Lame
Not a huge fan. This album made me feel like I had just done a bunch of ketamine and was lying on the floor with a pounding headache after the come down. Some of the songs were fine, but I would need to be in a very specific state and mood to actively seek out this album or music off of it.
Not a fan. Really struggled to listen to this. It did not grab me at all and was sleepy sounding.
Literally just noise that is vaguely cool for about 5 seconds per 5 minute song. Sucks megacockalis.

I’ve delayed this long enough. The Friday album can be a tough sell. I know I won’t get another one til Monday, so if it appears to be a stinker sometimes it linger until Monday. When I get what appears to be an electronics album that played in malls in 1998? You best believe that puppy is still sitting pretty on Monday morn, 8 am sharp. French music. Allons-nous. La femme d’argent - Meh. I kind of thought this would be straight dance music, so the funky little organ solo is fun. There are certainly elements I can enjoy here, but the bones of the song have just bored me thus far. This is lame. Sexy Boy - Shawn Michaels theme? No. Oh god. It’s somehow worse than that. I wondered to myself how long it would take for me to get mad at this album. I somehow knew repetition was on the cards and by gum, here we are. This is like when your younger sibling keeps making the same noise on a road trip. I have rediscovered petulant, juvenile rage. All I Need - Whoa! Beth Hirsch!!! Household name. Wow. As I attempt to regain my composure after the shock of this electrifying celebrity cameo, I ponder the “artistic” movement of lame background music featuring female vocalists with heavy accents. Maybe it was fresh in 1998, but now? Pretty trite. Kelly Watch the Stars - Well. You heard them. Kelly? Get on it. We need to identify one new star by the end of this shit. Considering that it’s never ending, you may be exploring the cosmos for awhile. Talisman - Why are there weird spiritual emojis coming up when I write “Talisman”and I can’t get a decent walrus emoji? This is the problem with the world. Too much white, co-opted spirituality and not enough big beefed up walruses covered in tusk wounds. Another problem with the world? Bad electronic music meant to be played performative on expensive record players in in-fills in gentrified areas of major cities. Remember - Fuck you. You Make it Easy - BAM! Beth is back everybody! If you love mediocre singing and hearing the saliva separate from the top of a person’s mouth, you’re going to love the Hirschster. Not my favourite personally, but hey, something for everyone. Ce matin-lá - Quiet everybody, if we don’t make a noise, maybe they’ll make some foreground music. I’m dozing off. New Star in the Sky - Holy shit, Kelly came through. That is what we in the business call a “call back.” Oh sorry, I must have had voice to text on. I’m training my call centre on a new gravy based scam. We start the old folks home circuit this afternoon and it’s crunch time. You get em interested in the envelope gravy, get em all riled up and then BAM. Hang up. Give it 15 minutes, call em back. Works every time. Le voyage de Pénélope - “Penelope’s trip” for the uninitiated. Come along and ride with me on a shambolic voyage. I see a lot of French reviews on this website. I try to read them for practice and I do alright. I admire the French for their attitudes towards wage slavery, their love of the arts, and their general passion as a society. Even in my country, the Quebecois and Acadian populations are some of the last holdouts in an increasingly Americanized Canada. This album, however? C’est dégoûtant malheureusement. I thought they would have more songs that I would enjoy. Sexy Boy, which was also on the 10 Things I Hate About You sound track, was the only song I enjoyed.
Super well composed, I can see the art to it for staging "downtempo" music in the late 90s. Maybe it's just the space I'm in today, but it makes me personally want to bang my head on my desk? Weirdly gives me a headache? Listened twice while ~working~, does nothing for me, don't have the patience to return to it.
Do not like electronic music.
With the exception of the first track, this album is nearly indistinguishable from every other 90's electronic dance album on this list.
I think it's safe to say that ambient electronic music has no place in my record collection.

I did not like this. Recognised that one song from 10 Things I Hate About You, which is one of my favourite films of all time, but other than that, I don't think I find this particular type of 90s electronica enjoyable. Will not be listening again.

This album leans too much on being, what I think it wants to be, a chill sci-fi-soundtrack-like album. Unfortunately, it leans highly on that description to the point where it just sounds boring and has nothing noteworthy whatsoever. Whether it would be that weird vocoder stuff, the constant bleep-bloops (don't know about ya’ll but that’s what I heard, and Beth Hirsch’s honestly grating voice, I can't pinpoint what I exactly hate about this album. Although, I did like the orchestra part in "Tailsman", but other than potentially going for what it wants, I guess that’s all the positives.
