Popular Reviews

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones

Album really showcases their breadth of sound. And for me, sympathy for the devil is one of their most conceptually creative songs.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones

The knock against the Stones has always been that they make great hits, but the albums often have fillers. In this album’s case, the only knock has been it didn’t have the hits. The lack of hits is only by Rolling Stones standards. I think Rocks off, Tumbling Dice, Happy, and All down the line, are certified bangers. This is the most complete Stones album and, to me, the standard bearer, for a Rock & Roll album.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Mar 31 2025

This is some of the worst music I’ve ever heard. Yuck. Couldn’t finish it.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Apr 07 2025

Probably a 5 star for me if it was trimmed to single disc. That’s true for most double discs. I can only think of a handful of double discs that hit the whole way through.

The Gilded Palace Of Sin by The Flying Burrito Brothers
Apr 11 2025

Wasn’t familiar with these guys. Enjoyed it very much. Nice little road trip album.

Debut by Björk
Apr 12 2025

I didn’t dislike it, and I thought I might. Influenced some female artists I like.

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Apr 13 2025

Initially I thought to myself, ugh, this is the prototypical sound of the 80’s I hate. But to be fair, I never really gave this sound a through chance. By the third track I found myself appreciating the theatrical feel. While I’d say I’m neutral, at best, on the sound, and lyrically lacking, the story arch of the sound, and the cohesiveness of the album really made this enjoyable for me.

25 by Adele
Apr 15 2025

Great voice. But at some point they all start to sound pretty similar.

The Healer by John Lee Hooker
Apr 20 2025

Good listen. Shined on the tracks without features

Now I Got Worry by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Apr 24 2025

“Wail” is a banger. Also liked “can’t stop”. Everything else was just fine. Didn’t like the overall sound.

Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Apr 25 2025

A little blues, a little Arabic sounds, I like it. Savane is really good.

Hotel California by Eagles
Apr 26 2025

Classic song(s). Sound of an era. But yeah, like my dad said to me growing up, “after 30 years of hearing the same songs every night at work, I’d be fine if I never hear them again.”

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Apr 27 2025

A legend.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
May 05 2025

It’s a classic, and has some forever bangers. But there are better era defining albums from this genre.

1999 by Prince
May 10 2025
Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
May 11 2025
Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
May 15 2025

Some good tracks. Some unpleasant sounds.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
May 16 2025

Just not my thing. It’s not bad, just not for me.

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields
May 19 2025

I made it. It drug on at times, but it wasn’t the slough I thought it would be. Short songs kept me engaged.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
May 20 2025

I dig it. Seasoned voice. Provocative lyrics. Hard to believe any of this came from a 19 year old.

GI by Germs
May 21 2025
Arrival by ABBA
May 22 2025

A little too show choir for me.

21 by Adele
May 27 2025

I think this album is far superior to 25. Vocal range seems larger, and more fresh, raw, emotion. Close to 5 stars.

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Jun 02 2025

Enjoyed it. But it’s No Chopin, so I’m probably not revisiting it.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Jun 05 2025

Album really showcases their breadth of sound. And for me, sympathy for the devil is one of their most conceptually creative songs.

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Jun 06 2025

It’s like Evanesence plus screaming and chanting. Not what I expected. But I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would.

Smokers Delight by Nightmares On Wax
Jun 08 2025

Some good songs. Better for background than intentionally listening.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Jun 11 2025

Great album. Fantastic debut. But I think they’ve got a couple better albums. Similar to the recent stones album, I think they’ve got better, so it’s not perfect for me.

Supa Dupa Fly by Missy Elliott
Jun 12 2025

Solid production. But Missy isn’t for me.

Jun 14 2025

I’ve always thought the first song has a bunch of corny rhymes, but then the album finds its way. Solid debut, but no their best work. Set the stage for many alternative hip-hop artists I love.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jun 17 2025

Having listened almost exclusively to rap from 1995-2010, I feel like I can grasp and analyze hip hop albums more than other genres. And this album is fantastic. Unfortunately for me, this album was released in 2012, outside of the aforementioned hip hop listening window. So this was my first time hearing this album. Clearly, it’s a coming of age story which is nothing new, but the way he weaves the overall narrative in a linear way through the voicemail messages, while weaving in songs that cover both past and present events/mind-state is fantastic. The album tells a story as vivid, and evoking as much emotion, as any movie could. It’s probably 4.5 for me right now, but I know at another point in my life it’s a 5, and probably with a few more listens it’s a 5. So I’ll give it a bump.

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Jun 18 2025

Marlene on the wall had some folksy Taylor Swift going on, but with the production and grand hooks. The rest was boring, simple and annoying.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Jun 23 2025
Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jun 26 2025

Classic

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Jul 05 2025

Pinnacle Dylan. Both lyrically and musically it’s his most diverse and complete. It’s chaotic, but controlled. It’s comedic and tragic. A concept album about emotion rather than a plot. And ties up so perfectly with Sad Eyed lady… And Visions of Johanna is just incredible.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Jul 09 2025

Respect it, but don’t love it.

Stankonia by OutKast
Jul 11 2025

The last third of the album really struggles. Was during a time where everyone felt the need to make 20 track, 80 min hip hop albums. Cut to a normal length this is an outstanding album. For me the though, the high points are really really good.

Foxbase Alpha by Saint Etienne
Jul 13 2025

Fine for one spin. No need to ever come back.

Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson
Jul 14 2025

It may have had its time, but at this point, it just reminds me everything I dislike about late 80s/early 90s top 40 music. Good riddance.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jul 15 2025
Definitely Maybe by Oasis
Jul 16 2025

Egomaniacal rockers. But had a helluva sound.

Jul 19 2025

This was the last album Kanye showed any self awareness. Battling the combination of his ego and the power that comes with fame, it clearly felt like he was on a tipping point. In retrospect, we know he lost that battle. Outstanding album. One the best produced albums I’ve ever heard.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jul 23 2025

The knock against the Stones has always been that they make great hits, but the albums often have fillers. In this album’s case, the only knock has been it didn’t have the hits. The lack of hits is only by Rolling Stones standards. I think Rocks off, Tumbling Dice, Happy, and All down the line, are certified bangers. Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

Just doesn’t do it for me. RIP

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Jul 26 2025

Groundbreaking album. Solidified him as a superstar producer, but introduced the works to his unique flow and, somewhat ironically at this point, his down to earth lyrics that connected with young adults of all races and sexes. As a college dropout in 2004 this one resonated with me and is a bit of a time capsule piece for me.

Coles Corner by Richard Hawley
Jul 28 2025

Going into rotation. Loved it.

Fever Ray by Fever Ray
Jul 30 2025

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Aug 05 2025

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Aug 11 2025

I started to like it the more I listened to it. There’s some good moments. Very catchy and good song composition. Not really anything to come back to for me.

Sep 08 2025

My favorite Stones album. This album represents everything about the band perfectly. Sex, drugs, bravado, vulnerability, stepping to the boundary, then crossing it. All timers and some great deep cuts. This is the Stones. 🤌🏼

Berlin by Lou Reed

Great concept album. Will come back to take a deeper dive.

If I’m being honest, this album, like Snoops’s Doggystyle, falls a bit short of a 5 star, but because it’s undoubtably the best of the genre, I’ll give it the nod.
