Reviews (page 12 of 14)

While consistently good, it doesn’t quite reach the highs he would set on later records.

- sehr entspannt - perfekte Hintergrundmusik

I get the feeling this is the type of album that you would get more out of if you played an instrument. This just didn't connect with me though.

Chill and cool style jazz

This seems VERY popular. Can't say it did it for me. I didn't *hate* it, but nor was it the greatest thing since I filled my ears with sliced bread.

A nice and simple album with 5 songs, but each was around 10 minutes long (apart from one that was 5 minutes). Overall, nice jazzy experience, so I am happy with this album. I would prefer to have this in the background, instead of actively listening to it, but it was nice.

Did we already do this one? Lol. Maybe I have it so I’ve heard it a lot

I recognize that this is objectively good, but I do not enjoy jazz

Rollo.

Not something I would put on intentionally but still pretty decent to listen to. Overall Jazz isn't really my thing.

Still not my favorite Miles, but we're getting warmer

Nice sounds

Was fighting to not fall asleep while listening to this. But it's very good for jazz.

blues and jazz. not my jam, but good.

A jazz masterpiece

This is the music that I can listen to in the background to unwind and chill out. This is the music I can listen to in a crowded cafe sipping hot coffee. This is the music I can listen to really pay attention and enjoy the beauty of the medium of sound. This is the music I can have sensual sex to. This is the music I can listen to when I am sad. This is the music I can listen to when I'm filled with joy. This is the music I can listen to when I don't want to listen to music. This is the music I can listen to.... Favourite piece: All Blues

This is better jazz than the last one.

Ja typisch Miles David. Heerlijke achtergrondmuziek

Yeah it's jazz

real nice for studying

Good listen Standout song: Freddie Freeloader

Probably the best jazz, but still don't love jazz

Giving this anything less than 5 would be wrong. So, 3 it is then

from a musicianship standpoint, you do not get better than this. miles, trane, cannonball, and evans all on the same record should rightfully be praised. some of the greatest to ever do it. and as such, the musicianship on this is incredible. my problem with this album is purely a me thing - i really don't like cool jazz. i much prefer miles' bebop stuff. cool jazz just doesn't do it for me. i, quite frankly, find it a bit boring. so despite the classic songs, the incredible playing, and the all-timer status, i actually really didn't enjoy myself listening to this a whole lot. once again, i admit, this is fully a me thing. if you love this, go off kings. it's just not for me.

Very pleasant. I don’t feel qualified to comment more than that on a jazz album

This is about as good as jazz gets for me. 3.75

Jazz is just too un emotional for me. I respect it but I can’t get through an album of it.

I like this more than other Miles Davis albums that I’ve heard. This one is less experimental and freeform. Much more accessible to me.

Definitely some high quality music but not really my style

Nice background jazz, was quite straightforward considering it was Miles Davis and John Coltrane, was expecting it to be a lot stranger. Again, would be great live and was enjoyable to listen to but it's hard to recommend this over any other straightforward jazz album.

Good jazz, nothing further to note.

This is the only jazz album I had listened to before we started this list... Listened to it on a list of the 100 greatest albums of all time so I know it is highly regarded. On both occasions that I've heard this album I've been in London coincidentally! Does make wandering around a busy London more calming. I for me it's nice background music, nothing more. I wouldn't choose to listen to it. Sure that makes me ignorant.... Just not that into jazz, although this is more tolerable than most we've had 3

Definitely more musical than some other Miles Davis music I've heard here.

I'm not a frequent listener of jazz. I don't think I get it and this album proves that. Very talented. Fantastic sound. I just don't get it enough.

With jazz, I really struggle to rate. I have developed a bit of a binary system Do I hate listening to this right now? Can I tolerate it? If it's yes to the first, I'll give it a 2 because I'm not an idiot. I can tell if something is good so not a 1 star, although I'd like to shove my fingers in my ears and scream to block it out. If it's the latter, I'll give it a 3 because it's a massive achievement for a bit of jazz to just not piss me off. I feel pretty awful contributing to a pool of reviews with such an arbitrary system but it's all I have. This album didn't make me mad. So 3 stars. Well done Miles.

A good Miles Davis album. "So What" is the standout, but I'm never drawn to put this on. It's music to have on whilst drinking Martinis outdoors on a hot sunny day, whilst chatting with intellectual friends. It's just a bit too long and all a bit too similar.

For jazz this is good

Bluesy

Se oli hyvää jazzia. Hämärä ja savuinen tunnelma. Parhaat: So What, All Blues

I think the problem I have with this style of music is that I forget it by the time it's over - it just sounds like background coffee shop music to me. Great for when I want music but don't want to actually pay attention to what I'm listening to.

Good background music!

smooth

Yep this is definitely jazz.

It was fine, nice background music but nothing I'd seek out again

Really enjoyed having this on, but there wasn't anything in here that has me hungry to return. I enjoy jazz, but I can't say I crave it like other music.

I have heard many of these before and it was pleasant but not my style of music

I understand that this is a great record for it's genre and maybe music in general... But it partially gets a bit annoying while listening to it.

Well, this feels like a big one. Jazz has not been high up on my list, and this confirms that I do not appreciate the fine touches of the craft. Oh well. 6/10

Heard before. Have to be in the mood or it gets annoying

I really like this album. I was never a big jazz fan but a few years ago I began to take an interest and wondered if I was missing something. I read that Miles Davis was a good place to start my jazz journey and his must have album was Kind of Blue. I streamed the album initially but loved the album so much that I have since bought it. I need to be in the mood to listen to it and mostly this tends to be in bed before dropping off to sleep. I still find a lot of jazz a challenge to get into but intend to persevere. My eldest brother who was partly responsible for my overall love of music in general, was a big jazz fan and I have inherited all his vintage jazz vinyl albums. Kind of Blue is a good touch stone to compare other jazz albums. The first track So What is my favourite. Not an expert but I think this follows the classic jazz form with the initial rhythm eventually returning at the end but in between little snatches tempt and tease the listener so that when the the track eventually resolves itself it comes as a relief. So not an easy listen but if you are more than a casual listener gives immense satisfaction.

Kind of jazz

Trumpet heavy jazzy blues

Ye relaxing jazz and that is

Another PTSD album, but this time from having to analyse the chart of so what for music language studies. But still a classic jazz album.

Solid 3 for me. I don’t love jazz, but I think the only reason I didn’t like this was the saxophone parts were obnoxious. Guess that’s jazz tho! Trumpet parts were great and as that is miles Davis, I’ll give him credit. If he was the saxophonist, it’d be a 1 for Ruining good music.

Some parts are really good, like the main motif of So What and All Blues, but I found myself losing interest during some solos.

6/10 This is so outside my experience. I've never just sat down and listened to Miles Davis before. My first impression is that this is hard to listen to and do other things, which isn't bad. I don't ordinarily engage with music like that is all. That being said, it isn't anything I'd seek out on my own, and I don't feel compelled to listen again. 2/26/2024

Heilt coolio, men revolusjonere ikkje livet mitt

Enjoyed it

Classic

Another really good album to study to. Found it a little bit repetitive

Era bonito, relajante.

Beautiful! Mighty sleepy stuff. Gotta remember this for long flights.

Miles Davis....again? This is the 3rd Miles Davis album I have reviewed. I actually listened to this one quite extensively in my "History of American Jazz" course that I took back in college. A good listen.

One of the most iconic jazz albums. Love “So What”. Not the kind of music I want a constant diet of, as it requires a ton of effort above shoulders and on a Friday I am ready for some music that works from waist down. Every musician needs to take their vitamins once in awhile.

pretty good

Honestly kind of difficult to listen to. Everyone who says they love this is lying to be cool

Great jazz album. Wouldn't have minded listening longer. 3.5/5

pleasant enough

A lot of talent on display, just a little slow for me. I'm way more into swingier jazz. 3.5/5

Good music, just a very short album. I was really confused when Autoplay started playing other artists!

Perfect for background listening while doing something such as cooking.

6/10 not because its bad just not my listening preference

Very good

nice background music

Chida musica instrumental.

This sort of jazz is not my thing but I can appreciate it for what it is. It's not the sort of thing I'd choose to actively listen to but I wouldn't mind having it on in the background now and then.

Not my tempo 3.5/5

Nice. Jazzy. 3/5

Groovy, smooth jazz. This album is what I picture jazz to be. I also picture it being the soundtrack to every late 70’s early 80’s movie as well. I’m sure this is much more intricate but it just has that feel. It’s a rebound album but I don’t really find it something that I would choose to listen to. 3/5

done 4/10

I enjoyed this, but it always faded into the background and never actively grabbed me.

Might be a situation where, if I was a musician, I might appreciate this more. I could totally envision listening again (great, chill music for driving, sewing, whatever) but might not explicitly go out of my way to pull this up.

Although Ionly listened to a of couple songs, the ambience created by 'Blue In Green' and 'So What' was not one I expected to overly enjoy. Now do I see myself throwing this kind of music on regularly, no but for dinner parties or a relaxing evening, it's perfect.

More of a Sketches of Spain guy

Just doesn't do that much for me.

maybe i'm not in a jazz mood rn, but also i feel like i preferred in a silent way to this album, it's not bad it just didn't super grab me, 3/5

Feels like an album that should be experienced either live or in a very specific mood

Music was carried. Kind of like your own a long train track, the tempo stays steady but the view is always a little different sometimes vastly different. However jazz just really isn’t for me despite this being a classic. Could not pay attention to notice that a song had changed. Could not find melodies either.

I like the saxophone and trumpet. It’s chill jazz. I like how there’s one instrument leading the way. It’s more of an occasional listen for me. I’m hoping for a more rich complex sound. I love vinyl

Smooth jazz.

Good but not really my thing

A classic for sure, but modern day? Meh.

Very trumpety

1, 4, 5

Listened before, is a jazz album. It’s nice in the background

I listen to some jazz and know Miles Davis is a classic but not actually familiar. So What is making me feel stressed. I enjoyed Freddie Freeloader way more. This is the vibe I like. Chill , background, jazz. Also-fun name. It did get back into crazy sax for a bit though. But that's jazz. Blue in Green opens and closes with piano which is fun. I also believe the opening is a muted trumpet , which is fun. Overall good background music. Not my favorite jazz but very talented musician. I enjoyed the album but listening straight did lose me after a while

This music is fine to listen but none of it sticks at all. I started a third listen and don't remember any of these tunes. I never noticed that the album ended and started playing other stuff. These dudes are obviously great at playing their instruments but I just don't have any jazz knowledge.

A little repetitive

I was a trumpet player so it's easy to get into this

Would appreciate more if I knew a thing about jazz, but it did improve my mood.

Loved it.

Decent listening experience. I get why it's an influential album but I'm not a jazz enthusiast as much, i.e. I won't ever select any of these tracks to listen to of my own perogative. Favourite song was Freddie Freeloader. 3/5

Traumatic

I don’t typically listen to jazz, but I enjoyed this. I find his playing to be very expressive and thoughtful.

not a fan of jazz, and normally very specific on what i listen to, but this was good!

Fill in soon. 5/10

Good background music

Trumpet

Not a big jazz/blues person but Miles has something.

Jazz. I like jazz. But it's more of a background jazz for me. I guess I prefer more lively jazz music.

The music is fine, but this style of jazz is not really all that engaging to me. I've always wondered why, and I think I finally realized it's because of the group dynamic (or lack thereof). This album is primarily a collection of very talented soloists performing in immediate succession under the pretense of a collection of songs. Each songs starts as an ensemble piece, that gives way around the 1m mark to a medley of spotlight swapping solo showcases. I'm amazed at the patience of the rhythm section, as they play along while everyone else gets to do whatever they want.

Again jazz. I prefer this one than John Coltrane, but still not my...jazz

I wish I was the kind of person who "gets" jazz. But I'm not. I'm sure its objectively a great album and I'm glad I've now listened to it. Probably won't again though.

Chill, very jazzy obv. Subdued trumpet. Expensive hotel bar type beat. Sax coming in on Freddie was nice. Fav was prob Freddie, maybe blue in green.

Jazz is not my favorite, but great vibes. Songs blend together although feels repetitive to my uncultured ears.

This worked for a Sunday, and made the baby nod off. Jazz like this does all blur together though. Pleasant with talent shining, but not very memorable and very homogenous. Would not return to it.

This would be a 5 in a live setting I’m sure. Through the stereo I find it hard to stay engaged. The players are all excellent. Jazz, I disappoint you. I know. But go away.

Good album

Again, surprised me. Out of my comfort zone.

I find jazz a bit boring, but having a background in playing alto sax in concert band I can really appreciate this.

Nice - not the kind of thing I'll go back to often but what a serene day I had as a result!

Probably the only jazz album I could name, but not my favourite from this list. Obviously I'm too much of a musical heathen to know why it's supposed to be good, one just enjoyed others more 🤷‍♀️

The opening track helped me get over the 'Miles is overrated' thinking. I know it better than I'd have predicted. Amazing musicians.

Some smooth as silk jazzy sax. Music to drive to.

Classic!

Brilliant, musical genius perfect for putting on in the background as you try to develop your video game. Just not the kind of thing I'd listen to by choice.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, especially the recording quality. I think it the issue that I’m having with it is that almost the entire first half of the album is just saxophone soloing. It feels cramped more in comparison to the silent way, for instance. Part of that might be that there is a lot of saxophone, which doesn’t have a ton of dynamic range at least the way they played. When the trumpet does come in, in those earlier songs and with blue in green, it is significantly better in my opinion. So I don’t think I’d buy this, but it is good enough that I would listen again.

It's jazz. Not my kind of jazz. I love On The Corner so have nothing against Miles, but couldn't find a way into this at all. Again, pleasant enough but didn't really grab me. I Kind Of didn't mind it, but it won't be on my heavy rotation list.

Enjoyable, even if i'm never going to rave about jazz

Not as good as Bitches Brew mind

BL: Miles Davis is one of the most iconic figures in Jazz and one of the reasons why I picked up trying to learn the trumpet, I’ve never listened to this album the whole way through but I’m sure I’ve heard each individual track at some point. AL: very competent jazz album, excellent lounge listening and Davis is certainly one of if not the best Brass player of all time. FT: “So What”, “All Blues” 3/5

Enjoyed this, another instrumental album.

Nice sounding album for jazz bar background music. Good for creating an jazzy atmosphere

Rollo.

I was told if I don't like this album, then I just don't like jazz. Well, it was nice, relaxing music for my drive home. I just wasn't blown away by it. I prefer more upbeat jazz like the Hugh Masekela I had earlier in the list.

As usual I can just not appreciate this type if Jazz, too smooth for me. Saw Comet Is Coming on festival this weekend, that type of wild jazz is more my thing. Consider this easy listening, sorry for insulting Miles lovers.

Ljúft og notalegt. Klassi yfir þessu.

it feels wrong that we can only rate this album in full integers as that's a bit disrespectful to this album that has been carefully curated to not allow you to feel at ease. i also admire the vision that it took to write two tracks and play them both at the same time.

Kind of okay

It's unique experience for me

Lots of doodlydoots here. So many in fact that there are only 5 songs in this whole album. It's good. But for me. But good.

Now, I know this is a classic and well deserved to be in the list. But, are we all just pretending to like Jazz? I mean, it’s inoffensive enough to not bother me, but do I get excited listening to it? Not really I’m afraid. It’s ok, not better than that and not worse.

More elevator music

I understand the importance, but I like my music more succinct. Favorite song: so what

I wouldn’t normally listen to this unless I was playing, like, The Sims: Hot Date expansion pack but I still like and appreciate it 3.5/5

All that jazz

1/5, 20%

Definitely not my thing...I could see myself listening to this if I were sitting in the corner in a dark smoking bar, drinking whiskey, and being heartbroken. Other than that...this just sounds like "alcohol in a park bench" to me

It's jazz again, I'm just gonna have the same reaction unless I somehow really love the work done.

Saxophone driven jazz. I'm not sure I even heard trumpet

Great Jazz album! Beautiful however I don't feel qualified to judge the albums quality and Jazz isn't something I generally listen to as anything but background music

"Blue in Green" is indeed blue. Very blue, in fact. Mind-blowing, transcedental experience inducing blue. The rest... well, the rest is just kind of blue.

Background music for me

Jazz instrumental. Se hace un poco aburrido.

It's harmless background music to me. Not really anything grabbing my attention, but it's a nice, relaxing listen. My favourite song was So What.

Not my kind of music, anyway woderfull

Nice to know that Miles Davis can actually create good music (It feels horrible to say something like this about a jazz legend, but here we are). Unlike his other albums, Kind Of Blue at least has more layers and is more dynamic. The horns and keys playing with one another sounds really pleasing on several sections. The two work well together and complement each other, with neither instrument overshadowing its partner. All that being said though, if this is the gold standard for jazz music, then for someone like me who generally doesn't enjoy the genre it doesn't really paint a good picture of its highs. It's still background music, at the end of the day. There are probably better examples of jazz for casual listeners, which are more structured and I don't know, more energetic? Because this still ain't it, chief.

he's a great player and this is good background music.

Yet another great jazz album from one of the greats. Like all the other jazz albums, I do get tired of it after about 30-40 minutes but it’s all still good. This one even made me want to go back and try to listen to bitches brew again (still wasn’t a huge fan, but it was a little better)

Wasn't bad to have on in the background. Can't say any of it really stuck out to me.

Better than I though

I love the concept of Miles Davis, but his music just doesn't do it for me.

Lovley jazz album. I can never say no to the trumpet. beautiful

A great jazz album and an excellently invigorating but calming listen while working today. I will say that I wasn't bowled over by any one element of this LP (as its reputation would suggest), but again it was a solid listen and I'll likely be returning in the future.

Relaxt hoor.

This is better than most of the shite jazz we’ve had to listen to.

A safe 3. Good in its field but i'm not going to be listening again soon. Not my genre really.

Niet verkeerd, maar iets te slaapverwekkend. Waarschijnlijk helemaal niet mijn ding. 3*

Top 3 Songs: 1 - Freddie Freeloader (2) 2 - So What (1) 3 - All Blues (4)

Easy, good, relaxed, harmonic, harmonica. I didn't know the album before, now I do, now I will listen to it occasionally. Achievement unlocked

Good album to read to. Puts one in a calm, concentrated manner. This is only the second jazz album I've ever heard - being new to the genre, I'm still not sure what to make of this but I think I liked it. The man knows how to play his trumpet.

I know it's a classic. And great background music for a jazz breakfast but not something I'd listen to actively.

it’s alright however gets a little boring aver a while

Nicht meins

Good for studying

3 Alright, this is one I've been waiting for. Having never heard the album, I've seen it ranked consistently among the best albums of all-time (and it's always one of the top comments on any "Best Album of All Time" Reddit threads). And... it's a jazz album. It's a good listen, but I still feel like I couldn't tell you what separates this from Bill Evans or Hugh Masekela. This list has done a good job of expanding my knowledge of jazz, but I feel like I'm still waiting for something to "click" and I finally understand the genre. Unfortunately, I think I may just have to accept jazz while never be a favorite of mine. I've yet to find any of it less than pretty good, but not sure it could ever cross the barrier of being a favorite.

Great musicians, not my genre… found it a little boring. Not good for car trips

Some of the best background music I've ever heard.

Blue in green og Flamenco eitthvað voru virkilega góð. Hitt flest ekki minn tebolli.

It was ok. A lot less unpleasant dissonance than the previous Miles Davis album we had just last week. It's good for background listening and has some pretty good moments. But it's rare that I can get excited by jazz.

I want to get this, since it's like the #1 jazz record. It didn't really capture me though. I listened through twice and it was very nice, but I was not amazed. I feel like this is a personal failing. That being said, I can't just rate it high because I'm supposed to. 3.49/5

I know the importance of this album in the history of music, but I'm very sorry to say that I don't like It. I hate trumpet 😡. I'll give it a 3 anyway otherwise I'll be banned from this group!

This album justifies my dislike of the saxophone, when it's not screaming in my right ear, the tracks all have a great groove.

Smooth and inventive, just not engaging enough. Like really good music to be on hold to.

I’m an unsophisticated dweeb who doesn’t know how to appreciate jazz. I can acknowledge that this is a great work of music, but did it resonate personally? No. If I picked a favorite in the album, it would be the last song. Idk what to rate this…do I rate on enjoyment or objective recognition of skill….I’ll rate on enjoyment, I guess…

Very impressive, and enjoyable, and creative. Instrumentals rarely move me as much as songs with lyrics.

Classy

I'm supposed to love it. I've tried, it's technically brilliant but.... I don't put it on by choice.

It was OK. I could only find the 'Legacy Edition' of the album which was like two hours long. There was only so much that I could take but certainly the original stuff was good for working to.

Good instrumental, very relaxing quality music

So what is classic. The rest is cool. 3/5

Didn’t move me. Nice to cook to.

Ahhh…took me right back to the 90’s and teenage angst.

This is nice & chill. Definitely a peaceful listen. Good for reading or working.

Not much of a classical blues fanatic, but this one surely was soothing to but on during a cleanup session.

Classic!

Well, I am not a jazz person as noted before, but this was a pleasant way to spend 45 minutes while making ramen. So What is a classic and the rest is very pleasant.

My first experience with genuine jazz music and I did enjoy it in the background as I worked but it may not be for me. The only other jazz I have listened to is H. Jon Benjamin's (yes that H Jon Benjamin) Well I guess I should have...(subtitle) learned to play the piano. He brought in a bunch of seasoned studio jazz musicians and then attempted to make an album with him on piano, having never learned how to play the piano. It's mildly amusing.

It was fine

Jazz. Bueno

We chilling

Not as good as last Miles Davies album I listened to

I know it makes me an unsophisticated simpleton, but my brain somehow isn't wired for jazz music. I can appreciate it, but it doesn't really resonate with me, no matter how many times I try. Having said that, I do appreciate this type of jazz more than many other sub-genres. It's listenable and doesn't grate on my nerves. I could definitely see myself in a dark, smokey lounge, sipping an old fashioned and listening to Miles Davis and crew playing these songs on stage. I know it's a classic, but for me it's 3 stars.

Rollo.

Listened Before? N Pros: My first Miles Davis! Great sound, very familiar and soothing as a Kansas City resident. I loved this album. Wonderful musicianship. Cons: I just have a difficult time getting into non-classical music with no vocals whatsoever. However, I may find myself getting familiar with vocal-less jazz sooner than I think. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Blue in Green

Nice music for the background but for today's ears, it fails to be more than that unless you are a affictionado

Classic Tracks....great easy listening.

Don't understand the hype

I don’t know. Pretty good I guess. Some great moments. I can never seem to separate this era of jazz and film noir tropes, therefore it makes it hard for me to purely listen. I felt like John Coltrane outplayed Mile’s a few times (or is that just because the sax is a more dynamic instrument?). Definitely had some moments, especially near the end of the album where I said, “wow.” 3

I'm not fair to jazz here. It's tough to appreciate it when listening at my desk. It's either too distracting, and I have to turn it off in order to focus, or it's too smooth and blends into the background. So, here's three stars.

Nothing not to like, but I'm not that excited.

Eh, jazzy and kinda cool. 3/5.

I struggle with jazz. The musicians are talented, but it is not something I actively seek out. I don't necessarily enjoy or dislike it. Supposedly Miles Davis is the epitome of cool, but all I can think of regarding him is the "peeing my pants" line from Billy Madison.

I think I had to be in the right mood to listen

I know for some jazz is relaxing, but it honestly stresses me out. This album is good, and Miles Davis is a singular talent, but I can’t say I enjoyed it. I think that’s on me though because I don’t really care for the genre.

Have listened before Cant quite get it Seems to get better the more I listen

it's lovely, and heathen that i am, pretty forgettable too. i think you can appreciate it, without wanting to repeat it y'know

Bit too jazzy for me!

Probably over my head, but a good listen.

Jazz is not something I normally listen to, so I tried to be objective, and it's a solid album and you can tell how revolutionary it was for its time. 7.0/10

Not really my thing, no lyrics, probably more fun to play than to listen to

I’m not a big fan of jazz, but was still interesting to listen to

Easy listening music

Obvs great but not for me. I have to be fair to the system. Have saved it on my Spotify tho as maybe it’s about finding the right moments for it. If he plays live let me know guys

It's good, I've listened to it many times. Not something I find myself wanting to listen to randomly but I enjoy it when I hear it.

A very pleasant listening experience.

pretty good! some nice study music

Very chill and downbeat. Cool stuff, but unfortunately nothing truly attention grabbing for me.

Rollo.

Leider nicht so meins

I don't really understand the obsession with this album, maybe it was revolutionary at the time, but now it's been redone so much, it's almost generic.

superb choice for PIs

soft jazz.

This just isn't for me as much as I would like to be that person.

Fav Song: Blue in Green

Det jazz

A bit jazzy for me. I appreciate the skill but just don’t find it super pleasant to listen to

Smoothhh

I mean I get it. But I don’t think I can pick one song apart from the others. This is the kind of jazz that I’ve been told I should like but I just don’t. The intra verse movements are just not very interesting to me, and nothing really jumps out at me. 2/5.

I get a sense that is really high quality and that every sound is intentional. You actually feel things when you listen to it. However, my music taste involves lyrics, so not my cup of tea

Sometimes jazz just sounds like elevator music to me and the songs go on for so long. This was good, but just like....eh. It is fine. Actual Rating...2.5 Liked Songs: "Freddie Freeloader" and "Blue in Green"

As far as jazz goes this isn't bad, I actively dislike a lot of jazz but I can listen to this. It still seems like it should be a soundtrack to something to me though, but what do I know.

I respect it. Just don’t really enjoy listening to it

I dont like so much that ambiental jazz music, its was just Ok to me. Its like 2.5 out of 5 but i will go with 2 this time

I’m not a jazz type of person but i think in a certain mood this álbum could fit really well. BTW, Blue in Green was an amazing track.

Gave it a go but found it dead boring, couldn't get into at all. I've not listened to Miles Davies before and I was quite excited for it but I didn't enjoy this one. I'll have to try some of his others.

Its beautiful from a Jazz instrumental perspective and lens, the solos sound wonderful and the drum-set and piano worked perfectly to sound nice and bring the music to life. However, the songs being so long and without lyrics, its just not my style, there were a few moments where I wondered “when is this going to end?” Or “whens a different instrument going to find itself into a solo or spotlight?” However it did sound nice but the rating is due to the fact I wouldn’t relisten to the album as a whole, maybe here and there Blue in Green I will listen to as the piano made the whole song amazing and was the shortest one for my attention span for instrumental songs. Overall its nice but from an instrumentalist view.

Once you've heard one, you've heard them all

Not to be a broken record but jazz still isn’t really my cup of tea

I dont like blues, sorry. It is too noisy for me. Yet professionally done.

i swear to fuck i hate jazz so much

Cool. But i prefer the songs with lyrics

This was hard for me to get through. It felt so long and for some reason gave me some anxiety.

Just not my style

Profesionally developed I guess, but this genre I just can’t seem to love. It took me back to my favorite the show Sex and the City, though.

A very pleasant album - but it didn't grip me.

Cozy but boring

I dont think that I can appreciate instrumental jazz music. I can see the talent and skill required to play the fun and playful sax, the dominant trumpet, the catchy swing jazz drum beat, the seductive double bassline and the joyful piano... but ultimately one track runs into another and I find it hard to distinguish between the end of 'Freddie Freeloader' and the start of 'All Blues'. Because 'Blue in Green' has provided a link between the two songs. I appreciate that the album is essentially one piece broken up into themes. Which I understand. But I feel like maybe that I am expecting something to stand out to me within each of the the themes. And it doesn't. It is all enjoyable, but it could quite easily be background music and I wouldn't notice. I know that makes me unable to understand what this music is trying to say. But maybe I just don't speak its language. I would listen to this album again, but probably only to create a relaxed air whilst I was reading. (2.250)

Based on personal preference only, not skill or actual album merit. Miles Davis and all those featured are so extremely talented and this album stands the test of time, I'm just not a jazz girly.

Cool album but not the kind of music i'm listening to unfortunately.

While I’m not a jazz fan, I totally get the hype of Miles Davis, he’s sultry.

I’m sorry i understand this is important but i have too much brain rot for jazz

We skipped this one because we were behind by a day and wanted to catch up. We're also sick of jazz rn

Try eating sweets! That helps.

Fine jazz noises I guess. Better than others on here, but never rises above background music.

I'm sure it's great, but it's jazz, it sounds like jazz, I have no context for this, I'm not sure I enjoyed listening to it, kind of meandering trumpet playing with some bum bum bum walking bass notes, but I'm sure it's great. But really, it could also be the worst jazz album ever and I'd still be non-the-wiser. I'm giving it a 2 for personal enjoyment, it wasn't offensive to my ears, pleasant enough, it could be 1 or a 5 though!
