Reviews (page 2 of 13)

Never a huge fan of Queen.

What a shit album!

Don't get the fuss for Queen. Apart from one or two songs, they are seriously overrated.

Should have saved time and money by putting killer queen on a 7”

No matter what the album is, Queen is still a bunch of tedious old arse.

Unbearable

Hates it, dull and overly glam at the same time.

not even queen killer could save this shite. Who knew photoshop existed in 1974, the glistening hunks on the cover of this album look nothing like the disfigured beasts that are in queen.

Unbearable

I guess the purpose of the album and by extension the band itself is to provide aural and operatic pop rock experiences. Unfortunately this ain't my thing and found little to no enjoyment here.

One of Queen's best albums. Killer Queen is just stellar but everything on this slaps and works together as an album.

brighton rock, 8.5/10 killer queen, 9/10 tenement funster, 9/10 flick of the wrist, 9/10 lily of the valley, 6.5/10 now i'm here, 9/10 in the lap of the gods, 6/10 stone cold crazy, 8.5/10 dear friends, 7/10 misfire, 9/10 bring back that leroy brown, 7.5/10 she makes me, 7/10 in the lap of the gods revisited, 8.5/10 favs: killer queen tenement funster now i'm here stone cold crazy misfire least: lily of the valley dear friends quite good, different to what i was expecting.

Lots of fun.

Entirely full of interesting tracks that exemplify genre. Also full of influence for later, great music: Brian May is building foundational pieces that show up much later in hair metal and thrash, no less. Freddie is unimpeachable, as always, though less gymnastic on 'Sheer Heart Attack' than he can be, Roger Taylor keeps the drums both rock steady and subtly (sometimes not so subtly) fascinating throughout and John Deacon, ever underappreciated, finds endless ways of filling the cracks left by everyone else with precisely the right bass groove. There are a half-dozen Queen records that are all masterclasses in rock music and this is among the best of them. It's less ambitious that 'A Night At The Opera' (or even its predecessors, 'Queens' I and II) but serves as a perfect statement that these four are capable of concision as well as bombast. Plus, it's got 'Killer Queen', which is perhaps their campiest, most Cabaret-like work and an unrepentant earworm, to boot. May's guitar solos and the sounds he gets from his instruments are unique in quiet ways that we're still unpacking today (often: out of phase pickups, famously, if you're a geek about this stuff). I cannot express how important Taylor and Deacon are to Queen's sound ('Flick Of The Wrist' is just driven by them), though -- this was a fully-formed, entirely capable glam rock band before Freddie Mercury came along and that's a hell of a statement. They had the chops and the writing proclivities to rival Iron Maiden (formed five years later), if they'd wanted. May would've had to turn up just slightly. Maybe you can't have Maiden without Steve Harris, but I digress slightly. I'm writing this up having also started T. Rex's 'Electric Warrior' as my next one and the glam comparisons are obvious but it's obvious that Queen had surpassed Boland's band immediately. The tension, the drama, the musicianship and the utter sound of it all is fully better. Had Queen never existed, some other British bands might have had more room to breathe but, as it was, why order a hamburger steak when there's a perfect prime rib at the same price? Music isn't a zero-sum game -- there's infinite space for expression, but for all the things I get from T. Rex (except for a laid-back feel, which Queen rarely did), Queen gives it better. 5/5, like most Queen albums.

In-fucking-credible. What a goddamn genius record.

Awesome!

Listened previously. Expectations: High - Verdict: Masterpiece - This might be my favourite Queen album. It combines the fantastical heavy metal of the early years with a growing sense of pop songcraft. Killer Queen is perfection, the suite from Tenement Funster through to Lily Of The Valley is sublime and Brighton Rock... uhh... rocks? The second half just continues with stunners like In The Lap Of The Gods and Stone Cold Crazy. Brilliant, brilliant record.

Lots of classics on this one. Enjoyed it.

(100/100)

this was fantastic, fun, heartbreaking, loud and unapologetically queen!

I love how most tracks fade into each other. Brighton Rock is my favourite Queen song. It’s not an overly long album and it’s satisfying to listen to.

I love how it escalated. Queen is so awsome

Iconic and fun as heck. There isn't a track I don't enjoy.

Queen rocked.

perfection

Amazing album, had some classics there and overall amazing, no words.

Theatrical and chaotic. In a good way. *Upgraded to a 5 after further listens. Great flow to it as an album, a couple of bangers, and clearly better than other 4s.

this might be my favourite queen album i’ve heard so far, it really lets me hear some of their less popular work and the quality just stands so consistently

Así da gusto hacer el challenge. Un album muy top

It’s Queen. I love Queen :) and also this album, yay yay🌟

Thank the good Lord above we’re back to great music on today’s journey through the 1,001 albums you must hear before you die. How do I know? Well, it’s because I’ve listened to Queen’s Sheer Heart Attack several times and a lot of the songs about 1,001 times. Queen is an all-timer, and I don’t think they really got their due until the last 20 years or so despite the fact that the average person can probably name 5 Queen songs. They had songs for everybody, and they were weird, which I love. I can see and hear in my mind’s eye a stadium full of people chanting along. It hit me just now, this sounds like a Pink Floyd song. Like something off of The Wall. Great album and full of surprises, even though I've heard it a few times. If you are just a casual fan of Queen, listen to this album. It gives you a perfect snapshot of what this band is. They aren’t just a rock band, they aren’t just a pop band, they are a band that mixes genres so well that they are their own thing. I think this is a must-hear album, and you should hear it this weekend.

Been a minute since I listened to this and man did I enjoy it. Really cohesive sounding album where one song bleeds into another yet all maintain a distinct sound. Goofy fuckin band with wonderful vocals, harmonies, guitar tone, and arrangements. Fuck yeah

It might lack some of the greatest songs of all time, but it's just a kick ass album through and through and probably my favorite Queen album as a result. A divine, unbroken blend of heavy rock and roll guitar, theatrical thespian vocals, and melodious piano. It's hard to square this album with the Queen making Under Pressure but god damn, they have more range than the Andes. (4.5)

The 2026 mix is astonishing

So Freddy didn't sing lead on every song? I noticed that on track 3! This is an amazing energetic, frenetic, soncially interesting. I love that they cover Metallica's Stone Cold Crazy (jk), I know this version came first. The album is operatic and hard rocking. I like this enough that if someone put it on, I would revisit this befor A Night at the Opera because I know that one inside out.

Liked!

No skips

imo spoko pozatym to queen wiec nawet 5 dam

God save the Queen

Have I listened to this album before? No How familiar am I with this album? I know a lot of of the songs How do I feel about this artist? Love Queen Pre-Listen Thoughts: I’m excited for this one, I think it’s gonna be a good one Favorite track(s): Misfire, Flick of the Wrist, Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy Post-Listen Thoughts: I honestly didn’t know when one song ended the next began, and I mean that in a good way. Sometimes when songs run together in an album it’s because it’s dragging and they all sound the same, with this it’s because this album had a great flow to it. I even liked the slow songs and I’m usually not one for rock ballads, I’ve never loved Queen’s slower hits.

Almost 200 in and I finally get a Queen album! I think I only knew 1 or 2 of these songs going in "Killer Queen" for sure, which is great. That song, "Now I'm Here" and "Stone Cold Crazy" were the standouts for me, but I did also enjoy "Brighton Rock" and "Flick of the Wrist". I was just generally surprised at how "hard rock" this was but not in a bad way.

Foda! Stone Cold Crazy, Now I'm Here e Bring Back me tiraram um sorriso.

Me encanta queen

Fun to hear an early Queen album in its entirety. You can hear all of the opera experimentations taking shape.

Anything by Queen gets a 5. That’s just the rules.

Woowowow what a blast of a record. I absolutely adored this one!! I especially loved a lot of the varied guitar and drums, bright sparkling piano inbetween, and of course Freddie's beautiful voice. I was pleasantly surprised also by the panning from left to right on a multitude of songs, it really gave a sense of space! No real misses on this album for me, I even think the somber piano songs have their place here as a break from the high energy rock. Highlights: Brighton Rock, KQ (obviously), Stone Cold Crazy, Now I'm Here, Tenement Funster, Flick of the Wrist. For the slower songs, Dear Friends I enjoyed the most. It's an album so good I may just listen to it twice today...

I’m an unapologetic Queen fan. But I’m not sure I’ve ever heard this album… And I hadn’t. But man was it good. Not A Night at the Opera, but so good. I did say I was unapologetic. So 5 it is. Boolean: yes, very glad I got to hear before I die

For me, Sheer Heart Attack is Queen at their sharpest and hungriest—the moment when everything clicked. It’s wildly eclectic yet somehow lean, jumping from proto‑punk bite (“Stone Cold Crazy”) to music‑hall theatrics (“Killer Queen”) without ever feeling indulgent. The band sounds fearless here: Brian May’s chiming guitars, Freddie Mercury’s playful menace and theatrical flair, and a rhythm section that swings hard but knows when to keep it tight. There’s invention in every track, but also real grit—less polish, more fire. Later albums may be grander, but Sheer Heart Attack feels alive in a way the rest never quite match. Simply the best album Queen made.

Always been a fan of Queen. Mostly their 70s and early 80s stuff. This one is one of my favorites. Lots of heavy songs, tempered with some prog/glam stuff. The only negative is the number of shorter tracks. I've said before in other reviews - let the songs breath a bit. 4.5 stars.

The Tenement Funster/Flick of the Wrist/Lily of the Valley suite is five stars alone! There are also some pretty cool more well known songs on here as well.

I love this album with all my heart i love Queen

A Classic. Queen doing an intro to their, next, biggest work. Must have, must listen, must love.

Súper rockero me encanto

QUEEN TOP TOP TOP, increíbles guitarras la nta

That transition between Flick of the Wrist and Lilly of the valley is just so amazing. I used to be a huge Queen fan a few years ago but drifted away from them a bit recently, really refreshing to listen to my old favourite album again.

Great!

This is 5 stars plus all the way. Best album by far on here.

Cok iyi la skip yok abartilmis falan degil queen babadir In The Lap Of The Gods Tenement Funster Brighton Rock

Love Queen ❤️

The drama, very interesting to listen to, the absolute opposite of background music.

QUEEENNNNN- killer queen is an all time favourite

i love u freddie mercury

Absolute banger, goes hard

Classic album with an incredible opener.

Oh yeah. This album did gangbusters on the middle school iPod. I think this is when Queen figured it out. They finally found a way to marry all their impulses and ideas into an album that manages to be diverse, interesting, and focused. This takes off in a way that the preceding albums did not, despite their competence. Seamless fusion of hard rock and pop into glam. It’s actually better as a whole than I remember. What a fucking banger.

Queens beste album no doubt about it

I think I need to rethink my stance of Queen being a singles band. This fuckin rules.

The album where Queen fully came into their own.

well who doesnt love queen.

Have heard of Queen Had not heard Sheer Heart Attack Had heard Killer Queen Why had I dismissed queen for so long... I don't mind thier big singles, but I'd heard the best offs so many times. The singles are good. But the two albums I've listened to now in full have shown me there there's so much more. Their experimentation. It's not just Freddie singing. They pushed boundries, and they found rock!

Awesome album Theatrical as only queen can be Great guitar riffs and solos Might be a bit to much experimentation and heavy parts in some songs as “in the lap of the gods”, but every single song has something awesome, exciting and easy to remember. Its hard to put in words what this album makes me feel, really different people working together and pitting something about themselves, and somehow it works so well.

This was a surprise to me, as someone who is into some heavier genres, I can hear the influence this has had on a lot of things I love, and the hits are exactly that.

you know the drill

Perfect encapsulation of who Queen were in their prime. It’s got everything.

well duh

An operatic, bombastic, rockin' masterpiece. I audibly yelled "NO FUCKING WAY" at 6:30 a.m. in the morning while walking to my bus stop when I got this album.

Great Queen album!

This was the first Queen album I ever heard. Turned me on to them but I always listened to other albums from them when I needed a fix. Been a while since I heard it and it was just as good as remember.

Yeah yeah we get it Queen is the perfect band.

Loved it. Hadn't listened to anything but the hits before. Really enjoyed that it all felt like one song, everything flowed nicely

Standard Queen album And that standard is amazing. Never listened to this before unlike Queen 2, Night at the opera, Day at the races and News of the World which I love. What a way to start an album with Brighton Rock. OMG. Killer Queen also kicks arse and Flick of the wrist is amazing too. More Queen records I haven’t heard please

This album is iconic. This is my first time listening to it all the way through and I love it. Queen has a lot of good hits but this album is clearly one of their best for a reason. They blend rock and opera together beautifully.

This is the first time I've come across a "pre-group" album where my original rating felt totally off base. It was only the second album I listened to, so I'll give myself a minor pass. Of course Killer Queen defines the album, as it's Queen's first true hit. However, it's also filled with solid tracks I've known like Brighton Rock and Stone Cold Crazy, as well newfound tracks like Now I'm Here and Misfire.

Well yeah, it's Queen, obviously it's good. This one felt more like what I'm used to from Queen without necessarily being each one of their poo hits and I really liked it overall.

70’s Rock ⭐️In the Lap of the Gods...Revisited

Very very awesome

"Sheer Heart Attack" serves as the bridge between Queen’s progressive roots and the polished, multi-layered pop-rock that defined their career. It opens with an effective "one-two punch": the hard rock energy of 'Brighton Rock' followed immediately by the sophisticated pop of 'Killer Queen'. While it contains the occasional eccentric misstep - a trait that became part of the band's DNA - the album is remarkably cohesive. Superbly produced by Roy Thomas Baker, the record showcases the excellently written and arranged tracks. It balances Brian May’s distinctive guitar orchestrations and Freddie Mercury’s versatile vocals with a writing approach from all four members. While the first side is arguably flawless, the second side sees a very slight dip in consistency, though it remains a high-water mark for 1970s rock. Five Stars. Side one 1 "Brighton Rock" (5/5) 2 "Killer Queen" (5/5) 3 "Tenement Funster" (5/5) 4 "Flick of the Wrist" (5/5) 5 "Lily of the Valley" (5/5) 6 "Now I'm Here" (5/5) Side two 7 "In the Lap of the Gods" (5/5) 8 "Stone Cold Crazy" (5/5) 9 "Dear Friends" (4/5) 10 "Misfire" (3/5) 11 "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" (4/5) 12 "She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes)" (5/5) 13 "In the Lap of the Gods...Revisited" (5/5) Total - 61 Average - 4.69 275/1001 148/275 albums reviewed were new to me

Outstanding

Thank the good Lord above we’re back to great music on today’s journey through the 1,001 albums you must hear before you die. How do I know? Well, it’s because I’ve listened to Queen’s Sheer Heart Attack several times and a lot of the songs about 1,001 times. Queen is an all-timer, and I don’t think they really got their due until the last 20 years or so. They had songs for everybody, and they were weird, which I love. At the same time, you don’t see many weird bands become as huge as Queen did. Big Elf is a brilliant band, but they were so weird that they broke up after two albums. If you like huge, bombastic carnival music mixed with prog rock, check out Big Elf. I digress. Let’s get into the Heart Attack. Track 1 is Brighton Rock, and it certainly rocks. It wasn’t a single from the album, but I feel like I've known it my whole life. There were just two singles from this album, even though at least five songs are well known by all Queen fans. Speaking of carnival music, Brighton Rock starts out with carnival music before becoming almost speed metal. No one’s guitar sounds like Brian May. I’m surprised someone hasn’t tried to copy it. The chorus is so good, it gives me chills. Queen and Van Halen, for my money, have the best harmonies and backing vocals of all time. Hearing Queen all sing together gives me joy. The middle section of the song breaks down into an amazing guitar solo by Brian May. It reminds me of Led Zep’s Heartbreaker. Then the rest of the band comes back in with another blazing solo from May. Incredible way to kick off the album. Track 2 is Killer Queen and I can’t explain it. It's rock and roll, it’s Mozart, it’s indescribable. This was a single off the album and it should have been. It’s very bouncy and poppy, but it has an edge to it through its vocals and May’s guitar. The backing vocals from drummer Roger Taylor blend perfectly with Freddie Mercury’s. It’s like Michael Anthony of Van Halen blending with David Lee Roth for those huge VH choruses. Killer Queen is three minutes of perfection. Speaking of Taylor, he wrote and sang track 3, Tenement Funster. It sounds like the title of a T. Rex song. Bassist Roger Deacon plays the acoustic guitar on the song, but May is there with another killer solo. Such a great, underrated gem. All the band members were at the top of their game on this album. Then TF slips right into Flick of the Wrist with Mercury back on vocals. Holy crap! I forgot about this jam. Incredible vocal harmonies. It’s that classic Queen sound. The song has a Middle Eastern feel to it. It seems Flick of the Wrist was issued as a double single with Killer Queen, but I have no memory of hearing this on the radio. OR hearing them played back to back like ZZ Top's Waitin' for the Bus and Jesus Just Left Chicago. Now Flick of the Wrist slips seamless ly into track 4, Lily of the Valley, and it’s Mercury and a piano with the band providing backing vocals. Here comes May with a guitar blast, but then quickly back to the softer piano and Mercury singing. Beautiful, but short song. Track 5, Now I’m Here, should be a sports anthem or at least used for a montage of a team’s season, from training camp to the Super Bowl. May has a great riff for this song. It’s amazing how these songs don’t sound old. The production is great, and Queen’s music was so different from everyone else’s in the 1970s that it sounded futuristic, even when it wasn’t. As the song fades out we get the band singing, “Go, go, go little Queenie,” a nod to Chuck Berry. Track 7, In the Lap of the Gods, is just a…I don’t know. It’s not rock and roll really, Mercury’s voice has an effect on it, making it sound a bit warped. This is the type of stuff I mentioned before. It’s weird, but because it’s Queen, they can make it work. Just amazing. Not my favorite song off the album, but it’s so intriguing that I can’t help but like it. It has backing vocals that sound like a woman singing, but it’s Taylor with that amazing high falsetto of his. All the members of Queen were destined to be major contributors to rock and roll. Now we’re getting somewhere, track 8 is Stone Cold Crazy, which is early speed metal, as far as I'm concerned. Metallica has covered this song for its Garage Days albums. Just 2 minutes of speed. Even the vocals are speedy. Queen could have been an incredible metal band if that was their bag. Track 9, Dear Friends, is a beautiful, almost lullaby. It’s just Mercury and the boys singing with a piano. At one minute long, when it’s finished, you just want more. Beautiful little lullaby. Track 10 is Misfire and for this album, it kind of sounds like it. It’s not like anything else on here. It’s a bit peppier, and May’s guitars are bright and pushed over to the right. For some reason, it doesn’t appeal to me that much, but it’s less than two minutes long, so it doesn’t wear out its welcome. Stormtroopers Track 11, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, and things are kind of going bonkers at the end. This song is kind of a ragtime song. It reminds me of Van Halen’s Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now). There’s a banjo and maybe a ukulele playing? Wow, just a weird song to be stuck on this album. It’s not bad, it was just unexpected. That’s hilarious. Track 12 is She Makes Me (Stormtroopers in Stilettos), and it’s a slow jam with the whole band singing the vocals in parts. This song really sounds like it could have been a Beatles song. The song was written by May and is about loving a controlling, manipulative woman, though the dude can’t escape her. He loves the power she has over him. It’s so slow and laid back for such powerful lyrics. The final track is In the Lap of the Gods…Revisited. Mercury is now singing in his regular voice. I enjoy this more than the first Lap of the Gods. May’s guitar is very bombastic and powerful. This song is a show closer for sure, as the band ends it with a chant over and over. I can see and hear in my mind’s eye a stadium full of people chanting along. It hit me just now, this sounds like a Pink Floyd song. Like something off of The Wall. band Great album and full of surprises, even though I've heard it a few times. If you are just a casual fan of Queen, listen to this album. It gives you a perfect snapshot of what this abnd is. They aren’t just a rock band, they aren’t just a pop band, they are a band that mixes genres so well that they are their own thing. I think this is a must-hear album, and you should hear it this weekend.

I love this album

why have i never listened to queen before this was beautiful.

Killer Queen and Now I'm Here are the greatest hits material, but it's just a good listen overall.

An even better album than the previously reviewed A Night At The Opera, Sheer Heart Attack rocks out furiously and continuously. From May's killer solo on "Brighton Rock" through the ostentatious trilogy "Tenement Funster/Flick Of The Wrist/Lily Of The Valley, to the proto speed-metal of "Stone Cold Crazy," the wild Jim Croce piss-take/tribute "Bring Back Leroy Brown." Oh yeah, "Killer Queen" is also here. Amazing album.

As good as everything Queen have done in the 70s, and that means excellent.

It’s a killer

I've been a Queen fan since I was a kid, but I grew up listening to their Greatest Hits compilations, rather than whole albums. I did give a few of their albums a try as an adult, and though I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy them, I didn't revisit them either. I honestly regret not discovering this specific album sooner. Obviously it contains some classics that I've heard thousands of times, but there were so many new tracks on here that just blew me away. The only track I didn't particularly enjoy was Tenement Funster, and that's mostly down to the vocals. Freddie was absolutely iconic and I think not having his vocals here is just a let down. Highlights: - "Brighton Rock" - granted it gets a little bit wanky, but it's still a banger - "Killer Queen" - classic. Regular listen already. - "Lily of the Valley" - this one was a new one for me, and it literally gave me goosebumps. Loved it. - "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" - enjoyed the completely different feel and instrumentation of this track. Didn't expect this to be a 5 (though I suspected it might be a 4), but it's just so good. I'm also going to have to buy the sheet music for this album because it had so much good piano.

I guess since the songs all segue into each other is why you don’t hear more than just one or two on the radio. Great album to be taken as an album.

My favourite album so far in this journey. The vocal and band performance are just outstanding!!

5 stars are not enough for this album and for these legends. I need a special mark: 'an absolute undying legend that echoes through centuries!'

Killer Queen was the only song I was already familiar with, and I consider myself a fan of Queen. This album totally rocks! Feels a little less polished than the Queen music I'm familiar with (although the description says that's not the case in comparison to the early early stuff). I suppose I just need more Queen deep tracks 😁

Starts off with two classics and then is non-stop bangers

Such an amazing album, from the quality of the recording, to the songwriting, to the Greatest Lead Singer of All Time. What's not to like here? So many tracks that go unnoticed in the lexicon of Queen's catalog.

It’s good but not my favorite. I very much understand that this is GOOD music but it doesn’t do it for me

Queen at their peak.

One of my favourite albums! How to describe? Wikipedia hedges with "heavy rock / glam rock"; I can't see this as "glam rock" (because very little musically in common with T.Rex or Gary Glitter), I'd say "heavy rock / camp cabaret", because there's super-high drama across a broad emotional range, including heavy rock and pomp and mawkish close-up sentiment. (Wikipedia also brings me heaps of other info I hadn't come across before, v v interesting to a fan :-) If/when I write a book about this album, there’ll definitely be a chapter about the cover. There’s a lot that could be said about just the front cover image and all its signifiers, but, moving right along: I could rave about each of the songs - almost all 10/10. Each instant knows where it's going, and is arranged and performed for maximum impact - the emotional journey is well managed - a tour de force!! It's Incredibly Wonderful, 10/10 :-)

My first Queen album of this list! The lead in to Brighton Rock was so good. I adore Freddie’s voice, and that guitar added so much to this first track. Moving into Killer Queen, this track is an absolute classic and even though I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite Queen song, it’s always worth a listen! Tenement Funster is such a lovely blend of moments that almost feel sorrowful, but then it picks back up and the music becomes hopeful. Flick of the Wrist almost gives Halloween vibes but I’m so here for it. Lily of the valley is beautiful! A Queen piano ballad, yes please! Now I’m Here always scratches my itch for some damn good rhythm guitar. In the Lap of the Gods isn’t really my thing, but it’s musically fantastic! Stone Cold Crazy is a track I could dance to all day. The drums, the guitar, everything just comes together so well and is so much fun. Dear Friends is a sweet little interlude. Misfire has a good little vibe to it. It’s something that I can dance to while doing mundane everyday things. Bring Back Leroy Brown was the kind of fun, out of the box stuff that I expect from Queen. It’s different from the rest of the album, but still quintessentially Queen. She makes me and in the lap of the gods (revisited) were great closers so an amazing album. I liked this In the Lap of the Gods significantly more than the first one. It built with that guitar and was all the more better for it. 5/5 ⭐️, 10/10. Amazing album, amazing band. 45/1089

Just pure Rock power. one of the greatest bands to ever do it. Brian's Tone, Freddy's voice, the operatic sound. And Stone Cold Crazy is one of the greatest rock songs of all time.

Beautiful. A breath of fresh air after the dreary generic rock albums that have dominated this list as of late.

Yay! Love me some early Queen. This time I totally agree with the list. If there's should be 3 Queen albums, it should be this 3-album run. If II and A Night At The Opera are a bit more on epic side, this one show their more funny and campy side and this is pure joy. Fav tracks: Brighton Rock, Flist Of The Wrick, Now I'm Here, In The Lap Of The Gods (first one, not one that everyone remembers) and Bring Back That Leroy Brown. Also this album includes my favourite Queen deep cut - She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes). Doesn't gets better than this.

Banging.

Queen is simply fantastic

normal

I’ve always loved Queen, one of my favorite bands from the 70’s. Love me some Freddie Mercury

One of the best Queen records I've ever heard. I was very surprised at just how great the deep cuts were. Roger Taylor's vocals on Tenement Funster hold their own in a band with one of the greatest singers of all time. This is hard rock queen at their best. Standout Tracks: Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy

Queen is just one of them ones. So much talent on display here. It grooves and it rocks. The performance is so tight and diverse. The songwriting is awesome. The tones are gorgeous. The classics are classic of course, and for good reason, but the rest of the album is also stunning. The song transitions are tasteful and make the album such an experience. There isn't one song on the entire record that doesn't blow me away for at least a moment. Ridiculous, incredible album. 5.0/5

We love Queeeeen!

I LOVE THIS, I love queen. I've listen to this album even before this was recommended. I LOVE QUEEN

goated

This album is incredible & was ahead of the game at the time. The mixture of songs with in your face driving guitar riffs, fantastic song writing & incredible vocals & production makes this one a complete package.

Brighton Rock - the guitar is so cool. Is the “lady” singer also Freddie? Or another member of Queen? - “Oh, Rock of Ages, do not crumble/ Love is breathing still” - Long ass song for a 40 min album! I guess we get some shorties later on? Killer queen - Oh! I think I’ve heard this song - His voice is so pretty. The harmonies are lovely. Such clear pronunciation, which is a lost art, it seems - “Caviar and cigarettes, extraordinarily nice” - I wanna be a killer queen!! - Perfume from Paris/ Naturally 😂 - The guitar again! Just marching along. Tenement Funster - fine, but not Freddy. Right? I didn’t know anyone else sang in Queen, aside from harmonizing. Oops. Flick of the Wrist - is this about their label? Lol Lily of the Valley - “But why does everyone tell me ‘no’?” - so pretty and theatrical! - These harmonies! The rises and falls!!! Now I’m Here - around around around! - “What became of you and me/ America’s new bride to be” In the Lap of the Gods - well, they remastered it, so it must be good, right? Let’s see Stone Cold Crazy - this would be so fun live - Energy!! Dear Friends - this feels like Hey Jude for friends - Platonic comfort after heartbreak/ loss - Nice palate cleanser Misfire - cute! Surprisingly pop-y - “Your gun is loaded and pointing my way/ there’s only one bullet, so don’t delay” - Sexualllll Bring Back That Leroy Brown - Jangly! Honky tonk-y! - When did “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” come out? 1973! This album came out 1974. Hm! - Ukelele!! She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos) - this is so… 70’s? It’s like The Smiths. So pretty and dreamy groovy In The Lap of the Gods (Revisited) (Remastered) - nice ok

I grew up listening to Queens greatest hits, so I recognized Killer Queen and Now I'm Here from this album. It was great hearing some of their lesser known works. They were/are so talented and had such a unique sound. I wish I could have seen them live! In the Lap of the Gods was awesome! It is so impressive how they layered their voices over and over again to make it sound like they had a whole choir singing along.

1/16 Classic Queen album. Not much more to be said about it. A masterpiece

Amazing album!

day six

so fucking good

queen……

Absolutely brilliant, I've listened to it 3 times already!

My favorite Queen album. I've listened to this hundreds of times.

It’s very hard for me to be objective about Queen because it’s all wonderful

My bad, I really disliked their version of prog rock on the first album and never went back to listen to another one. You can see the theatrical, retro, vaudeville seeds of Night at the Opera coming on Sheer Heart Attack, but I love this Queen Uncaged, Brian May Unleashed full on 45 minutes. Such a great surprise, wild epic music by a freaking great rock band instead of wild epic music by a freaking great choral society, all respect due to Opera, this is by far my preferred version.

Every song sounded unique but also uniquely queen and I love when bands can make good diverse music that can easily be identified as that specific band. Also grew up with so much queen so I have a spot in my heart for queen and wide mouthed Mr. Mercury

I always underestimate just how good Queen is and how much I love their music. I was skeptical since the only one I recognized was Killer Queen, but wow! Will definitely be going back to this one.

What a good fucking album The range on brighton rock, the classic Killer Queen, Now I'm here, Stone Cold Crazy, just fantastic.

i understood why the band queen is soo popular. i loved it

it was good

Es queen

I love queen so muchh Killer Queen and Lilly of the Valley on top

Cheery and upbeat throwback to start off the new year

This is an INCREDIBLE album, I want to get it on vinyl! The transitions between songs were sick. My fav tracks were Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Tenement Funster, How I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy, and Misfire. Sooooo freaking good.

I’d only ever listened to Bohemian Rhapsody before this and I wasn’t sure what to expect but I loved it!

Queen at their peak. A rich and varied album with incredible musicianship throughout. Arguably some of the best guitar and vocals ever recorded. It's a long time since I listened to the whole album and hearing it now on a half-decent sound system, I'm amazed at how fresh and dynamic it still sounds.

each track got better and better as i listened holy shit

Early Queen was quite special. Rock opera specialists. Love this.

It's always fun to read a slew of 1-, 2-, and 3-star reviews where the reviewers in question are clearly short of material with which to criticise an obviously great album. Because Sheer Heart Attack is just that – goddamn great – and the most you can do to slam it is assume Flick of the Wrist is about masturbation (it isn't) or say it sounds like they're having way too much fun (they are). One reviewer gave the album 1 star, writing: "For Queen, showcasing a technical guitar solo or vocal gymnastics matters more than writing entertaining or moving songs." Christ. You must be fun at concerts. The audience member always comes first, right? Do you want Freddie Mercury to jump off the stage and kiss you? Another reviewer gave SHA 3 stars (and would've given 2.5 if they could), and had only positive things to say about it. "Gay as fuck rock 'n' roll"? What the heck more do you want? Seriously, though, this is fantastic. One of four Queen albums (the others being Queen, Queen II, and ANATO) that one can claim to be their finest, and also probably the best album of 1974 – with the only real competition being Steely Dan's Pretzel Logic and Mitchell's Court and Spark. But this one absolutely bursts with energy and creativity, giving it the slight edge. Brighton Rock is inarguably one of the coolest, most creative guitar solos in rock – certainly in rock up to that point. The riffs are excellent, the chord progression in the main part of the song is nifty... plus, Taylor's drumming complements the guitarwork perfectly. Love the various vocal styles employed by Mercury too. Then Killer Queen, a slick, glamorous piano-based rock track with another mind-blowingly great solo. It's no surprise this took off as much as it did. The three-track medley contains two of the best song-to-song transitions in all of music (rivalling some of Pink Floyd's best), and the middle song (Flick Of The Wrist) in particular is so, so great. Nearly on par with Death On Two Legs from their follow-up album, which is (in my opinion) their most flawless song. Then there's Now I'm Here, with an adventurous riff and the sick echo-panning of the vocals. Side 2 is even more diverse. Beginning with Taylor's impressive banshee scream, In The Lap Of The Gods showcases a strange vocal filter on Mercury before entering a repeating mantra-like section for the second half. It's impossible to compare a song like this to any other artist, though another reviewer tried (and failed) to compare it to Pink Floyd. Stone Cold Crazy is thrash metal before the genre was invented, and good god, it's fantastic. So, so fast. You blink and it's over. After a short, sweet ballad in Dear Friends and the cheeky upbeat pop track Misfire, we reach perhaps the most impressive song on the record, recording-wise. There must be at least several dozen vocal tracks in Bring Back That Leroy Brown, not to mention the large array of honky-tonk/old-timey instruments and hilarious little musical fills. She Makes Me is initially a slow, earnest love ballad, but its meaning gets a lot more haunting on relistens. The album ends with a refreshing piano track that calls for audience interaction: In The Lap Of The Gods... Revisited. Adding an explosion at the end is maybe a little kitschy, but hey, it's Queen. Let the boys have some fun. 5/5 Key tracks: Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Flick Of The Wrist, Stone Cold Crazy, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, In The Lap Of The Gods... Revisited

I recently listened to Queen’s Sheer Heart Attack from start to finish for the first time, and it was a real treat. While “Killer Queen” is the familiar highlight, the other tracks hold their own — varied, energetic, and highly listenable. I’ll need to sit with the lyrics more closely; there’s a sense the album is trying to say something deeper beneath the surface. Overall it’s an adventurous record that rewards repeat listens.

very very good i like

i love it, definitely deserves its own listening

Absolute classic

Fabulous 👌

it’s classic queen what can i say

Beser geits nid

Classic

Very good album, love Queen now! Not on my beloved ones tho.. I liked Killer Queen enough to put in my playlist I made for this!

Queen were my favourite band in my teenage years, and I still like them a lot, but I haven’t listened to this album in full in what must be a decade. It was really fun to revisit this one, and I’m glad to say this holds up great. It’s not my favourite album of theirs, nor is it without flaws, but it’s still very good, and I can’t tell if it’s just the nostalgia or my tastes changing as I’ve grown older, but I think I like this even more than I did when I was younger. 4.5/5

No skips

Back in the days, this wasn't one of my favorite Queen albums, although I had all of them. Killer Queen and Now I'm Here were always some of my favorite songs. Now, after decades of not listening to this album, I can appreciate it much more for its spectrum of styles and genres.

It's queen, 5/5 every time.

I mean…it’s Queen.

Great album, on e of Queen's classics

I didn't actually get to listen to this one as closely as I would've liked, just had a busier day, but it was really enjoyable with relatable and powerful vocals in addition to having plenty of fun songs

2nd album with group. Good Songs - Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Misfire, Bring Back that Leroy Brown, and In the Lap of the Gods…Revisited. Bad Songs - Tenement Funster, Flick of the Wrist, Lily of the Valley, Now I’m Here, In the Lap of the Gods, Stone Cold Crazy, Dear Friends, and She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos). Unlike some other people I can respect great songs like Killer Queen even if this might not be the greatest album.

It's Queen. It's great.

I like their experiments. There are some jazz vibes. Nice. And of course, the famous Killer Queen

of course

Why Queen so good?

A rock and roll masterpiece with all the grandiosity Queen did at their best!

One of my all time favourite albums from my favourite band. I still have a track or two that I'm not fond of but I love the flow between some of the songs, the slightly concept album of it all and the still young ambition of the band. Brian May was coming back from serious illness and felt the need to prove himself again, coming up with the deceptively complex solo for Killer Queen and the bombast of Brighton Rock. It became a cornerstone of the live show, allowing him to show off his unique triple harmony delay with the Red Special and the wall of Vox amps that became his signature. This is a band still on the rise, pre Bohemian Rhapsody and it has all the swagger still of a more established band.

The problem with greatest hits albums is they prevent some from trying the original albums; thus, I missed this one growing up. Beautifully constructed songs, with several surprises along the way, leads to a record that’s really easy to listen to over and over. I’ll be back.

Brighton Rock, Killer Queen

You can't dislike Queen and this is a great album. Perhaps not considered their best, but for me it's phenomenal. Serious hits like "Killer Queen" and "Now I'm Here" are here along with other amazing tracks like "Stone Cold Crazy", "Brighton Rock" and "In The Lap of the Gods (Revisited)". You can hear Brian's Red Special singing in all its glory. Superb stuff.

bloody brilliant! but it's queen so...i loved this album, especially as i haven't really listened to the full thing before.

Still one of my favourite albums

Excellent and oft overlooked

Probably my favorite Queen album. This sits exactly at the juncture between Queen as a hard rock band and Queen as extravagant pop-rock sensations. 5.0/5.0: Iconic

10/10 love queen

Loved it all the way through.

For some reason, I was never that much into Queen. This, I only knew "Stone Cold Crazy" and "Killer Queen" from "Sheer Heart Attack". After listening to that album twice now I must admit that all tracks are worth a listen and most of them are really cool. Apart from the mentioned well known songs I like "Now I'm Here", "In the Lap of the Gods" as well as the triad of "Tenement Funster"; "Flick of the Wirst" and "Lily of the Valley" that together already give an idea of "Bohemian Rhapsody" that would be published one year later. Nice one!

Pretty classic in my opinion. Queen is probably the pinnacle of rock in the 70s. They were revolutionary both in rock sound (Brian May's guitar) and operatic singing (Freddie Mercury's impeccable vocals). I think this is a contender for Queen's best studio album in my opinion. I didn't really think it was going to start out great but man did it impress me listening all the way through. Great album and defiantly worth the listen. Favorite Tracks: Brighton Rock, Killer, Flick of the Wrist, Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy, Bring Back Leroy Brown, In The Lap of the Gods... Revisited Rating: 5/5

Pure entertainment!

Brighton Rock mega album opener, guitar so good Killer Queen goes without saying, lyrically unbelievable and just a timeless track. Now I'm here really good track got everything, really gritty guitar riff that sounds familiar. Funky. Bring back Leroy brown really interesting, seems ragtime 50s inspired but so different from anything else on the album.

Amazing rock album and lots of little gems that never get any attention.

Amei!

Five stars, I think it’d prob the only fill queen album worth it all the way through. Guitars rip, vocals are solid, the hits really hit. An enjoyable experience

I wrote a whole thing about how impactful this album was, and how it does a phenomenal job of showcasing Queen’s range beyond their greatest hits. Alas, it has somehow disappeared into the pale of the internet. 5 stars for the Seas of Rhye reference in Lily of the Valley.

Queen - great electric guitar solos.

Not sure I have every listened to anything other than a Queen greatest hits album, so was excited to listen to this. For some reason the opening track reminded me of something "The Who" would have made, as well as some other tracks. It is solid rock, with some classic bangers that are world famous(and rightly so). Mercury was quite the genius when you put together his showmanship, style, lyrics, and creativity.

Absolute banger

Despite finding Queen overplayed and never really revisiting the now, and the fact they are the ultimate singles band, this remains a classic album. It might be the only time they wrote a genuinely brilliant, cohesive album that doesn’t feel like a collection of great songs. One of the great British rock albums.

A great display of Freddie's range, as well as mixing heavy rock with orchestral sounds and harmonies (like in In the Lap of Gods for example) Killer queen is a pure 10/10 song. This album deserves high praise.

Yes!!!!!***

this album might be the first 10 out of 10 on this list. Queen is one of the all-time great as everyone knows and this project just reassured this in my head from timeless Classics like killer Queen to songs I haven’t heard in my life would be became instant Classics in my head like in the lap of the gods this project was entertaining throughout with incredible in instrumentals combine with Freddie’s divine vocals

Awesome

Aside from having one of the best-named albums possibly ever, this is Queen right in the middle of their best period. Queen II, this, A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races are their four best albums. They’ve found their sound, now it evolves and refines across these albums. A great listen from start to finish.

Good hits and doesn’t overstay its welcome. Which it’s very much welcome in my playlists.

Glam/hard rock at it's best and here in this album more straight-forward that the previous more progressive ones resulting to a more commercial break-through sound. All songs are amazing but my personal picks are: Brighton Rock(the guitar solos here is just wow), Tenement Funster though it's a Roger Taylor song, the delivery of the band gives justice to his vision, Flick of the Wrist following is a masterpiece, agressive where you need it with amazing lyrics as with all Freddie Mercury songs, In the lap of the Gods makes you wonder about the operatic high range of a voice,so beautiful but the Revisited one made me sing along with the crowd ''wo wo la la la wo-wo wo la la-wah wah ooh'' introducing their final big arena sound, Misfire is only 1:50 long but managed somehow to get me good-it's the guitars, She Makes me is a Brian May song, more of a slow burner,an ode to a woman with nice vibes that they change a bit towards the end getting more darker with police samples and heavy breathing. Extraordinary album.

Queen is great, and this is a great fucking album. Stone Cold Crazy is one of my favorite deep cut Queen songs. No complaints.

Great album!

Queen's best album hands down. All their records are stylistically all over the place. This is the only record where they nail everything. Extra point for inventing thrash metal with Stone Cold Crazy.

Absolutely lovely! And I just discovered that, in the beginning, all the members of Queen did everything—so it was a wonderful surprise to hear the voices of Deacon, Taylor, and May. I feel like every year we see fewer and fewer of these complete, multi-talented artists :-(

Wow, I'm so used to thinking of Queen mostly in terms of the sublime weirdness of Bohemian Rhapsody that I kind of forget they can just straight rock out And, er, pop out, if that's a thing. I only remembered hearing Killer Queen off this record, and of course that was great, but so was the whole rest of the first part that sounded kinda like Lynyrd Skynrd, and the second part that sounded kinda like the sweet pop facet of the Beatles. Faves: Tenement Funster, Flick of the Wrist, Now I'm Here, Misfire, She Makes Me.

Great album, classic theatrical and hard rocking Queen.

My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. Can you tell I am a JOJO fan and what my favorite track is? Fav song - Killer Queen 5/5

Never heard this album in full before so finally got a chance to do that. Amazing. Simply brilliant. It sounded perfect, complex enough to still catch the attention but digestible to not cause any "WTF?!"-moments unlike some entries on this list.

A super creative and fun album. I’m always going to love queen.

Though not my favorite album from queen, I wont deny a 5 star review because frankly they are musical geniuses!!

Can’t go wrong with Queen honestly. Each song was a hit to me. Even the theatrics of “In the lap of the Gods”. I really enjoyed the melodic chorus. These guys have always sounded great.

Very well synced, wonderfully produced, easy and nice to listen to, Perfect!!!!

Really really liked. Only heard Killer Queen before, so wasn’t sure how the rest of the album was going to go. Surprisingly varied, unsurprisingly fun. :) Favs: Brighton Rock; In The Lap Of The Gods… Revisited; Flick Of The Wrist; Stone Cold Crazy, Lily Of The Valley

early queen is my favourite queen. their first 5 albums are absolutely unmatched. how good is flick of the wrist? how good is all of this? always great to revisit.

This one will always be my favourite Queen record! It has rocking moments, it has slower songs, and it's an incredible performance from start to end. The musicality of it is on another level and very complex while not making it sound hard, and it has certain moments that energize you to the core. Truly amazing record.

All Queen, all the time.

YES!! 🔥 now this is some good shit I relistened to A Night At The Opera before this album and played both back to back. I think I prefer this one ever so slightly Banger after banger. What a talent Freddie was 5 ⭐️

10/10 song every song

This album goes from prog to pop to proto metal to dixieland jazz and everything else in between and they do it all so well. Amazing band and amazing album.

It’s queen. What else do I say? Fuck it’s good

I feel like I’ve really liked everything I’ve heard from Queen so far. Really grand album. Freddie Mercury’s vocals are iconic. The harmonies are so lush. The band’s tight. Really rocking album. I was pretty baffled by how good it was while listening to it.

Really enjoyed the album.

I needed this

Always considered myself a Queen fan but really only knew the hits. Brian May shines on this album

What a great surprise! I’ve known Queen’s hits forever. The album was a revelation! I loved every bit of it.

Fab album!

Brighton Rock is a solid opener for the album, featuring great guitar work. Leading into "Killer Queen," catchy lyrics and a solid musical structure prevail throughout. Tenement Funster shortly slows down the album before going into an almost eerie Flick of the Wrist. Great transition from Flick of the Wrist to Lily of the Valley, which has a ballady feel. Now I'm Here starts to go back to the classic Queen rock roots with strong guitar and harmonized vocals by the band throughout. In The Lap of the Gods is not my favourite. However Stone Cold Crazy is a perfect example of why I love Queen. Dear Friends is a good filler ballad, but nothing crazy. Misfire has great vibes and is pretty unique to the album. The start of Bring Back That Leroy Brown is almost too fast, good song with oldies vibes. She Makes Me is so far my favourite slower song on the album. Well, I'm happy they revisited In The Lap of the Gods because it's much better than the first version.

I prefer early Queen to later Queen and this may be my favourite, although that can, and does, change. Sheer Heart Attack works as an album. It opens with the powerful one-two of “Brighton Rock” and “Killer Queen”, both classics. There are hard rock, metal even, of “Now I’m Here” and, especially, “Stone Cold Crazy” (as much as progenitor of thrash metal as, say, Black Sabbath’s “Symptom of the Universe”), the former sitting somewhere between the glam rock of the likes of the Sweet and the prog of Yes. “Tenement Funster” is the first great Roger Taylor vocal is not unlike Mott the Hoople. And then there are the idiosyncratic numbers that work in the context of the album but probably only there - “Dear Friends”, a piano ballad with classical choral harmonies; the frankly, deliciously, ridiculous “Bring Back That Leroy Brown” with more complex harmonies, a Charleston rhythm, and banjo! “She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos) despite what its title might lead one to picture is largely acoustic guitars and Brian May’s lead vocal. “Lap of the Gods” in two parts revisits the fantasy prog of the first two albums; but much of the album looks forward to the albums, and spectacular success, to come.

Love Queen

Classic.

Having only listened to the Queen’s greatest hits cds, I lacked the idea that Queen was a capitol B Band, and not just Freddie Mercury and the gang. The ideas spread across these 40 minutes can only be achieved be the varied writing style of the four of them. Killer Queen is the big hit of this album, and for good reason. But the other songs on here deserve as much respect. The three-peat of Tenement Funster-Flick of the Wrist-Lily of the Valley is so well produced and cohesive that I failed to realize it was three separate songs at first. The absolutely blast that is Stone Cold Crazy, the slower songs like Dear Friends. Hell there’s even like a reprise or a reimagining of a song that came 5 songs before. And it works! God I have been missing out on Queen albums.

I've given a lot of 5s recently but this is gonna be another! Never listened to any of Queen's albums before doing this list, and had Queen II already, so this was a real evolution of their sound from prog to glam. It absolutely rocks, right from the insane solo of Brighton Rock, and Stone Cold Crazy is an especially fun song. The complexity of the arrangements (especially vocals) give a good indicator of where they would go on A Night At The Opera, but this is a belter in its own right. Just a really fun time

Excellent

Amazing album, one of queen's best.

So many memories from this.

On first glance, this doesn't seem like it would be much of anything, and to anyone other than a Queen fan, there's only one recognizable song on here with "Killer Queen". Listening to this entire collection reveals a whole treasure trove of some of their best deep cuts, including "Now I'm Here", "Stone Cold Crazy", and the absolute best on the album, the opener, "Brighton Rock". Each song flows into the other and is perfectly placed in a harmonious progression. The flaws may be a couple of lackluster tracks, but the positives are numerous. The guitar solos are insatiable, the harmonies blend together wonderfully, and Freddie's voice is impeccably outstanding. Words cannot even describe how perfect his voice was for rock music. All in all, this is a really neat look into their catalogue as a whole that demonstrates both variety and quality. This is one of the most overlooked works that glam rock had to offer.

Not a lot of hits on this album (apart from Killer Queen) but it's Classic Queen and really good (glam) rock. Maybe not their absolute best album but still worth a 5 to me.

The Good: If you’re going to have one… The Bad: Who wants to have one? The Ugly: Imagining being found on the floor, after having had one, and maybe having soiled one’s undies… What have I been smoking? Nothing… What a lovely album! My mother’s favorite! And though not my favorite Queen album, it was such a pleasure to listen to that I’ve been humming Leroy Brown all day! Obviously, this album is getting the highest mark… nothing else to mention...

Ooops - will listen tomorrow Ah yes remember this well - and it’s not aged

Even though Queen is going to go on to make grander records this one stands on it own. These guys are just song machines and they work so well together - incredible band. This is a 5 on its own and is the beginning of a killer 3 album streak from them. I will absolutely listen to this one again. 5/5

Only knew Killer Queen going in. I feel like there's so much to Queen I didn't even know existed (stone cold crazy), executing on so many genres with incredible musicality. 5* Highlights: killer queen, stone cold crazy

GENIAL.

Amazing

Overall: 9/10 This is my favourite Queen album. Every song hits so hard. I love the mini suite in the first half but the two big highlights for me are Killer Queen and Stone Cold Crazy. Killer Queen is such an interesting song to me. I've never listened to the first two Queen albums but I can imagine that this was a big step up from those in terms of originality cause it's a song that still sounds so fresh today. Stone Cold Crazy is the heaviest, most metal song that Queen ever made. You can hear how it influenced speed and thrash metal. Metallica even covered it. This album rocks hard and still shows off how tender these guys could get. It's also the most complete album they ever released and I will always recommend it for newcomers to Queen. Fav Song: Stone Cold Crazy Least Fav Song: Tenement Funster (sorry, Roger)

Just brilliant

Queen is great! I totally understand why this was their breakout album, amazing stuff

listened to it like 3 or 4 times today... LOVED every second of it, actually when it finished i was like "already?" because i was enjoying myself so much (and then id play it again, oops). of course i already knew Queen but ive never really cared to listen to their music and i liked it a lot. saying that Killer Queen is my favorite might be too local, but, oh well, its the truth! I also liked Stone Cold Crazy. yeah id definitely listen to it again; i wish another Queen album popped out!

not really my thing but excellently put together

- An absolutely great record. They are hitting their stride on this one. Under-rated, criminally. -

Fav: Killer Queen Least Fav: Dear Friends Finally! A Queen album without a bunch of filler songs

queen cannot write a song that isn't good

This was probably the first Queen album that highlighted their uniqueness, and laid the foundations for what was to come. It's a bit of a travesty that many of the great songs on this album are not as well known as some of their later tracks. I guess that highlights just how much quality output they produced.

15/05/2025 Only ever listened to the classics before, I enjoyed this album.

Solid no frills queen

I already love queen

A huge part of the soundtrack to my mid-teens. Played it incessantly, still know every chord and word, every track a killer, dragged me into a brave new world. Brighton Rock one of two songs I know with the word 'tarry'. The other of course being... ... ... Come Up And See Me (Make Me Smile) 🙂

Is this the fabled, “Wall-to-wall bangers, no skips”? Has it finally happened?? Is there the potential for 3 5s??? This reporter eagerly waits to find out. Where was all this music the in Bohemian Rhapsody movie? Only one potential “Misfire” on the album. Favourite song: Stone Cold Crazy.

These guys can do no wrong. This isn't even their best album and it's better than everything we've had so far!

Overraskande progressivt.

Incredible. I've never listened to a Queen album before and I am thankful I did, it took me on a journey in my cubicle. The guitar, the vocals, the piano, the lyrics, amazing. Seems like the best version of itself.

For my money, one of the best rock albums of the mid-1970s. https://open.substack.com/pub/richcain/p/project-1001-sheer-heart-attack-by?r=4ztyq&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

Under-appreciated album that can be overlooked when you consider the rest of the band’s catalogue. This album is so good - from cover to cover.

it’s sheer heart attack

One of the many great Queen albums. Fave Tracks: - Brighton Rock - Killer Queen - Stone Cold Crazy

This was already one of my favorite albums ever so this is an easy rating for me. That said, it's always nice to have an excuse to listen to more Queen!

absolutely different

best album from this band, extremely cheesy i fucking love it

Amazing! Still fresh

I'd never heard the earlier progy Queen. Loved this - listened to it, enjoyed it. Might listen to it again.

That's a good one.

Brillant!

It's a Queen Album. Of Course it's 5 Stars

Probably my favorite Queen album.

Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy.....fuckin solid album!!! This is really the album where they started transitioning to the pop rock sound that they became famous for. Favorite songs: Stone Cold Crazy, Killer Queen, Now I'm Here, Flick of the Wrist, Brighton Rock, Tenement Funster, Bring Back That Leroy Brown Least favorite songs: In the Lap of the Gods, She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stelettos) 5/5
