Reviews (page 8 of 8)
Absolutely awful at the time and it’s not aged well.
I ALREADY RATED THIS YOU IDIOTS
Def Leppard at the time they were still trying to imitate AC/DC, and coming up short as a result. Some of the vocal lines are incredibly grating. And the guitar solos are hackneyed and trite, obviously. Bland, sterile, low-brow, unimaginative, you take your pick. As for production values, they're on their way to the synth-enhanced hair-metal cheesiness of *Hysteria* here. I gave a 1/5 grade to the latter, but it was honestly a bit tough on my part. Some of the silly tracks on it can be endearing in a tongue-in-cheek way. Which is not even really the case for *Pyromania*. For general musicianship I'll give 5 points to this album, to which I will add one point for the "professional" production values, typical of the eighties. A 6/10 grade, then. Which, obviously translates to a 1/5 mark for the quite *different* purposes of this list of "essential" albums. Next, please. Number of albums left to review: 547 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 218 Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 105 Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more essential to me): 132 (including this one)
I gave it a try, but still, No. I didn't like them back in the 80s when they were popular, so I was ready to give them a brand new shot decades later, which is one of the many things I like so much about this project. I gave it a listen, and it just doesn't do it for me.
It won't play on Spotify thankfully.
American poodle permed overproduced cock rock. Except they are from my home city of Sheffield in Yorkshire. Painfully awful. Utter shite. 1
D'un banal et d'un manque d'originalité...
PREFS : ??? MOINS PREF : Def Leppard
LOL nah, no thanks.
C H E E S S Y
Straight-up awful, even accounting for the irresistible "Photograph." Records like give rock a bad name. Embarrassing.
Junk
Def Leppard sucks
tasapaksua.. kyl se ny yks biisin maistuu muttei albumi...
This is going to very pretentious. In my eyes (probably due to my father and mother's influence), Def Leppard has always been the poser's arena rock band. This ruins any enjoyment I may get out of their albums.
Def Leppard's appeal is rapidly diminishing. They're AC/DC-light, zero sense of irony, utterly inane and puerile.
Klyschiga sångstrukturer, pop-metal utan coola pop-melodier, hemska lyrics, solisten låter som att fimpa cigaretter på min kuk och ballar... Den här skivan kändes dubbelt längre än vad den är. Inte min jam!
Only listened to a couple of the songs before turning it off. Not my cup of tea.
Cliche after cliche, power ballads and all that. Sticks like superglue to the poodle rock formula.
I honestly cannot imagine a more boring and uninteresting record from a musical and production standpoint. This is not for me, this just plain sucks.
Jezus. 3 tracks is enough.
No! Boring it is….
Rock music for people who don't like rock? Or just: fodder.
Boe!
Zo gedateerd en zo pathetisch. Stoerdoenerij door de sukkeltjes uit de klas.
Really dull
This album is like Theon Greyjoy. It looks tough, it fights tough, but it's all rock and literally no cock. Imagine a Pitbull emasculated ten years ago with molten gums for teeth, dwarfed legs, eating a steady diet of nutritious kibble. It's bark is so loud it resonates wholly within... then whimpers out as a metallic fart.
Meh - Not for me.
Lucky leppard.
That voice... haha. I dont know if I like that style of singing. This reminds me of Warrant or Kiss... 80s was a weird time for Rock. I feel like there is a lot of talking about rocking in 80s rock. Like self-referencing and writing songs just about rock. I think a lot of Disco songs are like this, talking about dancing or talking about music. A song about itself is pretty funny.
I hate Def Leppard. Always have. While there’s no denying the high quality of the production it’s really a case of putting lipstick on a pig. The music just sounds like a group that’s nowhere as good as AC/DC trying (and failing) to recreate the AC/DC sound. While AC/DC songs have similar content, they at least seem to be smacking and grinning about the lascivious jokes they make. Def Leppard either doesn’t get the joke or actually takes themselves seriously. Either way it’s shit.
To call this dad rock would be an insult to dad rock everywhere. To call this suburban mom who used to be quite wild back in the day rock would be an insult to Queen.
Seriously, of all the albums ever released, why on earth does anyone need to listen to this drivel before they die? I had the misfortune to see Def Leppard live around the time of their first album. They were crap then and this is worse.
Save yourself some trouble, just listen to the greatest hits album. All filler one killer.
dårlig og slitsomt
Got a minute in and bailed. I really don’t understand this kind of band. Repetitive and clichéd.
This was grim. It was hard work getting to the end. Metal is shit. 80's power metal doubly so.
Who listens to this garbage? Maybe I hate fun. But I feel like rock music is cheesy enough without being concentrated and fermented into this kind of super-cheese. 1.5*
Just not a fan.
not a fan
The mixdown is an incoherant mess, and the vocals are awful.
