Most of this made me anxious

some interesting and different sounds

Intetsigende

Really only one interesting song. The rest was very sleepy

Favorite: Once in a lifetime Seeing that Brian Eno is the producer makes so much sense. It feels kind of brain numbing, which there's a time and place for, but brain numbing cool guitars are not my favorite. This is not the Talking Heads' best work in my opinion.

Remain In Light - Talking Heads I’m going to probably upset some people but, I don’t like the Talking Heads that much. This album included, it’s just really boring. The songs all have fairly uniform sound and that sound (combined with the production) is not one I enjoy. The vocals were ok I guess but this is overall an era I also don’t enjoy all that much. I did enjoy “Once In A Lifetime” though.

I really don’t like Talking Heads beyond some of there hits. This album was more art school tinkerings with no consistency of sound or feel. The influence on Franz Ferdinand is especially evident on this but I just can’t get into it. I’m not even that into acknowledged “classic” Once in a Lifetime. Too many noises, too many different styles, and no cohesion.

Unpleasantly repetitive. Once in a Lifetime was ok. 2.5

1. Born Under Punches: A bit strange and slow 2. Crosseyed and Painless: A little more upbeat 3. The Great Curve: Funky fresh? 4. Once in a Lifetime: Classic 5. Houses in Motion: What is that instrument? 6. Seen and Not Seen: Uh oh, Talking Heads with a talking song 7. Listening Wind: Oh boy this is weird. Are we talking about some important global trader? 8. The Overload: What's the opposite of going out with a bang? Well I knew the Talking Heads were an experimental band, but this album is a little too slow and boring

good performance, many styles, like it.

Funky riffs, Once In A Lifetime is a good song, most of the other tracks feel like filler/hold music. One track album, won’t rush to listen again

Overrated band oh my laawddd

I can hear why it's good, but the rhythms are slightly too samey for me, and the quirky guitars annoy me more than I like them. Songs are slightly too long as well. The gloomy atmosphere is kinda impressive. But I'll never play this again.

Maybe I just don't "get" it... but these songs really didn't do anything for me. I know they were avant garde and were doing a lot of interesting things with their music at the time, and I respect them for their innovative edge. None of these songs did anything for me and just sounded repetitive. I'm not a fan

Other than Once In A Lifetime, this album is not my cup of tea.

College rock for the college educated? I'm not "against" cerebral music per se, but there has always been something about the Talking Heads that made me question whether it was me? Or was it them? I mean, a LOT of people love them. So I naturally wondered what it was about their musuc that I was missing, while "everyone else" got it. Upon listening to this full album through for the first time, at 52, I think I may have discovered what it is. It's musically appropriate for the era, and unabashedly lyrics for smart people comfortable with abatract concepts, diffuse meanings unascribed to the author and intentionally left to the listener to assemble their own meaning into it. Man, I'm way too tired to do all that. Genre Impact: Very High (TH is their own genre) Decade Impact: Medium Absolute Impact: Low Listenability: Medium Relistenability: Low

That's not my taste in music

Litt travelt til tider

Talking Heads weird me out for some reason. I tried giving them a listen a few times and the result is the same as it is with this album - I feel like I'm listening to a band made of psychopaths and murderers. Don't ask me why.

Very very mid beeps and boops. It's too 80's for me, but I guess this set the tone for the 80's? Bad tone.

I don't know why, but I really cannot get behind Talking Heads. Generally, I'm a huge fan of 70s and 80s music, regardless of the genre, but there's just something about their particular style that doesn't draw me in. I'm glad I listened to this album to broaden my horizons, though, as I'm well aware how well-loved and influential they are to this day.

ehhh not for me. I like some of their music, but not this

Album 2/1089 2.5 stars Meh... some of the songs were good but honestly I spent most of the time waiting for it to be over lol

This album would demand several rounds of listening and result might vary based on that. With one run-through this falls to two stars level.

It started off really groovy and funky, and I was like, wow, I’m gonna like this album. But after few songs, it just faded into the background. Maybe Brian Eno showed up and froze everything after the other guys tried to keep it groovy. Two stars belong to those first few songs.

I've always had problems with Talking Heads, especially with Mr. Byrne's vocals, probably more than a bit with his lyrics as well. This time however, vocals were not an issue. While the album has it's moments, Once in a Lifetime comes on top and most of the other songs don't make much of an impact. I like that there are a lot of cool rhytmics from around the world, clumped into songs that work, but many of the tracks felt like background hum and it was easy to lose concentration.

Started promising with the African influence, but not for me.

Not my favorite, repetitive sound that made it hard to listen

Quite Jazzy. Not a big fan. I actually liked the last few unfinished songs. Once in a lifetime was also okay.

The Talking Heads were a band that I never really ventured into because of the weirdness and mediocrity of the tracks I knew. The songs seemed to never end and were drenched in funky grooves that seemed awkward to me.

yeah I was just not feeling this one on a first pass

I want to like Talking Heads. I respect the impact and influence that they have had on the music industry and its artists. It's all a bit too 'Art school' for me.

I have an irrational dislike of Talking Heads - I have no idea why or where it came from. The music isn't THAT bad, it just irks me in a way I don't fully understand. Stars adjusted up slightly because I feel like my dislike is unreasonable.

Thought I’d like this better.

2.5 - not bad but not amazing

It’s Talking Heads… Weird music that ran together. Did I hate it? No. Did I skip to the next song mid way through each song? ABSOLUTELY!

Repetitive new wave album with some cool ideas and 'Once In a Lifetime'. AnD yOU MaY Ask YouRSeLf is this album any good? It didn't click with me but its hard to argue its anything but unique and full of fresh ideas. Highlights include the song where the vocal is a monotone reading of the Face Off wiki and Fela's Riff, a song entirely comprised of a fella's dope riff.

Musically really interesting - feels distinctly 80s despite using (I think) real instruments, so must have been quite influential at the time. Not really to my taste but can appreciate it's impressive. Once in a Lifetime clearly the stand out song.

Not really my jam. The vocals are not good.

Wanted to like this more than I did but it’s definitely cool

Too long and self indulgent

This was not for me. I was waiting for it to end

Didn’t enjoy it as much as I hoped.

All a bit weird and meh... apart from the obvious standout track

Not my thing. I don't see any of the stuff that all the other comments say. The first song is alright, but nothing after that was particularly interesting to me

After the first Talking Heads album I got, I was looking forward to hearing more of them. Was kind of disappointed. Talking Heads 77 is definitely a much better album. Most of this album is just kind of there, doesn't really go anywhere. Not terrible, but not really all that interesting either. Best song: Crosseyed And Painless

2/5, abbastanza monotono

2.9 stars

Boring I'm sorry... I kept zoning out. All the songs sound the same, they sound cool! But the same

not my type...

I knew Talking Heads before, mostly their big hits. And I’ve listened to this album before since it’s very highly rated. I never got it. Listened to it again, I still don’t get it. I mean I’m sure it’s great and beloved by many, I just don’t see how this is fun or interesting to listen to. Incessant beats that are somehow not intuitively rhythmic, just overpowering. Disaffected vocals. Very sparse instrumentation. Feels like some sort of weird sermon. Maybe some folks get some deep emotional connection to this stuff but I don’t. I give it two stars because I can see how it might be considered a seminal work for the genre, I just don’t like listening to it.

songs are too long; talking heads has much better

When it was good it was great but when it was dragging it was a chore. I knew “Once in a lifetime” already and I really enjoy this song but overall the album did not have a ton of parts that made me want to focus in more. High 2 but a 3 doesn’t feel correct.

gonna be honest... don't particularly like the talking heads. I find their sound to be a bit odd, like they themselves can't decide what direction to go in. I'll give this one a two, because it didn't really do much for me

Serviceable. Not the worst to listen to. Not a band that clicked for me.

Uh, what did I just listen to?

I went in with high hopes but my hopes were dashed. I don’t even know if that’s how you use that term in a sentence. This album just plods along, one song into another. You catch yourself drifting off in thought for an unknown amount of time, only to discover that you are listening again and find that it’s a different song but same tempo. I did not turn into a fan of these guys after this album. Listen at your own risk. Choice cut: Once in a Lifetime

Talking Heads are band I’d obviously heard of a lot but never really listened to until starting this project and for someone who doesn’t love 80s music, I’ve been impressed. I was excited for Remain In Light, and shocked when hearing it My first impression was Graceland-esque. White people do African tribe music. But this isn’t half as cringe. It’s very rhythmic and repetitive. I need to listen to it again but currently don’t see the genius 5.3/10

I 🙅🏻‍♀️ don't 🙅🏻‍♀️ like 🙅🏻‍♀️ new 🙅🏻‍♀️ wave 2 ⭐️

Unique does not mean good. Tough listen

I'm getting the feeling that I don't enjoy the Talking Heads. Their music is just banal to me. I do admit it's a bit funky sometimes. "The Overload" is the best song; the whole album should've been like that. In other news, I've been discovering new and better music. 2 stars for "Remain In Light".

the rhythms aren't riveting, incredibly repetitive and frankly the unique sounds don't justify listening. The execution is good but their heads were in the wrong place I feel. Standout tracks: the great curve, once in a lifetime

Lots of interesting rhythms, a little funk, and a very international feel on most of the tracks. "Overload" had a very Doors feel to it. Unfortunately, none of this did anything for me today. It just sounded like a mess to me.

⭐️⭐️

Not really my thing.

Once in a Lifetime is great…and I really didn’t like the rest of the album.

Hmmm, this was just okay. I've learned to love the Talking Heads from a friend, but this album didn't really hook me. I'd rather re-watch Stop Making Sense.

last song is nice but wow was this album mid

80ies Brit Pop. For me not overwhelming

Yeah I don’t get the appeal here. The guitar was weird (yet interesting), the singing was more like slam poetry, overall it was kinda just okay. Perhaps the novelty is why this album is held in such high regard but idk

I did not like this.

I was happy to receive this album because for several years I've had a strong aversion to David Byrne, and I was starting to wonder if it was unjust. It wasn't. Make no mistake, the Heads have a phenomenal rhythm section that drives the funky-dance aesthetic of this album. And, of course, "Once in a Lifetime" is a classic. No complaints there. But the album is otherwise overly indulgent and occasionally borderline pretentious. Certain songs are far too long, and Bryne's "I'm a funky nerd" aesthetic loses its charm over time. I get that the Heads were enormously important and influential for a generation of fans, but this band will never move me. God, I wish Tina Weymouth had been in a different band....

very experimental? there's a lot going on in every song, definitely too much going on. there's a gem or two in there but not worth the rest of the album 3/10

Once in a lifetime - Iconic. And a bunch of other songs.

Nothing remarkable as it is not the kind of music I would generally listen to. I would not seek out similar albums.

Really like once in a Lifetime, the rest not so much. Talking Heads being one of the bands from whom I only like a very small part of their music. One good track can not rescue this album.

Okay, so there are some intriguing songs but the overall vibes of the album are just a bit too weird and there's a lot of repetition. Not too bad as a background listen but not too great.

Started promisingly, got a bit dull, Once In A Lifetime!!! Dullness resumed.

Langweilig.

Not what I expected. From a musical point of view probably not too bad, but I didn't like it.

Third Talking Heads album arriving on my list and every time a Talking Heads arrival always seems to coincide with some real life catastrophe. If its not Leeds United losing at Wembley this album arrives when trying to purchase a new car the sale of which went so wrong I had to reverse the deal and then my old car then costing me an arm and a leg needlessly. The whole point of mentioning this is that even if I was minded to listen to the Talking Heads for pleasure, which I’m not, I seem to get little time to do so when the 1001 Gods present me with one of their albums. However in this case this is an album I am vaguely familiar with as it’s the only one I have ever bought. That was out of curiosity because of all the music press continually going on about them. No streaming then of course so the only way to hear an album and seriously listen was to buy it. So I did my time then trying to get into this so in all honesty don’t feel the need to repeat this trauma listening today. Nothing has changed. I consider it to be an awful album. It holds nothing of interest to me at all. The only improvement from my vinyl copy I bought is that I can easily skip tracks early when streaming. The one concession I will give it is that I am aware that the album is lauded by greater minds than mine as been of great musical value. For that reason it does perhaps deserve a place on this list. So with a doff of my cap to these musical geniuses I will move my finger right from hovering over the figure 1 and through clenched teeth bring it down on 2. I have just checked the 1001 book and seen there is yet a further Talking Heads album to endure. It would be nice to know when this will be so that I could stay in bed to prevent further bad luck befalling me. But alas that isn’t how this process works. I will keep my readership (ie me alone) posted. 2/5 28/9/24

Wow. Was war das denn? Afrobeat, Funk, Spoken Word, wirre Sounds und Abläufe, Melodiefetzen, Groove… Nichts zum Nebenbeihören. Once in a Lifetime ist Anspieltipp. Mir persönlich zu anstrengend und repetitiv. 2,5 von 5

#353. It's exactly what you'd expect from a Talking Heads album. 1 or 2 good songs accompanied by a lot of weird. 2/5: meh

Had a friend who adored Talking Heads. To me, "Remain In Light" was not a good listen (¬_¬") "Remain In Light" sounds like having your dry sock dipped in a cold puddle. Not exactly pleasant — eh? With mechanical beats and rheumy vocals, Talking Heads feels almost like a parody band.

Melhores Músicas: The Overload Piores Músicas: N/A 2.5/5

Once in a Lifetime is good

Apart from In a Lifetime and Road to Nowhere, only one of which is on this album, I guess I still don’t care for Talking Heads.

Art punk. Fully experimental, pinnacle of the 80's. I tried to love it, but something didn't click. Sad.

It's ok, nothing great except for one song

This is where the inventive and clever collection collapses in on itself only surfacing for the one gem we all know. Not helped by the dense production.

I understand what they are trying to do. I appreciate what they are trying to do. But it’s just not my style I don’t think. A few good ones on here. It definitely is an ALBUM rather than a collection of singles.

Honestly more meh than I expected. However, I definitely have a much more holistic view of albums than a lot of people. It takes good musicians, good vocalists, good lyrics, and good songwriting for me to be totally in to something. This album had about 1.5/4 of those things

It was ok, after reading more about the lyrics and the meaning behind the songs i was able to get into the album more.

I typically enjoy the Talking Heads, but this… this was not it. I feel like the music here may have been trying to program me to commit murders. It was like jungle robots clanging in my brain. I really don’t understand.

1 point for once in a lifetime but i just found this noisy

Talking heads are classic, and I've pretty much heard them enough.

For the most part this album lacks structure in it's tracks. I feel as though a lot of the tracks are jam sessions with a few lyrics sprinkled in here and there or at least that's the sense I get listening to Remain in the Light. There are a few tracks that I enjoyed in Crosseyed and Painless, Once in a Lifetime, and Unison. Would I purchase this album if I were to run across it at some garage sale for a low price? No. Would I go out of my way to listen to this album in full again? No. Did I waste my time listening to it? No.

Album sounded like one big long song

Reading about writers block, experimentation, random African influence, PR issues, Eno's exit -- this is what this album sounds like. Some NY art school kids mimicking Fela Kuti.

not my cup of tea

Good songs

There are good talking heads songs but there are no good talking heads albums. This one wasn’t quite as annoying as the others we’ve had and it has one of the ones everyone knows

Honestly, disappointing. I expected more from the Talking Heads. It was fine, but not really exciting.

Last time we had Talking Heads I said this: "Talking Heads 77 is too new wave for me. Some of the music hits a nice groove, there are decent elements of funk in there, but the vocals aren't my thing, never have been across the genre, and bring it down wholly. Just a style that's somewhere between nonchalant and whimsically ironic, no thanks." Remain In Light is the same, I don't need to say any more. Still a 2, still not something I want to listen to.

Interesting album with cool experimental sounds incorporating nature and African beats. Glad I listened to it but wouldn't listen again.

My ears were tired after the third song. I desperately needed relief, so I went and scratched my nails on a chalkboard. Problem solved.

Quite samey - not for me.

- these guys aren’t it for me - almost funky but not

not really my cup of tea :/

Trash Too much keyboard

This album is proof that different doesn’t always mean good. The looping thing got old to me halfway through the first song, it’s one of the things what drives me nuts about modern music. I’m sure it was a big deal at the time and had all these cool innovations, but it just didn’t do it for me. The one thing that was cool is hearing a song that weird al parodied (once in a lifetime). It’s 2 stars because it did have some cool parts. I liked the second half better there were some more interesting sections and more variety in each loop. I can see the Fela kuti influence, except his music had good instrumental soloists. This just has incoherent ramblings. Like fela kuli and Pink Floyd combined. I can see how people would like it, but not me.

Struggled to get through this one.

Other than the two singles (Once in a Lifetime and Crosseyed and Painless) there are only so many one-chord songs that I can handle.

As expected, an anchoring album of the 80s

New Wave und experimentell. Nun ja.

Not a fan. The only song that I will listen to again is once in a lifetime

Once in a lifetime is a classic epic song, but the rest of the album doesn't hold up. Frenzied, jarring and very memorable.

Not rlly my vibe

More like talking dead

I try every time but I do not like the Talking Heads.

Didn't really care for it.

Once in a Lifetime and a bunch of other BS

Very funky stuff. Loved the intricate percussion. Also interesting guitar riffs thoughout. Once in a Lifetime is a jam. A lot of the other tracks felt like filler though. Artsy weird stuff that I did not vibe with. As a whole it was meh.

I've always respected the Talking Heads. Interesting, unique, creative, thoughtful. I've just never been able to get into the music. I find it unmoving and tedious.

I wonder if they would have been as popular as they were without the music videos...like the groove, don't like the voice. And, I wish he was a Union man.

Their sound was interesting but the album just didnt quite hit for me

Not for me

36/1001

The Fela Kuti influence is clear in this one, but not as good. Overall rough, not much stood out to me. 2*.

People just did fat rails of blow then recorded absolute dog shit back in the 80s, didn't they?

couple of bangers but generally uninteresting

Once in a lifetime and great curve only standouts

It was boring

Not my cup of tea

It was pretty avante garde, and the only song I still actually liked was Once in a Lifetime. There was a track at the end called "Right Start" I think which was a partially instrumental piece from Once in a Lifetime, as if you stripped vocals and some instruments off it.

Once in a Lifetime was fine and the rest of it was fairly uninteresting

Sehr vom Afrofunk beeinflusstes Album der Formation. Treibend, aber auch monoton. 2,5

Copy and paste what I said about "Fear of Music". One thing to note is that Once in a Lifetime is prob the best song between the two albums.

Unique, yes, but still annoying.

I did not like this very much. It is way too experimental and wacky for me to enjoy it. I can see the appeal of the album but it's just not suitable for me.

Not for me

Just kinda boring. Didn't finish it.

1 good song on the whole album :(.

Pretty boring, did not like

Got a bit much quite quickly.

didn’t lost

Not my jam

Was never a fan. Only semi liked one song on the album and it the most popular one

Glemte visst å rata denna, men e kje så stor Talking Heads-fanboy

Mediocre, didn't really like it...

Except for the songs Once in a Lifetime and Overload, this album left me cold

Melodically unsatisfying, rhythmically bonkers. Interesting mix, vocals not at the forefront on some songs. The second to last song was surprising in a good way.

On näil parempaaki kamaa

It's tough to come out with a truly unique sound and be a borderline genre defining band but Talking Heads managed to mix several sounds to create their own "voice."

I'm sure it was groundbreaking at the time, but I was not a fan of the repetitive sounds (even with the experimentation on top) and the vocals are tough for me to get into.

I like once in a lifetime but the rest were too artsy

Groovy, interesting, but not my cup of tea.

Good songs but overall really weird experience.

Meh. Typical David Byrne yelling over instrumentation. I'm just not the biggest Talking Heads fan it turns out. The only song that stood out was days go by, but I feel like that is more because it's part of the collective pop consciousness at this point rather than the fact that I specifically like it.

I don't like the New Wave sound and it was hard getting through this album. There are plenty of okay songs but I hated most of it. It all sounded very experimental. Highlights: Once In A Lifetime Crosseyed and Painless

This is our third talking heads album on the list and I think the most famous one? I've listened to this one before. I can safely say I just do not get talking heads. It just feels a bit all over the place and experimental. I know a lot of people like them and I've tried! I enjoyed the last few songs on the album which were "unfinished outtakes" the most, which didn't have the lead singer in so I can only assume he's what I don't like. Even once in a lifetime, I know it, but not sure how much I like it Sorry talking heads, I tried, but we're done

better than the last talking heads still not a fan. feels like im drunk listening to music

I like Once in a Lifetime. The rest was kind of meh to me. Comes off as pretentious at times. I was going to give this a 3/5, but the last two tracks, especially the Overload, were dull and brought it down to 2/5.

It sounded pretty disorganized and noisy.

Super funky and experimental. David Byrne's lackadaisical vocals are at times tough to handle. Cannot stand the spoken word in Seen and Not Seen. Reminds me of the ramblings of a second year philosophy student at university who discovered the devil's lettuce.

no es mi copa de té

I like Talking Heads in small doses. Listening to the whole album at once just feels disjointed and random. I generally appreciate how unique Talking Heads is, but it's a bit much for me and less enjoyable in long form. Crosseyed and Painless and Once in a Lifetime are standouts to me. There's some highs and some lows on this album. The Overload is kind of a dull song to end on. I think I biasedly want to give this a 3, but I'll pretend I've never heard of Talking Heads and give it a 2.

Thought this would be higher

Listened to the whole thing. Don’t remember one song.

Never was a talking heads fan. I didn't understand why they were a big deal other than one or two good songs.

Eh. A little boring.

It's fine. But I think I need to have a kooky haircut and a beard to enjoy it properly. The bass is fantastic. The lyrics are probably very clever, but I can't make them out, so I have to look them up. The whole is less than the parts for me though.

That's some super 80s junk, right there. Repetitive, atonal, electronic music with shallow, new wave vocals. It's not great. But there's just enough of a 70s funk influence in here that it's not a total waste of time. Just barely.

Not my jam.

Some of the better work I have heard from TH. Am not a big fan of their quirky college New Wave stylings generally, but this has a similar feel to Bush Of Ghosts in places, which I love. It seems darker somehow, though. Only track I remember is the already-familar Once In A Lifetime - so this clearly made quite an impression on me.

Only Once in a Lifetime stood out here for me. Listening Wind was hypnotic, but hardly a game changer. I'm not sure what all the hype is about with Talking Heads. This sounds like it could have been recorded anytime between 1980 and 2000. You can't date them because they don't have a style. I rather like style.

I simply didn’t care for this. I feel like my tolerance for Experimental Stuff is at the exact level where I can get down with the most accessible radio singles, but the rest of the album just loses me. Once In A Lifetime DOES slap though, two stars for that bad boy.

That type of old rock that I find is more sound than enjoyable. Really dont like the lyrics/vocals either.

Didn't think alot of it. Not the worst thing in the world however I don't seem to crave going back to it.

Bit boring really

Other than Once In A Lifetime, I didn’t like or recognize any other songs. Alas.

Oh great, another Talking Heads album. My God I don't understand the appeal of this band. Nonsensical lyrics... Weird sounds... I did like this album better than the first Talking Heads album I reviewed (Fear of Music). Apparently, this album was a big change in sound for the band. Their singer, David Byrne, had a bad case of writers block, so on the advice of their record producer, Brian Eno, David began exploring the sounds of African drums, as well as horns, and a more funky bass. I think it is the heavy reliance on the African drums, as well as Tina Weymouth's phenomenal bass playing that made this album more tolerable to me. It certainly wasn't David's rediculous vocal delivery. Overall, I still hate Talking Heads, and probably will never listen to this record again. I will say the first half of this record was much better than the back half, and the Spotify link for this album is the Deluxe Version.... 4 more God awful Unfinished outtakes of songs. So yourself a favor and just listen to the regular version of the album. Favourite song: Once in a Lifetime Least favourite song: Seen and Not Seen.... And most of the rest of the album 2/5

Some of these songs sound like they are off beat, or as if a specific drum is off beat. Sounds sloppy. I just can't get behind the weird 80's dance vibe.

Didn't do much for me

this 1001 albums project has allowed me to learn more about myself and my music tastes, specifically that i don't like talking heads beyond their biggest hits. i admire the album's inspiration drawn from fela kuti, who i have enjoyed listening to as part of this project. incorporating musical elements from other cultures can be great if done respectfully and well. but despite this, the album just could not pique my interest. so many songs may have had a lot going but came across as monotone and boring. a lot of the album seemed too similar. i'm giving a 2 simply for the song "once in a lifetime." i did say i enjoyed their hits, so i will be fair.

This was a unique album; haven't heard anything else like this on the project thus far! That said, this album was interesting from a music study standpoint, but I didn't really enjoy the music itself, aside from Once in a Lifetime. I definitely know and like a lot of Talking Heads' biggest hits, so maybe their other stuff just isn't for me?

A lot of repetition going on in this album, plenty of looping but not a lot of originality. Maybe one good song.

Needs a relisten

I never could get into Talking Heads, save from a few mid-80s songs. This album is more a sound collage than music. The singing is particularly atrocious. Of all the songs, only Once In A Lifetime was alright, but generally I find this album to be severely overrated. 1.5/5

I love the talking heads singles but this album didn’t do anything for me. Just felt messy

I actually thought these songs were really interesting, but for some reason they didn’t really pique my interest, if that makes sense. I don’t like the spoken word stuff. I think the songs got worse as the album went on.

not their best album

I started listening to this at 8:30 in the morning. My dad had this record in the 80s. Didn't like it then, and don't like it now.

Wasnt my thing

Bit disappointing, to be honest.

Same as the last album. Fine.

Prefer Stop making sense from 1984. Lots of repetition on this album (each song)

Not my favourite! Once in a Lifetime is a fav, but the rest is a lot of jamming.

Best Song: Born Under Punches. I really wasn't expecting that futuristic sound. Felt fun and dance-y. Worst Song: Seen and Not Seen. Although I like the attempt at this kind of spoken word track, it ultimately doesn't work here for me. Overall: This album felt like a bit of a bait and switch. It kicks off with these killer 80s dance tracks, and then before you even reach the midpoint the style totally changes into a heady, serious, ballad filled album. I wish the whole album had been like the first four songs.

Another band I don't get - their hits are hits for a reason, the rest of the albums add nothing at all, such is the case here. Weird noodly arty stuff, clearly too clever for someone like me

Meh its different but definitely not my favorite type of music.

Not the best album

Eh. I must be anhedonic.

Tocado, mas sem uma audição dedicada.

Not really my vibe

Not my jam. There are some Talking Heads songs I like, but they’re not on this album.

Too experimental, repetitively syncopated melodies and percussion.

108. Remain in Light - Talking Heads 12 tracks Didn't expect to like this & wasn't surprised. I know they were hugely influential but it just doesn't do it for me. Once in a Lifetime is a special track, but 1 track does not an album make. Interesting funky beats though. 2/5

vond ik niet zo speciaal

Not for me

Surprisingly not very good. Once In A Lifetime is of course a great song, but the rest of the album didn't sound anything similar to that song. 1RS

I've always liked Once In A Lifetime but I really didn't get the appeal of the rest of this album. A difficult listen for me.

2/5 nothing special

One nice song, others are so so, not my kind

This album made me realize I'm not a big fan of Talking Heads. Their 4 big hits (that I know of) are enough for me.

I'm just not a huge fan of Talking Heads. They're a little too much for me. I think that the songs also go on for a little too long sometimes. I liked "Once in a Lifetime", but that's really all I would go back to listen to I think. Overall: Eh, I just don't really think it's for me.

Litt for snål for min del, men deler av det var morsomt.

its alright without being remarkable. Bit too electronic and try hard. 2/5

A couple of good tracks, but nothing special really.

A few good songs, but overall kind of a boring album.

Schwere Kost...

It's a bit bizarre but by the end of the album it kind of grows on you. Not my style, but a few songs weren't too bad.

Pelkästään Once in a Lifetime kappaleen takia pyöristän kuitenkin ylöspäin.

Never got into this really, wasn't horrendous to listen to though just didn't interest me.

Not my cuppa tea!

I have a difficult time making it through many of the Talking Heads albums because they seem to repeat the lyrics over and over.

Pues quitando "Once in a lifetime", me ha parecido totalmente prescindible.

regular

I don't get it?

As repetitive as Daft Punk, but far more musical. Still, not really my cup of tea

Better than the last talking head but not by much

Eh... There's too much synth in this rock. New wave was alright but not in this particular case.

Don't live this band

African rhythms, they get into my head and I can't think straight... Not a music I would normally listen to.

Meh, meget ensformigt

Good but, won’t listen again.

Pretty odd. Starts out proggy and funky. Ends dour and goth rock.

calssic experimental rock album. pas mon genre

Nope I just can't.

What the fuck was that.

Man, what the hell

And you may find yourself sick to death of the endlessly looped motifs. And you may find yourself ready to punch David Byrne for his annoying vocals. And you may find yourself wondering how this crap every became marginally popular. And you may find yourself not finishing this album.

Not for me

Boring

Only liked one song, not really for me at all

Didn’t like anything about it.

Forferdiliga monoton, einasta highlight er Once in a Lifetime

Too much Talking Heads on this list, and their shrill, pseudo-funk with shit voice just gets on my nerves. It’s repetitive, barely groovy, and honestly kind of exhausting. On this album, it even drifts close to disco at times, it’s easily their worst for me till now. Only the hit Once in a lifetime shines… a bit.

no m gustó

Honestly, I didn't like this album. It's not my style. I hadn't heard much from the band before, only Psycho Killer, which I like, but this album... I didn't enjoy it tbh.

Nope, I remember everybody was mentioning the Talking Heads when I was a kid. Maybe they even have a song that if i hear it I will remember it being played everywhere back then, but I didn't enjoy listening to this album. I respect their fans but this is just not for me, it's like 80s gregorian chants XD

i hate that stupid son of a bitch, bird guy i will kill you

maybe if i took lsd this would work

I'm starting to think, that this thing recomended maisntream

Could not get into the album the songs were not great.

A bit boring

I can't stand Talking Heads

Definitely belongs to a ZARA playlist. Not mine tho.

i only like one song - Once in a lifetime

Whenever I listen to these acclaimed albums I expect a lot, but this was a very boring and painful experience from start to finish. I’ve listened to 1 Talking Heads song in the past, and now that I’ve listened to an album I’ve decided I was right, the Talking Heads suck.

Other than Once in a Lifetime, this is just unbearable

Although I do like the big single from this album on the whole this album just wasnt my cup of tea. Not even really a hint of a song growing on me.

A decisive nope.

A bit odd, struggled to finish

songs are too repetitive for my taste, I wouldn't listen to it every day or even every month. not sure I enjoy this album. I'm sure you could find some nice things about it but I'm not invested in music like that to enjoy the album to its potential.

Had to shut it off on track two. Definitely not for me!

Not my vibe apparently

Koko ajan tuputtaa Talking Headsia, kolme levyä pariin viikkoon. Laatu ehkä parempi pystyi jopa kuuntelemaan levyn loppuun. Silti 1,25/5.

mehh://
