Reviews (page 13 of 14)
Not a big jazz guy, but it was pleasant background listening while doing some work.
More like kind of boring
3/10
It's an instrumental jazz album from the 50s alright. They do indeed play their instruments. The mix is dated at its best, and simply bad at its worst. Not something that engages me very much. It's crazy to me how many people in these reviews are saying it's amazing background music and giving it a 5. A perfect album should make you want to pay attention to it. It's musically impressive sure, but I don't feel inspired to say much else extremely positive. Though it does get bonus points for featuring someone named Cannonball. 2.1/5
long ahh songs giving pizza shop in club penguin favorite song: so what
More jazz, it’s “good” and I get why it’s on the list but it’s just not for me 2
2.0
I mean it’s nice for calming down or some peaceful listening, but idk if my style
2/5 Not for me. Too slow
Andre sjangre med jazzpreg: mmmmm. Jazz alene: zzzzz. Top 3: So What, Flamenco Sketches, All Blues
J'aime pas le jazz
1/3. Maybe I just listened to this at the wrong time, but it’s such a bore to me. The only memorable moments are the main themes in So What, Freddie Freeloader, and All Blues. Otherwise, I just tune out completely, it just sounds like noise with little dynamics.
Obviously very good but not really my style? I haven’t really worked out how to rate these yet. I guess I’ll do it based on my personal taste?
It's pleasant enough, and the playing is obviously of virtuoso quality, but I'm afraid I found this largely rather dull. I don't know anything about modes or music theory and all I heard were a succession of instruments repeating scale themes, over a rhythm section that repeats scale themes. It's impressive this was largely improvised, but without anything that really challenges or excites, it's an empty excercise in showcasing musical skill for its own sake.
- Oh yay, another SA’er and self-declared pimp. - The first couple of songs & All Blues are not my jam (though, I liked and knew the melody of Freddie Freeloader) - they go on too long, the walking baselines are boring, the music feels cluttered, and I want the melody to stick around throughout - they both become more improv-y than I like. - I only enjoy trumpet if it hits every note perfectly, but when it squeaks, honks, or scratches up/down to/on a note, it puts me on edge. I get it’s supposed to elicit coolness, but I just always wish it was cleaner and more emotive. - Blue in Green and Flamenco Sketches were much more emotive than the others, so they were definitely more my speed. - Overall, the longest songs were the least enjoyable.
It was good in terms of background music. The instrumentals are beautiful and very jazzy. However, there are no lyrics, which is what I was looking for. Couldn’t listen to this when needing music. Dnf.
I’m just not into pure instrumental music
p42. 1959. 2 stars. Jazz. Technically proficient but soulless and meandering background music. No-one needs multiple +9 minute tracks of improvisation.
jazz, bez teksta, opuštajuće, dobro za rješavanje zadataka iz matke
it was nice, soothing. i found a good song out of playing this album, "it never entered my mind". which is actually on a different album but a win is a win!
I wish I could like jazz. I feel if I could like jazz then this would be good jazz
Haven't I already had this album? Eh, not for me.
I don’t get it
I realize the impact. Miles Davis pushed jazz and ventured into what is known today as modal jazz. To me though I’m more of a Motown, fast pace, swing jazz guy. Overall I liked it but not something I would listen to again unless I’m studying or working.
Почти целый час рандомной игры на трубе - это точно не моё понимание приятной музыки.
Not my thing. 2/5
I know, I know, this one is *the* jazz album that even people who don't get jazz are supposed to like. I've listened to it a couple times a year for a while now, hoping eventually it's something I'll come to get, but it never happens. I tend to give jazz albums an "it's not you, it's me" rating, but I'm not going to do that here. Like, yes, it's me, but it's also that I just like this album a lot less than any of those other random jazz albums that the generator has assigned me over the past year.
jazz is fine for background, but I never really want it to be the main event
Jazz isn't my thing but a couple of the tracks were easy listening. Hes definitely talented. Ideal music to listen to in a smoky jazz club at 3am!
I had this on in the background whilst doing jobs around the house. It annoyed me. I don't like jazz and trumpet sounds just grate on me. My young daughter asked me what on earth I was listening to! I came to rate it 2 stars and then saw how highly rated the album was so thought I should give it another listen. I wish I hadn't. Still 2 stars.
Was good at the time I listened to it, needing to chill in my drive home from work. Still felt a little eclectic and too improvisational at time for me.
Meh
This is not terrible, it's okay background music or like, for a cozy coffee shop/bar. But it's not something I would say I enjoy or would seek out either.
There’s no doubt he’s talented, but you really need to be in the right mood to appreciate this one. It’s not the kind of music I could have on in the background all the time.
Not excited for this one out of the gate. II love blues most of the time but not jazzy-jam-sessions. The artists are excellent at their craft; it's jusst not for me. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): ⭐⭐ Didn't hate it; didn't love it. Saved no tracks.
I feel unqualified to review jazz music because it kind of all sounds the same to me and I don't really like it...
Fínt en ég er ekki alveg nógu jözzuð til að kunna að meta þetta
Blúsaður blús/jazz. Bakgrunnsdæmi. Erfitt að lifa sig almennilega í þetta.
I had it on as background noise, I chose silence instead.
I feel like you've got to be in the mood for jazz, and I wasn't
More restaurant music. OK for jazz.
It's a smooth Jazz album that is personally not to my taste. My brain is too often associating it with elevator/background noise to derive any substance from it at least while working my 9-5 job.
Miles Davis is een legende... maar niet in mijn boek
Sorry but I just dont get jazz. Walked away and came back. Didn't know it was a new song. Im sure people who play instruments really like this
If I could filter out every jazz album I would
Fine background stuff, but just not my thing at all. Its a genre I don't like at all, even if its performed quite well, it just doesn't do anything for me
4/10
Miles Davis: Kind of Blue: Dude is doing John Coltrane dirty, bro is featured on every song!!! Its ok though, because this shit is kinda dull for jazz. Some cool sax moments and such, but there's a lot of repetitive moments that meander through the same sounds for a long time. Its not awful, but I have heard much better jazz. 5/10
After a certain point, all jazz albums just turn into background noise.
Not bad
OK. 2/5
I really wish it had vocals.
Not my cup of tea but you can recognise it is a masterpiece of it's genre.
Don’t like jazz, hard slog
You can't give it a 1 but all that jazz, jeez
This is one of those legendary albums, like Dark Side Of The Moon, Sergeant Pepper, Rumours, Velvet Underground and Nico, or Pet Sounds, that anybody who knows anything about music has heard of. This is peerless in its execution. This is boring bloody bollocks. Jazz is jam band music for people who look down on jam bands. Jam bands are also shit.
It's not musically unpleasant, but it sounds pretty thin. A lack of lyrics is going to be a big issue for me too.
IMO Could have done with some words - which is probably a really poor opinion and not appreciative of it musical achievements. All pleasant enough but need something more
Not for me
Obviously this is regarded as some of the greatest jazz ever but I just can’t do it I’m afraid
Wait, sample packs also count as albums?
grocery store music not my kind of jazz. too depressing
not a jazz fan. I've listened to this before. I want to like it but it's not my thing.
Sort of bland, not really that interesting overall?
it's blues, and he's good at them
Not for me, never got into Jazz at all
I knew this would happen. JAZZ. I realize this album is a Big Deal. And I guess if you’re a jazz musician you probably eat this up, because it was a different approach to tonality, but I don’t know man. Out of context it just sounds like a bunch of dudes playing notes that have nothing to do with each other, while the drummer vamps in the background. There are melodies, I suppose, but they’re boring. And then they solo. And that’s even worse. One of the saxes (I’m guessing it isn’t Coltrane) does have a sense of melody and his solos are actually pleasant to listen to. But most of the soloing here is just Licks, not coherent melody. “Blue in Green” is excellent. But otherwise I really don’t want to listen to this again.
Some of the music is soothing while other songs seem to go on too long.
not my taste, songs too long.
Had to listen to this one twice to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Wikinotes mentions that it could be the most influential album of all time which definitely makes it worthy of the 1001 Must Hear List, but jazz just doesn’t translate for me. Kind Of Blue was kind of annoying. The piano piece during Freddie Freeloader was the least annoying section of the album. I’m hoping that by the time we finish this project I’ll have a better appreciation for jazz. Not there yet. (1.95*s)
This was the best jazz album on the list so far. Unfortunately that is a very low bar to clear. Still not in my wheelhouse but at least it was relatively melodic and smooth as opposed to a jumbled mess. This was a listen during a 5AM drive to work so the tone matched my somber/quiet mood more than it would have had it been an afternoon drive home. Someday I might appreciate this more but its still just another jazz album for me at this point. 1.52 stars
Jazz not my thing. Not one I'll throw on rotation.
I really enjoy exploring jazz and learning about the history of it and all the key players but it’s just not a style of music that I find myself putting on and really enjoying. An album like Kind of Blue is one that I could have on in the background while I’m working in the garage, but it’s not something I’d put on for a road trip. It’s not something I’d go see live, I don’t know it just escapes me. I recognize the talent, maybe I just need to get going down the jazz rabbit.
Not my jam but can appreciate it for what it is
4.5/10 Doesn't evoke any emotion whatsoever.
it was alright!!! only really enjoyed the first two songs. was nice to listen in the background but wouldnt choose to listen again
2-3 jaxz
Not a fan of jazz, but can appreciate a well played instrument. Very conflicted with how to rate this one since I'm not a fan of the genre, but, I can appreciate great execution.
An album of Jazz legends, who are all at the top of their game. Great technical musicians, and have the skills to great improvisationalists. Yet they still can't make me care about jazz. I felt the first songs title was right on the money, it's like 9 minutes of boo BOO boo BOO, though I do like the drum beat behind it. The second song is just riffing on the reverse chord of the first. After that they blended into each other.
A foot tapper, a finger snapper, a wood whacker, and a pea packer. All of these are very good descriptive words while listening along with Miles Davis. The foot just kept going...at least for the first song.... I thought it would keep that vibe going but it definitely slowed down. It got to a point where I wanted to move on from the songs. It's sad really, I really wanted to enjoy this album more, but I just didn't.
It's not that he's not talented but the fast jazz stresses me out. I just not be very sophisticated. I like the slower stuff but I kind of feel like I'm in film noir.
2/5. I can't say the album is bad, it's just not my type of music.
Good but almost a cliche
good but a bit to long for me
nice relaxing jazz but not overly complex
Nice jazz
He is a major giant in the music industry. I just wasn't into it.
Boring. I don't get the appeal at all
Man I don't understand jazz...
Maybe if you like blues this would be good, but I don't like blues.
Jazz. Lovely jazz, but does nothing for me.
#451. More jazz 2/5: I cannot
I really just don’t like jazz. I can see why others love this and some of it was kind of catchy, I just don’t think anything could make me love -0 minute jazz songs.
i did not skip any of these tracks and that is about as high as the praise gets from me on jazz
another Miles Davis album, another time I feel like a classless and uninteresting person because I just don't get it
Pleasant stuff. Easy to listen to apart from when John Coltrane comes in and ruins everything. He should have stayed at home.
Not my style or what I care for
Probably just my ignorance in this kind of music, but I find it really hard to rate these types of albums. Based on my past ratings this is a two or a three. The length is right on from a general perspective, but the sound doesn’t set itself apart enough to distinguish between songs. I listened to this in 3 parts over the course of a day. In the last part I ended up listening to multiple songs over again without even noticing. That’s both a positive in that it flows, but a negative in that maybe it’s not identifiable enough for me to pick out. It’s chill as background music, but so is a random YouTube jazz or lofi playlist. 2 stars.
2 not my kind of blue
As usual, jazz isn't my thing, but I don't hate it
I think we’ve established I don’t like jazz, but this one wasn’t as unpalatable to me as Bitches Brew. Rating: 2
Not for me
Not really a Jazz fan so this album is wasted on me. I’m sure it’s great and can appreciate it’s importance to those that are.
Firstly, I did like this album. There were some sections with atonal or just irregular/seemingly not fitting with the note before parts I didn't much care for, but as a whole, this was enjoyable. Reading the Wikipedia article gives me some insight to maybe why I generally don't care for post-hard bop Miles Davis. I think a lot of this comes from the modal nature of the music instead of the "normal" chord progressions that I'm used to. I'm not a musician, nor do I really know anything about music theory, so I'm not really sure if what I think counts for anything here (and, I suppose, in any of these reviews I leave here for albums...) This was enjoyable and I'm glad I listened. I still don't care for Davis' later work, but I suppose that's my fault for not knowing more about it? I took a second pass at this later in the day, and the off pitch / squawky noises are just not for me. For a while, I'll be enjoying the moments, and then the screechiness comes back and pulls me right out of it. I just can't rate this very high on my personal enjoyability scale. :( 2.5
These are some long songs - 5 songs but a 45 minute album. And it's ok...but I think I just don't like jazz. I've tried for so many years, but I just can't get into it. The long improv riffs do nothing for me. Blue in Green is probably the highlight for me.
I just don’t think this will ever be my kind of music
I’ll give this a mahoosive 2 stars. More than I’ve ever given a Jazz album. This I could tolerate. It was much more accessible to an idiot like me. Quite mellow. Reminded me of watching the TV series ‘Homeland’. The highlight for me was the bit that went Be-doo-be-dum-da-doooo-parrrrrp
Look for those that know about this music and like it it’s probably amazing. Not for me though. Too young still to appreciate this type of music.
ist mir zu hektischer stress-jazz
I didn’t even notice when it finished and started playing another song by another artist. I’m sure it’s great but it’s just background music to me.
I don’t like jazz.
good jazz but also the songs sound samey
Can't do jazz
Not for me
It's background music jazz. Just not my thing :-( 2 stars
Kind of Boring. I’m sure this is an important jazz album, but not being a massive jazz fan it just felt self important
This is not the worst album on this list by far, but it's just background music. Could do with some lyrics of the top of it to make it more memorable and mabye earn it some more stars
Smooth Jazz isn't really my thing. Miles Davis is popular for being a timeless artist, but I just didn't enjoy it–felt like elevator music.
01) So What - 5,5 02) Freddie Freeloader - 4,5 03) Blue In Green - 6,0 04) All Blues - 5,0 05) Flamenco Sketches - 4,5 TOTAL: 5,10 (51/100) Current ranking: 210/224 Miles Davis got the lowest score from me for his "Bitches Brew" album, so I'm curious how he'll do on the resit exam. I repeat, I am aware of the fact that Miles Davis is one of the greatest jazz musicians, and that this album is considered one of the best albums of all time (in 2003 and 2012 it was ranked number 12 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, the rating descended to number 31 in Rolling Stone's revised list in 2020), but I simply don't understand the appeal of jazz. I hate that genre, and I don't like this album. It's so boring and annoying. But still, it seems less irritating than "Bitches Brew", I even kind of like "Blue In Green". Sit down Miles, here's your two stars.
(Uneducated/insulting review coming up) I mean all in all it’s like listening to The Who really. The backing rhythm section are great but the Flash Harrys who get their instruments turned up in the mix are just kind of annoying. Given I’m nearly 50yrs old, I think I’m just genetically disposed to dislike trumpets/sax etc in jazz.
Oh my fuck jazz is boring. It all sounds like elevator hold music. And Miles Davis' music in particular drives me nuts. I know the dude revolutionized jazz, but a trumpet has to be the most annoying sounding instrument ever. Even moreso than bagpipes. This whole album just kind of ran together for me, and I can't really say there was a stand out track on it. It was all just a monotonous jumble of piano, rat a tat drums, and brass instruments. I may have dozed off a few times throughout, but how would you know... Overall, much better than Bitches Brew, but still so far out of my wheelhouse. May be ok as background music in a fancy restaurant, but I would never just sit and listen to a jazz record..... Ever..... Favourite songs: All Blues Least favourite songs: I don't really know.... It all sounded the same, and I didn't really care for any of it. 2/5...i mean, the artists have talent, that's for sure, but it's just so dry...
Some fun to be had here but I'm just not a jazzy boi
Painful
Very good but I like words.
Kinda boring ngl, 2
some nice sax stuff but not much to talk about
Pleasant background noise but a bit boring to me.
Jazz. 🙄
Eh
Bit repetitive
Not a big fan of jazz music. It was objectively good, but it was boring to me sorry
It's not you, it's me. I don't understand jazz
Jazz is not my cup of tea
Ugh. I really wanted to like this but I guess I’m just not that cultured.
Not for me, but at least it doesn’t hurt my ears👍
It's fine incidental music or in an actual jazz club but to just randomly listen to, not really my music. Definitely cool in the right setting.
It seems I am destined to try and 'get' this album every 5 years or so. No luck this time. It still just floats over me without soaking in.
I´m really not into jazz. Even if the album had influenced many musicians and might be instrumental brilliant, for me it´s just background music in a bar. Sorry for that.
I know Miles Davis is one of the greatest etc etc yada yada but this stuff just boooooores me so.... Shoot me I guess. Grudging 2 stars
Jeg var ikke helt oppe og støde. Det er ikke dårligt, det er bare svært at sætte pris på noget som jeg ikke forstår. Det er på samme tid heller ikke muligt at hade det. Bare lidt undervældene.
Boring Origin of elevator music Sax overshadowed trumpet
# 148 : Kind of sound you'd find in one of those hidden bars down the end of the alley way. Good Bourbon, Good cigar, Good Jazz music. Still, I could listen to it, but Jazz just isn't for me, Thanks. Fav Track : Freddie Freeloader
I’ve just never been that into this album
I don't really like jazz that much and I just don't get the hype of Davis. A 2 I guess. It has its moments but I was mostly snoozing while listening (not literally)
Decent but boring
Not a jazz fan, but Miles Davis's skills on the trumpet are amazing. s
at least not long, but meh really
1. zo uuhat - 1 2. freddie freeloader - 2 3. blue in green - 3 4. All blues - 1 5. Flamenco sketches. - 2
The horn is just a little too abrasive and choppy for my taste. Okay in small doses but not over a whole album.
This solidifies it for me, one of the best jazz albums of all time and all i wanted to do was skip every song. Cant do it, just dont like jazz
Just cannot get into jazz. It's just people dicking around on instruments.
going into this, I do not like jazz. it sounds like the individual members of the band do not like each other and did not agree on what to play before they started recording. in So What the trumpet is high skill for sure, it's cool sounding, but it doesn't do much for me. I am about halfway through Freddie freeloader and I am getting a little sick of this! doing homework while listening and idk if it's making it easier or harder. blue in green isn't that bad actually! it is a lot more mellow and relaxing. reminds me of a more subdued scene from monsters Inc. on all blues now, don't love this one very much. sounds very similar to the first 2 songs. flamenco sketches I do not care for.
I just don't get jazz. I can listen to a couple of minutes and then I just want to listen to something else.
2,5
With Bitches Brew and In A Silent Way I understood the praise - I could recognise some pretty wild experimentation and some pretty alluring sounds. With this, I don’t - it just sounds like jazz. Maybe it was so influential that all subsequent jazz music copied it, and that’s why I can’t tell the difference? The music also had no emotional impact, except to occasionally depress me (and not in the good way that music sometimes does). Flashbacks to my 14 year old self toiling through a piece that sounded a lot like Freddie Freeloader during a saxophone lesson might be influencing me here…
Music you hear in a hotel bar drinking overpriced drinks
not in a great mood wasnt feeling jazz
i don't really care that much for jazz it seems, it's like cool good stuff but i don't enjoy listening to it myself, i did enjoy some of his other work like in a silent way so maybe it's just this kind of jazz? guess i need to listen to more sometime
Hmm... Respectable music I suppose but jazz just isn't my thing.
great background music, but not really something I would sit and listen too. not bad, just not my thing
Not my type of music. Still, pleasant enough and miles Davis is a very talented musician. It just comes down to preference. (60%).
Kind of sleepy, nothing special. Sounds like music playing in a old coffee shop.
Just not for me at all I’m sure it’s very accomplished but I don’t get jazz
Background music. Can’t get into it!
I just do not get this.
Kind of sleepy. Heard this one before, but Bitches Brew is far superior.
It's jazz. Not bad, but really not my thing. Did not finish
I just can't get into jazz. Stop giving me Miles Davis albums...
It's a pretty cool album with outstanding musicianship, but at the end of the day, it's still jazz.
Not the biggest fan of music without vocals plus I am familiar with another Miles Davis album which I prefer to this one.
I'm sorry, but I just can't imagine ever wanting to listen to this again. There are pleasant moments, but I just can't get onboard. I tried this album ages ago and my opinion is consistent.
I just don’t like jazz
Nice slow jazz album
Don’t like jazz
Eh, I prefer this over the sound of everyone tuning on top of each other for twenty minutes at a time, but Miles Davis continues to prove to me that I don't get jazz. I just don't understand what makes this so amazing. Often it is boring more than anything, and with how long winded each song can be, it can even be annoying. I could see enjoying this in the moment at a club or something, but just listening? Total bore. Nice piano playing, though.
yeah no thanks
I'm so happy I just disccovered spotifys option to choose other releases. I don't think i could listen to two hours of Jazz in the legacy edition. Also I just prefer to listen to the records how the were orignally released. It's okay, not for me tho.
Yuh this was a yuh / 10 (2/5)
Too jazzy
Came for the bangers. Bored from the rest
I apologise in advance, and I know that to many jazz fans this is heresy, but PLEASEEEEEEE MR GENERATOR STOP GIVING ME MILES DAVIS ALBUMSSSSSSSSSSSS I HATE THEM SOOOOO MUCH PLEASE PLEASE LET ME ESCAPE FROM THIS HELL THAT I AM IN I FEEL LIKE ILL NEVER ESCAPE THE JAZZ AND THE ONLY KIND OF JAZZ I LIKE IS SWINGGGGGGG The last minute or two of ‘Freddie Freeloader’ was pretty good, but 45 minutes of this kind of jazz feels like 500 years of any other genre
Hard pass.
I’m not smart enough to distinguish between this and elevator music
15.06.2023
Bit too slow for me
This album is well played, but it’s just not for me.
This Is Why - Paramore = 4 C’est Comme Ça is the only reason it’s not 5 stars
Fine for jazz but not my vibe
Jazz for people who don't like jazz - the Eminem Show of jazz. Smooth shit but have to be in the mood.
songs too long. not my cup of tea.
I think jazz is just wasted on me.
Mmmmmm..jaazzz
Just not for me. Would I like to sit on a dim room with a few in an audience and watch this live? Most definitely but the effect just doesn’t work the same for this type of music whilst wearing headphones in my pyjamas I can’t give it one star because I appreciate the sounds and I do picture a scene when I listen to it so that counts for something
This was my first time listening to jazz, and it wasn't really to my taste.
This may be the greatest Jazz album ever recorded.
A very talented artist for sure, but sadly not my type of music.
I know I'm supposed to like this album. People lose their shit over it all the time. I just didn't care, and I found it completely boring. It's just not for me, and I'll take the hit for not being able to appreciate it.
Last miles Davis album I said was some jazz and made me feel like gale from breaking bad. That again
Mid
So what är ju jäkligt bra. I övrigt, nej.
Not my kind of thing
It's not my style, but it's a really good listen of course.
Zondagochtendmuziek. Voor jazz is het nog best relaxed, niet zo zenuwachtig.
Elevator music. I can appreciate the talent but not for me
Keiharde Jazz! Niet mijn ding, maar best strak uitgevoerd. **
Jazz meh
Listening in background Jazz just isn't my thing to listen to intently 2/5
Jazzy
2/5 This is the first jazz album I've ever listened to and it must be an acquired taste, because I really didn't enjoy it. Jarring and anxiety inducing. I feel bad giving it two stars, but I hope that later on I can appreciate it for what it is and give it a higher rating that I'm sure it deserves.
Saxofonista con mayúsculas. Con canciones melancólicas y con el ritmo habitual. Hay que ser alguien muy entendido para apreciarlo en su totalidad. En mi opinión, no es un estilo que me guste y siempre lo notaré falto de algo más
Nettlesome~
Not really my thing
listened to a song and a bit. stopped listening after that
I just don't like jazz. Couldn't listen to the whole thing.
So _this_ is what they play on my local classical/jazz FM station when they make the switch at 6PM. Our family always dubbed it 'noisy jazz'o'clock' and had a laugh. "Blue in Green" is an excellent noir track, but the rest of the album is stereotypical unstructured jazz with complex chords, tones, measures and bars that don't usually sound 'pleasant' while still being technically competant.
Finis la complaisance, fous toi ta trompette dans le cul Miles.
I’m no jazz aficionado and the album sounded like one long track. It was a mellow sound and clearly he was a great musician but not really for me so I’m going to be hard and say 2*
No disrespect but I felt like I was at panera
I want to have a gin martini. Two olives. I want to people watch. Or have a classy conversation with a sophisticated lady. Or do my taxes. Or listen to this album while listening to this album.
i understand that he is an incredibly influential jazz player and his music is very very impressive but it’s never been for me. jazz in general is just not appealing because there’s nothing i can do with it. i understand why other people like it and i will hopefully grow to like it but as of now no.
There isn't anything I don't particularly like, but it's not connecting with me for some reason. Not compelled to re-listen or seek out more.
Objectively a classic, but not my bag. Felt stuffy, although it originated as the opposite, I'm sure.
Just felt like some background music to me more than anything, didn't really do much for me.
Lively jazz, and some expert level trumpet playing, but nothing really stood out
Not the first time I've listened to this album. I didn't disenjoy it, but I don't really get it. It sounds alright. Flamenco Sketches was the best bit. On the whole though, it sounds like elevator music to me, inoffensive, mild, not unpleasant... but it doesn't move me. Again I wonder if I'm perhaps just not smart enough for jazz?
not my genre
Too slow for me
It was okay.
I get it, but it’s not for me
Nice to have on in the background, not my cup of tea
not for me!
Am sure it was influential not my thing though
guess i just don't like miles davis?
It's good jazz. If you like jazz then here you go.
The music was fine, just a little slow for my taste.
Binkety bonkety tootlepops. Couldn’t get into it.
I can't give this album a 1/5 because I'm saving that for albums I feel are actively bad and not deserving to be on the list, and this album DEFINITELY deserves to be here. I feel like most of the songs blended together and it was soothing, but it didn't really do much for me. "So What" was my favorite track. Hope we encounter more Jazz soon.
Nice, but not my type of music
I can't listen to jazz
njä, inte för mig för. för mycket osammanhängade blipblop-melodier.
i dont get jazz
Niet om aan te horen. Hou niet van jazz. Niet kunnen afluisteren.
Still not a fan of jazz
mind numbingly boring
In a sea off 5's be a one. Jazz puts years on you. I no longer buy into not intellegent enough to understand jazz. It just boring and ridiculous. Loud booty boops then some low booty boops. Tracks start end and start and you are none the wiser as to when.
Full of trumpets and I don’t just mean the instruments
i found it slightly irritating to listen to. reminds me of the grove.
did not make myself finish it. it's like cilantro - I can see why some people like it a lot, but it doesn't work for me.
musica de fondo para dormir
I'm really not a jazz guy, but lets dive in anyway So What is the opener, which meanders around for nine minutes but never seems to go anywhere The next one does the same, just for slightly longer Same for track three, just slower this time Track four creates some tension with the opening piano part, getting my hopes up a little . . . but no 45 minutes of foreplay, then Miles leave the room
Not for me
Nothing will ever get me to like jazz. I hate brass instruments, but I especially hate the trumpet. The trumpet hurt my ears in the last song. I did not enjoy this.
Not my jam - too jazzy
0/5 bekannt 3/10 Beste Songs: so what, Blue in Green, all blues Immer noch zu viel Jazz
not very original man
Fuck off with your jazz. Just background music
Coffee shop music
1 out of 5 I am not cultured or something because this was not for me. It is too bad because I understand he is the greatest but this music did not do it for me.
Apparently, I do *not* like jazz
too many songs bro
boring
No lo escuché x,d
Just not my thing
I understand why people like it, but it's just not my thing.
Terrific album
Jazz again. No thanks.
I once heard jazz delightfully be referred to as “musical wanking” and… yep.
Tried listening many times over the years. I don't get it.
Miles Davis is an amazing musician, I'm just not that into instrumental jazz. Best song: So What
I've tried to "get" this record so many times. Having it play in the background while I do other things, playing it while driving, just sitting and focusing on the music as it plays, I just don't get it. It doesn't resonate with him. I understand while Miles gets the respect he does, I understand technically why this record gets the adulation it does, but I just don't feel it.
A really long and boring jazz album, almost put me to sleep. No standout songs for this one. I don’t like sitting down and listening to a jazz album. I feel like I’m waiting. And waiting for what? Nothing. Just for it to be over.
Fuck rating albums. Just let me listen.
I do not like jazz
After listening to this album, I can confidently say: I still don’t like jazz.
severely old vibes still cool but jazzy and long and irritating - worse than others, not as bad as 2, acc idk might be worse, 1/2 stars icl, appreciate the repetition with a little change tho... sorry miles davis
It's past time for jazz to be cancelled.
Jazzy trumpets do my head right in.
Don't like
not rly my vibe
Ugh, noodling jazz at is most noodling.
Can't hack jazz. Really tried but found it unlistenable. I know this is a personal thing though.
nije moj fazon
Oh joy! More Jazz. I've never got the point of this style of Jazz.
Yes, this is jazz. It is very famous and well-respected. I feel bad rating jazz albums because of how much I do not ever want jazz in my ears. Mr. Davis was very good at jazz.
Not my cup of tea at all.
Incredibly boring, every song sounded the same too. There’s just not much to even talk about
Just don't get it... No discernable rhythm that I can hear.... Really struggling to understand it... What's the big deal????
Not my kind of music
Jazz is just not really for me. I can appreciate the musicianship and the influence this album has had, but as a listening experience it does very little for me. It feels slow and meandering, and I struggle to stay engaged. I know this is considered one of the greatest albums ever recorded, but it simply does not connect with me. There is no doubt the playing is technically superb, and you can hear the skill and restraint in every note. It is just not a sound or style that moves me in the way rock or soul does. Favourite song: I genuinely could not pick one that stood out. Least favourite: The overall experience felt dull to me. Album artwork: A fairly standard jazz cover, understated and serious, much like the music itself
This doesn't register as music to me. I was playing it, loud, on my commute this morning. About 10 minutes into my drive I realised I was bopping along to a song and singing to myself. It was a completely different song by a different artist from a different era. This album is so bereft of anything that I consider music that my brain tried to fill the space where music should be. I value lyrics, melody, and texture. This music is so incredibly bland it's the kind of music you put on in the background when you don't want anyone to notice there's music playing.
Meh
Didn’t ever got going, which I understand is the point but I needed a kick somewhere.
Fuck jazz
Jazz, aburrido
I wonder if suicide rates got higher when this came out
I ALREADY RATED THIS YOU IDIOTS
