Reviews (page 2 of 13)

one of my favs of all time

I hadn't heard any of the songs on the album but I thought every single one was great!!

70s Glam Rock classic! There's something about Marc Bolan's music that makes it impossible to ignore, I have to nod and tap along with these groovy guitar riffs. Give me some danceable glam over the early 70s prog nonsense any day! The first 3 tracks in particular are very strong, Get it On needs no further intro, and It's a Gas is a super catchy highlight of the second side. Easy 5*

I really love this one, and it’s my 6th favorite Radiohead album. It kind of feels like the closest Radiohead came to a “White Album” with all the variety and the longer run time.

Possibly the first time I remember feeling that i had found music of my own, rather than that of my parents. Still a hero to me and this album has to be a highlight to anyone growing up during the period of glam rock. Favourite track: Get it On (still rocks today 😎)

Most sampled album of all-time!

nice bass and chill music nothing more

So slick! Honestly took me by surprise, this is incredible. Glam-rock but better than Bowie. There, I said it. It just works.

In a better world Mambo Sun would've been a #1 hit that still gets frequent radio play

Love this album!

Exceptional bluesy-groovy masterpiece of glam rock. A must listen.

Está banda la conocí hace poco tiempo relativamente gracias a una app que reconoce las canciones, ya que escuché una canción que escuchaba de niño, la cual siempre quise encontrar.

"Electric Warrior" is an absolute highlight of glam rock. Marc Bolan's vocals, delivery, or whatever you want to call it, are unmistakable and unique. I love this album. Whenever I'm in the mood to dance, these songs have to be playing. Hey, and it's also really great for cleaning the apartment.

I really loved this album, Great site to find new music to enjoy.. The sound is amazing, I loved it

This is one of the 9 masterpieces from The Beatles. As I listen today, regardless that the album is 50+ years old, I feel that could be issue today.

Cracker of an album

love it, stevie wonder vibes

Ich hatte vor vielen Jahren mal eine T.Rex Phase. Stellt sich nur die Frage, warum wurde sie beendet und nie wieder fortgesetzt? Das ist genau meine Musik. Tolles Album. Cosmic Dancer inklusive rückwärtsgitarre. Geiler Song.

Good times "Almost Famous" 70'er vibes. Det er sgu meget godt.

Det er bare fedt

This was a really strong album. I would find it difficult to pin it to just one genre really. I can't think of one single track that I didn't enjoy.

One of my favourite albums ever. Not a duff track on here. Before he went pop, this album is a rock album. Three huge singles as well.

Don't normally listen to a lot of glam, but hard to deny that everything really comes together here. Great song writing and performances, consistent without dragging. Even some of the lesser tracks stand up, and the whole thing may not sound modern but it's not particularly dated either

Mambo Sun Cosmic Dancer Jeepster Monolith Get It On Life’s A Gas Hot Love

10/10 . 70s music that sounds like 80’s or even 90’s music.

5 stars. My new favorite album the list has given me so far. Best song is “Life’s A Gas”

When I was 12, I wasn’t dancing. I was watching a T. Rex tribute with my dad. I think it was especially formative in my love of live music. So for that, I can only thank Marc Bolan.

Already rated this legend 4.5 on RYM so could go either way here, but I am leaning towards perfect 5, this is a full package. P.S. Re-listened a few times to this great record again today and is very clearly 5 stars, perfect and love nearly every song here and what a badass album cover

I mean Jesus. This is nostalgia right here. 5 for that alone.

4.5/5 https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/t-rex/electric-warrior-9/ I quite like a lot of Ty Segall’s work, so it’s odd that I’ve never dove into T. Rex, especially because so much of this album sounds like what Segall would do again 40 years later. Awesome stuff.

Please don't let Finland win.

Довольно спокойный альбом, приятное звучание и ощущение 70х

Freaking love T. Rex.

it turns out i love glam rock! this was the biggest surprise so far, i didn't know the band and i ended up listening to it twice yesterday.

Rock 'n' Roll Boogie!

Gros rock

this my jam dude 9/10

As good as anything Bowie put out.

i greatly enjoyed. get it on is one of my favorite songs of all time and there was great sonic cohesion throughout

Greatest cover art of all time and a total banger. One of 2 essential T. Rex albums; the other is The Slider.

Most underrated rock LP ever. Love it.

A los 15 años nos repartíamos entre los amigos los discos a comprar, este le tocó a Angel Manu y nunca nos arrepentimos. Un 5 rotundo en su época. Hoy sigue siendo un chute escucharlo. Sencillo glam-rock.

An immensely cool album, led by a frontman dripping with charisma. So good

What a trip that Marc Bolan and Mark Volman are both on the same album. The stars aligned for this one.

Loved the album, the guitar and hippie dippie poetry lyricism made it for me. Favourite track was probably Jeepster, defo would listen again

surprised.

Outside of Bang a Gong, I haven’t been familiar with T. Rex. Wow. Great album. Definitely something to revisit.

"Electric Warrior" cannot be underestimated for the songs that land like a steel bucket of glitter painted railroad ties. Each of the album's high points, "Mambo Sun", "Cosmic Dancer", "Jeepster", "Get it On", "Life's a Gas", and "Rip Off" are each distinct and effective in their own way. Each seemingly could have birthed entire individual genres on their own accords of majesty and originality, but, even as I try to find direct pairs, each remains unparalleled and a still live on as little universe of their own. "Mambo Sun", although exploring similar Cajun and country-plucking territory to West Coast bands like Little Feat and CCR, Bolan's breathy delivery, buoyed by falsetto fantasy-chorus, has us long departed from the dusty dirt of the former's Americana, and off onto another planet entirely. "Cosmic Dancer" and "Life's a Gas", both, in spirit, rather than via sonics, foretell if not ordain, the escape in languid hedonism and dancing of Balearic music (which would give its own birth to children of Rave.) "Jeepster" and "Get it On" both presage the gleaming grit of the image-first rock of the 80s. There's a smudge of motor oil on the chrome, foreshadowing the rides you're gonna go on, but first you are just gonna look at the cars and take in all their muscular, gleaming glory. Speaking of legacy and influence, we can't ignore Bolan's deliberately unserious lyrics, as well as similar joking-riffing intentionally sloppy lead licks that get played throughout "Electric Warrior" with as much studio polish and zeal as the competently flashy ones. This sort of 'anti-polish' would in legacy support between try-hard metal and can't-be-bothered grunge, evident in Jerry Cantrell and Kim Thayill's effortless-in-effort anti-cool, as well as other indies such as Jay Mascis, Doug Marsch, and Steve Malkmus, and even modern McGee, who each take raw technical ability as not necessarily interesting in itself, and explore wilder expressions through solos thick with petina of distortions and effects. We also get bands that marry absurdity and musical chops, such as Ween and Phish (whether or not you are grateful like I am, or understandably spiteful for their existence and rabid fandoms). In the same way that Bolan saw the utility of competent and flashy playing, but in the fashion that grew Glam, technicality was an essential but minor part of a bigger show. There are some low points, here, which I won't pass aside for adulating the greats: "Lean Woman Blues", although lyrically funny and interesting, is at the end of the day, a blown out, straight ahead blues. "Girl", which is mainly solo acoustic with a cheeky and pleasant flugelhorn, is ungrounded in flimsy fantasy and too insubstantial to hold its own with the rest of the album. It feels like a planned smoke break. To credit, it is possibly the only time I will ever forgive a "witch/ditch" rhyme (Rob Zombie gets no pass). "The Motivator", although primed with stompy glee, energetically feels like it was racing on foot, and couldn't catch up to the hot cars of "Jeepster" and "Get it On". All given and on the table, and even despite it's lowest points (which are only so relatively low due to the soaring successes) "Electric Warrior" took off for space 55 years ago and we have still been getting vibrant, inspiring, and wholly relevant transmissions from it, since.

loved every song

Incredible album. Familiar with a few songs on here but loved listening to the whole thing in full. Somewhere between David Bowie and an 80s rock album. Love the vibe, love the energy. Such a sexy and cool album!

Really interesting

Love this album - have listened multiple times before but felt I properly listened this time. Favs are Planet Queen, Jeepster, Girl, obvs cosmic dancer

I love T. rex

Album 1020 of 1089 Electric Warrior - T. Rex (1971) Rating : 4.5 / 5 This one has me reconsidering a long-held opinion. I’ve always thought The Slider might be their best, but after listening to this again, I’m not so sure. T. Rex is instantly recognizable, and I mean that as a compliment. From the very first note, you know exactly what you’re getting - and that’s a big part of the appeal. There’s a confident, swaggering sound here that never wavers. It’s glam rock done with conviction, charm, and just the right amount of grit. These are fun songs full of energy and spirit, carried by Marc Bolan’s distinctive style and presence. Nothing feels overthought or forced - it just rolls along, sounding cool and self-assured the whole way through. Electric Warrior doesn’t try to reinvent anything, and it doesn’t need to. It delivers exactly what a great T. Rex album should.

That was great, thanks!

i knew 3 of their songs off of this album beforehand, but why did NOBODY TELL THAT THIS ENTIRE ALBUM IS AMAZING

Glam rock ruled in early 70’s UK, and this is the album that kicked off the whole shebang. That’s only right and proper as Electric Warrior is a joyous romp from beginning to end, a collection of swaggering, sexy, mystical pop songs, including two of the finest singles of period in Jeepster and Get It On. Both tracks are utterly enthralling, timeless classics, but the joy of Electric Warrior is the strength of the material around them. Life’s A Gas is gloriously slinky with one of the great opening lines - “I could have loved you, girl, like a planet, I could have chained your heart to a star” – yep, I’m in. Cosmic Dancer – recently covered by Nick Cave – is probably my favourite of the lot and is especially affecting because of Marc Bolan’s early demise. Those strings… 10/10

Cosmic dancer banger: Rob has joined

My mom gave me her copy of this when I was 15 or so. The Power Station (seriously, google it. Educate yourself) covered Bang A Gong. I love this album. Not only is it great but it holds a lot of sentimental value. It makes The Black Album look Beige

Love it!

Such a fun, cool and easy listen. Love the 70s glam rock.

unreal loved it all

Ripoff >

Love love love

love a good electric guitar the first song is really good ok i really like this the fade out on comsic dancer was really good Jeepster is really good lean woman blues was good i liked it rip off is really good i like it it has more enerdy

A surprising bop. Fully enjoyed this. Felt like I would hear this on the sopranos

Feels like playing air guitar alone while looking in the bathroom mirror.

AMOOOO electric warrior. sería un 4.5 pero no se puede asiq bueno. es increíble tiene altos temas. me gusta mucho la voz del chabón y el timbre de las guitarras es todoo. ya lo había escuchado igual creo q en 2022

Found this album reading ATYD and got introduced to the PURE BLISS that is old glam rock.

I enjoyed this one a lot! This was one I had been wanting to listen to (I was reminded I wanted to listen to this from the Crux Deluxe). This is definitely right up my alley.

Interesting

mt bom

”1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die”という企画に期待するのはこういうアルバムだったんだけど、7回目にしてようやく回ってきた。

While Marc Bolan may have a few painful rhyming lyrics, this album is still great. In addition to Get It On, more than half of this collection are strong tunes that hold up well in 2025 - I have Jeepster stuck in my head right now!. I love the cover art, but this is not the insane guitar trip the picture suggests. Very cool

15 songs in 55 minutes and not a single skip worthy track. Probably more of a strong 4 but T Rex doesnt get the credit they deserve.

One of my top 5 albums of all time. Makes me feel like a teenager in 1971 and partly inspired my first year university fiction portfolio. #1 song gotta be Mambo Sun or Cosmic Dancer. 5/5

All the feyness of Syd Barrett mixed with playful, sexy, sleaze rock. There is a direct line from this to early 80s Prince, although not quite as funky. There is so much to dig into on this album. It’s like old fashioned rock n roll with overdrive electric guitars. I love the switch from Tyrannosaurus Rex’s acoustic psychedelic folk, without losing that whimsical essence. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and you can hear Marc Bolan’s charisma in every vocal. Rip off is a low point, but the other 10 tracks please me greatly.

Favourite songs: Mambo Sun, Cosmic Dancer, Jeepster, Get It On, Rip Off, Life’s A Gas, Woodland Rock (B Side)

Glam rock at its finest. Cosmic Dancer and Planet Queen are my personal highlights, though the well-known single isn’t bad. One of a couple T-Rex records I’ve played a lot and the only one to make my top 100.

Fantastic.

I just love this slimy, sleazy, glammy rock sound. It’s tied up with memories of listening to T. Rex on cassette in my friend’s kitchen on our school lunch break, and so many of the tracks on here are favourites.

I had forgotten how great this album is and how young MB was when he died

This album was pretty groovy. I had listened to bang a Cong many times but didn't know it was by T Rex

Outstanding. Marc Bolan sounded amazing from start to finish.

A very cool 70s Electric, psychedelic, glam rock album! 9/10 loved it got a little lost at the very end but overall a great record. Favs include Cosmic Dancer, Jeepster, Bang a Gong (Get It On)

One moment it feels as if I am listening to 2000s indie rock but then find out the next song this is 30 years older with a gentle 70s vibe. Cool to keep discovering new music like this.

One of the best classic rock albums

One of the greatest albums of all time. I find it painfully underrated.

Great album, of course it's in my collection.

Who can beat “girl, I’m just a Jeepster for your love”? Nobody, that’s who.

Even more so than Ziggy, this is the glam rock zenith.

Smooth and relaxing, thinking about buying it on iTunes for the iPod. It’s been raining for the last week here, but this album feels like a cup of hot soup or a warm fire.

The guitar tone and riffs are fantastic. This music sounds like a whole different world of 1971. Really enjoyed this album

Best Track - "Get It On"

Forgot How good they are

Why this group was not more popular in the states than they were is a mystery to me. The rhythm section in this band is amazing. Futuristic with its roots in rock and roll. Every song is a banger. R.I.P. Mark Bolan

So good. So classic. Will forever be playing this album and that's just the way it is.

Efficient, heavy-in-their-weightlessness rockers float by on airy mysticism, lust and car and/or beard obsession. Music owes a debt to the 50s rock and girl groups that came before. It’s a good, weird time.

Love this album

9/10 Some top drawer songs and a genre defining album. Some times music is about having a bloody good time, and this album captures that

If Rock discovered eyeliner, looked in the mirror and said, “yeah I’d date me”. Felt like the tracks were flirting with me and I liked it! Guitars fuzz, tambourines glitter, and a sax joins just because it can. Really enjoyed this album. One of those tapes you keep in the car for when the radio forgets how to have fun

Лонглегс ахуенен

I didn't discover T. Rex until I was dating the girl who became my wife. On one of our earliest dates we saw Billy Elliott, which opens with "Cosmic Dancer" and includes other T.Rex cuts (deep?) such as "Ride the White Swan" and "Children of the Revolution." This album just sounds "cool" - laid back, smooth, effortlessly groovy rock. Distinct. In the U.S. "Get It On" makes them seem like a one hit wonder, and maybe they are, but wonder is key word here. [Sidebar: I hear the later Beatles embedded here, in the guitar work/production, in the playfulness, in some of the background vocal style - I'll take it!] No choice for me… the music is too good, the memories are too good… 5/5.

9/10 Pretty good, surprised T Rex isn't more well known

Only ever heard a couple of T. Rex songs before, both of which I liked, but this was fantastic.

This album sounds like satin pants, candlelight, and someone whispering cosmic nonsense in your ear while tuning a guitar. It’s glam rock before it knew what glam rock was—sleazy, sincere, and weirdly beautiful. Marc Bolan basically turned fuzz pedals into a religion. Every riff struts; every lyric sounds like it was written halfway between a daydream and a mirror selfie. It’s sex, glitter, and melancholy all humming through one amplifier. Rating: 5/5 Short Review: Stardust with swagger. The moment rock ’n’ roll realized it could preen. Favorite Track: “Cosmic Dancer” — it’s delicate, tragic, and absurdly self-aware: “I was dancing when I was twelve…” Yeah, you were, Marc. You never stopped.

Didn't realize the depth of these guys - think I only knew Get It On. This is pretty amazing, lots of notes of Bowie and the Beatles. I'm so receptive to any rock band that finds a way to bring in horns and/or piano in a way that feels additive - loving the layers on this album. Bolan's guitar tone feels timeless, like something you would hear on an album today. Lean Woman Blues really shows off his vocal range. Was thinking I would give this a 4, but on another spin, there just isn't much I would skip or change on this album. Excited to come back to this one more.

T.Rex goes to more poppish Glam Rock fields here and it's an influencial album, very different from the previous folk ones,so it's fairly in this list. Hearing the songs one by one now: Mambo Sun is nice, chunky and hypnotic, Cosmic Dancer, great atmosphere and lyrics, Jeepster has so many different elements that results on something very creative, interesting and unique, In Monolith you can hear a soul choir and a distorted guitar, slow paced like a glam blues song, Lean Woman Blues sounds like a distorted Beatles song, the vocals are not that good, Get It On of course was the single out of this album and you can hear why,it's absolutely fantastic, Planet Queen is a nice, moody, rhytmic song with great drums, Girl is a more stripped song, good but not my thing, The Motivator has great effects in the guitars that really works here, really spaced out, great song, Life's A Gas has great lyrics despite it's title. At the end it has a hidden song, The Rip-Off that even has a sax on it and it is my favourite!! Overall is a great album,i heard it at once and it has so many interesting elements.

Bolan RIP

Jeg trodde ikke på T. Rex. Jeg hadde blitt exponert for altfor mye dårlig glam igjennom årene,* og trodde ikke lenger at det fantes flere unntak der ute enn Hello's New York Groove og The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Jeg blir fortsatt hjemsøkt av noen av låtene: Alexander Graham Bell, what have you done well...

love it

Nick Cave once described Cosmic Dancer as the happiest song ever written. He's not wrong. What an immaculate record.

Talk about a guy finding his groove.

muiiito boom

Раньше не любил этот альбом, а потом как полюбил.

Love the intro to this album. I'll be saving this as a favorite. Glad to have discovered this music. Amazing sound of early 2000s indie-rock, but decades prior. There must be so many bands that I listened to in college that we inspired by this artist. Once I landed on "Bang a Gong," I realized why this sound was so familiar... this song has been featured in numerous films I've seen. Super cool to hear the rest of it!

Still a good listen after all these years. Some great riffs throughout and the overall mood is so enjoyable. Top album.

This was amazing, oh my god. I’d heard the biggest track from this in Get It On before and I love that song. The rest of the album is just as good. The vocals, instrumentation and just the whole vibe was so good!

Some artists appear effortlessly cool, timelessly cool, electrically cool — from the first track to the last, Marc Bolan is that artist. Even a bog-standard blues becomes charismatic and strange in his hands. There's only a handful of people in the world Bowie wished he could be at times, and Marc Bolan with his glam strut and cosmic boogie vibes was one of them.

Incredible. This is why we're here. It's Electric Warrior by T Rex. An absolute classic rock n roll album. Each song is boiled down to it's essence. Great cover art.

I've somehow managed to never really listen to T Rex--apart from Bang a Gong. This was a nice start to the week. Even though it's from 1971, it doesn't feel dated. There's nothing wrong with this one.

never listened to the full album even tho i love t. rex, i really love the guitar on this one. nice ending!

I really enjoyed this through and through. Favorite songs: Monolith Life’s a Gas (pretty sad considering his premature demise).

Great album. A new favorite.

a good one

Lovely album. I am a big fan of his top hits but never listened to any albums and it's awesome. Very cool album with great riffs and love the harmonies. Some surprising tracks too, very confident adaptations.

So far I genuinely like this album. It kinda reminds me of the music from one of my playlists, and will probably join the music from that playlist. The song I'm listening to rn is Cosmic Dancer and it reminds me the most of Back From Kathmandu. Idk if the whole album will vibe with that playlist, but I'm probably gonna grab the album anyways cause I like the overall vibe. Officially 5 songs in. Do do da do dooooo. Just finished, this album is fucking awesome.

It's been a couple of months since I've had a contender for a 5 star album and I think this just about fits the bill. A couple of the slower tracks aren't particularly great, but I love pretty much everything else.

Really wasn’t expecting this album to be this great.

loved it

Good bluesy time

This is a surprise for me. I love the grooves, the sass. Every song is a banger. Blues, Rockabilly, Glam Rock, it’s all here.

realizing that I def listened to a few of these months ago and forgot to rate. oopsie daisy. also re pondering if cananyonereallyownashower, definitely yes. Anyways this album is fire I listen to cosmic dancer and hot love all the time and also mambo sun is a banger.

Something about this albums sound is so unique. Every single song is great

Not sure what to say except that I have already loved this album for a a while. It's one of the first ones I added to my vinyl collection. Just all around fun.

This and the slider are top tier for me

I love this album. It's sexy, it's cool, it has a weird tension bubbling just below the surface, all the way through the album. It has one of my favourite bass+drum sounds of all time. I love that pixie weirdo Marc Bolan. His trembly singing that Devendra Banhart ripped off wholesale. My only gripe is the album title and artwork. Iconic as it it, it's grossly misleading. It promises an erupting guitar monster and what you get instead is a laid back, subdued chill record. It reminds me of those horror-ific Iron Maiden and Helloween album covers after which hearing what amounts to rock opera was a real head-scratcher.

9 Not many make me wanna simultaneously rock out and bop out like mark bolan

Love this album psych rock all the way thru

Its electric

How did I not know this album previously? Such good musicianship.

yeah finally some rock and roll with a little bit of folk in some songs...this is really close to my style, so i'm jamming to all of the songs

Loved it! Was groovin to every track, will definitely be playing this album again!

I think this is a really really great road trip album that totally deserves its spot in the top 1001 albums. Certainly near the top of my list. I don’t think this is a controversial opinion

I hadn’t even heard of T. Rex until I got recommended this album and I can totally see why this was so influential It’s got a great mix of psychedelic, classic rock, glam and all the good stuff packed into such a catch and fun album

Who knew i loved glam rock! Beats the shit out of that u2 album. FIVE! (Shoutout my dad and mom)

Cool sound. Would revisit

Solid solid solid

Classic

I'm a big fan of glam rock and this is one of the required listening experiences. It's by far the best T. Rex album. Jeepster is one of my favorite songs on here, and from the entire decade. Pure glam perfection

Awesome

> The Beatles

Five stars

I knew this album inside and out over a decade ago when I 'found' it for myself. In this listen it's banger after banger and I totally forgot Bang A Gong was on this one which was a cool moment! When Rip Off started I was like, ok, here's the first kind of rough one and I checked the songlist to find it's the final track, haha. It might be a 4.5 for me as I totally wore it out but I'm rating over the last Rex album for a bump to 5!

Reminds me of a less weird Dr. John

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Great album!

Lost my shape. This record hits, it rolls, it pulls you in and then chucks back out, no rope required. What do we love in rock and roll? Something going wrong. Here the foursome are finally hitting each other over what they are and what they think they are. And on top of that Eno's in the room. Always knows when to turn up, at exactly the wrong time, to shake things up does Brian. And it worked. Jerry owns this record, his guitar work is a key feature here, he's got Andy Gill in there with Carlos Alomar. Chris and Tina hit their groove and David is completely off his face. It's so good. This was a HSC record for me, exam prep soundtrack. And I forever associate it with Jim Beam bourbon as I was busy staring at the spinning night sky at one of my end of year parties while Cross Eyed and Painless did its thing. I'm still waiting, fuck yeah!

It was ok. I don’t really like Jazz so this is the highest rating I’m gonna give

Glamasaurus Rex. Tragic extinction event robbed us of this fabulous species.

This shit kicked ass.

One of those albums that I have heard a bunch, love, and can't really remember not ever having as a staple in my rotation. An easy 5 stars for me.

So groovy

I actually ended up really liking this

Very nice

Great.

Love this one, really great album even with the extra B sides all the way through. I love hearing some of these that are the evolution of the classic Rockin roll, some folk, a lot of different styles done well. One of my fav discoveries on this list so far, 5 star.

One of those moments when you stumble upon a critical influence for a bunch of your favourite bands. Fuzzy, sly, laidback. Big fan.

Innovative for its time.

I don't think I'd ever listened to a T Rex album from start to finish. It was fun. Would listen again. EDIT: I've listened again; it's great!

I wonder how many British teenagers lost their virginity to this record in 1971? It’s very slinky and sexy. Bang a Gong! Indeed. Not much mistaking what that’s about. I’m not completely sure what a Jeepster is but for sure the song is about boys and girls having fun together. They both chug along beautifully. It’s boogie rock but with a British sensibility and I’m pretty sure producer Tony Visconti had a lot to do with that sound. The closest thing I know in sound is the Visconti produced Man Who Sold the World by David Bowie. Girl, Cosmic Dancer and Life’s a Gas are slower dances but also great. The rest is not bad. I’d give it 4.5 if I could but I’m happy enough to round it up rather than down.

I almost gave this a 4 instead of a 5, and I realized I was docking points because it was too perfect for too long. What am I like???

Electric Warrior by T. Rex is, without a doubt, one of my favourite albums of all time. This is easily the most effortless 5/5 I’ve ever given. Favourite song: Cosmic Dancer ranks in my top five songs of all time—it's absolutely brilliant. Add to that the swagger of Jeepster and the iconic Get It On (Bang a Gong), and you're already looking at a masterpiece. And that’s just scratching the surface—there’s so much more to love. Least favourite: Honestly, there isn’t a single weak track. Every song earns its place and contributes to the album’s magic. Album artwork: Simple, cool, and elegant. The cover perfectly reflects the album’s stylish and timeless vibe.

Lets get loud

Really great album with very good production for that time.

I have a soft spot for T. Rex and this album in particular.

Thanks for making me

This is one of my favouritessss. A Desert island discs album. From the gentle and tender (Monolith, Life’s a Gas, Girl) to the unbelievably fun (cosmic dancer, mambo sun, get it on). Just a stellar album and boyyyy is Marc Bolan one of the most gorgeous men. What I’d do for that hair.

love to bang the gong and get it on if ya know what i mean😼😼

와 그냥 존나 쿨

Really enjoyed this, solid and consistent. A great sound and some great songs that still stand up. One of those influential albums that deserves it.

Oh I really needed a 5* album to get me back on the 1001 album express. It's been a slog over the last few weeks. Loved this

Massively influential.

An album that sounds like sex. The vocals are among the sexiest ever recorded and the beat of the music is pure sex at its naughtiest, at its most joyful, it seduces your ears & then rest of you all the way to your toes. Electric Warrior was pivotal in popularizing glam rock. It would go on to influence in one way or another any music that mattered for the next decade plus. No punk band in 1975/76 (at least in the UK) not have a copy of this album in their practice room. A huge hit in the UK in 1971 & a moderate one in the US the same year. Go on & get it on but first get this album your partner will thank you!

I've listened to this album 4 times today and am confident that I find it to firmly be a 4.5/5. I find a really interesting diversity in the bands that I see inspired by this album - Wilco, The Black Keys, amongst others. I haven't studied the lyrics, but the sound is just interesting and unique. Will come back to this in the future. Round up just because it's the first time in a while that I listened to an album I haven't previously discovered and really enjoyed it.

Amazing vibe, just so cool and filled with great hooks. Lots of classics on this one, banger after banger.

Love love love

Informs a lot of future glam and metal with the riffs and jams on this album.

I loved it. Musically, the arrangements are usually simple, or even understated, but every song makes an impact because the band ooze cool and charisma. None the worse for the lyrics being a bit trippy in places.

As fresh as ever. Some of the albums don’t deserve their place in this list but this one really does

This is a surprise. I already owned this album but hardly had any memory of it. It's really excellent. Although it is supposed to be the birth of glam rock, this is far beyond any cheap, cheesy or bubblegum-like music, this is very well thought through rock. It is characterized by a jumpiness that keeps your attention. The arrangements are really strong. And yes, like more often, the big hit (Get it on) is probably the poorest or least interesting track of the album.

Support your local electrician. Without them, we would be lost in society.

Oh yeah!!! Electric Warrior is already one of my favorite albums of all time. I listened to this last week, and the week before that.

Excelente disco

Van begin tot eind knallen. Echt zo'n plaat waar je soms ontzettend zin in kan hebben. De strings geven een aantal nummers ook echt een mooie extra laag.

This an effortlessly cool album. An indulgence to listen to, like knocking back a glass of your favourite beverage on a double bank holiday. It’s confident, unabashed glam rock produced to perfection with a few unexpected surprises for a millenial listener who has heard snippets of multiple songs on adverts, tv film and the like over the years. Iconic. Glad to have discovered this but a shame to have taken 1001 to do so. But paling in comparison to the tragedy of Marc Bolan’s untimely death.

classic album, so many bangers

its a bop

Haven't listened to this in full since I was a teenager. Better than I remember. Every song had me groozin'. No misses. Perfect album?

SO good

Vinyl: Yes Fav: Jeepster Notes: This is a top 10, maybe top 5 album for me

Have the live version of this.. gotta love a bit of T.Rex

What a rad album

Yeah, alright. It's been a little bit since I've gotten a legitimate 5/5 But this one from track one to the end was fantastic. No notes.

Fantastic, great from start to finish. Favourite tracks: Mambo Sun & The Motivator Definitely worth a relisten. 5/5

Bang a gone, get it on

Basically ground zero for glam rock. Influenced a number of bands from the New York Dolls to the Black Keys. Big fan of this one

Hell yeah

Top ten all time.

This is an excellent Glam Rock album. It is a shame Marc Bolan died so soon. His influence is felt by many artists, even today. Although I prefer "The Slider" to this album. With songs like "Jeepster" and "Planet Queen", you can't go wrong.

Classic!

Это шикарный альбом, запись, саунд и музыка - все песни можно переслушивать бесконечно.

Great groovy album. Great singer. Stand out song - Hot Love

another glam-rock classic from the Cosmic Dancer

It's glam rock whilst it was still cool. A bit of slow rock and roll, a bit of blues, and all the bells and whistles of Bolan Glam. Every track is a banger. Such an infectious groove throughout just dripping with cool, camp sleaze. I was slightly surprised to be reminded it was made in 1971. Other than the old school production quality (which I love) it sounds 15 years younger than it is. Great album and nice to see an old favourite on this list.

Varför har jag inte lyssnat på detta förut. Fantastisk platta! Fem!

Good music. Album reminds of a Mumford and Sons album where each song sounds similar to the last and they could literally be melded as one and the entire album a single long song.

I like this song because I like the beat and the instruments. I like this song too I also like the beat but the songs all sound the same

I have loved this album for a long time. Mambo Sun opens it with an awesome groove and the killer guitar tone which sets the stage for the rest of the album. The thing about T. Rex is that no one else sounds like T. Rex. Great stuff here.

Wouldn't listen again, now I understand what the word funky means. That said wasn't bad. No songs saved

whole album felt like that star man song. I liked it

I love this album. It still sounds so contemporary to me too.

possibly the coolest album of all time.

Definitely need to explore more T. Rex. I loved this. The hits are familiar but I know so little about the band. I'll start to change that by spinning this one again.

"Gotta put my long legs on."

I must be a paleontologist the way I love T. Rex

The first 4 T. Rex albums are pretty much perfection in my opinion. Still listen to them regularly. Such as shame we didn't to see what Bolan would do later in life, because I have no doubt there many more amazing works to come

Electric Warrior sits imperious in the perfect brilliant/stupid singularity toward which all rock music tends. His folkier music before this is delightfully ridiculous, his heavier music after this is as subtle as a werewolf howl on the moors but this record is a like a lit cigarette trapped in amber - perfect distilled coolness.

Ballads, rock 'n' roll joints, riffs, grooves, this album does so much. Never really listened to it before but will listen to again.

Consistently on my top 10 albums of all time list. And probably on my top 10 album covers of all time list. So yea, 5 stars.

Truly unique, their sound, Mark Bolans voice and writing make T-Rex totally a stand out band.

10s across the board! now thats an album!

The best. I love T.Rex so much. No notes.

Produce Tony Visconti... No incluye Hot Love, lanzada previamente y que es otro de los mejores temas de su carrera.

First, confession time. I was today years old when I learned T. wrote "Get It On". I proclaim to be "into music". I am a liar. Second, I know this project and the reviews are sorta a "music diary/journal" in a sense, and those reviews are PUBLIC. So it's risky for me to write personal things here. That said, this tapped into some feels I'm feeling in the best positive way. And goddamn, this thing STRUTS. Every riff, every groove, every ridiculous lyric - it’s all dripping with a kind of effortless, leather-clad cool. It’s dirty but glamorous, loose but laser-focused. The guitars grind like they’ve been up all night drinking champagne in a dive bar. Feels like if The Rolling Stones got high, put on sequins, and decided they were too sexy for blues. Spins: All Day Playlist Additions: - Mambo Sun - Jeepster - Lean Woman Blues - Get It On - Life's A Gas

Decadent rock and roll swagger. I love the whole vibe.

I'm not that high on T. Rex overall, but I think it all comes together for Marc Bolan and the gang on this album. I think it has a super cool sound with great production from Tony Visconti and Bolan's songwriting is peak here. This album kicked of the glam rock era, and while it was often imitated, only Bowie really was able to duplicate it. Stand outs for me are "Cosmic Dancer", "Jeepster", "Monolith", and "Life's a Gas", but really the whole album is filled with highlights. "Lean Woman Blues" is the closest thing to a dud on the album. 5 stars.

So so good, I feel like I'm always in the mood for this one. It still sounds so fresh to me. I remember the first time listening to this, just blown away instantly. One of the landmark albums of the glam rock movement and absolutely lived up to the hype for me. The only tough question is if I give a perfect score. I think it’s just a hair under for me. Rating: 4.9

THe best album (Top 3) marc bolan my king every song 10/10

Belters start to finish. I've listened to it too many times to get full enjoyment unfortunately. Bolan's crash site was the first place I visited when I moved to London in my 20s. It's a weird place, highly recommend.

I've listened to a few T. Rex songs and have two of these songs from this album on my liked songs (Mambo Sun) and (Life's a Gas). T. Rex is very chill while also still being very cool rock and roll. Cosmic Dancer is another favorite. The strings that come in on the chorus make my brain feel gooey and good. I hate that Jeepster reminds me of the Tarantino film but it's such a classic banger that surprisingly didn't get more air time. Not that Tarantino films are bad, I just dislike him as a person. I added Jeepster to my liked songs, again. I feel like Spotify will just play certain artists so much that you become burned out by the song, which is why I originally removed it. Hopefully I don't have the same problem. Monolith is an interesting down tempo song where Marc wails above his slight fuzz guitar. The harmonies in the back just add the cherry on top. I was unaware that Bolan died in 1977 right before the final release of their last album. Such a loss considering the potential he had for further projects. I'm certain he would have had a thriving and interesting solo run. RIP Marc... Lean Woman Blues is interesting. It suggest he has fallen for a woman who doesn't feel the same way about him, thus blues. The solo is a choatic masterpiece. We all know "Get it On" the most played song of T. Rex. But for some reason I never paid attention to the lyrics so much. Built like a car? Does that mean she has curves? Teeth like a hydra. Now this could mean she speaks like the devil or is a native english speaker? Who knows to be honest. He mentions slim in the beginning so maybe he is saying she is slim waisted but curvy in other places, thus she dances when she walks. I noticed a parallel with Planet Queen and The Pixies "where is my mind." The intros are almost exactly the same. Fair to say The Pixies would be influenced by T. Rex. Turns out I am right... "In a 1988 interview, the Pixies' songwriter said that T. Rex's "if it sounds cool" approach influenced his writing." Is this entire album about one woman? Every song is about a woman. Oh I guess it's about androgyny and sexuality rather than one woman. So Marc is just a sexual being. Which makes sense for Glam Rock. Girl is probably the weakest song on the album so far but still better than many other bands good songs. The Motivator is quite similar to the groove of Get it On. I wonder if this song was played together with Get it On. "Life's a Gas" is missing out on a potential life partner but realizing it all really doesn't matter at all does it? Poetic of him to say "I hope it's going to last." Realization of ones own mortality. So Marc just came into the scene, started a revolution in music and went back to his home planet. Okay Rip Off is a gem. Honestly sounds like a modern punk band song. The lyrics suggest to me gay and straight sex, "rockin in the nude, I'm feeling such a dude" ... "See your baby's stud, sliding in my mud." I mean come on, pretty straightforward there. I love it. Being bisexual myself I am really relating to this album and it's sexuality. I'm sure if everyone in the 70s listened to this without hearing the lyrics they would have never known, and perhaps would have been less received in the more conservative 70s. Of course hippies were different then. Raw Ramp is the 70s version of "Roses" by Outkast. The lyrics at the end suggest he was seduced by an older woman. The end also goes back to Bang a Gong style. Reminds me of Pink Floyd using overarching themes in their albums to tie it in together. I'm sure live they could just jam and weave in and out of these songs. More like a jam band. Overall this album deserves it's place in the catalogue of most influential albums. This sounds like it came out in the early 2000s because it was so far ahead of it's time. After reading a bit on Marc and his career it appears he wanted to always keep this sound in all his future projects and either didn't want to change or didn't know how to proceed. Many compared him to Bowie who was also influenced by T. Rex. The difference is that Bowie changed with the times. Who's to say if Marc hadn't died that he would have changed or made a more experimental album. Either way this album is a crowning achievement that any artist could be proud of. The themes represented in here appeal more to me than Bowies tongue in cheek approach. I noticed a lot of reoccurring lyrics in this album. One word used a lot is mud, and walking. This has inspired me to want to know more about Marc.

I've loved this album for such a long time. Marc Bolan's lyrics were often silly or nonsensical but he often offered up such great grooves.

There will never be a time, place, or occasion where I won't be happy to hear this album. Every single song is great. Accessible and catchy while being interesting and fresh even 50 years later. Love T-Rex.

Great, old psyche rock. Early punk. Really good stuff

I’m surprised genuinely thought I had this one but I haven’t… I actually find electric warrior to be quite samey throughout the tracklist, like cosmic dancer, girl and lifes a gas, basically all the slow ones give off the same feeling. Funnily enough they’re actually some of my favourites on here. But on initial listening electric warrior didn’t grip me for that reason. Get it on and the motivator are kinda too similar but at least it’s not as direct as get it on and cigarettes and alcohol. Monolith is really forgettable. People hate on the last track rip off but its so different from the others honestly making it more enjoyable for me. Strange album closer but still. Jeepsters awesome though gives the album a 5/5

very groovy, had a lot of fun listening to this one

All these years later I still have no idea what a Jeepster is, but this shit is perfect.

Fantastic

unimaginably great album. it got me smiling all evening this album has a lot of great songs and i got a little bit of nostalgia pure satisfaction

FUCK YES!!

absolute no skip album. takes me through the full range of human emotion. rip marc ❤️

This is the 6th album I’m rating and I’ve only listened to Bang a Gong (Get It On). I’ve heard good things about the album and the song was pretty good. So I hope this’ll be good. Mambo Sun - Not Adding to my Playlist. I don’t think the singing style works very well with the instrumentals. Cosmic Dancer - Not Adding to my Playlist. This is not what I was expecting going into this album. Jeepster - Adding to my Playlist. Sounds pretty good. I like the singing style. Monolith - Adding to my Playlist. The opening is really good. I really like this. Lean Woman Blues - Adding to my Playlist. I think I love this album. Bang a Gong (Get It On) - Adding to my Playlist. Only song I’ve listened to before today. I didn’t add it before because of the lyrics but I don’t care anymore. Planet Queen - Adding to my Playlist. The vocals in this song are fun. Girl - Not Adding to my Playlist. Singing is a little annoying and I don’t like the instrumentals that much. The Motivator - Adding to my Playlist. Good but the singing is a bit annoying. Life’s a Gas - Adding to my Playlist. It sounds very nice and peaceful. Rip Off - Not Adding to my Playlist. Not a fan of the singing in this song. All in all I liked 7/11 songs. This was pretty good and was interesting as it was not what I expected from listening to Bang a Gong (Get It On).

Ah yes, Glam Rock. The golden age of the subgenre, while short, produced plenty a-track that are stellar, with Marc Bolan's T. Rex making some of the best Glam tracks there is. To make a long story short, this is almost all killer, no filler. Solid 5 Stars.

I’m at a 4.5 that I’ll bump up to a 5. We haven’t really gotten too much 70s glam rock, but I hope they all sound kinda like this from here on out – I thought this album just *sounded* cool as hell, with the guitar seemingly jumping back and forth through time to deliver whatever vibe or mood Marc Bolan (another bane of my trivia existence) wanted to get, and he grabbed a whole lot of them. There’s a bit of the Beatles, a bit of Bowie, a bit of Hendrix, a bit of Ray Charles, a bit of the White Stripes & Cage The Elephant, et cetera – his guitar is, for the most part, what anchors the album and makes it feel really compelling. I’ll give big props to the percussion as well, though; when it had to step up and really deliver on any crazy rhythms, it did it without getting in the way of the guitar, and they work in a really good harmony. His vocals are pretty good too, if a bit inconsistent – on some tracks, they have a really good impact, and really compliment the soundscapes (Lean Woman Blues comes to mind for me), but on a few tracks, they feel a bit paint-by-numbers (Jeepster & Planet Queen come to mind). Overall though, they don’t ever detract from the album; I just wish there was a bit more consistency to how much they truly added. I suppose that’s kind of why I’m at a 4.5 instead of a flat 5 – for as good as this is as a top to bottom package, and for as pioneering as it certainly sounds for 1971, I think there’s just a bit of fluff throughout the album. I’m not saying to delete any individual tracks, but a few of them go a bit long, or simply settle a bit. Case in point: I really liked the last stretch, from tracks 8 to 11, but for my ears, it’s very easy to notice that they do settle into a “first verse is the whole song” trope, and while most of them are compelling enough to ignore it, it’s just kind of biting at me for whatever reason. It feels like they could’ve dragged a little more out, to tell a more coherent story in each track as opposed to just settling for capturing the mood again and coasting on that. With that said, it’s just too good of an album to let my own little nitpicks get in the way of how much I enjoyed this – it’s a really good 40 minutes, it flies by, and even when it doesn’t feel like it’s flying by, it’s just got enough depth to stay captivating regardless, whether it’s in his vocals, his lyrics, or the instrumentation. It’s a bit rare for the album to hit on a consistent harmony with all 3, but even with just 2 of the 3, it’s still really strong glam rock. I liked it a lot, and I feel pretty good about bumping it up to a 5.

Love this

Sounds more timeless than classic rock. Fantastic album all the way through

Groove, big chill Cosmic dancer sad What’s a jeepster Way more sad cowboy depth Bang a gong have heard before (this is CCR?) Peak 70s sex innuendo It really doesn’t matter at all, life’s a game Rip off- crunchy chords prog baby, that’s a math rock precursor if I ever heard it

Effortlessly cool. Fun. Fits basically any mood. Just a fantastic record.

mambo sun opens with a groove that grabs you right away. it’s got this cool, laid-back swagger that sets the tone for the whole album. remember the hypnotic rhythm—it’s effortless but totally captivating. cosmic dancer hits you in a different way. dreamy, poetic, and a bit vulnerable. it’s bittersweet, but also one of the most memorable tracks. don’t miss the emotional depth—it’s more than just glam. jeepster pure fun. that riff is straight-up infectious, and bolan’s voice just oozes charisma. it’s bouncy, catchy, and total glam rock gold. you’ll catch yourself singing along without even realizing it. monolith weird, groovy, and atmospheric. short but packs a punch. remember it as the spaced-out, experimental track—it feels like a breather from the bigger hits. lean woman blues bluesy and raw, with a stripped-back vibe. it’s different from the rest of the album, but that groove still pulls you in. it’s bolan showing a more grounded side of himself. electric warrior the title track. it’s got that swagger you expect, but with a darker, deeper vibe. not an instant hook, but it sticks with you. remember it for its edge and how it feels like a fitting theme for the album. bang a gong (get it on) this is the one. that riff, that chorus—it’s pure rock anthem energy. you can’t help but move to it. this is the track that defines glam rock for a reason. planet queen spacey, mysterious, and hypnotic. bolan’s voice floats over the rhythm in a way that pulls you in. it’s not loud, but it’s unforgettable once it sinks in. girl light, catchy, and playful. it’s got a poppier feel, but still totally charming. not as deep as the others, but it’s fun and gives the album a nice shift in tone. the motivator upbeat and driving. this one’s all about that infectious rhythm. it’s got a raw, punky energy that makes it stand out. remember the momentum—it doesn’t let up. life’s a gas bittersweet and reflective. it’s slow and introspective, with a sense of fleetingness. this is the one that feels like a quiet, emotional end to the album. rip off fast, raw, and rebellious. it’s a punchy, no-nonsense track that ends the album with a bang. remember it for its raw energy and how it contrasts with the rest of the album.

British garage-glam from the '70s. I went thru a T.Rex phase in the 90's, probably after I saw the opening scene of Billy Elliott. Even more intriguing was seeing Billy Bob Thornton playing blackjack in Vegas Vegas wearing a much-too-small for him vintage yellow T.Rex shirt. He's a sufficiently weird guy. I remember thinking, 'if he's here, then Angelina Jolie must be here too...' (I looked for the vile of blood around his neck, but didn't see it). It's really nice to see T.Rex here especially with the resurgence of the dirty 70's guitar skrit we're seeing so much of lately. Sheer Mag, Slow Fiction, Ty Segall, Sunflower Bean, etc. Great sound.

FUCK YES!! 500Billion/5

Super!

One of the best albums ever pure bowie + iggy pop + early morrissey, i love the riffs :3

Gran disco

Pues muy chulo.

It's a great pop rock and actually you realise what an influential guitarist Marc Bolan was. It's pretty rare that you can say you birthed an entire genre. But nice one. Welcome glam rock!!!

All killer, no filler, perfect pop!

Such a good album, get it on is such a sick song, but Cosmic Dancer is also a banger.

Absolutely brilliant. Every song is SUCH A TUNE and seemingly effortlessly as well. Peak glam rock and I can’t say a bad word about it

Clean, perfectly executed rock and roll. Every note feels completely deliberate. This album is just exactly right. It also hugely influenced many of my favorite bands.

det är inte lika bra som the slider men ändå jävligt bra.

Solid Gold Genius - "I got stars in my beard, and I feel real weird, for you ..." Slinky, sly, and very special. The strings and saxophones on Get It On are especially glorious.

Excellent

Had only heard the one song but really ended up enjoying the whole album

Always enjoy T Rex!

This is a glamrock masterpiece, T-Rex finest work.

Atmospheric, subtle and in your face all at the same time. One of the best albums I've heard in a long time

This is the shit, right here. 5/5 Highlights: Cosmic Dancer Monolith Lean Woman Blues Get It On The King of the Mountain Cometh - B Side

Glam Anthems galore.

About a week in and the best album so far! So many great tracks on their own. Introduced me to songs I have always known, but never paid attention to who performed them.

4.5 maar dat kan ik niet geven, heb al vaak genoeg een 5 gegeven dus dan krijgt deze hem ook

Electric Warrior launch the Glam Rock mouvement. That it it could be the only reason why its here, but on top of this this a an incredible reccord fill with great songs. The artwork is in my opinion a wonderfull one, a gold silouhette of Marc Bolan on a black background simple, but perfect. The name is pretty interesting, Electric Warrioir is a reference to the fact that they change their musicale direction a year prior, from psychedelic folk to pop rock, and in this case Glam Rock. The album open with 2 relatively slow track Mambo Sun and Cosmic Dancer. Both are incredible lyricaly and show a great writtingship by Bolan. Very poetic and fantasic lyrics with a very good music, some of the Best T.rex songs. Jeepster is one of my favorite, a bit more rockabilly and inspired by Howlin' wolf with more sexually explicit lyrics. Monolith is a bit like the first 2 songs, pretty slower with fantasist lyrics andf a reverse solo (Revolver Beatles style). Lean Woman Blues is a pure blues rock song, showing their great versatility and the range of their talent. I just love this song, the heavy riff and lyrics. Get It On is their most notable hit, the specific performance of this song on Top Of The Pop created Glam Rock. The riff of the song is known almost by everyone and the lyrics about sex are just so well written, unfortunatly its probabkly the only song people remeber from them, but we have to admit its by far their best. Its a perfect song, addictive, dancing, pure, sexual its everything Glam Rock should be. The song was of course a huge hit in the UK, and did pretty well outside, but T.Rex is pretty much only known for this song. Planet Queen is more accoustic in constrast, but honneslty one of the best song in the album, Marc's voice is really incredible here (like in all the song yes) Girl is a beautifull song, simple direct and mouving i love it. The motivator is in my opinion not so good, like not bad just not at the level of the other songs Life's a Gas as nothing particular Rip Off is probably the loudest song, with a heavy riff and fast lyrics, proto-punk in other terms. So obviously this album is a 5/5 just so much good song, so much more than just Get It On, one of the best Glam Rock album of all times all the way up with Ziggy Stardust. The legacy of this album is huge, for the following glam rock with artist like David Bowie, The New York Dolls and so many other glam bands that will take lesson from this reccord. But also in other music genra, like punk rock and glam metal that will be influenced by T.Rex. Finaly Marc Bolan, the charismatic leader is an underated guitarist, song written and frontman he is up there with all the greatest this album is nothing without him.

Wait, so Marc Bolan was obsessed with my favorite books, Lord of the Rings, and went on to start glam rock and inspire my favorite band, The Cure? Everything in my life suddenly makes sense. On a serious note, I feel like I’ve tried and failed to get into T. Rex before, but maybe I wasn’t listening to the right songs (beyond Get It On, which is a banger that everyone knows). This album is a lot of fun. It’s silly and campy, but it’s catchy. It also feels way ahead of its time. While it obviously owes a lot to blues and early rock pioneers like Chuck Berry, as well as the Velvet Underground, there’s a clear shift toward the harder glam rock that didn’t exist yet. It reminds me of George Harrison too, with its combination of slightly silly lyrics, spirituality, and deceptively simple melodies. But this album had significant influence of its own, notably on David Bowie (and the rest of glam rock). The campiness and theatricality also no doubt influenced the founders of goth. 5/5 — would listen again

1971 great music.
