Reviews (page 13 of 14)
I guess I just don't get what all the hype is about.
More Beatles! I bet all of their albums are on here. Lucky for me I don't actually know how many albums they have. Could be 900 more for all I know. I used to like 'Eleanor Rigby', but it was the soundtrack for a presentation I did in college and I listened to it at least 50 times in the process of getting the timing right, so now I'm weary of it. I do like the song with the sitar in it, but the title ('Love You To') is mysterious and despite the mountains of Beatles lore, I can't find a definitive answer to what the heck it means. George >:( I like 'Good Day Sunshine'. That's a peppy little number. Same for 'And Your Bird Can Sing'. And 'Got to Get You into My Life' (there're horns!) The rest of the songs didn't captivate me, which is possibly just because I haven't heard them before (except 'Yellow Submarine', which I do like, but if I heard it 50 more times I doubt that I would). So I think this is my least favorite Beatles album of the ones we had so far, although it's still a solid album, just not my style (=short poppy bangers).
Started strong and then fell off for me. This feels like the transition album where they were learning how to fuse psychedelic sounds with pop songs and not quite getting there.
Some songs are catchy, but I think most of them are not that good. Also the quality of the recording is not that good.
It's fine I suppose. They're just so overrated. I feel like if I'd never heard of the Beatles I'd give this a 3. Tempted to go for 2 because they come so hyped that what would be a 3 in a vacuum is inevitably disappointing. But I'll be fair and stick with 3
I just don’t get the allure. Sure, some catchy tunes, but just not something I’d throw on, like, ever.
Incoherent. No real flow to the album, other than being a collection of some of the more famous Beatles songs.
fair bit of good music from the beatles
Taxman is almost unlistenable on headphones due to the weird stereo mix Eleanor Rigby is perhaps the best song ever written For No One: if someone asks you what the Beatles sound like, this is the song you should point them to 3.75
One of the best albums ever made!
The Beatles are...ok. I would never have an issue if one of their songs comes on, but I wouldn't choose to play it myself. Normally I'd rate that situation a 2, but they are the Beatles, I think their sound does warrant bumping up to a 3. And there are a few good songs on this album. Love You To has some nice Indian music influences (thank you George), Yellow Submarine is always a classic, and Good Day Sunshine almost feels like it could be a Queen song with Freddy Mercury singing. Best song: Yellow Submarine
I find it hard to listen a full album of the Beatles. But not bad at all
Some songs on this album that I love, but not everything Yellow Submarine fucking blows
It was ok
...
Apart from the two recognisable songs it was a bit of a washout
All this taught me is that I don’t actually know The Beatles. At all.
Honestly, i thought Revolver was pretty good. It didn't exactly do anything all too special or original but for the things it does do, it does them pretty well. I was never all too familiar with The Beatles discography but i have heard some covers of some of their songs prior to doing this project which include Eleanor Rigby (the Letters From The Fire cover to be specific) and i do like the song's original incarnation. The other songs here all managed to sound pretty good here too. I don't know if i can say much else about this album so I'll say it's a good album and my favorite Beatles album so far (Yes, even beating out Abbey Road). Best Song: Eleanor Rigby Worst Song: Love You To
why does he have analogue horror eyes beatles make good music wow
Intia-tilutuksen olisi minusta voinut jättää pois, Tomorrow never knowsia en siedä. Hieman hajanainen kokonaisuus? Toki hyviä popbiisejä edellä mainittuja lukuun ottamatta.
Vahva alku, vaikken vastustakaan 95% verotusta, mitä tulee tiettyihin ryhmiin. Eleanor Rigby on klisee ja sellaisenaan ainutlaatuinen saavutus.
Not my fav Beatles album
probably my least favourite Beatles album. i generally really enjoy Beatles, but this album didn’t really spark anything in me. i guess it’s ‘objectively’ one of their best, but i will always be more of a rubber soul/please please me kinda gal. was never a fan of their experimental phase
I've never understood the enduring popularity/love for the Beatles. Not terrible, not my jam.
It's the Beatles. Obviously they are fantastic. This is in the "later Beatles" side of the Beatles, which I prefer. Someone discovered psychedelics before writing and recording this. Probably Dr. Robert. Not my favorite album, but a good one nonetheless. Yellow Submarine is an absolute classic and is hands down the best song on the album. Eleanor Rigby is good too, but for different reasons. There are some great songs here, but the best stuff is the first half of the album. It sort of falls off on the second half, once Yellow Submarine ends. Definitely worth a listen.
A classic. Just wish Yellow Submarine wasn’t on it. Always enjoy listening to George Martin mixes and it always catches me by surprise to hear bass panned left in certain songs. I get the science behind it being sensible to keep bass straight down the middle, but sometimes it just works to pan, and sounds fun. Anyway, not the Beatles best, I’m giving it a 3 star
Not my favorite Beatles album.
Bueno, pero tienen mejores
At this stage in history, approximately four hundred years after Paul McCartney first picked up a mediaeval bass and plucked the first notes to Love Me Do the Beatles music has become like the Earth's background radiation: ubiquitous, only detectable with specialised equipment, and giving rise to small genetic mutations in fruit flies. Birds use their songs to navigate their way back to the north pole each year. The English have eighty different words to describe the feeling of listening to a Beatles song, whereas the Japanese only have seventeen. Is this the best album of all time? It's impossible to say. It has always been here and will always be here. It is as much a part of us as we are of it.
I would give it a six. Not too big on the Beatles.
Not a huge Beatles fan in general, but it was fine
In this review page you can find three groups: 1) Loves The Beatles, instantly gives them 5* 2) Hates The Beatles, instantly gives them 1* 3) Do not like The Beatles but concedes that Eleanor Rigby is a banger - rating varies between 2* and 4*
Preferred this to the last Beatles album I listened to Favourite songs: - Eleanor Rigby - I'm only sleeping - For no one - Got to get you into my life 3.5/5
Unfortunately one of the less exciting Beatles albums out there to me regarding recording techniques and experimentation, aside from unconventional hard panning of vocals and drums in the stereo field (although summing very well to mono). It does make for a more interesting headphone/stereo listening experience. Eleanor Rigby is the standout above the rest.
Is this the acid India trip album? A couple pretty big hits but overall didn’t really do anything for me. The songs in-between the hits were instantly forgettable and even a couple I debated skipping because they were simply unenjoyable to listen to. Makes me wonder if this album came out before they were global phenomenons would it have been as popular? A somewhat overhyped album that radiates with fart smeller aura. 6/10
3 stars because I respect the band. Prefer the Stones.
I said this about rubber soul but this more sounds like the album halfway between their old rock n roll sound and the more experimental stuff. It was okay, not many standout tracks (taxman probably the best) but then not many complete duffers as in the newer stuff. I don't really understand if yellow submarine is meant to be a good song or not, it sounds like monty python. So much of Beatles is mediocre songs being propped up by a handful of bangers. It's fine.
Not as bad as "Rubber Soul" but not their best
I enjoyed the variety of sounds the Beatles were able to craft, but on the flip side I think the sequencing could've been done better. Altogether an insanely creative album for the 60's.
It's a good album and I'm sure it was exceptional in 1966. I like "Taxman," "Eleanor Rigby," and "Got To Get You Into My Life." "Now my advice for those who die / Declare the pennies on your eyes" is a great line. Several songs on here I would skip, though.
meh
Not my favorite Beatles record, but really enjoyed how experimental it was.
Sacrilege, I know, but the Beatles are hit or miss for me, usually on the same album. Revolver is no exception.
There really is something about the way the Beatles phrase and sing lyrics that can make me go "oh I don't give a shit" the minute the vocals come in on so many of their songs. And TBH I think it's more Paul McCartney than anyone else. If there's ever an argument of throwing out any of your drug induced song ideas, "Yellow Submarine" would be it!
Singles are good, album tracks fairly forgettable, solid but not life changing.
Meh
Honestly? Yes I understand this album is a classic, but it’s not as good as I remember it. I think some of the production choices were questionable at best and annoying at worst. Again! Not saying I disliked this, just that I felt let down.
Overall not a bad album but it's a little repetitive at times.
Not really my thing
A few great tracks mixed into a half decent album. 3.5 stars.
I love Eleanor Rigby, but the rest of the album is not that great by Beatles standards.
Throughout different points in my life I have often wondered if the Beatles are famous because they are good, or because they managed to have an idea first. I frequently flip flop on my opinion, but this album pushes me toward the “first” side of that spectrum. The songs are pleasant to listen to, and some are catchy enough to remember and think about, but most of them I just listened to and didn’t think much more. I think not everything they wrote needs to be obsessively reviewed. Some songs can just be mediocre.
Ok but not their best
I have all but forgotten, drunk on the highs of 'Revolver's many classics, that the album is so instrumentally naked, and often irritatingly thin.
Got to get you into my life Eleanor rigby Tomorrow never knows
classics, but not my style
Highlights: Taxman, She Said She Said, Tomorrow Never Knows. The band clearly didn't give a shit about making a hit album at this point. They just wanted to make an album and not tour anymore. Fair. I respect that. Taxman feels like a portal is opening (if that was the goal, nailed it). Tracks like "I'm Only Sleeping" and "And Your Bird Can Sing" sound as if they were offcuts from Help! or Rubber Soul. George pushing himself to learn the sitar (and not appropriate the sound, which is a hard thing to pull off) was a critical component here. Hats off to you, George. I prefer Rubber Soul to Revolver, but I'm not going to deny how important Revolver is in music history. Revolver is noted for studio technology innovation, inspiring dozens of musicians and spawned new sub genres. Overall: 6/10
Not a fan of the Beatles. Still don't really get it
It's fine. Again, I recognise what a HUGE impact this album made, but listening to it for the first time in 2024... It's fine. Maybe now would be a good time to explain my ratings.... 1/5 - Actually unlistenable, brings out negative feelings 2/5 - Falls flat, definitely moments I genuinely don't enjoy. Would not listen to again. 3/5 - Would listen to again, but I'm not rummaging around for it. Definitely some nice moments but not getting me amped 4/5 - Genuinely a quality album. Will dig it out for repeat listens for sure. 5/5 - God tier. This rating is reserved for some ELITE shit
2,5
Good but not their best.
Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine are brilliant. The the album seems to be observations of life, which makes it a bit dull by default.
The Beatles don't really make bad music but that doesn't mean all of their music needs to be placed on an alter. This album has some great song, Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine, Got To Get You Into My Life, are all fantastic tracks that I will continue listening to. But ultimately, too much of this album is forgettable for how short it is.
Not a great Beatles album. Has none of my favs
A bit patchy in my mind... the standouts are Eleanor Rigby and Tomorrow never knows.... otherwise take it or leave it
She said was a nice new song for me along with my old favorite eleanor rigby but the rest is just good, nothing special
It feels like the vocals were somewhat better than Sgt Pepper, but the hits were fewer and further between. Mildly enjoyable.
Have been listening to this since it came out, not a bad track on here.u
Good, but not that good.
I recognised more of these than I expected. Pretty decent album overall
Overrated
I never really gave the Beatles a shot, it was the ultimate "Dad Rock" but this album is a winner. Starting with the lows: Yellow Submarine sounds like an awful children's song. Love You To has a Indian feel to it that I didn't need. Jay Z perfected that, leave it alone. Good stuff: Everything else. Taxman and Elenor Rigby would go into a playlist if they didn't clash so hard with the rest of my music, but maybe that will expand.
7/10
Not my favorite Beatles album but it's interesting seeing them push around the edges of the genre and start to branch out. Crazy how short their career was and how much they changed in that time
This was a good album. 'Eleanor Rigby' is the high note with a few other good songs supporting that. As always, The Beatles do a few silly songs too which aren't my favorite, but overall this was a good album.
Well produced, and a little all over the place genre wise. Some great poppy tracks, and some alternative cool stuff that maybe I'd appreciate more over time. I ended up adding three tracks to my library and liked another two more tracks. It's a well made album, just not really my thing. 3
Decent album for sure, but didn't hit home that well, still. I often find Beatles' songs too cheery, I think that's my main issue with them. Probably in some key that I don't fancy. 'Yellow Submarine' is an interesting song, but feels more of a lullaby than something I would seriously listen to. 'Fo No One' was a song I haven't heard before that I found to my liking, but other than that it was pretty beige.
Quite a few mega-hits on this one. I can't quite get into the Beatles like I did when I was young but this definitely has more appeal than a lot of their contemporaries.
This album isn’t as groundbreaking as I thought it was going to be. It’s actually quite mellow, even with the more upbeat sounding songs. This album wouldn’t have made me the fan I am today. I do enjoy the dueling earphone sound this album was recorded with. Meaning different sounds are coming from the left and right side. This isn’t their best album by far Choice Cut: Yellow Submarine
Good - Eleanor Rigby, Got to Get You Into My Life Meh - Yellow Submarine, Good Day Sunshine, Doctor Robert. Yes, it's in the Top 10 on here, but my word it's bang average.
Another Beatles album that I’m just not too crazy about. The songs all kind of blend together. It was enjoyable enough, but I probably won’t return to anything other than the hits. And I am the kind of goober that likes Yellow Submarine.
Oh yes. Sure we can be thankful for all of their innovations in such a short period of time and also sure there are timeless gems on this record like „Eleonor Rigby“ or „Tomorrow never knows“. But there‘s also so much trash like „Yellow Sibmarine“ and other carnival‘esk pieces That Made it always more than difficult to cherish the fab four.
Relisten
i liked it when i liked the beatles
beatles songs 8/10 times fall to the pop chorus formula if hook after hook with overlaying vocals. Most songs lack evolution which makes listening to their music boring imo. 2/10 times they make an actual song that evolves and becomes something interesting An album that if it were attached to the name other than "The Beatles" it would be completely forgotten. Never understood how lullabies like Yellow Submarine and Here Comes The Song are some of the most famous Beatle songs. Indicative of the brains of the average beatlemania victim Eleanor Rigby is great of course Tomorrow Never Knows actually sounds great with some great drumming from Ringo actual WTF changeup in sound and pace, did not expect Otherwise album is not very interesting IMO 5/10 on a good day
I’ve put off rating this because I feel conflicted. I can recognize that it’s an important and well-made album, but aside from “Eleanor Rigby,” “Love You To,” and “Tomorrow Never Knows,” it felt like it went in one ear and out the other. Maybe today just wasn’t the day for it. 3.5
Lots of HYPE, it’s not bad by any means. But let’s not go crazy. Not that great either. 3 fits.
3.5/5
Gave it a shot. I dislike the Beatles. I know they’re pioneering and all of that, but I don’t like the music. I think they’re annoying. Don’t really like what they stood for either. That being said, there were some cool moments on the record, like the texture of some songs. Yellow Submarine has a lot of background sounds and people talking to give imagery to the song. Other songs I don’t understand, like She Said She Said. Did not like a couple of songs. Standouts: Eleanor Rigby, I’m Only Sleeping, For No One.
The Beatles.
I bought this album some time in HS/college, and probably haven't listened to front to back in about 20 years Definitely not my favorite Beatles album, but the best part about the Beatles is that when you're not enjoying a song, they're generally not gonna drag it out for more than 2 and a half minutes. Favorite song: She Said She Said
It’s The Beatles and the music is good, but not their best stuff.
As an album this feels disjointed. Individually, there are songs I enjoy, but this feels more like a collection of singles than a cohesive listening experience. The transition from yellow submarine to She Said She Said highlights this. Not sure if there are other Beatles albums on this list, but it seems strange to pick this album as a must listen over Help! or Sgt. Pepper.
A couple chill tracks but I think the world would be just fine if yellow submarine had never been written
I’m going to say it: this is not the best Beatles album. There are so many good songs on here I listened to throughout my life. Hell, my daughters are named after Beatle’s songs/albums. But this album as a whole is plays like the Beatles were on a crapload of drugs. Probably because they WERE on a crapload of drugs. It’s a good album and I own it in several format, but as a whole concept it feels…at least to me… a jumble of ideas of a band trying to find itself individually and collectively. Taxman followed by Eleanor Rigby is a jump, then a bigger jump George’s Indian-influenced “I’m only Sleep” leading to two more songs and the ever so popular “Yellow Submarine”, which all culminate to a center theme: drugs. It lacks the poise and polish of Hard Days Night, the pop sensationalism of Please Please Me, the experimentation of Rubber Soul, the fun of Sgt. Peppers, or the personal resolution of Let It Be. It’s more of a placeholder. Again, just one guys opinion.
Sounds like early Beatles and late Beatles , must be semi early. Knew 2 songs from the album , heard lots of Paul
We’ve said goodbye to the beatles of old, say hello to the influence of fame and drugs kids! Paul is starting to test out all sorts of genres, John is starting to get a little pretentious, George is finding his sense of self in India, Ringo is letting the psychedelics manifest in yet another whimsical song about being underwater. After having not listened for a while, I notice how Eleanor Rigby and Got to Get You Into My Life are a precursor to some of Paul’s most ambitious Wings stuff, namely Band on the Run. But honestly this album has a lot of snoozers at least by late Beatles standards. Also is Tomorrow Never Knows the first DnB/breaks song ever??? :eyes:
Ok
if I have to listen to a Beatles album I guess this one isnt that bad.
could i write poetry to this? n
This would be a 4 star if Ringo didn’t sing.
The Beatles went to india
Not the biggest Beatles fan, but Tomorrow Never Knows is one of their best songs.
Ok al nis posebno, Yellow Submarine najgora pjesma od Beatlesa ikad.
I need to listen to it again, 3 stars is probably not high enough.
I understand the necessary merit awarded to this album for its revolutionary innovations during the time period. But after this recent full listen for the first time in possibly two decades, there is still very little in this album that enthuses me aside from some occasionally interesting sounds. Conceptually it has an inconsistent message and some of the weakest Beatles songwriting I have witnessed.
The stereo version is completely unlistenable. Find the mono version. Tomorrow Never Knows is the Beatles' best song. For No One is one of the better ones too. Taxman and Doctor Robert are skips. 3 seagulls out of 5 🕊️🕊️🕊️
It was an alright album, certainly some standout songs. But sometimes the Beatles get on my nerves
Surprisingly mediocre.
Revolver feels like it's caught between when the Beatles were purely putting out poppy, chart-topping singles and when they moved into cohesive, experimental masterpieces (Sgt Pepper's, Abbey Road.) They're trying different things (sitar, music playing backwards), but it doesn't hang together the way you know their music eventually will. I'm also not sure how much each song is less of a collective effort and the album suffers for it. Paul is schmaltzy as ever ('Here, There & Everywhere' is monumentally bad), and it feels like no one dials back John's angst & cynicism (does anyone like 'Doctor Robert'?). I had thought I liked this album more so it also might suffer from generally listening to Beatles in greatest hits form, where the mediocrity isn't as obvious.
Ok album. Not as good as Sgt. Peppers. I’ll listen to it again, though
Listened to these songs a million times. Kind of lost it’s luster
Oh good. Two Beatles albums back to back. I had a feeling this would happen. I wonder how many more times I'll encounter them during this project. I've heard Track 2 but I didn't know that's what it was called. Wow Track 4 is a no from me. Ah, Yellow Submarine is on this album. I know it's really famous, but I don't get it. Wait, is that HARMONY I hear on Track 12?? 3/5. I liked this a little better than the Beatles album I listened to yesterday, but not enough to give an extra star.
Keskihyvää Beatlesia. Parhaat: Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, Love You To
A couple great songs but overall the album is just okay.
Appreciate but not my taste.
Ups and d
It's the Beatles, you know what you are going to get. Lot of classics and some experimental stuff which I didn't enjoy as much.
Some great tunes, mostly quite outdated stuff though
bara ... klassísk,
It's easy to get sucked in by the popular consensus on an album and only see it as an unassailable monolith. Is it possible to separate the legend from the music? On its face, this album isn't really saying anything either emotively or literally. Any psychedelic insights it provides are obvious and accessible, which is probably why it flourished with the general public. It's a group of love-song writers throwing together some loose ideas. When people say you can't recreate the Beatles, or lament that there's no music like this today, it's because at it's core this isn't as striking or brilliant as it's made out to be - it was just one of the first to do it. It's One Direction for the 60s.
Taxman - 8/10 Eleanor Rigby - 9/10 I’m Only Sleeping - 8/10 Love You To - 8/10 Here,There and Everywhere- 8/10 Yellow Submarine - 10/10 She Said She Said - 8/10 Good Day Sunshine - 9/10 And Your Bird Can Sing - 8/10 For No One - 8/10 Doctor Robert - 7/10 I Want to Tell You - 7/10 Got To Get You Into My Life - 8/10 Tomorrow Never Knows - 8/10 TOTAL - 105/140
As far as Beatles albums go this one is pretty mid. It does have one of my favorite Beatles songs on it (Eleanor Rigby) but that isn't enough to bring the rating up higher than a 3.
The only Beatles album I can listen to in full.
Ein wenig zu viel sixtees. - aber mit Love you too, und Yellow Submarine!
Nostalgic but never a big Beatles fan
Paul McCartney writes such good songs… why let anyone else do it??
I just don't get it...
great first half dont care so much for the second half
Not my fav beetles
Some great songs, some weird-sounding sounds. Spotify took this and ran with an awesome mix afterward based on it though.
A classic to many. However, I'm not a huge Beatles fan. I clearly see their talent and why a lot of people idolize them; just not my thing.
You can’t fuck to this.
Fun album. Pretty varied ish. Not my favourite though.
I love Eleanor Rigby, Here There And Everywhere & For No One. Most of the other songs are alright. I can hear the potential of Got To Get You Into My Life. Too bad they didn't do more with it. Tomorrow Never Knows is too chaotic for my tastes
C'est un album des Beatles, je sais pas quoi dire de plus à ce point. 6/10
#49. Here comes that overrated band and their weird ass fans to talk them up like most of their music isn't weird or boring. 3/5: acceptable
Ok so, big admission here but I'm not a massive fan of the Beatles - I think they are just ok. I can totally see why they were hugely influential and made their mark on music - I'm just not convinced they are worth the hype (don't hat me!). While this album has a few good tracks it didn't land for me as a whole. It feels a bit disjointed, but still overall its pretty enjoyable. Fave track: Taxman
I have a weird relationship with The Beatles. I can appreciate that they were doing something special but it's never really spoken to me. This album is absolutely the one I have enjoyed the most. Songs like Tomorrow Never Knows feel thoroughly timeless. Totally immersive and properly enjoyable. That said, other songs are a bit doo-doo, dah-dah like their other stuff. So it just about escaped a 4 star rating from me. That said, it got closer than any other Beatles listen and that's really nice and new.
Not much of a Beatles head but this was pretty good. I'm sure they'd be thrilled with the endorsement
For a noted Beatles sceptic like me, this is good, excellent in places and masterfully crafted. It's just not my sort of thing, it doesn't inspire me, it doesn't lift me. I want to like them but I just meh them.
Not my cup of tea, there are songs that I like from Beatles, but the ones closer to experimental and harder rock, I don't tend to enjoy as much.
Minder dan verwacht
Al beter zuu!!
Has a few bops but less interesting songs too s I give it 3/5 stars. Favorites are Eleanor Rigby, here there and everywhere, good day sunshine and doctor Robert.
It's solid. Not my favorite Beatles album, but it is enjoyable and contains Eleanor Rigby, so I can't complain too much.
Cute but boring.
I think I have a strange relationship with the Beatles. I adore some tracks, and others do absolutely nothing for me. Maybe I just haven't listened to them enough for it to 'click' with me. Many of the tracks are less than 3 minutes long, they don't give much time to really get into them. 35 minutes is a short album, it might just take more repeated listens. I'm enjoying hearing more of the influence of Ravi Shankar and Hindustani music in some tracks like Love You To.
Personally I'm not a fan. I think that it didn't age really well especially the playing with left and right channels and cause of it I thought on multiple occasions that something was wrong with the sound or that my earphones were cutting out. But i can see it being amazing at the time of its release.
of course the first album i on this list is a Beatles album. This albums to me seems pretty solid with not really any stand outs. Yellow submarine is annoying idk. Don’t think these guys really knew how to pop their pussy. Probably liked it more than i would’ve if the Beatles weren’t such pop culture giants
Elenor R. is mint.
A few decent songs but pretty meh overall. I know the recording of it was a big breakthrough, but yeah, uninspiring. *** out of *****
~ TaxMan ~ Yellow Sumarine ***** Eleanor Rigby *****, just 2:06 ***** Tomorrow Never Knows
THE BRITS!!! oh the *agony* somehow, hearing yellow submarine gave me ptsd to music class i had over 10 years ago inoffensive album that can be considered timeless 3*
Beatles are boring, but it's an interesting album.
3. I absolutely cannot stand the song Yellow Submarine, but otherwise this is fine. I don't really get the hype surrounding the Beatles tbh.
Not bad. I can tell why this album had some hits, but it doesn't tickle my brain like my favorite modern bands.
This may be heresy, but I don't really love this album. Maybe it's just too transitional for me.
A few great hits, and a few forgettables
Always thought the Beatles were over rated but this is one of their better efforts. Diverse and some good tracks on it
good not great but good
It was good, just not that into the beatles
meh
The production in the more ambitious tracks is really messy but I think the ideas still came through. It feels like this is The Beatles in their stride.
Musically very varied and it really shows how they have been influential, but as an album itself I feel some of the songs seem unfinished, rushed
Some great songs, some pretty experimental songs, overall pretty good. Need to listen more to appreciate more I think. Favorites: Eleanor Rigby, Tomorrow Never Knows
It's fine. Nice mix of instrumentation, there are sevel well know hits on here, exceptional audio mastering (at least in the 2022 mix) and recording quality that sounds like it could have been recorded today. These are all relatively short tracks, with the longest clocking in at a whopping three minutes. I've never been particularly hot for the Beatles. I can't say for sure that I've ever listened to a full album from them, but this listen-through helps give me a better respect for them. Tomorrow Never Knows may be my favorite track. I like the 1st take version released on the super deluxe re-release even better—one might describe the sound as industrial Egyptian rock.
Great album. One i havent heard or thought of listening to in years.
Yay another Beatles album
Album featuring some very good songs, with Eleanor Rigby as a highlight. Would be a 4 star album but "Love you to" and "Tomorrow never knows" ruin it for me.
3/5, vert psychedelic but not suuuper marking, still a good album
Some great, some good and a few bad. It's a very well known and famous album that honestly doesn't live up to the hype that surrounds it. It would be ignored if it were released today.
Good to listen to after all these years
3/5 ja gostei mais
I was expecting to like this more as it has a lot of the Beatles songs I grew up loving, but as a whole the album was just ok. Still love Eleanor Rigby.
Elsker halvparten av låtene, hater resten:)
You know, I've never been into the Beatles much. All the same, I found myself enjoying it.
Exceptionally produced. As an album it’s a 3-3.75 for me, but the highs are high. Starts super strong, but I was not into the Indian inspiration songs.
Not my cup of tea but it’s clear how it catapulted the Beatles to fame and influenced pop and soft rock. Pretty good although I wouldn’t add any of the sonhs from this album to my playlists
6.25/10. Decent album. Probably not a top 3 Beatles album for me though. Transcendental druggy vibe, some good songs, Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine.
My goofy 10 year old ahh wanted to play the violin when we were choosing which instruments to play in 6th grade because of "Eleanor Rigby". I actually went into this album with no clue of what I wanted to give. I loved it as a wee lass, but re-listening to it with evolved ears convinced me otherwise. "Here, There and Everywhere" is my new favorite and "I'm Only Sleeping" is really freaking annoying and should be exterminated from the face of the Earth. This the first time I really want to give half a star. I kind of feel bad. I ended up playing the cello by the way.
While I recognize that the Beatles have had a profound impact on the music industry, I feel as if all of their music is sub-par. The mix on a lot of these songs bother me. 3/5. Favorite track: Yellow Submarine
The Beatles, zolang de citar niet mee doet, dikke prima
‘And your bird can sing’ vind ik een top-lied!
Not my favorite Beatles album, but I enjoy a few songs and don't dislike any. Enjoyable listen overall 6.5/10
I like it but many songs feel unfinished, especially Tomorrow Never Knows with its abrupt cut ending.
transitional album for them. Ok album for me. Eleanor Rigby 5 Stars
Yeah fine.
Beatles hurr durr.
Never been a huge Beatles fan. Album was good but not something I'll actively seek out, but if the songs appear on a playlist, that's cool.
Nice and recognizable
Final two songs saved it for me along with Eleanor Rigby. Rest of the album was pretty dissapointing
This one would have been 3.5 stars if it allowed that. Solid album with some good tracks but also has one of my least favorite Beatles songs, Yellow Submarine, so I'm going with 3 stars
Is this a children’s album? Sounds like it
Pas mal le coup du revolver au milieu.
Alors c'est ça l'élite de ton générateur Robert ?? T'as pas honte hein Robert ??
Best Song: Eleanor Rigby. The best lyrics on the album, but the star is the impeccable string section. Worst Song: Love You To. Overall creepy vibe whose only efforts at originality seem to come from using the sitar. Overall: This is, without a doubt, another Beatles album. There are a few gems in here, but also a whole lot of filler. I find it difficult not to assume a contrarian position, but surely this list doesn't need to include EVERY Beatles album. Is it not possible to have an assessment of popular music that doesn't treat the entire Beatles discography as gospel? It's been 50 years, I think we can admit as a society that some of their music is just okay.
Good Day Sunshine
Being My FIRST listen to Revolver, and the Beetles mean LESS to me than those who heard it NEW in its groundbreaking context. And I've never been a massive fan, so this felt like homework, and I am maybe critical, but I like 1001 Albums for being educative and horizon-expanding. I still appreciate their sound, vast influence, and stylistic journeys. and how this album is mentioned SO OFTEN as a landmark. So, I made myself listen to EVERY TRACK in full. without skipping. I felt like I should have incense burning and a velour bean bag, and bead curtain, lava lamp... its chill by todays standard, but also it's a messy, all-over-place album. could be Beach Boys for one of the tracks, brain dead kids music for amnother, trippy stuff, but reading reviews, I held out for a strong finish. mostly new songs for me. I LIKED She said, love to you, got to get you into my life (finally some energy) and and it turns out I knew and liked the last TRACK "Tomorrow never knows" BUT WHY IS IT SO SHORT AND UNFINISHED?- man if there was album of more like the last 2 tracks i might have loved it...., (DISLIKED yellow submarine. and your bird can sing.) and, songs don't finish, they just fade away... an historical style? So, in summary. a few really good original tracks that got me interested. I CAN'T GIVE IT MORE THAN 3.5 STARS in terms of liking it...but it finishes strongly.
Not the worst Beatles album. Not for me but highly influential.
It's a good album, but I never really liked the Indian spiritual direction they took around the time of this, so some tracks don't quite do it for me. Pretty damn good though all the same.
Kind of couldn't be arsed listening to it properly. Heard plenty of the beatles.
It's The Beatles!
Listened while working. Have to be in a specific mood to listen to this one. Love Eleanor Rigby, the other songs were okay/unmemorable compared to their hits.
What the fuck is with yellow submarine
ok, yea. sweet beatles songs
I mean it’s the Beatles, bit difficult to separate from their prestige or whatever. Tomorrow never knows is a fucking insane track. Must have fucking blown peoples minds in ‘66 and wouldn’t have Tame Impala and their colleagues without this song probably. This album does still have a lot of their earlier kinda jingle jangle stuff which isn’t my favourite of their sounds. I think it’s probably a 3 as an album, because while some tracks like Tomorrow Never Knows are proper headphone lie on the carpet listens, I can’t see myself ever saying I want to sit down and listen through this album.
Yellow submarine tanked this one, overall nice
Only finished listening to the whole album once. I like the album cover especially with the animation. I might write something to sound smart so by writing that sentence, I am more comfortable to be honest with myself. I only knew Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine, so those ones were what I enjoy most about the album. And I think I started to appreciate the Eleanor Rigby song more now. Love You Too and one other song (I dont remember which one) caught my ear and I enjoyed them too. But, I havent really remember most of the songs in the album. And like I said, I only listened it once. That being said, for the sake of this being the first album, and because I dont like to be seen as "not having a good taste" to not like The Beatles, I will give it a 3/5 stars.
An interesting album often referenced as their best. Personally I prefer the White Album.
прикольно
I can see how this would have been amazing in 1966 but was only alright for me.
Well, it's the Beatles. To me, this album was the definition of easy listening music. I enjoyed Elenor Rigby and I'm Only Sleeping, but (controversial opinion incoming) I found the rest of the album to be forgettable. Maybe I need to give it another listen?
Lilting, pre-psychedelia with some all-time classics. It's the Beatles - of course I was already familiar with several songs on this album but had never listened to it in it's entirety. The eastern-inspired instrumental arrangements on Love You To were a highlight. Tomorrow Never Knows is a fantastic closer and sounds well ahead of its time - no wonder really given the Chemical Brothers sampling of it in Setting Sun which didn't seem out of place in the 1990s.
And your bird can sing , here there and everywhere
I'm not as fair as Mr Wicks
3 So I think I’m a closeted Beatles fan. This feels especially apparent after having just listened to Beggar’s Banquet. In my mind the Rolling Stones Vs. Beatles argument is settled. I have actually heard Revolver before because Eleanor Rigby is one of my favorite songs. Like before I think this is a more front side album with it feeling kind of tired near the end. I definitely prefer the early career Beatles before they get overly psychedelic, which you can hear edging it’s way into this album. Sweet, Sad, and hooky enough for me to listen again. I think A Hard Day’s Night was stronger, but marginally.
So I feel like this album is a good Beatles album for me to listen to because I’m not familiar with the majority of the songs. The melodies are really beautiful especially in “I’m only sleeping”. Lyrically, I just don’t connect. Also, I think the mood of each song is so similar that the sad songs don’t seem so sad.
I don't know, beyond Elanor Rigby and the novelty of yellow submarine actually found this a bit boring. I get it was them trying out different sounds and deliberately being jarring. but to me listening now doesn't make me want to listen again.
Old old old...
My least disliked Beatles album. Has the best line of any Album though: she keeps her face in a jar by the door
feel good
Top 3 Songs: 1 - For No One (10) 2 - Eleanor Rigby (2) 3 - She Said She Said (7)
This is one of the many Beatles albums I never listened to, having grown up with the collections and then the White Album and Abbey Road (still two of my all-time-favourite albums). I'm sure it was an amazing step forward in its day, but if I just rate it for how much I liked it / how likely I am to want to listen to it again, 3.5 stars. Some great songs, some that just don't grab me. Maybe it's a familiarity problem?
Elenore Rigby is the best song on the album. Everything else is pretty okay.
This must be when they started to get weirder. This feels built out of random pieces. Some are straight forward, some are very odd, and Eleanor Rigby, which I'm finally hearing in context, and enjoy, is very out of place in the track order.
Some obvious good songs, but some that feels to me like they were throwing things at the wall to see what stuck.
The Beatles strength lied in their deep musical abilities and their willingness to experiment. This album is a result of hard work, dedication to craft, and skill. It's unfortunate that their fandom constrained them.
definitivamente não é o melhor de beatles
En oo koskaan oikeen syttynyt tästä. Suuri tason pudotus Rubber Soulista minun silmissä. Muutama erinomainen biisi toki.
Pretty good, last track is lit.
Can definitely see why people thought this was awesome the year before everything changed forever Solid 3
I’ve heard many people say this is their favorite Beatles album… and y can’t understand why, I mean the production is great and it is the album that features “I’m only sleeping”, “here there and everywhere” and “for no one” but damn, does anybody really like “love to you” or “dr Robert”? I don’t know it is really uneven, also, yellow submarine is cheesy and quite lame
The most toe-tapping Beatles album for me so far. Yellow Submarine remains my poster child for why I don't like the Beatles
One of the first Beatles albums I owned on CD myself - good album but nowhere near on the same level of their other later career releases. Fave tracks: "Taxman" "Doctor Robert" "Eleanor Rigby"
on their other world shit
Meh
I mean I get it, but I think I’m finally on the side of “The Beatles are overrated.” They absolutely made insane steps that changed the music industry forever, but you know I just don’t like them that much.
Most consistent album of theirs I've listened to, and a lot of good songs (Tomorrow Never Knows being great). Just misses out on 4 stars due to the vast majority being too short and simplistic verse/chorus/verse/chorus/finish.
They're more interesting than I had always given them credit for.
6/10
An intersectional Beatles LP - snippets of the past poppy and future psychedelic/rock-ripper directions all jumbled together in one album. Not the most cohesive product, but an interesting one at the very least
I like the Indian influence in the tracks. I didn’t know the Beatles were so talented with vocal arrangements, that’s a pleasant surprise. I hadn’t listened to them much before. It’s my favorite Beatles album I’ve heard.
Catchy, few noticeable songs
Top Picks: Here, There and Everywhere & Good Day Sunshine.
52. Revolver - The Beatles 14 tracks. I know it's almost musical blasphemy to not like this album but it's so overrated. Yellow Submarine is a joke & Eleanor Rigby is.... unusual rather than fantastic. Taxman is great but I honestly don't get the hype. What a let-down. 3/5
Got Abbey Road before this, so this record doesn’t leave as good an impression.
Levyn pisin kappale kesti tasan 3min! Ihan OK setti ja kuunteli helposti läpi.
Lilting, pre-psychedelia with some all-time classics. It's the Beatles - of course I was already familiar with several songs on this album but had never listened to it in it's entirety. The Beatles are far more experimental than I'd ever known. I love that, you never know what you're gonna get from each new track. Some really delightful turns in here. Everything coming in at 3 mins or under so if you don't like it you've got something new to taste very soon. It's an experimental tasting menu and as always there's a bit too much celeriac puree in everything. By that I mean I feel there are more misses than hits in here. Real good fun though. Absolute nutters these guys.
Ну наверно если марку съесть, то пойдет может быть не знаю
this was less shit than i thought it would be? i thoroughly dislike the beatles but this wasn’t a painful experience. still fucking hate those old men tho. weak 3
It was ok, its a beatles album. Lots of playing with stereo sound and mixing was weird. Kinda sameish feeling on every song.
not my absolute favourite of theirs, but of course iconic and absolutely loveable
Honestly, this is not my favorite Beatles album. I don't even think it's in my top three. It's always confused me as to why people like this one more than the other ones. It's got killer album art, I'll give it that, but I don't find it nearly as catchy, influential, or as captivating as other Beatles records. Highlights: 2, 3, and 6.
Nice
//Favs: Eleanor Rigby / Yellow Submarine Score: Strong 3 to Light 4
Hit or miss. Back half is better than front half (except for Elenore Rigby).
Hadn't ever listened to this one before- not my favourite Beatles album but still enjoyable!
gevarieerd album. Oosterse klanken hier en daar, en niet te heel erg psychedelisch, maar de sitar is er toch net te veel aan.
They play so well together, haha! Beetles have some amazing music. Good listen.
I can see how this was a predecessor to Sgt. Peppers—it shows experimentation but still has a cohesion that the later album lacks, in my opinion.
Tiene mucha fama, y algunas canciones la merecen, pero en general me parece muy flojo
Meh.
not the best Beatles album but still enjoyable
Nice relaxed Beatles album. Not too poppy.
Not my favourite Beatles album but Taxman is a track
Definitely a classic, and innovative for its time, but just not my style. I found some of the sound effects, arrangements, and sitar annoying at times.
Definitely recognized some songs, so enjoyed those. Not a fan in general though
Not the best the beatles
None of them do much for me except Eleanor Rigby
Not my favourite
one good song only, just one
Eh only 30 minutes but was hard to get through, I don’t deny their influence I just prefer their harder rock songs.
I am TRYING to like The Beatles, but I just don't. I kind of like Tomorrow Never Knows, but only because "Setting Sun" by the Chemical Brothers is the same basic beat, and I like it better.
Mein erstes Beatles Album…NAJA
Yaay, more white people music!
Surprisingly short songs but mostly forgettable
Meh
I listened to this album 1000 fucking times as a kid since my mom loved it but I truly have almost no attachment to it outside of childhood nostalgia. I find it better than most other Beatles albums but nothing they do has ever really grabbed me. Overall kind of boring and reminds me that the Beatles were just shitty shitty people.
I can hear how Revolver was a critical album in forming the sound that would be embodied by "Sgt Pepper" and "The White Album," but I still think the former has some of their worst songwriting (the obvious example being "Yellow Submarine"). It does have some good songs on it and does end strong, but I don't think it ever reaches anywhere near the heights that their later albums would.
abit messy for me icl
Some good songs, but a lot of what feels like filler for an album that’s only 30~ minutes.
Revolver is the kind of album you get used to after hearing it a bunch of times on the radio. I think its quite obvious that Eleanor Rigby is a banger Quite fond of I’m Only Sleeping and Here, There and Everywhere too. Yellow submarine was pretty fucking horrible.
I didn't like The Beatles, or at least not the majority of their discography, so this album was for me a really painful time.
That wasn't that good. A messy pile of discordant styles with some of their least impactful pop cuts thrown in. For how iconic this album art is I'm shocked at the drop in quality here. 2.4/5 -> 2/5
Just another gun.
i'll be honest the sitar stuff might be my favorite beatles idk i used to think that stuff was goofy now i'm kind of down
No agregaria ninguna a mi playlist
Not my style
whats so special?? the chord progs are not very pleasing maybe its the 60s? 2nd relisten: taxman is a 7.5 eleanor rigby is a 5.5 what was that indian song here there everywhere is a crazily mid song
Ni muy muy..ni tan tan
I'm sure if liked the Beatles, I would like this album. I like Eleanor Rigby...
Not that great
И в этом альбома не открыл для себя ничего интересного
eleanor rigby so good british classic i'm only sleeping is a good one love you to sounds so arabian and nice wtf yellow submarine and good day sunshine r classics i haven't heard in so long
