An album which is very groovy, just a feelgood album through and through. Amazing smart with a fairly good middle and end. Nothing major in terms of problems. really good sound production for the 70's. Final thoughts: Really good, from start to end. Genre: Rock, 1976. Rating: 4.4/5

I've never listened to a Boston album but I knew every single one of these songs quite well. This is a really phenomenal album

Absolute classic. I think anyone who says they are a rock n roll fan knows about every song off this album. And for some people, this may not be a good thing. Growing up, classic radio has destroyed this album, for me. Way overplayed, maybe more than even Zeppelin. I'm not saying it's terrible, but I'm still sick of it even today. Is is bad? Absolutely not. All the songs are bangers. This is a good to great album. I just really don't want to hear it anymore. Gotta give a solid 4 for the music, but for nostalgia reasons, it's a 5. When I see this album cover, when I hear a song by Boston, I think of my pre-teen and teen years living on Highlake. Hanging out with the Edwards, Stewarts, Staggs, Standifers and Careys. Add in the Shanks and we had one helluva a youth gang growing up. And a lot of our time was spent listening and arguing music . This album makes me think of better days and times. Is this a very good album? Yes. Do I like this album? Not really. Do I appreciate the memories this album generates? Yes, I love it. Love to all those growing up in the Highlake subdivison during the late70's and early 80's. 4

More than a feeling is obviously an absolute BANGER and the rest of the album is rock solid as well.

Great Album. Foreplay / Longtime is still the best song on the Album. More than a feeling was the first song I learned on the guitar, and it holds a special place in my heart, but Foreplay / Longtime is just greatness.

This is my first review so my scale isn’t set up fully yet, still it was a really good rock album and the instrumentals were amazing.

This album is full of songs that I have grown to love, seemingly through osmosis. I would not categorize myself as a Boston fan, nor have I ever owned any of their albums, but every song on this record was familiar.

Classic dad rock album, and a pretty decent one at that. I think my dad had this CD on repeat when I was growing up so I surprisingly knew all the songs. Most were decent to good and only one or two weren’t memorable at all. 7/10

The opening 3 tracks of this album are incredible only to be undercut by a corny “how we made it track” -Rock and Roll band is the lowest point so far. -hitch a ride is a high point Love it. Fun short arena rock.

More Than a Feeling is an insane track to debut with. The album is so high energy, awesome guitar parts, rad organ inclusion, and some belting over the top of it. I may not have a kid, but when listening to Boston we are all dads.

I am burnt out on some classic rock and this album falls under that umbrella. I went through a classic rock phase in junior high, and a summer job in college would blast classic rock all day everyday. These songs are catchy and well-crafted, but I can’t picture myself intentionally listening to this album in the future.

If I remember hearing correctly this is still the highest selling debut album by a band ever. First 5 songs are all fast paced typical sounding classic rock songs highlighted by Foreplay / Long Time which is defintely the jam of this album with the long lead in. Last 3 songs slow down but still have very solid guitar solos. Something About You is lowkey a heater. I have heard this album so many times so I don't want to be biased based on nostalgia, but this album rocks I enjoy every single song on here. There is nothing really spectacular about it but it is just completely solid all around.

First three songs are BANGERS, specifically Foreplay/Long Time. What a jam. That bassline at the beginning is hype af. First 3 songs and then Smokin' are standouts. The others are solid but nothing crazy special. This is a solid 3.5 for me but I'll round up because of how much I love Foreplay/Long Time and because it's Friday.

This is great. I mean, it's proper dad rock but it's a giant of the genre, most of those bands wish they could get anywhere near an album like this. It's pretty cheesy in a lot of places, it's ever so slightly overblown all the way through, but with this kind of music that's all part of the charm. More Than A Feeling is the obvious standout in a positive way, but the album is really quite good throughout. 4/5.

Solid rock album, but to me it kind of lacks emotion/feeling.

One of the great all killer, no filler debuts. The songs have a delicious melodic and emotional edge over competitors backed by powerful performances that make the album come to life.

More than a feeling is already one of my favorite songs of all time.

Wow. After all these years, I only just now noticed that the spaceships on the album cover are really guitars. Who knew. Well, everyone I knew in high school had this album. The first three tracks were on the radio 24/7. And I still meet people that are massive Boston fans. For me this has always been middle of the road 70s rock, but this is one where the Wiki makes all the difference. I loved reading the backstory to this album being recorded mostly by one guy (an MIT grad) in his Watertown basement even more than listening to the album. And I can really appreciate how this was a big shift in American rock music away from blues-based music like Zeppelin. But despite all that hype I really only know the first three tracks and only moderately enjoy them. So a 3 becomes a 4 for the cool backstory and historical significance.

Pretty Great sound with some bangers

More Than A Feeling alone entitles this to a good rating. This type of arena rock is usually a big turn-off for me. Very low hit ratio. But Boston pulls it off! How do they do it? Which brings up a topic I've been thinking about, throughout this 1001 experience. We often get albums which are the "canonically great" example of a style or genre. Sometimes, it's a genre where 90% of it seems to suck. But then... this band does so well. It's as fun and manic and silly as the pinball-looking cover. Is that all some genres are? Someone like Boston comes around, makes a killer arena rock sound, and then hundreds of bands try (and fail) to replicate the formula? That sounds about right. This pairing just works for me. I think they should be the only ones allowed to do it. Nobody else should be allowed to make this kind of music except Boston. By the way, this album sounds GREAT on the ATCs. Great rock sound. 4/5

Very upbeat, some great songs

One of those records where every song is a classic but you're fatigued by hearing them so many times so you dock it a little even though you know you probably shouldn't. If you haven't heard this a zillion times you're in for a treat.

I like their 2nd album better. It's more consistent. This one has some great songs (obviously More Than A Feeling), but also too many generic 70s rock parts (like Smokin'). Favorite song: More Than A Feeling.

Another album that's a victim of its own success. It's overplayed to death and yet, I like it. Quite a bit actually. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure but I can't deny the craftsmanship of the songs and the production. They never topped this which was their downfall but this is a solid listen.

UFO Guitars. Not a huge Boston fan, I think it is because of the vocals. The dude consistently holds onto notes too long or something. But still a pretty powerful debut album

Solid Rock album but it is heavily carried by it's 3 hits. The other songs fall into two categories great but just not as popular ("Rock & Roll Band", "Something About You" and "Smokin'") and meh/forgettable ("Let Me Take You Home Tonight" and "Hitch A Ride"). I listened to this album a good amount growing up because my dad was a fan but overall it is sort of underwhelming if you know the three big hits. Still like a 8.5/10 with all that being said because those three big hits are some of the best classic 70's rock/pop rock songs you can find and there is enough in the other 5 tracks to keep it enjoyable.

The album begins to sound a little samey by the end, but it still manages to make the songs have their individual take on that sound. It's pretty good. I even enjoyed the long song. My favourite songs were More Than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, and Smokin'.

I am both proud and ashamed to say that I have seen Boston live…more than once

At first glance, “Boston” is a shallow, rifftastic dive into mid 70’s pop-rock. Pristine production, sparkling guitars, hedonistic lyrics, castrated vocals… it’s all there. But dig further, and “Boston” (the band and the album) is also a heartwarming story of a man who was almost ready to give up on a music career. Tom Scholz wrote this whole album in painstaking detail, recording it in his garage. He played the majority of what’s on the record- guitars, bass, keyboards- and enlisted singer Brad Delp and a unit of session musicians to finish it off. 29 years old, Scholz was still working his day job when the album suddenly took off and went gold. It then became of the fastest selling and most acclaimed debut albums in history… no mean feat. So “Boston” is about the love of music, the thrill of it keeping us alive and motivated. Iconic lead-single “More than a Feeling” has become the ultimate nostalgia-baiting song about a nostalgia-baiting song. The moment the double-tracked lead guitar kicks in to herald the central riff, we know we’re in great (clapping) hands. “Peace of Mind” could only have come from a writer in their late 20’s in a dead-end corporate job, rather than a teenager leaping into the world of showbiz: it strikes all the clearer for it. “Foreplay/Long Time” is the other radio staple which I didn’t know very well, but is perfectly paced and earns every second of its meaty runtime. “Rock and Roll Band” takes that most well-worn trope of a life on the road, but injects it with such joy and enthusiasm that it’s hard not to be carried along. The remaining four tracks don’t quite match up, but still possess enough dynamic guitar solos and catchy choruses to be an enjoyable listen. I came into “Boston” expecting a hammy, full-fat romp. That’s exactly what I got, but I also discovered a gem of an origin story. As I burn out the rest of my 20s surrounded by half-finished songs, I’ll keep on returning to “Peace of Mind” and Mr. Scholz’s story… inspiring stuff!

Classic rock at it classicist. Best song is the first one, which you definitely know, 'more than a feeling', which will be in my head all day after this. I don't think I recognised any of the other songs, but they all blended into a vibe of 'classic rock'. Good to listen to, not sure how often I'd listen again.

Great discovery! Never heard about Boston and Tom before but I got amazed by the vibe of this album. A great mix of riffs, lyrics and vocals. Looking forward to listen to more albums of this band.

"More Than A Feeling" is one of the best Classic Rock tracks of all time. This song is one of those that when it comes on the radio just about everyone gets excited for it- regardless of how often it's been heard or overplayed. "Peace of Mind" and "Smokin'" are also great tracks along the same high energy rock train. I kind of feel like this is a 5/5 because of the three hits that I mentioned. I want to give it a 4/5 because I think some of the other tracks don't live up to the legendary status of "More Than A Feeling" but it's hard for it to be pulled down when that song pulls it up so much. I've really been trying to save 5/5's for albums that are jam packed with only amazing tracks. Yea I'm sitting on this too long, it's a 4/5 but a strong 4/5.

Classic album, even purported haters don't change the channel when this comes on (with maybe the exception of Let Me Take You Home Tonight). Some pioneering recording techniques and devices. Docking one point because Scholz could have achieved all this without being a monumental douchebag. But he did not kill Brad Delpy.

Holy Crap, I didn´t expect this to be that good! I always had the feeling that Boston was a little overrated band for old dads, but damn, this album rocks really hard. I really enjoyed this, and feel glad for giving this an opportunity. Favorites Songs: Long Time, Hitchin a Ride, Peace of mind.

I've never listened to this album, but I've heard every single one of these songs countless times. The list might as well have some straight ahead mainstream 70s arena rock on it, and this is probably as good an example of that as anything else. I'll give Boston credit though - they did create an album that still gets tons of radio airplay (at least in the US) almost 50 years after it was released. Definitely not my favorite, but you've got to respect the accomplishment.

Really solid album from front to back. I think it doesn't quite hold your attention all the way thru but there certainly weren't any bad songs on the album.

I was surprised by this. A bit of a banger, esp the first half. Amazing sound/production. Foreplay/Longtime was super impressive.

More Than A Feeling is a hell of an opener. Then Peace Of Mind has the first two tracks swinging for the fences. Foreplay/Longtime is a rollicking good time though the back half feels like a thin premise held afloat by various stage tricks. Rock And Roll Band is pretty lame. I feel like that is the turning point of the album. Super influential, love that guitar sound. But I feel it plays all its cards in the first couple songs and then just recycles them

This is the type of music Neo would listen to if he ate the blue pill. This is the type of music old white men listen to at a golf course. This is "I just got more than I thought I would get on my tax return" type music. This music will outlive me, and possibly the next generation. May god have mercy on us all.

Wouldn't say Boston is a favorite of mine. I've never put them in a conversation about best bands/albums of all time...But DAMN this album is nearly perfect. I know all these songs have been hammered into our heads for 30 years, but despite that, I loved hearing them, felt like catching up with an old friend.

Classic Boston

Classic 70s rock, love it.

This album is such a fucking powerhouse. The first 5 songs on this album were legitimate hits. They all have that characteristic Boston sound with the soaring guitars that drown out everything else at times. It's a really incredible testament to the vision of Tom Scholz who did the writing and most of the instruments on the album. The vocals on the album are stellar, with lots of great harmonies. Really an underrated band 4/5

Some might argue that all their songs are the same. My question is if that song rocks is that a problem? 3.75.

Guitar-centric dad rock with hooks for days. I could grill the fuck out of some burgers to this. I can't wait to pick my kid up from school while I blast the shit out of this through the blown out speakers in our minivan. Epic 70s rock. Did I mention that there are 2 lead guitars!? Oh yeah, that is some archetypal Dad Rock. The opening riff to the opening song is so brilliant, it kind of has to go down hill from there, but it does keep pretty good throughout. Closer to a 5 than to a 3.

Cheesy rock n roll why wouldn’t you love this music!

TBH When this came out I was 17 and heavily into all the new stuff coming out: New Wave and Punk and I disliked all the polished light stuff like this album Kansas, Journey, etc. But this is the cream of this crop

Their debut album, and Boston kills it right out of the gate with two timeless rock classics, "More Than a Feeling" and "Peace of Mind," plus the underrated "Smokin'." The rest of the album is solid '70s-style guitar rock, and I'm always down for that.

We all know this band & its 70s organ rock sound. Sometimes they annoy me (not sure why), but I know a lot of their songs & lyrics. Maybe because they're actually pretty good at what they do? They're a bit overly polished for me, but I'll sign along if one of these songs comes on.

My dad played this album a lot when I was growing up. What can you say, it's 70s guitar rock. Fun to revisit.

Some albums are just a joy to listen to. Every song here captures the essence of classic rock, made for big stadiums or played on road trips. This is what music is - it just makes you happy and makes you smile. Standout tracks are More than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, Something About You, and Let Me Take You Home Tonight.

It starts with a huge banger. The rest of the album is super pleasant to listen tom overall great listening but it is lacking soée sparkles at times. Really nice vibes and solo though !

What kind of guy do you have to be to use the term 'mama' to refer to a potential romantic partner and not sound weird? And to tell said 'mama' that you want to show her 'sweet delight'? I don't think I could pull either of those moves off, but Boston does. So that's worth a point. This is pretty good. It's definitely inoffensive. But there are also moments that are pretty undeniable. The first three tracks, for instance, are hard to forget. It's sort of like that Howard Hawks quote about making movies - have 3 great scenes and no bad ones. That's kind of this album. I could actively listen to this again.

Call me a dad because this shit rocks

This album totally rocks! So many classics. Only one or two I didn't know, even though if you had asked me prior to this listen to name a Boston song, I couldn't. Really impressed with this.

This is peak dad rock if there ever was one. Even though I was nowhere near being alive when this released I feel weirdly nostalgic listening to it. Like reminiscing about a sweet memory. There’s no reason this is as good as it is, but with an opener like “More Than a Feeling” you have no other option than to give in. Scholz is the perfect classic rock guitarist and Delp was one hell of a singer. Banger after banger and great choruses followed by even greater ones. Had B-side been as strong as the exceptional A-side this had been an easy 5. But this is a thrill nonetheless.

Unexpectedly good

This is just a fun album. I loved it when I was very young, went through a phase where I said it sucked because I was "so punk" and now in 2022 as a man pushing 40 with no shits to give about what anyone thinks, I'm ready to admit that I really like this. It's got a lot of cheese,but its gooood cheese. The album starts losing a little steam toward the end but there are some absolute killer songs at the beginning. If you tell me you don't like More Than A Feeling, I won't believe you. Overplayed? Maybe. But it's one of the best rock songs ever. I will die on that hill

I mean, "More than a feeling"? Come on - can't beat that with a stick. "Peace of Mind" is one of those songs that I always forget about, but as soon as you hear it, you're like "Dude, Boston. Yes, please". "Foreplay"? Not usually a fan, unless it's Boston! "Smokin" and "Hitch a Ride" - well, to quote the immortal David Pumpkins sketch, they can't all be winners...actually, the whole B-side is really B-side, with "Let me take you home tonight" being particularly cringe-worthy in a way that only a STD rampant 70's vibe can be. I'm pretty sure this song is why your Maryanne walked away...still, I'm always impressed by how many solid hits came off of these old albums. The A side will definitely be in strong rotation around the old bing bong table...

Freedom rock! All these songs I've heard my whole life in the background - grocery stores, dad's classic rock radio station, contemporary "mix" radio stations, movies, tv, college parties - and never once anything i would go out of my way to play. So, giving it a dedicated listen was eye opening - I can totally picture dudes in the 70's hanging out around the record player and nodding their heads, saying to each other, "wait for this part man!" This is no doubt one of the Greatest Rock Albums Ever, and it probably suffers for it - just straight up musical ubiquity. And yeah, nothing too deep or life-changing here, but at the end of the day it's still just awesome rock music I can appreciate and enjoy.

Boston is one of those performing bands that sound as though they give everything. This album is chock full of them playing and singing their collective heart out, and something like that tends to make songs sound better, but also have a sense of feel. Their music is not heavy or loud, but their presentation carries weight. Music that makes a listener feel can often cover what would be otherwise an innocuous collection of songs. The songs on this album are pretty incredible, but Boston owns them to the degree that if anyone else were to perform them, it would feel a bit off.

70s classic rock like this is my guilty pleasure. I think it's just plain uncool, but it sounds fantastic. It's so easy to shit on bands like Boston, Kansas, REO Speedwagon, etc., but this is a very good album. No skips, just some great straightforward rock songs. I do prefer the songs when it gets a bit more edgy and closer to ZZ Top and Thin Lizzy than Steve Miller Band. Nevertheless, I own a used copy of this on vinyl so that should speak for itself. Favorite tracks(just listen to the whole thing): More Than a Feeling, Smokin', Foreplay/Long Time

I've never listened to this album but I've heard every song on classic rock radio. I don't know if this is good but it's sunday bbq music at its best.

This is the debut album from the American rock band Boston - which was primarily recorded and produced by founder Tom Scholz. At release in 1976 this album broke sales records - being the best-selling album at the time, it won the RIAA Century Award as the best-selling debut album - and became an extremely popular classic rock album. Cheesy as all hell, but hey, I'm not vegan, I can dig it. Like a lot of albums from this era, it's pretty front-loaded, the first 3 songs in particular, and it never quite recovers after Foreplay. But the massive production is still charming, everything sounds massive and wonderful. Even if you're tired of hearing all the songs on classic rock radio, listen to it in full. You may be surprised. B

I liked this more than I thought--first of all, I recognized more than I thought. And, while it is a bit too generic-70s-rock for my taste, and too many of the songs sound basically the same, it's still pretty good generic 70s rock. I would probably give this a 3.5 but I'm happy to round up since I was pleasantly surprised.

THESE DRUMS?? they went crazy and stupid. that sound in the bg sounds like tv static and that alien abduction thing idk. ok omg smooth transition to the other part of the song it sounds so peaceful. here comes the guitar, surprisingly it mixes well w the suave bgm. the vocals r really nice mixed in. i like the clapping. ending riffs are so amazing 4. all songs sound kinda similar to each other but this one has a different vibe. reminds me of queen and has a more rock ish vibes than the others, theres some cheers mixed in lol. holy shit yelling? lol. crazy sick guitar riffs, i swear this song could be made by queen 5. its giving 1950's rock and roll. why foes this guy sound like freddie mercury. piano?? 6. starting off w acoustic guitar okay me likey, sounds more like a ballad. ok not a a ballad but def a bit more calm than the others. was this album rlly made in 1976 lol wf, that ended quick 7. this song also has an acoustic feel but the vocals are more lax rn. nvm, electric guitar riff. im running out of things to say these songs rlly do sound all alike 8. idk if this song alr started or not. these r getting repetitive but i like the lyrics of this one

Ridiculously tight guitar work

It seems kind of goofy to bother saying anything about this album. It’s Boston. Naming you band after one of the major US cities is bold, I’ll say that. I don’t ever need to listen to this again, but it’s clearly a masterpiece in its genre.

Really fun album, enjoyed the listen.

I'm not usually into arena rock, but Boston's debut album absolutely nails the form. All around, a high-energy album that (deservingly) launched them to stellar heights. 4.5/5 stars

surprisingly even though it is not the favourite type of music

Classic for a reason and a masterpiece of its kind. Everything fits, everything works. Can’t go 5 because of the era (feels olds even if it sounds fresh) and a few cliches (the organ solo on "Smokin'" and excessive shrieking by Delp), plus demerits for the association with Aerosmith, but otherwise good in almost every way a record can be good. 4.65 rounding down.

What a god damn opening!! Those first 3 tracks are a mega 3-hit combo. The rest of the album is solid as well. It maintains a consistent sound without being repetitive.

One of the greatest rock debut albums of the 70s, Boston’s self titled album delivers on tight suite like rock. Tom Scholz was a home recoding pioneer and many effects and techniques were developed by Scholz and became industry standard for a time. The vocals are powerful and the instrumentation is sweeping, classically influenced, and carefully orchestrated. I might call this baroque rock instead of power pop.

YES! Any album that opens with a song like "more than a feeling" will have a tough time keeping up the stadium destroying level of ROCK.....but apart from what to me was a slight misstep with the 7 minute noodling on foreplay / long time this album keeps up the pace

Every song held its own, and I no longer hate More Than a Feeling. So that's a plus.

Contrairement à la rumeur populaire qui se propage en ce moment sur la toile, je ne vais finalement attribuer qu'un 4 à Boston, et non un 5, comme certains ont pu le penser. L'album est absolument exceptionnel mais vous savez comme moi qu'il en faut un peu plus pour me faire décrocher la note maximale. J'ai à ce sujet eu beaucoup de facilité à me situer en écoutant les paroles des chansons de cet album puisque j'ai passé de nombreuses heures à arpenter les rues de Boston lorsque je jouais à Assassin's Creed III en classe de terminale. Certains indiens parvenaient de temps à autre à se glisser dans les visualisations que j'avais de certains récits mais mon cerveau corrigeait en général rapidement le tir.

Het zijn zeer delicate nummers die mij stimuleren in het verkennen van mijzelf. Wat echter wel desastreus is voor mijn beoordeling, is het feit dat de eerste 3 nummers(deze heb ik alleen mijn oren laten penetreren) sterk lijken op andere nummers van andere muziekgroepen in dezelfde tijd. Ik weet niet of het de bedoeling was om sterk geïnspireerd te zijn maar dit zorgt toch voor een onorigineel gevoel. Al met al vond ik het een goed genoeg album voor een middelmatige rating.

There are no bad songs here. All can be played individually and would cause no offense. You've gotta admire Tom Scholz's songwriting/producing/guitar work and Brad Delp's vocals here. Massive respect here and particularly enjoyed Let Me Take You Home Tonight and Peace Of Mind. The only reason its not a 5 because I didn't have any passion for it, I didn't love it. It just doesn't move me.

Gros classique, plein de tounes connues

Me parece un poco dificil el disco por el lado de mi predisposición hacia Boston, siempre se me han hecho dentro de esa camada de rock de concierto tipo Journey, Kansas, Foreigner etc etc de la parte más baja, los que sacaban discos "buenos" y fueron flotando con fama y canciones medio sosas que medio cumplen... Pero este disco la verdad merece la pena. Quizá solo tenían un buen disco dentro de ellos pero es un disco excelente. Desde los sencillos conocidos hasta canciones que parecieran casi de Yes o Rush fue una sorpresa total escuchar el trabajo conjunto. Quizá nunca sacaran nada que llegara a este nivel pero fue un debut realment especial.

What a belter of a first track to kick this project off! I hadn't heard past the first two tracks before, but was hooked by 2mins into the third.... Perfection. 👌

Loses steam over the back half but damn if this isn't one of the most electric opening 3-song runs I've ever listened to. Foreplay / Long Time is one of my favorite 2-part songs of all time. I was always impressed by the fact that the band, like Queen, used no synths. I think I know every song on this album from type radio, but I do not own the album. That’s how popular it was. Production is stellar, of course.

Excellent rock album. Holds up well and goes by quick. Their hits are great rock anthems. Their lesser known songs are still good. Easy listening album that can replayed all the time. 8.2/10

I rolled my eyes when I saw this album cover... but I didn't realize how many songs I already knew. It's classic rock radio banger after banger. It's enjoyable and as an album... like this many hits can't be ignored. 4/5.

Ahhh Boston. One of the quintessential "dad rock" records. I've never listened to this album before, but know all of the first five songs from it pretty well from various playlists or radios. It's good music and I can absolutely understand why it got so popular and why it was so influential and I enjoy listening to the individual songs. But it gets very samey very fast and in the end it's really not very interesting music from a modern-day listener perspective. Still good though.

I rather enjoyed this ablum. I thought it was quite neat and interesting.

I liked it, especially the use of electric organ. And the bluesy song was less stereotypical than most blues songs which I appreciated.

In the summer of 1976, the radio propaganda drumbeat for Boston's debut was omnipresent: \"Better music through science!\" was the tagline--silly but memorable. When Tom Scholz presented the demos he had painstakingly assembled in his basement studio, the record company suits balked. \"You might have something here if you re-recorded it in a real studio,\" I imagine they intoned. Scholz dutifully re-recorded the music and gave the suits the original tapes: \"Much better!\" they roared. Scholz wasn't being a wiseass--he just couldn't recover the magic he created in his home studio. And Boston's debut album is kind of magical, in a low brow way. Yes, the prologue Foreplay is cheesy, bordering on risible, and the double time coda of Let Me Take You Home Tonight barrels right past that--it makes me cringe every time I hear it. But Boston's debut album functioned as the template for arena rock and for good reason. The playing is tight, the sound is impeccable, the melodies soar, and every song is crammed to the rafters with hooks. It richly deserved to be the smash it was. Now, I realize that by today's standards, this music sounds hopelessly naïve and sincere, but I can't hold that against it. Nor am I going to dun it because of a lack of ambition. For a poppy, candy-colored, rock 'n roll confection concocted to appeal to the masses, Boston's debut album is just shy of perfect.

The album is more than just More Than A Feeling. At least that's what I thought while listening to it. Later on I didn't remember anything about it apart from that hit song. It's good but very repeatable to the point where tge songs blended together into one constant stream of music.

Some classic 70s rocking, can start sounding a bit samey, but the last rack is a really good change of pace and has a good feeling of finality for the album.

I didn't think that I was super familiar with Boston before today but it turns out they are the soundtrack to every movie ever set in the 70's. Enjoyable listen.

Feels nostalgic in an American way. Focuses a lot on instruments, vocals are repeated. One song that stood out to me are foreplay/longtime which talks about leaving after such a long time because time is not waiting for them and they gotta chase their dream. The line that stood out to me is “I’m jst moving on” “you’ll forget about me after I’m gone” he’s leaving the person to chase dreams.

Yeah. I have multiple projects going. I got this album pretty early on. I was flooded with nostalgia when I realized it was in my dad’s album collection and he played it fairly regularly when I was really young. But today? Man was it generic stadium rock. 3 Boolean: True

An album I can see why it's liked by many. I just didn't click with it. Quite samey, and nothing great on it beyond the initial track, More Than a Feeling. Middle of the road

The first thing I will say is this came through awesome on my car stereo. I don't know if my shitty aux jack just happened to work that day or if this was mastered in a way that worked for that circumstance. The guitar tone and tightness of the band were positives. I got kind of tired of the bands overall sound by the end of it because it's kind of an onslaught of the same thing. It's not really life changing stuff but it's a solid rock album

"More Than A Feeling" and "Smokin'" are massive songs that will get me moving like a drunk uncle at a wedding, even if I didn't need an entire album of this. With dueling guitar solos and dramatic vocals, this album is made for stadiums. You can hear them take influence from progressive rock during the instrumental sections. The talent is there, but they just sound like a dumbed-down version of Yes when they start noodling away. Although this isn't my preferred type of rock music, you have to give Boston credit for sounded fully formed on their debut record and being ahead of the curve and putting out an album in the mid seventies that sounds like it would be playing in arenas a decade later.
