It’s no wonder that Stevie Wonder is seen as a master songwriter. Every song here is catchy, well structured and instrumentally sound. There’s a tremendous flavor happening here. One worth your time. It’s a front to back type of album that you’ll want to keep spinning.
It’s Stevie Wonder, which is almost always a good thing (for me) this album is a little boring to me. There weren’t really any standouts for me. I wouldn’t turn it off if someone put it on but I also wouldn’t seek it out. It’s just ok.
Released between two absolute 5 star crackers (Innervisions and Songs in the key of life). First few songs seem light weight sentimental ditties, and it takes a few songs before the funky grooviness starts. Then you realise that they’ve all got under your skin and you’re humming away to some lovely love songs. Subsequent listens double down on all this and before you know it your listening to a classic Stevie album. Just a pity it falls between such giant corkers!

Stevie Wonder is hit or miss for me. Sometimes I really love his music, mostly I don't. This one was mostly a miss for me. You Haven't Done Nothing is fantastic, Boogie On is also really cool, and I want to like 10 Zillion, but I just can't hold on for the whole song. The rest I can toss.
Part of Wonder's "classic period", and all five albums released during that period live up to their reputation. This might be one of the less notable releases of that time, and it still has absolute anthems like "They Won't Go When I Go", and funky little numbers like "It Ain't No Use". Always a fantastic listen.

I feel bad but this just doesn't do it for me. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, just not for me.

Stevie has a great voice but the songs here just don't grab me. I've liked the other 2 albums I've had on this list prior much more. It's not bad though.

1st listen: 1. Smile Please: has some interesting vocal arrangements, but that's about it. 2. Heaven Is 10 Zillion: starts out awesome, but the religious nonsense is really making me hate it. 3. Too Shy to Say: has some emotive vocals, but please don't make me listen again. 4. Boogie On Reggae Woman: thank you. This track is what I'm here for. Killer groove. 5. Creepin': good enough but forgettable. 6. You Haven't Done Nothin': definitely has some "Superstitious" vibes. Not sure which song came first, but this song is another welcome relief on this album. 7. It Ain't No Use: downgrade from the last track, but keeps the vibe going pretty well. 8. They Won't Go: more sappy bullshit. Stevie voice is great, but this is not what I want to hear. 9. Bird of Beauty: better than the last track but still boring and forgettable. 10. Please Don't Go: going out with a whimper. More crap. 2nd listen: 1. Smile Please: grew in me a bit. I could listen to this but won't be requesting it. 6/10 2. I can't deny Stevie Wonder's talent (though this album didn't blow me away too much). He plays almost every instrument on all the songs. His obsessive and driven musical creation process results in great sounding music (but I hear he was hard to work with). He'd work for 12 hours on a song and then call back the studio musician at 2 AM to rework a song. Boogie on Reggie Woman is lovely. As a Phish fan I was so happy to hear the original, what a fun surprise. "You Haven't Done Nothin" is also a great hit piece on Regan.
Compared to the albums around this one in Wonder's discography, quite bland and forgettable. Not awful by any means and a pleasant listen but nothing particularly memorable. 3*
I’ll be honest, I just can’t get in to Stevie Wonder
I prefer Stevie Wonder grooves to ballads so this album isn't up there with the best for me. Still great musically, but slimmer pickings in terms of the music I enjoy the most.
It's not Stevie's greatest album, but it's still amazing. I was hovering over giving it a 4, but They Won't Go When I Go tips this into yet another masterpiece.

Gentle funky stuff from the legend Stevie Wonder. There weren't any tracks that stood out, mind.
I'm finding my enjoyment of Stevie Wonder albums largely depends on the schmaltz-squelch ratio. This one gets off to a bad start: 4 pretty schmaltzy numbers in the first 5. The second half is better, though, with You Haven't Done Nothin' in particular bringing some of that lovely squelchy goodness. They Won't Go When I Go doesn't fit into either category but it is a tune, and a welcome addition to the 'songs that appear on multiple of the 1001 albums' club.

Stevie's 70s organ period was not my favorite… until I listened to this album. Holy crap what an amazing album. I'm perplexed as to how I've never heard it. 4.5 / 5.
There was this pretty long era where it seemed like this material just poured out of Stevie Wonder... All great, unique, the kind of music that makes Soul live up to its rather grandiose name.

4.2 + Part of Stevie Wonder's brilliant run from '72-76. This one's got some amazing jams, notably "Heaven Is..." and "Boogie On..." There are a couple of flatter moments in the middle but Stevie keeps it moving with a bopping energy. All in all, I can enjoy this record as a close listen or playing in the background.
It was pretty good. There were any of Stevie's mega hits and in fact I don't think I was familiar with any of the songs; however, it was still alright.

I didn’t make it all the way through but I really liked what I heard. I’ll come back to it for sure.
It's a definite vibe but none of the tracks really stuck with me. It's just kind of a smear of slightly funky R&B with wild, wonderful vocals liberally slathered on top. It's good, don't get me wrong. But it's not great. I was all set to give this a middling 3-star review until I hit "They Won't Go When I Go" and... well, that's a pretty good track. It's worth a star.

Hmm. Stevie Wonder. I get the appeal but overall, just not my cup of tea. Gave this a listen and pleasant but not something I'd put on randomly. Drumming is on point.
What can you say about Stevie Wonder during this period? He put out masterpiece after masterpiece, and this album is one of them. The way he manages to balance lyrics that delve deep into both emotional and sociopolitical territory while continuing to be a ground-breaking musician is truly outstanding. I didn't like this album as much as Songs in the Key of Life, but you can kinda seem him building to that album here. Just an incredibly solid album filled with great songs, some that you can dance to and some that you can cry to 4/5
Never really listened to Stevie Wonder except his hits that get a lot of radio play. This album was alright but not for me. Definitely not a bad album but it didn't click.
I don't know Stevie Wonder had a so called 'golden period' I just thought he was a genius throughout his life. But Boogie on Reggae Woman is a real and endless genius of a song within a fabulous album

Great funky soul album. What's not to like, it's Stevie Wonder! That being said - This is the third Stevie Wonder album I've got in the generator so far, the first two being Songs In The Key Of Life and Talking Book. Personally I think this sits ahead of Talking Book, but SITKOL still remains my favourite of the three. It does have some great songs though - Boogie On Reggae Woman is very fun and groovy, They Won't Go When I Go is dark and chilling, and You Haven't Done Nothin' is super funky and sounds like a continuation of Superstition. - smile please has a really cool vibe, very relaxed but groovy beat - vocals remind me of someone i cant think of - Heaven is a zillion has the coolest vibe as well - backing vocals are really sick - the coolest gospel music i’ve ever heard - too shy to say isnt really my style but i appreciate the vocals still - lyrics are simplistic but beautiful - boogie on reggae woman wasn’t much of a stand out - creepin very laid back i like it - really simple music but groovy as - completely different as to what i though stevie’s music would be like - you haven’t done nothing is cool, one of my favs ota so far - it ain’t no use takes my number one spot atm sickest vocals and vibe - i feel like it would be samples by like tyler the creator or something or maybe kanye - they won’t go when i go is very good - OH SHIT WAIT ITS RLY ELY GOOD - WOW ITS SO POWERFUL - ok very different vibe then the rest of the album but by far one of the best - bird of beauty is unique in lyrics to the rest of the album, it is a lot less direct speaking more poetic, sven in spanish - the most feel good so far - please don’t go is the perfect wrap up to the album, doesn’t introduce much new but highlights the best qualities of the album - really impressed, didn’t expect how upbeat this album would be, i underestimated stevie’s range. Sick vibe very feel good but also powerful, simple but effective, solid 4/5
79/100: Once music veers into gospel-inspired lyrics in any regard, I usually am immediately turned off. I'm not a religious person, but even for me, the monetization of religion feels observably cheap and makes me incredibly uncomfortable. I understand that in many cultures music exactly like this is incredibly important to religious services, and I'm biased by my own cultural experiences, but as I have said in many of my previous reviews, I do not grade on a curve or in consideration of other people's tastes. With that being said, this is the first album I have listened to that was so good I found myself actually overlooking that offense. I mean, first of all, I'm a sucker for alliteration and this album title is fantastic. Why is it the finale of fulfillingness? That's not even a word is it? More importantly, why is it implied there will be more finales? That seemingly contradicts the definition of the word finale. On top of that, the music itself is also breathtakingly fantastic and fresh. I found myself repeatedly wondering what chord changes Stevie Wonder was passing through in each song, because they all were so unpredictable yet so beautiful.
This album is a bit more sparse and personal than the previous album ’Innervisions.’ That is not to say that it is minimalist by any stretch of the imagination, but there is some restraint in this album’s production. Nevertheless, like much of Stevie Wonder’s 70s output, these songs don’t miss.

Do you ever feel like this album is the B-Sides to Stevie's Seventies hit records? As in Talking Book, Innervisions, and Songs in the Key of Life are all the stronger albums? A feeling that Fulfillingness' First Finale is the weakest of them all? I sometimes get that feeling. Of course, a Stevie B-side of an album is still strong. Lots to love here. I bet someone could flip this analysis on its head and say that this is a stronger record overall despite it not having some of the same "standout" singles as the others. And you know, I'd entertain that theory. I'd listen to that person. They just might have a point. So much so, that I'd look hard into the mirror myself and ask if that person could be me on a different day.
It's all beautiful, but some of it is also just so boring to me :(

The first time I listened to this I was riding in the front passenger seat on a road trip, tripping balls on mushrooms. It is, to date, one of my all-time favorite records.

I think this is an excellent album, just one rung below the brilliant Innervisions. I had never heard Fulfillingness before. I loved it. Lots of great upbeat songs here and some of his most beautiful ballads. 4.5 stars
There's nothing flashy about this album. This is the recording of a guy who sat down and played songs that he wanted to play and wasn't worried about topping the charts or pressure from the record company. A nice listen, but nothing really stood out to me.

La résolution d'un problème est toutefois suivie de l'apparition d'un nouveau puisque tout au long de son CD, la voix de Stevie Wonder sera couverte par un bruit récurrent, "crrrr crrrr" pour ne pas le citer. Eddy Mitchel en est l'auteur. Depuis sa reprise de Superstition, celui-ci n'a de cesse de vouloir reprendre les tubes de son idole malvoyante. Et lorsque la copie conforme dudit morceau retentit, les bruits s'intensifient jusqu'à ce que la peur s'entende dans la voix de Wonder. "Bloquez la porte !" l'entend-on crier à son équipe qui se hâtent alors à l'entrée du studio pour placer une chaise sous la poignée de la porte. Les crissements finiront par s'interrompre, au grand soulagement de notre chanteur autrefois croupissant.
Qu'aurait donné cet album sans l'existence d'Eddie Mitchell? Difficile de le dire. Stevie Wonder semble en effet dérangé tout l'album. En effet, durant sa performance de haute qualité, prennant place dans un studio à l'isolation acoustique parfaite, Eddie Mitchell tentera par tout les moyens de faire intrusion dans l'habitacle, et ce afin de récupérer puis s'approprier les mélodies de Stevie. Fort heureusement, il ne parviendra jamais à rentrer dans le studio, mais de multiples coups de burin peuvent être entendus sur certaines pistes.

Caught between *Innervisions* and *Songs In The Key Of Life*, it's always been hard for this one to have its own little place under the sun. In a way, this is understandable since not all the tracks on it are up to the level generally found in those two legendary albums--the first three songs, especially, rely a little too much on that sort of cheesy schmaltz Stevie Wonder will be associated with during the eighties. It's as if he stepped the wrong foot forward when starting this album, hence my own reluctance to list it in my own *essential* listens. Yet half of those tunes are still worth your time if you enjoy Stevie Wonder's "classic" years. "Boogie On Reggae Woman" slaps quite hard, displaying one of the best synth basslines Wonder ever wrote. "You Haven't Done Nothin'" succesfully continues that streak of songs following the "Superstition" template (after "Higher Ground " in *Innervision* and before "Black Man" in *Songs In The Key Of Life*). The lyrics on this one, denouncing the complacency of elites and governments, haven't aged a day. Unfortunately, I would add... Next highlight is one of the most precious and heartbreaking ballads Wonder has ever penned: "They Won't Go When I Go". Meditations about faith and death have rarely felt this soulful. What ensues after that deeply emotional moment goes to a totally different direction, with the bossa-nova/samba/Brazilian carnival-inspired "Bird Of Beauty". There's a great groove running throughout the track, plus a verse sung in Portuguese--I can swear the temperature in my living room just went a couple of degrees higher when I played that one. And finally, right after "Bird of Beauty", you have closer "Please Don't Go": just like the album itself, the song starts a little meek, but then builds up to a shining conclusion--nothing up to the bar "As" and "Another Star" will raise for the ending of *Songs In The Key Of Life*. But nice stuff nonetheless. Reading myself here, I understand my initial statement of this album as a whole might be a little harsh given the number of gems on it. Who knows, maybe I'll warm up to the other tracks later on? In the meantime... Great, but not at the same peak as the two albums before and the one after. Sombre in places, and need to be in the right mood for it. There are perhaps some similarities to Goats Head Soup in style and stature.

I think this the weakest of the albums from Stevie's "classic period", so it suffers a bit in being compared to them. Compared to most other albums from most other artists, it's outstanding, but compared to his body of work, it's doesn't hit the same highs. For 1001 Albums, I think the average person would understand Stevie Wonder's brilliance with Innervisions and Songs In the Key of Life, so having four albums represented seems like overkill. The big singles both work: Boogie on Reggae Woman is slinky and funky, while You Haven't Done Nothin does have a Superstition vibe to it. Heaven is 10 Zillion Years Away is also a standout. The slower tracks don't have the same immediacy - Creepin isn't bad, but Too Shy to Say is pretty dull excepting the steel guitar from Sneaky Pete Kleinow. Again, I like this album, but it's never going to be my Stevie Wonder album of choice.

Classic Stevie. I was not familiar with this record at all but I like it. It's a little more somber than other Stevie albums I'm used to but it's refreshing in a way. Sometimes you don't feel like bopping along to superstition and this is a good change of pace.
I like the joy and the funky groove. Generally not my style though.

3.5 I’m a Stevie Wonder fan for sure but I’d never heard this one. It does t have any of his super hits but after about the 3rd sing in I was really jamming along to it and can see this being a good deep cut album. But still this and not Songs in the Key of Life or Innervisions?
3 I don't claim to know a ton of Stevie Wonder, but it doesn't feel like I'm listening to the best he has to offer here. Don't get me wrong, it's still an enjoyable album, and when it has its highs they're pretty high, but a lot of it was just pretty decent for me - I feel like I've heard other stuff of his that I've liked a lot more. Other than that, not a ton of thoughts... though the music on Creepin' gave me big old school Nintendo vibes. Like if you took an instrumental version of the track and put it in the background of like Big Boo's Haunt in Super Mario 64 or an Ocarina of Time temple I'm not sure I would even recognize the difference. Fantastic, perhaps perfect. Stevie is such a treasure, I love pretty much all of his work, and this is no exception. Absolutely wonderful
Starts off pretty weak, but gets going a few songs in. It's no Songs in the Key of Life, but what is.
It's a good time, Stevie is out here doing what he does best. He gives you heartfelt songs with a lot of intricate instrumentation and fun experimental fusion of many funky styles. But it's not my favourite of his albums. Boogie On Reggae Woman is a toe-tappin' fave for sure, it's the best track on the album. The album name is a bit stupid though, isn't it? It's clunky on the tongue. What is it even trying to say? It doesn't present to me a cohesive concept or set expectations as perfectly as Songs In the Key of Life of Innervisions do.

Had never listened to a Stevie Wonder album, nothing beyond the hits songs! Big vibes and the album flowed well. I liked the funk moments, like the signature sound stuff, but what impressed me most were the slower jams, stuff I don’t always associate with him. I’d listen again.
😎 I would deal with homophobia to attend the church of Stevie Wonder. This record makes me feel really good. It’s a very welcoming (literally) religious experience, and I think that’s a special thing to pull off considering how divided stuff like that usually makes me feel. Stevie has that sparkle to him - a humble confidence where he doesn’t have to tell you/make you feel bad about how much better he is than you - he just is and you respect it. In short, this was swag 😎

I haven't heard this one but I do like Stevie so happy to check it out. Starts lovely and pretty calm. Gets going with You Haven't Done Nothin', which is the kind of Stevie Wonder I like best. They Won't Go When I Go is quite powerful. Overall a really interesting album with lots to like. Grew on me the more I listened. Initially a 4 but a 5 by the end of the day.

p316, 1974. 3 stars This is going to sound like heresy, but I don't think Steve Wonder is a great album artist. The singles are usually fantastic, and there are always one or two standout tracks, but there is also a lot of filler - and this album is no exception. I appreciate the craftmanship, but not sure I would listen to it again.

I enjoyed this. It was less familiar than other Stevie Wonder albums.
I tend to score Stevie's albums on the strength of the iconic hits with their ground-breaking keyboard licks while holding my nose for the syrupy ballads. In this case "Boogie on Reggae Woman" is great, "You Haven't Done Nothin" borrows heavily from "Superstition" but there are too many over produced ballads.
I always thought Stevie was drunk because of the way he sings /slurs "boogieonreggaaaawuman". Overall this was a fine album, nothing offensive but also not quite the same standard as Innervisions or Songs in the key of life.

In my opinion an okay album. not my favorite Stevie wonder album but has some good songs. best two songs on the album are: 1. boogie on reggae woman 2. you haven't done nothin` With an honorable mention going to heaven is 10 zillion light years away for its great instrumentation, but loses points for song content.
LOVE his voice and the more laid back feel of the song. I also really enjoyed the lyrics of some of these songs, just some of them are a bit too slow / bland for my taste currently. For some reason some of the songs remind me of Christmas songs or just Christmas time. Also of jazz / music you would listen to on a night drive, which is nice, but some of them kind of blend together for me. Some of the longer intros/outros also kind of threw me off because I’m not really used to that. Most of these songs don’t have a lot of replayability individually for me and my taste. The language switch up in Bird of Beauty was cool. There were some nice transitions between the tracks. Yeah there are moments in this album that are super Christmassy to me for some reason, but that’s not a complaint I love Christmas music. Overall I like the instrumental and the overall feel of the album, it was just a bit boring and there were only a few moments in the album / tracks that really stood out.

Jazz people love to say how great Stevie Wonder is at harmonisation and songwriting. Alas, I am not a jazzman, nor – it seems – constitutionally able to get through one of these songs unbored. More like Stevie Natural Occurrence!

Not Stevie's best album
You know, Songs in the Key of Life and Innervisions get more attention than Fulfillingness' First Finale, but this really is a splendid album. It's got everything you love in a Stevie Wonder album. It's warm, soulful, sweet, musically diverse, gorgeously arranged, and technically pretty perfect. It's also so much fun to listen to. This one is going into my regular rotation. I absolutely love it. Compositional greatness unmatched, but the delicate baroque palette means the songs simply don't jam, and that reduces his generational reach, which is when he's at his best. Very pretty though.

Stevie Wonder is truly a smooth soul singer, Fulfillingness' First Finale is a very easy listen, perfect to ease into the day. It is truly hard to believe that this is his 17th(!!!) album as it feels so effortless both musically and lyrically, although not as dance-y or grandiose as I might have assumed, the subdued nature allowed me to feel the groove of it and had to stop myself from dancing at my desk. His signature harmonicas throughout remind you that you're listening to Stevie (if you needed the reminder). Best: Smile Please Worst: It Ain't No Use
This is our fourth Stevie Wonder album and I've been pretty mixed on the others (rating them 4, 3 and 2). My main criticism of the 3 and the 2 were that while the best tracks were great, all of the non-best tracks were really boring and utterly devoid of personality. On this one that's luckily not the case. The opener is a bit boring, but apart from that the album is great. Stevie Wonder at his best. I particularly enjoyed Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away, You Haven't Done Nothin' and Please Don't Go.
The ‘weakest’ in Stevie’s legendary run of albums in the 1970s - to my mind, a sustained period of creative genius unmatched in popular music ever. (Beethoven and Bach composed for mass audiences too, by the way). It isn’t a weak album, obviously. But the introspection sits a little heavily upon it at times. Still a pleasure to listen to it, though.

Interesting to hear a full album by Wonder; can see his genius in some of the songs. The slower ones drag a bit though.

Wow. Loved this Album. I heard some jazz versions of Bird of Beauty not knowing it was Stevie. Haven’t Done Nothing was also unexpected. Pls Don’t Go also surprised me. Reggae Woman was expected. Nice. This great artist influenced music.

Good album but there is a lull in the middle. Definitely not one of my favorite Stevie Wonder albums, but he has a lot of good ones.
Stevie Wonder is one of the towering giants of music in any period. His run of albums in the 70s defies belief. One of my all-time favourite songs, They Won't Go When I Go, is on this album. Stunning musicianship, perfect vocals, groove for days, watertight arrangements. It's all here.

Slightly prefer predecessors Talking Book and Innervisions, which I felt had a bit more energy to them, but this was still a very good album.

A splendid album by Stevie Wonder. Not nearly as long as songs in the key of life. 3F doesn’t have as many commercial hits as some of his other albums but it still contains a wide range of sounds that Stevie Wonder is capable of. There are the upbeat funky songs. The slower melodic thoughtful ones. Stevie wonder had an ability especially in the 70s to create great music. This album isn’t any different. 8.0/10
stevie wonders whole back catalogue has about 5 good songs in it. some of those are so huge they are almost as large as SHACK, but the rest is so terrible they are best represented by a malnourished foetal painted swiss cretin.

I had kind of a shower thought while listening to this album, specifically during the second track in which Stevie ponders why people think of him as a lesser man because he’s black. This made me think of a lot of other Stevie songs that deal with discrimination and race relations. Here’s a blind man who deals with issues of people judging people based on skin color. Color. Something he’s never seen. Being blind, Stevie simply cannot judge people on what they look like, including skin color. But here he is singing about being black. That’s just so fucked up...that prejudice is so strong a blind man knows what it means to be black.
IDK if this album was less interesting than Innervisions or if I just wasn't in the mood but it didn't really hook me. Weird that this list has Wonder's 16th AND 17th studio albums. Was that era of his life *really* that important?

A few albums into the peak Stevie Wonder period here - it's not quite the high for me of his previous disc "Innervisions" nor his next one "Songs In The Key of Life" - even though there really aren't any bad moments at all here, the songs as a whole aren't up to the previous (perhaps unattainable) standards. Not really fair when you're competing against yourself, though - it's like complaining about a 33-year old Wayne Gretzky getting "only" 130 points. "Boogie On Reggae Woman" and "You Haven't Done Nothin'" are the highest of highs here. As with his other great albums around this time, the sounds and production are part and parcel with the greatness of the music and composition. It somehow feels like these songs were from the 70s AND from the distant future all at once. Could listen to this album at any time anywhere, just needed like 2 or 3 more killer individual songs to put it to a 5 for me 8/10 4 stars
First of all, that's a great album cover. Second, that's a great album title. And while this one didn't leave me humming anything in particular, I'm hard-pressed to find a bad moment on this one. I could let this play in the background forever and probably let it play in the foreground for a few spins, too. I'd need a good long car ride alone with it to focus on it, probably. Regardless, glad I heard it.
Yeah, similar to what Craig said I did not pick out a single banger on this album, and yet... I mean, it's Stevie Wonder so it ain't like it's hot garbage. Perfectly listenable and enjoyable. But absolutely nothing stood out to me. Continues to be shocking that there's still so little overall variety on a list of one thousand records. Also, continues to be not shocking at all. We gotta be due some more hip hop or metal soon, right? Or country? When was the last country record on this list? And I guess they're just ignoring classical altogether, right? Dunno, but I think this list might be some bullshit.

I do really like this one. It doesn't have any of his very famous tracks on it, but its a consistently well written and enjoyable album
Going into this project, I wanted 2 main things - to explore genres I haven't explored enough, and historical albums I would otherwise likely never listen to. Listening to this album pretty much sums up every goal I had all in one, and it's great to boot. When people talk about Stevie Wonder, they often talk about him blowing them away with his best regarded work, and I don't think I quite got that feeling, but everything people love about him is on display here: the way he talks about his faith is engaging and beautiful (Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away is a stunning song); his songwriting is poignant when it needs to be with some fantastic lines and the general feeling from the album is one of both importance and joy. I think this is one that'll grow on me with time, and I can see myself revisiting it a lot - especially when I listen to more of his discography.

It's hard to listen to Stevie and not feel good. His voice is one of the best and the message in his music is so positive, even when it's a slower tune you still need to move along with it. Incredible artist, and this was great to peek into his lesser known stuff.
This is one of the most beautiful albums ever made. As one of my dad's favourite albums I've heard it many many times. I can't put my finger on it, but somehow it hits my emotions quite badly and therefore I find it hard to listen to this album frequently.
Whew, that was a ride! Is it as good as Songs in the Key of Life? No. But is it an excellent album? Absolutely yes. Not to mention, it's better than approximately 95% of albums I've listened to so far on this list. And for that, it gets 5 stars.

17th album. How...just where and how does he come up with all of this music? There's some substance to the lyrics here beyond the just soulful sound you expect from Wonder. Songs about being better people and knowing each other. Pretty good stuff!

Feel good Stevie Wonder!
Pretty phenomenal. Catchy and beautiful instrumentals and incredible vocals + lyrics, not much more I could ask for. 9/10
The music was good, but not necessarily my thing. It was a more somber record and wasn't necessarily what I would want to listen to very often.
A lot of meh, somewhat relieved by Boogie On Reggae Woman. Then you hear the clavinet lead into You Haven't Done Nothin', one of the greatest songs I've heard. Side two is a great Stevie journey: a slow ballad that makes your heartache, a sweet bit of samba soul, with that wonderful sound of the cuica, and a great soul song that fades out with a jam. Can't go give stars because the first side is a let down, but side two is everything that genius was capable of.
Stevie Wonder had a string of albums that delicately balanced cheese with badassery before descending entirely into cheese. This was the end of the streak, and you're starting to see the tightrope walker wobble. There was still some decent soul, but the funk bangers were a thing of the past at this point.
Nothing really stands out here, but it sounded nice enough. Probably wouldn't listen again, but I definitely didn't have to grit my teeth as it played. 3/5.
Another fine Stevie Wonder album, he was certainly on a roll throughout the 70s making consistently fine albums with a nice mix of rock, pop, soul and R & B, always with a taste and beauty. This album ranks behind Talking Book and Innervisions and on a par with Songs in the Key of Life, in my opinion. 3.75 🌟

The lineup of talented backup singers Stevie has here is insane (Deniece Williams, Minnie Riperton et al). I thought Stevie might run the table and get 5's for all of his albums. This one is great, absolutely deserving of a spot on the list. There's not a damn thing wrong with it. It just lives in that 4.5 area.
