song!
Milton Nascimento
3/5
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would!
Sarah Vaughan
4/5
Really enjoyed this one! Great voice. Reminded me of music they play at mcnally Robinson. An album I'll go back to for sure.
TV On The Radio
4/5
Really into TV on the Radio. Great album, and happy I listened to it - since I had never heard this one from start to finish.
Some songs they kind of lost me. Also, Non-Musical Silence... why was it 4 minutes long?! The songs after that weren't that great - I feel like they should have ended the album at Lover's Day.
Still, a great album overall!
Nas
4/5
I really enjoyed this one! I had never heard anything by Nas, and this was probably a good introduction.
Wild Beasts
4/5
I did like All the King's Men. Seems like I just didn't like hooting and howling and when I'm sleeping. The rest I didn't mind on the second playthrough.
The singers voice is kind of annoying. But at times, the band reminded me of Arcade Fire.
This is a booty call; my boot up your arse hole.
This is a Freudian slip; my slipper in your bits.
The Who
4/5
Such a good album! One of the earlier ones I have on vinyl. So good!
Supertramp
5/5
Such a great album! Two in a row that I have on vinyl. This one is just perfect from start to finish. All great songs, no filler.
Harry Nilsson
3/5
ABBA
3/5
They gave us an ABBA album with none of the hits. It was better than I was expecting. This concerns me that we may see another ABBA album though...
Prince
2/5
Oof. I was excited when I saw it was a Prince album. Oof. After the first two songs it went downhill incredibly fast. What awful songs. And so damn long too.
David Bowie
3/5
I was skeptical when it came to a new David Bowie album. It was actually pretty good!
Elton John
4/5
It was longer than necessary. It kind of lost me around Jamaica jerk off for 6 or 7 songs until Saturday nights all right. Good album though!
If I could do half stars, I would say 3.5. I'll round up.
Wilco
3/5
I knew a couple songs on this album. That was enough to give it a good rating. Outside of those two songs... meh. Big meh. I'd give it a 2.5 if I could.
Primal Scream
3/5
Another Primal Scream album... doesn't seem like they deserve 2 albums in the top 1,001, but maybe that's just me.
I did enjoy some of the songs. Trainspotting was a good one! On the second playthrough, I did enjoy this album a lot more.
It was OK. Very 90's.
Solid 3.
Kid Rock
3/5
OK, so I used to think that kid rock was white trash. I still kind of do, but I didn't hate it. Though I won't listen again. A solid 2.5 round up.
The Specials
3/5
I can't say I was expecting another album by The Specials. Wasn't bad, I can dig it. Not as good as the first one, but had lots of catchy tunes.
3/5
Adele
4/5
I had never listened to an Adele album from start to finish. Obviously, a very talented singer. I thought it was good! Enjoyed it a lot more than I expected.
The Beach Boys
3/5
I was excited about this one. Outside of wouldn't it be nice, sloop john B, and God only know, this was a very meh album.
Abdullah Ibrahim
4/5
I had no idea what to expect with this one. Was in the mood for some cool jazz on a Tuesday.
Al Green
3/5
I had heard of a few of these songs. Pretty good!
Charles Mingus
3/5
It's kinda like something they would play at a house of burlesque. I did enjoy it, though!
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
3/5
I only knew one song on the album. But maybe that was a good thing. I liked it!
Pixies
3/5
Considering it had none of their big songs on it... not bad!
Erykah Badu
3/5
Not bad!
Marianne Faithfull
2/5
I had never heard of Marianne faithful before. Poor man's Stevie nicks. Big meh from me.
Sly & The Family Stone
2/5
I didn't realize that this was a real band. Had never heard anything by them. Big meh.
Bob Dylan
4/5
I had never heard a Bob Dylan album from start to finish. I really enjoyed it!
Ray Charles
3/5
Not bad. Not a 4, but definitely a solid 3.
Aerosmith
2/5
I do not like Aerosmith. This album was meh.
John Lennon
3/5
John Lennon is great. And the majority of this album is great. Not a fan of don't wanna be a soldier, how do you sleep and oh yoko... those really dragged the album down.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
5/5
This album... unreal! So good from start to finish.
The Jam
3/5
Never heard of them before. Not awful.
Cream
3/5
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
3/5
Great background music.
Le Tigre
3/5
I liked it! I'm torn though. Was it a 3? Was it a 3.5? I'd say 3.5, round down. Tough call. Fun album.
T. Rex
3/5
Better than I was expecting!
Pixies
4/5
So good!
The Notorious B.I.G.
4/5
The Rolling Stones
2/5
The rolling stones suck.
Now that that's done, this album wasn't great. I didn't realize that they did a version of "Stop Breaking Down." So did the White stripes, and their version is better.
Just meh. 1.5 - I'll round up to 2.
Sonic Youth
3/5
Never heard this album before, but knew the cover. Pretty good! Reminded me a lot like the pixies.
808 State
3/5
Not terrible. Decent background music. Not good for much else.
Hugh Masekela
4/5
This is exactly what I needed today. Super into this album.
Oasis
3/5
Hate the singers voice. Album is all right though.
Pixies
3/5
Another pixies album! Didn't like it quite as much as the last one, but still good.

I enjoyed that one.
Bob Marley & The Wailers
3/5

Nick Drake
3/5
William Orbit
4/5
Very into this one. Great background music during work.
Can
1/5
What the hell was that?
The Who
3/5
I like the who. This album, besides my generation and the kids are alright, was very... generic? I'd give the entire album a 2.5, and rounding up.
Parliament
4/5
Into it. What a fun album. A bit short, but really good!
Public Enemy
3/5
Mylo
3/5
Linkin Park
4/5
Not a 5 star album. But close. Has a lot or nostalgia to angsty 13 year old James.
Lauryn Hill
2/5
Meh. Other than 'that thing' this album is completely forgettable.
Dire Straits
4/5
Very good album. Lost be a bit at the end, but that wasn't enough to take it down too much. I'd say 3.5 round up to 4.
Sultans of swing is an unreal song. Mark Knopfler is such a great guitarist!
Ice Cube
4/5
Louis Prima
3/5
Ok. I was more into it than I expected
Queen
5/5
The best album doesn't exi... fuck. Here it is. This album is so good.
Embarrassing I don't have this vinyl.
Bit I know every word of every song. This is the best album.
Funkadelic
3/5
The Band
3/5
Astrud Gilberto
3/5
Black Sabbath
4/5
I never knew how much I enjoyed black sabbath before this!
Queen
4/5
Not a night at the opera... but it was great!
Solomon Burke
3/5
Metallica
3/5
14 year old James would have loved this album. 33 year old James... meh. The last half was pretty bad.
Bob Dylan
3/5
I like Bob Dylan, but his albums get a bit old partway through.
Mudhoney
3/5
Not bad.
Eurythmics
2/5
Sweet dreams made it a 1.5. Otherwise. Woof.
Kraftwerk
3/5
I was somewhat into this one.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
1/5
Let the bells ring is OK. Otherwise... not for me.
Big Black
2/5
Bit annoying it wasn't on Spotify... it was on YouTube so at least I could listen. Not for me, it was a bit... raw?
Brian Eno
2/5
Not the Brian eno that I was expecting from the last one. Not bad, but not great.
Britney Spears
3/5
Full disclosure: not the kind of music I generally listen to.
That aside, obviously the hits are good - but the album goes downhill pretty quickly after soda pop.
Beatles
5/5
So good!
Paul Simon
3/5
Paul Simon is pretty good. Just gets a bit old after 5 or 6 songs.
Marty Robbins
3/5
Classic Farm Emo™ band.
Knew Big Iron from Fallout NV! And El Paso! Classic song about tacos.
Otherwise, a lot of the same. Didn't love it, but didn't hate.
Kanye West
2/5
Someone needs to tell him that 300 wasn't the Romans...
I didn't dislike this as much as the last one. But meh overall. Plus he's just so angry all the time!
There were some catchy tunes on this one though. So I would say 2 - 2.5. I'll stick with 2 because fuck Kanye.
Red Snapper
3/5
I had never heard of this group.
It ranged from nice background music to extremely annoying background music. Overall, it was fine.
George Harrison
4/5
I only knew two songs going in. Such a great album though! Worth listening to the entire two hours.
Bruce Springsteen
2/5
I'm interested to hear everyone else's reviews. Do people actually like Bruce Springsteen? I mean outside of New Jersey. They seem to love him there. Everywhere else he just seems to be enjoyed ironically? I don't know. I don't get it.
Dislike his voice. Don't care for his music, overall.
Elvis Costello
2/5
I want to like Elvis Costello.... I just can't. It's not great.
Madonna
3/5
Actually not bad. Probably because I remember many of these songs from the radio - Ray of Light, Nothing Really Matters, and Frozen specifically.
Much better than the previous Madonna album! Maybe a few tracks too long.
The Jam
3/5
This is a new band for me. I enjoyed the bass!
3/5
Had never heard of PJ Harvey before this. Decent album. Including Thom Yorke in a couple songs was pretty great.
Overall, not really my kind of music. But not bad.
Fleet Foxes
4/5
I got into this album and fleet foxes because I got one of those free cards at Starbucks with a song on it. The song was Mykonos - which was only on their single, unfortunately.
I'm not very familiar with anything they did after this album. So I have some catching up to do with their newer stuff.
This album is so good! I do think that the album falls off a bit with Meadowlarks and Oliver James, which are OK - but the rest of the album is great! Love the artwork too!
Nick Drake
3/5
CHIC
3/5
Faust
3/5
When I first saw this was the album of the day I thought it was Feist. VERY different from what I was expecting when I started listening.
Album was all over the place. Overall, I enjoyed it!
Jurassic 5
3/5
Siouxsie And The Banshees
2/5
Decent. Not my favourite, but not terrible.
John Prine
1/5
The first two songs were king of funny, seemed to not be too serious on the country side. Then it went downhill and got pretty bad.
From his voice, he reminded me of Bob Dylan. But otherwise, way too country for my liking.
Morrissey
2/5
This album wasn't terrible. Just lots of the same...
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
4/5
This is a great album! Its unfortunate that many of the songs aren't available on spotify (likely Neil Young's songs). Which is too bad, Woodstock is definitely one of the best songs on the album. I was able to find them on YouTube though.
The Go-Go's
3/5
This is a fun album. I was surprised I knew more songs than We Got the Beat (from Rock bank). Good album, overall!
Willie Nelson
3/5
Not my favourite kind of music. Overall, not bad. Nice and short too.
New York Dolls
3/5
Not really music I would listen to regularly. I enjoyed the album thought!
Arctic Monkeys
4/5
Love this album!
David Bowie
3/5
I like David Bowie... but this album is all over the place. Maybe a bit too eccentric for my liking, overall.
Obviously Heroes is a great song though! I guess I'm a bigger fan of David Bowie's hits and not his full albums.
Sister Sledge
3/5
The War On Drugs
4/5
Great album. I knew the first couple songs, which are awesome. The album goes down slightly after that, but us fairly consistent.
Talking Heads
3/5
Voice kind of got annoying. Not bad overall though.

2/5
Not really my kind of music. Not bad overall, and some catchy songs too!

3/5
Interesting album. Kind of all over the place, but overall pretty good!

3/5
Not as good as the other sabbath albums. Still good though.
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Good album. Better songs at the end.
Fiona Apple
2/5
The piano was neat in the first few songs. Not enough to redeem the album. Too much of the same? Lyrically, meh.
The Thrills
3/5
The Divine Comedy
3/5
Garbage
3/5
Grungey weekend
The Band
3/5
I enjoyed this album! Not so much of the annoying guys voice.

A bit too preachy... heh heh.
But actually, I enjoyed this album. Great instrumentals. Good album, overall.
Portishead
3/5
I liked it! Nice background music.
Donovan
3/5
I enjoyed this album up to Season of the Witch - everything after that wasn't great.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
4/5
Love CCR! Great album from start to finish.
Beck
3/5
Mostly great songs! Novacane is by far the worst on the album, but otherwise enjoyed this one.
Dexys Midnight Runners
4/5
Such a fun album! Come on Eileen is obviously a classic, but the rest of the songs were enjoyable.
I assumed they would be a one hit wonder band and the rest wouldn't be worth listening to... I'm happy that I was wrong!
Liz Phair
3/5
Ray Charles
3/5
I like Ray Charles but... over an hour of ray Charles is way too much ray Charles.
The Flaming Lips

Really enjoyed this album. Perfect for a snowy day in Winnipeg.
David Bowie
3/5
Not terrible.
The Dave Brubeck Quartet
4/5
Very into this album. Damn. That was good.
The National
3/5
Lots of the same. But not bad, overall.
Sonic Youth
2/5
Like the pixies? But bad. Not into this one.
Thelonious Monk
4/5
GZA
4/5
Really enjoyed this one!
The Killers
3/5
Brian Eno
3/5
It's a lot of Brian Eno. But it is good background music.
Electric Light Orchestra
3/5
ELO is good! Kind of a long album, but enjoyable overall!
Paul Simon
4/5
This album is great!
Cyndi Lauper
3/5
OK overall. Time after time and girls just want to have fun are classics. The rest are very 80s.
Belle & Sebastian
3/5
I didn't really like the first few songs, but it picked up after She's Losing it, and by Electronic Renaissance I was into it!
Elton John
4/5
John Lee Hooker
4/5
Just what I was feeling today! Really enjoyed this album.
Dusty Springfield
2/5
Not my kind of music. Not terrible? But nah.
R.E.M.

The White Stripes
5/5
This is the album that got me into the White Stripes originally. Still love listening to it from start to finish.
It's a great album - very different from their blues-rock prior albums, and starts their transition to being a rock band with this garage rock style album. So good! From start to finish, I can't get enough of this album.
David Bowie
3/5
Definitely solid first 5 or so songs, then it went downhill with some of the deep cuts. Overall, not bad. 3.5 for sure.
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
3/5
Pretty solid. Second song was meh, otherwise good!
The Boo Radleys
2/5
Kind of long, but some good tracks early on.
Bad Brains
3/5
LCD Soundsystem
3/5
Pretty catchy - good background music.
At times sounded a bit like The Killers.
No complaints on this one, nothing too special, but a solid 3/5.
Sinead O'Connor
2/5
Very 90's. Fairly meh - Nothing Compares 2 U is a popular song that was recognizable, but otherwise, not much going on here.
Fugazi
3/5
Started out unsure with this one, but enjoyed it more and more as it went on. Solid album, overall!
Pavement
2/5
I'm not sure if this band is considered influential, and that's why they were included? The sound is very raw, like nobody involved knew how to mix tracks and clean things up.
Maybe they're influential? But it wasn't for me. I'll be nice and give it a 2, but I would say 1.5 at best.
Woof.
Todd Rundgren
3/5
Bit on the long side, with some duds in the middle. Hello it's me is great, and the first 6 ish songs are too.
The Mamas & The Papas
4/5
Solid album, really enjoyed listening to this one. I'll go 4 on this one - some big hits, but it was all enjoyable.
Talking Heads
2/5
Psycho Killer is great. The rest of the album is all kind of... the same? So I will give this one a 2.5 and round down.
Elvis Presley
4/5
Short and sweet. Even though I didn't know many of these songs, they were actually quite good! I probably would have hated it if it was any longer of an album as it might get old.
Solid album, I'll say 3.5 - round up.
Def Leppard
3/5
Historically, was never a big fan of Def Leppard. Actually enjoyed this album more than I thought I would! Solid 3.
The United States Of America
3/5

I'll give it a 2.5 - round up to 3.
Ali Farka Touré
3/5

Solid!
The Sugarcubes
3/5
Bjork, neat! They were pretty good. I'd say 2.5, round up.

Einstürzende Neubauten
1/5
What the hell was that
Bob Dylan
3/5
I was concerned when it was a Bob Dylan album from 1997.
It was actually OK- Highlands was an awful song though, and just never ended. Just 16.5 minutes of nothing.
I'll give it a 2.5 and round up.
Can
3/5
I was very surprised to see this band with another album on this list. Despite that, I liked this one a lot better than the last! Decent background music, nothing too crazy.
2.5 - round up.
Van Morrison
2/5
Its decent background music... but every Van Morrison song sounds the same. Because of that, I'll give it a 2 - because I enjoyed it, but every song sounds exactly like "Into the Mystic"
Death In Vegas
4/5
Had never heard of these guys - really enjoyed this album. Great background music too.
Solid. I'll say 3.5 -round up to 4.
Common
3/5

Pink Floyd
5/5
Roger Waters at his best! This album is amazing from start to finish.
5 - no question in my mind.
Echo And The Bunnymen
2/5
Not terrible - not great though. Should it be in the top 1001? Maybe? Tough call.
I'll say 2.5 - round down.

4/5
TIL that Booker T and the MGs have more than one song...
Actually, a pretty solid album for background music. Catchy songs, some covers.
Solid 4.
Taylor Swift
3/5
It's not really my kind of music. But, she has a nice voice, and overall it was good. I will never listen to it again, and that is OK - I still enjoyed it.
Solid 3.
Jorge Ben Jor
3/5
50 Cent
3/5
I knew the hits, and there were some pretty big ones on this album. Even the songs I didn't know were pretty good.
Solid 3.
4/5
Classic Yes... really long songs! Great bass, drums and guitar! Singer gets a bit old, but it's still good.
3.5 I will round up.
Incredible Bongo Band
5/5
I've gone 35.5 years without knowing this group existed. This album was amazing! I was worried when I saw it was bongo music and over an hour long... but not once I started listening!
Unreal. Absolute 5. I could listen to that all day.
TV On The Radio
3/5
I really like TV on the Radio, and also big fan of Tunde Adebimpe.
This is their first album, and I wasn't as big of a fan of this one as I was every single other album of theirs. Not sure how I had never listened to this one, despite enjoying all of their other albums... that makes no sense.
Solid 3.
Deep Purple
4/5
Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
3/5
Catchy music, not generally for me but enjoyable!
Solid 3.
George Michael
2/5

Good ol' blue eyes.
Catchy, and short. I enjoyed it.
3/5
The Rolling Stones
3/5
I don't generally like the rolling stones - but this was pretty solid. From start to finish, all pretty catchy music - a bit raw - which makes sense since it was their debut album. Enjoyable overall.
I'll say 2.5, round up to 3. I really wish there were half stars....
Tricky
2/5
OK. Not really my kind of music - but not bad. Pretty decent background music.
I'd say 2.5, I will round down.
Merle Haggard
1/5
How did this make the list? Huge nope from me. I'd give it a 0 or 0.25 if I could.
The Triffids
1/5
Yeesh, using this analogy twice in a day - about as interesting as a white bread sandwich with no toppings and its crusts cut off. Nearly two hours of this!? Come on.
Aimee Mann
3/5
Very 90's - and fairly generic. But she has a nice voice, and I didn't dislike listening at any point.
I will say 2.5 - round up to 3.
Leonard Cohen
3/5
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Billy Bragg
3/5
Ended up really enjoying this one, despite the folky-ness of it. Definitely will listen again!
Solid 3.5 - will round down.
Jimi Hendrix
4/5
So good! Great album from start to finish - solid 4.
Tom Waits
2/5
Not sure how I feel about this one. I still don't like his voice and many of these songs sound like they belong as the soundtrack for a weird Tim Burton movie.
2. And I feel like that's being generous.
Mercury Rev
3/5
Overall it was OK - but after Goddess on the Hiway I thought it got really good! The last 4 songs were great.
Overall - maybe a 3, wish it had more of the final few songs!
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
Christina Aguilera
3/5
Not really my kind of music. Also a verrry long album.
That being said, obviously a very talented singer - her range is pretty crazy. That alone makes it at least a 3-3.5.
Sex Pistols
3/5
Nit bad, but also lots of the same.
Big Brother & The Holding Company
4/5
I never realized Janis was part of a band - I even thought that some of the songs on this album were her solo stuff. Pretty solid album, overall! Great singer, and really good backup band.
Definitely a 3.5 - round up.
Wire
3/5
Pere Ubu
1/5
What the hell was that.

4/5
Solid. Enjoyed this one. Now I need to watch the movie.
The La's
3/5
John Coltrane
5/5
Huge fan of this album! Solid from start to finish. Only complaint is that the album was too short! I would have enjoyed more of that.
The Good, The Bad & The Queen
4/5
I had never heard of this group. Pretty good! Enjoyed that one from start to finish.
Solid 3.5, will round up.
Elastica
2/5
Pretty generic 90's music... not horrible, but a lot of the same.

Miles Davis
3/5
Short album, kind of boring though. 2.5
Bob Marley & The Wailers
2/5
All his songs kinda sound the same. Two albums on this list!?
Aerosmith
3/5
I was concerned - Back in the Saddle and Last Child are decent songs, then I hadn't heard of any of the other songs. Altogether, a pretty solid album. I don't really like Aerosmith, but this one was worth listening to.
3/5
American Music Club
3/5
Shack
2/5
Roni Size
4/5
Ended up enjoying this one. Nice background music - upbeat.

5/5
This album... UNREAL. First album that got me into Arcade Fire - saw them live getting asked last second to take a ticket to their show on this tour.
Such a great album!
Hookworms
4/5
I had never heard of this band. I enjoyed the album! Great length - I think any longer and it might have gotten boring.
Solid album, I'd say 3.5 - rounding up.
Sigur Rós
4/5
The Verve
3/5
The classics are great! Bittersweet symphony, lucky man. But they also kinda just sound like Oasis with a touch of 90s Radiohead.
I'll go with a 2.5 and round up for the hits.
Crosby, Stills & Nash
5/5
So many good songs on this album! Judy Blue Eyes, Marrakesh Express, Guinnevere, Wooden Ships, Helplessly Hoping, Long Time Gone, Everybody's Talkin, and Teach Your Children! So good!
OutKast
3/5
There are some of their huge songs in this album.... but also a lot of filler. A 1 hour 13 minute album that probably should have been cut down to maybe 30-40 minutes.
That being said, the hits are great. I'd say maybe a 3.
Otis Redding
4/5
Solid.
Brian Wilson
4/5
It was quite a bit better than I was expecting. RIP!
Moby Grape
3/5
Pretty generic 60's kind of music. Decent guitar, but overall generic... not sure why it would be on this list.
Barry Adamson
4/5

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
3/5
Second album by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds... not sure how I feel about this one. It was OK. Kinda weird.

Beatles
5/5
Unreal.
Dolly Parton
2/5
Not for me.
Ray Price
2/5
Not a big fan of the honky tonk (-3), or this weird cuck situation on the album cover (-2).
Willie Nelson is pretty cool (+1), Hank Hill likes Willie (so +0.5), and the album is short (+0.5, because why not).
So let's go with 2.
The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
4/5
This was a new group for me. I really enjoyed this album, even if it was a bit long.
Solid 4.
Napalm Death
1/5
...What the hell was that?
No. Just no. How the hell did this album get into the list of 1,001 albums you must listen to before you die?! Pretty talented musicians I guess... then the singer just starts spouting gibberish.
No. Absolutely not. I'd give it a 0 if I could, so I guess it's getting a 1. Thankfully it was a very short album.
Screaming Trees
4/5

Solid 3.5 - I will round up.
Van Morrison
4/5
So good!
Bonnie "Prince" Billy
3/5
Decent album. Good background music, but nothing special. I'm not sure what sets it apart and puts it on the list of 1,001 albums I need to listen to before I die though. Some good songs in here - and a fairly short album. Shame it wasn't available on Spotify - I would listen to some of the songs more if it was.
With all that, I would say 3.
Happy Mondays
2/5
Neat album cover. They were OK otherwise. Seems like nothing special.
2.5, I will round down.
Dinosaur Jr.
3/5
It was an interesting album. Some good songs on there.
I'd say 2.5 - I will round up.

Bonnie Raitt
2/5
Iron Butterfly
3/5
"Wait a minute, this sounds like rock and/or roll"
Pretty decent album. First half was OK - some pretty interesting stuff, and some meh. In-a-gadda-da-vida though... hell yea - so good.
Solid 3.5 - I will round down to a 3.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
2/5
I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It was different from their other albums - all piano. But still weird like the others.
There have been three of their albums on this list so far... this makes 4. That seems crazy to me. They're OK - but 4/1,001 albums seems like a stretch.
I'll say 2, because 3 feels too high. So that makes it a 2.5 round down situaish.
Blur
3/5
Blur has an album that is nearly an hour long! They have more songs than Song 2 after all.
But actually, this is a pretty solid album. There is another song I know by them that isn't on this album... Blur had a second album! Who knew.
I'm going with 3.
The Cure
2/5
What an awful album. Not quite a 1, but 2 feels too high. I'll say 1.5 and round up.
Genesis
3/5

I'd say solid 3.

Solid. I'll say 3.
Underworld
3/5
Kinda weird. Decent background music though. So 2.5 but I will round up.

3/5
Simply Red
2/5

Franz Ferdinand
4/5
Unreal album! So good from start to finish.
Bruce Springsteen
1/5
Another Springsteen album? And zero 'hits'!? Woof. Why? No.
I'd go zero if I could - so 1. What a waste of space.
Joan Baez
3/5
She has a great voice. Folk music is a big meh, but it was still a good album despite that.
The Kinks
3/5
Syd Barrett
3/5
Many of the songs sounded a lot like Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Not bad overall.
Really interesting Wiki read - Gilmour and Waters basically forced this album to exist.

The Auteurs
3/5

3/5
This was a new one for me. Really interesting album - decently short.
I'll say 3.5 - not quite a 4, but definitely better than a 3.
Dinosaur Jr.
2/5

I'll say 2.
fIREHOSE
3/5
Pretty decent group, but nothing overly special. 2.5 I will round up.
Cypress Hill
3/5
Solid album. Definitely a 3 in my books.
Come on, people. Somebody ordered the London Symphony Orchestra... possibly while high. Cypress Hill, I'm looking in your direction.
Bee Gees
2/5
Couple decent songs, but mostly a lot of the same - meh. One song with 80 million plays... then a lot of nothing.
I'll give it a 2.
Emmylou Harris
1/5
She has a nice voice, but it's still farm emo and I don't like it.
The Youngbloods
4/5
Had never heard of these guys... solid album! Listened a couple times, and really enjoyed it, overall.
Solid 4. Really was into the instrumentals!
Robert Wyatt

3/5

Solid 3.
Stephen Stills
4/5
This is a really good album! Reading the wiki, it's impressive how many big names were part of it.
Definitely a 4. really enjoyed this one.
Django Django
2/5
It was... interesting. Not my favourite, and a lot of the same. Given that, I will say maybe a 2 - 2.5 - I will call it a 2.
Girls Against Boys
2/5
They are OK - but odd at times. I'd say iffy if they should be on this list - they don't really seem like anything special.
I'll say 2/5.
Scott Walker
2/5
That was OK I guess - not sure if he's trying to be Frank Sinatra, but he does a decent job of it.
I'll say 2.5 - round down.

2/5
Sledgehammer is a good song... the rest of the album is a bunch of filler. "So mid" as the kids say.
Maybe a 1.5? I'll round up, I guess.
Leonard Cohen
4/5
Hell yea.
Amy Winehouse
4/5
Generally, not my kind of music. That being said, she has an amazing voice, and some of these songs were huge when they came out. Completely makes sense that this album is on the list.
Solid 4.
The Yardbirds
4/5
The Yardbirds are so good! And this album is no different. Solid from start to finish.
Randy Newman
3/5
I was expecting a lot of "You've got a friend in me" - but that was not the case. Pretty solid album!
Gets a 3 in my books!
The Smashing Pumpkins
2/5
Such an overrated band. The voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Not a fan, despite them having a few OK songs. Those will raise it to a 2.
The Crusaders
4/5
Solid
Robert Wyatt
2/5
Corey's favourite - an Avant Garde album!

I'd say 3.5 - will round up.
Dion
2/5
"Make a woman love me" has a very different meaning these days...
There were some OK songs - but for the most part this was trying to be Paul Simon with a mesh of Paul McCartney. Maybe he wishes his name was Paul?
I'll give it a 1.5 and round up because it's not horrible like a 1. But I don't understand how it made this list.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
4/5
Hell yea. Thats a fun album.

Solid 3.
R.E.M.

4/5
Justin Timberlake
2/5
Maybe a couple songs that were hits, but seemed to be a lot of filler for an album that was over an hour long.
Because of this, I will say 2.5 - round down.

4/5
Listened to this one twice, and once on my way home from work. Solid album, some really catchy songs - and great music for working to.

4/5
Solid album. Fun listen.
Definitely a 4.5/5 - round down for crazy Eric Clapton.
The Black Crowes
3/5
The most generic-sounding early 90's rock you can get. Hits on the album for sure, but just so generic sounding. Music you would expect to hear at Home Depot in the early 90's.

The Replacements
3/5
I wasn't sure what to expect from these guys... pretty solid.

Pretty solid! SInger from the Pixies. Enjoyed this one - despite it being really long.
Peter Tosh

I was going to say 2.5, round down. Till your well runs dry is a pretty solid song though - round up for that.
Afrika Bambaataa

This was pretty solid.
The Modern Lovers

Meh.
Sonic Youth
3/5
Sonic Youth are such a weird band. Sometimes they are good, other times they are annoying and awful. They just can't figure out what they want to be.
TLC
2/5
Lots of filler surrounding Waterfall.
Ministry

This album is... a lot. Not horrible? But not great for sure. Maybe a 2.5? Round down?

14 year old James would be very happy.
This album is pretty damn good, and gets one of the most iconic guitar solos to boot.
I'll say 4/5.
Leonard Cohen

Pretty solid album. No hits, but that doesn't matter.
Korn

Pretty long album, but actually pretty solid! I'd say 2.5 round up.
Steely Dan

Bodhisattva! So good. Pretty solid album too.
