Conflicted ab how to rate this bc I tried listening this morning when I was driving and it wasnt stimulating enough of noise so I stopped listening and thought I wasn’t gonna listen to the album but then later I played it when I was looking at Christmas lights w my friend and it was good background music and was able to talk over it comfortably. So like I think it’s 8/10 for background music but like 4/10 for listening experience. Thought the instrumental stuff was so boring and there were a few songs I didnt love even as background music… gonna avg to a 6/10 but don’t think numbers do a good job describing how I feel ab this album

Emperor tomato ketchup.. what a goofy name. Did not enjoy the first song so I was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the album. The electric techno vibe is not really my thing and I have too unrefined of an attention span for the amount of instrumentals/non singing bits present so don’t think I’d listen again… but I actually liked most of it, the French was fun I think I liked it better than the English parts 7/10 rounded down bc I don’t think I’d listen to any of the songs just cause

Had a 9/10 listening experience bc I was sat down w an absolutely gorgeous view of a lake w a bunch of cows infront of me and I did absolutely nothing else so I felt very in tune w nature. -1 because my brother and dad slightly disturbed me. Idk if any of yall seen a cow get up from sleeping and do a lil stretch but it’s SUPER cute. Esp baby cows. Kinda crazy how long they are able to sit still and stand still. Feel like i don’t see cows not eating very often so it was cool to see them chilling.

Grew up listening to lots of classical indian music and hear this guys name all the time n he lived in San Diego before he died so aunties would also talk ab seeing him live. He’s a super adulterous man super funny how the aunties never feel the need to talk ab that 😒. But yeah I just don’t love sitar on his own and enjoy traditional music best when it’s accompanied by dance bc I really enjoy watching barthanatyam. Also lack of lyrics made it a bit boring. I also don’t know how I feel ab the fact that this guys main goal(I think )was to get ppl who aren’t Indian to be educated ab our music. 6.5/10

Pretty damn horrendous but I got through it which is better than I was expecting and deserves some credit ig. I’m just thinking ab how someone definitely produced this and listened and okayed it which is pretty bold and pretentious. I have lots of thoughts… First song felt like gossip girl vibes w the talking over the instrumentals being p sparse, rest of the album kinda felt like a movie soundtrack. Idk how I’d rate if I read the Wikipedia after I listened bc I really liked the instrumentals, but the French man talking is very not sexy to me… and him repeatedly saying melody is so gross and also not musically entertaining either !! also the sex noises in en melody were very disturbing! Apparently the album cover is a photo of his partner who is pregnant and 18 yrs younger than him.. and they got together while she was 22 and married to someone else which is interesting ig. And she’s the one featured in some of the songs. I like the instrumentals but read way too much Wikipedia ab this to not think it’s super fucked up and perverted and be icked out by the voices. Not gonna rate out of 10 bc idk what I would even put

English post punk is super bizzare to me but I fw this 8/10

This is not the bharatanatyam this is the cha cha cha 😂 that line made me chuckle. There’s something about old timey Indian music that makes me so warm and fuzzy inside.. I didn’t grow up watching Bollywood movies, but this sound in general is very nostalgic for me so im def biased. I feel like this album was def chosen cause there are white people in the movie and it was also released in English, not sure if that’s bad or good bc it’s def more globally present bc of that. There’s def Bollywood songs I like more than any of the songs on this album, but I’ve never listened to their albums so don’t know if there’s anything I think would be better suited for the list.. I think the music is good enough, I liked a few songs but there were also a few boring ones. Liked some of the trumpet bits but overall I think the parts w/ more western influence and English I liked less. 7.5/10

totally not what I was expecting... haven't really listened to sufjan Stevens but I have a friend whose obsessed and I thought I was gonna be sobbing through the whole thing but it wasn't too depressing. I really liked the music and the variety in instruments and I felt like the whole album was curated very nicely. big fan 9/10

It was pretty funky and I could feel the story but I think this would work a lot better paired w a visual art like film or dance or sum. I didn’t love it as just background music bc I don’t love the sound of the trombone(?) sometimes but it was pretty solid overall. reading the wikipedia and its talking ab how the lyrics are more like short stories than pop songs w/ choruses... not super catchy bc of that but I very much enjoy the mellow energy and think the singing and music flows nicely, feel like listening again would make me like it more? I think this makes for excellent background music but in the sense that I want to listen to this as I am living... like I think it has much more redeeming qualities than the other albums I've thought of as background music (like the others feel like background music bc they aren't interesting enough to be listening music), it feels intentionally curated or sum, like a nice dinner to this sounds so classy chic, and as Kats would say, very much romantic. Also the perfect amount of stimulation for me to do homework while listening. also also, lydllwild is a place a bit north of San Diego and its mayor is a dog (https://www.mayormax.com/index.htm -- I've met him and Miley's met him too!) super awesome place for some hiking and just hanging out, ik this is called Idlewild but the association is there and brings more good energy. edited: this is one of my favorite albums ever I love it so much its amazing I have the entire album in my liked songs.

trying to catch up on the albums I missed and I just listened to a 70s album that sounded like every other rock album ever and was boring. ik this is like 30+ years later and maybe its time maybe something else but this feels elevated compared to a lot of the other rock albums on this list. there's some monotony but its monotonous good if that makes sense... 8.4/10

Oklahoma is so gorgeous could make anything(most things) sound a little bit good, I think this had a baseline good so was p decent. rating based on how I think I’d feel while not driving. As a celebrity I really just cannot stand Justin Timberlake… the whole Janet Jackson thing, that song from the trolls movie, his face, etc… I haven’t listened to a bunch of his music and like I feel like this album isn’t that good. Seems like he’s got a lot of ideas and the execution is not very admirable. Think my hate of jt might be influencing my rating, 3.5/10 side note, that one movie w him and mila kunis is pretty good but that’s despite his presence not bc of it 🤷‍♀️

Pretty solid, I was highkey grinding my philosophy essay when I was listening to this and I put this at way higher volume than I usually listen to music and it did a good job of tuning out everything else. Oh baby. The hour and five minutes during which I listened to this album were very memorable. My mom decided to drive so I was back seat enjoying the ride listening to this then my phone died and then I was like ok if I’m gonna sit up front to charge I’ll just drive then jethro tull cooked a bit too hard bc I was cruising at a hundo and then I saw a cop slowed down but not enough and got pulled over for speeding and my license expired so I just have a printed piece of paper for the extension and also since the car is a brand new used car they hadn’t mailed all the paperwork yet so didn’t have registration for the officer🤪. I ugly cried to the officer and we had to call my dad for proof of purchase and he is furious w me and Darlington car is in jeopardy and now for the rest of my life I have to drive like an ancient old lady with a massive fucking barbed stick up her ass so I don’t go broke from paying my insurance and everyone will hate me for driving so pathetical and lawful. #makingcruisecontrolmybitch Anways ab the album I actually really liked it and it’s so snazzy and quirky 9/10

feel like its hard not to compare this to Fleetwood Mac's other stuff (mostly rumours ig), its def good but not as compelling as the stuff ik better imo. I’ve been meaning to listen to Janelle Monaes music. Saw her on a Instagram reel ab good met gala looks n feel like ik of her more from her acting but im glad i listened to this. The album was a bit long but i feel like it did a good job of having a cohesive variety in its sound and it sounded good. 8/10

Something about this makes it not speak to me. It’s very boring, maybe something ab the lack of excitingness of the instrumentals but also there’s not much going on w her voice, like it’s simple but it’s not good enough to be simple. But also I am disgustingly congested and my hearing is shot so maybe I’m missing something. There was that one song with noises I really just didn’t like. On a more positive note I’m back home and very excited to rate things at a reasonable hour of the night! 4.5/10

Maybe I would feel better ab this if it wasn’t a live album. I think live albums have a time n place and this list is not the place bc usually I only listen to/appreciate live versions if I already love & am familiar w the song. 6/10

I really did not like Thriller! Probably because I am such an MJ fan and you can’t be using a good name for bad music. The rest of the album wasn’t really great either. However being on the road drowned out some of the noise so I don’t think It was quite as bad as it should have been , 5/10 ca->pa rating #6

When Lucas sent the thing in the slack I was not sure if this was gonna be one of those things where u have to have refined taste to hate it, clearly not! This is hot ass! Total rubbish. Had to roll up the windows in the car at intersections while this was playing bc having someone I know(or don’t know for that matter) pulling up next to me and hearing this coming from my vehicle is my personal hell. The ego on this guy, my goodness. Anyone who doesn’t have a problem w his music should take a look at the public image and Controversies section of his Wikipedia. apparently he’s a loud n proud republican & gun nut. Public display of the confederate flag?! Are you kidding me. Racist, misogynist, homophobe, transphobe AND makes bad music, this guy is not my cup of tea nor should he be anyone else’s.

I’m disappointed. IMO head over heels is byfar the best song on this album, everybody wants to rule the world is fine, and the rest are all forgettable and not really that fun to listen to. The first two songs are wayy too damn long and so is the last song. 6.5/10 (the math in my head: 4/10 + .75 everybody wants to rule the world + 1.75 head over heels)

“Can you turn that stupid music off”-my brother. Usually he’s way out of line but today I think I agree w him. Not really into the electronic techno thing they’ve got going on. Not offensive but most definitely not exciting. I think my reviews have been unduly critical lately and I blame that on my mother so apologies to everyone on her behalf. 4/10

Thought this was p good for how old it is. the voices are a bit annoying kind of and some of the songs kinda just remind me of interacting w/ a girl who is super whiny and thinks everyone else is the problem not her. But overall enjoyed the energy I think 7/10

To contextualize my pessimism: i am writing this rn and it is 10:54(past my bedtime) and I am sat on the floor of my garage next to my dog waiting for the family friends we had over for dinner to leave. No hate to them but I’m tired and wanna sleep. This album did nothing to help my mood. So mid. It’s been too long since I’ve given an album a 5. I want to be fired up and excited and got going. This didn’t do anything for me and I hope the next albums are better. Again there was nothing wrong w it but it was just fine 5/10

I don’t get it. Why would u make an album so long. Disc 2 is an easy 5, disc 1 felt like so long ago I don’t even know, maybe like a 3. It’s hard to pay attention to what I like when there’s so much it kinda blends together. But like some of this was really good. 1979, SO GOOD. I liked a lot of the stuff that wasn’t super noise heavy. I really wish there was just an album that had the good songs from this. I guess that’s what playlists are for. makes me appreciate mixtapes. Would prolly melt if someone ever made me a mixtape. I’m ab to sleep so the last song being all good night is super cute. 8.5/10

are you kidding me. milk and cereal was ASS. for starters im not strongly oppionated ab this but I feel like cereal and milk is the more generally accepted order, but like are you kidding me I could not take this seriously after that song. I listened to half of this then a John Denver album and the second half of this which was really not exciting to me.

I think this could be good for passive listening as background music. Unfortunately I don’t have much going on in my life rn so it’s hard to have something be the background when there’s no foreground. I think the album overall has a nice sound and good vibes, but wasn’t extremely compelling to me. Its hard for me to evaluate how I’d feel ab something as passive music bc imo “good” background music is something that you can listen to while doing something else but like I’m constantly thinking wow that’s song is so good. I felt that way ab the Getz/gilberto album. I don’t know that it’s what I would just have playing when I’m on a walk/drive but any activity of substance and that is just the most gorgeous noise to live life to. Also imo very few songs have any business being longer than 5 minutes and the Medusa song def was longer than i wanted it to be. Basically i like the energy but idk how to rate this. 6/10

Yellow submarine is nostalgic, a bunch of the other songs r just good. The ones w Indian influence kinda threw me off. I have one song(Heart is a Drum) by beck in my liked songs which is more of a connection than what I usually have to these albums. That song is a different vibe from this album tho. Also since looking at the albums that have been taken out of the book I’m very judgmental of any post 2000 album. I don’t like the lo fi rap thing he’s got going on but everything other than that I enjoyed. Rating based on what’s good rather than what’s not like a 7/10

I was listening to this just like out loud on my phone speaker making breakfast and the album was fine but I put my headphones in to walk to work and then it sounded really good. Idk if the songs at the end were better or if I just needed to not be hearing ambient noise. I really like End of the Night. Overall p good. 8/10 + .5 for end of the night so 8.5/10

Pretty good nothing crazy

I don’t know why on earth I gave Blue a 5. I want to love Joni Mitchell but I just don’t. This album was good enough and I enjoy the energy but I think it’s much better as an album than as individual songs. As in I’d prolly skip most of the songs if they popped up on a playlist. Something ab the way her songs flow just don’t do it for me. 7/10

I’ve been off the album train for the past week ish and this got me back on. A few songs from this album have been in my recent rotation so I was excited to listen to the album in its entirety and it did not disappoint. Was really great to sit outside and work to.

if all the songs were just like the first minute or two of the songs I'd prolly rate this like a 4 or 5 but by the time it got to the halfway point I was bored of listening to the same drum instrumental thing for two more minutes straight.

Pink Floyd is one of those bands/artists that makes me Super happy I'm doing this 1001 thing. Obviously I know who Pink Floyd are but I never really listened to them before. I wanted to give this a 5 but the long instrumentals were a bit much for me -- they sounded amazing but I think some of their more songy songs are more up my alley. Still really great 8/10

I had one song from this album liked before listening to this. I think I like the smashing pumpkins. It's always fun to get albums I think I'll enjoy but haven't listened to yet. I didn't listen to the deluxe version thats like 3 hours but maybe I should at some point. I kinda love the balance they strike between a few chill/mellow moments and mostly upbeat vibe because I think I enjoy depressing music a lot but then ill be a week into my sufjan/elliot/adrienne eras and just a bit more weepy than id like to be so like I need to incorporate more of this energy into my life bc I really liked this. TLDR; fire.

There were like 2 songs I didn't like but other than that none of the individual songs were that bad. Feel like there was an energy shift midway through the album. Couldve been better if it was split into 2 but as a whole it wore on me.

I used to be a hater of long songs just in general and I think ive evolved, and ik none of these songs are even that long but they are all consistently around 4-5 min which I think is a little lengthy for the avg/standard. I feel like anything lengthy you gotta do something spicy to warrant the time. Also I feel like a bit of variety in song length in an album is wayy good for keeping me engaged and this didn't do that. Anyways other than that I think this is quite good and I enjoyed it.

This is actually so fun. I swear I remember blitzkrieg bop being in the soundtrack for either she's the man or bend it like Beckham but I looked it up and its not. Its definitely in some movie. It's just the perfect music for a kinda shitty romcom but actually it's not shitty bc why am I so invested and giggling out loud.

Some of this was quite nice . Some was too chill. Feel like the name spiritualized kinda irks me like they think they r on some woke shit but actually just bc you mediate doesn’t mean ur better than everyone.

idk if this is normal, and I guess I dont read much anymore, but I am reading and I listened to this while reading... kinda tuned this out and I think that thats bc of the album and not bc im reading bc the next album started and im def noticing that more.

I liked some parts more than others but the stuff I liked was super fun and the stuff I didn’t like wasn’t even bad just felt a bit bland. Overall v fun

I thought most of this was pretty boring but the guitar stuff on the second to last song is pretty cool. I never really played instruments growing up so I dont really appreciate the talent that goes into these albums. Im keeping Alexa’s electric guitar while she’s doing her semester in Switzerland. I tried to learn a few chords and they hurt my hand to do and I wasn’t even playing alot. And idk switching chords just seems impossible to me. it’s just so impressive to me when ppl can just play an instrument good like the playing on the albums we hear is just insane. Makes me realize there’s so much more that goes into this music than just some guy who can kinda sing sometimes. That said this album was meh except for that song, feel like these comments are more fitting for a diff album but I’m thinking about it now so I’m writing ab it now.

Really good. im very glad I listened to this w/ headphones and not in the car or w/ shitty headphones or on a bad speaker bc I think the sound quality added a lot. I haven't really listened to any Radiohead albums outside of the ones we've gotten so far on this list, and I listened to the bends in the car w/ my mom and didn't really appreciate it fully and I just listen to songs off their other albums as I encounter them but I might just need to binge listen their entire discography bc I fuck with this HEAVY

There’s some pixies songs I really like. Like I listen to them a lot. And idk why I didn’t rate the other albums higher bc I feel like they have a lot of songs I listen to. On this one where’s my mind is the only one I knew beforehand. For some reason the other albums didn’t really hit as albums for me. this did, but maybe bc I was more conscious about my mind inner workings. Also we got lots of albums that have naked boobs on the album cover kindve in a short time frame lol

This guy I liked in middle school was a big U2 fan so 8th grade me listened to the Joshua tree and was like 😱😱 wow I love UK rock but actually in my heart I liked silly little American emo bands. Now I actually love UK rock & rock adjacent I but don’t listen to a ton of U2. Anyways this was decent.

Some of this was a bit shit but some of it was super fun. Also rating this in Frankfurt(just the airport so idek if you can count it) and autobahn is the highways system in Germany and I think that’s a fun coincidence.

There’s a few songs I didn’t like and a few I did like. Ur welcome for the most groundbreaking review of an album ever.
