The TriffidsNever heard of these guys. Interesting story behind the band and David McComb. I liked the album so much I listened to another one. I'm not sure how to characterize it. Maybe alternative pop with a side of melancholy?

Outstanding, well recorded album. I'd never heard of them until about a year ago surprisingly. Elements of so many styles and done in a more polished way than expected for the time period and genre.
Weird and wonderful psychedelic music. Not surprising this isn't well reviewed but I like this kind of music.
Better than I remembered. A really good album recorded better than some other LZ albums.
Enjoyable but not a listen multiple times album.
Not my type of music I guess but I can see it being amazing and different for its time.
Really enjoyable album. Reminds me of Animal House. Probably not a multiple listen but certainly fun.
Not my favorite Kinks album. Not even sure why it’s considered great without reading about it.
Great album but not even my favorite Neil Young.
Great album. I prefer this sort of rock blues compared to blues blues.
I didn’t realize I’d like it as much as I did. I never really got into The Cars.
Nothing special. Sounds like James Brown. Probably a little shocking for the time.
Exactly what one would expect if they know the history of Syd. I love this kind of plodding, psychedelic music. You're not playing this at an upbeat party but it really is an outstanding example of this kind of music.
One or two that I didn't enjoy but overall a great album.
Outstanding album. Not sure if I ever listened to it before.
Really good album. Does not sound like the 80's. Genre crossing. I can hear that Living Color would call them an influence.
Outstanding, well recorded album. I'd never heard of them until about a year ago surprisingly. Elements of so many styles and done in a more polished way than expected for the time period and genre.
Not as good as I expected overall. I'd heard a handful of songs off the album before and liked them but others are not so good.
Great album. His delivery and voice appeal in a way most others don't. Only compaint is maybe it gets a little "samey" after a while.
Way ahead of it's time. Brings me back but I doubt I would listen to it much.
Excellent album. I'd rather listen all the way through than a song here and there. I'd buy the vinyl.
Meh. Was listenable but not something I want to hear often. Sounds kind of like too much noise at once.
Enjoyable listen. I've never heard it all the way through but have heard most in parts. Not a country fan but this is decent.
I almost made it through 4 songs. It sounds so repetitive and twangy.
Can't believe this album is that old. I never thought I'd feel nostalgic for The Offspring but this is a great album.
Catchy songs. Enjoyable listen. I doubt I'd listen again because it's not my taste.
I knew some of their songs already but didn't really know who sung them. I would actively seek out their stuff now.
Well recorded. Songs are too short but he probably did that on purpose as he was playing to a festival crowd and not necessarily a Muddy Waters' crowd.
Sounds like Van Morrison...of course. Outstanding album.
Needs to be listened to at loud volumes for full effect. Definitely not my thing.
I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. It's kind of haunting sounding and not poppy.
Outstanding! I didn't really know who they were. I know Kurt Vile and see he left the band early on.
If you love old jazz with piano, you'll like this. To be fair, I haven't listened to much Monk that I don't like.
So, so good. Pretty close to a perfect album.
Interesting album. It feels old timey, psychedelic and experimental all at the same time. I'm not sure when I would sit down and listen to this to "enjoy". It feels like an album people say they love because it's cool to love something so different and alternative.
Album is fine. Not great, not bad. I don't mind ska and not sure why this one is considered so great.
Good album. I owned the cassette. I don't find that it sticks out a ton more than some others of this style around that time.
I don't mind it but the horns overwhelm.
Dreamland "music". I like it but opportunities to sit and listen to it would be few.
Slightly more enjoyable the most country music but still not my bag.
Enjoyable as any Frank album.
The whole album sounds similar. Lemmy growling with heavy guitars. I've never listened to an entire Motorhead album and don't need to again.
Not my thing. Some decent music but then quite a bit of noise for the sake of noise.
Great album. So refreshing. I'm sure there's some nostalgia kicking in too.
I didn't quite make it through the whole thing. Bruce's music is some of the cheesiest, hokiest around. Chick music for dudes. It's truly unbearable.
Nothing remarkable. A couple of good songs but mostly just average stuff.
I'm not sure when one would listen to this kind of music except working out or some other hobby that being angry is a plus. It's not awful. I've actually seen them in concert in 1994 but I just don't see listening very often.
A perfectly ok album that's not really my taste in music.
Amazing album. Not much else to say.
Already had this album in my favorites. More great psychedelic music. I can see why many don't like this but it's one of my favorite genres.
I truly don't get this. Mostly unrelated noise. I've said this for other albums, but I don't understand when someone would sit down and listen to this. I can't think of a single moment, except maybe tripping, that this would be enjoyable.
Interesting album. Not my taste in terms of style but not the worst.
Muddy Waters albums seem to surprise me with how much I enjoy them. They're not as bluesy as I expect. Songs are complex and jammy. I liked this one quite a bit.
Sounds like AC/DC.
Meh.
Rap rock? Rock rap? Either way, it's a great album. I like crossover albums like crossover cuisine...mexican and sushi, asian and anything. Nothing wrong with blending. Often times you get a better version of both.
Just punk enough to be cool. Just rock enough to be cool. Grunge before grunge?
I liked this album a lot. Never heard him before...that I remember. Psychedelic, punk, brooding, odd. I need to listen again.
Never heard of these guys. Interesting story behind the band and David McComb. I liked the album so much I listened to another one. I'm not sure how to characterize it. Maybe alternative pop with a side of melancholy?
Great mellow listening album. Smooth and funky.
I don't get it. This is a slightly less than mediocre album with lots of sound the same songs. It's 80's adult contemporary before it was considered adult contemporary.
After reading the other reviews apparently I need to listen to the lyrics. I usually don't which is why I like some music that others don't and vice versa. Lyrics aside (obviously), I thought this was a bog standard album that I most likely will never hear again. I'm glad I didn't "hear" the lyrics. I may not have gotten through it.
Avant grunge. Sounds unrehearsed and raw. Not my thing.
I enjoyed this. Never heard of them before. Gives me a modern Lou Reed kind of feel. I'd like to check out some other albums.
This is a tough listen. "Singing" out of sync. So alternative that it's cool to like.
Loved this album. Dreamy but not samey. Musical and creative. On a good stereo it sounds incredible.
Pretty good. Never heard of them before. Indie alt easy listening.
I really have trouble getting into any Nick Cave stuff and this is no exception. It sounds like dramatic talking with some music playing in the background.
Relaxing and enjoyable. I love his voice.
Outstanding album. Not everyone (or many people) love Dylan's voice but I like it and the songwriting is brilliant.
What's to say? It's Public Enemy. It sounds like Public Enemy. It's awesome!
Amazing, incredible, ground breaking album. I owned this when it came out. It’s still fresh sounding.
Interesting "modern" psychedelic music. I love the genre but don't love this. It's too bright. I'm not even sure what that means but that's what it sounds like to me.
If you like piano, you'll probably like this. His vocalizations get a little odd but not overly distracting unless you really let them get to you.
Upbeat, enjoyable album. His iconic voice can't be mistaken. Music is good. Variety is good.
Odd.
Dream rock, stadium rock...whatever you want to call it. It's like guilty pleasure music. Guilty only because of how much shit they get. I had never listened to a whole Coldplay album until today but I've heard most of their songs at different times. I can see why this is on the list. Not a bad song on it.
First handful of songs are the popular ones for good reason. Too many love songs on the "B" side of the album. I don't understand why this would be on there.
No
Between hard rock and psychedelic. Excellent combo.
It's a band everyone should know. His voice is not the most soothing but it's quite unique. like some of their other albums better but I get why this is on there.
Somehow they made heavy metal accessible and mainstream.
An enjoyable Beatles album as it's not fun and boppy/poppy.
Not good. Hokey country music.
Interesting album. I'll have to give it a closer listen sometime.
Epitome of a rock album.
Probably a good album but I'm really sick of them so hard to listen.
I have no idea what this is. It's boring and pointless.
Not a Who fan but I remember this one being really popular back in the day.
I can't believe I had never heard this album, just a couple songs. Brilliant songwriting and his voice is amazing.
If you don't like Motorhead, you won't like this. I don't and I didn't. WHy this would be on here along with their other album with some of the same songs is a mystery. There's nothing groundbreaking or even different about them playing live.
Fantastic album.
Boring, generic album. If this band wasn't UK based they'd never get on this list.
Fun, funky album.
I didn't mind at all. Never heard of them and probably won't listen again but I didn't not enjoy it.
Poorly recorded. Decent album.
Meh. It's a little too avant garde for this type of music, in my opinion.
I don't understand the Radiohead hype. This is fine, but not great.
Outstanding. Catchy. Amazing album.
He talks.
"Pretty" music but the voice is unbearable. That twangy whine that Indian and Middle Eastern music often has is just grating to me.
Not a country fan but this is decent.
Has it all for a 60's album. Rock, folk, psychedelia. Love this one!
Not my thing. Unlistenable.
I enjoyed this much more than expected. Not too punk, not too hardcore.
I don't get Tom Waits. He sounds like Bruce on steroids. I don't get Bruce either.
Weird and wonderful psychedelic music. Not surprising this isn't well reviewed but I like this kind of music.
Outstanding! They really are one of the best of all time.
Nice but a little religious sounding at spots. Not my favorite woman vocalist.
Some ok stuff and some great, funky stuff. I liked the last handful of songs a lot.
Not what I expected...for the better. Funky and 3 covers that work better than the originals.
Hard to find streaming. YouTube was the only place and unsure of the quality. Interesting album that I enjoyed. The description sounds worse than it is.
Much better than I thought or remembered. Not sure I'd listen to it very often but that was not bad at all.
Never heard of The Auteurs before. I really liked this album and will definitely explore them more.
Fine. It doesn't stand out from any of the others during the 90's.
Nothing stands out about this. Rather boring actually.
Not near as good as Rumours. Some good songs some not so good.
Good 80's album from what most people would consider a one hit wonder band.
I don't think I like the Beatles near as much as most. I just don't fully get it.
Great album by Dylan that I've never heard.
Recording is horrible which makes this album close to unlistenable. The music is ok and nothing I'd listen to again.
Decent album. Every song is like 2 minutes long. Easy to listen to but tough to get into.
Good, not great. I can see in '98 that it was pretty amazing.
Phil Collins' voice grates on me as does Peter Gabriel's sometimes. Tough to listen to.
