Reviews (page 14 of 14)
I mean, it’s fine I guess. A couple good songs, a couple of misses. Feels sparse and overproduced.
Started well but the slushy songs were annoying. Also didn't enjoy the sax. Was excited for this one but found it disappointing.
2/5 - I didn’t need to hear this. I have no nostalgia for it, and never liked Shout or Head Over Heels on the radio. I do love EWTRTW, but that’s a really easy one to like. I know this album gets a lot of love, but it’s not for me.
It wasn’t that great only really liked head over heels
Absolutely love “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” & “Head Over Heels” the rest of the album not so much.
Lite för 80-tal för mig. Everybody wants to rule the world är en banger så klart
I tried. Just not for me
Not particularly good. Drums are too dramatic, songs don't hold up.
2 - Pretty iconic 80s, but only like 1-2 songs
Even if Shout is a classical, it's not my musical preference. However I can see the appeal and why it is on the list. The sound is great.
Mothers Talk var ganske bra. Ellers er Shout og EWTRTW låter jeg har hørt tusen ganger før, som fortsatt fenger til en viss grad. Denne gjengen er så utrolig 80-talls.
Meh. IMO new wave is at its best in like a wedding dance party setting and there's not really anything on here that really goes.
I’ve written before that the 80s feels more dated and of a time than any other musical period and therefore feel old and over. Give it a miss
A couple of classics, but soft new wave is not for me.
A definite 80s vibe
lowkey ass (i usually wouldn’t listen to this type of music but maybe i need to give it another try)
Two iconic songs do not a great album make.
Did nothing for me. Not sure what else to say.
I was hoping to like this, but outside of the couple of hits. It's awful
Pretty boring. The songs were too long, with too much time for uninteresting instrumentals. Even the two famous songs from the album (Shout and Everybody wants to Rule the World) don’t have quite enough spice for me.
I'm telling you, through this list, I'm discovering how little I like the New Wave movement from the 80's. And I don't want to sound as I'm saying that this particular genre is bad, because there's undoubtedly talent in some of the groups, and Tears for Fears is a great example, as there is a lot of work put on the way they sing, play and production. Is just that, for me, this style and genre are so uninteresting, specially the ballads from this time. They sound so over-dramatic for me. I do also dislike a lot the sound of synths and over-produced drums from this period, and this album does also suffer a bit from these traits, even though everything else sounds very good. I can't say I enjoyed this, but at least I can say that I don't hate it.
Not a huge fan of this beyond the two songs I know
A while ago we reviewed The The’s messy album Infected, released a year after this album. It’s like The The guy swallowed this Tears for Fears album and its ilk and spit out a diseased version of the new wave mainstream. This Tears for Fears record must have been everywhere at the time. Actually, it’s still everywhere. I can’t go to Shoppers Drug Mart without hearing one of their songs. I wonder if I would have hated them at the time. Were they the Imagine Dragons of their time? There are some huge hits on this album. It’s certainly the sound of the 80s. But aside from a few highlights, this just isn’t it for me. They are very earnest and really reach for the rafters. It’s a lot. There are better new wave and synth pop bands. As it is, I can appreciate them for the 80s camp factor. Of note: Shout - I can, ahem, do without it. The Working Hour - It wasn’t a single, but this pops up on Lauren Laverne’s playlist from time to time. They were not shy with the sax on this one. The cheese is strong but I kind of love this moody, cinematic song. Everybody Wants to Rule the World - 80s in widescreen. I always feel like I’m in a movie when this comes on. A classic. I just watched the music video. The singer has a criminal rat tail/ponytail hybrid situation. Can’t unsee. They really were a dorky looking band. Mothers Talk - what even is this? A lot of clatter, it’s not catchy, it’s just corny and weird. Ok, I just read on Wikipedia this was their failed attempt at a Talking Heads song. That’s pretty funny and maybe explains it. Head Over Heels - YouTube Shorts keeps pushing this song on me, and I have to admit they got me. I didn’t even know this was by them until recently. It’s not as good as Everybody Wants to Rule the World, but I like it.
i dont have a boner for the 80s like everyone else seems to have so idk im not very interested on track 4 it feels like its been 40 minutes because every song is fucking 7 minutes
Capable musicians but I could not stand this.
Not what i expected, OK.
A few bops! Alright. Sample worthy, but wouldn't go through the entire thing again.
Always thought the song went “everybody wants to move along”. Moving along, Shout was very shouty. The lead has an incredible voice, but I’m not a ballad girlie.
No lo conozco, aunque al grupo sí. De momento, la portada es lo más horroroso del mundo. Parecen los Simon and Garfunkel julays. Si le meten un poco más de reverb a algo, lo pueden grabar en una catedral. No sé cómo son las canciones, supongo que tienen cosas musicalmente interesantes, pero el estilo es insoportable y nada suena de verdad. La voz tampoco ayuda.
Shout is… amazing. It’s a shame Rule the World is so awful they end up balancing each other out. Rest of the tracks are ok.
80s synth pop records are the things I can do without. I am willing to concede that Everybody Wants To Rule The World is a tune though, so I'm just about willing to award a second star.
This is the first real dud I've gotten from this list. It's very 80s and not in a good way. Really, the album is just saved by Head Over Heels. Without that track, I can't really think why anybody would consider this even a very good album, much less one of the greatest. I've always found Shout to be a really annoying pop song. The Working Hour is ok, but it really just reminds me of a worse version of the Cure. Everybody Wants to Rule the World is an ok pop song, but very cheesy. Even Head Over Heels, which I said was the saving grace of the album, is still pretty meh. Worst thing about this album is how LONG all the tracks are! Everything is at least five minutes!
Like most I know the hits. The rest is synthy gated drums cliche 80s. So many bands from this era sound the same, I just don’t get the appeal
Not really what I would usually go for , but there were a couple of songs on the album that were the right vibe for a summers day.
Ein, zwei Hits. Der Rest typisch 80er.
That's a boring way to play music.
Few good ones but overall meh
It seems to me that they’re one of the few bands from the ‘80s synth-pop wave to have had a lasting influence. Some of their tracks are brilliant, but the second half of the album is rather forgettable. Overall, they bring a semblance of soul to a decade I find pretty dull musically, but this album is a bit too inconsistent for me.
I used to have shout playing repeatedly in my head when I was in grade 2. Brings me right back there. I approached this ready to hate it but actually a bit better than I expected and such a quintessential 80s sound.
One of the more successful mergings of 80s pop and 80s underground rock. Thought a bit about whether to go up or down. I do not like 80s pop at all so don't want to listen to this again & that'll be the decider there. music: hated. (⌐■_■)
It’s good, I especially like the hits, but I feel unlikely to ever go back to it. A true 2.5, rounded down arbitrarily.
Meh, pop, peak pop. Couple of fun 80's classics, but the title track is I Believe Buzz's Girlfriend, whoof.
They have 3 good songs
Two hours later and I can’t remember a single song.
Man, I don't care for this. I get why it was popular, but I find it silly. It's very 80s, but not in the fun new wave way that I like. Too poppy/cheesy.
overrated. hate it.
Shout Everybody Wants to Rule the World Head Over Heels
Once a one hit wonder, Now an entry blunder 2 shouts you can do without out of 5
“Shout” c’est un peu trop rabâché comme chanson. Ca enchaine avec un solo de saxo comme on n’en fait plus et comme on n’aurait jamais du en faire. “Everybody wants to rule the world” fonctionne toujours, le petit air de “Listen” pourrait être sympa, mais pas répété en boucle pendant 7 minutes. Le reste est assez ringard et bof bof.
Clean, lightweight well-produced pop.
1.8 I had a tough time getting through this. On a few songs, the instrumental layering didn't really go together and it felt disjointed.
Do people need to hear an album that has some over the most average and over played singles from the '80s? Maybe. Do I? No. I heard it enough in the '80s and following decades.
Not my album. Surprised at how many songs I already knew. Favorite song is Everybody Wants to Rule the World. Lots of saxophone.
There were a couple of decent songs buy otherwise not so good. 2.5
Dwa hity, a potem smetna nuda, saksofonik w sluzbie windy. Ziew.
Not my speed at all 2/5
shout - sick beat good opener 5/10 the working hour - instrumentals go crazy 4/10 everybody wants to rule the world - good song 4/10 mothers talk - best song of the album 7/10 i believe - i really do believe 6/10 broken - alright 5/10 head over heals - ughh so good 8/10 listen - um 3/10
Everybody Wants to Rule the World is one of "those" songs, that I have always heard and never known / bothered to learn the origin of. I am sure this album was impactful, but I don't like it much. Another very 80s album.
Couple hits, most is poop
Acceptable hits. Not my scene unless I’m watching an 80s movie.
Listening to the opening track, it seems that it would be hard to record something that smells more of the 80s than that. The production, the drums sound, the eerie guitars, the clichés synth lines, the additional saxophone because why not... Some songs, with less artifice, could actually be enjoyable post-punk tracks! I get why this appears in this list, it's highly representative of a given time in history, and it's not intrinsically bad, but as dad rock from the 70s needed punk, this kind of pop from the 80s needed grunge to get some fresh air.
First of the bunch (meaning, my 1001 albums listen through). I'm familiar with the band, even like some of their tracks, such as Shout. I got an overdose of them in the 80's, when Sky Trax and Music Television we're a thing. The album is the very essence of 80's pop, to my surprise it doesn't feel too dated today, it did feel very much so in the 90's. For me it was a boring album for the most part, the artsy slow bits especially. Some of the light jazzy bits were fine as well, basically I liked the tracks with big beats and groove, disliked the soft moody songs with too much empty space in them.
They have got a couple of good songs On here ( Shout and everybody wants to rule the world). Even though Shout is a good song it does go on for a bit too long. The second side of this album drags it down massively. Also my favorite tears for fears song isn't on here which hasn't helped it.
A couple of decent songs and the rest is crappy 80s pop.
Megahitin ulkopuolella laimeaksi jäävä kasaripoppislevy. 2/5
Not a fan.
I actually don't like Shout, never have, and that's the best track on the album. Why are the songs so long? They don't need to be! The Working Hour slightly reminds me of U2, which is a horrible band. The bass line on the start of Broken is awesome, the song is not. Well, not an album for me.
This continues to be a genre that I simply do not care for. 2.0
2,5
Oh no. OK. Fair shot........ I find this awful. Not grating, but not yo my liking.
En oikein tykännyt. Mahtipontista, mutta tylsää. Kasarisoundia pahimmillaan, peukalobassottelua, chorus-efektejä, läiskivät rummut ja ohuet syntikat.
Wow this has an unusually high rating and "Everybody wants to rule the world" is the most mid song ever. Surely their less popular songs are better, right? No
A couple of good pop singles, but a lot of the rest sounded like daytime tv themes (The Working Hour, for example). Def not their best album and the production sounds very dated.
I really do not like this. I remember back in the mid 80s when the record companies and radio stations were demanding my devotion and assimilation to it by playing it every 5 minutes. I gave it the old college try this morning and ran it in its entirety. No minds changed here.
Peak 80s and not in a good way
There were some big hits for them on this album, but I never really bought into the sound.
The singles are good but the rest is forgettable.
Couple of good tunes but otherwise meh.
Nah, not for me, too poppy
More hot garbage from British New Wave / Synth Pop bullshit. I truly despise this sound. No denying though - Everybody Wants to Rule the World is a 10/10 song. Shout is actually pretty great as well. Head Over Heels is okay. The other 5 songs? bullshit
Quite forgettable, to the point that I actually forgot I was listening to it. Most songs are quite repetitive, even if their groove is nice. No emotional impact. It's not something I've actively disliked listening to, which means it's not a 1, but I'm not giving more than a 2 to anything that has left no impact on me whatsoever.
A couple of catchy enough songs, but otherwise cheesy 80s fluff.
I just don't get this genre at all. I don't like the tones of the instruments, the overall sound, the singing...it's just not for me, I guess. 2/5
..(.
My wife knew all the words to one of these songs, which left me stunned, given how much I controlled the music in the 80’s. Makes me wonder what else she was up to 35+ years ago. Did I make a mistake? Maybe she’s not the right gal for me! Shit!
Eh
A star each for the only two good songs on the record. The rest was typical 80s production cheese.
Meh. Couple familiar tunes, though.
Couple good songs but meh the rest
Slow 80’s ballads. Pretty good still
Songs From the Big Chair Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, Tears for Fears. They have always been pretty interchangeable. Rightly or wrongly thye live in the same big echoey 80s drum pop rock bucket in my mind - I sometimes have to stop and think which band sang Don’t You Forget About Me, Shout, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Alive & Kicking and Seeds of Love. Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World are rightly ubiquitous, they are both well crafted ‘big’ sounding 80s classics. EWTRTW in particular is great and still sounds good. The Working Hour also sounds big and 80s but not in a good way. That AO jazzy sax does not sound good and melodically it feels very strained. Mother’s Talk I wasn’t keen on either, the slightly frantic and slightly jazzy synth in combination with the brass and guitar isn’t a particularly pleasant sound. I Believe feels like a second rate Style Council knock off. I can imagine Sade rejecting this for being too insipid and dull. Broken perks things up a bit, a bit of drive to it and no overt jazziness, segueing nicely in Head over Heels, which is another bit of classic 80s pop rock. Listen is ok, some of the backing vocals, synth and guitar elements as it builds are quite nice but there’s more of that dull jazziness to it, giving a slight sense of inertia. Generally I’m a fan of a lot of these types of 80s bands, songs and sounds but aside from Shout, EWTRTW and Head over Heels I didn’t find this very enjoyable at all. There’s too much insipid jazz to it and I struggled with a lot of the melodies too. Maybe Don’t You Forget About Me is actually their best song. ⭐️⭐️
i'm talking to you. come on.
This album was super mid for me. I don't love their general sound, but I do like a few of the big name songs like 'Everybody Wants to Rule The World' and 'Head Over Heels'. I'm trying to be use more of the scoring range, so it's going to be a 2/5 from me. I was waiting for the album to end the entire time, and wouldn't listen to it again. The hits didn't redeem it for me. Maybe I just don't like the 80s? It felt like Phil Collins / Genesis but less enjoyable? Is that crazy to say? 4/10
meh
Lässähti vahvan alun jälkeen.
There was alot of good stuff from this era of the 80s. This was not one of them. Nothing really stood out for me
Oei, deze oude country is niet voor mij hoor
The singles off the album were ok, other tracks a bit pants. One was called Listen - wish I hadn’t
80s suck
Good music. 80's sound.
Wave, synthies, pop, 80s, mid, male, delay, sax, like the length of the songs and the way they can evolve, not bad arranged, not annoying or bad, but too poppy and not catchy enough, also don't like the hits
Was not in the mood for this album when I listened to it. Found it a bit boring overall.
The hits are great but other than that this album is pretty forgettable.
Not a huge new wave listener but Listen was an interesting track
It was ok I suppose. May have felt different at the time?
Klassiker. Intet mindre
Die zwei bekannten Lieder sind toll der Rest nicht so.
Ach was waren das für Zeiten als die Frisuren noch geföhnt wurden. Und aus der Musik alles herausgeholt wurde was der Synthi hergab. Trotzdem etwas verstaubt.
Not for me
the 80's called and it wants its shit music back Everybody Rules The World can stay, and the rest can piss off. Nice mullets.
„Shout“ ist ganz nett, der Rest arg alt
Quintessential 80's album. Not a fan of the 80's style. So 2 stars.
“Shout” is great, and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” is solid, but most of the rest of this album gets boring quickly. Many songs seemed to drag on to the point that this felt like an hour + rather than sub-45 minutes.
Other than the big singles from this I wasn’t impressed.
I know most of the songs from this album are considered timeless classics, but I just couldn't get into it.
Boring except “Shout”
A few of these songs are really great and a few of them are so incredibly forgettable.
Too old for me. Did not age well
"Shout, shout, let it all out" sounds like my last trip to the bathroom. I never liked that song. The Working Hour felt like it took an hour to get going and another hour to end. Everybody Rules The World is decent but it is played out because it's been so overplayed. (Head Over Heels, the same) Mother's Talk goes in one ear and out the other. I Believe just sounded whiney and I quickly didn't care what they believed. You're getting the drift. This is more like "Songs From The Porcelain Chair". Definitely a dated sound that screams 80's and much too self-indulgent and self-serious in places. There's not much here that I'd ever want to hear again. This album is a high 1 but I'm feeling generous today and awarding it a low 2.
Far, far too much 80s. Not my sound at all. Will give it a 2 because EWTRTW is okay.
It was good but I wouldn’t likely listen again
mid
Not for me
didn't age very well
25% 80s jams (Shout, Everyvody Wants to Rule the World), 75% 80s sax and hollow drums.
I try I bloody try but in between the pretty acceptable first and third albums this is an album I disliked from the start and with every listen nothing changes. Why rave had to happen.
Meh…two good songs out of the whole album
Not my favorite
Recognised a few of the songs (have been covered or sampled in modern music), didn't love any of them.
2/5. This album was almost too “80s” for me. The obvious best song, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, is clearly the star in this lineup. The only reason this record was able to eek out a 2 star rating.
Just okay
ehkä 2015 meikäräinen olisi tykännyt tästä mutta 8 vuotta siitä on vierähtänyt ja kuulostaa täydeltä paskalta. mikä on minussa vikana. joka ikinen sekunti tästä on sekunti tuhlattu, jokainen sointu kirskuu korvissa. mitä liikkuu päässäni... no annetaan respektfullia kakkosta pesään, hyvä että porukka tykkää. everybody wants to rule the world
É preciso aceitar como um marco do pop dos anos 80. Sequencia de hits da fm.
Meh. Two memorable songs
Someone gave a bunch of kids some gadgets and told them to play all of them at the same time.
Probably the best of that sort of thing! Couple of ok tunes the rest rather bland synth pop but it wasnt annoying.
Thought I remembered this and was looking forward to it. Turns out that apart from Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World (which are great) it was all a bit of a disappointment
Everbody knows Shout and Everybody wants to rule the world. Never heard the whole record before tho. The rest of the record youldn't quite keep up, some of the songs were a tad too long.
1. 3/5 2. 2.5/5 3. 4.5/5 4. 1.5/5 5. 1/5 6. 3/5 7. 3/5 8. 1.5/5 =2,5 Album ima samo 8 pjesama s obzirom da su 6. i 7. zapravo jedna pjesma i 3 pjesme su bas shit ---> 2
Too much sheen and ‘80s synth schmaltz outweighs a few really excellent songs.
haha detta känns som mamma-musik. får lite ångest av sån här 80tals-rock, men det svänger ändå lite! hade fått 2.6 men får en 2a här
Recognized shout and everybody want to rule the world. Interesting mix of atmospheric/spacey with pop and a bit of rock, but generally a bit slow
Never listened to a tears for fears album before. I know their hits and I'm generally not a fan so wasn't expecting to enjoy this. Very 80s, and not the kind that i enjoy Shout and everybody wants to rule the world don't do it for me. I can leave the rest of the album too. However, I think head over heels is a great track. By far the best thing about this album. Head over heels aside, I won't be going back
80s isn't my thing.
boring
Shout sucks lol Listen is pretty good tho
The two classic songs Shout and Everybody Wants to rule the world are classics for a reason, they are just good songs catchy and synthy and have this dreamy feel. But I have heard them too much and am tired of them, do not like hearing them again. The other songs are strange and slow and have the same dreamy nature like it is a bit hazy and far away in a memory, but they lack some of the punch that especially Shout has. They pull down the album from teh already meh point of the two songs I am familiar with.
"Shout" is great, but that's it really.
Historically not a huge Tears for Fears fan. I did enjoy tracks like Head Over Heels. The bassline is satisfying and I wish it was more forward in the mix. Favorite track: Head Over Heels Least favorite: The Working Hour
Solid first half with typical 80s style but went a bit overboard and Avantgarde in the second half.
“Shout,” “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” and “Head Over Heels” seem to hold up really well? But past that, it’s all 80s cringe to match the cover photo, complete with the usual attempts to ruin the saxophone as an instrument.
I haven’t started listening to the album yet, and I have to say these dudes’ hair is amazingly horrible. It was apropos to the time and genre, which makes me fearful for what is coming. Let’s hear what happens… Shout consists of the chorus repeated repeatedly and not much else. The Working Hour is laden with extra cheesy 80s saxophone shit. Not a good start. Everybody Wants To Rule The World is really good. Let’s go!!! OOF, oof, and Oof! Head Over Heels pulls us out of the nose dive. Conclusion: the hair is apropos to the album, which is bad but not amazingly so.
I’m back in the game and will go through all the missed albums. This one started real good, but tailed off drastically. Shout and rule the world best tunes. 2.5/5, im rounding it down though.
3 great tracks surrounded by Roland Orzabal's massive ego.
Other than the 3 80’s bangers, the rest of the album just sounds like trash. Particularly, none of it flows well together and it veers between awesome to mediocre very quickly.
Only enjoyed a couple songs, but the hits are great.
Muy ochentero. Alguna canción buena. El resto lo considero pop un tanto simplón
I don't feel anything.
Really not for me. Some iconic songs and certainly captured the sound of a period in time, but the songs don't do much for me and the focals feel forced.
pretty good in spots
The first song transported me right back to the 80's and I loved it. However I didn't know the majority of the album apart from the hits, and I cant say I would go back to it again.
This is an album with a couple of genuinely great tracks on it, unfortunately these are few and far between, tucked between the very wankiest of 80s ballads and sad white boy dirges. Donnie Darko did Tears For Fears an absolutely solid favour by using Head Over Heels in one of the most memorable scenes of the past 30 years. Without it, would we still be considering this album? I most certainly would not.
The hits are huge, but what else can be said?
80s memories
Vähän jopa puuduttavaa synapoppia
Liked this better than I remembered from 30 years ago or whenever Becky had the CD. Everybody Wants to Rule the World and Head Over Heels are fine. But nothing that grabs me. Somewhere between 2 and 2.5 stars
We’ll produced, good pop singles but nothing exciting
this album is another new wave album that i didn't quite care for as part of this project. i initially considered myself a fan of new wave, but i must be picky with that genre, more than i realized. tears for fears' sound isn't bad, and they can indeed make music--but this album was underwhelming to me. a point in their favor is that it was an easy listen. but perhaps too easy, since i found myself bored.
not my jam
I feel like this album is only on this list because it has both Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World. Otherwise, it’s just uninspired 80s pop; fun to listen to as a time capsule of what music used to be, but mostly devoid of character and innovation.
not to my liking. A few songs are familiar
Ok so a little difficult for me, I only really enjoyed the singles and popular tracks off this album, alongside the last track 'Listen' so I probably wouldn't recommend the album nor listen to it again. Just didn't really click for me.
I can see the appeal, but not for me.
This is better than most of the other synth heavy '80s bands but still just meh
Never a big fan of Tears for Fears and I particularly don't like Shout. This is a slickly produced album, but their material does not do anything for me. I just find it dull and redolent of glossy 80s production numbers that leave me cold
Some good songs here. It suffers from cheesy 80s style production choices. 2.5 🌟
Don't really have much to say. I listened all the way through, but nothing really sparked my interest. Then again, maybe I was born too late to properly appreciate 80s pop rock / synth-pop. I've always had a tough time finding music from those genres to be genuinely interesting or enjoyable; to me, the singing sounds a bit like wailing and the accompaniment makes me think of the bridge of the Enterprise.
This album shows Tears For Fears were more than a one-hit wonder, but it's also very self-indulgent and corny at times. Still, as a cohesive piece of work, it's decent.
Just found it a bit boring. Everybody Wants to Rule the World is very good but the rest was dull and all blended in together.
strange album, was going to give it a high score after first 3 songs, then found the rest almost unlistenable. Shout and Rule the world are fantastic, the rest really not so much.
Dated sound. Still appreciate a couple of there tunes
Honestly just wasnt my thing. I'm not too big on the sounds used/ I can appreciate the experimental sounds for the time though. Yeah
"Songs from the Big Chair" is the second album from the band Tears for Fears. The singles from this album are what made this album so popular and a multi platinum record. One can classify this music as new wave pop. This is one of those 'nostalgic 80's albums' that lives up the hype. This album is perfect for a brooding or emotional evening, where one just wants to shut out the world.
Pretty bad
When the album first came out, radio was inundated with so much airplay for Tears For Fears I hated this record. Overexposure on radio and music video does translate to huge record sales, but it also pisses off music fans that know there is lots of other music that should be heard. Listening now, the music does have a nostalgic effect, but I am quick to wake up and put on my turntable much better music from the period that gives me a good feeling instead of a feeling of being stuck in an era and decade that produced a lot of crap!
Einn svaka flottur hittari, annar hittari sem hefur alltaf farið aðeins í taugarnar á mér, 80s hljóðheimur og rödd sem ég fíla ekki sérstaklega. Þarf ekki að hlusta aftur.
A victim of the 80s production sound. Shit echoey drums
Not a huge fan of 80's music.. and this album didn't change that. The album had some good beats but honestly it was very forgettable to me..
Outside of the huge singles, this LP struggles to find an identity for itself. The leading tracks all have strong personalities with their defined guitar or synth hooks, but the meandering quality of the rest derail any kind of overall cohesion.
nope. annoying at times even. liked the hits in the past.
A really sophisticated pop album, but I found myself losing interest as it went on. The final track is incredibly dull
Las canciones estan larguísimas y eso no seria malo si no se sintieran larguísimas, solo son rescatables como tres rolas, sin embargo intentare seguirlo escuchando y encontrarle lo especial
Distractingly 80's. Imagine an 80's song. No, more 80's. Let's add some more synth. Even more. Amp up the rototoms. Time for a saxophone solo!
Knew some of the hits from this album, not big into ‘80s or synth, so it was meh
2 big hits, lots of meh
Not for me; couple of cracking tunes but the rest is a dirge I’m afraid. Will almost certainly never listen to again.
I enjoy the initial parts of each individual song, but I find the rest of the songs when the lyrics kick in to be totally uninteresting. I knew a few songs beforehand, but none of them are very great.
1\10
Some known tunes surrounded by dross.
Not good 2.6
Tiene cosillas buenas (sus 2 grandes hits) pero otras son insufribles
Bit meh outside of the main hits
Dreamy and ambient. Some good stuff, but not my style.
Shots
Definitely not my cup of tea... Second song sounds like the opening to every 80's family sitcom. Some classics on here (Shout, Everybody wants to rule the world), but not ones I'm particularly a fan of. Actively skipped through songs and turned the music down...
So 80's it hurts
Short albums are the way of old. A bit same samey. Some classics though. Also some ultra slow boring songs - Fro
Started out great, and I was really enjoying it, but it gets more experimental as it goes on and I eventually had to turn it off. Still some excellent tracks on here that I’m glad I found.
Bit boring really
Osim par pesama koje su mi od ranije poznate, nisam cuo novu, a da mi se svidela.
Kinda boring slow 80s pop. I sorta liked the one hit song I recognized.
Shout and everybody wants to rule the world are great and classics, the rest is a bit meh.
Ei jääny mieleen, mut kuunteli sen läpi
Hate the voice
songs from the poopy butt by tears for fears
The hits hit... hard. The Working Hour and Broken I like in the context of the album, but I just can't get into Mothers Talk, I Believe, nor Listen. I Believe and Listen so much so that it takes me out from the rest of the album.
salvo everybody wants to rule the world e butto le altre nel letto di spine
All of the worst 80s pop stereotypes in one place. Everybody Wants To Rule The World is the best thing here
Not my thing. Just not for me.
Not for me, too aggressively 80’s
Not for me
Too slow
Uninteressant!
So 80s, but too much pop and too little rock for my taste. 3/10
More like , "songs from the overflowing port-a-potty at the state fair"
Sounds good. It just sounds kinda abstract
I can tell this band worked really hard on this album…to hone in on all of the elements I dislike about 80s production and arranging and distill them into one album
Puh schwierig. Wichtiges Album aber so gar nicht meine Musik. Bin irgendwie gerade raus aus dem 80's Pop Game.
I hated this when it came out and I still hate it. Fuck these guys.
I only knew "Shout" and "Everybody wants..." from back in the days, when it was on every radio station. I wasn’t interested then so I never cared about the rest of the album. It was probably a wise decision, because I would have hated it with a passion. I’m a bit more indulgent now... I’ll admit the two main hits aged surprisingly well, something that cannot often be said of 80s pop. As for the rest... it’s still not my kind of music. I don’t hate it... but as often with 80s slow pop, it mostly leaves me utterly bored. I’d rate it a 1,5* for the two main hits, but that’s about it. I'll admit it's completely personal though, I don't really have anything bad to say about the band.
This is the 167th album I’m rating. I feel like this is going to be shit based off of the album cover. Probably another shitty British album. Adding to my Playlist - Nothing. Not Adding to my Playlist - Shout, The Working Hour, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Mothers Talk, I Believe, Broken, Head Over Heels, and Listen. Shout - This album topped the Billboard charts? Fiona Apple never did that and frankly her worst song is much better than this. The Working Hour - Damn I didn't know there was a saxophone. Not that good but still. Some great sax. Everybody Wants to Rule the Word - I didn't know this was by Tears for Fears. This song is so shit. I wish they never made it. All in all I liked 0/8 songs. Yeah this is pretty shit.
😏
I have never enjoyed this 80s sound at all.
bored
I listened to the first song and thought it was lame and realized that was supposedly their big hit so I just threw in the towel right then and there.
80s top 40 dreck. The prog element is interesting, not good though. Spiffy sweaters.
Super fucking garbage
Au secours !
could barely get through it. Lifeless
Outside of a couple decent songs (Shout, Everybody Wants to Rule the World) that we all know & tolerate this album is pretty dull, had a hard time getting through it but I did. I don't need to hear this band ever again.
I've always had negative prejudices towards this kind of 80s band. But in this list, I've listened to some albums that blew me away. So when I started this album, it was like, "Uhm... it's not that different to Violator, this will be great!". But no! This is utter crap, bland and extremely cheesy, lacking all the darkness that Depeche Mode could have. Also, the song writing is not good. If this was #1 in the billboards is for a reason: it sucks.
80s urgh
Not my kind of vocals
2 were good
it only two known songs and one that i don´t hear it but when released i heard it a lot on the radio, "everybody wants to rule the world" in the Live Aid year they released a single with a litle diference being "everybody wants to run the world"
Just a band I've never liked so it's a big 👎 from me
Dnl
It was horrendous only two good songs
Don’t think I’ve really ever heard anything but the chorus of the obvious songs. I hated it throughout!
Very slow didn't like. Old
Nope
Moode album, first song was ok but the rest was mostly boring, but now it came from a different age of pop music😀
sucks
So 80s. So bad.
Nope.
pass
Not for me
Really don't like the 80s synthesizer vibes
I ALREADY RATED THIS YOU IDIOTS
Dreadful. Felt like I was listening to the Donnie Darko soundtrack.
why is there so much 80s trash on this list?
SNORE.
Overblown nonsense
Not for me
Tedious
nonononononononono
Also dreadful. Christ - I'm getting sick of these recommendations. I gave it a try, but gave up after the 4th or 5th song, when there was too much wanky saxophone (sorry all the sax players out there.)
nope
no
I didn’t hate it. The slower songs were a bit harder to enjoy. For some reason, I got a Family Guy skit vibe from a few songs.
The epitome of 80s new wave, which isn’t usually a problem for me, but because this album was so incredibly boring I wanted to kill myself. Not even revisiting the massive hits, Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World could interest me. Tears for Fears blows
I don’t have a lot but I can try to find it if I need to get some more money 💰 for the kids to get in the house 🏠 and then we can get the kids together to go out for dinner or dinner or whatever and then I will be back in town for dinner or whatever is fine I can get you a couple things and then we have to get together and I have to get a drink or dinner or whatever so I don’t think I need a lot to get done but I’ll let it all go and then I’ll see what you guys think 🤔 and I’ll see if I get you know if I get a chance later today I hope I will get some time off tomorrow night and I love and I’ll be home tonight love and I love to you too I hope you’re having fun and I’ll see how you’re feeling good luck on the way to the hospital I hope you’re feeling good I hope you’re doing well and I’ll see if I hope you’re not feeling well I hope you’re very happy with the kids love to see your dad I hope you’re feeling good and hope you’re all set and hope you’re feeling terrible
Very 80's I could feel the hair. Over all great listening will do it again. Even recognized some of the songs so nice to know where they came from
Way better than I thought it would be. Feels dated but not in a bad way.
