A Girl Called Dusty

She's got a pretty good voice...that's where the compliments for this one end. When you compare her to a lot of contemporaries in the genre she's missing that added dimension of soul. Large parts of this album felt disingenuous- I got the feeling that recording this album was just a 9-5 for her and she was trying to get home on time. I didn't think the backing band was all that creative either. A couple of interesting songs, mostly pretty boring. The back up singers sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunks half the time. If hell were the cabaret on a cruise ship, this would surely be the headliner.

#4 Great voice, nice collection of songs. Summer Is Over is the standout but it's a bit of a snooze fest to get that far through the album. 1/5

This was bad. The only thing that I kind of liked were some of the instrumentals in the background, but they were also just on repeat, so even that got boring.

Noch so ein alter Schinken… ich merke direkt, dass das nichts für mich ist. Ich hör noch den Song mit den meisten Klickst („Whishin’ and Hopin’“) - kenne ich sogar. Ne, das ist nicht meins.

It’s a big fat no from me chief.

Awful, just terrible, dated, of its time music that I would rather have not had to listen to. I derived zero enjoyment from listening to this rather dull collection of drab songs. I almost had to stop when I endured Dusty wailing away during Mockingbird, an unpleasant experience. I was also disturbed to learn this must have been a double album, as the listening time was too long for a single LP. Truly a test of endurance to make it all the way to the end, like having the worst radio station ever on for an hour.

Dusty's Karaoke Album. Seriously, these are all covers and they're not particularly good ones. What makes this a must hear? Her voice is not as great as people seem to think and the string additions are awful.
