Reviews (page 8 of 15)
Same feelings as previous album. I don't like them as people or as a band - but they have some great tunes that were the soundtrack of my formative years. Unlikely to listen to them by choice now but cannot deny the impact. Choice track - Dont Look Back in Anger.
Hadn't listened to the whole album before surpisingly. Now I have!
reminds me of my little brother, who has this album cover as his instagram profile picture for some reason. maybe we should start a band.
'60s & '70s vibe updated to the '90s. Great pop rock. Drops off a bit in the seconds half, but one of those 90s classics everyone needs to hear at least once. Highlights: "Hello" (strong rocking opening), "Roll With It" (poppy banger), "Wonderwall" (classic 90s pop song), "Don't Look Back in Anger" (anthemic), "Cast No Shadow" (kind of a late-era Beatles vibe. best song on the album)
And so Sally can wait! Good album overall, no real low points. Anyway, here's Wonderwall
No private session used for Spotify. I never really got into Oasis, maybe because I didn't have to because Oasis was unavoidable. Most of those songs appear on this album, so I like it for the nostalgia.
After all, you’re my wonderwall. 9/10
i came-of-age
maybe
Oasis aren’t as bad as some people claim. But neither are they as good as others think. This is not as good as their debut, and it has that godawful Wonderwall, but there are still a few quality tunes, such as Some Might Say, Hello and Don’t Look Back in Anger (which I’m still not tired of). Wonderwall almost drags it down to 3 stars, but almost never cut it.
Turns out Wonderwall still slaps? I can’t tell. I feel like I can’t pay too much attention to it cause it feels cheesy? Maybe that’s the whole album? I’ll just dig it from a distance. Ah I like this album the further in I go. What a finish.
It's that Beatles tribute album!!! Champagne Supernova my beloved...
banger
I love this album. The singles do most of the work but they are capable of carrying the entire album. I wish we had quarter stars because it's really a 3.75 but I will give it a 4/5.
Of course it’s got the hits. The rest are fine. It’s hard not to listen to it knowing the foibles of the Gallaghers.
This is the quintessential Britpop album made by arguably the quintessential Britpop band. I could do without the Swamp Songs because they’re just filler imo. The three most well known songs from this album definitely deserve to be their place but there are so many great songs here. I am amazed that “Roll With It” was the single for “The Battle of Britpop” as honestly, I think it’s pretty terrible. Wonderwall Some Might Say Champagne Supernova Don’t Look Back In Anger Cast No Shadow Morning Glory Hey Now! She’s Electric Roll With It Hello Swamp Song V2 Swamp Song V1
Will I enjoy this album? Maaybeeee Hot Take: Morning Glory is a better song than Wonderwall. I don't think I have ever listened to this album in full, but I do know most of the songs already. One of those pervasive albums we've all heard. It's just played absolutely everywhere. An absolute classic, and most of the hate for it I feel is simply because it's so overplayed. Champagne Supernova is another favourite. It's a strong album overall, even though I'm sorta sick of hearing half the songs.
Excellent album. So many catchy songs that I grew up listening to.
It is easy to shit on Oasis, and I certainly have, but I would be kidding myself if I didn't admit this is a great album.
it’s pretty cool
I've never been a big fan of Oasis. Listening to this album front to back didn't quite change my middling feelings on them, however it came close at times. The album starts out really well, but as it goes on the issue rears it's head: tracks going on too long. I can get why people like them as they are, but to me several key songs (Hey Now, Some Might Say, and oh dear Champagne Supernova) could easily have been at least a minute and a half shorter. That said, there's a lot of good here. Wonderwall is still a classic, Morning Glory is a great title track, Cast No Shadow is the best non-single song, Don't Look Back In Anger is probably my favorite, and (even with how epically long it is), Champagne Supernova is a hell of an ender.
Impressive but not perfect
Lots of good classics on this album
Enjoyed. Nostalgic
9/10 Favorite Tracks: *Wonderwall*, *Some Might Say* Least Favorite: She's Electric, Morning Glory
Oh wait Oasis is really good?
(What’s the story) morning glory?
Another round of high-school flashbacks. Solid all around, with clear highlights baked into meme and proper culture.
J'ai seulement trouvé mid les titres Hey Now!, Cast No Shadow ; et dans une certaine mesure, Some Might Say. Autrement, c'est très cool.
Good but man so angsty! Hard to endorse.
Possibly the most iconic record of the 90s period. Definitely the most iconic British record of the 90s anyway. Nothing but hits.
cool
While I do feel Oasis is a bit overhyped I do still enjoy their music. I even liked Liam Gallegher’s recent collaboration with John Squire. I have plenty of fond memories attached to (What’s The Story) Morning Glory. It’s an album that I fell in love with moments from the album as opposed to the songs at first. This all occurred in small increments over time until eventually I realized I enjoy the whole album. Modern bands that I think take what Oasis did and built upon it would be Blossoms, check out their self titled album, and “The Glow” by DMA’s. Both are worth checking out even if you only kind of like Oasis.
Classic
A classic for a reason
Peak ignorance and talent collide with a lot of amphetamines. So catchy, yet dumb sometimes/all times. The sneering singing is dead on, always serves the song. Don't look back in anger right into the Great British songbook. Nice touches/overtures call backs.
Love this vibe ! Some of the songs did sound the same though but I would listen to at least half of these songs again.
I actually enjoyed this album a lot more than I expected to. Rolled my eyes when I saw it was the wonder wall album. But I actually pretty much liked it all the way through, with a few exceptions. Highlights: Don't Look Back In Anger Champagne Supernova Hey Now!
Lot of great songs on this album
Very good of course, not a five star for me though. Never really understood why Wonderwall became so big Will I listen to again: 75%
I always forget how much I like the Oasis instrumentation/production. Also how well Liam Gallagher's voice works with it. I never realised that the wonderwall bass is strange, especially in the verses. Guitar solo on morning glory is so good better than I remembered. Favourite songs: hello, roll with it, don't look back in anger, some might say, she's electric, morning glory, champagne supernova. Overall around 8/10
I don't think I've listened to this album all the way through for twenty years... Not the biggest fan of Oasis but it's hard to say a bad word about 5 or 6 of the songs on here, all of which are perennial classics. The others I never very much cared for / seem a bit filler-y to me at the time, and my opinion of them hasn't changed on a relisten. So half the album is 5/5b and half 2.5-3/5 - so 4 seems about right!
Mega classic. One of the easiest albums to pick a favorite track from on this list so far. Favorite track: Champagne Supernova
04/03/25 Brilliant album, so many great tracks. Not my favourite by Oasis but nevertheless a great collection.
En su momento fueron una fuerza que prometía arrasar, pero, pasó y su huella se difumina más rápido que su inicio.
Pretty killer throughout. Don't Look Back In Anger is obviously one of the greatest songs of all time, but it's all great. Half of this album reminds me of GBV, which is probably an insane take. The idea that Oasis vs. Blur was ever a legitimate discussion is crazy. Oasis actually makes good tunes.
SLEPT ON.
Pretty good. Liked several of the songs.
Well, it's rock. Cool melodies, beautiful vocals, and a singing style reminds me of Twenty One Pilots. From 3.5 to 4
I was playing the back half of this in the car w/ my friend and she was like play wonderwall so I played wonderwall. I enjoyed this.
7/10 - I think oasis is actually this close (pretend I’m pinching my fingers) to being a great artist. I think that wonderwall being a meme kind of screwed them.
Definitely one of the best albums from the 90's
In overall ok album, some great moments lifts up to four star. Still album reminds me more from this era with great memories and feelings .
Wonderwall <3 Few other songs that sounded good, overall not bad but I love me some WONDERWALL. WONDERWALL WONDERWALL WONDERWALL WONDERWALL WONDERWALL WONDERWALL
Good start with Hello. Wonderwall is a classic, great song. Don't Look Back In Anger was fun, great guitar work. The rest of the album goes well, Some Might Say and She's Electric are also nice. Fun album! Best song: Wonderwall
very good album, a lot of acoustic and electric guitar and stuff, his voice is iinda weird though. very satisfying chord progression idk what to call it. the sonfs were kinda motivational.
Nice britpop album with a lot of great songs on it. The song structures are pretty good, with different melodies and motifs in all of the songs. The Beatles influence is evident, which can never be a bad thing. This is a more modern take on the 60s-70s pop, and the band did a great job developing the sounds further. The songs are both catchy and memorable, as well as musically well made.
Bissi das gleiche immer
I remember the radio hits, but never paid attention to Oasis otherwise. This album is excellent! They sound very influenced by the Beatles, but dare I say I would rather listen to this than many Beatles albums. Catchy beats, good energy. They always sound like themselves , but there’s enough variety or movement to keep it interesting. I may be a new Oasis fan.
Not exactly a fan of Oasis, but can't deny the amount of bangers on this album
Kinda wanted to rag on this album just because of the douche factor, but it's really good. Some of it is just nostalgia for the time, but half of the songs on here are pretty great. Loses a little bit because the non-hit songs are all pretty forgettable. 4.3 stars or so
Well...here it is. I was assigned the Oasis album Definitely Maybe a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised, especially after writing them off for years based on hearing Wonderwall a billion times. Well, here's the Wonderwall album that I dreaded. I expected whiny Liam the whole album, which isn't at all what I got here. What a great album with a nice variety. Oasis has definitely been growing on me. I may even have to take a deep dive into their catalog.
4/5 It's 2025 - time for me to stop pretending I don't think Oasis are one of the best bands of all time. I would enjoy this more if it wasn't for the awful nostalgic feeling I get in my stomach every time I listen to Oasis - I don't even know why but I have felt like this since I was a child and I cba feeling depressed so minus half a star. Standout tracks: - Roll With It (4/5) - Wonderwall (5/5) - Don't Look Back In Anger (4/5) - Morning Glory (5/5)
It's difficult to review. It seemed a lot more important at the time, but it's become generic by virtue of how many bands it influenced. I think it's worth the four stars on the strength of Champagne Supernova.
My note for Definitely Maybe was something like “I don’t get it.” THIS I get. I guess when Oasis is good they are great.
👍🏼
Solid.
I was pleasantly surprised by this album, while it still feels like generic britpop. A fun listen though!
A strong album with a number of really good songs.
Love the energy, mix also feels much cleaner than the other Oasis album Standout: Don't look back in anger, Morning glory
3.6 Better than I expected
This is a good example of something really good, that has 3 really solid songs.. but ultimately everything sounds very similar.. yet at the same time it’s still really good
Very nice songs
Some classic tracks. Definitely hear the Beatles influence. A bit simple and melodramatic at times, teased us with some hard rock but never got there. Still. Great album.
I enjoyed this album. A good mix of new to me and Nostalgia. Easy to listen to.
Anthemic, for the masses- genuinely enjoyable as an album. Didn’t redefine music but is immensely fun and has that chant factor that makes it indelible to British crowds
Better than I expected. Just a solid rock album.
A few great songs, need to like this album
Almost a 5, but not quite there yet. 4.5
Cut that swamp shit out and you got a fantastic record. Two really great songs and a bunch that are pretty good. They have a unique sound, they’re phun, they play well, they sing well. Production worked. Lyrics worked. No big issues. Very nice, enjoyed it a lot. 4/5
Nostalgic, easy to listen, teenage-y. Love the cover art. Easy listen for a workday - doesn't require concentrating a lot.
First lusten meh 2nd better 3rd a lot better
A light four. I enjoyed listening to it - I actually listened to it all the way through twice yesterday. Of course I appreciated the hits and found the deeper cuts also pleasant. So I must have liked it enough!
The Brother's Gallagher can eat chode, but Champagne Supernova, She's Electric, and Roll With It are not bad.
between this and definitely maybe for their best. good album some skips.. whole thing turned to shit after this record.
A solid album. I give it 3.5
Really cool music but some songs are a little repetitive. Standout tracks: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Some Might Say, Champagne Supernova
I got very into this album in college, and it holds up quite well. There are some clear standout songs, and even the untitled connector songs aren't as stupid as they could be. Really good, very close to five stars.
In the year of growly, gruff grunge these boys rocked their falsettos. It still feels original and dreamy; refreshing and bright. Holds up well.
7/10…britpop / madchester
Strong album and a great place to start with Oasis. I enjoyed it.
Pretty good album. Some really good songs on here. “Don’t Look Back in Anger” is a great song. Liked this. 4/5 Will listen again
This was good. Better than I remember.
ingenting man ligger och tänker på när man ska somna, men jävligt stabilt album
Många sjukt bra låtar! Älskar gitarrerna. Men några fillers
Great album. Enjoyed every sog.
Some bits interesting but not a big fan
Don’t get me wrong, first 2 albums are great then it goes a bit wrong…. Lucky then that’s this is the 2nd one and there are some belters on here. Unfortunately I find his voice at times a little annoying. Hence the 4 and not 5. Ps 1st album is better…..
a fun and enjoyable brit rock album with elements of alternative rock, grunge, and singer songwriter that maintains a playful energy throughout despite touching on heavy topic matter. Ultimately leaves you with a feeling of nostalgia and somewhat peaceful at the end.
The hits are as good as Brit pop gets. The filler tracks are still very solid
Dang it, I like an Oasis album. My friend Nick of Moral Injury was right in saying I'd prefer the back half.
Could have used a little more tambourine. Short of 3 of the songs having been played into absolute obscurity, this album boasts some bold pop-rock flair. It is not something that I think needs to be listened to in full, rather the magnitude of the singles far out shadows the work of the album, but regardless it is a masterclass in the genre.
This album is really nothing special, but I gotta give it an extra star for Wonderwall.
Ugh...that's what I thought when this album popped up. I've heard it before and yeah the singles are catchy, whatever. Just some Beatles wannabes that started the beginning of the end of the 90s. Plus the albums that are chosen for me on Thursdays are the albums I really get to sit back and truly listen to and to see that this special day was going to Oasis? Come the Frick on. I never listened to the album before though. I didn't come out the other end an Oasis fan but for the first time I got what Britpop was and I kinda liked it. When I first heard Wonderwall it was on MTV and yeah it was catchy but the video screamed The Beatles and I didn't want nor doea one need another Beatles. Take those images away and you hear all of 63-65 British rock with a heavy 90s song writing style and it is really good. I might not go back to it and as I said I didn't come out the other end a fan but I did get to listen to a really good album.
Never been a big britpop guy, but these songs can't be denied. This must have hit so hard in the 90s.
Never was a big Oasis fan but I'm starting to dig into their library and I don't hate it
Really can't be too mad at this.
Svinbra skiva.
nice guitar sounds
Great album
Admittedly I didn't take any notes while listening to this on Friday. This is such a solid record. Easy to listen to but also easy to dive in deeper. Some all time classics on this record as well. Good melodies, good production, good songwriting.
already listened 8/10
obviously several of these songs have been favorites since middle school but i had never listened to the whole album through. Some of the vocals are just a tad annoying in that 90s rock/punk rock way but after a second listen im more into it
CATCH UP: NOVEMBER 15 Oasis have to be my favorite band to never have a masterpiece album. A lot of my favorite bands I can just pretend they have a 9/10 worthy record, and even here Masterplan gets CLOSE, but god the three big singles just feel played out on this one. Wonderwall is still a good song and I'll defend it in that respect, but it's pretty consistent in quality with the other cuts here. I'm not sure if this album has "grown off me" in the traditional sense because I still adore Oasis as a band, but it's never been my favorite listening experience compared to Definitely Maybe or Masterplan. Those might be the masterpiece I so desperately wish this one was. But it ain't. However, when this record gets good, it's some of the best tunes Oasis ever wrote. Morning Glory is one of my favorite songs of all time, in the upper tier of "music that makes me remember life is worth living", and Some Might Say could warm even the coldest of hearts towards the Gallaghers' sappy style of Britpop. I don't think there's any route this album could take to perfection, maybe it just wasn't meant to be...but I can bear this reality too. 8/10
Oasis and Blur in the space of two weeks. This app knows. Another classic Britpop album with no skips filled with stadium anthems.
Fantastic album. That feels the same hearing it now as it did when I was 15.
I mostly hated this stuff in the 90s. Given 25+ years of perspective a lot of these songs are actually really great.
It’s very unfortunate that douchebags ruined Wonderwall because it is a good song. The whole album is good, but it is overplayed. Probably the best of all Britpop albums. Best track is Don’t Look Back in Anger.
I was there, on social media, when Oasis announced their need to pay for divorces or something I mean their comeback and I saw great clashes between people being over the moon about it and others' utmost need to proclaim "most overrated band ever". I don't care either way. I didn't mind Oasis when this was playing everywhere, I didn't feel a desire to have more of it. Their insufferable pricks schtick? Dumb, but it made me watch funny bits of their most catastrophic concert. They belong in here, I guess, all things considered. It's formulaic songs cooked to perfection. Not for me, but an achievement I can respect. And something I really like: they've nailed a truly attractive and fitting sound as a wrapper for those songs. This is commendably cool on the ears. I still don't care for it and the space Oasis gets to occupy in 90ies music annoys me a bit, but I've got to be fair here.
Was nice to hear something familiar
This one takes me back to the good old days. Great album with fine song writing and passion powering the performance. It’s too bad these guys hate each other. They could do something more.
This is the album that made Oasis a household name. And for good reason. It's an undeniable powerhouse of a record. There's not a bad track on here. Anyway, here's "Wonderwall." 4-5⭐️
I think album gets off to a slow start but the hits start rolling and it’s great.
YESSS CAST a shadow.. nice lyrics
Anyway here’s Wonderwall <3
i mean it’s probably a 5 but i only gave blonde on blonde a 4, so…
7.5/10. It's a very pleasant album with many great melodies. :)
While the world prepares for Oasis's reunion tour next year, this will be the first album I get from them on this journey. Of their first two albums, (What's the Story) Morning Glory is the more popular one in the Americas; an observation I have made from how many times I've heard "Some Might Say", "Champagne Supernova" and especially "Wonderwall" growing up. I will say there is some credence to the lasting popularity of this album. Sonically, the group channels their various influences—particularly the Beatles—in creating a vibrant and psychedelic Britpop sound, cranked up by the use of brick wall mastering, that feels anthemic and full of vivid imagery. Sure, some of the songs are straightforward fun rockers like "Some Might Say" and "Roll With It", but Noel Gallagher varies the songwriting to draw from personal experiences or emotions. Whether it's the somber reflection on his mate Richard Ashcroft of the Verve on "Cast No Shadow", the necessity to look forward on "Don't Look Back in Anger", or the use of words to paint a scene even if no meaning could be found on the closer "Champagne Supernova", Noel did an excellent job of penning these songs for people to connect with, propelled by Liam's well-projected vocals, Paul Arthurs's superb guitar play, and the complimenting rhythm section of Paul McGuigan and Alan White. That all said, this album is not flawless. Where the first half shows strength in composition, the second half falters. The two untitled interludes known as "The Swamp Song Excerpts" could have been combined into one instrumental blues jam session. Also, "She's Electric" does not evoke the same power and dynamic range as other tracks have, even if it tries to be cheeky by borrowing the same outro from The Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends." Still, Morning Glory is a fun album that serves as a shining example for Oasis and the Britpop sound of the 1990s. I don't expect to look back in anger at this one.
Highlights: Roll With It, Don't Look Back In Anger, Some Might Say, Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova. In a nutshell: an album that defined an era. Overall: 7/10
Oasis are like, a giant hit or miss, and after their first two albums they entirely lost their magic if they even had any, i prefer definitely maybe and i think its their best but even then, this one's fine, nothing super great though
I will start with the positives. most of the songs are superb. The total time doesn't feel too long ( probably because the songs are good). I very much enjoyed this album. However, I think you could probably reduce this album to 9 songs and not lose anything. I personally would get rid of the first song and just kick it off with ' Roll with it ', as well as the two swamp songs. I considered giving this 5 stars, but couldn't do it. Champagne Supernova is a good song but I think the album would have been better if they had finished with either 'Wonderwall' or 'Dont look Back in Anger'
Yeah yeah it's easy to meme on Oasis/Wonderwall, but as a complete package, this album actually kicks ass. The songwriting is smart, the production is crisp, and the instrumentation somehow feels grandiose yet intimate at the same time.
1. Hello -- 7/10 2. Roll With It - 4.7/10 3. Wonderwall - 8/10 4. Don't Look Back in Anger - 9/10 5. Hey Now! - 6/10 6. The Swamp Song - V1 - Barely even a song 7. Some Might Say - 5/10 8. Cast No Shadow - 7/10 9. She's Electric - 6.5/10 - Funny lil song, made me giggle 10. Morning Glory - 9/10 - Best song off the album imo 11. The Swamp Song - V2 - Barely even a song 12. Champagne Supernova - 8/10 Average: 7.02/10
There I finally listened to it, now my oasis fan friends can leave me alone about the reunion. Favourite Songs: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Some Might Say, Champagne Supernova. Least Favourite Songs: Roll with It, She's Electric.
Solid Brit-Rock
Loved the guitar in a lot of the songs. Fave is Cast No Shadow.
I prefer Definitely Maybe to this album. And I am also docking them a star for the whole UK comeback special ticket fiasco.
good
My favorite songs in the album are Wonderwall and She’s Electric.
Half stadium anthems, half sludgy filler.
Quintessential britpop, it's full of anthems and memorable hooks. The production is very simple but not in a bad way. The songs are easy and the runtime felt very short. I know the hits have been overplayed to death, but they still slap. It's a special energy that's fun to listen to, it captures the 90s british era very well. Best song: Hello / Don't Look Back In Anger Worst song: Hey Now!
Don't Look Back In Anger is Pachelbel's Canon. Just sayin'. Now that that's out of the way, the album still holds up. I still like Definitely Maybe better. Liked Songs Added: Wonderwall Some Might Say Cast No Shadow She's Electric Champagne Supernova
Much more than just pop music. 8/10
Great to listen 30 years later when they are back in the news. But oh god, this is tricky and I may disagree with some! 'Don't Look Back in Anger' is so perfect in every way, so familiar yet it still gives me goosebumps. The song, the structure, the perfect (Imagine?) start and perfect (beautiful and gentle) end, all the instrumentation, Noel's delivery, the huge chorus, the guitar break, all are second to none. And the more I listen to it the more I notice the drumming, it's perfect throughout but the fill between the guitar break and final chorus is magnificent! 'Wonderwall' is iconic, a song of the time. 'She's Electric' still sounds as bright and breezy as ever, playful and lovable. 'Hey Now' is better than I remember. Aside from that there are only 2 or 3 songs I really like. The rest I can take or leave, so I haven't played this in full for over 25 years. End to end it's not a truly great album for me. Sorry!
Some absolute classics on this one, probably the peak of 90's "Britpop" and one that I listened to a *lot* in high school and beyond. Anyway, here's Wonderwall.
Super fun rock
Oasis’ quintet album, it’s actually aged better than what I thought it would.
Q:? A: Need a little time to wake up, wake up. This is a well crafted album from start to finish. T’was great when it dropped, still is. Five of the songs are well known hits, and the rest of the songs are good. Own this one on CD, but haven’t listened to the entire album in a very long time. There’s no filler on this album, all good. Comes in at (4.3*s)
This is a difficult one. This album was huge and has always been a critical darling. It includes are a couple of huge hit songs that have remained in the zeitgeist (even more so now with the recent Oasis reunion). It is one of those albums that is bigger than itself due to all of the lore and history from the band's overall arc. I was surprised by how underwhelmed I was on this re-listen. It's got a couple hits and then is filled with a lot of good-to-OK songs. Overall it doesn't have many weak points, but the middle of the album is kinda filler. By no means is it a bad album, but I can't put it anywhere near the top of the list. It's solid for sure, but I doesn't hit that upper tier despite some of its lasting impact for me. 3.64 stars
Whats the Story still holds up for the most part. the title track is anthemic
Fun and cool album
Banger
Emily loves it and wonderwal
I assumed I was going to hate this album. Wonderwall is a cliche at this point and the brothers have made a fool of themselves more than once over the decades. But you know what? It works. It's a very pleasant album to listen to and most of the songs work really well. Pleasantly surprised.
What a great album. I have no complaints.
Very good but better than the Beatles? Nope. Also so overplayed I do not feel the need to listen to it again for quite a while.
When I was a teenager and started developing more my interests, I stopped caring for the Oasis Brothers, mainly because Blur and Pulp were (and still are) much, much better in my opinion. For years and years I've held this public opinion of "Oasis sucks" that even my friends got tired of, but secretly I was listening to Don't Look Back in Anger and Some Might Say before bed or during trips. Today I finally listened to the whole thing and god dammit those Oasis Brothers made some good fucking songs. Catchy as hell, instant radio bangers that it's no wonder that they still get played to this day. Roll With It, Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in a straight row is criminal but a big listening pleasure. I still won't ever forgive them for being massive assholes, and Blur is still better than them. They got back and there's a high chance they'll come to my country. And while I'm not a fan, I'd go just to say I saw them live. And because I already saw Pulp and Blur, I gotta finish that Britpop trinity. And to piss off an Oasis fan because I bought a ticket they couldn't.
For me, there were two kinds of tracks on this album. The first type has a clear connection to previous Alternative styles (to me it sounded like Grunge), and even older stuff like Glam Rock. These are songs I had not heard before, but I predictably enjoyed the sound. The second kind are the essential Oasis songs - "Don't Look Back in Anger", "Champagne Supernova", and "Wonderwall". They sound just fine, and the lyrics aren't that engaging. The only song I really like is "She's Electric" - the tune is simple, but it's elevated by all the layers, the lyrics are fun, and the vocals work great in this song.
It’s a bloody good album. Hard to find a bad track.
First time listening to Oasis. OMG this is the album with Wonderwall on it, haha! Love the vibe. At times it almost reminds me of the Beach Boys (Roll With It). Easy to listen to. But over time his voice can get a little whiny. I feel like I'd love a lot of these songs on a playlist mixed with other stuff, so it doesn't get repetitive. Also, She's Electric is too cheesy for me. Favorite songs: Hello, Swamp Song Version 1, Cast No Shadow, Champagne Supernova
-I think I like this more than Definitely Maybe, it’s a bit more pleasant to listen to. Some really interesting subtle instrumental effects I like too! Wonderwall is of course a very high highlight, as is the second half of the album in my opinion. Thank you Liam Gallagher you strange strange man -Favorites are Wonderwall, Cast No Shadow, and Morning Glory
Great
Goed!
I would definitely listen to this again. Takes me back to middle school for sure!
hell yeah love this album ##seeing oasis next year
There's a reason that this album has long been considered the zenith of the 90s brit pop movement. That being said, it's grown stale with age, and the constant jokes about first year guitar students.
3.75/5
Solid album a lot more filled out than the last one. A lot of classics on it
Some of Oasis more notable and enjoyable hits, a very enjoyable listen. Anyway, there's Wonderwall.
Pre good, better than the first. Absolute classics on here with the go to acoustic guitar party song and the imagine rip off. But I really didn’t near to hear 2 Oasis albums back to back after 2 weeks of only rock albums
To be honest, I enjoyed this album way more than I than I thought I would. Solid 90s alt rock with plenty of catchy hooks, hits throughout the record. Morning Glory was probably my favorite track. Downside is it does start to kind of run together after a while, but sometimes that’s okay.
I was a 13 year old white britsh male in Lancashire when this came out. This was my moon landing. Definitely Maybe had set my world alight and this follow up was seeing them off to Mars. Im unable to give an objective review of this as i could sing every word whilst asleep 29 years later. Wonderwall, some might say, champagne superrnova, dont look back in anger, shes electric and cast no shadow are genuinely classics and the fact thats more than 50% of the album shows its quality. I think it falls down when Liam is asked to use his higher register. The 'Roll with it' hook grates me immensely and this happens in a few of them. I prefer the first album, the band members turned out to be pricks and they never really progressed from this sound. But they were ontop of the world for a while and this shows why
Really surprised how much I enjoyed this album. I had no explored to Oasis other than a few radio hits and hearing they are insufferable assholes. The hits are amazing and the rest of the album is a mix of indie rock and pop.
3.5 rounded up
A Wonderwallt leszámítva mindegyik szám tetszett – attól még nem lesz kedvenc, mondjuk, mert a mindennapjaimba továbbra sem implementálnám.
Pretty good 90s rock album. Good for casual listening but also could dive into lyrics.
Good album, important milestone in britpop
Britpop which for me is the Definition of alternative Rock, e.g. the well known song Wonderwall. Got stuck here for a week relistening a couple of times always omitting the rating.
now i understand why the brazilian milleniums sacrificed twitter for the oasis comeback
No amount of mediocre Wonderwall covers by "guy who picks up an acoustic guitar at a party™" can downplay how solid this album is. Banger after banger, yes even Wonderwall, especially Wonderwall. Shame they made absolute sloppa after this.
Overplayed but genuinely very good album. 4.5
Some iconic 90s song but nothing so original. I’d give it 3 1/2 stars but the system does r work that way.
Honestly a very fun album to listen to. Cannot deny it's influence and importance in pop culture. It's definitely more than just Wonderwall.
82% Fav: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova Least: N/A Must-Hear? Sure
Solid
Nice!
Excellent
Q - why does liam gallagher always order the soup? A - YOU GET A ROLL WITH IT
This is an easy 4 for me. Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova, Don't Look Back in Anger, and Cast No Shadow are all great songs. The rest of the album is solid and keeps up the momentum, but aren't as powerful.
Fun album with lots of iconic songs.
Reminded me of the Beatles which made it hard to enjoy because i had to force myself out of, but there were a lot of really good songs. Morning Glory was by far my favorite.
I can see the Beatles influence and why people would say they were going to be the "Next Beatles", but they don't quite reach that level. Good album though.
Great album. Songwriting is A1 and I love Liam gallagher’s voice. Every song should be a minute shorter tho and the production is super watered down
My CD sounds really bad :’( I’m scared that this means bad things for all my CDs. This album though takes some time to get going. Then it’s the shit.
This was my first time listening to a whole album from Oasis, and I have to say, GOD DAMN, IT'S LONG (pause). But honestly, it’s a bit too long. I really enjoyed a lot of the tracks—they’re iconic in British rock and you still hear them everywhere. However, I think if the third CD wasn't part of the album, this would have been a solid 5/5.
Not the best Oasis album, but still a banger. 4.5/5
Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova and Don’t look Back in Anger are all epic!!!! A lot of the rest feels a bit cheesy.
Honestly pretty good. Has held up.
An good album from Oasis. Like the classic hits from it but also Hey Now! and Champagne Supernova.
A classic
After hearing some bad albums that claimed to be "the answer to Brit Pop", it's refreshing to hear what none of them could recreate
Can't go wrong
Undeniable impact - this was everywhere when I was about six - and easily their best album for me. Hard to not get a bit fed up of some of these, and actually prefer the second half now, but very strong throughout. Only problem is my tastes have probably moved on now.
The last Oasis album. Say what you will about the battle of birtpop, but Oasis had an album of damn fine songs that ripped off the Beatles extremely well. On top of that, they made one of the finest album closers of all time that I am certainly not biased about because I listened to it a lot after my first big breakup.
The lyrics are the usual Oasis bollocks but some cracking tunes, soundtrack to the mid-nineties in the UK
7,9! Het is makkelijk haten, but what’s not to like
plenty enjoyable! anyway,
Oasis copies are probably overrepresented on this list, but won't penalize Oasis for doing it the best
4/5, nie tylko wonderwall był wunderbar
Good but not great
This was a great album. Oasis really captured something special in their sound and it has stood the test of time thus far. This deserves to be a top album on our list so far. With that in mind, this album is not better than at least one of the albums that didn’t get the elusive unanimous 5. As a result, I cannot in good conscience give this a 5. The search continues…
Today's listen was just as good as it was the first time I heard it all the way through back in early 1996. These guys were EVERYWHERE when this album first dropped, and you couldn't go anywhere without hearing "Wonderwall" at least once in the bar I was at. Liam Gallagher's nasally vocals are a little more bothersome to me now than they were when Oasis first hit the scene. Noel Gallagher is clearly the better singer and songwriter, but he's British ugly, so you now know why Liam became the front man of the band. "Don't Look Back in Anger" is still the underrated classic single from this album.
Really good album! I was more into Blur at the time, but I think this stands the test if time perhaps a little more
Even excluding Wonderwall this is really good
got some proper bangers
Dejligt album jeg har hørt en hel del igennem tiden - 90'er engelsk rock - what's not to like? :) "Wonderwall" er nok stadig min favorit - det er et fantastisk nummer hvor alle instrumenter slår tydeligt igennem på skift. På anden pladsen kommer klart "Don't Look Back In Anger". "Cast No Shadow" er også altid rart at lytte til.
Dette album er ret definerende for min tid i den sidste del af folkeskolen. Lyden er den samme gennem hele albummet - men det fungerer for mig, selvom det bliver lidt kedeligt i længden. Giver albummet 4 for at bringe gode minder frem, og fordi jeg kan skråle med hele vejen igennem.
Call me basic, but even if pretty overplayed 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back In Anger' are just great sing-along hits and always evokes feelings of cozy group events in me. And serve as a strong 1-2 punch at the start of the album just in case you forgot who you were dealing with. It's definitely a more commercial sound than what was probably appreciated at the time, but knowing what we know about the success of this album I think it's hard to say that Oasis didn't pretty much nail a popular sound on here. I have vivid memories of playing Gran Turismo 3 on my Playstation 2 while listening to 'Wonderwall' and Blur's 'Song 2' from the same era on repeat as a child. Guess I was bit of a Britpop fan back then even if I didn't know what Britpop was. Standouts: Don't Look Back In Anger She's Electric Champagne Supernova "Anyway here's Wonderwall"/5 (4/5)
started kind of boring but the middle was very enjoyable. not the most unique music but it fits its niche very well.
Bratty, noisy and swaggering with arrogance, the lyrics aren't lofty, but they -are- effective. The band commits musically, and everything feels part of a whole, albeit with subtle variations along the way. Every second song is a belter and/or classic; some have aged better than others. Not my favourite album, but you have to appreciate it for what it is.
Well, probably a 4.8 but not good enough for a 5.
All the classics in one spot. So accessible
pretty great, some songs that we nowadays make fun of like Wonderwall but it is amazing that it's not the only song on the album that's good.
More fun than I remember ! Solid anthemic elements with garage simplicity make this enjoyable for most everyone.
Banger
Tættere på en 5’er end en 3’er, satme nogle bangers på den her selvom Oasis overhovedet ikke er for mig og jeg ærlig talt synes hans stemme er træls
Day 35 of listening to 1001 albums, one day at a time. Morning Glory is a great album with some good songs. I think it always be known for being the album that help catapult britpop and indie rock in a new light. While the album itself doesn’t have much to say the legacy it left will forever outweigh that.
I could happily live the rest of my life without hearing Don’t Look Back in Anger and especially Wonderwall ever again. Other than those two huge singles, there’s not too much to write home about on Morning Glory. It doesn’t feel as impactful as Definitely Maybe and the opener is quite forgettable. Roll With It and She’s Electric are two other huge songs and they’re catchy as hell, but they feature some of Gallagher’s most annoying vocals and cringy lyrics respectively. The other songs aren’t especially noteworthy, often suffering from being decent 3-minute tracks that are stretched out to 5 minutes and just become boring after a while. It’s still a decent album and, while they’re definitely overplayed, Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back are both great so this is quite solidly a 3/5 Oh wait a second, it ends with Champagne Supernova?
I don't love how Oasis is so full of themselves. But the album is pretty good.
Pretty Good. Some notable songs, some not so much. 3.5
Childhood nostalgia. Reminded me of a 90's beatles (probably cause british)
8 / 10 Uno de los mejores albums del Brit-pop de los 90. Tiene pelotazos como Wonderwall que son un 10.
Yep, pretty good. Standouts include Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Morning Glory, and Champagne Supernova.
mér fannst þetta alltaf frekar púkalegt band en mér til undrunar fílaði ég þetta. sér í lagi slagarana. gef þessu 4 í forundran.
p770. 1995. 4 stars. THE sound of Britain in the early 90s, and a decent Beatles clone to counter Blur's Kinks imitation. Some great songs here, fabulous production, and Liam Gallagher sings like a bastard. Point deducted for suspect lyrics, filler ("The Swamp Song"), and the obvious thefts from Slade, Gary Glitter and T.Rex.
Good
if you take out wonderwall it ironically becomes a better album to listen to
I think I disliked the hype surrounding that record so much when it came out that I refused to really listen to it. All the talk about the new Beatles, the drama with the other bands of the time, added to the fact that the music did not seem all that original, completely turned me off. But all these years later, it really stands the test of time. The songs feel honest and there is a sense of energy and life to them. It is good rock'n'roll, makes its point and leaves it there. I enjoyed it a lot.
From the very first notes it’s clear this is Richer (“Wonderwall”), more expansive (“Don’t Look Back”) and more fully realized than Def Maybe, with more force and drive and considerably sharper teeth (“Morning Glory”). Looser (“She’s Electric”) and more confident (“Some Might Say” among other tunes) and ambitious (“Champagne Supernova”) – a band truly hitting its stride. Looking back from three full decades, it’s perfectly clear how Oasis owned a certain moment, ushered in a distinct era and far excelled Blur (not saying much) in that rather silly argument of the day. But it’s just as obvious that there’s a flash-in-the-pan vibe here; they were great for one record (this one) or maybe 1.5. They were timely in the right time/right place and the audience/market were ready, a perfect updating of British rock star tropes at a time they needed updating. It would have been necessary, perhaps, for someone to invent Oasis if they hadn’t come along on their own.
Back in the mid 90’s my brother in-law recommended this album to me thinking I would dig it. I did, just not enough. The Beatle wannabes had something, just not enough of it. After a fresh listen & knowing all about the Gallagher bros fussing & fighting, I like this album a bit more than I did way back when.
Classic. Songwriting is no joke. Brothers brothering
I’ve heard it a million times
Solid album
Roll With It // Wonderwall // Don’t Look Back In Anger // Some Might Say // Morning Glory //
I always liked The Verve more but you can't deny that oasis were musically better than most gave them credit for. Don't look back in anger and the overplayed wonderwall are actually great and catchy songs. So is the rest. In the end, I'd always prefer something more versatile.
Oasis’ (What’s The Story) Morning Glory is a fun-packed album. They decided to drop the best song first, with Hello. The production just sounds so phenomenal on this song, and the chorus is exhilarating . Nobody ever seems to remember just has that polished sound to it. I think it’s also the guitar that does it for me. Beyond the intro track, I like Roll with It and Morning Glory, the latter having may similar qualities to Hello. Certainly a great introduction to Britpop. All in all, (What's The Story) Morning Glory is a good album. Best Song: Hello Worst Song: Don't Look Back In Anger
It's a happy music with good positive vibes. Very long album 3cds! I love acoustic guitars and vocals
Britpop is just shoegaze without reverb
I had a bit of a sigh of dread when I got this, but I did have a little sing to the ones everyone knows! even after hearing every American play them at UK festivals I've publicly renounced them ig lol. But there must be some associations there because it rained all day and yet it feels quite sunny relaxing to this alone in the evening. That said, the most interesting songs were the first two (or four, if you were hearing the famous ones for the first time). She's Electric sounded a bit like they just gave up and got out the rhyming dictionary. The title track was good but droned into the same by the end. Mostly a vibey album for me
This album is the King of the 90s Post-grunge era. An absolute classic
Obviously knew the hits from this album but had never listened to the whole thing (blaming it on the fact that it came out when my first kid was in diapers). Was surprised how much I enjoyed the rest of it...would definitely listen to it again. Learned a lot about the sibling feud too (https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/liam-gallagher-vs-noel-gallagher-oasis-brothers-beef-history-explained-206050/) 4 stars
Great album! I never heard it before. I've heard Wonderwall of course, but it didn't do much for me and I never gave the rest of the album a chance. The rest of the album is really solid.
Oasis is a top 10 britpop band all time for sure, and their one two punch of 'Definitely Maybe" and this release right here are top entries into the pantheon
Didn't know all Oasis' hit came from this one album. Pretty solid.
It was good. I knew the songs.
Bit long but good
One of their best
Growing up in a firmly Blur supporting household my exposure to Oasis had been limited to their biggest and most overplayed hits like Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger. Despite this I thoroughly enjoyed this album with the standout tracks for me being: Hey Now!, Cast No Shadow, and She’s Electric
I mean... if this album never existed we would've never heard "Wonderwall" so...yeah...
Nice
Nice one.
Liam’s voice is annoying. And I don’t know how it is that I can be aware that Wonderwall is a dirge and still find it amazing. Still, this has some classics of the genre lol
This album has a bunch of jams between Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Some Might Say, Morning Glory, and of course Champagne Supernova. I'm admittedly not a huge Oasis fan but I can't deny their greatest on this album. I also really love Hey Now! I've realized. Some Might Say kinda sounds lazily put together production wise. Idk I usually like some more raw sounds but it hit me wrong. Cast No Shadow is pretty boring but I love that background guitar. Forgot just how much I love Morning Glory. Song fucks. Not much to be said about Champagne Supernova. If you don't like it I feel bad for your ears. Really a shame just how much the Gallagher bros are insufferable pricks.
Had heard most of these before; some parts of this album are amazing, some are mid.
It's got that one song on it
Cuando me jubile pienso comprarme una guitarra y aprender a tocar solo Wonderwall. Por molestar. El disco está bien la verdad.
Solid album with some really great tracks. Once of the first albums I bought many years ago. Still holds up.
Made me want to dance, not a huge fan of the accents
Good album. I enjoyed it.
Thoughts before listening: Probably the biggest alt rock album of the 90s that I just didn't really care about. All the drama around the Gallagher brothers must have turned me off, or maybe Oasis just seemed lame cause I was so into punkier stuff at the time. Whatever it was, I never paid much attention to Oasis. That being said, their hits are undeniably good songs so I'm excited to actually listen all the way through. Review: This is good. "Wonderwall" is an outright all timer of a song, while "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Champagne Supernova" are iconic anthems of their own. 4-stars
Worth a listen to from time to time
4.0 - I knew what I was getting into before I started listening, and this record delivered just that. All of their massive hits are on here -- I still sing along to most of them when they come on the radio. Of those hits, I think "Don't Look Back in Anger" is underrated, relative to "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova." I'd hoped for a surprise or two lurking in the deeper cuts. Instead, this album maintains a straight-ahead-good-lad vibe for its 50-minute duration. I'm A-OK with all of it.
a classic i hadnt heard before - first few songs feel great, but i did find myself getting a bit bored halfway through the album. i'll probably listen to it again, and might start to like it better
I personally have a soft spot for Oasis. Don’t Look Back in Anger is a legitimately great song. Also I’m probably related to them.
Nearly perfect. The lyrics are just stupid enough to dock a point.
Ah the 90s. Blur v oasis. I was actually more of a blur man, however this is still a very good rock and roll album. Some fantastic songs on there
Love it
Oasis, the band everyone loves to hate. I’d only been familiar with their hits from this album. They’re overplayed, but man do they sound good when you’re drunk. The first thing that caught my attention about this album is how shitty the production is. Those loudness wars were beating their ass. Apparently they were focusing more on big hooks on this album and it shows. Every song is so catchy and made for an enjoyable listen.
The singles - Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova - are great tracks and still hold up. Hey Now was very catchy and Swamp Song 1, while short, had some great instrumentals. The rest of the album was enjoyable enough. It’s a 4 for me.
I owned this album, which I can only assume was because of the ubiquitous Wonderwall (and maybe some nudging from Zach). I liked it more, listening now, that I thought I would. Don't Look Back in Anger, Cast No Shadow and Champagne Supernova are beautiful.
Very familiar with this album and I expect to enjoy it from start to finish. Roll With It takes an early lead as "least favorite track". I've always loved the strings in Cast No Shadow and it is my hidden gem of the album. I don't have to say too much about the great tracks so I'll pick on She's Electric as another kinda meh track for me. Overall, super high quality album and I have to nit-pick to get it down to 4 stars.
Fiiiine. Fine. I can’t listen to wonderwall anymore. The rest is nice
Consider my rating an 3.5/5. Actually liked this more than I thought I would. Felt like it wouldn’t really be my thing, but here we are. Pretty cool.
Used to absolutely love this and was fortunate enough to hear it live at knebworth :)
I like it will probably listen again to find more wonderwalls
This Album is a 7/10
Good debut. Nostalgic.
Previše fillera
Definitely their best album. Some of it you had to be there for, but still great to return to.
i know they’re a ridiculous band, but f-it, i’m going 4 stars
Decent - Rather Droning On at Points. 3.5 rounding up to 4
Better than I remembered. “Morning Glory” is the standout to me at the moment. I’m still tired of the singles as if they were flooding the airwaves yesterday.
Oasis' second best album. There's actually a lot of filler in this, listening back again (Hello, Cast No Shadow). The Swamp Song is a stupid idea.
Partly heard before Saved 9/12 Top track: Wonderwall
