Reviews (page 5 of 14)
A classic, enjoyed this one. Have never listened to it start-to-finish before.
Full of bangers, but the album tracks, as usual, let it down a bit. But the bangers get it 4 stars as a minimum. I mean, c'mon...
probably closer to a 3.75/5, but since it //did// put me in a good mood..
It's a good album. I enjoyed listening to it.
music that makes you wanna danceeeee
It just keeps you wanting to dance. Fernando as a bonus track works like a charm after the instrumental. 4/5
sugar is sweet, music is fun
7/10
Legendary
fun album! some oddities but overall enjoyable
Power Bubble Gum? Fun, easy music, and I guess it's danceable. Still.
its abba! pls, should be consider cheating
This album appeared after my arrival to Europe for the first time. As a big ABBA listener, I have this a many of times but three of the albums they made after this one are better.
Enjoyable, but too much filler to be amazing
This album warms me up on a frigid day.
I love you ABBA please don’t kiss the teacher again. Also don’t let the guys sing
There's two types of people: people who like ABBA, and people who are lying when they say they don't like ABBA.
They are iconic for this
Overall, it's a good album. The songs I liked were "When I Kissed the Teacher," "Dum Dum Diddle," and "Why Did It Have to Be Me."
Cracking classy pop. Some absolute all time floor filling bangers here. Some of the bin hits veer towards cheesy euro pop but still a 4 from me
8/10
Solid ABBA album. Lots of their hits and some of my favorite songs. ABBA exists in a weird place for me where I really enjoy listening to them, and I like a lot of the songs, but I don't want to just encounter them in my liked songs playlist or whatever. I have to be in the mood for most ABBA.
I listened to the bonus track version, Fernando is in the same level as Dancing Queen. Both songs are top tier musicianship.
It's very good
I LOVE ABBA SO MUCH!!!!! It’s a good album and have many great songs, but i think there are better, but that’s just personal opinion
The hits were great and the rest of the album sounded like ABBA.
Solid 4, generally very nice moments, a couple nitpicks that keep it from being any higher, but overall enjoyable
Money Money Money, Dancing Queen and Fernando all on one album. They're craaaaazy. God I love pop music.
Fernando is the one of the best songs here, aside from Dancing Queen
If you don’t like ABBA, what are you doing. Dancing Queen, Money, Fernando and Happy Hawaii are great songs and enough to make this worthy of 4 stars. Production and live instruments were also good.
177/1089 I fear that ABBA (generally) are a group that fall into the category where their hits are HITS, but their deep cuts just don’t hit the same. And i don’t think the quality of their album tracks is really much lower, there’s just only so much smash-hit-ery any one artist can have. That said, Tiger is a SMASH. camp as hell, i love it. That’s Me was another that stood out Arrival was a nice instrumental/vocalised song. I like the way there is a more story-like narrative that flows through the songs Fernando also sounds better as part of the album imo faves: Tiger, Money x3, That’s Me, Dancing Queen (nothing comes close to Lay All Your Love On Me tbh that’s pure pop perfection) 71/100
My lifelong obsession with ABBA always triggers contemplation within me about what I love about music in general and why I always have time for a 70s-era Swedish pop band. Why do I have a blu-ray copy of “Mamma Mia” among my collection of Star Wars and Tarantino movies? Why was the most played CD I owned in college ABBA Gold? I don’t know. There’s a string that they can pull within me with almost every song. There is some kind of perfection to their music, where it’s both youthful and nostalgic at the same time, and covers all the emotions that life would trigger for those feelings. I’ll hear ABBA at my daughters wedding and go back to hearing it on an 8-track in my parents car.
Obviously very impressive this many notable songs came from one album
ALL ABBA IS A BOP
Even the bad ones are pretty good.
Pure disco bliss.
Fun, feel-good disco goodness. Fernando slaps, as the kids say.
Highs are HIGH, but many songs fell a little flat
This is a stunning album. Truly a snapshot in time of disco, pop and incredible song writing. Abba truly arrived on this one, and really stayed around with insanely timeless jams. Loved it!
Dancing Queen, Fernando, a couple songs that I'm familiar with were still great to hear again. So far the rest of the album feels almost like a dream. I like it.
So much glorious fun here! If listening to this record doesn't make you smile, you've got other problems going on.
A couple of unheard gems for me on this one....Tiger!
Dancing queen. 4/5
Solid listen, not my vibe but good
had me in the beginning, lost me in the middle, then had me again at the end. genuinely very fun & made me happy, but i think abba is a band i like to hear in small doses (playlist, radio, wedding, etc.) and not all together on a record. they are A Lot & the genre requires a lot of repetition but some songs (like knowing me, knowing you) would have benefited from variety imo. overall enjoyed greatly! old faves: dancing queen money money money new faves: my love, my life knowing me, knowing you arrival fernando most overstimulating (in a bad way): that’s me
I don't know what it is about ABBA, but there is something so incredibly charming about them. Every time I hear one of their songs I get immediately excited. This album has some of their best hits with tracks like Dancing Queen and Fernando, all absolute bangers. One could argue that the music is a bit corny, but I can't even bring myself to mind that. It's just so darn fun.
favorite track : fernando
faves: money money money thats me why did it have to be me
Very strong side one, but tails off a little on side 2. I think i prefer "The Visitors" over this. Strong four.
a classic, very upbeat and happy listen if u want to reminisce on a pleasant memory
4/5
12 songs•41 minutes Not bad a bit dated. The euro pop is strong with this one. 3.5/5
Not bad…. 4/5
I wasn’t a fan of the opener but started to enjoy it later on
Favorite tracks: Money Money Money, Knowing Me Knowing You, When I Kissed the Teacher Consider this my formal apology for thinking of ABBA as "that band that sings Dancing Queen." This album was great, and I will definitely be listening to many of these tracks again!
Incredible vocals and production, an IMPECCABLE pop album from the 70s that still holds up its playability in 2026. Even the songs that are not singles or well known bops are still so so good, making the album very consistent.
Love ABBA and Mamma Mia. My favorites are Why Did It Have to Be Me? and Fernando.
'Why Did It Have To Be Me' felt like it could have been a Fleetwood Mac song, probably my favorite besides the obvious hits. Maybe don't open up a groundbreaking album on 'When I Kissed The Teacher' but we're in a different teacher-kissing era nowadays, maybe it was a good idea then.
I love ABBA so great way to start it off. I enjoyed the classics like Fernando! I had just played that for myself a few weeks ago so funny this is the first album. I was a bit distracted while listening but the song Tiger stood out to me as a new fun song to add to the liked playlist.
Always great soothing music. Good album great pace and good sequence. I lossed a teacher didnt age well but the album does work
Not an ABBA fan but yet I know all of these songs.
Great album, some of the filler tracks were not as strong as I had hoped. But a very listenable album which I may well add to my collection and online store
I liked it alott
ABBA is always a bop
8.0/10
Done
Felt more like a Disney or musical album than I had expected, but ABBA's pop sound is pretty undeniably catchy. The lyrics on a couple tracks were borderline too cheesy, but taken at face value I think they achieved what they set out to do in making this album. Not my taste, but I am won over by how they can make me appreciate a genre or music I really don't care much for usually.
These guys are great. Some songs are 5 Stars and some are 2.5 but overall they are brilliant. 4.25 Stars
Is this great music? Probably not. Is this fun music? Absolutely! Sometimes that is enough. I don't think music needs give enough credit to joy.
I mean... no surprises here, right? It's not quite what I'd call a masterpiece, but it's ABBA... such talent and skill went into making everything they did, this was obviously going to be a strong pop offering, if a little cheesy at times.
i mean its a claaaaaassic. saved: when i kissed the teacher, dancing queen, dum dum diddle, why did it have to be me?, tiger, fernando.
Wow ABBA as the first album, thats not a bad start, and I have been avoidant about listening to them. So im looking forward to this already. This Album was great, it wasnt anything extraordinary, just good pop hits one after another. It was quite consistent throughout the whole Album, but it just isnt the quite creative for me to put it at 5 stars. It just lacks that something.
Switched up right when I was thinking it was one note. One note-ness makes it iconic and valid for a musical
Ok, I didn’t realize how much I like ABBA until now.
pop with a fabulous sheen
First Listen 78/100 When I Kissed the Teacher Dancing Queen ⭐ My Love, My Life Dum Dum Diddle ⭐ Knowing Me, Knowing You ⭐ Money, Money, Money ⭐ That’s Me Why Did It Have to Be Me? ⭐ Tiger⭐ Arrival Fernando ⭐ Happy Hawaii ⭐
Unerwartet langweilig
Listened during work. Enjoyed the vocals and the beats. Overall a solid album.
Super fun! Loved some of the album cuts. Always a good day when listening to abba
DANCING QUEEEEEEN! Some of these songs that I didn’t even know before slapped. Pop music rocks and will always rock and this is a great example of it doing just that. The Eurovision of it all def creeps through on some of these songs lol but it’s fun so oh well.
when i kissed the teacher- a great opening track i actually really like this (8.2) dancing queen- a classic don’t think this song will ever not make me happy (8.2) my love my life- almost gives queen vibes, very pretty sonically (8.5) dum dum diddle- weakest so far but still like it (7.5) knowing me, knowing you- i like how they all sound different but still together like it’s not getting repetitive (7.3) money, money, money- okay another classic that everyone knows popular for a reason it’s very catchy (8.4) that’s me- not my favorite but still so catchy, can kinda see sabrina’s influence from this (7.2) why did it have to be me?- wow such a different sound but i like it… (8.3) tiger- this sounds so familiar sonically especially that one sound… very interesting (7.1) arrival- wow a magical intro, i am actually ascending (9.3) fernando- i knew of this song but it being in stranger things really showed me that i really love this song its sooo good (9.3) happy hawaii- cute song definitely one of the weakest (7.0)
Great pop music. Helped by the fact that I knew all of the singles. 3.5/10
I mean it’s ABBA, who doesn’t love ABBA? An album filled with catchy songs filled with those 70s disco influences most notably in Dancing Queen (of course) and Tiger. My only critique of the album is the genre shifts drastically in some parts of the album especially in the switch between disco-influenced ‘Tiger’ then immediately into the Swedish-folk sound of ‘Arrival’. The album can at parts seem confused on what sound it wants to particularly achieve overall, but who cares? It’s. ABBA. All in all a great album that’s guaranteed to get you off your feet and onto that dancefloor. Favourite Song: Money, Money, Money or Tiger- both absolute bangers. Rating: 4/5
Vintage ABBA. Rich harmonies and just great pop songs. When they hit, they really do hit.
First time listen. Dancing Queen has almost 2 Billion listens on Spotify, wow! Good Album, 4.
7/10 solid album overall
Great pop album
only heard the obviously popular tracks off of this album (Dancing Queen, Money Money Money, etc) so this is relatively new listening for me. i'm only rating the original tracklist When I Kissed the Teacher - 3/5 Dancing Queen - 5/5 My Love, My Life - 4/5 Dum Dum Diddle - 3/5 Knowing Me, Knowing You - 4/5 Money, Money, Money - 5/5 That's Me - 4/5 Why Did It Have to Be Me - 2/5 Tiger - 4/5 Arrival - 3/5 Average score: 3.7/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this would usually be a 3.5 star album for me, but i enjoyed this enough to round up my score generously. it's decent 70s pop, and most of the tracks aged fairly well in my opinion
A classic.
LETS GOO
Overall Rating - 3.79/5 (7.58/10). Not my taste in music at all, but I am trying to rate these albums objectively and not let my personal tastes into it as much as possible. Very well executed, even though I don't care for Disco/70's Europop.
I liked this a lot. Some of the best songs ever written combined with a bit of pleasant enough filler. A very strong 4 to my ears.
I was only familiar with their mega hits before this. This was a fun listen! More varied than I'd had in mind going in
Basically a compliation of some of ABBA's best.
Every song felt great to listen to, really enjoyed it
General thoughts: Angelical yet terrenal, inocent yet brave, this is a gorgeous album. "Arrival"'s production is incredibly good, and the setlist is nicely selected. The opener, "When I Kissed the teacher", is a fast-paced teenage love song which effectively demonstrates the ABBA effect. Its like you get sent back in time, younger, fiercer. And suddenly you're a schoolgirl fancing over her first crush, fantasizing its anything other than impossible. It makes you wanna dance, defy nature, fell in love and fall out of it. It always makes you smile, irregardless of the lyrics. The vocals are insane of course, the female power duo of Frida-Agnetha shines in every song. The sound is like an early disco, labeled as Europop. The essence for me revolves around the synths and pianos, decorated with strident acoustic guitars, electrics and sometimes orchestral elements. The album closes with "Arrival", a nice instrumental ending that feels like the OST for a morning sunrise. A Majestic showcase of ABBA's great talent. Outstanding song(s): When I Kissed the teacher. Money, Money, Money. That's me. Weakest song(s): "Why Did It Have To Be Me". Rock & Roll vibe. Feels like taking a step down. Also the only song not sung by the female duo. Cover: Weirdly sweddish. Midly infurated it's not centered Real rating: 4.35
Damn it. So corny but so good - infectious. Beyond the obvious hits, that synth run in Dum Dum Diddle is a blessing.
I think it says a lot about the quality of song writing and the emotion in the performances that I can hear these familiar hits and I’m still not sick of them. Sure, there are still some Eurovision-quality songs in here (“Wish is was Dum Dum Diddle, your darling fiddle”) and there are few filer songs I think, but overall a record I’d be happy to stick on again.
Abba fucking rocks and that's really all I have to say about that. This album is pretty heavy on the hits. Dancing Queen, Knowing Me, Knowing You, and Fernando really stand out here with the rest really just being filler. Definitely a record I'd kill to have on my wall.
Omg Hits are good and there are quite a few of them
Oh, well, I knew I would like this, but I never thought I would really like that much this album. It's such an enjoyable and diverse album. Arrival is a great song, which discovered me Mike Oldfield's version is a cover. There are really funny songs, others that are also quite interesting... There's room for everything without losing the essence. I've liked a lot this album, truly.
ABBA in a lot of ways took up the mantle that the Beach Boys surrendered in the 60s - incredible pop songcraft, rich harmonies, and a certain naïveté that is both cheesy and endearing. This album announces ABBA’s “Arrival”, and of course includes their magnus opus “Dancing Queen.” But there’s fun light pop all over the place, and the entire record is an enchanting listen in the same vein as the Beach Boys “Today”. Great pop never gets old.
ABBA holds an intriguing space in my heart. My folks had ABBA’s Greatest Hits on vinyl when I was a child and I was obsessed with this thing. I must have spun it 100 times or more between the ages of 7 and 12. I ever after had a soft spot, but as greatest hit compilations grew in quality and scope, those remained the albums I would pick up on cassette, then CD. So I have curated a huge love for those songs. But then comes their albums. The hits remain killer, but the rest remains filler. I want to love it all the same, but they are the definition of hit and miss. I think this is a sweet album, and the hits are almost the best of the best. Still. Padded with filler. But I can’t go lower than 4.
Absolute classic. Nothing to add.
Well that was way better than anyone expected
Best Track - "Dancing Queen"
A-ha!!
Probably the most commercial ABBA album, even though it's not in my top 3. My main argument for this album was that the weakest songs (Tiger, Why Did It Have to Be Me?) weren't as egregious as other albums, but I think Super Trouper may have this one beat even in that sense. Dancing Queen is probably the greatest ABBA song even with its popularity, but I don't think the other big hits here are S-tier. I tend to gravitate more towards That's Me. Not a bad inclusion, but I'm wondering if the editors just forgot which album had Dancing Queen on it and then looked for that one.
I don't go crazy for this album, but it has so many classics, solid songwriting and even though it's not the most complex stuff, sometimes maybe bordering on corny, part of me likes the slight amount of corniness... so I'll give it 4 for now. Maybe I'll come back and change my mind...
Perfect bubblegum pop music. Enjoyed this more than I expected to
If you don’t know ABBA, they are 70s Europoo. If you only know them from greatest hits this album is better than some pop bands from the eras greatest hits. The start of their imperial albums, with enough early album experimentation
It's almost hard to hear some of these songs in the context of an album, rather than being crammed into every DJ set from your school reunion to your neice's 18th birthday - which, if nothing else, illustrates this music's enduring appeal. The flat, dry drum sound which swept through almost every genre in the 70s has always, to me, felt slightly jarring, but that aside the production, execution and enthusiasm is pretty much unparalleled. While this is, ultimately, not music I would choose to listen to the quality is apparent, and that is across the whole run-time, not just the wealth of hit singles here. ABBA truly exist in their own little world, it kind of makes them hard to fault - they just do ABBA, and they do it really well.
Containing all those eternal pop anthems ("Dancing Queen", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Money, Money, Money", "Fernando") I expected an easy four stars album. But the rest of the songs aren't my favour. 3,5
Damn those Swedes. They did it again!
I am somewhat shocked that every single track has a Wikipedia article about it. I guess that shows both how lasting the impression from this album has lasted. I can understand new albums by Taylor Swift being populated by her fanbase as the album is released, but something from the 70s? Wild. The first track was a bit weird, but I'll give it the old "it was a different time" pass. I like that they split out the hits instead of Side A being all the bangers and Side B being boring. Worth listening to, and reasonably fun, but I probably won't listen to it straight through again.
Great listen. I love pop music a lot so even though it’s not a favorite, i really enjoyed myself.
Definitely some bangers on this album! Such an easy album to groove to. Having never listened to ABBA much outside of their more well known songs, I can say that I get it now. Knowing Me, Knowing You, Tiger, Money, Money, Money, and Fernando were especially noticeable. Just fun songs that tell an interesting story. I will say the decision to start the album with "When I Kissed the Teacher" was an interesting selection. Sort of a weird concept for a song. Well written, but not something that would go over especially well in modern times. Overall a really great album! I'll probably be coming back to this one and exploring more of ABBA's catalog.
The Swedes are all right
4 stars just for dancing queen and money money money. Fernando was pretty great too.
enjoyed much more than i thought. so clean
Hard not to like this one. There's no substance at all to the lyrical content, but that's not why we're here. One could maybe argue that the performances lack some level of passion or authenticity, but this is impeccably constructed pop music. The arrangements and production are top notch, and it's hard to deny the catchy moments consistent throughout the whole album
Full of hits. Fun. First song a weird listen given my job.
Solid, balanced album
Some good tracks in here, but just an all right overall composition.
This one is rough to rate. I would probably give it a 3.5 if I could, because I really like the songs I like, and I really dislike the ones I don't like.
Feel a bit biased because Iknow some songs, but it was quite fresh compared to the other albums.
I mean… gotta give it to em
Knowing Me Knowing you is an incredible breakup song thats almost lost because of the way it is presented. This will always be the standout track for despite it being in the middle of a lot of Abba hits. That out the way now, this album is jam packed with the hits and you cannot dispute the fact that it is a fantastic album. I also quite liked Arrival It is quite astounding what this band was able to achieve and their songwriting abilities are often overlooked because of how how popular they were/are. I dont want to own the album, but it is always going to be 4 stars and I would listen to it again. 4 stars
This album was great. With headphones on I could hear the layers of instruments and vocals so clearly, and it helped me understand the vision of the band. Amazing selection of 70s pop rock, and as strong as ever on their fourth album. Out of 70s bands with four letter names, ABBA will always beat out KISS for talent, songwriting, and surprisingly, even Rocking! If ABBA had written 1998’s mismanaged anti-art album “Psycho Circus”, rock and roll might have never died. Next time you feel the urge to “rock n roll all night”… put on “Arrival” instead.
It is remarkable how good this album was. ABBA did such a strong job writing pop music that it is still featured on pop radio 50 years later.
The hits go so hard. The misses just drag the hype to a halt. Pop icons for a good reason though, and I doubt their success will fade for a very long time.
Fav: Dancing Queen Least Fav: Arrival ABBA are one of my favourite music groups period. Lots of nostalgic bangers from this album but unfortunately the popular ones are bigger than the rest for a reason (they’re a league above) which is a shame as I was hoping for a solid 5 but I’ll settle for a 4 instead. They could never make me hate you ABBA
1. Yet another artist I am much more familiar with, it’s always interesting to me that ABBA is actually Swedish since their vocals/lyrics have such clean English 2. I thought I’d know almost all the songs on this album, but I actually only seem to know about half 3. Looking at Spotify popularity/listens, Dancing Queen is actually the only Top 10 song (in fact #1 by a large margin) of theirs from this album, which also surprised me considering there are a couple other very popular ABBA songs on this album 4. Dancing Queen is still definitely my favorite song on this album and even of all their discography 5. Not as a negative to the album/ABBA, but the vibes and tones of the songs are very repetitive with barely any change-up it feels across all of the songs 6. Of the songs I don’t know on the album, I quite liked Tiger the most
Solid album, ABBA is catchy as hell. Few meh songs but above average
Brings back good memories and vibes. Album seems very pro-feminist which was cool.
a solid album, but it can be a bit uneven at times. there are two, maybe three great songs on here (one all-timer) but the album cuts are what make this a little bit more of a rocky road. with ABBA, of course, you're getting their iconic vocals and arrangements, which are a joy to listen to. the songwriting here is what makes this album a little bit of a teeter-totter. going from 'when i kissed the teacher' to 'dancing queen' is some of the greatest whiplash i've gotten in this project. that being said, it is extremely listenable and quite the opposite of a slog, even though the songwriting could be more.
Ist halt abba abet ballert schon
Guilty pleasure
Classic
Love me some Abba! Up until now I've only known the hits so it was fun to listen to a full album. This was a super fun listen filled with simple, catchy songs. Even the songs that weren't the big hits were enjoyable, which is something I can't say about every artist. Easy 4/5.
I mean, it’s ABBA. You either like it or hate it. If you really don’t have a clue about them, people would say they are disco but this isn’t it. I don’t know, maybe I don’t have any clue what disco sounds like but this to me is pop at its finest. I mean, Dancing Queen? Pfffft, top 25 song in anyone’s lifetime. The lyrics are just on the right side of not being cheesy. The vocals are strong and harmonized well. You want to tap your foot along to even a least challenging track like “Money, Money, Money” which I thought they were singing Monday, Monday, Monday. Go figure. Maybe this is still what disco is supposed to be, frig I don’t know. Choice cut: Dancing Queen
!!!!!!!!!!!AAAAAABBBBBBBBBBBAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪SVERIGEEEE🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁KOM IGEN ABBA!!🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁SPELA NÅGRA RIKTIGA DÄNGOR!!🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Ahaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I was puzzled by ABBA growing up - I saw commercials for their greatest hits albums on cable tv all the time but never heard their music on the radio or MTV and never heard anyone talk about them. I was kind of surprised they actually had albums and not just greatest hits compilations. This was great. But I can see why they have 9 albums and 13 greatest hits compilations.
Incredible. So catchy
Abba is one of my least favorite popular artists to hear. I usually don't like it when it's played at public gatherings or whatnot. This will be an interesting listen I'm almost angry how catchy this is
LOVE!! i love abba this was lovely to listen to and i neeeeeed to listen to more abba such good vibes
Pure pop. Thanks for the memories.
Good album so far. One generational banger in Dancing Queen and some solid jams throughout like Money, Money, Money & Fernando. This looks to be about 5 albums in for ABBA.. is it their best?!? Welp, closing out with Fernando and Happy Hawaii probably make it their best. I would have to do a lot more listening to know. Good bass guitar keeps things interesting.
It’s classic.
Solid album. Some classics on here and some weird ones (looking at you "Tiger")
Many of the these songs are so ubiquitous it's hard to be objective, the album tracks are a mixed bag. Glad I heard!
abb
Toppen album!
Lotta bops, couldn’t help but nod along with pure pop goodness. The subject matter Fernando, Hawaii, seem a notch off kilter and put through a Swedish filter. So good
Total Bop
Really cute and peppy. Very campy but I may feel this way because its moden day... but it may have been considered camp in the 70s too lol. Love their harmonies too.
Cheesy European disco trash but I somehow loved every minute.
I had Dancing Queen on my Hitclips (TM) back in like… shieeed, 2003? I thought that 30 second sound bit was the coolest thing ever. I think I also had a 30 second Avril Lavigne clip? Sooo yeah, I guess you could call me kind of a music nerd. Anyway, it is iconic. I hear a lot of music fanatics hate on this, but I can’t help and wonder if that’s bc it’s very pop and woman lead? I’m just saying… anyway, I like that they switched wives/husbands. I bet it was all so amazing and then all so dramatic to be in ABBA.
3.5/5
the kings and queens of Europop, I mostly just listen to the hits if I’m craving abba. This is as a good release all around, even if the teacher stuff is a little dated.
Amazing vibes
So ABBA was always more of a singles band than an album band to me, so despite knowing like a million of their songs I never actually listened to an album in full. I kinda assumed it was the Queen case of albums having 1-2 massive hits on them and the rest of the songs kinda just being there to fill the time. But this album is actually quite well rounded and consistent. Firstly tho, why does it start with a song about kissing the teacher? And secondly, why is the song such a banger? The singles are awesome of course and the deeper cuts are also kinda bops. Even the slower ballad My Love, My Life is quite solid. The outro (the title track, dont get fooled by the streaming version having 2 extra songs) has this real sense of being an album closer and is very cool and unusual for the band. Very nice surprise.
First song got me tapping my feet. I liked that the song did not sound the same the whole time but towards the end things switched up and I loved it. Dancing queen is obviously iconic. A common theme with the songs is how theyre super uplifting. And the women’s vocals woooow. In track three thats all I could pay attention to. I was completely enchanted by their voices. Oh and now track four Dum Dum Diddle SO FUN!! Bopping my head to Knowing Me, Knowing You. The guitarr AHHHH. Makes me wanna run through the streets. Money, Money, Money also iconic. And relatable. I liked the outro too! What an enjoyable listening experience.
Good Vibes from the past
ABBA's reputation is built on superb vocals, unforgettable melodies, and expert production. Their greatest hits, compiled on "Gold," are undeniably fantastic. But after listening to the studio album "Arrival" for the first time, I was curious: is there more to ABBA than their chart-toppers? The non-singles on "Arrival" were a mixed bag. "When I Kissed The Teacher," despite its questionable lyrics, is a solid pop song. "My Love, My Life" is a beautifully performed ballad. I wanted to dislike "Dum Dum Diddle" for its silly nonsense, but its annoyingly catchy chorus got stuck in my head all day—it's surprisingly charming. "That's Me" is another good pop song elevated by the incredible harmonies of Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. "Why Did It Have to Be Me?" is a straight-up rock 'n' roll number that's incredibly catchy and sneaks up on you. It's Ok. The best non-single track, however, is "Tiger." The album's final track, the instrumental "Arrival," was a pleasant surprise with its Celtic feel. Unsurprisingly, the singles "Dancing Queen," "Money, Money, Money," and especially "Knowing Me, Knowing You" are the highlights. The album's standout track is undoubtedly "Knowing Me, Knowing You." It's a truly majestic pop song—a "sad banger" that masterfully blends a brilliant melody and production with a heartbreakingly honest portrayal of a breakup. It marked a crucial evolution in their song-writing. I remember buying the 7-inch single back in 1977 from Woolworths in Stoke Newington (London), along with The Stranglers' "Peaches/Go Buddy Go." "Knowing Me, Knowing You" was still coming down from its number-one spot on the charts at the time." "Arrival" was a good listen. Four stars. Side one 1 "When I Kissed the Teacher" (3/5) 2 "Dancing Queen" (5/5) 3 "My Love, My Life" (4/5) 4 "Dum Dum Diddle" (4/5) 5 "Knowing Me, Knowing You" (5/5) Side two 1 "Money, Money, Money" (5/5) 2 "That's Me" (3/5) 3 "Why Did It Have to Be Me?" (3/5) 4 "Tiger" (4/5) 5 "Arrival" (instrumental) (3/5) Total - 39 Average - 3.9 116/1001 61/116 albums reviewed were new to me.
This was so good my first time listening to a ABBA album
Great memories - Famcing Queen, Money Money Money, knowing Me Knowing You, Fernando !!!! Wow I never heard the album but the album tracks did not disappoint! Well crafted danceable pop from the mid-70s! 4 stars
hap0py music! only feel like it's five stars if im in a party mood. otherwise, good! iconic! fernando >>
4.1
There was something in the air that night, the stars were bright, Fernando. Low 4.
7/10 Favorite: Dancing Queen
Happy birthday to me! This is like a big cake with maybe a little too much raspberry filling and the frosting turns your tongue blue, but who cares.
My wife loved it. I can see why.
Typisch Abba geluid, leuke synths, weinig bijzondere texten.
Yah there’s a reason that ABBA is one of the greatest bands of all time and why they are so popular. Their hooks are catchy, their harmonies are spotless and angelic, the songwriting is clever and witty, and the music is poppy and bubbly. Honestly I understand if this isn’t for you, it’s not my favorite but I like it, but you have to appreciate the level of perfection in their songs. It’s music that we would share with intergalactic beings cause it’s so objectively wholesome and like-able. One of the greatest pop bands ever with an album chalk full of hits.
Awesome
Pretty happy go lucky tunes. I can see why they were such a force in the 70s
This is one of those albums I enjoy, but probably not on full blast on the radio. I dunno but there’s something about a grown ass man playing Dancing Queen in his car by himself that feels… weird. Not that I care that much. ABBA always made fun music; a little cheesy enough to balance itself between pop and disco, never going too far to one end. Certainly not for everybody, but if you’re carefree and shameless (like me), you’ll enjoy it. Favorite track: Dancing Queen (don’t judge me) Other hits: Dum Dum Diddle, My Love,My Life, Money,Money,Money, That’s Me, Knowing Me,Knowing You
Dancing Queen is one of the great pop choruses. You know about half of these songs by heart, and the other half you potentially could too. Very good for what it is.
This was a lot of fun. Dancing Queen, Money Money Money and Fernando are all great songs. Other songs on the album kept the quality high and did not expect to like this throughout as much as I did. Helps that the three hits were spread out but still, solid all around.
Overall: 7/10 Before I get into it, I find it hilarious that they opened this album with "When I Kissed the Teacher". Abba are one of those groups that I can turn off my brain and just have some fun with some dumb songs. They don't blow me away with their lyricism or instrumentations but they know how to write a good tune you can dance to. There are lots of people in my life who fell in love with Abba thanks to the movie Mamma Mia, and I never really enjoyed that movie very much apart from the songs so I don't have a huge connection to them. Still, I enjoy the music and I think most people would as well. Fav Song: Money, Money, Money
Brilliant album with almost wall to wall hits.
A lot of this record is very of it's time and kinda cheesy, but at its best are some of the best pop songs ever made. Dancing Queen? Fernando? I'm glad I've come around and let myself enjoy just how good those songs are.
Ive never really considered myself an ABBA fan. Not that I don't like them, they are fine, they have some catchy big hits. But I guess this list makes fools of us all and maybe I just kinda like ABBA or maybe they are just so much better than a lot of the other stuff I've heard recently that they shine in contrast. At any rate this was an enjoyable album and whether I want to or not (I do) I will encounter a bunch of these songs again in my life just due to their sheer popularity and staying power. And somehow only 1 (one) of the tracks on here is in ABBA's top ten most played on Spotify Standouts Dancing Queen Knowing Me, Knowing You Money, Money, Money 4/5
Such a banger
Can't get away from it, so you might as well enjoy it.
Oricand e binevenit un cantec de ABBA!
Guilty pleasure, ngl. Subject matter is a little questionable, but i'm here for those sweet harmonies.
I liked this more than I thought I would - I think there is a tendency to dismiss ABBA as "boomer music" that is so vanilla that even everyone's most conservative relatives still like it, but when you actually listen to it I can really appreciate the songcraft and the meticulously layered production. Dancing Queen stands with its own place on the list of all-time great pop songs, but I really liked a few others I hadn't known before, like Tiger. Is it a bit cheesy/maudlin at times, sure, but not any more so that a lot of other pop that followed and was influenced by this. I had to look this up but the original closer on the album was the song Arrival - I found this a pretty stunning listen honestly, and looked up that the original title was "Ode to Dalecarlia" which is actually the province in Sweden where my family is from. I can hear the traditional fiddle music that my aunt got us into and I actually spent some time learning as a kid, which is pretty cool.
Great album. So much fun. Amazing music. It really takes you back and it aged well.
Classic
School choir days
Drunk mummy music
I like Abba so
I'm not an AꓭBA hater, but for me they are usually best in smaller doses. However, Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, Money Money Money, and Fernando are all standout songs. The rest of the album is pretty good too. I was a bit surprised how much I enjoyed listening. It is undeniable they wrote some amazingly catchy pop music.
It's hard to go wrong with an album that includes 4 of ABBA's biggest hits, but the album also features several interesting options beyond the group's recognizable pop hit including the folk instrumental title track.
# 🎧 In-Depth Review of ABBA's "Arrival": A Landmark in Pop Music History ## 📅 Album Overview and Context - **Release Date**: October 11, 1976 - **Label**: Polar Records - **Significance**: ABBA's fourth studio album, marking their transition from Eurovision winners to global pop superstars. It introduced their iconic mirrored "B" logo and is often regarded as their artistic and commercial breakthrough. ## 📝 Lyrics: Depth and Diversity The lyrics on *Arrival* explore a range of themes, from youthful exuberance to melancholic introspection. While some critics dismiss ABBA's lyrics as banal or simplistic, a closer look reveals nuanced storytelling and emotional depth. - **Nostalgia and Innocence**: Tracks like "When I Kissed The Teacher" capture teenage rebellion and infatuation, though the subject matter has been criticized as problematic by modern standards. Similarly, "Dancing Queen" celebrates youth and freedom, though some interpretations suggest a darker, more melancholic subtext about loneliness and unattainable dreams. - **Heartbreak and Longing**: "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and "My Love, My Life" delve into the pain of failed relationships, with the former often cited as one of pop's definitive breakup anthems. The lyrics here are poignant and universally relatable, showcasing ABBA's ability to blend sadness with irresistible melodies. - **Social Commentary**: "Money, Money, Money" offers a cynical take on class struggle and economic inequality, framed within a cabaret-style narrative. The song's protagonist dreams of escaping financial hardship, a theme that remains relevant today. - **Playfulness and Absurdity**: "Dum Dum Diddle" is often maligned for its nonsensical lyrics (e.g., a woman jealous of her lover's violin), but it exemplifies ABBA's willingness to embrace whimsy and eccentricity. ## 🎶 Music and Composition: A Fusion of Genres *Arrival* showcases ABBA's mastery of pop craftsmanship, blending disco, folk, rock, and classical influences into a cohesive and innovative sound. - **Disco and Dance**: "Dancing Queen" is the album's crown jewel, featuring a glittering piano intro, soaring vocals, and a rhythm inspired by George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby". Its structure is both sophisticated and accessible, making it a timeless dancefloor filler. - **Ballads and Drama**: "My Love, My Life" and "Knowing Me, Knowing You" are power ballads with lush string arrangements and vocal harmonies reminiscent of Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound". The latter's guitar riffs and melancholic chords add a rock-edge to the pop sensibility. - **Experimental Touches**: "Tiger" incorporates glam rock beats and paranoid lyrics about urban danger, while "Why Did It Have To Be Me?" channels Fats Domino-style blues-rock. The closing instrumental track, "Arrival," is a folk-inspired piece with ambient disco undertones, later covered by Mike Oldfield. - **Vocal Performances**: Agnetha and Frida's voices are used to perfection, whether intertwining in harmonic bliss (e.g., "Dancing Queen") or delivering solo performances full of emotion (e.g., Frida's dramatic turn in "Money, Money, Money"). ## 🎛️ Production: Polished and Pioneering The production on *Arrival* is a testament to the technical ingenuity of Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, aided by engineer Michael B. Tretow. - **The "ABBA Sound"**: Tretow's technique of slightly detuning instruments and layering vocals created a "rich, full sound" that was both pristine and uniquely textured. This approach is evident in the crystal-clear harmonies of "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and the dramatic dynamics of "Money, Money, Money." - **Instrumentation**: The album features a diverse palette, from the iconic piano glissando in "Dancing Queen" to the fiddle-like synths in "Dum Dum Diddle" and the orchestral swells in "My Love, My Life". - **Format and Mastering**: Early vinyl pressings were criticized for questionable mastering, but the 2020 reissue (part of *The Studio Albums* box set) is hailed as sonically superior. Streaming versions, however, suffer from compression and mid-range muddiness. ## 🧠 Themes: Joy and Melancholy *Arrival* is defined by its juxtaposition of upbeat music with introspective, often sad, themes. This duality is a hallmark of ABBA's work and resonates deeply with listeners. - **Nostalgia and Loss**: Many songs, like "Knowing Me, Knowing You," reflect on past relationships and missed opportunities, creating a sense of wistful nostalgia. - **Escapism**: Tracks like "Money, Money, Money" and "Happy Hawaii" explore fantasies of escaping financial or emotional struggles, though the outcomes are often ambiguous. - **Innocence vs. Experience**: "When I Kissed The Teacher" and "Dancing Queen" capture the innocence of youth, while "Tiger" and "That's Me" delve into darker, more mature themes of urban anxiety and self-identity. ## 🌍 Influence and Legacy *Arrival* solidified ABBA's status as pop innovators and influenced countless artists across genres. - **Commercial Impact**: The album was the best-selling record of 1977 in the UK and produced three global hits ("Dancing Queen," "Money, Money, Money," and "Knowing Me, Knowing You"). It also gave ABBA their only US #1 with "Dancing Queen". - **Artistic Legacy**: The album's blend of melancholy and melody inspired later acts like Madonna, Coldplay, and the Killers. Its production techniques are studied as benchmarks for pop craftsmanship. - **Cultural enduringness**: Songs like "Dancing Queen" remain staples at weddings and pride events, symbolizing joy and resilience. The album's themes of love and loss continue to resonate across generations. ## ✅ Pros and Cons ### Pros: 1. **Timeless Hits**: The album includes some of pop's most iconic songs, such as "Dancing Queen" and "Knowing Me, Knowing You," which remain culturally and musically relevant. 2. **Vocal Harmony**: Agnetha and Frida's voices are used to perfection, creating a "third voice" that is uniquely ABBA. 3. **Production Innovation**: The layered, slightly detuned sound pioneered by Tretow and Andersson set a new standard for pop production. 4. **Emotional Depth**: The album balances upbeat disco with poignant ballads, offering a rich emotional range. 5. **Genre Fusion**: ABBA seamlessly blends disco, rock, folk, and classical elements, creating a sound that is both diverse and cohesive. ### Cons: 1. **Lyrical Missteps**: Tracks like "Dum Dum Diddle" are criticized for their absurd lyrics, and even the band has expressed dissatisfaction with them. 2. **Inconsistent Tracklist**: The inclusion of "Happy Hawaii" (on some editions) is seen as unnecessary and disrupts the album's flow. 3. **Mastering Issues**: Early CD and vinyl reissues suffered from poor mastering, though this has been rectified in recent releases. 4. **Thematic Repetition**: Some critics argue that the album's themes of heartbreak and escapism become repetitive. ## 🎯 Conclusion *Arrival* is a masterpiece of pop music, showcasing ABBA at their creative and commercial peak. Its blend of infectious melodies, sophisticated production, and emotional depth has ensured its enduring legacy. While not without flaws, the album remains a benchmark for pop excellence and a testament to ABBA's unparalleled ability to fuse joy and melancholy into timeless art.
Solid album. Huge fan of the Dancing Queen and Money, Money, Money classics. Some of the slower tunes I’m not as interested in.
Good time innit
It's JUST a four, just about, maybe it's a three but there's a few big songs.
Abba is a guilty pleasure
Genieten
Some iconic bangers on here! Really enjoyed it, just can't give it a 5/5 because i wont listen to it again probably
Fernando- good song I found a new song called happy Hawaii… and I mean this album overall is good. It is iconic and yeah!
Good, feel good kind of music
It’s ABBA!
I'm surprised a song like "When I Kissed the Teacher" has 69M plays on Spotify, but I can't deny it slaps. I think I learned from this experience that I’m not a big enough fan of ABBA to like a whole album by them, but if you love ABBA, this is great!
wont listen often but sounds good
What a lovely visit to the lands of disco. How can you not love ABBA?
Adorei o album!
Dancing Queen is one of the greatest pop songs of all time, maybe THE greatest. Lots of other delights on this too. Gold.
The joy of hearing a new ABBA song is matched only by the joy of hearing one you’ve loved for as long as you can remember.
great, big ABBA fan
love a bit of classic rock
some proper bangers on here but i do have a soft spot for the lovely ladies (and lads)
It’s ABBA, what else can you say?
My deck has been over run with dancing queens.
I had a girlfriend who was really into ABBA and at that time, I couldn't get into it. But I enjoyed this, my music tastes are so different these days.
Excellent
ABBA never does any wrong.
OK now we're talking. At it's best – sublime. At its worst – strong compositions with astute arrangements that just happen to be a bit on the nose. But the sheer competency of the whole thing is remarkable. The bass throughout is very super tasteful, melodic and perfectly recorded – Dancing Queen of course is a standout in this way (and many other ways too obviously) Songs I thought of as throwaway on first listen are now firm favourites (When I Kissed the Teacher, Dum Dum Diddle, Tiger) There's such a sadness to many of the lyrics, and the stories. The absolute balls to be so deadly and epically serious lyrically, all set to the most joyous, candy-sculpted pop music.
Bangers galore
Quite good lots of classics
All listenable with some very good tracks.
Amazing classic
Great pop album, this one has lots of hits. Not necessarily in my wheelhouse but an extremely well done album.
Ah-ha! Probably the most perfect distillation of Abba until Alan Partridge and Rebecca thingy did their duet on Knowing Me, Knowing You. It's just a big old hit factory, and try as I might, it's hard to deny that. The songwriting quality is off the scale, even if it feels slightly daft to waste all that talent on silly pop songs like these. All in all though, a very good way to spend 33 minutes. Now let's never speak of this again.
ABBA spelled backwards is EPIC
Obviously amazing though on occasion veers into territory that is a bit too theatrical for my tastes (Money Money Money is worst offender for me) Fav song: Dancing Queen because it's easy lock for top 5 pop songs ever written maybe even top 3, but other than that I really liked Dum Dum Diddle
4/5
I thought this album was really fun. The band is tight. The energy in the room is palpable and James actually sings instead of screams which he seemed to do more in his later years. I wish I had been in the room. I bet it was a blast. I love when the mood is so well captured on an album.
This album is a great example of what ABBA was all about. Great lyrics, harmonies and catchy little songs that stay with you for a long time.
My Love, My Life → Ministerio de Salud Mental. Tiger → Secretaría de Innovación. When I Kissed the Teacher → Ministerio de Educación.
This hit different
It was good. Pure gold 70s pop…set a new standard.
Good vibes top to bottom
You know? ABBA is silly pop, but it's dang fun.
Classic Pop!
I think this is the first time I’ve ever listened to a full ABBA album despite liking the hits for years. Love the bangers on this, less keen on the album tracks.
Dancing. Queen.
Previously rated: The Visitors (4/5) ********************* Super 70s cheese here. Just look at some of the song titles (When I Kissed the Teacher, Dum Dum Diddle). But the songs are so catchy and it includes probably my favorite guilty pleasure song of all time, Dancing Queen. This could even be a 5/5 when I listen again. Favorite track (besides DQ): Tiger
Surprisingly diverse and fun. Some really solid tunes.
so fun
imagine being such a party pooper that you dislike ABBA
Pretty darn good
This album includes some classics everyone knows, enjoyed the album
4.5/5
Clássico
Pop. Quite good. The harmonies really make it enjoyable to listen to.
Legendary pop group. Money, Money, Money, Dencing Queen, Fernando are the classics of discotheques. But besides this, I did not find anything special about the whole album. Just out of respect for the group will give 4
For a very long time, I thought the lyrics to Dancing Queen were “You can dance, you can die, having the time of your life”
8/10
fun vibes, good songs
After 2 consecutive heavy metal albums this was always going to be a relief. Did enjoy it though.
I’m not one of those people that adore ABBA. I can appreciate them but I do sometimes find them overplayed. That being said, I still enjoyed this album. The hits are all bangers and Knowing Me, Knowing You is probably my favourite ABBA song so yeah, quality album.
This showcases everything ABBA do so well. “Dancing Queen” might just be the greatest pop song ever recorded, and “Knowing Me, Knowing You” (ah-haaa) is a fine example of the kind of ballideering that would culminate a few years later in the most devastating and heartbreaking of break-up songs. It’s not a perfect album: songs like “When I Kissed the Teacher” and “My Love, My Life” are a bit dull in comparison to the classics of their type. The latter, in particular, I can now only visualise as being sung by the ghost of Meryl Streep in “Mamma Mia 2”.
One of ABBA's best albums, so many memorable songs, incredible composition and mixing. Vocals are as ethereal as ever and the lyrics feel sentimental and joyful for some, and compile every emotion throughout.
What a treat! With fantastic harmonies, fun music, and great lyrics, you really cannot go wrong. Money, Money, Money sounds like a song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
I used to hate ABBA as a kid. My mom would play them all the time. Constantly. As a result, I have some minor childhood trauma associated with them. I used to think that they were "beneath" me and that only uncool people enjoy ABBA. I'd roll my eyes each time someone plays "Dancing Queen" or any other of their hits at a party. To me they were basic like Ikea furniture. I've been fortunate to have been able to move out of my parent's place and live away from them for nearly a decade. As a result, I've been able to come to terms with ABBA. They're not bad after all. But it has been a long process of rediscovery. My comparison with them and Ikea was unfair. They are not boring. Yes, ABBA is pop music. But it's good pop. There's a reason why they've been able to consistently top the charts throughout their career. They're all great musicians, singers and songwriters making fun music. "Fernando" and "Dancing Queen" are still absolute bangers! They've aged well in general. I'm still giving this a 4 because I've still heard them too many times as a kid. Some things I can't shake. But you bet your ass that I won't be frowning or rolling my eyes when I hear their songs being played at a party.
Great album. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Dancing Queen is a good song but not the best on the album.
Great album, enjoyable listen, really iconic ABBA sound.
Disco-alt soft rock, first song is a bit peculiar
3 albums in a row that actually makes sense being on this list?? Even though I am a Swede I don't listen to ABBA. I like and respect them but I wouldn't put them on ,but I wouldn't turn them off if it came on either. just not a ABBA fan. That being said, as my family often say, that this is music ahead of it's time and I agree for the most tracks. it's very well written, well composed, beautiful sung and iconic both musically and culturally (most people mention ABBA if i tell them I'm a swede...) Problem is i only remember "money, money, money ,"fernando" and "dancing queen". So that is why it is a personal 4, but this is something you should hear before you die at least.
Bland middle
It has some hits, some fillers, I think ultimately it's pretty good, but not extraordinary. Obviously, Dancing Queen and Money Money Money carry the album.
very good pop album
Great. Top quality pop.
Polished in every way, it shines like a waxed floor. Catchy writing, sophisticated arrangements. Maybe I'm a miserable git but it's all just a bit bright, shiny, and superficial for me :D A bit like ZZ Top, it lacks emotional and lyrical depth. There is some filler on this album - Dum Dum Diddle?
ABBA is without question always a delight.
Some really wonderful songs on this album. I will never get tired of Dancing Queen. ABBA is so important.
👸🏼
My love, my life super belle ballade.
A lot of hits here, but some filler those drag it down. Hard to hate in any case 4*
Excellent.
Random thoughts: * confession: I’m a big Mama Mia! fan. Both the movie and the stage show. So I was actually excited to listen to this one. * Obviously I was very familiar with about 4-5 of the songs and had never heard any of the rest before. I’ve always been a ABBA Greatest Hits listener. * However, as expected, all ABBA songs are basically the same song with just minor variations. So I found several of the “new” songs enjoyable. Especially, “When I Kissed The Teacher”, “Tiger”, and “Why Did It Have To Be Me?”. * Clearly “Arrival” should have been the opening track. Someone really messed it up by putting “Teacher” first. This album could have been a better album with a different track order. * Regardless of track ordering and similar sounding songs. This is peak ABBA with some of their classics like Dancing Queen and Fernando. However, “Knowing Me, Knowing You” is my favorite track here. You have to give this a listen and you are soulless if this doesn’t move you literally or figuratively.
Mamma Mia was my intro to ABBA and I loved that one. Some of my favorites are in this album- Money Money Money, Fernando, Dancing Queen… just fun pop, very dated.
ABBA in 1976 were incapable of making a bad song it would seem. pop music at its very best.
Good overall. Some great classic hits.
Dancing Queen is a classic, 10/10 vibes from childhood. Ballads have ethereal vocals, upbeat songs have driving beats that make you want to dance, and harmonies are always on point.
Obviously know abba… never listened to this album full through. Bangers for days. Such fun upbeat music, I can’t see why anyone doesn’t like them. Favorites: Money, Money, Money, why did it have to be me?, and Fernando Rating: 8/10
Highlight Song/s: My Love, My Life and Money, Money, Money This might possibly be the best Pop album ever.
Some great pop classics. 3.5.
There are some fantastic, feel-good classics on this album (Dancing Queen; Money, Money, Money). But there are also some songs that are just kinda meh - enough to bump this down to a solid 4.
Dancing Queen drove the Mother helicopter right into the capitol building
Several great songs. Can see how some later bands were influenced by their sound
Had the hits and some really comfy songs I never would have listened to. Great album, was very relaxing and fun. Love the hawaii song, had never heard it.
A third of the tracks are timeless classics, forever played pretty much everywhere but the other two-thirds are pretty much uninteresting filler that I doubt anybody who isn't doing this project has heard more than once or twice.
Beautiful album. Amazing production and songwriting. I’m never going to seek out ABBA but I was perfectly happy to listen to this album in its entirety.
Lærere burde ikke kysses. Mesterlig mix. Basslinja på moneymoneymoney er sick. Selve tittelsporet var lame og grusom. Hvorfor sitter de i et helikopter? De kan umulig ha helikopterlappen.
Has some undeniable hits on this album. Some I had never even heard of. Not perfect from start to finish, but long lasting impact
Love me some ABBA
Very good
ABBA is such an occasional fun listen. Glad it popped today.
