Reviews (page 12 of 14)
I feel like I’m supposed to like The Beatles, society says they are one of the greatest bands. I’m sure they shaped music for generations ahead of them, but I was expecting a lot more from this album. A couple of good tracks, Eleanor Rigby is a classic, yellow submarine let’s face it, if that was released today, we’d be all going wtf is that?
Revolver is one And Your Bird Can Sing away from being the second worst Beatles album and I don’t care who knows it. I accept that it’s an Important and Significant bit of Beatles work because of what it represents in terms of studio recording, but it can be hard to appreciate a hundred years later when you’re listening to these (mostly) dork songs

For my second album from this 60s rock group, it is a much better listen than the white album. The roots of experimental rock, melodic tones, artistic merits, and wonderous lyrics were taking shape but with the consistent tones that make a great album. Researching the album also reveals the ties that were unraveling the group by the mid-60s which could have given credence to shaping pain into art. My favorite tracks are "Eleanor Rigby" (as well as being my all-time GOAT from the Beatles) and "Tomorrow Never Knows".
I'm just not much of a Beatles guy.
평범했다. 브릿팝을 많이 들어보지는 않았지만 지금까지 들은 걸 기반으로 보면 브릿팝의 느낌이 물씬 풍기는 앨범이었다. It was ordinary. I haven't listened to much Britpop, but based on what I have heard, it was an album that exuded a strong Britpop vibe.
I really enjoyed this album. Lots of really engaging songs, it's fun, it's energetic and it's all the emotions.
Man, it’s so hard to rate albums by the greats. I also think I’m in a bit of a music funk generally. +1 for Eleanor Rigby + 1 for Yellow Submarine +1 for overall vibes
I hesitate to put this out in the universe, but, admittedly I never was a fan of the Beatles. Sure, I recognize that they were incredibly talented musicians but the Beatles were for me one note. That is, on this record they were at the peak of their powers and they thought Yelliw Submarine was what they wanted to say? So, I will admit that I enjoyed every band that ripped off the Beatles and used those melodies to great effect elsewhere. Except for the excellent And Your Bird Can Sing, this is a rather average pop record. 3/5
Decent as background music.
I guess if you have to listen to the Beatles ..this has some reasonable songs
Great listen. Some classics on here like Elenor Rigby, yellow Submarine. Always lovely to hear a remaster - however I wonder how different the original recordings sounded!
I don’t mind this album tbh.
One down, presumably eight to go
väga must-valge beatles
All these albums sounds the same: A couple of good classic songs. Some Indian vibes. And some boring ones. Btw, I prefer SRV version of Taxman! All together, it gets what it disserves.....being average
Where are all the lonely people was a classic but what the hell was we are all in a yellow submarine, legit can't find out
Honestly thought I’d like it more than I did. Some good songs but they were a bit too inspired by the sitar for my taste (felt like I was about to hear the mii noises from that TikTok audio).
Not a Beatles fan - intricate songs certainly and i enjoyed listening to them but wouldn’t be my first choice
I refuse to rate something higher just because it's important. I like it sure, but personally it's just not my vibe.
i have this problem with lots of popular critically acclaimed bands where i hear all the hype & love for these records and then i listen to them and theyre good but they dont blow my dick and balls off so i end up a lil disappointed. anyways yeah its pretty good
Decent but overrated. I do appreciate the musical innovation of the Beatles.
Some tracks are so beautiful and detailed that I can envision myself in 1966, with the specific sights, smells, and sounds…although I am several years younger. Other tracks were complete throw away. It’s a mixed bag
Classic Beatles, great stuff. But I've heard it soooo many times.
Still hate the Beatles.
I've never delved into the specifics of why the Beatles were so revolutionary. From my untrained millenial ear, the music just doesn't hold up. I don't get the hype. All their songs are bubbly and over-harmonized. Maybe there's some deep meaning to lyrics, but if so, I don't get it.
I like Revolver, but it's certainly not my favorite Beatles album. That would maybe be Rubber Soul or Let It Be? This one is pretty good though. I do like the Beatles but not everything by the Beatles and I feel like Revolver included the seeds of what their sound evolved to but didn't have the same crunchy hooks of their earlier stuff.
I feel like this was The Beatles when they were on the cusp of more greatness to follow on the next albums they released. Whereas I would say this is an okay album, nothing too special. It has great tracks like Eleanor Rigby, Taxman, Here There and Everywhere, Tomorrow Never Comes, but I feel there's a lot of filler too.
Dober
Eleanor Rigby was a great song
I'm not a huge fan of the Beatles and I find the album pretty mid in itself...
la primera mitad increiiiiiiible la segunda se me quedó un poquito corta
Not sure that i fully captured the beauty behind sophistication
nunca me gustaron mucho los beatles siento que los temas son silly
Stereo mix is top notch - panning vocals, ocean and bar sounds on yellow sub, etc. never been a big Beatles fan. The greats are greatest of great, but the deep cuts lose me. Taxman was new to me, I was reminded how good Eleanor Rigby is, and how much I dislike yellow submarine. She Said soaring vocal opening is pure Beatles. Tomorrow Never Knows is best on the album and Ringos drums overcome and save it from the experimental chop notes.
Not all that glitters is gold, and not everything by these scouse twats is a ten outta ten. Eleanor Rigby is tho.
I liked this, it was nice to have on in the background as I worked. Not something I'd put on to sit and listen to on its own.
6/10
They have done better I like Eleanor Rigby though
It’s fine.
Really a solid album, can’t complain about anything, Eleanor Rigby maybe was my favorite track on this album, close second was yellow submarine, both very famous songs, and they have a reason to be Rating to the album 6/10
Didn't feel it at first listen, enjoyed it more the second time round, might grow on me over time!
I liked the other Beatles album more that this one, this had some songs that I’ve had heard, but they didn’t really quite catch me.
Some great tracks and some alright ones. Good album but not great.
Not my favorite beatle album. I think the songs are cheap. Most are poorly mastered. Not my favorite
bitous FAVS (top 3): eleanor rigby, yellow submarine, got to get you into my life mençoes honrosas: im only sleeping ai gente so conheço e gosto das famosinhas -_- esses bitous as vezes n desce pra mim nada de surreal neles, e um album bem curtinho tbm, nesse caso GRACAS A DEUS, mas se so tivesse isso pra ouvir eu ouviria nota final: 3/5
It is an okay album! The ones that i like the most among all of them is probably Elenor rigby and got to get you in my life and I want to tell you. I would definitely listen to this album again
It was a nice introduction to the Beatles.
i like this one. taxman is sick, for no one is cool.
I didn't know what to except as I am not an avid Beatles listener, but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoy a lot of it
Not a bad album. Enjoyed most of the songs. 8.75/14 79.06%
Это местами было странно, а местами прям отлично
A good album for Eleanor Rigby alone. Not entirely crazy about the whole album though but overall I had no major complaints.
Album sympa mais ne revolutionne pas la musique. On passe un bon moment mais peu de musique restent vraiment en tête. Note : 3 À réécouter : Oui
Good o e
While not the best output from the band, really sets the groundwork for the later Beatles sound that would be present on Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road. To be far more critical, one could say the approach taken on this album is incredibly scattershot and some songs do fall through the cracks. Standout tracks: Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, Love You To, Tomorrow Never Knows.
The rating gets higher because of Tomorrow Never Knows and Eleanor Rigby, but it gets lower with Yellow Submarine. It's a good record, but there are mostly fillers.
The sound it’s definitely more colorful than it’s cover, pretty cool
Se nota la energía y carisma de ellos Con ganas de escuchar sus otros álbumes
me gustaron algunas canciones pero en general no es el estilo de música que me gusta. Sentí la primera y ultima cancion con demasiados sonidos y me resultaron molestos. Mis canciones favoritas fueron Got to get you into my life, For no one, Here there and everywhere y good day sunshine.
Me parece un álbum excelente y muy experimental. Usan sonidos nuevos y tiene muy buenos temas.
1. taxman - okayish, nice message, but nothing too fancy 6/10 2. Elenor Rigby - not really my thing I guess, but I could start liking it 7/10 (reevaluate) 3. I’m only sleeping - like the voicings, for a sad day this one’s alright 7/10 4. Love to you - oriental sounds are interesting, but nothing so much my thing, the last speed up sounds nice 5/10 5. Here, There and Everywhere - lovely love songs, 2nd guitar is not my thing, but overall very calm and relaxing 7/10 6. Yellow Submarine - old classic, it’s fun, but nothing I would actually listen to, expect for the jokes of course. Thanks Ringo for this “masterpiece” 3/10 7. She said she said - like the guitars; kinda cool 7.5/10 (reevaluate) 8. Good day sunshine - nice keyboard, groovy in parts, sometimes a bit uninspired; feels like a Beatles song I could like 7.5/10 (reevaluate) 9. And your bird can sing - feels kinda cool, but also pretty forgettable; bass is cool, but nothing too special 6/10 10. For no one - the feeling at the beginning is nice, I like the piano and the voice, the horn is a bit annoying 7/10 11. Doctor Robert - cool riff, this one I like, the interlude is great 8/10 12. I want to tell you - interesting melodies, but I don’t really get it 6.5/10 13. Got to get into my life - interesting blowing section, didn’t expect that, unusually upbeat, cool screaming part (wished it would be longer) 8/10 (saved) 14. Tomorrow never knows - a bit to experimental for my taste 4/10 Overall: 6/10 I can see how people like this, but overall I think the Beatles are massively overrated, maybe back in the days this was amazing, but it’s just not for me I guess Songs saved: 2 To be reevaluated: 3
*lesigh* another Beatles Album.... -1 for Eleanor Rigby +1 for Yellow Submarine +1 for general silliness -1 for not being cohesive +1 for not being a boy-band pop album -1 for Too Much Paul -1 for letting George play the sitar Honestly, it's not a bad album. I struggle to not be the asshole Beatles Critic, and this album shows me they grew some from their pop-rock roots. At least there's no skiffle. My rating: 3/5
Found it to be quite disharmonious and sometimes haphazardly thrown together. There are some songs I like, but I struggle to find the album overall enjoyable to listen to. I've never been a fan of the beatles, to be honest, but this hasn't made me into one either.
eleanor rigby might be one of the best beatles songs, but it cannot save this album
Taxman is lyrically silly Rigby is always ace
Avant garde psychedelia and a few decent songs.
Ok pesmi, nic posebnega. Beatli majo DOSTI boljse albume
Teeters on 4 stars. The good songs are great and there's a nice energy throughout, but there's a 'whatever goes' vibe to the album that's hard to shake. It feels like a collection of singles of varying quality. The top half of this album is an easy 4, and the lower half is barely a 3. So what to do? I think if it weren't the Beatles I wouldn't be agonizing over this so much. 3 stars. I do believe that's not a knock against the Beatles. Modern music written for an album makes for a better album than the pioneers of pop still exploring the edges on a per-song basis, but what the Beatles did on this album is still impressive. - I've listened to this one a million times, but not in a long time. Casual first listen takeaways: more varied, more substance than a lot of albums on this list. But lyrics are just a wee bit weak. Lack of album cohesion but that's fine considering the era - Starting 2nd listen. I think the reality is this is an easy 4, but far from a 5. Plenty of enjoyable songs and a high floor, but it's missing emotional pull of other top albums - I feel like I appreciate the breadth of music on this album but then complain about the lack of cohesion... Can I have it both ways? - I'm finding that my ears are too familiar with this album, and it instantly fades to the background. Hard to give a real rating if I'm not listening! - Is my praise just Beatles-bias? These feel more like shallow singles than I initially realized. - Focused third listen... I'm very disoriented by this album - The psychedelic theme isn't that fun for me. Definitely a point against this album.
I just can't deal with the pressure of reviewing these universally acclaimed, historically significant albums. This is good music. I went through a short Beatles phase. Otherwise, I don't listen to them on a regular basis.
pre listening: well its the beatles, yknow 1: taxmaaan love some conscientious tunes 2:
Heyrðu, bara "venjuleg" plata miðað við Bítlaplötu. Góð lög, og alls konar skemmtilegt tónlistarlega séð, en ekkert transcendant þannig séð.
I just don't get it. Some of these songs sound like nursery rhymes
As a Beatles Album, pretty ok.
Ik vind de Beatles ontzettend saaie kutmuziek maar ik erken de impact die dit album en de Beatles als geheel op hedendaagse muziek hebben gehad.
This also album was OK. It has a few bangers and a few stinkers. It feels more like a bunch of songs than a cohesive album.
Good not great
Beatles always hits
So many recognizable tracks, but I've never really understood Beatlemania. Does a song being recognizable inherently make it good?
me before listening hi dis album cover looking wild as hell boi but the Beatles are kewl I heard them before I'mma listen to y'all soon. after listening; it was good! I like the Beatles I like the song about sleep.
bunnch of classics
Hmm, I think of myself as a casual Beatles fan. But I guess I've never sat through this album before. And that's what it felt like: I was sitting through it.
I am no Beatles super fan. It was ok. I think they have better offerings.
i never know what i think of the beatles, a few great songs here but the album as a whole was okay? more of a 3.5 that i’ll give a 3
I love Eleanor Rigby and liked She Said She Said and For No One. I have mixed feelings about everything else.
3.5
Al principio parece que las canciones no son muy cohesivas entre sí, y al final tampoco jaksj
Its a Beatle album. A Classic for sure but not something id listen to in my free time.
Love 'Eleanor Rigby'. Love 'Go to Get You Into My Life'. Could not care for ANYTHING else. Not even one good deep cut. Wtf Beatles. How could you be so inconsistent.
Taxman is a great start to the album, strong satirical lyrics reflecting the working class angst of the rebel 60’s. Lovely staccatoed guitar riffs throughout. Eleanor Rigby gives an exploration into the feeling of sonder as it gives us small glimpses into the lives of a wide range of seemingly normal characters. Beautiful orchestral sounds contrast with the modern-for-its-era guitar of the previous track. Probably the strongest track of the album out of the way right near the beginning. The loose up-down-up-down strumming pattern of the acoustic guitar in I’m only sleeping puts the listener into an airy dreamlike state like that described by the lyrics, really appreciated this it’s a nice effect. Love You To continues this dreamlike state by introducing the eastern sounds of what appears to be a sitar. The commanding lyrics of this track combined with the hypnotic tones of the sitar make this almost feel like a set of orders or a call to action. The lyrics really promote the free love ideas of the hippie movement of that era. Here, There, and Everywhere almost feels at any moment like it could break out into an old doo-wop song. Enjoyed this one, it felt airy in the same sense of I’m Only Sleeping. The story telling of the lyrics of Yellow Submarine combined with the mixing of sound effects with the main rhythm really produce a whimsical narrative. This song doesn’t take itself seriously at all yet still manages to produce one of the most memorable choruses of any Beatles song. The verses in spite of their surreal lyrics lend itself to a sing-a-long on the basis of their easy rhythmic pattern. She Said She Said comes out strong with a prominent lead section, following almost in delay to the main melody. The backing rhythm following almost identically in timing and progression to the main melody really gives this song a stacked feel. Really enjoyed this one, something feels extremely modern (even in today’s terms) about the lead guitar throughout. Good Day Sunshine has a great walkdown in the piano section at the beginning which is just fun to listen to. Apparently used as wake-up music for the Shuttle missions which just adds to the fun of the song. Outside of the harmonised guitar in Your Bird Can Sing there’s not much interesting in this track. One of the weaker ones on the album in my opinion. For No One’s heartbreaking lyricism is almost contrasted by the almost silly way in which the bassline follows the melody of the vocals. This almost evokes the feeling of someone “plodding” along through life after a breakup instead of moving on. Really enjoyed this one. Doctor Robert is a clear but satirical song about the use of stimulants and psychedelic’s in the 60’s. Small bridge section near the end again brings back that airy dreamlike feeling, presumably a result of same drugs handed out by “Doctor Robert”. This was a very fun one. Really loved the use of the discordant piano notes in I Want To Tell You to convey the distress of being unable to put your words together and express yourself properly. Absolutely loved the intentional use of those notes, very very jarring. Really like the use of brass in Got To Get You Into My Life to back up the main melody in the verses. Absolutely loved the chorus section of this. Short. Simple. Feels heavier than I’d expect from 66’ Beatles. The almost SHOUTED chorus line really gets across the desperation to “get you into my life”. Really loved this one. Tomorrow Never Knows finishes up the album with what feels like an extremely modern drum track something more akin to what you would expect from the 90s or early 2000s. Bizarre and surreal jazz inspired licks peppered throughout this outro to the album returns the listener to the drug induced dreamlike haze that’s so present throughout the rest of the album. Overall this album is a great homage to the surreal, otherworldly drug fuelled haze of the 60s, combining themes of love, brief and surface level working class rebellion, with the drug peddler hippie era.
I mean, it’s The Beatles so I obviously like it. I’ve never thought it’s one of their better albums though. Got to Get You Into My Life is a clear banger and everyone everywhere knows Yellow Submarine and Eleanor Rigby but the other tracks haven’t made too much of a cultural impact for a reason. They’re all good but just don’t stand out. (3.5 stars)
I’m finally in an evolved state where I can truly appreciate The Beatles. When they’re on it, the songwriting is just perfect. The melodies are hypnotic and it feels like every note is placed and played correctly. Like music is a test and they got a perfect score. This is nowhere near my favorite Beatles album but still has some of their best songs. However, it feels like the songs that aren’t part of this top echelon are songs that they just settled for. Not bad songs, but very lukewarm ones. Again, the strength of the songwriting is there, but a greater sense of passion is just missing. As a listener, I don’t feel like the sum is greater than the parts of these songs. Sometimes I wish they would go ahead and really grab you by the throat, but instead there’s an air of passivity. Still a good album, but not The Beatles at the peak of their powers, just some glimpses of them. Faves: And Your Bird Can Sing, I’m Only Sleeping, Tomorrow Never Knows. Got To Get You Into My Life, I Want To Tell You, Here, There And Everywhere
Ask anyone who knows me, and they will know of my distaste for the Beatles. I've never cared for them, any song I heard I found a bore, and their tag of being the "greatest band to ever do it" so early in modern music's infancy always made me roll my eyes. That being said, I can't deny how they had completely revolutionized the rock scene at the time. Hell, even creating "rock" as we know it. And not in a gradual shift, it's a stark contrast. There is music pre-Beatles, and then there is music post-Beatles. They're a group where if you listen to an album, even just a handful of tracks, you can hear your favorite band in them. Their influence is overwhelming, and all roads (Abbey or other) lead back to them. I did enjoy the raw sound of the album. The jangly quality of the guitar and the bright register of the drums makes it seem amateur, but don't let that fool you. The production is tight, and well-intentioned. Realistically though, I can't see myself putting this album on again, and my next Beatles listen will most likely be when another album of theirs pops up in this rotation. Until next time, lads. Tracks I had left with: I'm Only Sleeping She Said She Said
For what this was when it was, it's probably fair to call it great - even important. However, listening to it for the first time ever in 2026, a lot of it feels kinda mid to me. Other than the few hits everyone knows, the only tracks that really made me perk up and listen were 'Tomorrow Never Knows' and, to a lesser degree, 'Love You To'. If they had leaned more heavily into that vibe, I'd have been much more interested in this. Three albums down, and it's becoming clear that, while certainly competent and undeniably influential, the Beatles just don't excite me much.
Yellow submarine sucks, and it this album loses a point just for that. The A side didn’t really do much for me. It just sounded like more Beatles. I did however enjoy the B side quite a bit. A mixed bag this was.
Not my favorite Beatles album, but it did shape their future releases immensely. Favorite songs: -Taxman -I'm only sleeping -Yellow submarine -For no one
Very good record. Special music for that time.
Obviously some good tunes here, a few that are a bit melancholy, a few trance like, and a few with an twangy guitar
Solid album. Nothing particular stands out to me. It seems like a feel-good album. I enjoyed Eleanor Rugby and Here, There, and Everywhere.
Beatles
Altmodisch, aber ich habe es nicht komplett gehört. Einfach nicht mein Musikgeschmack.
Niso ful zame ze od vedno
Iconic songs. Bit overrated imo.
Despite being an album I've heard of, didn't do much for me. Has one of my favorite songs from when I was kid, didn't realize how short the songs could be. A few songs with some experiments.
classic of course. my dad used to play the beatles a lot when i was growing up so definitely nostalgic.
Good album. Faves in album order: Taxman Eleanor Rigby I’m Only Sleeping Here, There, And Everywhere She Said She Said For No One I Want To Tell You
While I’m not the biggest fan of The Beatles, I do hear how their sounds have influenced current artists. Simply a decent album that I don’t feel the need to listen to again.
idk what to write here but overall I enjoyed it. it was pretty nice to hear something somewhat positively sounding after listening to radiohead only(even tho i noticed some similarities to them in some songs). My fav songs: Eleanor Rigby, For No One, Yellow Submarine. Fav lyrics : "She said, she said "I know what it's like to be dead (I know what it's like to be dead) I know what it is to be sad (I know what it is to be sad) I know what it's like to be dead""; "But to love her is to need her everywhere"
Quelques très bons sons mais pas si bien que ça finalement
i did listen to the the whole album but only 2 stood out for me the rest were boring
Fucking Beatles side bro
I GET IT! THEY WERE INSPIRATIONAL!!! BUT NOWADAYS THAT SHIT IS MID
Better than any others so far
As far as Beatles go this was ok
Frik! All the trash talking cought up to me. Damn why is there 7 of those at least got one out the way 1/7. At first I expected unseasoned boiled chicken, however turns out it actually IS listenable. By the way before writing I glimpsed at the reviews just so I can see HOW MANY people rated this album. It becomes pretty clear there is something off. As of Today 24.000 people rated this. the album I was give for yesterday only had 17.000. I view it often that there aremore reviews on popular records. (not how randomnes works) Buddy are we serious? You start this project to skip to your favourit beatles album? Are these 7.000 people even grown ups? And why does yellow submarine have this many listens on spotify what am I missing? So as I've said, its listenable but that's about the bare minimum you gotta produce for the seventh album after a career. At this point they should be able to hire producers who are able to music. Over a THOUSAND albums, seven of those beattles BUT 0 Creed and = Nickelback ones. Ok I looked it up I thought there was a bit Nickelback but there is actually none...damn. How can you make a list do like on Alice in chains and put 7 beatles inside DAMN! 3/5
I loved the diversity in each song. The Beatles are always a classic, and I’ve never actually listened to them in large. It always reminds me of my Nan, because she absolutely loves them. So any mention or song reminds me of her. It feels nostalgic, knowing this was her youth.
I prefer other Beatles albums.
Album has a few classic great songs but alot of weird psychedelic tunes as well
Oh the Beatles, they’ll never make me form an actual opinion on you
Didn't know most of the tracks, most of them mediocre with only couple of very good ones. 7/10
Honestly, not bad, but not my fav!
Pretty, sounds kinda old but understable bc it is, not my kind of music but its a good first time listening the Beatles
Classic but not their best 3/5
Experimental genius, no doubt Best = Eleanor Rigby Skip = And your bird can sing
So, I'm not a Beatles fan, but this album started with taxman and Eleanor rigby and I was kinda going "maybe I was wrong about them". Then we had extremely boring standard Beatles fare and yellow FUCKING submarine. No. Back in your boxes. Look, it was fine and the high points were excellent but also I want to give this a 2. 3 is probably a fair reflection though and I'm likely just being a hater
Wasn’t my favorite Beatles album, a little dull in some areas. It did have some hits though.
i mean...yea its the beatles. white men. some songs were fun idk but whatever. the beatles. white men. 5/10
Some songs I really loved like I'm only sleeping others that were just ok
'taxman' - calm song, it feels like a superhero theme..forgettable track imo 'eleanor rigby' - omg its the trending tiktok audio from 2020..this songs cool i like the strings in it; they're simple. the chorus is memorable. 'i'm only sleeping' - its okay, not my cup of tea. eleanor rigby is my favorite so far and that one was good as best imo. the background vocals on this song, i like. ooouhh nice outro. 'love you to' - i really like that entrance into the song. very arabic-esque. i actually quite like this song i might have it a little under eleanor. 'here, there, and everywhere' - soothing off the bat, this is probably my favorite thus far. cover art - love the cover art its very surreal some aspects pretty bizarre but very nice..i'd hate to see it if i we're high
There are two songs on this album that I love, but overall it is not for me. A somewhat overrated album in my opinion
Средненький альбом для битлов. Есть как классные и интересные психоделические треки, есть задорные, есть довольно унылые и балладные. В целом, нормально.
The Good: We have a means to defend ourselves!!! The Bad: Seems that the gun came without bullets… The Ugly: The hair… the damn hair… Oh great, we get another Beatles album!… See what I did there? I used sarcasm, which is the Brits greatest means of self defense… No, the album isn’t that bad… however, imagine, if you will, that this album was recorded by 4 lads who were note the Beatles, nor with their previous albums, would one still be applauding this album as the greatest? Now, it could be the era. After all, the ‘60s has some god awful shit, and this album isn’t doing to great a job to make me want to herald Revolver as something that one should appreciate and listen to, especially if you’ve never heard it before and you’re about to die… Worse of all is that, setting aside the known hits, which are great as there is no denying that Eleanor Rigby is a gem, with only a runtime of just under 35 minutes, I was still counting the seconds before I could shut the album off… 3*, because it isn’t total shit, but I doubt I want to play it again soon...
not really my thing but did have a couple songs that i liked, namely Eleanor rigby and For no one. first time i've listened to a full beatles album!
It was good
s’okay. getting tired of listening to men :(
Nice album
favourites: Eleanor Rigby, Got To Get You Into My Life, Tomorrow Never Knows I get that it was experimental, revolutionary and new, but apart from a few songs, I'm not a huge fan
Catchy
Classic Beatles sound, maybe not the most hit-laden.
Classic. But not my type maybe.
I get why they were so popular in the 60s. I don’t get why we still need to listen to them now
A fair amount of variety and experimentation on this one.
Not a fan of The Beatles but can't deny it this album is not bad
The Beatles in their pivotal pre-psychedelic era. Drugs and sitar have entered the chat! There’s some classics here, but the effort feels a bit disjointed thematically - Taxman into Eleanor Rigby, soon to be followed by some sitar? All three have a completely different feel, making the record feel more like a collection of ideas than any coherent work.
One of the Beatles albums of all time. No real duds, that's the nicest thing I can say...
not my fav beatles album but sure
One great song and a lot of blah
It's the Beatles, so I think i'm supposed to give it 5/5, but it's not their best.
Good album, but not magic for me.
Here, There and Everywhere is probably my favourite Beatles song, so that’s something at least.
Figured I'd go song by song for this one Taxman has fun music but really dumb lyrics - taxes bad! Eleanor Rigby is a genuinely beautiful song, no complaints I'm Only Sleeping is fine, neat reverse audio effects Love You To - yay it's sitar time! I just wish George Harrison would get out of the way, he sounds bored Here, There, and Everywhere - a little saccharine but it's a nice little love song Yellow Submarine is stupid and I hate it She Said She Said - I like this one, the plain lyrics shine a lot more here than in some of their other songs Good Day Sunshine - it's not exactly for me but this is at least a good Beatles pop song And Your Bird Can Sing is pretty solid For No One - I like this song but it feels like it's building to something and never gets there. The bass is good but the little trumpet solos feel tacked on. Doctor Robert - it's a fun little song about drugs I guess. I don't think there's anything more to this than "this dude will give you drugs" I Want To Tell You is fine Got to Get You Into My Life - a point of light reminding me that the Beatles do occasionally make something I like Tomorrow Never Knows - I'm not sure the instrumental noise fully works for me but they're doing something interesting with it. This feels like one of those Beatles songs that launches a genre. It's a more interesting use of eastern instrumentation than Love You To, which just had George Harrison lazily chanting over sitar music I feel like they could have reordered the album, some of the song transitions are jarring (both sides of Eleanor Rigby for instance). Overall I liked it well enough but I don't think I'll ever see what everyone else seems to see in the Beatles. Probably won't listen to it again.
To me, this really does not hold up against the Beatles other work. Outside of the well know hits, the album is just very forgettable pop. Luckily the least interesting Beatles album is still decent. Favorite track was For No One
Just a couple hits, but a good album.
3,1 - Bis auf das beste Lied der Beatles, Eleanor Rigby, konnte mich leider nichts so wirklich abholen. Lässt sich super hören, aber ohne weitere Highlights. Highlights: Eleanor Rigby, I'm Only Sleeping
Other than Eleanor Rigby, and Taxman and some studio experiments there is nothing to note. Its the Beatles so the "floor" is still above average.
It's so hard to judge their albums objectively for obvious reasons, but I just cannot get fully behind most of the vocals and lyrics. Nothing sounds as innovative or meaningful as their contemporaries like the Rolling Stones or Kinks. This album obviously has some talented writing and is close to their best work imo, but even this has some pablum like Good Day Sunshine.
My first Beatles album on the list! It's... okay? There's a few really good songs (Eleanor Rigby, for one) but as a whole I'm a little disappointed. I quite like the Beatles, but apparently Revolver isn't my album. Still, there's nothing bad about it whatsoever... I just wish the whole album were the few great songs on repeat.
the beatles have had some (personally) polarizing albums thus far. id put this cleanly next to rubber soul. right below rubber soul. im not as up on the bealtes compared to most, so i wonder if their later sounds have had, at the time at least, their 'novelty' (putting it lightly) wear off. ive probably listened to 100s of albums who would cite the later beatles albums as direct inspiration, so the ground-breaking-ness doesnt land. their older albums sound fresh and the clearly older stylings are in turn, much fresher to my ears. its all good music, except for the piece of shit white album. hows the actual music of revolver? good and easy, i cant really place any criticisms. rubber soul had better tunes i guess. beatles album rankings so far: 1. hard days night 2. with the beatles 3. rubber soul 4. revolver 5. white album
I like the Beatles. This album isn’t my favorite thought. Some of the harmonies and funky things going on I do enjoy but it’s a little too weird for me to listen to on a regular basis. I also don’t like how repetitive it is.
Middle of the ground! Good, not great, and didn't have any crazy takeaways. It did, however, get me to go back and listen to Lennon's "Imagine", which is an awesome song.
there are SEVEN Beatles albums on this list. there are ZERO classical (western or otherwise) albums on this list. classical genres were specifically excluded. that's all.
Not their best work
Exactly as expected: flashes of genius mixed with a few “what is this?” moments. Innovative, classic, maybe iconic at times, but not exactly replayable.
I can understand young trendies rubbishing them but they don’t realise how much their idols owe to the Beatles, amongst others. They just hear as boomer music and put it in the bin. Just because. Oddly enough, I’m not much of a Beatles fan, either, considering I grew up with them. There isn't a song on the album that I’d listen to again, except maybe Eleanor Rigby, but I can’t say the album isn't influential based on my personal tastes. I know lots of reviewers do, though. A 3
Not as great as their others, but still OK.
Taxman is such a dumb song. I think my Beatles listening goes in waves. I think I was riding high on a Beatles day and rubber soul and when I listen to revolver, it was not a riding high Beatles day.
Because it is the Beatles I felt I should give it a 4 or 5. So I gave it a 3
I’ve never really been enamored with the Beatles like so many others. I don’t hate them or anything, and I do think that they’re very talented, but I’ve never really clicked with them the way the rest of the world seems to. I’d probably rather just listen to George Harrison’s solo stuff, to be honest. Revolver hasn’t changed anything for me on that front. As a record, it feels disjointed and a little all over the place. Some of it is enjoyable enough, but then they drop a clunker like “Love You To”. It feels like there are a couple decent tracks with filler tracks in between. They take advantage of some studio tricks on this record, which is kind of fun. And they take some artistic risks, some of which I think pay off, particularly when taking into account the year they write this. But I don’t think Revolver is unadulterated brilliance just because the Beatles wrote it, either…recorded in 1966 or not. In the end, Revolver is a decent, not great, record for me. I know plenty of “serious” music listeners would scoff and roll their eyes at that comment. And I don’t care. For me, the Beatles are a decent, not great, band. 3.7/5
I haven’t listened to Beatles’ albums till this list, and so far I like this one the best.
These would be so much better when played on home stereo, or mono with headphones.
Not wild about it, don't hate it, Here, There and Everywhere was my favourite
The producer’s the real genius.
Eleanor Rigby is a really good song but the rest is whatever. 3.14
ok we get it
Iha Classic banger
Not a Beatles fan but this had some of the good tunes on here. I was surprised to find Yellow submarine on this as I had always assumed that was on Sgt. Pepper...
Beatles are so mid man
Okay, if I’ve learned anything from this experience it is that I don’t love the Beatles. That said this one is better than the other albums we’ve reviewed. I’ll say 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 in appreciation of the 34 minute album length.
Didn't I already do this one.......? Well, I can see why people call it the best Beatles album, which isn't saying much coming from me.
Kind of a weird album, from Yellow Submarine to Good Day Sunshine to Tomorrow Never Knows
A good easy listening experience.
I always feel pressure reviewing a Beatles album due to how popular and influential this group was. I enjoyed the album, sonically it was interesting with lots of stereo effects. Yellow Submarine is my favourite track.
Yeh it’s influential and classical but I still think it’s A little outdated. They were nothing but a pop band. my fav track of this album is Taxman, then yellow submarine, then tomorrow never knows.
The Beatles are perhaps the most ruthlessly overhyped and overrated band in the history of recorded music but with this album I can almost, if I squint really hard, see "it." It's not a great album, but it's interesting - and with the Beatles, that's a positive change of pace.
Okay I don't know. I liked this better than Sgt. Pepper, and I thought it might be a 4 on the first listen, but like... it's just not there. I'm just not that interested in this style! However I will say that they are a step above just about all their contemporaries, absolutely.
I respect the Beatles a lot more since this challenge started. Through so many 60slop albums, it's clear to me how much these guys ran circles around most contemporaries, and the varied experimentation on this particular album is a breath of fresh air on that front (the sitar parts are especially cool). With that said, this is still a type of rock that doesn't much appeal to me, and aside from the historical interest, nothing really wowed me in the way even Sgt Pepper did with its big finale. Good album nonetheless. Standouts: Taxman • Good Day Sunshine • And Your Bird Can Sing • Tomorrow Never Knows
And Your Bird Can Sing is a beautiful song. Always liked Eleanor Rigby.
One of their better albums
Barely squeaking up to a three. It should be a 2 because I think the songs I don’t like i really don’t like, but per my rule if I like half the record it’s a 3 & I liked 7 of 14 tracks.
48/1089 actually quite enjoyed this even though i consider The Beatles not really my taste based on the singles and hits i’ve heard. I went into it thinking “at least i’ll like Eleanor Rigby” but ended up with a few others that i think i’ll return to. faves: Eleanor Rigby, Love You To, She Said She Said, Got To Get You Into My Life least faves: Yellow Submarine, Good Day Sunshine 3 stars or 65/100
I am admittedly a bit of a Beatles hater. I hate to say that because I fully understand and acknowledge that McCartney has more musical talent in his right pinky nail than I can ever dream of. Yet, for some reason so many of their songs sound gritty, abrasive, and dissonant to me. I think their sound just doesn't click for me. That said, out of my limited knowledge of their full discog, I believe this is my favorite album by them. "Tomorrow Never Knows" has always been my favorite song by the Beatles, and "Eleanor Rigby," "Yellow Submarine," and "Got to Get You Into My Life" are all fun bops - the third being my favorite out of those three. I really don't know why I can't get into the Beatles. It frustrates me because I'm well-aware of how adored they are, how much they've influenced music and pop culture, and how much their music means to so many people. Yet...
It was ok, never been a huge fan of the beetles. This album sounded similar to the doors.
Not my favorite Beatles record but that’s still pretty good, more of their psychedelic era but with a couple of classic tracks like Eleanor Rigby
Not bad but I wouldn’t buy it
Eleanor Rigby is one of my favorite Beatles songs. God, it is depressing though. The use of sitar would be an issue of appropriation today. I don't get the hype. Five albums in and they have two great ones and three (so far) average ones. I know it's a goof and Ringo is the silliest Beatle, but Yellow Submarine is the second best song on this album. Good Day Sunshine sounds like something from Sesame Street. Their output is absolutely astonishing in terms of volume though.
Not my favourite Beatles album but a good listen.
It was okay, first time listening to Beatles so I feel like I had to be there. Was very old
top 3: - taxman - eleanor rigby ❤️ - i’m only sleeping
I know a lot of people say this is one of the best Beatles albums, but I disagree. There are some good songs on here, I love Eleanor Rigby obviously, but a lot of the album falls a little flat. I liked what came after this record a lot more. I think this is when they were just starting to get kind of weird, and I like the weird. It's hard to rate this album - I feel like it doesn't deserve a 4 but 3 is not quite enough. I think I'm calling it a 3.5 but will round down because the Beatles have done a lot better.
I’m sure this gets a five from a lot of people. It’s good but far from perfect.
Rv
one direction could've done the same thing but with a prettier album cover. someone left the band early? check. tragically dead band member? checkmate.
Probably progressive for its day, cool sitar
Nicht mein Lieblings Beatles Album aber trotzdem natürlich gut. 3,5 Sterne
You'd need a Revolver to make me listen to it again. Perhaps influential and revolutionary at the time but this ain't it fr
Melancholic and happy We all live in a yellow submarine Album feels like my mood on a workday Getting into it and falling out of it 6.5/10
Pretty fine album by The Beatles, some.filler here but I do really like Eleanor Rigby
Carried by Eleanor Rigby, most other songs are just meh.
Just like Rubber Soul, Revolver feels like a transitional album between the old and the new Beatles. It’s better than Rubber Soul in my opinion, with a lot of creativity and some very interesting experimentations – the last song, "Tomorrow Never Knows", sounds amazingly, modern, it could totally have been made in the 90s (and still be original). But the rest of the album is a mixed bag, with some songs that don’t particularly stand out. It feels like something’s still missing before they truly reach their peak. Still a very good album for me, a solid 3,5*. Too bad the rating scale on this list is so limited, I end up giving the same note to albums that are wildly different in terms of quality.
I feel like this is academically a very interesting album, and it certainly has some landmarks in it in terms of recording techniques and the evolution of the psychedelic sound, but it's not the most coherent album, and has a few real throw away songs. Still, there's some great material, but it's not gonna be what I reach for as a Beatles album.
Taxman is excellent. One of the better Beatles songs. The production is ahead of its time. But it's overplayed and overhyped. It isn't terrible by any stretch but I'm just not a huge Beatles fan. They're fine but and I respect them but not my absolute favourite.
Abbey Road was better Favourite song: Here, there and everywhere
It was alright not my cup of tea, though did find a song that I remember listening to and didnt know it was in the album.
taxman - has a grrovy bassline but the arrangement feels empty and i dislike the politics of the song eleanor rigby - has a beautifully lush string arrangement and strong Y7 music vibes i'm only sleeping - is one of my favorites on the album from the guitar chords with the melodies and harmony to the little bass interludes love you to - george harrison sitar speedrun here there and everywhere - tasteful modulations throughout, eargasmic polyphonic texture yellow submarine - it's a motherfuckin yellow submarine m8 what more can you want she said she said - weezer's holiday jumpscare -> 60s psychadelia. i like the drumming quite a bit good day sunshine - i really like the piano in the intro and your bird can sing - the guitar arrangement is wonderful, particularly in the chorus with the almost onett theme sounding descending phrase for no one - classic beatles strong songwriting with a horn! the chorus is very comforting feeling almost. the piano also provides nice contrast against the bassline dr robert - the most eh song on the album, the harmonium section is kind of cool i want to tell you - semitone speedrun got to get you in my life - the horn lines are very catchy, not particularly noteworthy tomorrow never knows - this one is actually quite cool in terms of the drumming and droning; i think this is one of the most interesting on the album overall i think the songwriting is quite very good in terms of the very creative choices made in chord choices, arrangements and melodies but very few songs really feel like they speak to me personally. I like the experimental nature of some of the tracks but i doubt i'll be listening to it tons favorite song: tied between i'm only sleeping and and your bird can sing most interesting track: tomorrow never knows craft rating: 8/10 emotional resonance rating: 4/10
It’s giving lullaby. I liked Eleanor Rigby. Not for me I fear.
Liked it
6/10… psychedelic - classic rock
7/10 I've read a lot of rankings placing Revolver as their best work. To me it is far from that. It's not a bad album but to me it feels like a mixture of their previous pop albums and their more experimental work yet to come. Also, 'Yellow Submarine' might be their worst song ever...
Think this is my favourite Beatles album so far due to the sheer variety that's on display here. But it's not quite good enough for me to brand it with a 4 status for me.
Five beatles-adjacent albums in I fear I just don't get it. The music just doesn't connect with me. The yellow submarine feels like the opening tune to a kids cartoon. And while historically important, I am left slightly disappointed and confused.
It was okay.
Can entirely see why this was regarded as ground breaking - it's experimental and really varied. Lots of musical and cultural influences. Some really good songs. Here there and everywhere - sweet and such a contrast to the sitar filled I'm Only Sleeping. Got to Get you into life is a really fun pop song - nice lyrics, brass band / jazz vibes, and the ol' guitar too.
Eleanor Rigby is such a fantastic song
Menos elenor rigby las demás meh demasiada experimentación, eso sí muy moderno para la época asentando la base para próximos albums
I like the Beatles well enough. I have immense respect for the artists, the impact and more. But the music's impact on me is what I rate, and this gets dull.
Beatles truly ain’t my shit, only saved like 2 songs
3/5
I swore we’ve heard this one before. Oh wait that was the white album. This is as if somebody drew a bunch of boardwalk Beatles caricatures on the white album. Well joke’s on me, because the white album came out after this. Man the Beatles released a lot of stuff. They were only a band for like 10 years. Less? I’m not up on my trivia. I’m not up on reviews either as these have fallen way behind. Actually having to do ridiculous amounts of work really puts a strain on my life. I thought I was supposed to enjoy a mouse wiggling lifestyle until the bloat of this system crushes itself and the surviving few return to subsistence farming? Help me, my rockin’ scousers. Taxman - I swear I just heard a blues version of this. Who knows what the original is, or if I made that up. Maybe it occurred as a lucid dream. This is a good song. We’re off to a strong start. Eleanor Rigby - A famous song title that I feel like overshadows what the song actually is. That means I’ve never heard it. Decent song. I’m Only Sleeping - This is the kind of songwriting that seems to just pour out of Beatles album. Beautiful melodies, fascinating experimentation. A song that moody teenagers today wish they could write. Timeless. Love You To - To where??? Plz answer. Ehh I don’t care as much about this one as a song. I’m always a sucker for middle eastern instruments, but the lyrics and general melody aren’t really for me. Here, There And Everywhere - Man, this is pretty cheesy. Nice enough, but a little too sweet for me. Send it back, remove about two cups of sugar, and bring it back. Yellow Submarine - The perils of letting your drummer write a song. Was this a Ringo? I think so. I like the opening verses, but the chorus is infamously stupid. While you may think “hey, this guy writes at a fifth grade level, maybe he likes stupid things,” I say, that is a half truth. You figure out which half. Trick question, it’s both. I actually like this song. Fuck. She Said She Said - So modern sounding. We just listened to Radiohead, and this sounds like Radiohead except happy. Not a bad track, but I’m not exactly dipping into the inkwell for my letter home. Good Day Sunshine - Thisnis the song that Mr. Burns sang at the end of that alien episode. Good morning Starshine or whatever. Hell yeah. The song itself? Mid. Mid to abysmal. Somewhere in that elevator to hell. And Your Bird Can Sing - Are we talking English (country) meaning of “bird?” Like his girfriend? Or are we talking regular bird? God forbid we’re talking maritimes meaning of bird. That’s an entirely different song. This one is fine. For No One - A nice enough track. Can’t really dissect it further than that. Dr. Robert - Very old school rock song with the “modern” sensibilities that the Beatles were so good at supplying. Fun song. I Want to Tell You - Jeez I almost wrote I want to Yell at You. A Freudian slip. Well I actually like this album so far, but I guess not as much as I thought I would. Which is upsetting me. Got to Get You Into My Life - What I’ve got you’ve got to get it put in you. See fellas maybe we can change it to what I’d like is I’d like to hug and kiss you. I kind of hate this song. This has to be Paul. Too happy. Bad horns. Tomorrow Never Knows - This just feels so modern. I hate that I must conjure up their name so often, but bad things usually stick with me more. Here we go. This is what I think people think U2 sounds like. It is of course, not, but this is essentially good early 2000s late 90s alt written in the mid 60’s. Not what I expected. Revolver straddles a line between distinct experimentation and glittery, saccharine pop that evades description. Of course there is still plenty of influence worship throughout, as you would expect from a Beatles album. I liked this. Didn’t love it though. I wondered which revolver this would be. The gun that shoots me repeatedly in areas that really only cause pain, or the vinyl record gently revolving on the turntable, thrilling me with jt’s each and every skip. In the end, it kind of turned out to be a revolving door. A amusing day brightener in the world of bog standard doors, but nothing I’ll cherish forever. 3.5 HIGHLIGHTS: I’m Only Sleeping, Yellow Submarine, Dr. Robert, Tomorrow Never Knows
Taxman- 4/10 repetitive, message isn't as profound as they probably thought it was Eleanor Rigby- 8/10 classic I'm only sleeping- 3/10 Like the funky sound not much else Love you to- 2/10 Sitar is dumb. Here, there and everywhere- 10/10 beautiful Yellow Submarine- 8/10 She said she said- 6/10 Solid guitar Good day sunshine- 2/10 bad And your bird can sing- 4/10 For no one- 7/10 Doctor robert- 9/10 relistenable I want to tell you- 6/10 meh Got to get you into my life- 8/10 genuinely solid Tomorrow never knows- 2/10 fucked up tape sound doesn't work 14 tracks 34 minutes Average rating = 5.64
ovo je kao vrh vrhova? ne kužim. otvara super pjesma (taxman), a ostale su lošije, osim možda predzadnje (got to get you into my life). ne sviđa mi se lenonov glas. sve u svemu, nije loše, al da sam pao na guzicu, bome nisam. ne razumijem nabrijanost
I like this, except Yellow Submarine which gave me horrendous flash backs to working in game when people would only ever play thst on Beatles Rockband. 3.5 not sure if I’ll round up or down (as if that really matters)
Overraskende masete
This was fine, but a lot of the songs felt the same. Also, why did they do Yellow Submarine on this and then do another full album?
Very nice.
Even as a firm believer that The Beatles are hugely overrated, I quite liked this - it starts strong, with “Taxman” and “Eleanor Rigby” already on my (very, very short) list of songs by The Beatles I actually like. I didn’t even mind the sitar of “Love You To” (though do dislike the poor grammar), even after listening to Ravi Shankar earlier in this generator and despising it. However, by the time Ringo starts clapping away about his yellow submarine, the wheels had come off for me and, once more, I had started to wonder just what all the fuss is about.
Putting aside the at the time, "avant-garde" production, the Brahmaputra Eastern influence, the forward-thinking instrumentation, and the discovery of ...weed you're left with... not much really. It's an above-average album when you see what people put out even today, but it's not an album that stands the test of time as much as people would make you believe. When they actually try to write songs, they're amazing. When not, they're just... meh. Rating is subject to change though. Listen to: Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, I'm Only Sleeping, She Said She Said, For No One, Dr. Robert, I Want to Tell You, Got to Get You Into My Life, and Tomorrow Never Knows for a good experience, and skip the sunshine pop.
I get it, it was groundbreaking and massively influential and the generation that made 'Surfin Bird' a hit were lucky to be there. But that counts for very little towards the listening experience when you're hearing it first in 2025, by which time we've had 50+ years of development and experimentation by bands much less heavily commercialized and most importantly not fronted by John Lennon, who may be the most insincere and grating frontman ever. As an aside some of the reviews on these Beatles albums are deranged: so moist and overwritten that it almost feels like you're interrupting an intimate moment by reading them. Move on, people!
Sorry ass. Treffer ikke helt. Flere 4*-låter her, men ikke nok.
viel bekanntes, aber trotz experimenten immer noch beatles.
Honestly, I understand why The Beatles were highly acclaimed. Honestly there's not a song on here that's bad, and they're all so bite sized. There's more to their music than their singles and if I can be honest, I think Ringo is an extremely underrated drummer. It's not the "I'm going to amaze you with skill" kinda way, but the creativity and the uniqueness to his drumming is what stands out. It's never just a "simple beat"
typical Beatles album, Eleanor Rigby is one of my all time favorites
If you are a fan of the beatles, I'm sure you'll love this album. It's good old fashioned rock and roll. I saved one song to my playlist 'Here, there and everywhere'. Idk, I liked Abbey Road a bit more.
Classic
Elinor Rigby, Yellow Submarine and Taxman is the only ones i remember from this album. Beatles is more than just a band, they were a cultural phenomenon but that doesn't make every song a masterpiece and this album really shows that.
Is it incredibly influential? Yes. Do I enjoy listening to Beatles music? Not really.
Great songwriters but I always preferred the Stones to the Beatles. I do like Revolver over many of their other albums though
It's OK. Quite simple in lots of ways – innocent almost. Eleanor Rigby's a bonus; Submarine isn't. I'm really not a big Beatles fan and tend to find their albums have a bit too much filler. This is OK
This is decent, 3/5. Beatles definitely have some hits, but I'm not totally enamored by them. But they're good.
3.4 - mmmmm, want more tbh
Nice and short. Mostly focused, but more on that later. Actually some good cuts on here. I enjoyed "Here, There And Everywhere," "For No One" and "She Said She Said" quite a bit, the latter particularly for its drumming. "Yellow Submarine" takes this from a 4 to a 3. What were they thinking? Just seems like a jokey outtake given the rest of the record.
Pretty much in line with the Beatles; some great songs, some stinkers that made you wonder why beatlemania was a thing, and the rest ok. 3/5
3 stars only because ive heard this way too many times from Daniela
Docking it a point for playing around too much with left/right audio. I usually listen with one earbud, and my new music service doesn't allow me to set it to mono. It was jarring. Other than that, the music was really good on this one, and I don't really like the Beatles much. Elanor Rigby is the favorite here.
Hey Beatles, I know how great you are. Everything you do is just terrific. The problem isn't you-- it's me. I just don't feel anything.
Yet another weird album from the Beatles, with some great melodies and guitar parts, but also some strange, and straight-up unenjoyable bits. Yellow Submarine is shit. Overall won’t listen again.
This grew on my, fav is Eleanor Rigby
For many of these nostalgic albums I’m at a give and take of memory versus objectivity. When I was 13, this was hot shit, but in 2025 it has substantially cooled off. Rating: 3.5
It was fine.
Most tracks were very familiar from hearing them on the radio, the tracks that I'd never heard sounded very similar. Great music, but nothing surprising.
Some hits and some misses. Its the Beatles, not much else to say.
I've never hated the Beatles, but I'm not a big fan, either. They are good, but I don't quite understand Beatlemania. Revolver feels very transitional. They still have a lot of their boy-band roots, but there are hints of what they will become when they transition to Sgt. Pepper, which is especially evident with Tomorrow Never Knows. I will always hate Yellow Submarine. I don't care what anyone else thinks.
Pet fav songs: Love to Young; Tomorrow Never Knows I tried really hard in high school to get into the Beatles because all the popular kids were listening to them like they discovered something no one knew about. This was also the days of The Beatles Anthology (1995). I bought the companion album and listened in earnest. I've not gone further than that. The Beatles are fine.
Going to probably disagree with a lot of people but despite rhythm obvious high off Eleanor Rigby and Taxman it's a perfectly nice album with nothing really catching my ear or standing out (not counting Ringo's song). Second half certainly does little.
Another day, another mid Beatles album
The Beatles occupy a decent amount of space on this project, and I believe it's deserved. That said, "Revolver" is probably one of my less favorite (or most mid, if I'm being generous) albums of theirs on this project. I kind of perceive this album as the borderline between and intersection of their British invasion style to their genre and art defying style; that is not a huge leap, as you can hear it in the music, but looking at the the chronological order of their discography also supports this. All of this to say, it's The Beatles. And The Beatles were always good and always noteworthy. But my preferred Beatles came right after this, through the end of their career as a group. This is definitely a 3.-something, but I don't think it's quite a 4 for me.
Not for me
First time appreciation/ listen to the Beatles. I was surprised by how much I liked this “old“ music. The album kicks off with a tremendous selection of songs. Loved Taxman, Eleanor Rigby and I’m only sleeping. But the record could not sustain my enthusiasm. Some songs felt not very interesting and the soundscapes are very similar to one another too. But I’m looking forward to listening to more of their albums!
One of my lesser listened Beatles albums. Respecting the fact that, at the time, Revolver introduced some revolutionary and controversial elements to pop music. But, with the power of retrospect it sits low in the ranks of Beatles albums for me. Not to say that it is bad, I think it is a great album. But I find it a halfway house from the early pop earworms to my preferable fully conseptualized albums of Sgt P and the White album. Some good songs, but none that are my absolute favorites, and an album that meanders at times without a focus.
Didn't really feel like their best work. A good album, but they have made better.
Wanted to hate it but some songs were actually good . Would have been 4 stars but Yellow Submarine is god awful.
Ive never really been much of a Beatles fan, and I think this journey is teaching me that I also won't likely become a Beatles fan anytime soon. At best it's fine, and at worst it's boring Standouts Eleanor Rigby 3/5
It's an album alright.. They did a lot of cool stuff here which is what bumps the score up for me but I can't say the songs themselves had me all that impressed. Some cool lyrics and good overall theme sure but, personally, that doesn't carry an entire album.
Sure... I guess... But is this really a Beatles album I need to listen too?
Obviously it's the Beatles, they're good. I didn't find this very interesting as a full-album experience.
Revolver! I've listened to this album before, so I don't need to enact the mandatory two-listen policy. Glad to finally be cut a break. I have somewhat of a history with this album. I first listened to it around 4 years ago as the second album in my Beatles odyssey. I didn't like it and my effort at getting into their discography ended prematurely with this album. I also used to really dislike this album cover for whatever reason, though I've recently come around to it. It's quite good. This is where the Beatles really clicked with a lot of listeners and established themselves as an innovative, critically acclaimed act. To be honest, I greatly prefer their previous venture with the tried and true, rock solid approach of Rubber Soul. There's a lot of experimentation with the sound of Revolver that I appreciate, but doesn't really appeal to me in any way. On the whole, this album is solid. There are no break out songs that really stand above the best of their later output, though Taxman and She Said She Said are songs that I return to on occasion. I won't lie - Love You To and Tomorrow Never Knows are polarisers. I do not understand that fascination that The Beatles had with Indian spirituality. Indian music is also a category of music that I'm confident will yield zero songs that I like should I ever explore it. I dread the six (?) Indian albums that are on this list. Every weekday I play a game of Indian roulette where the odds of the inevitable only get nearer. My current odds are 1 in 159, or a 0.6% chance of drawing a blank.
3/5
This album only strengthened my belief that you can best experience the Beatles through a Best Of compilation instead of the individual albums. On each album are one or two genius works of art while everything else is boring and forgettable.
Still not a Beatles fan, but this was actually pretty OK.
already heard
Liked this less than I expected - too much mess
Gutes album in der Beatles discog aber nicht soo besonders Und echt echt overrated ich find's nix erwähnenswertes vor allem in dieser Discog - Here, there and everywhere ist am besten
Not as good as Abbey Road. A few interesting tunes though.
THIS is my Valentine's Day gift? The most overrated band of all time? Come on, generator, I already haven't been laid in years, please be kinder to me. It's the best Beatles album I've heard so far, but other than some isolated moments, it's typical Beatles mediocrity.
It starts of really great the first two songs amazing even I know them at 17 years old that’s how good they are This is not my taste in music at all however I really enjoyed most of it the fourth and last few songs not so much but especially Good day sunshine Doctor Robert And of course Eleanor rigby Taxman And yellow submarine were truly amazing and very fun to listen to The album in itself also works really wel so wel that I listened 10 times to it today
J’attends Sgt. Pepper…
Hooked from the first notes Songs don’t outstay their welcome Experimental sounds British sound also Indian and Motown Favourite song: Eleanor Rigby
Does the list include every Beatles album ever written, honestly starting to wonder. We should just listen to them all in order then. That said, I'm not mad at this entry, it's a solid album of exploration. I don't really care for "Taxman" (especially as an opener) but "Eleanor Rigby" is a bonafide hit. I like the next two then it gets a little slow on "Here, There" before it picks up again. You can hear the innovation and they get top marks for creativity and variation here. "Tomorrow Never Knows" is probably one of the best album finales I can think of. Always loved the album art, a few meh songs in the middle, 3.35.
As much as I love The Beatles I think they are receiving too much attention on 1001. There is no doubt that they had the ability to crank out a multitude of solid 30 minute albums with a bunch of good songs and occasional smash hits. However, the continuous feed of Beatles and individual member albums is softening the impact of their entries. It's really hard to knock Revolver as it doesn't have many low points. However, after already hearing a bunch of Beatles stuff it doesn't stand out as much as it does in my memories. I think if a few of the prior entries were removed Revolver would be a reminder of how great their catalog is. Unfortunately, for this specific listen it sounded like just another Beatles album unfortunately. It's got a couple of great songs like Eleanor Rigby, but much of the middle/late parts of the album are relatively run of the mill. The Beatles have the ability to make solid albums seem pedestrian which is an incredible feat. Revolver is a great album and deserves to be discussed as so, but this listen was almost a victim of The Beatles overall success as it didn't move the needle for me as much as it might have if consumed as an independent listen. Credit to The Beatles where it's due but let's pump the brakes on putting every Beatles album on this list. Reluctant 3.48 stars may have to revisit
I know it's the Beatles and I should LOVE IT, but each song sounded too Poppy.
Got bored
Not very impressed. Apart from the 3 songs I already heard, the rest was very average at best.
Heard it before. I know it's regarded as one of Beatles's best albums (or even the best album) but... I will be real with you I never understood it. It might be where they started experimenting with different things but I don't vibe with it. It still has great songs though 3/5
