Reviews (page 2 of 11)

Obviously the child of Sly and Jimi but also a build-up of a decade of finding that particular Clinton P-Funk sound and bringing it to its big anarchic, jammy, grooved-to-hell-and-back form, in turn clearly inspiring so much more down the line (lot of stuff which sounds like the backbone of later rnb and rap naturally). Long tracks that stay entertaining, so many funny vocal sections (I’m more than childish enough to enjoy the things that come through in Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad) and an all round richness of instrumentation as it bounces from genre to genre (Who Says A Funk Band Can’t Rock obviously a main album high of this, but the bonus tracks, especially the live version of Maggot Brain, are wild on guitar). I’m sure if you don’t like funk it’s more to wash over you, but then again - who doesn’t like funk?

this album was insane, so so fun. FAVS: the doodoo chasers, one nation under a groove, maggot brain

It's very good. Funk plus psychedelia. What more do you want people?

The funk.

straight into it. Fucking awesome

Really good.

These songs really are infectious and probably should come with a warning: prolonged exposure may result in involuntary head-nodding, elevated mood, and an urgent need to evangelise funk to everyone you meet. An album that turns joy into a statement — and makes it feel effortless. https://open.spotify.com/album/2gt6FGN1qqqG4fUGnwdNKU?si=8e2A-ARtTguwCpZ1S_biKQ

4.5 - Simply awesome. The version I listened to on YouTube had a live recording of Maggot Brain that melted my face off.

Love it. Love the Funk

Funky groovy perfection

In funk we trust! (One time Bootsy Collins knocked off my glasses with his belt buckle)

#370 / 1089 Heard before? ✅ Revisit? ✅ I love this album. 5/5

america's greatest rock band at their peak? more and more are saying it

I thought this was fun!

Who says a funk band can't play rock? Funkadelic for president!!

Sadly this album doesn’t seem to be available on the streaming services. Only found it on YouTube. Fantastic. Best Funk I've ever heard.

that was so fun!!!!

Possibly the best funk album ever.

Annoying that it isn’t available on normal platforms, but still worth the effort to track down because it’s a classic.

Super funky groove, ending by a bitching guitar... very cool

One of the few Fukadelic albums I've never heard! As a big fan I'm loving it already, such a tight band with really cool guitar work and George Clinton, come on not much more to say! Got a nice special live version of Maggot Brain on the end, Eddie Hazels guitar masterpiece!

Legendary Some of the best to ever do it

Groovadelic!!!

4.5/5 Funkadelic asked themselves how many times they could reasonably say the word Funk in a song. The answer was “Yes!”

who says a funk band can't play rock? 5/5

And in the 8th day, God made Funkadelic.

I was very excited to see this album come up today. It's one I've been aware of for a very long time, but have never listened to. I was initially dismayed when I could not find it on Spotify or Apple Music, but thankfully it was on YouTube. While not the best way to listen (for me) it was good enough. And it was worth the wait. What a very cool and, yes funky, album. It was raw and rocking and even beautiful at times. It is so clear to see where Prince got a lot of inspiration, especially with the guitar playing. Standout songs were the title track, Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock, and Into You (loved this!).

This wasn’t on Spotify so I listened to Tales of Kidd Funkadelic instead. It was so fucking fire. Funkadelic is so genuinely one of the best to ever do it. George Clinton deserves to have his dick sucked to infinity.

Funk yeah muthafunka! Funkin' funktastic!!!1 Overall though, I found it to be quite delightful.

no full album on Spotify

Not as good as Maggot Brain, but still so great.

Can’t so better than this

I liked it. Had a very nice vibe

first off let me say. fucking loved this. wow. i really love funk music it seems but this also was a strong rock album! second, this album isn't on tidal (current subscription) and wasn't on spotify either (not subscribed) so i had to resort to youtube. so it's likely that i won't listen to this again bc of the inconvenience. but this was an incredible album

FUNKKKKK

Wow. Incredible album, loved it on first listen!! Banger after banger and to end it (technically a bonus track) with the Maggot Brain solo…🤌. I gotta break my rule of -1 if the album isn’t on Spotify for this one

I have a new drinking game. Drink every time they say/sing the word “funk.” Oops I’m dead of alcohol poisoning. 💀 Kidding aside, this was great! Some of the jam sections would fit right in with some of my favorite Goose jams. Part funk, part psychedelic rock, all fun. 9/10 Outstanding

I pledge a groovallegiance to the funk

grooovy

Insanely good album. I was already familiar with Bernie Worrell and Bootsy Collins (through Worrell's work with the Talking Heads, and Collins just by reputation as a bass guitar legend), but not really listened to much from the P-Funk collective beyond Maggot Brain and some of Mothership Connection. The grooves and solos throughout this album are so damn good, I can just completely look past the often nonsensical lyrics. 9/10.

That last solo is incredible

Love the guitars, grooves, all-around vibes. Absolutely incredible musicianship.

5 fuckin stars ⭐️

Le funk c’est pas mal tjrs 5. Dommage qu’il faille subir youtube!

Oh hell yes. Funky (duh) and with a great political message as well. What more can I ask for?

En fest og så varieret. Jeg skal måske tilbage og høre Maggot Brain igen for den her var en klar 5/5

I can't believe this isn't streaming anywhere so many of these songs would be found on my playlists. Luckily enough I found a record in my dads collection which is 10x better than whatever version was on youtube. PE squad is awesome

This is just funky, psychedelic, weird, and experimental in all the right ways. Absolutely loved it! While listening to Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doo Doo Chasers), I realized that Funkadelic is the band that Frank Zappa would have formed if he was influenced by funk instead of classical music. It’s a shame licensing disputes keeps albums off streaming, but all the more reason for me to go find this one on vinyl.

Can't get around it, it's a masterpiece.

Spotify wouldn’t load the album so I listened to Mothership instead. Still giving 5 stars because I love funk!

music probably didn't peak on this album, but for a split second on side A i was thinking, "hold on... wait...". and side B certainly does enough to not knock the groove. the second disc is more mixed, but Lunchmeataphobia has a really killer riff and some fat proto-acid house squelching. deserves to be one of the 1001? yeah dummy. sorry for calling you dummy.

so cool

One of the best, most joyous and technically sound albums I’ve ever heard. Such a pleasure.

This is obviously gold, because everything that George Clinton does is gold. Even when he's not putting in his best work, he's still better than most. This record was rad. I liked how it trended a little more R&B than Funk, but what really tied it together was the guitar. The guitar solos are almost too much, but they happen so much that it just kind of takes you space every time. Who says that a funk band can't play rock??

Awesome

Search for the G funk

Although they are hardly unknown, Funkadelic is certainly one of the all time under-recognized great bands. I had a Fishbone record recently and referred to Fishbone and RHCP and safe to say both are likely more widely known than Funkadelic, even though both owe their existence to Clinton and crew and neither should be mentioned in the same sentence. This record is one of their strongest, but I can't think of a weak one. It falls short of Maggot Brain and maybe Cosmic Slop, but it's still in stacked with great tracks and killer performances

This is one of the greatest funk albums ever produced… and tragically, as of this writing this album and the rest of Funkadelic’s Warner Bros.-era catalog (especially this album and its follow-up Uncle Jam Wants You) is still not available for download or streaming. Whoever has the rights to the WB-era Funkadelic albums, pull your head out of the sand and release these albums back to the world where they belong!

Only on YouTube!! Gotta keep an eye out for this vinyl. Funkadelic is the best.

MUY BUEN ALBUM la verdad no me lo esperaba asi pero no me ha decepcionado practicamente nada, lo tengo que escuchar otra vez, pero la putada es que no esta en spotify y eso me jode mucho Nota 5/4

One of the greatest examples of funk ever produced, with surprisingly shredding guitar solos. Never gets old.

Holy shit. Love P-Funk, but there's a few albums I've missed due to them not streaming. Was eager to listen so hit up YouTube and struggled through ads 'n shit to listen. Worth it and gat-damn! Fuckin' weird-ass shit on this one, with moments that feel downright cultish. Whole thing is thick 'n grooving. Thick 'n psychedelic too. Weird one even for Funkadelic, but also groovy as fuck. Def gonna be getting this one on vinyl.

The funkiest thing that's probaly ever been recorded. This is an absolute joy to listen to. Unbelievable guitar playing. Instrumentation is so tight, lively, inventive and just really really fun. There is so much joy in this and range, from upbeat to slower and more pensive. Wild lyirics. I would genuinely give a kidney to be at a George Clinton gig in the 70s

I've already listened to his album (31). Great to re-listen! I've always been more of a Parliament fan but Funkadelic have some hidden gems (like the bass solo on Groovallegiance, absolutely divine). It's too bad that this album is not on Spotify.

soul train from beetlejuice soundtrack

I pledge a groovallegiance to the funk

Funkadelic keeps on being amazing, no dud in this tracklist with constant highs. The live version of maggot brain is amazing as expected. We want the funk!

This is a clear five. What a fun album! I'm a big rap fan, so it is always nice to hear music that rap producers heavily sampled from. I loved that Funkadelic leaned into rock on this one.

P funk at its absolute best. What a fantastic ride. And the companion EP was also fantastic.

In funkadelic we trust

It's funkadelic.

It’s great fun(k)! The tracks are long and a little too jammy for my personal groove, but there’s nothing not to love. I’ll take this over another Byrds or Eno album any day.

jesus christ i love these guys. super fun to go off spotify - feels like im really digging into sound when i do so and not deferring to routine. and what a sound to dig into. it's just groovy!

"We have been going to this same party every night for 47 years, and in no way is that pathetic!" That sounds like a joke but I'm serious: this may be my favorite funk album ever and a sonic building block for the last half-century of pop music as a whole (as well as a reminder that it was total bullshit to re-segregate pop music in the late 70s and thereby cut off the cross-pollination of genres on display here). Slash should buy Mike Hampton a house.

Awesome, but hard to find a place to stream.

For the most successful Funkadelic record it's weird that it's not available to stream, no? My son loves James Brown and we were talking about soul and rock the other day and I was saying how incredible it is that Rock Music, invented by Black people, from Sister Rosetta Thorpe to Big Mama Thornton to Chuck Berry and all the way through Jimi Hendrix, is now considered a White Sound. The scene including the modern Black shredder in Sinners encapsulated that, in a movie about White people literally sucking the life out of an entire culture. So, I loved the fact that the biggest hit on this is "Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?!" and the lead guitar is as good as anything anyone from Hendrix to...I dunno...every white kid that wanted to BE Hendrix ever tried. Does it lose a little steam toward the end? Umm...yeah. But I think that's also by design. It's a record from the 70s. You are supposed to lose yourself in this thing, not sit and critically review it for some stupid blog.

Man I'm craving ice cream...

Those rythms are always a pleasure to listen to. The bass and the scent of Jamaican roots make this album a jewel.

Masterpiece, could not help but funk dance on the train from Oslo to Ålesund

'Here's a chance to dance our way / Out of our constrictions.' If you ever needed proof that funk was our very best salubrious and patriotic wager, One Nation Under A Groove would be your decisive testimony: 'W/ the united funk we can fly.' I'd press you to take them seriously: imagine what national politics could achieve under a groove rather than aligned w/ shitty powers [see '...(The Doo-Doo Chasers)']. Yes, the songs are jumbo, but for once the avant-garde - b/c that's what they really are ('Fried Ice Cream is a reality!') - is for fun and wholeness rather than masturbatory chops + licks. And don't get it twisted, it's one of the all-time rock records: 'We're gonna rock and roll the crowd / Just watch them dance, watch them dance.'

This isn't just an album, this is a complete experience. I haven't listened every Parliament / Funkadelic album there is, but this seems to be regarded as their last great album. And what a great album it is. It's like a blend of everything learned from their past years as a group, combined with new influences like Disco. The added live parts bring this album to life even more so. I also think the Maggot Brain performance here is better than the version on the album of the same name. What a brilliant album, I wish it were even longer.

easily a Manifesto to groove.

I would rate it 6 if I could

I'm always happy to listen to Funkadelic, they may be a funk band but they have to be one of the greatest bands to blend genres, there a rock guitar solos on this that will blow your mind, it's funky and soulful and just a happy album.

surpreendentemente muito bom, muito divertido. Maggot Brain/Chant foi a melhor, mas em geral, músicas muito boas.

Top tier funk. Essential!

I've said it before - the Funk never fails. And Funkadelic is the top of the Funk Pyramid. I'd give Maggot Brain an edge over One Nation, but that may just be personal taste. There's no filler on this one, either.

I think my favorite part of Funk music is the continuous running trend of just about every song bluntly stating “You are listening to Funk. This is Funky. We Funk. Funk.” as if it isn’t the most obvious thing in the world. Man, I wanted to just give this a low rating and move on out of spite because it isn’t on Spotify. I imagined it just couldn’t possibly be that good. I was terribly, catastrophically wrong. This is Psychedelic Funk Soul Rock and at the same time, it’s genuinely funny. Unfortunately, I was listening to it without knowing the names of the songs, as again it wasn’t on Spotify, but any of the songs with extended psychedelic jams were my favorites. Those just absolutely rocked and it’s an outright SHAME that this was as hard to find as it was!!!! This one wasn’t just Funky. It was outright Funkalicious. Another Funky banger. A 5/5. Just praying this doesn’t become a trend of albums not being on any of the streaming services like this one. Docking it a point for being hard to find would just be petty of me, and I just can’t do that knowing how good this album is from top to bottom unfortunately.

I don’t think it’s their best but still an infectious album.

encantada

I guess this is technically considered a "late" era Funkadelic/Parliament (honestly, idk the difference) album, and you really can tell that they had mastered the art of P-funk by this point in their career. While I do love how ambitious and ahead of the curve their seminal 'Maggot Brain' is, the tracks on this album present a level of slickness that just isn't there in their earlier works, at least not to this degree. The way the band locks into these polyrhythmic and erratic grooves is hypnotizing in ways rivaled by very few. And the vocals are so smooth, lightly coasting on the airtight grooves here like they're nothing - never overpowering the rest of the music. The vocals are also super diverse on this record, like each song is sung from the perspective of some new wacked out character in this Funkadelic universe. The opening title track is one of the band's best tracks right off the bat, just the perfect funk song that creates specific itches just so it can scratch them. The following 'Groovallegiance' has this almost psychedelic reggae feel to it, but it's the vocal layering and harmonization that really make this song stand out in the mix here. It also has maybe the best build-up on the whole album. And I'm sorry, 'Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock!?' gives like Fishbone 3rd wave Ska vibes - but with those classic Funkadelic sing-along group vocals. 'Lunchmeatophobia' also gives off this vibe, with some incredibly heavy and dirty guitar playing driving the whole thing. Also, that goddamn Enema song is one of the most wacked out insane things I've ever heard - on both the vocal and lyrical front. And I kind of love everything about it; my favorite line has to be "Fried Ice Cream is a reality" because yes. ALSO, this album has a live version of the song 'Maggot Brain' as it turns out, and it maintains all the emotional power of the classic original, though with a bit more pizzazz. While I prefer the simplicity of the original, the song itself is too good, so I can appreciate this more textured take on it. This thing kicks so much ass it hurts - I need to own this shit and spin it for the rest of my life. This band is 2/2 so far on this list, but I also felt like that'd be the case anyway. Until next time, Funkadelic.

Finally, a politcaly movement I can get behind. One Nation, Under A Groove, Indivisible, with liberty and FUNK for all.

This is a treat. Super easy to listen to, super catchy, super fun.

1001 Albums Challenge (19/1001) 1. One Nation Under A Groove (5/5) 2. Groovallegiance (5/5) 3. Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?! (5/5) 4. Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doo Doo Chasers) (5/5) 5. Into You (5/5) 6. Cholly (Funk Getting Ready To Roll!) (5/5) 7. Maggot Brain/Chant (Think It Ain't Illegal Yet!) (5/5) 8. Lunchmeataphobia (Think! It Ain't Illegal Yet!) (5/5) 9. P.E. Squad/Doo Doo Chasers (5/5) Total (5/5)

Wonderful Funk album. You can't beat this one. Solid all the way through. The world is alright as long as we have Bootsy Collins. My Rating: 5/5

A standout soul album with smooth grooves, silky vocals, and a bassline that pulls you in. The rock-influenced guitars and punchy drums add extra edge, making it more than just classic soul. A perfect entry point for anyone curious about the genre. 9/10.

This album is like a tailgate party before an LA Rams game in the 70s. The game doesn't kick off for a few hours, but the crowds have made their way to the carpark outside the stadium nice and early to get hyped for the game. There are about eighteen different barbeques cooking burgers and pork chops within a three hundred metre radius, and every car boot has a chilly bin filled with beers in it. People walk from car to car, sharing a beer and a yarn with people they have never met before and will never speak to again after the game. The crowd is a diverse cross section of all that Los Angeles has to offer. Suburban families, low-level street criminals, LSD-fuelled hippes, Silicon Valley tech-bros, crack heads who aren't going to the game but love the chance to scab a beer are all mingling together amongst each other. Obviously these people wouldn't normally look twice at each other, but their local sports team has brought them together into a short-term community, and they are enjoying every moment of it.

Funky funky funky ass music!

And on the last day god took a little bit of Bob Marley, some Jimi Hendrix, a dollop of James Brown and a powerful dilution of Andre 3000. And he looked upon his creation and he saw that it was good. He saw that it was VERY good. He called his creation One Nation Under A Groove. But he was a jealous god and he feared that his subjects would turn instead to and worship the false god George Clinton. So he hid his creation away, far from the greedy eyes of Youtube Music subscribers. But the people were not deterred and they seeked out Funkadelic, and they listened, and they swooned in joyous rapture. And it was good, very good.

I love this weird ass shit. FEET DONT FAIL ME NOW.

If you don't like this album, you're a doo doo chaser!

I loved, it’s perfect, it is exactly what I need

Wow! That was fantastic. I'd only heard greatest hits compilations of Funkadelic before but this album completely took me on a trip away from the grey evening here while I endure another bout of covid. I'll be buying a vinyl copy of the album for myself this week. Magical.

Way back on Day 8 of this project I generated Maggot Brain by Funkadelic and it blew my mind, the title track literally gave me goosebumps. I had actually forgotten they had another album on the list so I was genuinely excited to see this pop up today and it did not disappoint. This is an absolute BANGER of an album. It’s too early to say if I rate it as highly as Maggot Brain but it’s definitely going to be close. Top Track - Who Says A Funk Band Can’t Play Rock?

The source.

I pledge allegiance, to the funk

Couldn't listen to it via streaming. But sure I would've loved it.

who says a jazz band can't play funk? funkgroovylatenightvibesandrhythms weird versions on Spotify, will have to pick up on CD. One Nation Under A Groove is undoubtedly one of the best songs of all time. 4.5* but will round up, would happily return at any point.

Interesting

Great funk. Great grooves. I'm all about this!

A parade of funk. It’s hard not to move sitting at my desk. Gotta get this on YouTube, I'm bummed I can't add these songs to my playlist.. Views (lol): 3 Playlist Candidates: - One Nation Under a Groove - Groovallegiance - Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?! - Into You - Cholly (Funk Getting Ready To Roll!)

Great. Except maybe the lyrics. That's not what it's about.

Music with movement

Beautiful funky goodness

This was refreshing. There's so much going on here, so much to take in. I considered giving it a 4, but there's something so unique about this record. It's a 5 for sure

Funkadelic are always 5-star

Крутая группа но сложно слушать на данный момент

I funked everywhere

Eddie hazel's guitar solo

So many goated albums in a row leaves me feeling doomed to punishment like we're about to get meatloaf or smth. Phenomenal album, when they lean into rock its truly excellent. 9/10

Great album, only downside is it’s hard to find. Had to go to YouTube to listen. Apparently there’s a licensing beef

just amazing

I am really only familiar with Funkadelic in name, and know I have heard them playing just around many times for years. This album was killer, really got in to it, and the funk is not really my thing.

❤️

o lawd we be funking. Had to have an echocardiogram where they spoon you for about 20 minutes. This got me through

Frozen ice cream is a reality

5 stars just for Eddie Hazel's solo on Maggot Brain

Que álbum funk bom demais!! Muito bom para ouvir. One Nation Under a Groove, Maggot Brain, Into You, Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis. Muitas músicas boas. Maggot Brain me lembrou Jimi Hendrix e consequentemente, John Frusciante.

Yeah baby!

funky with a message. Some seriously good vibes here. Not much else to say! Still pretty great for a 1977 release!

Very funky, very political, songs about doo doo. What’s not to love (other than the album being impossible to find)!

I LOVE Funk! A great tune and album!!!

First impression pre listen: I've been known to dabble in some occasional Funkadelic from time to time. The title track from this album probably being my favourite from them. Jammy, dancy funk music is usually right up my alley. This will in all likelyhood be a good experience. Individual track notes: One Nation Under a Groove Seriously one of my favourite song ever recorded. Has the perfect amount of dynamism, variety and buildup. It's catchy, infrctious and danceable. Love the whole rhythm section especially here. Would also like to mention the character, charisma and stylishness of the vocal performances here. Sounds like an entire party. Fantastic. 5/5 Groovallegiance Entertainingly weird. Love the loose structure of the track, especially the extended jam section at the end. Has moments where the vocals are soulful and powerful. Great bass and guitar, especially in the jammier section. The psychedelic flavour serves the track well. Love the keyboard at the end. Fantastic. 5/5 Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?! That was sort of surreal, like a long lost classic from another world. The guitar playing absolutely shreds, and the repeated melody of the chorus is perhaps the catchiest thing ever produced. It's fun, has amazing energy and definitely rocks. Fantastic. 5/5 Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doo Doo Chasers) This is pure condensed insanity. That being said: FRIED ICE CREAM IS A REALITY. Didn't think a song with so much literal SHIT in it could sound so good. Love the contrast of the almost angelic main vocals against whatever the batshit spoken word was doing. On all accounts an interesting experience. Gorgeous guitar playing too. Fantastic. 5/5 Into You Hypnotic fun and strange. Has a great selection of interesting voices and vocal performances. Love the subtle psychedelia of the track. The repetition almost had me in a trance like state by the end. Great. 4.5/5 Cholly (Funk Getting Ready To Roll!) A return to a more classic style. Love the tightness of the instrumentation. Catchy chorus and a voice that's full of character on the main vocals. Love the bass on this track. Great. 4.5/5 Final review: Gold all the way through. Perfect for when you want something funky, fun and full of humour. It's brilliantly unique, with interesting song structures and great jams. Love how rhythmic and smooth it is, while leaving space from unpredictable and even silly moments. It has great basslines, amazing guitars and a varied selection of distinct vocals. Always an entertaining experience with plenty of replayability. You'll have to look long and hard to find something more passionate, stylish and free. 5/5

Outstanding. Tremendous work.

I would like to thank the 1001 Albums Generator for helping me discover that I love funk.

Amazing vibes, love funkadelic

Amazing album. Enjoyed it from top to bottom. Multiple moments from the album will be stuck in my head for a while, from the groovy instrumentals to funk rock lines and solos to ridiculous one-liners that may become part of my everyday lexicon. Music to get you shit together by. One Nation Under a Groove might be a perfect song. So many pieces working at the same time creating a big wall of sound for you to dance to. I love that here and throughout the album the chorus tends to be a bunch of individual voices having a good time instead of a tight artificial harmony. I loved the sort of rebellious nature of Who Says Funk Bands Can't Make Rock. Funkadellic is going to play what they like and you are going to like it. I was thrown off by Doo Doo Chasers- I was aware of the occasional absurd humor George Clinton throws in, and it definitely distracted me from the incredible instrumental. By the second listen I was chanting along to "Mental Musical Bowel Movement, Groove Lax, One Swipe One Wipe." "Sweet and Sour Bowel Movement" might be my favorite line of this track. Went from hesitation to my favorite track on the album. If the lyrics aren't for you, there's an instrumental version at the end on the 7". Into You was another great track that starts again with individual voices singing as a chorus. I found myself doing my best to match Ray Davis' outstanding bass tones. Did I get close? Absolutely not. But the way everything stays in the pocket makes it hard not to join in. I couldn't listen to Cholly without moving my head and making the occasional stank face. Bootsy's bass is iconic for all of the album but it shines the most on here. Lunchmeataphobia is another favorite that has more of a Rock sound than the rest. Very fuzzy, a lot of fun. It fits that it comes on the 7" alongside an incredible live version of Maggot Brain to end the album. Liked: The Whole Damn Album

This is the 168th album I’m rating. I've heard of them but I've never heard a song before. Adding to my Playlist - Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?!, Into You, and Cholly (Funk Getting Ready to Roll!). Not Adding to my Playlist - One Nation under a Groove, Groovallegiance, and Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doo Doo Chasers). One Nation under a Groove - It's too long and not that good. All in all I liked 3/6 songs. I don't think funk is really for me as a genre. Better than metal though.

Extremely well done funk music. Fun song and energy. Good times music.

Just peak funk vibes, what a goated album.

Funk af. Loved it!

Some groovy ass tunes, dude.

Not on Spotify :( listened to who’s a funkadelic instead

This was a great album, each song with their own identity and feeling, it raised the bar and I loved the choreography and balance of all the instruments. The album feels random yet makes complete sense at the same time. I would be listening to this album if it weren't hard to access. 9/10

Love the last song, they need to get this album on streaming services for pete's sake!

"the fear of being eaten by a sandwich" 4.5

I pledge allegiance to the funk

So weird and so awesome, this stuff is fun to listen to and the carves its own path. Great mix of instrumentation and rhythm, makes you want to flip it back over and play again.

Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doodoo Chasers) is an insane track.

this was magical. funkadelic are one of my favourite discoveries of this year. wish id discovered them earlier.

Okay sort of annoyingly, this is isn't on Spotify at all! Like some of the individual songs are but not the full album. Luckily I found it on youtube. Very funky! I enjoy a lot, makes me want to dance. The backing vocals are stellar. Very vibey and all the songs, though distinct, flow nicely to one another. It's actually putting me in a better mood as I listen! I would buy a vinyl of this. The guitar is SO good in this. I love this lol I feel like Funk really touches my soul.

I loooooved it. It has disco sounds and Even some samba sound, it's amazing. Thank You🤍

I really like this, it feels like a grand celebration of funk and a party everyone's invited to! Super fun and groovy and gets better with every listen. Bummer that it's not on Spotify.

Amazeballs

The absolute pinnacle of funk, with a healthy blend of rock and psychedelia. I would give my left leg to be invited to a party at the Pitt with George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars! 5⭐️

Just so good. Especially with the live Maggot Brain

Certainly a magical funk album, i'm starting to get some more funk classics under my belt and this one was absolutely wild. While I don't have a TON of funk subtext to digest an album such as this, the sheer zaniness of this album is absolutely fucking mind blowing. It genuinely surprised me in some of the grandiosity of vision and potential and even spiritual perspectives that funk often brings to the table in wildly entertaining ways. Funkadelic were fucking stellar at that, and groove crafting like none other. The grooves themselves are quite intense and hypnotic on this album, and are for sure far rockin and bluesy than their contemporaries at the same time. I really dont even know how to start talking about the symbolism and preaching on this album, I for sure need about 10 more listens to even do it justice but it is some truly feverous legendary shit. I believe it is firmly at the intersection of heightened insight, insanity, delusion, horror, bliss and certain affirment when it comes to the spirit and the perception of humanity. FRIED ICE CREAM IS A REALITY.

So very, very good from start to finish. Some amazing funk\rock jams at the end that just made me want to start again on side 1. So fine.

Love this album

Funky, cool, and rocking, this is my first time with this one, and I loved it. Although I would give the nod to Maggot Brain, this will be added to my collection. This is what we need now—to be united under a groove!

I only listened through once, I usually have the time for multiple listens for a better opinion. However I did enjoy everything I heard, so I appreciate this album a lot

Exactly what you'd expect from the funk/rock fusion masters. I don't know it as well as the older stuff but it doesn't stray very far. These are exceptional musicians just getting weird with it. How can you not love it? "Fried ice cream IS a reality!"

I couldn’t get the album but I got the song. Got persona 5 vibes. Amazing.

Excellent!

This album literally doesn’t exist on any streaming platforms

Supurb

What if Jimi Hendrix hadn't died in 1970? What if in 1978 he wanted to record a new album but couldn't decide between a heavy funk album and a progressive rock album? What if he decided to record ideas from both the funk album & ideas from the progressive rock album and booked United Sound in Detroit to lay it all down? I'll tell you there is a good chance that the music would sound something like One Nation Under a Groove.

Get down, get funky. Funkadelic at their imperious best

This is top notch

Overall, great sound , interesting lyrics, and good use of artistry. 4.5/5 Better than other 4's but just missing 5

4.5/5.0: Excellent

good music

Every atom of your being BE ALIVE. Funkadelic – a frequency beamed in from a future to cool for the past to sustain – has found your antenna. This is groove that doesn’t just come from another dimension: it literally is a dimension all of its own. Sit back with an awestruck gawp as “One Nation Under a Groove” moves you, improves you, then rifles through the record collection of your mind and does the same. Thought you loved that Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever song “Dive Deep” before? You’re going to love it even more now you’ve heard and felt “Promental…” (I simply cannot believe that guitar tone is a coincidence – no species gets that lucky twice). Didn’t know why it was the 16-bit soundtrack to Toejam and Earl has stayed so fresh in your mind for the best part of 30 years? Funkadelic knows. Anyway, whatever you’re doing drop it and put this record on. It’s that good. Enjoy the songs. Submit to the swing. Marvel at how effortless the corralling of a dozen super-talented artists can be made to sound. Everyone under my roof has been singing “One nation…” all afternoon, nothin’ can stop us now.

Had to order the album and finally got to listen. What can you say about this album that hasn’t been said. Funk at its finest. You can hear their influence from Thundercat to Mononeon it’s everywhere!

Do you swear to Funk, the whole Funk, and nothing but the Funk? 10/10

Goddamn, do I love Funkadelic. I heard them for the first time watching the underrated and prescient movie "PCU" and fell instantly in love. I rarely go out of my way to listen to George Clinton or Parlament Funkadelic, but I always have the best time when I do. I'm listening to this album in my office at work at a standing desk and I have to stop myself from doing a little dance to the music. And I don't LIKE dancing. This music always puts me in a great mood no matter how I feel, and that is the best compliment I can give any artist. I'm so glad I could finally see George live last year. As I go through this project, even albums I like, I am done with by the time I get to the end. When this album ended, I wanted more. I pledge allegiance to the United Funk of Funkadelica.

Pet fav song: "Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?!" I had only ever listened to Maggot Brain before this album. I say between the two this is better. But it's hard to dislike George Clinton. And why can't it be on Spotify? Pour one out for my playlists.

Fucking great album - Love it Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?!

Amazing. Sensational. A music experience unlike any other. I loved the entire album and will listen to it many times over. I hate that it isn't on any music streaming service, might shed a tear or two because of this but what are you gonna do?

This is peak P-Funk and a great companion to Mothership Connection. The album gives this energy of a collective with a clear vision of afro-futurism and unity. I would give anything to see the shows of that time, where yes, they were scat-obsessed even on stage (one of their guitarists, Shider, would only wear an oversized diaper), and even though Parliament/Funkadelic/George Clinton still perform live, it is not the same, and they are a bit SCAT(tered) in their booking and cancelling of venues (I have some recent experience tyring to go). Though some of the ideas seem outrageous and maybe just a shallow groovefest, there is a deeper sense of a connection of waste/rotting away and the earth. Maggot Brain (Hazel's guitar solo!!!) is my most favorite P-Funk output ever, and it is nice they included a live version on this album, along with "Think, it ain't illegal yet". When will we unite in our fun, sometimes outlandish/poopy ways, and rise up to the system that doesn't want us to think critically anymore?

A great hang and a very fun listen!

very nice funk, low 5

actually so upset its not on streaming platforms i love funkadelic so much

full album not available in spotify

gloriously funky, uplifting, vibrant music.

"Wearing diapers onstage, mixing feedback guitar with songs about sex and body fluids, they've remained filthy for 38 years"

So way back in the olden days meaning around 99-00 my old pal Charlie introduced me to the P-Funk or at least what I knew of them beyond the classic film PCU. He had this album on CD and was nice enough to dub me a copy onto cassette. I think he put Sly Stone on the B side. He had what he thought was a hilarious joke of making a tape labeled Dave Matthew's Band but was only dave for like 30 seconds then Sly comes on. This presumably to freak out the squares or something. Anyway I love this album one of my true intros to Funk!

Maybe it is a little too long for a funk album but hell it is a very good funk album.

Great great great album, the charisma of the band members could be heard though each and every song. Worth searching on YouTube and listening as a whole.

On first listen, I thought this was pretty decent. On second listen, I have decided to renounce my citizenship and pledge allegiance to the United Funk of Funkadelica. It's an oddysey. It's ethereal. It's psychedelic. It's stupid. It's hilarious. And, Jesus Christ, is it funky. Insanely good. Fried ice cream is a reality. Fav tracks: One Nation Under a Groove, Groovallegiance, Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis (The Doo Doo Chasers), Into You

Enfunkened to see so much belief in the one

By this time, Parliament and Funkadelic were, to all intents and purposes, one entity, although I don't believe there are any horns on this album. This is incredibly funky but there is still a huge dose of heavy, swirling psychedelic, rock guitar. It's like James Brown playing Blue Cheer, or Vanilla Fudge playing Sly Stone. Loads of warbly synth lines and Bootsy's thumping bass accompany the vocals which range from Doo-Wop harmonies to shouts and barks. Love it. The P-funk tours must have been something to behold...

George Clinton is a genius. When most artists are ecstatic if they can make themselves successful, have one or two hits, this guy was leading two genre-defining groups. And producing major hits with both, each with their own distinctive style. I didn’t realize how much depth the album has, being more than a dance vibe. Funkadelic pushes the buttons of conservative America by challenging limitations around music, politics and social norms, all while delivering the funk and Hendrix/inspired guitars. It’s an easy five stars for me.

I dare you to try sitting still to this !!

Goated. I love funk and I love this band!!!

I love that what comes with Funkadelic is not only the illest funk, but a sense of pure spontaneity, creativity, and just hangin with the homies. So much fun. Some bad mothers ❤️

Pretty sure George Clinton has never made an album I don’t love.

was always a fan of funkadelic, always a great time

Ultimate outer-planetary funk. It don't get no funkier.

Just a glorious explosion of nonsense and funk. easy 5*s. George is life

Great album, a bit of me. Funky fun, reminds me of uni! 5/5

Lovely stuff. Heard this before and it’s an absolutely a bit of me. Funky fun, would like some extra songs. Reminds me of uni!

Considering the title track is one of the best things ever, this album could have plummeted in quality almost immediately. Luckily it doesn't!

Loved it

C: 8.5/10. You'd think an album that combines funk, jazz, pop, rock, edm and even classical styles would turn out sounding a bit academic, besides being pretty good too. Instead, this album is incredibly joyful to listen to. It shows off just enough without sacrificing the cohesion and fun of it. Even when there are no lyrics, Funkadelic rebels simply by cohesively and cleverly incorporating different styles. The result is a clear political message against stereotypes and the genre drama of the music industry that continues to limit artists today. The fact that the album is so fun and engaging due to It's adventurousness is what makes it's message so effective. Why wouldn't you want a funk band to rock after hearing that?

A funk album, full of funk music all about funk (and a few other things)...Funking awesome. A great new discovery and it's going in my funking Tidal collection.

mt bom

Absolutely tremendous and probably the coda of P-Funk's prime, more or less.

Engaging from top to bottom, my absolute favorite type of guitar work.

Sometimes you just need something to bring you joy. I haven't previously listened too much funk, but this had so many layers and is incredibly fun. I'll definitely listen again when I need a pick me up.

With the exception of the musical laxative, every song jams hard enough to make you shake your derriere. Delightful as funk.

Verry Nice groovy

Was surprised to have to listen to this on YouTube? Not available on Spotify or Apple Music. Fun and groovu

One of the greats

off market

Echt lekker, rare funk, af en toe wat jam-achtig.

I want to be able to play bass like this. Personal enjoyment: 5/5 Relevance to this list: 5/5

Brilliant.

LOVE IT! Absolute vibes!

High potency funks administered direct from the Mothership. Unavailable for conventional streaming...probably too funky.

So FUNKY!!! I dig. Just a fantastic album as a whole. Not a single bad song on the album. A little disappointed it's not on Spotify, and had to listen on YouTube with adds.

Can't find the whole album to stream

Fried ice cream is a reality.

Chefs kiss. It is THE groove.

If I could give this 6 stars, I would! Outstanding!

Perfect blend of repeated grooves and traditional song structure, hooks for days, and some killer guitar solos-- now all we need is for Spotify to get its act together!

I don't make it a habit to listen to funk yet here we are once again. I can't really explain the pure awesomeness of this band. Yeah, I typically listen to electronic/ synth/ techno and move out from that base all around, but to get to funk/ rock is a few steps removed. It does not mean I don't like any genre even at the fringes, but they usually don't peak my interests. But here we are with Funkadelic and for some reason that I do not understand, they have a singular ability to make me very emotional every time I listen. When a band puts out instrumental songs that make me cry from their pure beauty... it CAN'T get any better than that!

The funk machine is off the charts with this one, as expected from George Clinton and Funkadelic. This is an amazing funk record! The songs are very catchy with amazing choruses throughout. The lyrics definitely play a part in that, and in the whole album. The performances here are amazing as well, the instruments just feel like they fit so well with one another. The bass on this album is so good dude! The vocals are also a definite highlight, they’re very memorable. I don’t have an issue with the long song lengths! It lets me groove to the songs more. While I may not have a lot to say about this album, it’s an amazing funk record that i’d recommend. Stay funky y’all.

Funky as hell, such a fantastic experience. It just had such a good flow to it.

Wow the live song they did as part of this album was really good, definitely a 5 star album here. Had to listen on youtube

It's too bad this album is nearly impossible to find streaming anywhere. Still, was able to listen to it by piecing it together from YT uploads. Anyway, I loved this album when I first heard it almost 30 years ago, and it still holds up. The title track and "Who Says..." are really accessible for casual listeners. "Promental..." is a fantastic slow jam. Its lyrical content, and its overall sound remind me of some of Frank Zappa's humor-laden, socio-political satire slow-jams. "Cholly..." has one of the funkiest bass lines I've ever heard. Enthusiastic 5 stars.

Imperdible.

Funky and groovy - not even all the weird scatological stuff can knock off a star! Fave tracks - "One Nation Under A Groove" is a great opener, and gets the party started. "Cholly" and "Lunchmeataphobia" are great. And of course, any version of "Maggot Brain" is always welcome...

If you ever wanted a case study in just how joyless and incurious 60% of 1001 Albums Generator users are, check out the reviews for this classic. Page after page of “waah, this is too long and weird and funky!” Like that isn’t the point you stupid motherfucker Five stars.

Buena semana, gente.

HOLY MOLY I have never funked so hard.... I do indeed promise to funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk. They didn't really leave you much choice. Note to future self, since it's (tragically) not on spotify, the part at 41mins on yt goes HAAAARD. I was still vibing even through the prawn ice cream cult... just so much fun

Eindelijk. EINDELIJK!!!!

I pledge groove allegiance to the flag and the united funk of Funkadelica, one nation under a groove.

Love P Funk. This album was just good fun.

That was a journey to the center of funk and I’ll be damned if I didn’t enjoy every second of the ride!!

The cover of this album looks like it was drawn by a 13 year old and, unfortunately, only a few songs from it are available on spotify. I managed to find it on YouTube and it's as good as the cover art is bad. At first I found the songs a bit overlong, but the more I listened to it, the more I got into its borderline prog funk. It's a pain that it's not available to stream. I'd probably listen to it a lot more if it was.

oh I love

This was very good and had some variety/flow that felt like it added up to a largely solid album. Excited for when we get Maggot Brain hopefully, though interesting to me that this came out after that, maybe this is a sleeper that is even better? Much better than so many of the albums here that are a few hits and collections of okay songs. Sad this isn't on Spotify.

Great funk. I hate that this is unavailable (due to label disputes) on any streaming but YT, but it's a classic.

insofar as they are a real Band, i think funkadelic p much has to be in contention for Greatest Band Of All Time, not just for their ability to make transcendental music but to have that transcendence coexist with the pure brazen confidence it takes to name a masterpiece something like Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doo Doo Chasers)...whatever clinton and co had, its what frank zappa wanted! trite to even say for funk, but so much of the appeal rly is that every single idea feels totally mined for all its worth, hypnotic and colorful sonic painting to get turned around and lost in. im not super familiar with the bands various lineups (much less their cross-pollination with parliament), but this feels like it has to be one of the best theyve ever had...a million things to notice and plenty of time to appreciate them. the fact they can pull off a live version of maggot brain without eddie hazel and make it distinct and exciting is unbelievable. this discog (and parliament by extension) just seem like a treasure trove

An amazing, fun album. Infectious energy, genuinely funny, but so sharp on the musicianship.

Title track is one of the greatest things ever

Still swinging Still surprising Still special Still impressive Still worth listening

Fantastic

Peak genre blending.

I pledge allegiance to the funk!

Brilliantly bizarre and cosmically chaotic. "Fried ice cream is a reality" indeed. And a record like this seems to similarly stretch the boundaries of what's possible. So fun and funky, so openly entertaining yet so oddly elevating and philosophical (to the point of being metaphysical), so utterly messy and yet ultimately magical. Eddie van Halen's got nothing on the riffs here. It aims to be The Leaves of Grass and George Clinton the Walt Whitman of pop music. The add-on track of "Maggot Brain" is mind-meltingly awesome, every cuts offers a plethora of layered pleasures and intrigues, such is the effect of such danceable maximalism.

oh wow! how many hundreds of times have I listened to this! P-Funk is a top 5 on my all-time list. I own everything!!!! I will be way to biased to rate this fairly. Easy ass 5 for me!

Great, great album. I haven't listened to it in years and it's even better

THAT WAS AWESOMEEEEE i just wish it was on spotify

How is this not available on streaming???

I went into this pretty positive because I knew I was going to have a good time. Second Funkadelic album and they just do not disappoint. I rated Maggot Brain 5 stars but this one might be even better? Oh well, in retrospect plenty of ratings I'd change. Only disappointing thing was having to listen to the album on YouTube so I can't add a bunch of stuff to Spotify albums.

Who says a funk band can’t play rock indeed? Funkadelic is Mr. Clinton’s guitar experiment, and it pays off here with perfection. So much going on. A wide range of styles, but nothing seems confused or complicated, and the masterful groove never ends. An all- time favorite.

I had Mothership Connection by Parliament and was a bit iffy because it seemed like that album was more of a skit than music. Now I get Funkadelic and I have to say this blows Parliament out of the water. Funkadelic's got the funk. I'm mad this album isn't on Spotify and I had to listen on YouTube and I can't ever randomly hear these songs on Spotify again which is a shame because I actually really liked this entire album. Sorry Parliament, Funkadelic funked me up.

TOPTOP

amazing!

Just brilliant. It's easy to forget the sillier and more outre performances in later years but this just reminds you not only what amazing players they are but what great songwriters they are too. Maggot Brain. Classic.

of course it's 5 stars, please, it's funkadelic, i would allow George clinton to cut my head off, you are silly if you expected a different rating

I believe in the funk, the whole funk, and nothing but the funk!

So good, exceeded already high expectations and also made sense of a lot of songs that I'd heard sample it over the years lol

The Mothership brought us The Funk. This album is irrepressible and cannot be denied. Equal parts groove, fun, and genius.

This album made me dance across the house Sunday morning and also made me realize how few albums on this list, at least so far, have made me stop what am doing and just be in the groove. This was one of them.

What a great album for many different reason. A nice mix of genres, great funk short but powerful and not one wasted moment. Love it!

PUT THIS ALBUM ON SPOTIFY!!!! IT BANGS!!!!

love funk music <3

This was the first album that I had to buy a physical copy of in order to listen to and I have zero regrets about that. I got a vinyl reissue with the bonus EP, as George Clinton would want me to. My toddler and I danced like lunatics to this and he shouted "I LIKE THIS MUSIC" and it brought me great joy.

Love this band, and this album is just phenomenal

Rating: 9.5/10 So fun, so funky, so groovy, and so amazing. Favorite songs: pretty much all of them. Least favorite song: Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad.

Another great one!

Fantastic p-funk love this album

Love it

My only complaint is that it's so short. The whole album is a stream of funky goodness that i love the float in

P.E. Squad / Doo Doo Chasers Maggot Brain instrumentali političke pjesme, funk

Ojo a las letras: "The world is a toll-free toilet / Our mouths neurological assholes / And / psychologically speaking / We’re in a state of mental diarrhea" Into You es una golosa balada de tintes psicodélicos, sin embargo sí se hace algo larga en comparación con su predecesora. Otros discos editados en 1978: debuts de Kate Bush, Dire Straits, Police, Devo y Siouxsie and the banshees, (también Chris Rea y Midnight Oil), así como discos esenciales: C´est CHic, Plastic letters y Paralell Lines, Some Girls, This year´s model, Darkness on the Edge of Town, Incantations, Équinoxe, Ambient 1: Music for Airports, All mod cons, Some girls, Outlandos d´amour los directos de Cheap Trick, Thin Lizzy, Bob Marley, AC-DC y The last waltz, e incluso Grease.

Funkadelic cannot flop, they don't know how

George Clinton (or his Ghost Writer) recalled in his book about Funkadelic, tripping balls, accidentally driving onto the set of Night of the Living Dead. It's one of my favorite Rock N Roll tales. Funkadelic were a raggedy ass, rowdy, Hendrix loving, Zappa inspired, proudly defiant Black band from Detroit who produced some of the wiggiest head music of the era on their debut record and it's follow-up, Free Your Mind...and Your Ass Will Follow. Sonically, it closer to the MC5 or Stooges anchored to Sly and the Family Stone if the Family Stone were on acid. This was the sound of Funk's birth; Not designed to comfort White people, this was for freaks of all races to smoke grass, drop acid and groove. Everybody with a brain and an ass to shake loves this shit. Everybody. Then and now. By the time of 1978's "One Nation", Clinton had invented the Wu-Tang model of main group, side groups, solo stuff, except it was Parliament, Funkadelic, and occasionally, P-Funk. Generally speaking, Parliament was the Afro-Futurist positive cosmology; Funkadelic was the sarcastic satire. Occasionally, this distinction became indistinct, as Funkadelic moved from raggedy to a more polished, bigger sound, embracing the psychedelic qualities of the synthesizer. Still Wiggie. Still Sarcastic Satire. Totally killer The title track has my vote for the United States National Athem. The poetry is better, and it's got a bottomless grove. "Grooveallegiance" might be a better choice, but its slippery contours, coupled with Bernie Worrell's left feel sci-fi synthesizer experiments, make this the front runner for a World Stoner Anthem. "Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?!" invents Fishbone's sound, with bouncy funk, distorted guitar, and uplifting chorus that both affirms and reminds us that motherfucking Funkadelic got that shit locked down. "Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doo Doo Chasers)" lyrically, works several meaning of the Word "Shit" to both celebrate "cleaning your shit" and decry a variety of bullshit artists all who are hangers-on, all delivered with the patented Clinton sermon/insane coke prophet-rant. The line "The fear of being eaten by a sandwich" is so far-out, it reads now as a kind of deconstructive koan, radiating subjective energy. It means *something*, goddammit. I love it. Musically, the languid groove produced by the various players is so chill, you feel compelled to clean your pot and start rolling joints. "Into You" is a wonderful example of the kind of plaintive but extremely horny kind of ballad that Bootsy is known for. If we don't fuck, baby, I will die of this boner. Fuck smooth. Fuck rough. Fuck Jeffrey Osbourne and his suburban slow jams. "Cholly (Funk Getting Ready to Roll)" is an insanely catchy, immanent ass shaking, thesis for the all of Funkadelic. Cholly likes all kinds of music, and will play all it over fat-ass basslines and beats so fucking funky, they kind of short circuit logic. Just move, dumbass. Just move. The bonus EP's "Lunchmeataphobia (Think! It Ain't Illegal Yet!)" and ""P.E. Squad/Doo Doo Chasers " are even weirder slight returns to the themes and characters on the LP. Berlin- Bowie soundscapes and lyrics suggesting that the Bowie thing went to lyrics, with the themes feeling Burroughs Cut-Up. "Maggot Brain/Chant (Think It Ain't Illegal Yet!)" is pure vicious guitar rama-lama, played soulfully, and, in the context of the melody, is absolutely righteous. Eddie Hazel should be in the same breath as Hendrix. Simply, incredible tunes for outer and inner space. Mind your sandwiches, stoners!

Completely bugnuts in the best possible way. Funny, piercing, mind bending.

The funk The whole funk And nothing but the funk.

In the words of my friend Kevin Freiberg - this is a righteous jam. There really is nothing quiet like these dudes man, nothing at all. It feels like the shred could solve the riddle of perpetual motion; plug him in and switch off the reactor, that guitar could power the world for eternity. A righteous jam indeed. Fried ice-cream IS a reality.

I could just copy\paste my review for Parliaments Mothership Connection as that covers this album too. Love it. My kind of music. I own the album .... blah blah blah.

Again Psychedelic [whatever] proves to be my weakness, and Psychedelic Funk should be a crime, and George Clinton should be put on trial for being far too funky for the rest of the world to stand.
