Reviews (page 10 of 15)

Legendary sound, and the nasty side effects of the loudness wars have been ameliorated by later remasters. But lightning doesn’t always strike twice, and you can hear the wheels start to fall off here with songs that outstay their welcome, or are outright boring next to overlooked b-sides like Acquiesce. But hey, two classic albums are more than most bands could ever hope for.

The second best Oasis album, dodgy Gary Glitter references aside..

I said maaaaayyybaaaayyyyy i just love liams voice. nasally in the bestest british-ishy way. foking biblical m8. unibrows baby. also there's a few songs on this record I have very strong personal connections to. around when I was first falling in love with my boyfriend I heard him cover she's electric and I would listen to that song on repeat🥺 I lost a friendship to hard drug use and I would always listen to champagne supernova CRYING and wonder where he was. just come smoke weed with us Blondie 😭 faaave songzz - SHES. MOTHER. FUCKING. ELECTRIC., wonderwall lol so classic, hey now, champagne supernova least favez - swamp Songz, cast no shadow will I listen again :o eh fokon yarrr m8

Never an oasis fan but this is surprisingly good throughout with a few stand out tracks. Shame sibling rivalry caused it to end as the sum of the parts is definitely (maybe) greater than the individual components.

Anthemic bar songs. Great for what it is.

A good album. I only know the hits.

AJ: one of my favorite albums ever. 6th or 7th grade AJ wore this fucker out. Really no weak tracks. Just pure Brit pop rock goodness. Wish they weren’t such assholes to each other.

I was never an Oasis fan, so I was surprised by how much I liked this album. I liked the less popular tracks more than the popular ones (probably because as with many of the 90s rock albums on this list, the hits on this album were horribly overplayed on the radio in the nineties). I can now hear these guys as the cool Brit pop/rock influence that they were. Still not my favorite, but a legitimately enjoyable and cohesive album. 4/5 for pleasantly surprising me.

Some awesome songs, but a whiney singer

Immortal Britpop glory for the morning, noon, and night.

I can see why this album was so popular in the mid-1990s when it was released, it was the perfect sound of the mood and the atmosphere of the time and it spoke to a generation of young people. Though some songs are a bit too samey to me it is overall a very good record with many great hits on it (the biggest one, obviously, Wonderwall). Champagne Supernova is a great closing track.

Liked a lot

Fantastic, probably oasis’ best

Such a great album, just a shame they haven't spoken to each other in over 15 years

I liked most of it. hello, wonderwall, don't look back in anger, champagne supernova

Lots of good stuff besides just wonder wall

Never been a huge fan but I do appreciate these songs more as I listen to them again and again through the years. Liam's voice in itself is a magnificent instrument. I bought this album in high school and was disappointed with it, and I'm not fully into this as a whole album, but I do find some tracks really amazing on their own - in particular "Wonderwall" (even despite having heard it hundreds of times), and "Champagne Supernova."

This one is a hard one to figure out how much I appreciate. Is there any song that exemplifies cliche better than wonderwall? The songs themselves are good, but its hard to not feel like a bit of a tool blasting the hit singles off the record through speakers in 2023 - it just naturally invites judgement. I think whats tough is that for people my age, these songs were already overplayed by the time we learned to read. I didn't have a chance to be wowed by their impact. To me the legacy of the album has fully overshadowed the record itself on its own merit, which is a shame!

This could be Oasis' best. They were on a roll when their second disc was released. The highs here are tremendous - Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger and Champagne Supernova are classics. The rest of the tracks are nearly as good. OK, some of the riffs pay homage to such an extent that numerous bands called their lawyers, but it doesn't lessen the impact of the songs.

Some fantastic songs mixed with songs decent songs. A enjoyed it more than their first album. 3.75/5

Seminal album by Oasis. Wonderwall. Champagne Supernova.

I really disliked Oasis back at their height - they just exuded arrogance and aggressive behaviour that jarred with me. Now - nearly 30 years after this album released and the hype has passed, I can say that this is an exceptional album of British rock music.

I already knew the album, it s a favorite of my girlfriend. Good album, but i didnt relisten now.

A lovely bit of Brit pop (again)

It's a meme now but listen Wonderwall is still a great song. So are a lot of these other songs! Against my better judgement I liked this album and was sad when it was over!

Huh, turns out the wonderwall album is pretty good

When this was released I hated the Gallagher brothers, the music really did not appeal to me, as a result I avoided the album and singles at all cost. I still hate the artists, I think they are absolute dic*s but I’ve learnt to separate the artist from the music. The singles that made the charts are better, and that reflects in their chart appearances, tue ones that didn’t just feel like album fillers. 4/5, but only because some of those chart singles weren’t as bad as I originally thought

So close to a 5. I’ve heard all these songs individually but never together. All time indie rock defining album

So anyway here’s wonderwall Really like this album. Flows along nicely without getting repetitive, hits sprinkled throughout. Overall sound has aged well too

A big favorite of mine in HS. Somehow I overlooked the nasal vocals back then, but it’s all I hear now. Wonderwall, gimme Ryan Adam’s version every day. Still a lot of emotional attachment to this record and that wins out in the end. 1 - bad 2 - average 3 - good 4 - great 5 - outstanding

Lots of great tracks here. Wonderwall is definitely overplayed but I still love Champagne Supernova and Don’t Look Back in Anger. Thankfully the album doesn’t stray too far outside of those songs, proving that a broken clock is right at least once a day. 8/10

Was Liam's voice always this whiny?

noel is a hoe

i liked this album less when being forced to listen to it but it’s still good

Never owned this album, but I know every song. Hard to rate as a thing. Good songs, personally I'm never going to put it on, but I'm going to constantly hear these songs whether I want to or not. Marginally more listenable than the first album since there's less loudness insanity and a hint more subtlety. Derivative, but fun.

Nice, Oasis halt. Viel zu lang though und deswegen viele forgettable tracks

Great album, Oasis is a classic. I did like hearing the more rock forward angsty 90's mellow drama in songs from the full album - not just waterfall or champagne supernova. The album on spotify is a deluxe version with both remastered and live recordings of the songs album. the live versions were cool b/c the band made funny jokes or were playful once the song ended as it faded out. Would recommend for a chill day of listening.

Liked this! Bought the CD.

Almost perfect pop album

I forgot how good some of these songs were. Don’t look back In anger is perfect

I'm not an Oasis fan, but this is classic.

These guys are idiots, but I have fond memories of this album and it has a lot of good tracks.

Classic!

I’ve been waiting for an excuse to listen to this one as I liked the debut a lot. Overall, this record is a total stepup from their debut, with more fleshed out concepts and songs. Loved it! 4/5.

Disco clásico de la adolescencia. Bien de fondo.

Rating: 8/10 Best songs: Hello, Wonderwall, Don’t look back in anger,

Absolutely massive fan of this album when it was first released. It has palled somewhat over the years, so just fails to get the full 5 stars.

Much better rock album than I could have anticipated. A really good lsiten.

A great album in its day. No way is it 5 stars though. 3 really but an extra star coz I remember lovin it back in the day.

A huge improvement on the previous album. I still think Blur wins their war with one band member tied behind their back, but this had some rip-roaring good songs sprinkled through it!

This is an absolute step up from the previous album, although still a hair too long.

I was never really into Oasis as a kid. I always said Blur were the more varied and interesting and maybe dismissed Oasis as a bit one-note, but I realise that's not really true. Maybe when you look at their career as a whole, but there's a lot of variation in here. Production is really good. I'm hearing a lot of bits I hadn't really heard before, with some really interesting harmonies and background tracks. The riffs are really good. The song-writing itself is super strong, and there's a lot of big, big tracks on here. The hit ratio across the whole album is massive, and this is undeniably a classic, magic album. So why am I not giving it five stars? I guess because despite all the above it still doesn't quite connect with me enough. I don't think I would ever choose to actively listen to this despite really appreciating it.

Banger, bättre än jag trodde, äkta rock, klassiker, dags å bli ett oasishuvud 4!

Oasis is one of the most revolutionary artist in music. All he has to do is walk and they follow lgx

This was a big album for me because it was one of the first CDs I got as a kid. I hadn't listened to it straight through for a while though. Maybe it's nostalgia but this album is still very solid to me. I was never a big Oasis follower aside from this album but this set of songs still hits hard. I think they're really good songwriters and get why they blew up in the mid-90s. Standout Tracks: Roll With It, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Cast No Shadow, She's Electric, Champagne Supernova.

I like the record as a whole. Handful of skippers and a handful of fairly undeniable rock classics. Maybe a 3.5 that’s growing on me, so we’ll go with a 4.

While overplayed in the day, I was surprised by the guitar work.

"Unassuming" is not a word I can use for this outing. Oasis basically mastered the form used here, and Champagne Supernova caps the album with something close to transcendent. When the sugar fades from the tongue, it's still a fine, fine project.

(What's the Story) Morning Glory? is the second studio album by English rock band Oasis, released in 1995. The album was a massive commercial success, becoming one of the best-selling albums of all time and cementing Oasis's status as one of the biggest and most influential bands of the 1990s. The album's lead single, "Wonderwall," became an international hit and has since become one of the band's most iconic and enduring songs. Other standout tracks on the album include the upbeat and catchy "Don't Look Back in Anger," the anthemic "Champagne Supernova," and the emotionally charged ballad "Cast No Shadow." Overall, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? is a solid and well-rounded album that showcases the band's songwriting and musicianship. From the upbeat, guitar-driven rock of "Wonderwall" and "Don't Look Back in Anger" to the more introspective and emotional ballads like "Champagne Supernova" and "Cast No Shadow," the album has something for every kind of rock fan. If you're a fan of Oasis or just looking for some great rock music, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? is definitely worth checking out.

solidno ne bi rekla za oasis al ipak mi je najbolja sally

Nearly 30 years old and still a cracking album. Will still be a top album in another 30 years

Guilty pleasure -levy. On todella hyvä. Kokonaisuus! Kuluneet hititkin on hyviä. Pieni nokkavuus - näennäinen yksinkertaisuus ja helposti lähestyttävyys luodaan laululla (ja aksentilla) ja sanoituksilla, mut biisit on viimeisen päälle ja kunnianhimoisesti tehty. Ärsyttää vähän, mut se on Oasiksen idea

Ok. You can definitely not count me as an Oasis fan. Firstly - was not a big fan of the Gallagher voices, then came Blur vs. Oasis and I was wholeheartedly in the former's camp. So while I had heard a few of these tracks singularly - I never sat down and listened to this album. I told myself I cannot take more than one Oasis song at a time. And I was wrong. This is truly a great album. Some of the most memorable of the 90s, and even the most overplayed ones are just simply fine pop songs with a good edge. "Don't Look Back in Anger' is pure class, so is "Champagne Supernova" - and the rest of the album is just good - not too long, well-paced and pumping throughout. A good strong record I stupidly ignored most of my life.

British Legends. Some absolutely timeless tracks on here.

Bro I went through an identity crisis with this album, because I LOVED it. There was not a single moment when I was bored or waiting for it to end. "She's Electric" was my stand out and the comment section of my "Wonderwall" tweet was popping. I was very very close to giving it a 5 because I really had no issues with it. But unlike the singular 5 I've given, or the 5s I plan to give, it didn't quite hit that sweet spot in my brain. I really did love it though. I will keep returning.

Felt like modern take on beatles

Very nostalgic, borderline 5 but some songs were very boring. Wonderwall isn’t even the best song in the album so it’s a shame people only know them for that.

I haven’t heard this album in over two decades. It’s better than I remember!

Sorry, Kimberly. Noel might be a cunt, but this is a damn good album.

Very good,

Arena rock global breakthrough for a band that was lumped into Britpop but was always more of a classic rock and roll band. These songs aren't artful, nor do they have much substance, but they tickle that part of the brain that wants to rock out. Classic 90s record. My only real complaint is in the mixing/mastery of the record as it is heavily compressed. Not sure if it's responsible for the "loudness war" or if it was a casualty, but it annoys me.

Achingly poetic lyrics and totally original song structure and arrangements... are not what you will find on this album. What you will find are the vibes that will make you believe that Cool Britannia was a real thing.

Some solid songwriting here, this album deserves it's iconic status, in 2022 these songs barely sound dated.

When this came out, I turned my nose up at it. It was not underground enough for me. It played way too much on the radio next to Live and The Offspring and I just said "no thanks." But let's not be crazy - this is good pop songwriting all up and down the road. The title track, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova. This is all very solid work. The songs themselves are pure nonsense, but the melodies, the guitar work, the bitter vocals and maybe some nostalgia all mixes together for something pretty good. This is pretty good. The only song on it that I really don't want to hear is 'Roll With It'. Then there are a couple generic boys. But other than that, pretty good.

I'm with Craiggers on this one almost to a tee. Wanted nothing to do with this band when they first blew up, but eventually gave in to the songs on this record and pretty much adore it. I would lop off the first two tracks, but from "Wonderwall" on it's basically one track after another that you just KNOW you'd sing like an idiot at the top of your lungs by yourself in your car. But if you did that in the back seat and a non-Oasis fan was driving, then you could say, "HEY. Don't look back in anger." And all would be right in the world.

Ugh…still good, but like it was when it came out.4/5

An era defining masterpiece from the band of the 90s. Just great fun from start to finish.

Superb

I wasn't a big fan of Oasis at the time but I certainly have come to appreciate them more. Fave track: She's Electric

I absolutely detested Oasis at the time, but in later years mellowed to them, in large part due to the number of their tunes that could be used to get a whole room (or field!) of people singing along at karaoke... Most of those tunes from from this album, and listening to it now, I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I reached out to give it a 5 but the specter of metalhead teenage me materialized and slapped my hand aside, sorry Gallaghers... Fave track - "Wonderwall", for its karaoke qualities...

Anyway, here’s Wonderwall.

Was expecting to hate it but It’s quite good. Pleasantly surprised

Full of incredible tunes. Just don't listen to the words unless you want to go insane. Best track: Wonderwall

When you learn to play wonderwall on guitar you completely ignore the lush orchestration and tasteful drum palette. Re-listening to wondewall with a more critical ear really deepens my appreciation for that track. On the whole, you can hear the strong influence of classic rock (don’t look back in anger is so John Lennon it borders on pastiche) The general mastering is pretty great, the clean drums and vocals punch through the heavier guitars with ease

i didnt really get the oasis-beatles-stones comparisons when the only song i knew was wonderwall, but i can totally see it now. this was a really cool album, one i know i’m going to come back to a lot. it’s not perfect, but i enjoyed it

Lots of good tunes, very classic, good listen

Nice to revisit this one. They were definitely syncing on this one.

I have a soft spot for this album. It's not insanely good, but there are worse things on this list.

Tunesome, classic. The loudness wars got to this one a little bit. Never listened to the non-singles, but almost every track could have been a single. That’s a rare thing! (Prior listen)

Britpop at its finest

Mye bra her. Treffer meg ikke 100%, men ekstremt kul sound innimellom

Still a beast of an album. Derivative, yes, some painful lyrics but it's a rock and roll album that evokes an era.

With tunes like this I'd be a cocky fuck as well.

Anyway here’s wonderwall. Somehow both cringe and satisfying. Alludes to what rock will be in the early 2000’s.

I like the album. Some of the songs sound similar to me. Didn't know that most of their popular songs were from this album.

Warm...bursts of nostalgia listening to this. I've done a 360 when it comes to oasis, really liked them then became convinced they were overrated, average and a copy of the beatles (despite never hearing 'beatles' vibes from their songs), and now I realise they're just great. Good album, introduced me to some songs of their's I haven't heard before. People, don't be ashamed of enjoying Oasis songs. They are good.

The second Oasis album I've had to review. I gave the previous a 4 and this one is better Its still not a 5 for me though. While it has absolutely smashing tracks like Don't Look Back In Anger, Champagne Supernova, Roll With It and of course Wonderwall. It has a couple duds on it also.

Wonderwall, Roll With It, Don't Look Back In Anger and Some Might Say is a four-track hit machine that guarantees four stars. For the five are the non-album tracks their equal, or are they sixes that demand a perfect score overall? No, and no. Bonehead's Bank Holiday and Hey Now are three star efforts, and Champagne Supernova outstays its welcome. So a very solid four. Possibly four and a half.

Overplayed and over familiar, but that's for a reason - so many good memories of sitting on a bus on the way to work in Leeds and talking to my mates about how great the music was. Never my favourite band, but their Beatles schtick was better than most others

Classic album. Iconic songs. Fuck Oasis

Hella bangers all around for alt fans

One star off for the Gallagher brothers being twats

My favorite Oasis album. My only real critique of them is exemplified by Cast No Shadow. Excellent lyric, gives a real deep mental image. “As he faced the sun he cast no shadow”. Perfect line. But then he has to say it 1,750 times. It loses its meaning after so many times. Sometimes it’s cooler for your cleverness to be a little more subtle.

It was nice hearing something besides wonderwall and champagne supernova. I totally get why they were a big deal and it suck’s the separated.

Great album

Already heard. One I picked up from my dad

Enda en klassiker, men debuten var bedre

Pretty nice

At some point nearly thirty years later, this album becomes almost a given for being a great album. While amazing at original release, with aspiring guitarists amusing adequately imbibed party-goers with "Wonderwall" or post-New Year celebrations anthemic-ally singing "Champagne Supernova", these are ultimately just indicators of something bigger, where the less than radio hits are worth their time in gold. "Hello" the opening track is a solid opener, heavy and seemingly laid bare, Oasis comes off as in control of their destiny. "Don't Look Back In Anger" is seemingly advice that the Gallagher Bros. should adhere to, "Some Might Say" scratches that 90s band pop/rock itch, etc., but the whole album does, in fact. Thing is, this album more than defined the 90s rock scene, it reinvigorated Britain's contribution to the genre earning it a reputation of it being able to do no wrong, that any music out of the UK was in fact, the next thing to be. While that may no longer be true, the point is for a while that it was.

This is a weird one - always has been. I'd say I've always had a love/hate thing with this but it's not quite true at all - more like a love/frustrated relationship. On the one hand, these songs are catchy AF. They can get tiring after a while because of a certain sameness (or production....see the negative below) but individually I might have to say that ... literally every single song is good? Nothing super groundbreaking but definitely above average songwriting at worst and they really do go for the killer chorus which is infectious. ... Yeah that's it: these songs are damn infectious. Favourite: "Don't Look Back in Anger" [maybe because Noel sings lead on this...?] Negatives? Liam's voice is really tough to sit through for a long spell. Seems cliché to say that at this point but doesn't make it any less-true. But the BIG negative for me is the terrible mix/production overall. No need to get technical about it - it's just TOO LOUD and everything is up front for the entire album. Everything was/is massively over-compressed into this wall of sound / cacophony and there's no subtlety whatsoever ("Some Might Say" and the almost-alltime-awesome "Morning Glory" are maybe the best (worst) examples - distorted/noisy/everything peaking. Frustrating.). Song-wise this would be (and probably is) an all-time classic but it's unfortunately tiring on the ears to listen to (in headphones esp.) which knocks it down for me. Still - it's probably most-awesome coming out of a phone speaker or on the beach or from a convertible - it's just a great rock album reeking of that 90s vibe. 8/10 4 stars.

So many memories from my uni years. My colleagues and I used to go to this indie/pop/rock bar to dance the night away. The DJ would play Don’t Look Back in Anger to finish the session of the night and to get us all out of the bar up until next Saturday. That is why I rate this album with four stars.

Oasis was a big band. His better hit was "Wonderwall".

I didn’t want to like this. Excellent album.

Ok, I'm getting all the classics now. 4

A stone cold classic that is just full of hits!

14th July 2022 Listened in the morning while working from home. Had cox and Barnett round in the evening. I’m wobbling a little due to the lad culture of oasis, but it is a classic.

Swagger can take you a long way. (They blew it by putting a lyric sheet in Be Here Now. Some people haven’t stopped laughing…)

Hello Wonderwall Hey now! Some might say Cast no shadow Morning Glory Champagne Supernova

Good album but never was a Oasis fan

Great album though a little too long. "Wonderwall" is obviously overplayed but I've always thought "Don't Look Back in Anger" was a fantastic song.

Wait, so Oasis didn't end on the Wonderwall? Oo I'm ashamed of not doing my research. This record has such a strong nostalgia vibes. A really pleasant album. Soothing in a weird way. Highlight: Champagne Supernova

Superściana przeruchana, ale jest dużo innych spoko nut (roll with it it, hello, champagne supernova), słuchając miałem wrażenie nostalgiczności. Mocne 4, może i 4,5.

Jestem pełen zrozumienia dla nienawiści do Oasis. Wkurzający wokal, z dziwnym wymawianiem głosek, proste teksty, brzmienie będące podróbką Beatlesów i amalgamatem kilku innych zespołów.

Its not as bad as I thought it was

Crazy how there are three absolute BANGERZZ from the late 90's on here! I also really dig the "Swamp Songs" as little hard rockin interludes! This is a really solid album from a very nostalgic time, and it totally holds up!

Never listened to a full album from Oasis before. Obviously like everyone I know Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, but there's some other songs here that are quite nice (like Hello).

4.5/5 that was good!

Brit-pop. 3 superhits.

This was my first listen for this album. I kept thinking that Oasis reminded me of another band...but maybe it just reminded me of them. I liked the album, and it sounded like 90s rock. I guess I am not super into the sound though, because it kind of got a little boring for me.

Ahhh The Brothers Gallagher when they sort of got on....interesting that fraternal conflict manifested itself in the the Kinks previously too where the Davies brothers couldn't get on in a band together. Noel so wants to be Macca to Liam's Lennon in this record, unfortunately they don't quite hit the mark but there are some cracking tracks here. My Favourites "Don't Look Back In Anger" "Wonderwall" (Of Course) "Roll With It" the Kinkslike "She's Electric" and "Champagne Supernova" A Very good Britpop album. Rightfully here.

An absolute classic so has to be 4*

A classic. I think if it was a tighter 8-track album it could be a five.

bem divertido

3.5 stars

Here's your classic 90's alternative album and it's a lot of fun. We have the always timeless wonderwall and champagne supernova on this one along with a few other fun ones. Not a huge fan of Oasis but glad I could finally listen to the album all the way through.

A classic in its own right. Contains the anthem of amateur guitar playing pricks worldwide, "Wonderwall." And despite the meme, it's still a great song. There's some other great ones on here too, especially "Champagne Supernova." I like this one a lot, and I think the vocals have a lot to do with it. Whichever of the brothers Gallagher is responsible for this, kudos. Favorite tracks: Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova, Some Might Say, Morning Glory. Album art: Very indistinct, we've had a handful of street scenes on this list already. But it's definitely recognizable for me. 4/5

Un classique. Définitivement le meilleur album du groupe et un gros morceau des années 90. Une chanson de cet album se retrouve impérativement dans toute playlist rock/alternative de cette décennie. Pièces préférées: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova

Overall, it's a pretty good listen. Decent music, good drive, a bit poetic at times. Not bad. I still wouldn't rush out and buy it, but I most certainly didn't hate listening to it. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would. I wouldn't call it 4 stars, but can't see giving it 3. So it gets four by default.

Possibly the best album ever made by a pair of absolute bell-ends

Oasis are a band I always shat on but I can't lie, I really enjoyed this album. Some absolute bangers.

At the time I really liked this album and listened to it many times, but nowadays prefer their debut album. WSMG is still an excellent album of course that is way better than any of their later albums and I would still rate it as 4 stars. It is a pity that some of their strongest songs around that time are not included, for example: Talk Tonight and Acquiesce, b-sides of Some Might Say. (It's remarkable, at the time Oasis could - if they had wanted to- have easily released a WSMG Part 2 and it would have been just as strong as WSMG.)

Great L.P. This is the one that put me on the Oasis bandwagon

So anyway, here's Wonderwall. Not sure they were ever going to be the next Beatles, but pretty good.

4. not as raw as def maybe - not quite as indulgent as be here now! ha. what a fuckin time though!

Imagine liking Blur more than this ;)! It's not the best Oasis album, but I'd be lying if this didn't have a big impact on me growing up!

A lot better than I'd expected. Was every song off this a single? Felt like it!!

I have, (like everybody alive), heard Wonderwall way too many times in my life. Went in really wanting to smugly hate this album so I could be vindicated but Oasis are, unfortunately, actually quite good at making music. There's a couple of somewhat 'meh' tracks but at least half the album could have been singles. The album as a whole also feels shorter than it is which I think is a good thing - better to leave the listener wanting more than leave them wanting it over.

Epic 90’s indie. Although a bit dated, there are no weak songs here.. Wonderwall has kept its magic, but in retrospective songs like the title track, and Champagne Super perhaps even better

Solid album.

7/10 Not as fresh as when first released. Lots of classics which still get the foot tapping but suffer from being overplayed on the air.

One of the best albums of the decade. Packed with great songs, this album is a pleasure from start to finish. Standouts: Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Roll with It, Morning Glory. Others: all the rest! A very strong 4/5. (Note: I don't give 5's to just a TRULY great album that has survived the test of time. )

I didn't necessarily like all of the tracks on this one, but I did enjoy it overall. Don't Look Back In Anger is my favourite, it never fails to make me emotional.

Lots of great songs in here. 4.5

I said maaaybaaaaay!

The biggest problem with "(What's the Story) Morning Glory" is that I filled my quota for "Wonderwall" years ago. Every subsequent time I listen to that song now overflows the container that I reserve for music that tries to deftly navigate the demilitarized zone between the Fab Four and Brit Shit. Speaking of the Fab Four, "Don't Look Back in Anger" is both the most Beatles-esque and best song on the album, and boy did the world want Oasis to be the second coming of the lads from Liverpool. Which is a totally unfair and unreachable expectation to place on any band, let alone a band that featured two brothers that hated each other too much to get anywhere near the prolific success of the Beatles early years. That said, you don't have to be the Beatles to make a good record. And this is pretty good. Except for "Wonderwall."

First of all, the beginning of the song Morning Glory sounds like The One I Love by REM. How did I never notice that before? Secondly, how did his voice not annoy me in the 90s? Don't get me wrong, I still like some of these songs. Hello is underrated and is an excellent start to an album. Roll With It sounds like they want to be the Beatles while Don't Look Back in Anger actually sounds like it could be the Beatles. And of course there is the aforementioned influence of REM. It was a nice walk down memory lane, even if it's one I am not likely to repeat any time soon.

Iconic cover, iconic bangers. Wonder wall to wonder wall hits here. Probably their finest work

great britpop album

Don't Look Back in Anger > Wonderwall. That's my hot take for today.

It is a classic.

a few repetitive sounds but overall one of my fav albums

Es wena esta wea, antes de que oasis se pusiera zzzzzz

The best of this album IMO: - Hello - Roll With It - The Swamp Song - Excerpt 1 - She's Electric - Morning Glory Great tunes. Gotta love British rock and Britpop. Oasis truly has a unique sound, they're recognizable. (But I don't like Wonderwall lol. Mostly because of the hook though.) I still prefer Blur. ;-) 3.5/5

I don't understand the Brit Pop Wars. Or at least, I don't understand the whole Blur vs. Oasis fight, almost like it's supposed to be a Beatles vs. The Stones or Nirvana vs. Pearl Jam sort of battle. To my ears, this is more like generic vs. brand name, with Blur being generic throwing stones and insisting they're the same, if not better, than the "brand name" Oasis. It's the nail vs. the hammer. There's no comparison. Oasis is better, there isn't even an argument. Wonderwall is an all-timer (yes, Wonderwall itself is a stone cold 5). There are a shitload of bangers here. Some were so over played in 1995 and 1996 to the point of annoyance, so I tended to avoid the Gallagher Brothers in their heyday. My bad. Not every track has the, ahem, wonder of Wonderwall, but this one is aging nicely overall.

Oasis at the pinnacle of their creative success. It plays like a greatest hits and it's good. It's enjoyable music. Not my favourite, but damned if I won't sing along to Wonderwall every single time it comes on. Have to.

I think I mentioned this before, we watched a Britpop documentary a while back, it was quite interesting to hear more about Oasis. I only really knew this album. Still, the Beatles influence is overwhelming. It’s too bad the Gallagher brothers hate each other so. I would have liked to have heard their sound evolve. I think what they had was something that cannot be easily duplicated, and between brothers like that? Impossible. But Oasis sure gave it a try. I like this album a good deal, but I never get a chance to listen to the whole thing. It feels very slick, but we’ll-produced (that’s the 90s for you.) Really recommended.

Hard to rate this one and separate it from my childhood. Not as good as Definitely Maybe which I gave a 4, but should really have been a 5.

Gut zum im Hintergrund laufen lassen, 2-3 allgemein bekannte Lieder, Rest auch ganz gut.

Obviously a classic. Definitely some great all time songs, but let’s take a star away for all the familial egotism.

Super good album. Unique sound with many hits on album. Seems ahead of it’s time.

Pleasantly surprised. Had only ever heard the overplayed singles.

Not bad, not amazing

Histórico

Has all of the Oasis songs I know. What is on their other albums?

An album with more singles than it knows what to do with. Taken by themselves, these songs are well written and have a fully formed sonic vision. Too much personal exposure blunts their impact on me now but something needs to be said for their ability to command attention. Its not a 5 star album for me because all of their low tempo acoustic stuff all sounds the exact same!

Definitive sound, sometimes a bit repetitive in the first half of the album with similar vocal delivery. The second half picks up considerably and ends well. Keeps your attention throughout and is a perfect length. Some might say favourite

Good album. not much to say

thumbs up

Cool classic rock bangers, nearly all good songs. 7/10

1995. Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Morning Glory

Obviously the mainstream hits: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova Really liked She's Electric, Morning Glory, Some Might Say as well 1st album on 1001, have not listened to the whole of this album before With 3 as an 'average' album, 4/5, not a fan of some of the songs, score is pulled up by aforementioned mainstream hits which taking nothing away from them, are really good

Some big hits on here, some of the filler songs did nothing though

Known this album for a long time. It’s a great one

Roll with it is a great track. Very 90s nostalgic feel and very beatles-esque. Dont look back in Anger is also a banger. Wonderwall isn't the best track on this album!!

Classic, classic album. One of my favorite of the Brit pop era. Liam’s voice gets a little grating at times and songs tend to go a bit long on the outros, but great collection of singles carries this album. Pick of the album is “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” nothing wrong with ripping off your influences when it works this well.

Continuing with the 90s, this album was more tolerable to listen to than when it was on repeat.

Totally rad album. I didn’t realize how many bangers were on this. Absolutely deserves to be on this list.

Un album qui a créé un genre ou du moins popularisé. Un band très gros avec un album aussi gros contenant les classiques chansons de oasis que tout le monde connaît. J'ai aimé le son plus rock que les chansons que je connaissais sur labum . 4.25

This album specifically reminds me of the time in 1995 when my brother and I were planning a day trip to Auckland but he locked the keys in the car at the Five Cross Roads petrol station. But once the keys were liberated, we took off to Auckland, the Oasis CD blasting from the stereo. Morning Glory is a very full-on album. Every track is dialled up to 11, all rock 'n' roll excess. But if you're going to go there, you should go all the way - and that's what they did. It still holds up, but it's not the sort of album I'd ever relax with now. I'm older and I don't have the mental stamina for such vast expressions of rockstravagance. But from time to time, it is as enjoyable and comforting as a cup of tea.

More of a 3.5 than a 4.

Pretty legendary album

Love it. More polished than the first album Oasis released. Really well produced. There are some great hits on this.

i like the cover art

As much as I haven't enjoyed a lot of the Britpop that shows up on this list, this album seems like a reasonable choice. There were lots of hits off this album, and the rest of the songs were all solid. It doesn't sound that dated either, which is always nice with albums from this era 4/5

Champagne Supernova, Don't Look Back In Anger, She's Electric, are all great.

Mmmmm, like a warm blanket of good ol' alternative bliss.

Ja classic he, een tijdloze. Wel niet allemaal even sterk

anyway here is wonderwall Oasis op hun best?

Tunesome, classic. The loudness wars got to this one a little bit. Never listened to the non-singles, but almost every track could have been a single. That’s a rare thing!

La motivation à rédiger des reviews a totalement disparue, je suis du coup forcé de chercher à me réorienter dans un secteur d'activité me convenant plus.

One of my favourite albums of the 90s. Some great tracks starting with "Hello" "Wonderwall" is a classic but probably one of the weaker songs on the album. "Don't look back in Anger" "Cast No shadow" and "Champagne supernova" are all amazing tracks with a few weaker ones throughout. The in between short instrumental tracks go but don't go with the ones they're coming from/leading into. 4 to a 4.5 as far as albums go .

This album is the result of the height of the Britpop war. Before these tracks, Britpop albums held closely tied to their roots in alt rock, baroque rock, and punk, but starting in this album (and its contemporaries), Britpop began to take on an identity of its own. This album really put the "pop" in Britpop. Tracks are loud and orchestral hitting us with high notes and clear yet introspective lyrics. Nearly the whole album is full of hits (or should be). British Invasion influences are clear in many of the songs like the Beatlesesque "Don't Look Back in Anger" or the baroque "Some Might Say." It's hard for me to criticize songs like "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova" due to them being two of the most overplayed "modern" rock songs, but after listening to the album as a whole, I appreciate them much more. The album is consistent, and it initially shocked me how neither were lead singles, but it makes sense how much they fit in (personally almost all the songs felt like ballads). The weaknesses I felt was that this felt too oriented toward the pop audience, relying too much on loudness and instrument overload, and the lyrics aren't perfect either (catchy but for the most part not very interesting). This is a seminal British album that rocks from start to finish.

It has its ups and downs but overall it is a great album.

Oasis is a bit of a guilty pleasure to me. In terms of overall quality, they really can't hold a candle to other iconic Britpop outfits such as Radiohead and Blur. Despite that, I can't help but love tracks such as Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Hey Now!, Some Might Say, She's Electric, Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova. They are incredibly catchy, the lyrics are meaningless but fun, and there is a nice balance between typical Britpop mid-tempo tunes, psychedelic elements and sweet ballads. Liam's voice can get a bit on my nerves sometimes, thus Oasis is best served a couple of tracks at a time. A 4/5 for what I believe is their best record, is thus a fitting score.

I loved Oasis when I was in my teens and early 20s. This was never my favourite album of theirs though, and my general perception is that their music hasn't aged well, so I was interested to revisit this, with fairly low expectations. Listening afresh this album holds up a lot better than I was expecting. Noel certainly knows how to find (or borrow) a catchy melody and Liam's voice was amazing in this era. It could do without Hey Now or the two short unnamed (Swamp Song) tracks, but overall I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would in 2021. If anything it has gone up in my estimation since I last listened to it a decade+ ago. I suspect that may not be the case with some other Oasis albums, but this does stand the test of time and remains a genuine classic.

Very good album. I love Don’t Look Back in Anger.

I haven't listened to this album front to back in about 20 years. I've forgotten how good it is. Knowing how the Gallagher brothers have fared since their rise to fame has tinted how freaking talented they are. 4/5.

Very familiar album. Wonderwall still feels overplayed though I haven’t heard it in years. All the tracks are solid. Very good album

Some songs are classics and certainly hold up. Some songs sound silly to me and I guess there is a place for that but it goes against their persona IMO

Loud cocaine rock - if you’re gonna be rock stars be rock stars. No songs about romance or social issues or reflectiveness or politics. Just cobble some nonsense together, turn it up to eleven, have a ball and look the part whilst doing it. And it works. There’s only a couple of weak tracks on this album and Wonderwall will forever be the song that everyone in the university bar sang along to, whatever their usual taste in music. A moment. Well done, Oasis.

Really like this album. Should listen to oasis more.

Erste Hälfte des Albums ist sehr gut. Die zweite habe ich nicht genau angehört.

Classic

Super fun. I have a lot of good memories from finding this album in secondary school. Definitely a gateway album for me that led me to more distorted and psychedelic music from emo and punk. Nothing too artistically crazy but has a special place in my heart.

I don't think I realized how much of a bias I have towards 90s music. I feel like it must have just made some kind of impression on me from a wee age b/c I haven't really listened to Oasis outside of the hits (which includes more than just Wonderwall on this album) but just really found the whole album enjoyable. Would listen again.

90's Brit Rock encapsulated in an album. The middle tracks leave a little to be desired, but the amount of major hits and impact this had show its status as a modern classic.

Lots of people shit on Oasis, but they know how to make a bunch of anthemic singalongs

Only listen to this a bit. Managed not to get Wonderwall stuck in my head. Score! Great album though.

vOndErVolLL

There are a lot of jokes to make about Oasis, but this is a pretty great album that I have a lot of fond memories of.

Aanstekelijke rock! Nice :D

90s grunge sound with strong influence from latter years of the Beatles. Very good

The hits are there & overall rocks hard. I kept from a 5 because I think it suffers a little bit from a lot of the stuff in the in-between sounding kinda the same.

Love the hits, rest is good.

Only a meme because it’s actually good. It takes a lot of skill to make hooks out of lyrics this nonsensical. More of a 3.5 but I’ll be generous

It's easy to forget how massive this album was. Some really iconic tracks, but some nonsense too.

The Stone Roses singing Beatles songs. I do love this album.

Brit-pop. 3 superhits.

Great album. Most of the Oasis songs I know are from this album.

Anyway, here's wonderwall

Better than I often remember them to be

loved this album when I was a kid. still holds up.

A few good tracks, nice to hear again after a while.

Some memorable songs on the album. I can hear tones of The Beatles in some of there music...wondering if this part of there appeal in Europe

Great easy listen with some amazing throwback songs

And I thought that wonderwall was going to be the best song on their album, boy was I wrong. Great album, super solid all the way through.

Top 10 albums of the 90s

Pretty good, serene.

Previously liked songs off the album. First time listening to it as a whole. Thought it was great!

Great memories with this one

While a couple of the songs on this album have become jokes because of how overplayed they were back in the day, it's still a really good album. Proving that the most dysfunctional groups put out the best music.

This album is great. Wonderwall is a pretty good song, but not the song this album deserves to be remembered by. "Don't look back in anger" is the true banger, and the finale "champagne supernova" is also really good. Solid album, one of the best I've encountered here so far

Some good classics

3 songs that I will definitely listen to again. Overall enjoyable.

Glad I finally listened to it all the way through. Anyway here's wonderwall

Oasis is the height of 90s British rock

Very recognizable oasis sound. Some good ones on there.

A classic I feel glad to have listened to. What a nostalgic sound that I really enjoy.

Никогда не фанател от Оазиса. Быть может дело в излишней шумности их альбомов, может в манере пения Лиама. Так или иначе даже их самый известный альбом мне не очень-то нравится

3.4 I liked it but oasis is not my favorite. They have a certain vibe i can fw from time to time.

Not really that good not sure what all the hype has been about this album

Liked!

"hello" its ok but its kinda boring, like its a very formulaic. the fake wonderwall intro is good "roll with it" has a very beatlesque vocal harmony, but the song has the same problem as the previous one, its very formulaic and predictable. im seeing it will not be an album that takes risks "wonderwall" i hate the guitar. i dont like the melotron, i dont even know why they added it. i do like the vocals. the drum sound like the Metallica's st anger pan tone. and i have to add that this song has really pissed me off after listening to it so many times. "dont look bad in anger" i really like the chorus. i like all the instrumental besides the drums, i think all the album is going to have this sound. the verses are good too. "hey now" i like the rhythm it had my leg being a metronome. i think its kind of long, it could be a minute or two shorter. i think has most of the songs in this album its formulaic, but it aint a bad song, just that its kind of the same song after song, waiting for a hit. the interlude is better that wonderwall lol "some might say" i dont wanna repeat myself, but its formulaic and not only that, but all the formulaic songs follow the same formula, which i can see it has reached its peak and its not so high. i also have to add that the whole album has weird lyrics, they're a bunch of nostalgic/sad phrases tossed in a boring instrumental. "cast no shadow" if wonderwall didn't existed this would be the worst song of the album. its, as always, formulaic, but this time it isnt boring, its just annoying. the choirs (the "(ah ah)" and "(pride)") make my ears bleed. "she's electric" i kind of think the rhythm its good but dont feel it. and the rest of the song is boring. the highs of liam in (for example when he says "and i wAnt you to say") are not good sounding. "morning glory" i like the guitar, the rhythm and the vocals, not crazily but its pretty good. when liam says "what's the story morning glory" its the peak of the album. the solo is good. best song of the album as far as now 8,5 or 8 outta 10 "champagne supernova" i like the vocal harmony but not much the mix, i think they're a bit low ( i know britpop has things of shoegaze but still), i like the instrumental but i think the whole shoegaze style of the song its not very well performed by the band, anyways its not a bad song and i like the solo. As a whole the album has a lot of bad things: its very formulaic , repetitive and consequently plain. its a kinda funny album, like it can entertain you but not more, don't try to look complexity or smth interesting in it cause there's nothing. its simple and plain. its not a terrible album tho, it is just mid. between 5-6 outta 10

these boys connected with the collective consciousness, and the universe decided to express itself through them, it's a shame that most of the songs are overplayed to the point of exhaustion blur still better tho

Wow, surprisingly good right off the bat (writing this right as the first song finishes). I awas going into this remembering the brothers´s braggado and unlikability. But their self-esteem translates quite well into these rock anthems. I can see why they gained their status and became the fave band of so many people. I´m glad this has been suggested to me! Some really standout tracks, but I don´t think I´ll be running to relisten that soon.

In terms of albums from 1995, I’m definitely more of a fan of the one from yesterday, but considering I’m not usually into Oasis, this is alright. Favourite track: Hey Now!

Iconic hooks, some cool guitar riffs but I can't stand Liams voice

Pros: has some elements of what made them exciting in the first place. Cons: kind of indicates what's to come for the band. Still solid enough, but carried hard by the highlights. Wonderwall is overplayed as fuck but still a really solid and catchy song, Don't Look Back in Anger is an amazing powerful anthem and Champagne Supernova might be their best song ever. Other than that? Some solid songs, but the production is a big issue. It took a big step down from their debut, the whole album sounds badly mastered. You have songs where the vocals are super loud in an out of place way, on others the guitars feel super buried in the mix. It's not nearly as bad as on their later releases but still bothers me. It's still a pretty good album overall but the lack of attention that some of these songs seem to have gotten is sad.

so bsöff uncs finded das höchsti kunst. wonderwall gid abzüg

i thought i only knew wonderwall on here but that was i lie i knew every song despite never actually listening to the album before. i understand why it's on this list. very easy listening music.

So…I’d never listened to this full album before but I know it’s generally considered an all-timer by virtually everyone. I know about the frequent rifts between Liam and Noel. I like Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova. So I figured I’d be all-in on this album. And…it’s just not necessarily my thing. I certainly didn’t dislike it. Lots of catchy riffs and hooks. But just not something I need to revisit on the whole.

Hard to give an unbiased review since these guys are S-tier twats, and this music was fire-hosed into my brain by virtue of being a teenager when it was released in the 90s, but I guess it's decent enough from a songwriting perspective. I would never choose to listen to it though. Wankers

It's weird to know that a song on this album was dedicated to Richard Ashcroft of The Verve and that a song on A Northern Soul (by The Verve) was dedicated to Noel Gallagher. What are the odds that I'd listen to both albums, and therefore both songs, back-to-back? I'm listening slightly out of order, but still. Anyway, I hate to say this because I know Max HATES Oasis, but I don't really have a problem with this album. I knew several of the songs already, not that that really means anything, but I came in with a neutral-to-positive impression of them that wasn't really tainted by a listen through the whole album. Sorry, Max!

i quite like this album actually.

I didn't have high expectations going into this album because I'd heard Definitely Maybe and it was a meh. But, I found this a lot more enjoyable. Of course the singles are already well known, and burnt out, but the non singles were listenable enough.

Hey - I like this album, I like their first album too. It's fun - it's just a damn rock and roll album. Sometimes that's more than enough. Does it sound good? Not really, it's a mess. It is what it is, can't go and look back in anger at the mastering/mixing process, but it would get more stars if it was better produced.

I can totally imagine how much this album would have slapped growing up in the 90s and 00s in the UK. It's an album of anthems, that I didn't fully appreciate until listening to it intentionally now. It's still just a 3.5 to me, but like i said, it would have been an easy 5 had I been born in England. 3.5/5 Top tracks: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova

Their better album

Oasis figured out that one song and did it really good

so it turns out that all the oasis songs are on this album. i am conflicted because i do actually like the songs and think they’re good musically etc but my god i can’t stand when he gets nasally/whiny. also if oasis has 0 haters i am dead so i cannot rate higher than this.

esse eu sei quem é só nunca escutei, começou maneiro meu deus atualizaram o spotify eu to muito triste conheço mais músicas

Memes aside it's hard to deny theat Wonderwall is a tune for the ages. A couple of other good songs in the mix but falls short for me

Överlag ganska starkt låtmaterial. Influenser från, Beatles, Stones, T-Rex. Bredbent, ger mig en tom känsla. 3.5

very good walking album, liked the song with the name Sally in it

Ahhh… the battling Gallagher brothers. Takes me back.

Oasis aren't terrible, and neither is this album - some diamonds in the rough. But mostly pretty samey, often pretty boring, and Liam Gallaghers annoying vocals. Their reputation fucks them up cos honestly, how are they so popular? Probs because their diehard fans are the type of bloke whose favourite song is Vindaloo and hasn't listened to anything new since school. 6 / 10 Best track/s: Don’t Look Back In Anger, She’s Electric

I dont like the attitude and the arrogance of the Gallaghers and I would take Blur, Pulp, Suede, Supergrass, etc. over Oasis any time. Totally overrated, imo. The rating is not so bad, cause the album contains my favourite Song by them. Fav: Champagne Supernova

Sounds like music that would be played in a pub but did have some great moments
