Reviews (page 4 of 13)
This album sees Queen emerge out of their hard rock beginnings and step towards their unique sound. Though some tracks are still very much steeped in 70s rock, they begin to introduce new sounds gleaned from a wide array of genres including vaudeville, opera, rockabilly, and skiffle. The result is a the suite like theatrical music that would define Queen’s sound. It is a huge step forward from them, and shows their willingness to experiment and try something that at the time, they were unsure was going to sell records.
My favorite Queen album and I fucking love Queen.
Ok this is straight up the best rock I have ever heard on this list. No other band can compare to the energy Queen has! 5!
Queen's best album. It's got the band's best guitar work, and probably their best drum work too. There are still a few silly Queen songs, but there's so many hard rock moments throughout. I love diverse albums like this one. Their vocals sound so tight, as always. Brighton Rock is awesome, my favorite Queen guitar solo for sure. In the Lap of the Gods is just crazy and magnificent. Flick of the Wrist is a favorite of mine too. Queen was basically my gateway into both hard rock and prog rock, so I'll always have a soft spot for this album and for Queen II. I'm convinced the only people who hate Queen have just been severely overexposed to their music, or hate Queen's annoying fanbase.
No way the first one is one of my favourite albums of all time?? That's so funny oml. Brighton Rock - Remains one of my favourite songs ever and definitely my favourite Queen song. LOVE the instrumental in between the lyrics. This song is mostly instrumental and oh my Lord I love it so much - 10/10. Killer Queen - What an iconic song. Freddie perfectly pains a picture of this woman and her habits. Almost to the point that we know her. I remember listening to this song so much in 2019 (2018?) when I was in Lanzarote. The opening finger snapping makes me excited every time I hear it, as I know what iconic song is about to come - 10/10 Tenement Funster - The only Roger song from this album, sadly. I’ve always loved Roger’s songs. From this song to ‘Fun It’ to songs about fucking cars.. his songs are brilliant - 9/10 Flick of the Wrist - What a beautiful transition from the last song. I love this one too. I can’t pretend I know what they’re on about but it’s a great song. Like that’s a lot of big words, Freddie - 9/10 Lily of the Valley - Another beautiful transition. The soft ‘Baby you’ve been had’ is amazing, as the phrase was used already in the previous song, signalling a tonal shift. The harmonies are beautiful and I appreciate the reference to ‘Seven Seas of Rhye’ - 10/10 Now I’m Here - The tonal shift quickly changes back to the rock epics that came before. ‘Now I’m Here’ is one of the most Rock-n-roll songs of this album (‘Flick of the Wrist’ and ‘Stone Cold Crazy’ being another two). The song was written about Mott the Hoople, who Queen toured with early in their career. An altogether great song! - 9/10 In The Lap of the Gods - Roger’s falsetto cuts like a goddamn knife oh my God. The first ‘Lap of the Gods’ song on the album and.. it’s not my favourite of the two, but I still love it to pieces. The start is very all over the place but I can’t pretend like that’s a bad thing at all. The revisited version is even better but this one is really fucking good too. You know what? - 10/10 Stone Cold Crazy - Here comes some more Rock-n-roll! This is an amazing song too. It’s high and beautiful and I think it really shows what kind of an album this is. I love Freddie’s fast-paced vocals, they really add to the beauty of this song. The chorus is brilliant, basically just being the title said twice with the ‘y’know?’ at the end of the second one. Simple. Amazing - 10/10 Dear Friends - That more sombre mood is brough back again. ‘Dear Friends’ is a strange transition from the previous song. It’s never been my favourite song on the album. In fact, it may be my least favourite. It’s still an elegant song though - 9/10 Misfire - John wasn’t really hiding what this song is about, was he? I’m not even gonna talk about the lyrics too much because… I know what it’s about John I see you. Wonderful song anyway - 10/10 Bring Back That Leroy Brown - Oh my God I used to listen to this RELIGIOUSLY back in the day.. like 2 years ago. I love this song. Who’s Leroy Brown? The baddest man in the whole damn town? Some sort of President? I don’t know but he has at least 2 great songs about it - 10/10 She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos) - What a Freddie title! Although this is a Brian song. A nice little track with wonderful vocals - 9/10 In The Lap Of The Gods (Revisited) - Oh what a beautiful song to end the album on. I don’t have much to say about the revisited track, but it’s one of my favourites from the album. You can practically hear the stadiums full of adoring fans singing along - 10/10 Coming in at 9.6153844, Sheer Heart Attack is an easy 10/10. The band really came together to make a classic for the decades. Their next album is often regarded as their magnum opus, but I think this one might be even better…
"Brighton Rock"......THAT'S how you start off an album. God save Queen.
rock-tastic!
Amazing classic rock
Amazing. Queen has perfect harmonies, their use of dynamics, mix of guitar and choral quartet is iconic. Freddie died too young.
Fantastic album. Plays so well all the way through and has a few bangers like Killer Queen. Wish more music was made like this
I’m a simple man, I hear queen I vote five stars
With Queen 1 easily my favorite Queen album. More diverse and original than than the later albums, the other (than Freddy mercury) band members are of more influence to the music.
Killer queen... ¡Vinilo!
I mean it’s fucking queen it’s gotta be a positive review… The album opens with Brighton rock one of the most rocking songs on the album, I love how it builds up from the fairground noises and then Brian May’s guitar solo just shows his power as a guitarist that we’ve never seen before ( even if it is very long). Then is the most popular song off the album and that is killer queen and it’s honestly my 2nd favourite off the really big queen hits ( favourite is obviously bohemian rhapsody) but yeah killer queen is just perfect! < three song medley time> Starting with Tenement Funster this one is a great spiralling builder of a track with one of one the most kick arse explosive choruses of all time. But flick of the wrist is my favourite one of the medley being a very quirky for the sake of it type song ( especially the verses) but I love it! Lilly of the valley is okay just feels like a coda to flick of the wrist. < end of medley> Now I’am here is a standard issue rock banger, something that is really essential in a good queen album, it’s one of those queen songs that work perfectly with stereo speakers, but honestly it’s not a favourite on this album for me but that’s probably because there are so many brilliant songs. In the lap of the gods is a bit odd for the sake of it kinda music but like flick of the wrist earlier this is executed perfectly so it doesn’t matter. Stone cold crazy is the heaviest queen has ever went in their career and honestly great song can’t fault! Dear friends is a short heavenly sounding piano track yeah it’s okay just short. Same thing with misfire but this song is guitar based and just a better song. Bring back that Leroy brown is a slightly dumb but fun little piano skiffle but still really enjoyable. Now for queens most under appreciated song she makes me ( stormtrooper in stilettos) it’s a song that grows as it develops from a slow happy clappy acoustic song to an anthemic rocker with the coolest coda on any song off the album. Now for the closer in the lap of the gods ( revisited) well it’s not really revisited as it’s a completely different song in general with this one being a more straightforward anthem apparently meant to be a sing along song live before we will rock you existed. This album slaps there isn’t anything bad and all of the less interesting moments are tiny blips so it’s obviously a 5/5.
Brian May shines on this album, for me his best work. Killer Queen is the perfect single. Favorite Songs: Killer Queen and Lily of the Valley.
Queen is a band I’ve mostly heard on best of albums. Hadn’t heard this one before. I thought it was a exceptional album. A lot of interest throughout.
Revolutionary rock.
Sonzao, curto há tempos
One of Queen's best with a lot of songs that I think should have been bigger hits than they were. The big standouts were 'Brighton Rock,' 'Killer Queen' obviously, and 'Stone Cold Crazy.' Amazing that Queen could put together such an astounding album with great lyrics, vocals, instrumentals, and production and it's not really one of their most talked about.
Ok I'm not a huge Queen fan, but only because I've heard the hits to death. But this only Killer Queen, my fave on, and loads I havn't heard. And it's great, polished glam rock. Joyful.
This album is all over the place, much like the members of the band in the fairly weird cover photo. Which can we take a moment to appreciate Freddie's one nail polished hand, unbuttoned pants, Brian's weird silver bolo/neck tassel and the wildly different expressions. Anger, amazement, amusement and ... Freddie. Anyway, I appreciate the momentum carried throughout. I might even call this a "fun romp". I don't love every single song (I'm looking at you, Tenement Funster), but most of them are fantastic and a few are transcendent. I hope these guys keep making music!
Class.
Sheer Heart Attack is a delightful record. There's something about Queen that I cannot resist, most likely one of the most beautiful voices in music history. Before listening to it I knew nothing but Killer Queen, however, all other tracks felt familiar - in a good way. I never felt any boredom during listening and was excited to see what else might surprise me in following songs. A work of beauty. Highlight: In The Lap Of The Gods... Revisited
Fajnie posłuchać utworów Queen, których wcześniej nie miałem okazji poznać - między innymi In The Lap of Gods w dwóch wersjach w stylu opery rockowej, co było zapowiedzią późniejszego "A Night At The Opera".
Yeah I agree Queen is grossly overrated most of the time and the idea of them as a “Greatest Hits” artists is pretty common, but god damn theirs a good reason for it. They’re good, really good. And this album is by far my favorite (and their best) in my humble opinion.
Awesome! Short, but catchy and a few classic songs. Glad I was able to give it a few listens through; it meant even the "lesser" songs were able to shine
As much as I enjoy the first 2 albums of Queen, here is where they really develop their sound. Going from metal (Brighton Rock) to glam (Killer Queen), they can really do it all. Even the songs that don't clunk resonate on this album. Yes, "Killer Queen" is overplayed on the radio, but it's still a damn good song. As great as Mercury's voice is, I think it's May's guitar work that really shines here. "Brighton Rock" and "Stone Cold Crazy" are real statements as to what he can do. Definitely one of my favorite Queen albums.
I am embarrassed at how much I profess to be a Queen fan and yet I don't own a single album that isn't greatest hits. Oh well, making up for lost time. So many different styles on this album. They don't all fit seamlessly but like Led Zeppelin III it shows a band who can play whatever the hell you want. Brighton Rock - classic hard rock and damn does Brian May heat up around the 2:40 mark. What. A. Solo. It just keeps going. Killer Queen - quintessential glam rock. Tenement Funster - a mix between the Who and LA Rock (nice acoustic work from John Deacon and wow can Roger Taylor sing), which turns a bit progy when considered alongside Flick of the Wrist and Lily of the Valley. I love how these three fit together and Freddie Mercury's vocals on the latter two are as entrancing as any of his most notable performances. In the Lap of the Gods - not my favorite but it does have a rock opera feel (and it's Taylor hitting the high notes). Stone Cold Crazy - frenetic pace (almost Sabbath-esque). Dear Friends - soft and sweet, piano and vocal harmony only. Bring Back that Leroy Brown - almost ragtime. In the Lap of the Gods Revisited - a soaring rock opus (that's how you close out an album). Other notes - I've always loved Now I'm Here, especially the effect that makes the acoustics sound like its jumping from one side of you to the other (also used at the end of Misfire). So much to like, so little to dislike.
It's a stone cold classic and a ton of fun. So many great tracks, including classics like Killer Queen (Queen's breakthrough, with all the elements that make Queen great), Now I'm Here (Queen goes full glam, even mentioning Mott the Hoople in the song), and Stone Cold Crazy (proto-thrash). Songs I was less familiar with but enjoyed: Tenement Funster - in any other band Roger Taylor would be an impressive lead singer, but hard to beat Freddie! Flick of the Wrist - a cross between Queen and Black Sabbath. Lily of the Valley - sounds like it would fit well on A Night at the Opera. Bring Back that Leroy Brown - fun track. Weakest tracks: Misfire and She Makes Me. Misfire has seriously cheesy lyrics - literally a misfire. She Makes Me sounds like it was recorded in a large room with two small mics. Also, when you have singers like Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor in the band, maybe Brian May shouldn't sing. Not to insult Brian May - he's the very definition of a guitar god. The guitar solo on Brighton Rock proves it right from the start. In fact, Brian May is outstanding across the entire album. Finally (literally), In the Lap of the Gods...Revisited is a great album closer. Easy 5.
Brilliant at the time and still sounds spectacular.
Very cool. Only complaint is it's tendency to track heat and explode when near warm objects or people.
Vrhunski!! Obozavan!! 🥰
It's a fucking musical! In my opinion, this album feels like an improvement of Queen II bc its narrative is not just complete but more complex than the previous one. It has more feelings involved, and we can hear that. We go from glory to misery, epic to heroic in a way that only Queen does it. It's not easy to go everywhere and still kill it.
Queen kan voor mij weinig mis doen. Ook dit album is een topper
i don’t think it is possible for queen to have lower than a 5 for me. I love this album and was unfamiliar with a lot of the songs but they were very fun to listen and learn to
This a good album. Very operary. I liked the singing of it and the change in speed and tone. I can see that in music today.
YESSSSSSSSSSS. SHRED THAT GUITAR.
Killer queen
Great band.
Another classic. What is there to say about Queen that hasn't already been said?
A glorious step forward for Queen into stardom. Despite its troubled development, Sheer Heart Attack comes packed with several early standout hits from Queens career, along with excellent deep cuts. This might be on of their first albums to not be afraid to deviate from their typical rock form of music, which helps this album feel a lot more unique from others of the time. Even with their later albums, I still come back to this one, because even on here the band has already mastered the Queen formula to a tea. Favorites: "Brighton Rock", "Killer Queen", "Flick Of The Wrist", "Stone Cold Crazy", "Bring Back That Leroy Brown"
First of all, I love Queen! I had never listened to this album, and now that I have, I love it. I will admit that I got confused when Freddie was not on lead vocals, but I still enjoyed it.
Wowee! That was exhilarating! I am giddy. That's what I wrote last night. This morning I woke up to the news of the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict and I wasn't so giddy. This album's great though and I expect to be in the mood for it again someday. It had managed to fly under the radar for me all this time and I'm glad to be finding it now. I love that, though there are several different styles of music here, Queen is as unique a band as you'll find, hard rocking and broadly theatrical and fun (if you're into fun). Definitely will come back to this one again and again.
Mis favoritas: Brighton rock Killer queen In the lap of the gods Stone cold crazy She makes me In the lap of the gods... revisited
Er, it's Queen. Bangers Central.
Queen at their imperious best
One of Queens best - a great mixture of solid songs and performance.
A wonderful record from an amzaing band at His best. I love you John Deacon
Wow, wow, wow! Amazing album from start to finish. I knew a couple songs prior to listening to this album in full but I'm surprised I hadn't given it a full listen earlier than today. My favourite songs are Killer Queen, In The Lap Of The Gods, Dear Friends, Misfire... but my most favourite has to be Now I'm Here. I've added all of these songs into my library and will definitely keep revisiting this album. 5/5 stars.
This album is amazing and I love it. Guitar solos don't get much better, and good luck finding better vocals than Freddie Mercury. It simply rocks, and has enough breadth that you can't wait for what you're going to hear on the next track. I came to this album later in life and wish I had it when I was younger.
5/5 - It's Queen
A bit more rockin' Queen than A Night at the Opera. This is a great, fun album
I think this was the first queen album I listened to as a teenager. Instant classic. Aggressive but beautifully done. One of the best
Great album, easy 5 for me. All songs top notch.
10/10
Hellingur af lögum sem ég held ég hafi aldrei heyrt, naut þess að hlusta á þessa meistara
false
oh boy yeah. freddie mercury weren’t lying when he said “we will rock you” cause this album fucking ROCKS. brian really shreds on this one, contributing some of his best guitar parts in the history of the band (highlights: brighton rock, stone cold crazy). although queen is mainly a singles band they sometimes have really good album tracks. this is the album that displays their kinda theatre kid aesthetics but im sorry cause i still dig their singles on the album. 4/5
Classic Queen, this album really showcases a style I don't think they're particularly known for but wicked good at. Freddie Mercury gets a lot of the attention, deservedly so, but I feel like Sheer Heart Attack really shows how rockin the rest of the band were.
Haven’t listened to this as much as some other Queen albums. Has some good songs. Definitely more straightforward than their previous album.
This album really feels like the moment when Queen became Queen. Everyone gets their moment to shine, but Freddie's vocal style elevates the whole album.
Never really cared for Queen outside of the big hits but this was very good. I appreciated the variety on display here with pretty much every song being in a different style. Not all of them worked for me, especially some of the more theatrical sounding ones, but I enjoyed a majority of the tracks here and the album was at the very least interesting all throughout.
This record is a lot of fun.
Buenisimo
It's a typical Queen album, some great songs like "Now I'm Here" and "Stone Cold Crazy" and some over the top pretentious things. enjoyable.
I really enjoyed it.
I have not heard this before. I am realizing that while I love Queen I have not listened to any of their albums all the way through before. This only has a couple radio hits and a few others that I’ve heard over the years and the rest is new to me. Lots of bangers and rockers on here and a few that aren’t so awesome, but no duds. I’ll have to go through their whole discography soon.
I'm torn between a 3 and 4. I'm not overly into the very theatrical side of Queen, I prefer when they play it a bit more straight like Stone Cold Crazy. There's more of that on here so I enjoyed it more than I thought I would (I have heard it but not in a long time) so I'll go with a 4 Highlights: Stone Cold Crazy, Brighton Rock, Now I'm Here
Is nen banger
The first side of this album is absolutely brilliant. I especially like how Tenement Funster, Flick of the Wrist, and Lily of the Valley segue into one another. The second half is much more uneven but still enjoyable.
Iconic album with some really memorable songs on it
Pretty cool. More references to more than I expected
Already love Killer Queen, let’s see how I like the rest. Queen is iconic as always. I liked it. Would listen again. I need to listen to the rest of their albums. Added Flick of the Wrist to a playlist. I have found new music!
Crazy how under the radar these guys are! Their music would make really good soundtracks for movies
An all time classic. Early Queen had a very different sound from what they would later become known for. There were plenty of great discoveries on this album.
Great album with several big hit songs. Still blows me away that this came out in 1974, it seems ahead of it's time by decade. The music is great and of course the vocals are amazing. Definitely going to be listening to this one again.
Done
Great vocals and guitar riffs. The first half seems to b to be better then the second, although the album is never boring or repetitive. Some songs might be more forgetful then others, but wouldn't qualify any ha bad.
I think I may be a single only Queen fan - at least that's all I've really listened to before listening to this album. I like News of the World and think I have listened to it in the past, but I find myself skipping to the singles and get to the "good stuff." I am really glad that I listened to this album all the way through though - it really has opened up my eyes and I'm ready for the deep cuts. I love how theatrical and unashamed Queen was when writing their music - they found their audience.
Very unique
Queen is always fun. Not sure I knew any of these except Killer Queen beforehand, but still fun.
This was the first album by Queen where they moved from Prog to become the Glam rock icons that everyone sees them to be. They aren't mere theatrics, though. They are all talented musicians and songwriters. Freddie shows why he the rock vocalist GOAT. And each track does something, from Brian May's solo on "Brighton Rocks", to Roger Taylor getting out in front of the drum kit, two a three song stretch of one into another of "Tenement Funster"/"Flick of the Wrist"/"Lily of the Valley", to birthing Thrash Metal with "Stone Cold Crazy".
SHART ATTACK
I can't believe I've never listened to a Queen album before. It was quite disorienting to listen to songs I had never heard before and then suddenly a song that I knew every word to. I enjoy the music but do think this would be background listening for me.
Enjoyed this being less theatrical than their other works - and what felt like more emphasis on the band as equals
I’ve really started to enjoy cleaning over the past couple of years. This album held up really well to replay. The lyrics are nice of the instrumental. Experimental sense is really well done I really enjoyed it. Might come back and give it a five.
Three. Not one of their stuff I’m crazy about
Very good album. Strong melodic start with compelling instrumentals in Brighton Rock. Killer Queen is obviously a classic among classics. Another highlight is also Stone Cold Crazy. The driving vocals draw you in and get you into the mood. I think the back half of the album is a bit weaker. I didn't really love In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited on the first listen. 4/5
Love the combination of the rock and theatrical elements.
1st time listen, don’t think it will be my last
Pretty groovy fancy album. Good 👍
I just feel like you have to like Queen. Folks in the 70's had it so good.
Such a good album. They're one of the GOAT's for a reason.
👸 Rock legends. Just an album you can put on and your broom becomes a guitar and microphone. 4.2
This didn’t hit me as hard as night at the opera, but it was still great. 8/10 Most Excellent
I love Queen, but I have the same issue with this album as I do with most of their albums - a couple crazy bangers and the rest is just meh. Still warrants a 4, but I wish it was better front to back.
Killer queen saves the album for me 😩😩
Bangers
A very enjoyable queen album. Some of Brian May’s best guitar work, with songs that flow into each other very nicely.
One Queen's better records in terms of album structure and flow. Their signature operatic style mixed with hard rock and progressive aesthetics works wonders on this wonderful LP.
Peak early production studio effects. Musicianship is incredible. Song writing isn’t exactly my style but it’s so fun I can’t deny it.
IS THAT A JOJO- but I’m happy to get a queen album :D Brian May my man can play that guitar like nobody’s business. Killer Queen automatically being my fav song from this album cause it’s iconic and it’s an iconic song. Kira get ya stand, queen guranted to blow y’all’s minds literally
Undeniably solid - went in far more pessimistic than I got to listening to the full album. Liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Really enjoyed the listen overall. 4
A bit inconsistent in the same way all Queen albums are (they always have to put some cheese on their records) but honestly this is still their most solid crop of songs. It's just fun and catchy bangers. Nothing as pretentious and overly dramatic as some of their other stuff. Good shit.
Alright! Here we go with another Queen album from the list! This one is legendary as well with some timeless classics like Now I'm Here or the Killer Queen. Great work with at least 4 stars, not sure if this can reach 5 for me though. Rated 4.0 on RYM for now
I don't understand anything but it also sounds gas so who cares, its getting a relisten later for sure. It kinda drags at the end but the first half easily makes up for it. Killer Queen is definitely going in my playlist. I haven't really listened to that much Queen, and I can't wait to see how they develop after this.
Bien fino
Shitballs this fucking rocks!! I wasn't expecting just how metal some of the riffs are. Freddie's voice is of course absolute perfection. However, I don't know why May isn't more often noted as a guitar god these days, because he most certainly is. Also the mofo has a freaking PhD in physics. How cool is that?
Me gustó medianamente, no estuvo mal, tiene ritmo
Killer Queen is an absolute smash. Here Queen is really forming themselves into what they became known for, musical tornadoes. The weight of this album can’t be overstated and it has some of their best songs, yet the ending doesn’t hold up as well for me.
Never listened start to finish. Will have to again. What a great set of tunes.
My favorite Queen song is on this record but I have to take away one star for the ones that sound like Supertramp and the ELO-esque production.
Talk about an explosive album There’s some great songs on this one, Killer Queen’s obviously the standout but Brighton Rock, Flick of the Wrist, and Stone Cold Crazy are all pretty solid songs. I do think this is a well paced album with lots of variety, a little something for everyone. Freddie Mercury’s vocals and May’s guitar expertise really go a long way, there’s just so much talent in this band. I don’t I liked this one quite as much as Queen II, the second half drags a bit and I just don’t think some songs (She Makes Me, In the Lap of the Gods) utilize the talents the band has very well. I also think it lacks a true standout that so many of their other albums have (Killer Queen’s good but I don’t think it’s in their top 10 best songs). Bars going to be pretty high for a band as decorated as Queen, and although there’s plenty I complained about they just make really solid music. Pretty crazy to see how much their style evolves between their previous album and this one
There was some good stuff there but man there's a lot of weird songs. Stone Cold Crazy is my favorite; Killer Queen is a little too overplayed (I blame JJBA) Lots of variety, but when that variety leads to more jank(?) music then i can't say i support it all too much. Too many songs that were beyond my understanding. Still very solid
Good album. Except I heard this album way too many times leading up to this day. The problem of living with a Queen fan, unfortunately. This album has good variety and doesn't drag on. There's not much else to say.
I am appointing Misfire song of the summer. However I can't help thinking through most of these tracks that I'd rather be listening to ELO or Boston
Cool
This is such an exciting album to listen to and feels like Queen reaching the peak of their powers. I massively enjoyed the stadium rock style, complemented by the utterly brilliant vocals of Freddy Mercury and instrumental energy from the band. The majority of the tracks are vibrant, cheeky & catchy, making for a super fun listen. There are 2-3 songs that feel like filler tracks but aside from those this is a brilliant record.
Never really my band of choice, a little too flamboyant for my tastes, but their complexity and musicality are simply too high to deny their talents.
Very theatrical! Good listening!
Pretty much everything you want in a Queen album
Almost perfect, I actually freaking loved it! Best Queen album ive listened to so far! Very enjoyable!
This was great
really enjoyed this
Good Stuff. Classic rock precursor.
7/10 Best songs: Tenement Funster Second Queen album of the project, and interestingly, I've never heard (or heard of) a single one of these songs. In terms of album construction, this one is terrific, with each song cleanly flowing into the next, and a nice variety of heavier rock songs and ballads. Overall quite good.
You can definitely hear the early themes of Bohemian Rhapsody and all kinds of heavy metal influences. It's disjointed but there isn't a dull song on here.
Can't say it's the most mind blowing album of theirs but solely for Killer Queen it deserves a top mark for sure.
None of the famous big hits but an interesting album with good songs and unique sound.
She's a killer queeeeennnn googbye eternity
7.5
i really liked this! saved most of them, all except brighton rock, tenement funster, dear friends, and bring back that leroy brown. the transitions were AWESOME, especially from tenement funster through now i’m here. my top 3: 3- lily of the valley 2- flock of the wrist 1- in the lap of the gods. AWESOME. jammed the fuck out, sounds great in airpods
Queen's critically important shift away from prog.
the album is a masterpiece 4.5/5
good! I like queen
It’s a bit excessive and not universally brilliant but it’s a fun and listenable album with a sprinkling of classics. A generous 4.
Didn't listen to the whole thing.
I'm a big fan of Queen, but since they were originally popular a bit before I started getting into music, I really only know their hits. So, it was fun to listen to an album that has a couple of songs that I know very well and love, and then other songs I've never heard before. What I love about Queen is that you always know a Queen song as soon as you hear it, yet their songs are quite diverse in style. Loved listening to this album. It has some killer Brian May guitar work on it!
Indiscriminately horny without being at all erotic. A big theatrical rocky proggy mess. Every song seems to think it's the last number before intermission, what is even happening here? I love it.
Love listening to Queen outside of a greatest hits context. It can't be a 5 due to a weak song or two, "She Makes Me" which is dreadful, but the rock heavy opening is really strong. Definitely one I'd revisit. Keen to hear more Queen albums.
Omg so fun, and blend of genres👌✨
Theatrical and energetic. Tight harmonies and big guitar riffs. Quintessential Queen.
Flick of the Wrist me gustó bastante che, underrated. Uff como engancha Tenement Fuster con Flick of the Wrist y esta después con Lily of The Valley. ME ENCANTA. In the Lap of the Gods". Gran disco. 8/10
Sounds like a mix of rock opera and the precursor to hairmetal mixed, it has the signature freddie mercury effortlessness and overall i love this album. i also loved how it ended with a callback to track 7. 4/5 album
Fun album, really like the melody of Killer Queen.
good actually
a fan!
This might be Queen's hardest-rocking album, and relatively light on their signature theatrics and goofiness. When you disregard their greatest hits, they have a very unique flavour of glam rock that people seem to either love of hate. I've come to quite enjoy it! Standouts: Brighton Rock • Killer Queen • Flick of the Wrist • Bring Back That Leroy Brown • In The Lap Of Gods... Revisited
A pretty enjoyable ride on this one. A variety of styles throughout; the transition from Stone Cold Crazy to Dear Friends could give one whiplash. Not perfect, but really fun.
LFG boys. Someone said "Let's end this album with a bang" and Queen took it literally. I love whatever's wrong with them.
Never listened to a Queen album before, but I love Bohemian Rhapsody. This is an interesting album, I think some of the chord progressions and riffs are unique. I’m not sure I like all the songs on this album, but Lap of the Gods is very good. I like side two better than side one. If side two was its own album, I’d give it five stars. 4/5
Some really good songs on here, but not the most cohesive, but man, some of those songs are good
it's like Beatles and the epicness of opera had a child. I see the heart put in this work, it really shows the character of the band. It's not my genre but i have to admit that this is a great album.
I’m so used to constantly hearing Queen’s hits on the radio, but I’ve never sat to listen to an album. This one rocks. The band are extremely talented, Freddy Mercury had an amazing voice. The songs are cool.
Bring Back that Leroy Brown was highly unexpected.
This is #day614 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and… here's some sheer hard/glam rock from the mid-'70s, aka my third and final Queen album. Now, Queen is one of those classic rock bands I like, so listening to this, possibly for the very first time in a proper start-to-finish manner, was a pleasure. That said, I wouldn't rank Sheer Heart Attack among the "must-hear-before-you-die" records on the level of A Night at the Opera or Queen II (the other two that are on the list). It's solid, but if I had to pick a third, I'd go with News of the World, Innuendo, or, say, The Miracle. "Killer Queen" is a staple, of course. Still, this is a 4 out of 5. Looking forward to #day615.
Not as bangin as I wanted, but still real good
could have been a bit more polished, queen has better records but this one is also worth it, as there debut album its considerably good
Hi han uns quants temazos, bastant bo
Smack dab between 'Queen II' and 'A Night at the Opera', Queen leans into harder rock here as they continued to curate their signature sound. There's still room for the more showy and operatic pieces too, of course! "Brighton Rock" is an incredible starter, featuring one of Brian May's most iconic solos to establish the energy that this album brings. Immediately following, "Killer Queen" gives us a classic display of Freddie Mercury's vocals/harmonies in a more glam rock showing. Other highlights include the medley of tracks #3-5, as well as an early example of thrash metal in "Stone Cold Crazy". Maybe not the most commercial Queen album, but I personally felt this to be Queen's most cohesive & interesting work that I've heard from this list specifically. The group was evolving and you can pretty much hear it right in this album.
7/10
Every song here stands out from each other. Favourite Songs: Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Flick of the Wrist, Stone Cold Crazy. Least Favourite Songs: Dear Friends, Misfire.
Fantastic again but I think I prefer Night at the Opera. Flick of the Rist and Get Back Leroy Brown are two new favourites.
Goeie
Crazy complex vocals and great songs
Love Queen.
Lily of the valley Stone cold crazy Bring back that Leroy brown In the lap of gods 7/10!
1st song is decent, though the second part with the guitar solo really got my attention. Is the 2nd song a JoJo reference? Haha. Heard this one before; one of their most popular songs to come across. “Tenement Funster gets really fun and harmonious. 1:27 - 1:50 guitar just letting it rip; lovely section. The use of stereo effect is so good in general. 2:10-2:21 Vocals are sun kissed. AND THE TRANSITION TO THE NEXT SONG IS NUTS. 4th song good. Transition to 5th is also good, but not as cool as the previous one 5th song quite short; has a bit of downtempo and somber vibes. Song 6, Now I’m here started off good. Felt like it built up the song well. Song 7: interesting use of voice distortion. Sounds dreamy. Organ chords ( I think) sounds futuristic or ET like. Stone Cold Crazy is high energy; drums are much heavier here; the hook is literally one line but it’s catchy. Could be a favourite. Song 9 is a complete juxtaposition of the previous song. Slow tempo; just piano and vocals. Barley over a minute; sounds like an interlude Misfire, song 10 is upbeat, fun and groovy. Amazing chorus. Good practical use of stereo panning. Reminds me of the Beatles rubber soul era. Replayed it again after it ended. Song 11 is cool, sound to me they took inspiration from jazz Song 12 is psychedelic ; downtempo. Sounds like walking through a mysterious haze Last song… I preferred the previous song as the ender
Not the best Queen album but i thoroughly enjoyed it. 3.9/5
Another new-to-me classic rock classic. I've never been a fan of the glam, operatic, overdub barbershop harmonies Queen. Their talent as a band is always obvious, but I haven't enjoyed their greatest hits. So, I was surprised how much I enjoyed this. First, Brian May. I get it now. Brian May is incredible, and without his playing this album wouldn't even be possible much less enjoyable. Second, Freddy Mercury, but that didn't surprise me, I expected that going in. Most of Queen's ubiquitous hits don't really show off Brian May like they show off Freddy Mercury, but this album does. But yeah, the over-the-top production still puts me out of it quite often, and the rock edges are too often smoothed out, and the second half of the album lags a bit. 4/5. Belongs on the list definitely, but I wouldn't include it on my personal list. In my book Queen is staggering talent that's largely buried in production. I tend to value music you can imagine being played in a bar, and these could only be contained in a stadium.
Cool prog stuff going on, but it’s not their best album.
Queen has everything I enjoy to listen to on paper. Tight vocal harmonies and incredible vocal talent in Freddie Mercury should be enough to sell me on their stuff, alongside nostalgia for so many of their hits. But after two Queen albums on this list, I can't help but just feel whelmed. I just don't think the genre is something I would want to listen to ad nauseum. But really going through the tracks here, despite just-ok impression the album as a whole left me, I think there's really not a low point on it. Sure there are moments in some songs I don't care for (I'm really not a huge fan of some of Freddie Mercury's falsetto), but each song stuck in my memory even days after listening, which is a good enough sign for me to bump this one up to a 4-star rating. Highlights: Brighton Rock Killer Queen Flick Of The Wrist Dear Friends Lowlight: She Makes Me (Stormtrooper In Stilettos)
rightfully a classic. this is probably my favorite queen album, but that is almost an impossible choice to make. such good stuff here, and i'm still perplexed that "flick of the wrist" didn't become one of their big songs, at least not here in the US
Me encantaaaaaa
A pretty solid Queen album. Killer Queen is the obvious standout here, but the album as a whole was really solid. As always with Queen, the harmonies were on point.
Proto-glam rock at its finest, with a hint of the orchestral grandiosity that makes Queen one of the greatest rock bands of all time. This album features a slightly more unrefined sound and provides a sense of how the band developed the elements of their future music. Some of the tracks have great potential but are too short and sound a little underdeveloped, but this is countered by the excellent continuity of the rock opera suite Tenement Funster/Flick of the Wrist/Lily of the Valley. The song Stone Cold Crazy is a rocking banger and stands juxtaposed among many slower and more melodic tracks.
fucking queen
6/10
I love Queen, but I don't think this is their best album. It's great though.
Banger! Filled with very good songs! 4/5
Lo más progresivo que escuché. 8/10
Good album all-around. I do feel it is a little repetitive, with a lot of the same general formula.
The problem with Queen is that their greatest hits are so ubiquitous (and, in many cases, played out) that I never felt the drive to listen to their other material. But as it turns out, I liked this album quite a bit more than I expected. I respect a band that doesn’t take themselves too seriously, and I enjoyed the glam rock vibes and fun medleys. This would be a solid 3.5 stars if the rating system allowed, but I’ll round up to 4.
Darn fine cuts on this
Decent album with a lot more variety than I expected. I think Queen has better music than a lot of this, but it's solid.
It's good. I have never been the biggest fan of Queen, though. I'm still not, but they do make some fine music. I would listen again.
Love queen
4.5/5
Mostly fun but a little weird - typical Queen
Nadat ik “ A night at the opera” en “a day at the races” had beluisterd. Sheer heart attack is heel divers.
It's always interesting to hear material created before a band hit its stride.
Some of the best rock ever written. Killer Queen is 10/10. But also filled with outstanding music. Lily of the Valley made me cry.
This was surprisingly good and surprisingly unfamiliar to me. Other than Killer Queen, I don't think I've heard anything on this album. I think Stone Cold Crazy was my favorite, a bit shocked that didn't/doesn't get airplay.
Queen is fun, its dripping in drama and over the top in a way that makes you laugh, clutch your pearls and fall into this fantastical world of imagination.
The only hit is "Killer Queen". If you like Queen then this album is worth a listen. Wish I had time to give it a few more because I also like: Flick of the Wrist, Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy, Bring Back that Leroy Brown
Musically an incredible album and can’t rate queen badly, but found the album somewhat boring
Sheer Heart Attack is the first Queen album I've ever heard in full, which made it a bit intimidating to listen to (especially because I've got a lot of thoughts about the band and its fanbase, which I'll dig into further when I review A Night at the Opera). Fortunately, the album ended up being more approachable than I expected and I had a pretty enjoyable experience with it! Highlights: Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Tenement Funster, Flick of the Wrist, Lily of the Valley, Now I’m Here, Stone Cold Crazy, Bring Back That Leroy Brown
muy buen disco
Great!
“Killer Queen”, which was Queen’s first hit, came from this album. All of the other tracks are new ones for me, although they definitely are classic Queen. There are a couple of songs that are mediocre, but just enough good tunes for me to give the album four stars.
Yay, Queen! They sure look sweaty. I like that they do a girl voice on 'Brighton Rock'. It is true there is a lot of guitar here, which is something of a demerit for me personally, but I like all the non-guitar-solo parts. I appreciate that several of the tracks are sub 3 minutes (the Eurovision special). And they have a unique sound, which is the opposite of a demerit. (A merit?) Highlights: 'Killer Queen' (although every time I hear it I think about this SNL sketch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw4zlvTlaI0 ), 'Now I'm Here' ("Go, go, go, little queenie!") 'Dear Friends', 'Misfire', 'She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes)'
I’ve always struggled with Queen. No thanks to local classic rock radio. Hearing the same 10 songs over and over again has soured me to an otherwise great band. Needless to say, I wasn’t terribly enthusiastic to get this album on day 1. To my surprise I was quite impressed. Brian May is the undisputed hero on this record. I’ve always heard how great of a player he was but I’ve never paid attention…. until now. Stand out tracks upon first listen are “Now I’m Here” and “Tenement Funster”. I would revisit this album if the desire to listen Queen ever comes up.
One of my favourite Queen albums
great album, classic queen with amazing vocals and instrumentals but not anything I will see myself going back to in the near future. Cant knock them, pioneers of the music scene but not my cup of tea.
Not their greatest work, but has some cool songs
The one and only Queen. It was a really good album even with most songs new to me. The songs vary in genre and 3 different singers. Some rock and remind me of Deep Purple.
A nice, rapid, glam rock album. Killer Queen and In The Lap Of The Gods were my favourites. I liked how nimble Freddie's voice is here. Not as bombastic as their later albums, but I can't listen to a lot of Queen, it doesn't really do anything for me. I switch off quickly - too melodramatic. Having said that, this was decent.
I love them
Amazing, simply amazing. Today´s bird: Shearwaters
favourites are Brighton rock, dear friends, misfire and in the lap of the gods... revisited. fun songs
I love the tone and style of these albums that Queen released. So many gems sprinkled within and you are always in for something special the way these albums are mixed.
bring back that leroy brown !
Mycket Queen känsla i albumet. Favoritlåt: Lily of the Valley
This was so good! They sound amazing, and I found myself having such fun with this album!
I heart it.
Queen mastered the art of making music that straddled the line between hard rock and theater kid music
8 Leroy Brown’s out of 10. The lows were never terrible, and it’s an overall pretty consistently good album. I added a lot of songs to playlists and I could see myself listening to some of the songs again or some songs becoming rock favorites for me.
Another good queen album a few great songs and songs that I know and listen to I think it’s not their best album but it’s still pretty good and nice to listen to
Subversive, suburban, feet tapping, lyrical beauty!
Eines der frühen Queen-Alben. Mit "Killer Queen" und "Now I'm here" als bekannte Hits. Ein wirklich gutes Rock-Album. 4/5
killer queen with a billion streams on spotify. what are we even talking about here. aint nothing i got to say that already hadnt been said. i asked rachel randomly desert island freddie or elton and obv this is never happening and not relevant but we both agreed elton, that just says more about EJ than it does queen. again, queen is just goated. this record i hadnt heard a ton before but this is metal - its important - its good - listen to it. 4/5
I do like the Queen and appreciate the musical and vocal talent in the band, however while this album was very queeny, there was something I seemed to miss at times. Certainly not a bad album but not quite the top tier.
Amazing album, the end is slightly weaker tho. Also zesty ass cover
Some tremendous tracks. I remember listening to a mate playing Brighton Rock in awe when I was 17. But some tracks a bit self-indulgent Glammy reduces it to a 4.
Some mega tunes, Brighton rock is naughty as fuck
Of all the years I have been listening to Queen, I never have listened to an album from start to finish. I only ever had the Greatest Hits albums. This album was a great listen. Interesting from start to finish with every bit of classic rock meets ballad meets rock opera throughout. Its a fun listen. Biggest Hit - Stone Cold Crazy Biggest Miss (if I had to choose) - Bring Back That Leroy Brown Not So Hidden Gem - Brighton Rock
Our first Queen album in this list and I have to say that was a very enjoyable listen. A lot of different styles and sounds on this album and yet all unmistakably Queen!
A great album with lots of twists and turns. No real bangers but I enjoyed it.
I wasn't blown away right away, but it's Queen, so still really good & easy to listen to for me at baseline. Some really fun theatrics, the bits of story in the lyricism I tuned into were fun! I think this is one that deserves some more time & attention and could grow on me more, but I definitely can't see this being the strongest album from Queen.
A really solid Queen album, definitely one of their better albums. There are a couple of clunkers on here that keep me from giving it a 5, but overall this is still a really good album. High 4.
4/5
~2016/17 really did long term damage for my enjoyment of Queen.... That said, this project is still solid. Killer Queen has never been a favorite of mine but I did enjoy it in the track listing. Favorite Song: "In the Lap of the Gods...Revisited"
Queen solidify their position as the theater kids of 70's rock bands
Very nice
Definitely interesting, not what I expected but very good.
I can appreciate the artistic choices and I really like the different theatrical takes.
Always happy to see a band I'm familiar with, even if I'm not the biggest fan :) Anyway, I had no idea queen could be this interesting, beyond BoRhap, WWRY and that one song about Roger being hot for his car. Was not expecting to like this as much as I did. Here's an album I'd definitely wish to revisit. Favourite tracks: Killer queen, flick of the wrist, now I'm here
momentos fuertísimos de rock
omg, i love this album. is so calming and beautiful.
Ohan tää klassikkolevy vaikkei se oma lenppari queenin levy olekaan. Jätetään vähän varaa nostaa arvosanaa niille suosikeille
ihan jeppis musisointia, ei kuitenkaan mitään tajunnan räjäyttävää. Skaalaten aiempaan valikoimaan arvotaan kolikolla 3 ja 4 välistä
juuu
Levykikonaisuuksia on tullut vähän vähempi kuunneltua. Tosi hienoja biisejä joka tapauksessa, johtotähtenä tietysti Killer Queen ja jälkimmäinen In The Lap Of The Gods. Mennään nelkulla.
Good background music (complimentary)
One of the great, reductive cliches in music discourse is that Queen are a singles band. Almost entirely due to the fact that their 'Greatest Hits' album is supposedly the best selling album in the UK of all time. I think also slightly due to the fact that a lot of their albums have a few great hits while the deeper cuts are less great. These things can both be true. I did enjoy listening to Sheer Heart Attack, which was effectively their breakthrough album, but two songs stood out as head and shoulders better than the rest: Killer Queen and Now I'm Here. Yeah, the singles, and the two entries to the Greatest Hits collection. Of the deeper cuts, there are plenty of good moments, Brian May clearly setting out his stall as an iconic guitarist with a knack for a memorable solo and some concepty features; songs merging into one another and coming back for a reprise later on. They would go on to explore this further with their later 'Night At The Opera' and 'Day At The Races' albums. It's a good fun and highly listenable album, although I'm feeling a little generous, it's on the 'just about' side of my 4 range.
Love this album. Some tracks are experimental, but I guess that’s needed to produce classics like “Brighton Rock”, “Killer Queen”, “Now I’m Here”, and “Stone Cold Crazy” (as well as their later greatness). That voice can rock, can roll, and can ballad (and play piano). Few guitarists have that unique sound that you immediately know who it is even if you don’t know the song. Just majestic. Like their namesake.
Stone Cold Crazy- epic. Dear friends- tender and sweet, almost a lullaby. All the layers and dramatic flair with Mercury’s falsetto make this album a work of art. So many bands owe their sounds to Queen… like the killers. And albums like Green Day’s American Idiot that drew from their rock opera blueprint.
The highs on this album are great, some of the best anthems in the history of rock, and the songs that aren't that are perfectly acceptable. Tenement Funster is technically crap, but paired with Flick of the Wrist and Lily of the Valley, it forms this really cool suite of songs. I think that's part of why Queen was so successful; even when a song is filler, it worked well enough in the context of the album that sitting through it didn't feel like a waste of time. This is a very smooth album. While it's not as adventurous and experimental as Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack definitely has some of the best Queen songs on it. It's 40 minutes I'd happily sit through again.
Strong album, but not Queen's strongest.
Personally most overrated band of all time. But they got many strong hits. But i’m not the biggest fan of their albums. Love the background voices tho
First time listening to a queen album all the way through, very much enjoyable Standout: flick of the wrist, brighton rock and stone cold crazy
Two albums in '74. I get the impression this one has a lot of cutting room floor material that they spruced up. So, a bit disjointed the band makes it work. In general, it's worth some time to actually listen their albums rather than just the Greatest Hits that have pummeled our ears of the years. Solid glam/metal/art rock thing...
Have always been a big Queen fan, really enjoyed the generator feeding more one of their albums on the first day. "Now I'm Here" is my fave from the album - Freddy and Co. can do no wrong.
Always happy to listen to Queen.
Great album great band but my least favourite queen album
It's Queen, always with hits
Quality throughout - not my favourite group, but a decent album with a “killer” track
Non transcendant
Queens hits are so familiar that I think I know the band, but I’d only heard a couple of these tracks before. Solid rock, bordering on operatic glam rock, with a few tracks (like Killer Queen) that elevate it to great.
Definitely not Queen's best album, bit there are a few highlights in this album. I bet this album gets better the more you listen to it.
Love me some harmonies and theatrics and experimental sound. Everyday I'm thankful my dad put me onto Queen so early.
Not a no skip album for me, but I can see why this album would be on this list. Queen were definitely trailblazers.
Sheer Heart Attack is a good, energetic album that captures Queen at their most aggressive and playful. It’s loud, colorful, and unapologetically over the top, blending hard rock punch with theatrical flair. Not everything is perfectly balanced, but the attitude and momentum carry it far. The highs are undeniable. Songs like “Brighton Rock” and “Stone Cold Crazy” are fast, sharp, and powerful, with Brian May’s guitars cutting through the mix and Roger Taylor driving everything forward with real force. “Killer Queen” stands out for its elegance and confidence, showing the band’s flair for style and drama without losing bite. On vinyl, especially a WLP CSM pressing, the album sounds fantastic: thick guitars, clear separation, and a raw energy that really comes alive. Still, the album isn’t flawless. A few tracks feel more like experiments than fully developed ideas. They’re not bad, just less memorable, and they slightly disrupt the flow. This unevenness keeps Sheer Heart Attack from being a top-tier Queen album, even if it never becomes boring. Overall, Sheer Heart Attack is classic, potent Queen: bold, noisy, and full of character. Some songs hit hard, others barely leave a mark, but as a whole it’s an exciting listen, especially on vinyl. 7.5/10
So many of their famous songs on this album! Would listen to it again
Brighton rock and sone are iconic
Fantastic Queen album. I am not exactly a huge fan of classic rock but this is something special. Every song is impactful and keeps the record progressing. Great stuff.
Banging, along with most iconic "Killer Queen" I also particularly loved "Stone Cold Crazy"
Chad Heart Attack 4.5
Album #36: Sheer Heart Attack - Queen Genre (W): Hard rock, glam rock Singles: Killer Queen/Flick of the Wrist, Now I’m Here I have only listened to “Killer Queen”. Thoughts?: I know Queen mainly for Bohemian Rhapsody or their 80s material, so listening to this full album will be an experience. Right now it sounds like the 70s rock music I love. Sure, it’s bombastic, but for a band like Queen, I love that. It’s sort of progressive, but mainstream enough to be enjoyed by the public. In the Lap of the Gods has an epic introduction. Favorite songs: Side One, In the Lap of the Gods, Stone Cold Crazy, Dear Friends, Misfire, Bring Back That Leroy Brown
One of my less familiar Queen albums! The only song I'm familiar with is Killer Queen. Just LOOK at the gap in streams from this song to others on this album; Killer Queen has over a billion streams, while the next most streamed is Stone Cold Crazy at 67 million. She Makes Me only has 4 million. Interested to see if my enjoyment throughout the record has a similar gap. Brighton Rock was a neat intro with cool stereo production. It's long and just kind of funky but really showcases Brian May's talent more than anything. Good shit. Killer Queen always bangs. Flick of the Wrist has a cool creepiness to it that feels very Queen and Lily of the Valley is weirdly beautiful - loved it. Now I'm Here is one of the other more streamed songs on this record and it's catchy but seems to drone a bit. Maybe I'm a hater but I understand that part of Freddie Mercury's whole thing is falsetto but the beginning of In The Lap Of The Gods was not necessary and made me jump. The rest of the track was neat and had some ahead of its time synth effects and reverb. It ended up being one of my favorites despite the first 5 seconds lol. Could've done without that. Stone Cold Crazy is good, loud 70's rock. Idk if I've just listened to too much of that today but the guitar was getting to be a lil much. I loved Freddie's fast, pre-rap pseudo rapping though? For its uniqueness it deserved its spot as the second most streamed and really showcases Queen's influence and dynamic staying power. Dear Friends was an interesting follow up, super short and beautiful track with gospel-like backing vocals and slow piano. This added to the demonstration of how dynamic they are with the immediate follow up from Stone Cold Crazy. Continuing this pattern, Misfire is a fun, upbeat track that makes me want to dance and feels a little different from the other tracks on this album - more like Queen that you'd find on a different record but it's a fave from this record for sure and its a shame that it's not more popular! Was torn between 3/5 or 4/5 but I gotta give it a 4. Giving this album a 3 would feel a little sacrilege and not super appropriate lol
Some BANGERS but a lot of them sound the same. Had NO idea Killer Queen was on this album and I’m here for it. I got high and listened and it was definitely a good listen. Some of the guitar solos had me levitating. Also, a perfect soundtrack for watching my bf play GTA.
Absolute classic, beautiful clear vocals and harmonies.
Golden oldie
only really knew their hits, and this album consistently hit
sono pur sempre i queen, però c'erano dei pezzi molto rock che al momento non reggo troppo. crazy come siano cambiati i miei gusti. le canzoni meno hard rock comunque belle. ho salvato quella in the laps of the god rivisitata
ok finally some proper good music
Solid, Killer Queen
Another Queen masterpiece. The albums are so cohesive and every song has so much life. What an amazing band.
