Awesome! Short, but catchy and a few classic songs. More time to listen would probably mean I gave it 5, but even once through it's a high 4.

Killer queen

A bit of a mixed bag. Queen has always been a singles band to me, not meaning that as any shade (cos their singles are great). A few hits, but the songs that flow together do so in such a jumpy, weird way that it's somewhere between glam camp and a poorly-run stage show. Also, if Freddie Mercury is your lead vocalist, you let Freddie Mercury do lead vocals. No one else. Favorite tracks: "Stone Cold Crazy", "Dear Friends", "Killer Queen", "In The Lap Of the Gods (Revisited)"

Without Brian May, this would just be a barbershop quartet at the opera. Wait, barbershop TRIO, and what sense does that make?! People talk about Freddie, but Brian May is the real reason this band is more than tolerable.

In a recurring theme with bands from the 60s and 70s, what I found out about Queen while looking into this album is how incredibly prolific they were. And I realized that I really have only heard their hits. "Killer Queen" is the only song on this album that I was familiar with, but most of the album is strong. (Aside from that weird Broadway number.) But "Sheer Heart Attack" seems no different from other Queen albums throughout the 70s. Between one and three hits on each album, with a new album almost every year. So why is it that modern rock bands don't put out albums as frequently? Lazy Gen Xers and Millenials? Record label interference? A quest for perfection leaving all those non-hit singles on the studio floor? Whatever the reason, it must have been cool in the 60s and 70s to constantly get new music from your favorite band. Fans of "Killer Queen" wouldn't have to wait long for "Bohemian Rhapsody."

Huh, turns out I enjoy Queen even when I only recognize one of the songs.

Truly the only not-totally-positive Queen experience I can remember. It just doesn't feel fully realized? Like the musicality is there and some songs are great (Killer Queen most notably), but I can't get behind the whole thing.

A glorious step forward for Queen into stardom. Despite its troubled development, Sheer Heart Attack comes packed with several early standout hits from Queens career, along with excellent deep cuts. This might be on of their first albums to not be afraid to deviate from their typical rock form of music, which helps this album feel a lot more unique from others of the time. Even with their later albums, I still come back to this one, because even on here the band has already mastered the Queen formula to a tea. Favorites: "Brighton Rock", "Killer Queen", "Flick Of The Wrist", "Stone Cold Crazy", "Bring Back That Leroy Brown"

Queen needs no introduction, being one of the most popular pioneers of hard/glam rock. In 'Sheer Heart Attack', Queen enlists both uptempo and downtempo elements in its tracks, demonstrating their dynamic ability through intimate piano ballads like 'Lily Of The Valley' or anthem-worthy guitar arrangements and solos in 'Brighton Rock'. The proficiency and understanding of musical direction is highly apparent, with the album never losing its step lead by Freddie Mercury's energetic vocals.

Brighton Rock and Killer Queen is a pretty great opening for the album! It's then followed by the incredibly bland Tenement Funster, sadly (while it's great the group operated quite democratically regards songwriting, it did mean some rubbish slipped through!) Flick of the Wrist is another song, and I didn't realise this, which is pretty damning. It's 50/50 so far. Lily of the Valley is camp as balls, and therefore ace. Then Now I'm Here is great fun too. Very Queen, and I think the variable quality is part and parcel. It's an album of brilliant ups and mediocre downs, which makes sense of Queen's reputation as a 'Best of' band.

My first full queen album I listened to. It was pretty solid. Killer Queen I've of course heard before but I also really enjoyed Now I'm Here and In The Lap Of The Gods. There were some parts that weren't as great as these high points, but overall it was a good 4/5 in my opinion.

Pretty consistently good. Killer Queen is a hell of a song. Noticing for the first time how similar Ratatat's guitar sound is similar to some of Brian May's sounds.

Expected to like this more than I did. Granted it all was fine and I didn't dislike anything, but a lot of the tracks were just ok to me. Killer Queen rules though.

Behold a band with no soul. For Queen, showcasing a technical guitar solo or vocal gymnastics matters more than writing entertaining or moving songs. Beware a band having more fun playing than you are listening. It’s lifeless drivel.

My acquaintance with Queen is mostly a mixed-up mish-mash of their incredible greatest hits, which can be an overload of over-the-top. I really enjoyed listening to this early breakthrough album to get a true sense of where they were and what they were doing and trying when they really made it big. I like all the personalities and styles represented in this. It's amazing to me that with such diversity, representing the complete gamut of mid-70s rock, that they all still sound like Queen songs.

First of all, I love Queen! I had never listened to this album, and now that I have, I love it. I will admit that I got confused when Freddie was not on lead vocals, but I still enjoyed it.

Wowee! That was exhilarating! I am giddy. That's what I wrote last night. This morning I woke up to the news of the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict and I wasn't so giddy. This album's great though and I expect to be in the mood for it again someday. It had managed to fly under the radar for me all this time and I'm glad to be finding it now. I love that, though there are several different styles of music here, Queen is as unique a band as you'll find, hard rocking and broadly theatrical and fun (if you're into fun). Definitely will come back to this one again and again.

This Queen album was new to me. The only song I knew was “Killer Queen” (a classic!). I loved it. Really nice early Queen that has a strong rock edge in the guitar solos (“Brighton Rock”) mixed in with some very prog-rock sounds all mixed together with Queen’s pure glam! “Killer Queen” is easy to identify as the big single off the album - it’s arrangements, little sound effect touches, and the way the instruments and the bands voices play together make it a no-brainer hit record. The big surprise was how much great Queen I have yet to discover. I loved the rock sound of “Tenement Funster” - this is a great song that joins with the two songs that follow into an incredible song trilogy. It has a more straight rock sound. Then it blends seamlessly into “Flick of the Wrist” that starts with a great piano interlude and takes things in a darker direction. This feels like more of a prog-rock song that blends seamlessly into “Lily of the Valley” which begins with ‘baby you’ve been had,’ a line from “Flick of the Wrist” that starts the third movement of this trio. This song is piano driven and a beautiful ending to this song trilogy. These three songs need to be listened to as a group to really appreciate, reminding us that there will always be a place for albums even in our digital future as the three songs are so much more when listened to together than they are as separate pieces. “Dear Friends” is a really sweet song of hope (in the best way). “Misfire” and its rhythm is so great! I love this song. Wow Wow Wow. And a love song subtitled “Stormtrooper in Stilettos”? I LOVE QUEEN! This album is spectacular Queen that brings me a lot of much needed joy and hope. Listening to it made me feel like I was listening to Queen for the first time again. So amazing! I will be coming back to this often!!!

Solid Queen album. Already has that rock-opera sound. Not incredibly outstanding compared to other Queen records.

Killer Queen is a classic and Stone Cold Crazy has had such an influence on thrash metal. An album that surprised me as I had not listened the whole way through.

As innovative and quirky Queen is, nothing beyond the hits caught my attention on this one. Killer Queen and Stone Cold Crazy are awesome but some of the others got a little too whispy for my taste when I listen to Queen I'm more on the rock side than the roll side but again, doesn't make it a bad album, just not one of my favs.

Hard to believe we haven’t had any Queen on the list until now. A few years ago I listened to all of their albums, so I do know this one. It’s one of their earlier projects, and you can hear the rock and roll fire that would one day give way for the more refined, artsy style of the later stuff. I still don’t know which Queen album is/was my favorite, but I love this one. It’s got plenty of hits, even in the deeper cuts. I welcome Queen albums on this list. Favorite tracks: Now I’m Here, Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy, Brighton Rock, She Makes Me, Misfire. Album art: A band photo in which they look horrifying. Why are they so sweaty? These guys barely look like Queen at all. I love the bold, red font but the picture is just unsettling. 4.5/5

Some absolute bangers on here and a bunch of hidden gems. Production seems a little thin but I guess that could be down to being exposed to much richer mixes in more recent times. Still a lot of fun!

It was good revisiting Sheer Heart Attack again. I used to listen to this regularly as a teen on the way to and back from High School. There isn't much enthusiasm for Queen as there was back then but still can't fault a near-perfect album. I must say though that re-listenting to this after a few years has gained me a new love for the deeper cuts like Lily in the Valley and Bring Back That Leroy Brown. It's got two fantastic singles, a great guitar solo in a quirky opening number, a couple of song suites that go well and a perfectly fitting closer. None of the 13 songs overstay their welcome here. Behind A Night At The Opera, this is their best album.

This album is a whole ass fucking MOOD and I am loving every minute of it!!

4.1 - OK, I officially eat crow. I'd unfairly written off Queen as poncy cock-rock twats. To be sure, there's some of that in full effect here. But, this album comes well before they descended into the realm of "Bicycle Ride" and "Fat Bottomed Girls" (shudder). These songs are undeniably fun, risk-taking and energetic - it's really hard to deny what they're putting out. As an album, it's an incredibly coherent piece, each song interweaving with the next, with reprises at different points. It's also got "Killer Queen", which is a favorite.

Not a huge fan of Queen fan to begin with but turns out that I like the hardrock-y early Queen even less than the Queen I know from the radio/tv/greatest hits albums. 5/10

Ahhhh Queen, always a delight. This is a solid collection of tunes that is so much *fun* to listen to, something I think is lacking even from better albums. Did you have a good time, and did it rock? Yes and YES. Stylistically the album is kind of all over the place, but the band makes it work for them. It has all the touches you expect from Queen, the sense of grandeur delivered with masterful musicianship, ethereal vocals and a bit of cheeky humor. The band moves rather effortlessly from full throated rockers like “Brighton Rock” and “Stone Cold Crazy” to delicate ballads like “Lily of the Valley” and “Dear Friends.” The perfect, hooky pop confection that is “Killer Queen” stands above them all. It’s a perfect song and there really isn’t another song like it, by any artist. The quality of the music is undeniable. Brian May's guitar is brilliant, existing on a technical level that few guitarists will ever approach. John Deacon and Roger Taylor are also in top form. The vocal arrangements are stunning, functioning as an instrument in their own right. Freddie Mercury is, of course, a force of nature. His charisma just crackles, elevating even the less interesting songs to a higher level. I also think the songs improve on repeated listening. I like the album better today than I did last night. 3.5 | Creo que mi opinión no va a ser la más popular, pero durante mucho tiempo intenté adentrarme en Queen como discografía y siempre siempre caigo en el mismo tope... Sus discos completos como albumes en general no me cuadran. Jamás quitaría la importancia o calidad de muchísima de su música, pero siempre se me ha hecho una banda de éxitos y sencillos (muchísimos y excelentes) y muchas canciones que se sienten medio de paja; quizá por esa democracia de terminar con canciones que son escritas por cada miembro y terminando con albumes que se sienten un poco sin cohesión. Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy, Flick of the Wrist... Excelentes canciones, pero el disco completo sigue sin agarrarme completo como para decir que con gusto lo vuelvo a poner todo. ¿Es un álbum que deberían escuchar todos? No estoy seguro... Estoy seguro que todos DEBEN escuchar mucho Queen y entender su importancia. Mi problema es que quizá no se DEBA escuchar la discografía de Queen, sino un disco (o varios) de éxitos.

Creo que nunca había escuchado este disco completo y me encontré con un Queen que sube y baja de velocidad como se le pega la gana, haciendo temas con elementos que después predominarán en los siguientes discos en diferentes momentos. De este disco sólo conocía Stone Cold Crazy y Killer Queen, que en mi opinión es una canción que representa muy bien la esencia de Queen. Fue interesante escuchar estas canciones que son muy del principio de la carrera del grupo, pero no fui tan fa del álbum en sí.

Este fue el primer disco de Queen que tuve después del Greatest Hits I y es uno de mis dos o tres favoritos de la banda. Creo que sí es de esos discos que hay que oír, en especial quien le late Queen pero solo conoce los de éxitos. Me encanta el amplio rango que tiene: desde el solo elaborado y lleno de delay de 'Brighton Rock', y el poder rockero de 'Stone Cold Crazy' hasta el sonido jangly de 'Bring Back Leroy Brown'. Obviamente 'Killer Queen' y 'Now I'm Here' son las súper conocidas del disco y me encantan, pero el medley de 'Tenement Funster', 'Flick of the Wrist' y 'Lily of the Valley' son mi parte favorita y puedo oírlas (siempre juntas) una y otra vez. Por cierto, Dream Theater tiene un cover muy bueno de este medley.

15th September 2021 Listened on my phone spread through the day. Funny that this came up the day after I watched baby driver and this album and it's opening track are mentioned. It's classic queen, arch, camp, big sounds, excellent.

not even queen killer could save this shite. Who knew photoshop existed in 1974, the glistening hunks on the cover of this album look nothing like the disfigured beasts that are in queen.

'A coked up mountain hare hopping over a disgruntled badger' is the best way to describe this glam rock masterpiece. The year was 1974 and hares were doing loads of drugs and running wild. The hare revolution was on the cusp of global domination and this album smacked the world in the chops and said "hey, here come the fuckin' hares, man. You fuckin' watch yourself, boy." Hares were all but extinct within 8 months.

It's crazy that these four guys all jizzed into the Queen's hole and 9 months later produced a royal, sweat-free, pizza hut dwelling definite non-nonce.

Although I have heard many tracks from Queen, "Killer Queen" might be the only track I was familiar with prior to listening to this album. This album is a reminder that Brian May (lead guitar) is worth listening to. With some of the vocals given to others besides Mercury and allowing for solo work from May, this album has music that is not easily identified as music from Queen (e.g. "Tenement Funster"). I would be tempted to skip the last two tracks of this album, but they don't reduce my rating below 3 stars. No new favorites from this album, but I enjoyed listening.

Leuke band, en ook leuke liedjes zoals Killer Queen. Maar de rest ging toch wat aan me voorbij.

Queen is op een paar nummers na nooit echt mijn ding geweest. Maar nu ik het eerste nummer van dit album hoorde kwam er nog een nieuw 'type' Queen bij: on speed. Dat was helemaal niet te harden zeg.

Hier en daar vliegen de heren een beetje uit de bocht, maar over all vind ik dit best leuk.

Wow, wow, wow! Amazing album from start to finish. I knew a couple songs prior to listening to this album in full but I'm surprised I hadn't given it a full listen earlier than today. My favourite songs are Killer Queen, In The Lap Of The Gods, Dear Friends, Misfire... but my most favourite has to be Now I'm Here. I've added all of these songs into my library and will definitely keep revisiting this album. 5/5 stars.

Joah, Queen: bin ich jetzt kein Experte für, aber auf dem Album haben sie langsam ihren Sound gefunden, kann das sein? This album is amazing and I love it. Guitar solos don't get much better, and good luck finding better vocals than Freddie Mercury. It simply rocks, and has enough breadth that you can't wait for what you're going to hear on the next track. I came to this album later in life and wish I had it when I was younger.

Queen is absolutely my favorite band of all time. I think their worst album probably still gets 4 stars from me. SHA is by no means their worst, though. Brighton Rock - I loved this song before Baby Driver made it cool. The chord progression through the chorus always gives me the goosebumps, and May's guitar solo here, finally perfected from Queen II, is one of the top five solos HISTORY. Killer Queen - Their biggest "hit" from the album. Probably my least favorite track because of its ubiquitousness. How many times have I heard it? 10,000 at least. Still, it slaps. Tenement Funster - Roger Taylor tracks always get short shrift from Queen fans, but I have a soft spot for him. I love the youthful rebelliousness. The transition from this into Flick of the Wrist into Lily of the Valley is the best thing Queen *ever* did. Flick of the Wrist - Shades of their later Death on Two Legs piece. Angry, but still playful. The drums and, again, the guitar solo here really stand out. Lily of the Valley - A bold operatic piece that nearly always brings me to tears. Freddie shows off his vocals for truly the first time on the album. Tingly piano throughout. Now I'm Here - A song that cannot truly be appreciated without listening on headphones. Queen does a bunch of goofy name dropping here that is always funny. In the Lap of the Gods - Another headphone essential. Taylor shows off his insanely high range here. Kind of a Pink Floydy song. Stone Cold Crazy - I have heard this getting more radio play in the last few years, which I find interesting. It's a great, quick rocker that doesn't overstay its welcome. Dear Friends - A sad, mournful little piece that is gorgeous Misfire - A Middle-of-the-road Queen track. Its worst sin is being forgettable. Bring Back That Leroy Brown - A goofy, good-time skiffle song. All the different voices and rhythms make this one a real treat. She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos) - The harmonies here are just perfection. The most underrated song on the album. In the Lap of the Gods Revisited - The better Lap song. Really shows off their arena sound a few years early. You can just hear audiences of thousands singing along. Love love love this album.

While I generally think that, theatrics aside, Queen's music is overrated, I do acknowledge they have some pretty good material (though rarely pretty good albums). This one, though, is all theatrics.

I am a huge Queen fan, but this is one of those albums I know the least, so this was a great opportunity to listen to it thoroughly. When the movie Baby Driver came out I remember listening to Brighton Rock over and over again. That was a great movie and I became a fan of the song too. The rest of the album is still growing on me. I think this was the first queen album I listened to as a teenager. Instant classic. Aggressive but beautifully done. One of the best

Bit of it all, got the slow ballads, the fast rock, a lullaby, Leroy Brown is a ragtime tune, and some rock jams; Stone Cold Crazy is a great high-tempo tune which is then followed by a lullaby. Album really bounces back and forth with the styles and they have a lot of different ideas going on. Still it's all Queen so it works.

Fun listen. Queen never quite hits home perfectly with me, but you can't deny that this is a solid album with some really fun tracks.

Brighton Rock is a guitar masterpiece

Not much in typical Queen music I’m familiar with so I only enjoyed a few songs. Bring back Leroy brown and tenement funster were my favorite.

Solid Queen album. Killer Queen itself is a stone cold classic, the rest of the album is decent enough.

Certainly not the greatest album by Queen, in my opinion, but a solid guitar-heavy record that brought the band to popularity in the USA. You can really tell the band stretched themselves to make this a very "in your face" and technically complex album. Mercury's range really stays in the upper register throughout the majority of this record, but most the studio tracks will never hold up sonically to the live renditions.

great album, love queen

I love Queen and this is one of my favorites from them. It flows well, it’s catchy, it rocks in a classic timeless way.

Unbearable

Good songs, though they tend to overdo the theatrics.

It turns out I’d never listened to a Queen album before, having assumed they were nothing but a greatest hits band with some great hits, but this really thrilled me. Freddie’s voice is always a charm. It’s just as mental and hops hither and yon like a greatest hits album, but it’s also tighter, less polished and frankly more fun. Big digs.

Probably a 2.5. Rounded up because it's opened these mouldy cabbage ears to Queen as album-worthy. I'd say I hadn't considered that possibility before because they're victims of an enduringly popular greatest hits collection excpet no band with these sales can be called a victim. Find a better word and let me know. Killer Queen is still my favourite of all their songs, Bring Back That Leroy Brown is a hoot and the "Don't look back" but in Flick of the Wrist (about wanking, I hope) gets me pumped every time. Prog - pfft. This is just good ol' gay as fuck rock 'n' roll!

Queen, what a classic album. Love Freddie's voice and this rock album have the signature queen sound throughout. There are very inspiring elements that sounds like they were made today and not in 1974.

This record is the most consistent fun I've had with a Queen record. They've always been a bit of a singles band for me, so Sheer Heart Attack is a nice surprise. The arrangements are more complex and explosive than their older material, and doesn't suffer from some of the more egregious experimentation of their 80s material. Fav Tracks: Brighton Rock, Killer Queen and Bring Back That Leroy Brown.

This was a really varied and fun album that bridges Queen's glam rock/live band chops and some inventive studio trickery. I was taken aback when someone other than Freddie Mercury started singing on "Tenement Funster"! Some of the transitions are pretty remarkable. While a few songs are a little indulgent, I enjoyed the overall experience of this record. Rating 3.5/5 Favourite tracks: "Killer Queen", "Now I'm Here", "She Makes Me"

AWEFUCKINGSOME

I guess the purpose of the album and by extension the band itself is to provide aural and operatic pop rock experiences. Unfortunately this ain't my thing and found little to no enjoyment here.

It felt unstructured, a load of ideas thrown together but nothing compelling.

Queen playing some thrash metal before thrash metal even existed (Stone Cold Crazy). As with most Queen album it's a mad mish-mash of various genres with some hits and some duds. Fortunately the hits outweigh the duds on this one. Best track: Stone Cold Crazy

I'm not entirely sure if this is the first (non-compilation) Queen album I've listened to in full. That said, I've listened to multiple Queen compilations up and down and there are a couple of their songs that I really love (none of them included here though). The majority of songs on this album are versatile, very good & interesting and the guitars as well as the singing of course are frequently fantastic. Some of the songs seem a bit overly dramatic. But it's well-executed enough to contribute to Queen's charm. Also, this album doesn't contain any of their really annoying and uninteresting/cheesy hits (which Queen also have a couple of... the horrendous We Are The Champions, Another One Bites The Dust and We Will Rock You come to mind... urgh). Instead, this album is straight-up quality - only In The Lap Of The Gods was sort of, uh, weird.

The album that saw Queen really hit their stride. Excellent songs (Flick of the Wrist especially being an underrated Queen song), but the production can make the project feel a little dated. The foreshadowing of ideas that would be explored later in their catalogue is always fun though!

Inimitable vocals from the stellar front man but the songs just don't really do anything for me. Best song: Killer Queen.

It’s Queen, it’s pop/rock, it’s non offensive & pleasantly welcoming...but it’s safe and run o’the mill. In other words a bit boring. You can drive around in your car listening to it and by the time the last track finishes you could be fooled into believing you just listened to one very long song instead of the full 13 or so on the album. They all kinda sound alike and none really stand out. I’m giving it a rather bland 3 stars.

Queen is always great.

Never heard this one but seems like a transitional album for them, moving on from their prog roots (e.g. "Ogre Battle" from their previous record) to big arena rock and their anthemic destiny. The vocal harmonies really do it for me. Four voices in concise, majestic arrangements, fit into a compressed metal tube. The Queen sound is born. Brian May seems to be enjoying playing around with heavy delay, and the guitar solos sound rad repeating onto itself and creating percussion. For the first time realizing Queen probably had a big influence on 80s glam rock. I bet Eddie Van Halen loved Brian May. Bigger picture question - when is arrogance welcome in music? People like Freddie Mercury and Mick Jagger (and even Boston bad boy Steven Tyler) can strut and pomp all over a stage and I love it. Their inflated egos can blow up a stadium and it's fantastic. But why is it such a turn off when a Johnny Rotten or a Bono put their arrogance on display? Maybe it's an authenticity thing. Anyhow, in the end, this album is the soundtrack to a Broadway musical about an elf queen (chaotic good) and a lightning dragon. B

I haven’t listened to this album before. I’ve always thought of Queen as a “best of” band. But this album proves me wrong. They are really good at guitar effects/layering and Freddie Mercury operatic/hair metal singing range/layering and it really shines in spacey, ethereal songs like “in the lap of the gods.” What really stood out to me on this album though was the harder rocking bangers like “Brighton Rock” and “Stone Cold Crazy” I didn’t know they had that arrow on their quiver, these songs blew me away. It’s cool that they added the layer of near seamless transitions between songs. I hear opera, hair metal, classic rock, even a little punk. I found myself a little less excited about a few of their songs that sounded like classic rock standards, almost southern rock, they were still solid songs but weren’t as strong and killed the vibe, I would’ve removed them completely. At the end of the album I was blown away by “she Makes me” it sounded like proto New Wave or proto Brit Pop, in fact I feel like there’s a song that straight rips it off. I feel like this albums deserves a 5, much of the album does, but there were a couple filler songs dragging it down that could’ve been cut. A-

Queen just doesn't do it for me

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Not bad.

I listened to my original vinyl copy of this album. I didn’t have Queen’s earlier stuff but recall this album had a new sound - glam rock as it’s called.  We now know they still had another gear or two to ramp up the glam. The liner notes give Freddie the credits for “vocal extravaganzas”. How 1974 is that? I don’t recall Killer Queen being in the recent(ish) Boh Rap movie which surprised me since it was a big hit. While I had this LP for 45 years, the vinyl is in great shape which means I didn’t play it much. Aside from Killer Q and Now I’m Here, I don’t really remember the other songs. I thought "Flick of the Wrist" was a vg song but it was like today was the first time I heard it. I appreciate the historical and transitional  significance of this LP for Queen but the fact I can’t remember 11 of the 13 tracks means I can’t justify a rating north of 3.

Good album

I'm not a huge Queen fan, and I've never listened to one of their albums end to end. This was a real treat for me, as I actually found that the tracks that didn't make it to the radio resonated with me more than the singles that did. I'm definitely going to be exploring more of their catalog.

My brother and I are debating who bought this album, but nevertheless, I remember playing the first song, Brighton Rock, over and over, because of the heavy, echo-y guitar solo. I had forgotten the rest of the album, but it sounds pretty good now, especially the sequence of tracks after the radio hit. Well-crafted songs & Brian May really rocks.

Queen was my favourite group when I was in High School. They certainly had style and flair, plus some pretty darned good musicmanship and of course the inimitable Freddie.

Misfire was a track I never heard before that I liked. But please no more Queen.

Very fun to listen to. A good mixture of high energy and interesting melodies. Lots of fun guitar solos. Only one traditionally popular song on here (Killer Queen), the rest were new to me but very good. Very solid album!

Sounds like a basic Queen record. Straightforward, generic 70s rock with the band harmonizing at points over each song. Brian May's solos are technically amazing, but generally don't stand out as overly melodic or fun to listen to.

Didn't enjoy this as much as I expected to. Quite a few samey ones.. and weird ones that I wasn't into. Was a bit much at times - but I know that is Queen

Enjoyed this album. I've heard a couple of the songs, but was not aware of or have listened to the entire album. Love Queen's harmonies. It did occur to me listening to it, that a lot of their stuff is reminiscent of show tunes, don't know if that was in their roots, but it feels like it.

Lovely to see more of Queen than just their greatest hits. This feels like an insight into their more casual work, but it's still a stunning range of music.

Obviously everyone knows the classic Queen songs, but the songs on this album surprised me quite a bit. Queen with Guitar solos and constant drumming was a pleasant change from Bohemian Rhapsody.

I cannot believe I've never listened to this album and have always loved Queen. It's true rock and roll, with enchanting, rolling diddies. I can hear inspiration for other bands decades after them to come. Great job Queen. I love how each song has a different musical theme. That is SO my style. Some of the songs are just SILLY and I love it.

Queen has such a diverse sound, and they don't really sound like anyone else either. A lot of the songs on this album presage what would come on their next album, A Night at the Opera. 4/5

Definitely some of the rawest Queen tracks I've ever heard and prob the best moments of this style of glam rock. Still can't get as enthusiastic about the record's theatrical flourishes as it sounds like the band is performing them but there are some great riffs and I love riffs. Also "Stone Cold Crazy" is thrash as hell and goes extremely hard.

Is it sacrilegious to say this is better than "Night at the Opera"? Probably. But it is.

Very strong start to the album and a good variety of sounds. Unfortunately I think the back half of the album is a little more boring. I keep going back and forth between 3 and 4, but i think i can mark it as 4
