Banger!

Not my usual thing, but it’s fun and short (hey, maybe it is like me!) Favourite track: More Than A Feeling

Nice solos with a great vibe. "More Than a Felling" is a classic.

Helt ok Boston!

What a song to start with, it's really pretty much impossible to keep up the level - especially when making unwise prog excursions Kudos to Boston for using clapping as a legit part of the drum kit

fun classic rock. I've come to see this music as a trope and do not know how to rate it. Feels like I need more context.

I like a lot of it but there are too many effects over the top. Some good guitar playing and catchy songs but there are just some production choices I don’t like. Some real tunes though, even if they have been overplayed. Fav song: More Than a Feeling Least fav: Hitch a Ride

Not sure the organ was super necessary and sometimes I think they went a bit over the top with all the guitar but there were a lot of moments I really enjoyed and More Than A Feeling is such an iconic song. Favourite song: More Than A Feeling Least: Foreplay/Long Time

Couple of good songs and a good listen

Great album, dit not change my life

7/10 - Got some bangers. No real weakspots on the album, the first three songs go hard. Fav Tracks: Foreplay / Long Time, Peace of Mind, More Than a Feeling Heard before? ---–- ✅ Saved a Song? ----- ✅ Saved Album? --–-- ✅ Will Listen Again? -- ❌

Smoky van with dragons fighting aliens on the side. Tight t shirt and long hair, long moustaches, long beards. Apex American mid 70s rock with what sounds like 28 guitars racing for the sky, a lead singer whose bell bottoms are so tight, and giant hooks. Gotta admit despite having heard all these songs on KGON in the 80s way too many times, still sounded pretty good.

Pre Listen: I get this band confused with Journey sometimes. I've heard this album before on many occasions, Boston's songs have unfortunately been included in every single classic-rock radio station or default rock playlist since their debut. Due this this, I feel their songs have been overplayed to the point where any merit they held individually has sort of worn out their welcome. Despite that I'll do my best to scrub my brain of every time I've heard their songs in a public space or on a long car ride, and keep an open mind. Notable Tracks: More Than a Feeling - Yup, that's More Than a Feeling alright. Despite my best efforts it's just a song I've heard 100s of times. It has merit as a real classic, but man I wish it wasn't included on everything. Peace of Mind - Yup, that's Peace of Mind alright. Yup. Foreplay/Long Time - Would be my favorite track, if it cut off right around the 2:30 minute mark. Certainly the most unique sounding track on the album in my opinion, until the aforementioned point, where it loses it's identity, and picks up the same sound as most other songs on this album. The acoustic bits in this track are great as well, I wish they let them shine more. Post Listen: In the time between listening to this album and uploading this review, a time period of ~18 hours, I went and got some groceries and got a haircut. While getting a haircut, "More Than a Feeling" came on over the ceiling speakers. I can't make this shit up. This album is solid. The instrument work is solid, the vocals are solid, the mixing is solid, it's a very clean album. The problem may be that it's too solid..? There's nothing in it that really sticks out to me, neither inherently amazing, nor abhorrent. It's the musical equivalent to that one B+ kid you knew in high school, who was really nice, decently smart, but painfully average. You wish them all the best, but ultimately don't keep up with them after you graduate. 3/5

its boston

It’s fine. It’s like a 3. I really don’t have much to say about it. There are a few strong tracks and I read about the influence of classical music on this album and did notice some parts with classical instrumentals that I did enjoy, but the album just felt fine as a whole. I don’t see myself listening to more than like two tracks from this ever again.

Non offensive 70s soft rock, bit samey with banger 'More than a Feeling'. 3 stars

As great as this album is, I never had much of an urge to put it on. Coincidentally though, I just became a dad last week, so I figured this would be a grand opportunity to test out the dad rock on my new found tiresome lifestyle. Turns out, it had no effect.. Maybe I'm not the father.

gasa assai in certi momenti

More Than a Feeling //

I liked Peace of Mind, I didn't know that's what the song was before it played. I've heard a lot of these tracks but the artist and song title were never connected. This seems like some pretty decent "run of the mill" mid '70s radio pop rock that fills the air well and doesn't overstay its welcome.

Was fully prepared that this would be an album with 'More Than a Feeling', which for the record I really don't like, as well as a load of filler. While it didn't blow me away it was a lot better than that, and 'Foreplay/Long Time' was by far the standout

Aun así, canciones como “More Than a Feeling” y “Peace of Mind” cargan el disco. Rating: 3/5 ⭐️

More Than A Feeling - Catchy, fun. A classic. Not much to say about this track. Can't really see myself revisiting it much soon. Peace of Mind - Interesting hook. I don't really like the vocals much. Feels very 80s in a way I don't like. I like the guitar and the bridge, but a lot of the vocals throw me off. Meh. Foreplay - Fun intro. I like the bass in the beginning. I also like the piano bit. The guitar coming in so aggressively kind of ruins it for me a bit. Damn this song is 7 minutes. I did not care for the other 5 minutes. Rock and Roll Band - Quick. nothing stood out. Smokin - I like the organ. Especially in the latter half of the song. I liked this more than the others. Hitch a Ride - I like the vocals in this. I did not really stop to write for the rest lol. Generally pretty simple. Not really my favorite, but still a little catchy. 6/10

The album was resoundingly ok, I just didn't connect with it.

I know this. It’s the song for when you see someone sexy. Ok I like this. Yeah I mean it’s a great song. However, you guessed it, average white 70s rock. Same as every other. But it’s vinery definitely. Ok it’s short though thank god. Yeah it’s good. Classic. Enjoyable. I do actually really like this album. Nothing particularly noteworthy though. Favrourite: More Than a Feeling Least favourite: Foreplay/Long Time

Fun! Easy listen and punchy intro song. Not spectacular to me but would not be upset to listen to again 3.5

Ooooo I do like these sounds!!! Very dopamine + nostalgic for me. Kinda feels 80s rather than 70s

dad rock with lovey dove songs and lyrics .solid 7.5/10

To be honest I only know one Boston song and that's the opening track of this album. So I never listened to this album before. Not a great album. Not a bad album. 3/5

Yeah, that's fun! I was expecting super lightweight pop rock. It kind of delivered that, but there's some substance and quality in the execution throughout too.

Cheesey as hell but the production of the remaster is outstanding.

Good production. Hate the singing. Soooo white. Would not recommend to a friend.

First three tracks remain incredible. Had hoped the rest of the album would grow on me. It hasn't. Standout track: Opening Trio 3.0

A good album, I liked More Than A Feeling, Peace Of Mind and Rock & Roll Band the most.

On mais pas très bien vieilli… 😁

Fun in small doses but starts to feel overly cheesy after a while.

Impeccably crafted trash. Kind of fun to listen to an album and know every song from the radio, but .... come on. I do enjoy listening to trashy 70s rock hits at times, and this reminded me that there are a number of songs I could add to my Super Seventies playlist, but ... again, that's an ironic / nostalgic activity, not a savoring of immortal classics.

I’m feeling the same as I did with the recent Fleetwood album. Hits were good, but nothing I couldn’t live without. What I didn’t know, don’t change my world.

Very solid.

The opener is a classic but I find the rest of it pretty forgettable. Rating: 3.1

I had this album in high school. My dad laughed at me. It’s cheesy, classic rock but catchy enough. No more than a 3.

Had heard the opener before. Didn't mind the music but not the singing so much

classic dad music, really liked Smokin' and Let Me Take You Home Tonight

Started strong, then metered out. No need to revisit as when you think about listening to Boston, Boston starts playing

I mean, two fist pumps way up. Perfect 70s rock. Not necessarily my entire thing but pretty good

Guardians of the Galaxy type of music, just good old upbeat rock – with a couple of deliciously surprising moments peppered in. It's the kind of music that keeps one going on long, warm summer night drives, but I wouldn't seek it out regularly.

Liked it overall. I’ll give it a 7.5/10

More than a feeling is a great opening track, but that’s about it in my opinion, the musicianship is great but it’s very generic for me and doesn’t stand out to some of its peers such as Pink Floyd or Queen who had very distinct voices in this era

Overall exactly what I expected but with enough little bits that made it interesting....

Si not my favorite genre

It's a decent album. Solid listening flow with tons of hits. Some of the songs ran together, I couldn't tell if I had hear them before or not. I didn't mind it though. Great driving music. "Hitch a Ride" and "Rock n Roll Music" were my favorites.

Enjoyable but just so basic. It’s a hit single then the rest is mostly the same. Everything about felt like it should’ve came off better than it did, but none of it felt like a revelation.

dad rock

1. More than a feeling: Temon, lo conocía, no sabía que era de esta banda y este album. 9/10 2. Peace of Mind: Buen tema, no lo conocía. 7/10 3. Foreplay/Long Time: Es como que cambia un poco el mood, me gusto pero no tanto. Normalito. 5,5/10 4. Rock & Roll Band: Sensaciones parecidas al anterior. No esta mal. 5,5/10 5. Smoking: Onda un poquito mas blusero, rock and blues. Me gusto un poquito más. 6,5/10 6. Me gusta 7/10. 7. Something About You: Este me gustó bastante más gran tema. 7,5/10 8. Let Me Take you home tonight: Gran balada, me gustó. Aprobado: 7/10

Buen album.

Godfathers of cheesy butt rock? Hasnt got better with age, hasnt got any worse either. A rousing meh all round

I guess I’m in my dad rock era…or I’ve opened my mind.

Mítica more than a feeling

Album #51, Boston, Boston ⭐⭐⭐ I tried to leave my rock snobbery at the door and, for the most part, it worked because I nearly enjoyed the hell out of this. It starts off so well. More Than a Feeling, despite being one of the most overplayed songs of all time, is perfect. It’s Monday morning, get-you-going music. I love the vocals and the huge guitars and those elongated notes that just ring out forever. Absolute banger. Same goes for Peace of Mind, and by the end of that I was properly pumped. But then Foreplay/Long Time goes on for a very long time and the momentum drops. The proggy organ excursions are all over this record and that’s probably the weakest part of it for me. The best thing on the album is the dual guitar sound. It really reminds me of my much beloved Thin Lizzy, and I’m an absolute sucker for that. Smokin' filled me with nostalgia as it is featured on GTA: San Andreas. The rest of the songs kind of range from good to shite. Rock & Roll Band is probably the worst offender, it genuinely sounds like stock rock music. The lyrics are super basic throughout, but it is a genuinely positive album, and I don’t listen to enough positive music, so it was a nice change of pace. I was also a bit shocked to find out that Brad Delp died by suicide. I never knew that, and it did take me aback. (Though I know he was not the lyricist). Not perfect, but at the end of the day this is a feel good album!

I think I’m just in a bad mood but this was really grating

I never really liked Boston, honestly. It could be that my impression of them is simply dulled by an insane amount of overexposure over the years, but I honestly don't remember ever having anything but a lukewarm response to these tracks. It's overall just a bit too anthemic and theatrical for my tastes. Also, the less said about the lyrics, the better. I'm less familiar with the second half of the album and that's not a surprise since it's an obvious step down. It's nothing offensively bad, though. It's an important album, especially because of what it did for the recording practices in the future. The way that this record sounds on a technical level is truly incredible for the time, and I will always appreciate that, but I doubt you'll ever see me giving it a listen outside of the radio sphere. Favourite track: Foreplay/Long Time

Not bad. Had a couple jams but not super interesting

1/8 bekannt 6,5/10 Beste Songs: more than a feeling, peace of mind, smokin‘

boston goated

I had always read about Queen liking Boston. Apart from that one song, I had never listened to Boston. Boston sounds like a lost early 70s Queen album.

Peak Guitar Hero.

Hørt på solsenga på Granka. Starter sterkt Med more than a feeling, og blir egentlig bare svakere og svakere.

Mye bra her, men også mye intetsigende proggreier.

Well I'm glad my first album is a rock band :D

Not a hair metal fan, but this is about as good as it gets Best Song: Rock & Roll Band Rating: 6.5/10 Stars: 3

This is a solid album. Good singer, great musicians, good compositions...but, not really my favourite kind of music. I guess it's probably the production (too "polished") or something.

Buenas guitarritas, rock superclasico.

Reminds me of Brad Kinnard and summers at the cottage when i was in university. for nostalgia, it's a 5, but based on the music, more of a 3.

Boston is a tough band for me. Because of politics they only put out this one album. It was great, no doubt, but it ... IDK. It represents a sort of ... well, because of all the circumstances around their contracts and all the BS, it kind of doesn't matter how good THIS one album was. It was, and sometimes is still, severely overplayed because is was all they ever did! So yeah, it IS great and all, but it is also by circumstance a one hit wonder and it makes the whole thing kind of a "yeah, that band that put out that one great album back in the day" but it kind of all stops right there. It is not that it is in any way a bad album, it is just ... I have heard it many many times and maybe it aged? Maybe not but ... Meh.

Would I play this with any regularity or listen to it actively? No. Would I play it while drinking light beers by a body of water in a lawn chair? Absolutely.

Huge well polished arena rock that tickles the slap but a wee bit samey

I can appreciate the playing, the hooks, and all that. But it's just too clean for me. I won't even begrudge it due to hearing More Than a Feeling way too many times. They get strangely praise-and-worship on the outro of Let Me Take You Home Tonight. It's good.

leuk maar niet geweldig

Great sound and vibes. Some bangers.

Yes, this album has some very recognisable hits. Yes, it’s hard not to sing along to them. But, it’s very, very tame and middle of the road. It’s getting a 3 from me because of the hits but it’s so inoffensive and bland that it is largely background noise.

Nice - pretty much what I'd expect if I asked AI to invent music by a band called Boston.

More Than a Feeling goes extremely hard. Other than that I can mostly take it or leave it outside of some fun moments. Let Me Take You Home tonight gives me the ick. Fav tracks: More Than a Feeling Saved a song: N RYM: N

Solid, but not my favorite Boston record.

some iconic songs, it was alright

more than a feeling: nice guitar riff; peace of mind: nice intro, catchy solo before verse 2; foreplay/long time: starts off kinda weird and psychedelic; rock & roll band: liked the chorus; something about you: liked the intro, kinda soft then leads into the hard guitar riff; let me take you home tonight: last chorus/outro very energetic overall: classic, upbeat 70s (hard) rock

É um álbum boomer? Certamente sim. More than a feeling é um clássico, mas adorei também as outras clássicas Peace of Mind, Foreplay/Long Time e Smokin'. 3,5/5.

Decent mor hair rock

I liked it, maybe the songs didnt compliment each other fully

Good album with some classic songs

Helt ok album men inget som stannar kvar hos mig, förutom More than a feeling då.

Good old MOR rock, with the obvious standout

Surprisingly good, but no place in my library

Not my fav but very good…I like it

IT'S THE SONG!!!! I love finding songs from memes in here and "More than a feeling" is *chef kiss*. I liked it but not too much. Sounds the classic rock and roll which it isn't bad just not my cup of tea. And just 8 songs? Hmmm...

👨‍🏫🎁♻️🐲🥧

More than a feeling - Não gostei muito da pegada. Rock & Roll band - Legalzinha. Diz sobre tocar musica. É bem vibes de guitar hero e uma coisa meio Greace (filme) Let me take you home tonight - Bem paradona. Foreplay/long Time - Não gostei. Hitch a ride - Paradona.

Extra star for nostalgia.

Unbelievable levels of cheese, but I kinda enjoyed it? There are some fantastic riffs in here too. I might even come back to it again, in which case I may have to, (quietly…) revise this rating up.

More than a feeling es el Hit.

Goddamn I pulled out the stanky leg move for this album, made me feel like I was young again.

Surprisingly smooth, this is your dad's dad rock. A fairly okay listen, nice background music, nothing mindblowingly spectacular.

Good vibe overall for the album, a few but hits but didn’t blow me away

Tom Scholz is clearly an enviable musician and popsmith. None of Boston's shortcomings — the unending cheesiness, the so-slick-you'll-slip production, and some eye-roll inducing cuts — are from a lack of trying. This is a record of extreme detail and consideration, and beneath the spectacle of songs like "More Than a Feeling" or "Foreplay / Long Time" is a genuine heart of power pop. A fine record.

Ta bueno. 7 puntos

It’s Boston by Boston and that’s what it sounds like.

Not half bad

Front loaded album Fave track: More Than a Feeling

This is pretty fine, the hits hit and it doesn’t overstay its welcome. 3.5/5

When I think of 70s radio rock, this is basically what comes to mind. That speaks both to its high quality and the fact it doesn't do anything unique enough to separate it from the pack. Still, the first side is the peak of AOR. The first two songs deserve their classic status, with massive hooks and a pristine sound. "Long Time" is also great, but its hook isn't quite as good. And that becomes a theme. "Rock and Roll" almost rips off "Piece of Mind," and the hooks get less interesting from there, which reveals something about those first two songs: the riffs and lyrics are kind of bland. And once the hooks disappear on the second side, that blandness becomes more obvious. The quality is still good, and it still sounds immaculate. But there are only so many songs about playing rock and roll and love one can listen to before craving something with a bit more substance.

Good stadium rock songs and starts strong with "More than a Feeling", but most of it feels like water-downed rock to me. Some of lyrics are quite meta - like telling the story of the band - which kind of takes me out of the song. Didn't really resonate with me, but fine.

Day 192 Solid but unspectacular. Highlights More than a feelin Peace of mind Smokin’

Cheesy as anything, but you'd have to be a bit of a curmudgeon not to recognize the catchiness of More Than a Feeling, and the others are inoffensive.

First revisit to this album in 23ish years, and maybe musical maturity is realizing that Hitch a Ride is the best song on the album. Don’t know why but I was getting Air Supply vibes if Air Supply tried to be a metal band. A bit cringey, but nevertheless a pretty strong good feelings album.

6/10 - not bad but opens up with its best song

This is so mediocre and on par for the genre

Definitely heard the opening track before "More Than a Feeling" from somewhere. Straight from the get go, I have to mention the energetic use of the guitars here with a ton of catchy riffs and solos used to create an uplifting atmosphere. The organ play in some of the songs added a nice touch. I liked the riff in "Something About You", that's about it. Haven't got much to say. Not really my type of subgenre in rock but somewhat enjoyable with the overall mood it sets. Decent album.

Nice classic, rock album.

Very familiar songs from classic rock radio. More Than a Feeling is a little over played, so I feel like that taints my opinion a little. It's all very accessible 70s rock, there's nothing wrong with it, but it just doesn't excite me more than some good catchy hooks.

This was one of my best friend’s favourite things and it’s amazing how cheesy it sounded, whereas now the sound has come and gone a few times. I never quite latched onto it but there was a lot to admire, plus I lived down the street from where it was recorded, so it’ll always hold a soft spot for me. It is just so unabashedly its own thing and it worked! Plus we got Nirvana out of the deal.

Rock music

Nice album, but I can't say it was surprising in any way. "More than a feeling" is one of my favourite songs, but listening to the whole album feels like listening to one big 38 minute track.

Great classic songs. A bit cheesy and not my style, but still undeniably fun.

Sometimes ‘70s power rock is what you need.

I mean they're good - it's not terrible - but it's not great let's be honest

Really good rock album

I can attest, just like everyone else in the late 70's, I was bewildered and mesmerized by Boston's melodic power guitars and boundless vocal range. Vying for production and arrangement virtuosity along with a band like Rush. But I didn't continue down that path as a kid (was preoccupied with ABBA) so I never listened to this record before. Of course it's pretty great, and it's fascinating I recognized one of the minor transition tracks ('Foreplay') from a cover by GWAR on the AV Club, which is phenomenal. Anyway, the background story of Tom Scholz is also legendary - he'd rather record the whole record mostly on his own in his own apartment studio instead of being cooped up in a studio in Hollywood.

Pretty solid

most iconic opening track ever like come on, sadly peaks on side 1 but it would be difficult to make better than long time, those soft falsetto high notes that happen like twice are to die for, started to zone it out near the end, the last three songs seemed to blend together for me. but i mean it was really good still, obviously, does get grating really fast but i appreciate it for what it is peak- long time, peace of mind, more than a feeling dull points- something about you, let me take you home

Not my usual style, but enjoyed nontheless!

Better than expected

MORE THAN A FEEELIIING

I mean, it’s quality and very listenable etc. but this and things like it often get held up as classic masterpieces when they are really fluff. We’re talking about a meticulously recorded and produced album of cheesy soft rock. I have no problem enjoying it for what it is, but let’s not pretend it’s something beyond that.

Yeh pretty good album. Great guitar sounds

Wow, "More Than a Feeling" is so iconic and euphoric. I love that song so so much! "Peace of Mind" is also really great and fun. after those first two I kinda just got bored :( I honestly wish I liked it more, sorries. it's just fine overall

Every Boston song I heard on classic rock radio growing up appears to be on this album, so it has that going for it.

Yeah sure whatever, but why are all of Boston’s album covers like UFO themed? Their music has nothing sci fi about it. Their name is literally just Boston

Stark 3a!

Så här ska power-arena-rock låta! More Than a Feeling är ju en jävla banger, men restan av albumet går inte av för hackor heller. Stark trea!

I mean this just be good solid ass rock, I know everyone else in my family would appreciate this more then me as someone who too isn’t into rock but yea.

This rocks very hard

fun but not my style

i liked animal farm

I liked it but somehow expected... more?

TWO SONGS i liked. therefore a 3. MORE THAN A FEELING MAKES ME WANT TO EXPLODE

Catchy middle of the road rock stuff. Enjoyable.

Enjoyed this and didn't realise how many of these songs I knew already. A great example of the classic rock genre.

so long song... 11 minutes... but I like This genre. More than a feelings IS my favorite, I have listened it before, I know it IS a tiktok force bat I Love it

Fun! Better than More Than A Feeling suggested, some rocking stuff, but no real standouts for me

I had a pretty good time with this, I like a rock organ (Foreplay/Long Time is so good holy shit) and More than a Feeling is an all-timer

Spacey rock, a lot of lyrics are extremely on the nose. Favourite track: Hitch A Ride

7.8/10

Curti. 3*

I like this one. Nothing super special. A couple bangers, 3 stars.

Not a band I've listened to other than hearing More Than a Feeling on the radio. Nice surprise, the guitars and sound of this album are great. The intro to Foreplay/Long Time is really enjoyable. Favorite tracks: Foreplay/Long Time, More Than a Feeling

I thought this would be breezy, fun, inoffensive dad rock with some real hooks throughout and that it most of it would immediately leave my brain the second it was over and I was right. Very fun though.

Interesting story around the production of the album and an end to end set of big bombastic and catchy tunes, everyone could have been a single. So an amazing debut album. I still didn’t really like it. It was like a rush you get from over processed food. You start off liking it then you feel flat, empty and a bit off colour Not my thing.

Has some bops. Understand the appeal for those who are fans of this genre. But not an album I would personally listen to again.

The band is not a style/genre I am typically drawn to (classic rock), so it was fun to branch out with this one. The bass really stands out to me. Also I dig the lyrics!! My favorite song was “Foreplay/Long Time” and I really connected lyrically to “Peace of Mind”.

Its good but not my vibe

The guitars really make this one.

When I was to start playing this album I've noticed More Than a Feeling was the opener and I was like "oh no". Don't get me wrong, this is a great song, but I've heard is so many times I was just tired of it. Turns out it might be the worst song on the entire album? The rest sound pretty fun & fresh and not only listening this album wasn't a chore, but I had fun with it.

I, of course, knew More Than a Feeling. Missing the history of the album, I'm not sure that I understood it's significance. Maybe, because it is so famous, the sound has become so generic, so quintessential to rock of the 1970s. I thought Foreplay was fun but overall, there was only one moment that I found my interest peaked by - the opening 30 seconds of Peace of Mind. This was by far my favorite song on the album and the only one I will save.

Great guitar play but not music for me… best song - let me take you home tonight

It’s more than just a feeling but still not a top of hard rock top álbuns

1. More Than a Feeling - i love this makes me feel like I'm in a movie montage of falling in love. the guitar is excellent. such a recognizable track 2. Peace of Mind - great message i feel like i can relate in bronx science 3. Foreplay/ Long Time - mentions chasing a dream i like it 4. Rock n Roll Band - i like but not as much, about their band 5. Smokin' - whatever instrument is in the background I love 6. Hitch a Ride - love 7. Something About You - cute and lovey song 8. Let me Take you Home Tonight - nice ending to album i think in conclusion more than a feeling carries this album and the rest of the songs are pretty similar but enjoyable i feel like i don't listen to this genre a lot so for now a 6.5/10 but I do like a lot

On first listen: fun album that I'd enjoy if it came on but quite samey and not really my style.

kinda mid, one popular song and the rest is typical 90's pop-rock

Listened to first son only

it commercial rock

The songs are overall enjoyable but, as for Tom Petty, debutting with this stuff in '76 (and few hundred miles from the CBGB) sounds sooo outadated...

Three are plenty of overplayed albums in this list, but I think this is the first one where literally every single song has been worn out by radio play. They are still great songs, if a little corny. I'm just not sure I need to hear any of them ever again.

meh, it's good, MORE THAN A FEELINGGGG

Buenas rolitas de la época!

As ridiculous and overblown as you would expect given the main track! I was surprised by the range of styles on the album, definitely detected some prog and blues rock.

Listening to this now, it's hard to imagine how groundbreaking this record was. I'd say that it really defined two trends that were just starting and really accelerated them. First, "Album Oriented Rock" or AOR. This was a new radio format where DJs were frequently playing random cuts off of albums other than the singles, or even playing entire album sides. The biggest Pink Floyd records fall into this category, but the mainstream Top 40 big hits weren't really on records that were AOR until around this time. Boston and Journey were two that jump immediately to mind. Second, "Arena Rock" which was the trend to having increasingly sophisticated studio recordings that were designed to translate well to a packed arena or stadium. The audience was becoming more sophisticated and expecting lights, pyrotechnics, and good sound, as well as music that sounded great in a big raucous crowd. This particular record delivered on both fronts. Right now, it's not that exciting of a listen to me personally, I listened to it way too much back in the day, but it's got some great songs, and it really defined a lot of bands for about a decade.

6.5/10, not moved

Fun fun fun!! So god energi, fede riffs, karismatisk vokal (a La Jimmy page fra Led Zeppelin, eller Axel Rose) 3.5 hvis muligt 🌟

overplayed and corny but not the worst

More than a Feeling— classic, good old school vibes from this one Peace of Mind— Really like the guitar breaks in this one Foreplay/Long Time— intro is very intense, sort of transitions into psychedelic vibe, reminds me of The Stone Roses transitions, once again great guitar breaks, again overall very Stone Roses vibe, enjoy this one!! Added to liked songs Rock & Roll Band— seems like their “theme song”/origin story, kinda seems like “cookie cutter” rock and roll song, eh doesn’t wow me Smokin’— seems like it would be in “Hairspray”, again nothing special to me Hitch a Ride— slower, quieter in beginning, nice change of pace, nice lyrics about escapism, could see myself playing this in car, added to liked songs Something About You— ok same sort of slow start then change of tempo and added drums as last song, I enjoy this, good yearning song to roleplay being a yearning 80s guy, add to liked songs Let Me Take You Home Tonight— eh not a fan doesn’t wow me as a closing song on the album Overall: 3/5

I liked the instruments but the songs themselves were a bit average. 3 stars No bad songs, only one recognisable hit but still wasn’t something I would put in a playlist, 3 for me too

The algorithm listened and did give me something at least a little better, and a short and sweet half an hour. Is it dad rock? Absolutely. Has it been overplayed on radio? God yes. Do I have a soft spot for Dad rock and really needed something else after the past few albums? Also yes. I've heard most of these songs way too much, but when they come on the radio I am always like "yeah I'll listen to this again" which is a good sign. As an album experience it is either nicely cohesive or slightly motonous depending on how you feel. Like the radiation levels at Chernobyl it's not great and not terrible, which is to say it probably is actually pretty bad but in the context I've heard it in it feels fine.

I knew one of their songs, really enjoyed the tunes and instruments

3.5 Stars

I liked half of the album, but that half was fantastic. The guitars and harmonies do it for me, and “More Than a Feelings” never gets old.

Fav track: peace of mind I’ve heard this album so many times throughout my life that it’s become a bit redundant. Nostalgic for sure, but this album doesn’t really resonate with my taste anymore.

Typical and fun but nothing special. Three above average songs the rest sound pretty similar to each other. Foreplay/Long time is unique and varied Smokin' is fun to listen to and puts me in a good mood Good guitar

Good vibes, upbeat, a couple of hits

7/10. favorite song: more than a feeling

I started this album and started to read and some how it felt longer than it actually is. Pretty good for that era of rock music.

This is arena rock done right. I still don't love it, but it hits different than other arena rock I've heard. It sounds the same, but marginally better. Favorites: More Than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, Let Me Take You Home Tonight

Ahh, I've been waiting to hear this one. For many a decade I've heard, mostly from Americans, that this is one of the greatest Rock albums of all time, flawless, a succession of hits, and one of the greatest all time debuts. Hopefully I'm not mixing these statements up with another album (such as this not actually being their debut), but you get the idea. Is it true, or is it US Boomer nostalgia. Given I only recognise the name of one of the songs - a great one granted - and given the US Boomer's odd predisposition for tight jean, sock stuffed, high-pitched love and pop songs (but with guitars) being associated with Rock, I can't say I'm fully onboard. But I want to be wrong. Truthfully, I was hoping to give this a four or maybe even a five given I am a Rock boy. But this feels more like Rock music for people who don't like Rock music. Sure it's dated now in the sense that it comes from a distant place and time which no longer exists, but it's also very twee. Boy band with guitars, no real emotion. The guitars are good but we've all heard better. And we've all heard better woven into better songs. More Than A Feeling remains a classic, but everything else is filler.

It was pretty good for the era it was from.

Guitar HEAVY (cool at times but also tedious), each song sounds the same, so big moments but also a lot of slog despite “big” sound

nothin' better than a buncha dudes jammin'. I'm sure my dad loves Boston. Not the city. But the band.

Enjoyable 70s rock n roll. Not revolutionary, but good dad rock.

Got bored after More Than a Feeling. All very formulaic classic rock. 1 if you don't like that style, 5 if you do, big fat middle of the road 3 for those ambivalent to middle of the road rock. Listen for a song and then move on.

It’s perfectly fine, but nothing I’d pick on purpose

Enjoyed. Uncomplicated, good riffs.

Stadium rock with some nice queenish harmonies. Liked that track that ended up being short and instrumental, what is it with this sort of band where any tracks that are slightly complex or interesting can't be full songs? Good at what they do but very typical for the genre, might be the exact combo to be a few people's favourite band but otherwise it's fine.

I dunno about this... It's all decent enough but Christ it gets old quick. I was fairly onboard for the first half but thoroughly bored by the end. Which is a shame, because more than a feeling is great. Think it has to be 3

# Playlist Track - More Than a Feeling # Notes - Other than the iconic opening track, the rest of the album is pretty bland. - Notable exception: the damn awful "Foreplay/Long Time" which drags a super boring prog intro for what feels like hours. - Kind of an interesting party album, maybe? Not bad, but not something I'll be revisiting over and over.

Groovy shit. I really enjoy me some good classic rock & this album is so iconic. Each song is a trip of it's own, with long, meaningful intros to songs, it's definitely a memorable album. The reason I'm rating it a 3/5 however is because while I know that this album is iconic, it's also nothing super special. I've heard a lot of classic rock bands sound similar, and Boston falls into that pool of bands that don't really stand out to me much when looking at other bands from the same period. Bangers though! It was very easy and fun to listen to and it's definitely going into my collection of albums I enjoy.

Enjoyed, but middle of the road & not sure I would go back to often. Good background music, and for the genre very good, but not my genre to begin with. Really liked the first half of Foreplay/Long Time, but specifically when there was no signing, just instrumental.

Pretty generic really.

Score: 8.4

Logan: 9.5/10 Aly: 7/10

Had some good hita

Didn't go as hard as I remember, but its kind of impossible not to like this one at least a little bit.

- More Than a Feeling, bellissima, 5/5 - Peace Of Mind, carina, 4/5 - Foreplay / Long Time, nella media, troppo lunga, 3/5 - Rock & Roll Band, carina, 4/5 - Smokin', carina, 3/5 - Hitch a Ride, non mi dice nulla, 2/5 - Something About You, nella media, orecchiabile, 3/5 - Let Me Take You Home Tonight, nella media, orecchiabile, 3/5 Indeciso su Hitch a Ride

Ok so this is rather cheesy and I somewhat lost interest in the second half but there were definitely some enjoyable tracks. *More Than a Feeling* has always been a song I liked and that lifts this to 3 stars alone.

Solid bops good bangers hell yea

This album was alright, although there were no standout songs for me personally.

more than a feeling

Not a fan.

Classic 70’s American rock. The lyrics of More than a feeling are simple but so good: about the start of a mundane day, a tune comes on the radio and instantly he’s transported back to a time that reminds him of a girl he once knew. I read that all the tracks were demos, which when you think this went on to sale 17 million is testament to the band’s talent and although not necessarily music I would go to I really respect that 🫡

first two songs are bangers at least

classic

Très middle of the road. More than a feeling est classique, Smokin’ pas si mal, mais c’est tellement générique.

I’ve heard the sound before but didn’t know it was Boston. I liked it

Every now and then I gotta indulge in some the most FILTHIEST classic rock and this manages to fill that urge. It's nothing crazy, but all I have to say is that junk food is good sometimes. Highlight Song/s: More Than a Feeling and Rock & Roll Band

It's fine. I listened to it. How many more times until it just becomes the background music for every single thing ever?

Look it starts with a bloody banger but it's a bit 80s cheese for me

Really enjoyable if slightly cheesy 80s rock. Twin guitar solos and big choruses are fantastic, not as big on the organs.

Alright

This is another example of such a classic album. It starts off with a series of rock bangers, songs that immediately feel like you should be cruising in an American v8, windows down, burning out of suburban stop signs for no reason. And yet, listening to it now, I think it's just not my thing. It's not hard enough, imo, to be true hard rock. And if I'm going to listen to stadium rock, I'd rather it be Queen.

I was all set to pan this album, but in good conscience I cannot. If it came out in 1986, I could write it off as bog-standard genre. But released in 1976, it feels kind of prophetic of the wave of hair metal to come. And despite a consistent lack of dynamics — the power chords, the screamy solos, the screamy vocals (outside of Foreplay), this record is fun. The power chords are tight. And despite their obvious conviction that their instruments are extensions of their dongs, they see to be somewhat in on the joke?

6/10… 70s Rock /*1976

More Than a Feeling is a classic. Solid power pop/rock. 3/5.

Cheesiest of classic rock

This is a tough rate. The album was surprisingly more enjoyable in a sitting than any of its individual songs, long exhausted by classic rock radio. 3/5

Great 70s rock

Good rock. 3,2

Apart from More Than a Feeling it's a bit FM meh

This was pretty cool, more than a feeling is peak asf 7/10

It's Ok, but far too cheesy to be one of the best albums ever.

page refreshed and deleted my shit so I'm not rewriting it. this album is an FBI psyop because I couldn't have named a single track on it prior to putting it on but somehow I know almost every song. it's catchy and inoffensive, and the folks in the band are clearly very talented (whoever is on the keyboard bodied eveybody else). they do what they do well but it's not my thing. also it's lowkey the same song x8 but at least it's a good song __ SCORE: 6/10 ADDED TO PLAYLIST: Smokin'

I always forget how quickly “More Than A Feeling” ramps up. One minute in and it feels like it’s already the middle of the song and the solos are coming. It’s an intense way to kick off an album (and a debut album, at that). Even if you’re under 40, you’ve probably heard every song on side one of this record. Side two doesn’t provide as many bangers, but all the songs sound a lot like side one and it’s not hard to imagine a world where they’re all hits too. Any maybe that’s my complaint about the record; it’s all a bit “one note”, isn’t it? Fortunately, it’s a pretty fun note.

It’s ok, not awful but not great!

I will pretend i have long hair and live in the 70s: this is the perfect album. Fast forward to 2025. No hair and getting old, just a 3 star album. Might listen again in 10 years: whats this pile of sh*t

This is just like listening to German radio any day. 80s dad rock in its purest form.

Great pop music, i am surprised i had not heard this before. I usually don't like this arena rock kind of stuff but it's fun enough here. More than a feeling is a banger.

Classic rock is classic for a reason. Because it rocks!

Top half starts soooooo stong then fades. I love Boston's hits, think they kind have a weak undercard, but enjoyed the album.

Production and guitar tone are superb. If I have one thing to say about this album, it’s that Tom Scholz’s influence on guitar tech cannot be overstated. The songs are still good, even if I’ve heard them so many times on classic rock radio. I’m deducting one star though, because I think that this album marks one step closer to the Journey-fication of hard rock in the 70s, and one step away from more organic bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and even Aerosmith.

Sometimes uninteresting things are interesting in their own right. Boston's self-titled debut is that sort of commodity. It doesn't inspire musically, tho the group can certainly 'play,' and it doesn't inspire soulfully since their hits ain't from the soul. But it does inspire culturally, e'en or especially if it begs you to discover a better product. Classic rock radio stations serve up crap mostly, and there's a whole lot of crap that's better than this: ZZ Top, Tom Petty, The Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Still, Boston has good intentions: 'No, we didn't have much money / We barely made enuf to survive / But when we got up on stage and / Got ready to play, people came alive.' It's also a worthy experience to listen to an 8-track record that spawned 8 hit singles.

If only the rest of the album lived up to More Than a Feeling.

Not offensive

One time I went to Boston and there was a bruins game that was letting out and this guy called me a fag

is good and is bad.

It’s a fun album that’ll get anyone in a positive mindset! I loved the fun guitar throughout but yet again the album had very little variation. My three highlight tracks are, More Than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, and Smokin’.

An enjoyable morning listen, but not really anythjng there that’s going to help me distinguish between journey, Boston, rep speed wagon, or even Kansas. That said, really enjoyed Foreplay/Longtime, which I’d never heard before.

Don't really like this genre of AOR, but some tracks were good. 3/5

Ouais, pas mal

Bangers

(3.5) really more than a feeling

More than a feeling

1 year later, 77 would be put out. I would never again be a Boston fan. But prior to hearing the Talking Heads, I like many of those growing up in those days we knew every word to Boston. And to this day, like today, I know the lyrics to all these songs. Amazing, really. I will always owe my musical tastes evolving to the Talking Heads. But Boston was an album most of us had and most of us could sing the words to every song, beginning to end. And I still can. I am amazed. That being said, other than for nostalgia, is it an album one must hear before they die? Nah...unless you want to get into the groove of mid-to-late 70s. Otherwise, you'll be fine without ever having to listen to Boston. Nostalgia: 5 stars; reality: 3 stars.

70s arena rock/power pop is a bit of a blind spot in my musical taste. I know Boston are the More Than a Feeling band, but them, Cheap Trick and The Cars get confused in my mind. It was nice enough but didn't grab my attention.

Indigo

I think the album Boston by Boston was the quintessential album and a fair representation of the music produced and promoted by the group. Did I like it? It was fine.

Corn drenched in cheese goes down easy
