Reviews (page 3 of 14)
A very easy 5. One of my very favourite albums. Lush, warm, groovy, evocative. A proper trip of an album. So very French. ‘Easy listening’ done perfect. Always great to have an excuse to devote some time to a full listen.
Sure, nostalgia plays a part in the score here, but this is album is nonetheless a start-to-finish banger. I've listened to it so many times, but still want more. Wonderful.

Very good.
Chilled. Perfect from start to finish
Brilliantly dreamy
Iconic album. I listened to it once with friends after a listening of "Mezzanine" by Massive Attack and we concluded that it's like a positive/opmistic version of that record. "Sexy Boy" and "All I Need" are two of my favorite electronic songs. more of a 4,75 but rounded up.
Superb!
Holy Cow! I LOVE this album so much. This is perfect for chill listening during my workday. I added most of the album to a playlist I have for this and it may become a go-to album for me. I'm going to have to explore more of their music!
Classic album
Maybe in my top ten favorite albums; I've listened to this more times than I can count.
Yes I like it
In my opinion, this album is the best downtempo electronica ever made. Maybe you’re not in the mood for downtempo electronica or maybe downtempo electronica just isn’t for you. But, if you are ever in a place and time where you’re in the mood for this type of music, this is as good as it gets. An absolute classic of an album.

I love this album, Air is one of my favorites. Very chill music but still catchy and sonically deep. I personally prefer Talkie Walkie, maybe because it was the first I'd heard, but Moon Safari is more cohesive and meditative. Awesome album.
Perfect album!
Excelent album
Yes! So much of a relief after some of what we’ve been listening to. Not a drum solo to be heard!
A classic. I listened to this album a lot back in the day. This reminds me of the 2001 documentary Startup.com and a scene near the end. One of the main subjects was driving their car and talking to the filmmaker and their camera in the passenger seat. Air’s song Remember happened to be playing in the background on the car stereo. After the documentary subject finished saying something emotionally intense (and probably hard to replicate) they joked the song was playing the entire time and now the film would have to pay Air if they turned it up. The filmmaker replied with “yeah…”, and then the subject turned up the music and started to groove. Thankfully the song worked pretty well for the scene. To see that clip search YouTube for: startup.com air remember.
Never heard of these guys or this album and will be a part of the usual playlists going forward. Good work music/background ambiance. Very unique. Played multiple times throughout the day.
9.5/10 oh this is fab, had defo heard a few of these songs before but never really listened as a whole album ! really very much enjoyed this, the instrumental tracks are some of my faves so far since doing this and I'm very happy I've found them, shall be adding to my future summer playlists
Gets better each listen. Stylish vibes without being over the top. Sexy Boy is not great but the rest of the album makes up for it.
super sympa. hyper cool. tres chouette. 5 etoiles.
Already one of my favorites. Such a nice sound, feels vintage but released in 98
Amazing
Some super sexy film noir. Those bass lines are incredible.
Still as good as it was when it was first released. Great for a lazy Sunday afternoon or slumped on the sofa at 2am after a night out
This album takes electronica to the next level, which is level 47. Seriously though the sounds and ideas created are un matched, even they were unable to create anytging like this again. So what makes it good? Simple groovy funky French. Je ne sai pas.
Has become an alltime classic for me.
Day 81 - Jan 13th, 2024 THANK YOU FRENCH PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

Love this album so much
Very unique and retro electronica vibe to it. Made for some nice and easy listening which was perfect for a chill morning at 2am. Highly enjoyable overall.
Didn’t know I would enjoy this album this much. French electronica tingled with some trip hop. Daft Punk on CBD.
I enjoyed this when it first came out, but unlike several albums from my youth that have appeared on here, I think I like this even better now than I did when I was a teenager. My reaction to seeing this pop up was that it would be a 4, but I think it's actually a 5. Lovely stuff.
Would like this on vinyl I think, made me feel very chill
Classic chilled electronica. One of the best albums of the 90s and wonderful to hear again, as I’ve not listened to it in its entirety for many years.
very enjoyable electronic music
Absolutely stellar. (Lunar?) Electronic, but heavily indebted to classic pop from the 60s. Sophisticated, but not pretentious. "La femme d'argent" makes this clear from the beginning. Lush, otherworldly, fundamentally retro. Undisputed classic. Fav tracks: La femme d'argent, Sexy Boy, All I Need, Kelly Watch the Stars, You Make It Easy, New Star in the Sky
Like a chilled out Daft Punk. Dreamy electronic music that would be great for studying or just relaxing background noise. Would definitely listen again.
Another new addition to my Tidal library. While I don't love all of the tracks on this album, most of them are great, and it's definitely a five-star offering, in my book.
Really nice surprise. I expected some early 2000’s euro pop bullshit, but this slapped. 5/5 Highlights: La femme d’argent
Phenomenal
What a nice surprise! It strikes a really great balance between being chill and interesting. The tracks have a lot of variety but mostly share the same relaxed and cozy vibe. And I like that even though the synths and electronic drums are present throughout, there's also guitar, bass, strings and piano that take centre stage at various points.
love this album. 5/5
I was hoping this album would be on the list. Happy days.
9/10. Great vibe music. Creativity felt high to me as someone less experienced in the genre.
Loved it
Retro Durham vibes.
Perfect
What an incredibly pleasant surprise, really was not expecting this. Feels like Daft Punk after coming back from a chill sunny trup to the French Riviera
I usually don't like electronic music, but Moon Safari is an electronic album with a lot of soul. The bass lines are solid and funky. This is good chill out music. Liked Songs Added: La Femme D'Argent Sexy Boy Kelly Watch The Stars
As far as turn-of-the-century French electronic music goes, I think this album is truly la crème de la crème. It is so smooth, effortlessly cool, and wholly immerses you in its sonic universe. The opening track, “La Femme d’Argent”, is an all-time favorite of the genre, and Beth Hirsch’s vocal work on “All I Need” and “You Make It Easy” make them standouts as well, but there are no weak tracks on this album. I’m very happy that the world I live in is one where this album exists. Minus 1 star because “Sexy Boy” is the tiniest bit cringe. 9/10
Love Air and this album was full of wonderful music.
Absolutely stellar record. Could listen to this all day and not get tired of it. Neat and tidy length too! Not too long, which is rare for 90s electronic albums.
love it, and forget how pack it is. expect sexy boy but the whole album is great
There’s this review, you might’ve seen it, it starts like this: Have you ever been out drinking with a few friends and it gets to that late hour where you can either go home or get weird? And he explains beautifully how this album is like when you decide to get weird. But I think he forgets to mention that somehow this album is both. It’s like when you get to that moment of the night and decide to go home as well. Saying goodbye to your friends who bravely accept the weird while you accept the quiet of the night. Lying drunk on your bed while the room is spinning, spacing out, waiting for the inevitable existential crisis to overflow your brain. But like, in a good way? This album just lures you into the parallel this truly album is. People who don’t like this probably never tried drugs… good for them!!
Loved it ! Muy relajante.
I've acquired quite a nice collection of pleasing, down-tempo chill albums over time, of which Moon Safari is one. It's massively my jam, and I revisit it a good amount of times throughout any given year. I just really love what these guys are doing. There's so many interesting soundscapes and textures running through this, with solid melodies and production. The flow of the whole thing is incredible. Overall, it's just a really mellow and satisfying time.
Easy 5 - perfect example of why this list exists.
eternal classic, obvious 5
So damn good
Wonderful album. Loved it. 💙🩵💙
Classic Chilled out vibe Amazing really. It's so nice to listen to, I find myself making up little melodies over the top. The whole thing is great
One of my favourite albums.
retro inspired, lovey-dovey downtempo beats. this album is impeccable when it comes to this genre and time period of electronic music, mixing vocoded voices and half-century instruments with dreamy mixing and synths. this is a near-perfect blend of old and new. think daft punk, but with a HEAVY 60s funk infuence. it's AMAZING.
Awesome
Great chill ambient music
AIR and M83 are my two favourite French electro bands. Smooth and edgy, yum!
Loved the chill ambient vibes, reminiscent of Vangellis, mixed with some soft version of electronic of the French gods Daft Punk. A brilliant debut album. Will check out more from these guys another time.
I didn't recognize this band initially, but saw on their Wikipedia page that they did the score for The Virgin Suicides, which I remember liking a lot. Overall, this album was a very enjoyable listen. The chill/psychedelic feel was a great vibe. I prefer the songs with little to no vocals, but found the whole album great overall. The last two songs of this album were very significant to me. I'll 100% listen to the full album again.
5 - such a chill and cerebral ride through space, just as the title promises
The kind of electronic music I could listen to for a long time. Not just loops and drum boxes, but actual playing as well. Amazing.
Reading a review on this masterpiece, I wonder "why do people liken all electronica music to Daft Punk?"
Best downbeat electronic music :)
french people and silly synths. a combination that has never done me dirty
I have been looking for this sound since falling in love with Dusty Trails’s only album - I am so so happy right now. Can’t wait to stare at the ceiling to this one.
Another perfect rainy day album. Front to back, just a whole vibe.
I could tell in the first 30 seconds of track 1 that I was going to love this album. I listen to this kind of electronic music while I work, so I'm always listening to bands like RJD2, Abakus, Aphex Twin, and Little People. I can't believe I've never heard this band. Love it and will be on rotation often.
"Moon Safari" is such a timeless album. It really pulls on the strings of nostalgia for me. I remember discovering it at a record store on a new release listening station. Back then, I listened to a lot of aggressive gabber, DNB, hard house, and the list goes on, but this album hit me differently. It was so soothing, lush, smooth, dreamy, yet euphoric and uplifting. It spoke to my soul. Even today, when I listen to the opening track “La Femme d’Argent,” I still feel that sense of calmness, euphoria, and now, years later, a hit of nostalgia. It takes me back to a time when life seemed simple and carefree. Another element I’ve always appreciated about this album is the way they use synthesizers. They make it clear that they are using analog synthesizers, creating a warm, organic sound that can't be ignored. If you’re a fan of chill and downtempo music, this is a must-hear album. It’s amazing how this album is 25 years old now, but it still feels fresh. This album will never get old.
After so many angry and down albums listened to recently, this one was refreshing. No social commentary, angry rap or post-punk, just relaxing and soothing. Not that this was muzak. There is a lot going on and this is an album I would certainly like to revisit one day...
11/10 Eines der besten Album in diesem Genre….
I knew this well already! Gorgeous and atmospheric throughout. Transportive.
Great
LFG
I feel like I'm throwing out the 5* ratings too easily, but if this will keep throwing albums at me which I played to death, then that's going to keep happening. I never realised the opener was 7 minutes long, because you just don't want it to end.
Ahh, I forgot how good this actually is. It is tainted by memories from the past which I shall not disclose . I suspect there is bias here because I’m highly rating many fave albums from my younger years. That’s how it goes. It’s a. 5 from me
I've been listening to this album off-and-on for years. The "Sexy Boy" smash single and the opening track are very memorable, but I couldn't recall if the rest of the album falls off. I'm pleasantly surprised, because the whole thing is quality. The sound is a smooth downtempo blend of trip-hop, classic pop, disco, jazz, lounge, etc. Sounds pretty schmaltzy on paper, but it is done so well, with great attention to detail. Good pacing across the album too. Très bien! 5*
French chillout genius.
I very like this album
Very cool!
I love this album so much. I've known it beforhand and it never disappoints. Air live is still doing shows and they are as good as you would expect.
What do you get when you put 2 French dudes together, one an architect, one a mathematician, with access to a lot of studio gear and 70's synthesizers? This album was extremely influential on myself and a huge range of creatives, no matter the kind of artist. It caused creatives of all kinds to think differently about their craft and I suspect it has something to do with Air's approach to making compositions. In Air's Nicolas Godin's words: "What is important in architecture are not the walls and forms, but the space between two walls: that is what creates the architecture, the emptiness between the walls. It’s the same thing between two notes. A note on its own is nothing. Two notes together make a chord. That creates a space, a color. It’s the same principle as in architecture; it’s the emptiness between things that defines the thing in question. We often tend to see architecture as a structure, but what is beautiful is the emptiness between things. Architecture cuts up empty space and time, just like music." This album, like this quote, left impressions upon me at a pivotal point in my learning that forever changed my thinking on creating. Also all the songs & hooks land hard. You can tell they don't care the genre necessarily, they just want the track to strike a vibe. This leads the album to sound so cinematic, taking you on a journey with unexpected twists and turns. From the bouncy, hunky dory horn hook of "Ce matin-lá" to the bumping synth banger that is "Sexy Boy", these tracks all sound like they could be different bands, by on-paper descriptions. Nonetheless, the sounds all feel like the same 2 dudes, pushing air around in the space between my walls, causing me to think about what I'm working on just a little bit differently.
adoro, super chill come della melassa che ti scivola addosso (elettronica)
I have this album and I always come back to it. I'll give it 5* because it's perfect (for me) in what it does. Very atmospheric, creative, and it just sounds great. Acoustic and electronic instruments well mixed.
What a debut album for a band. I don't think I had ever heard anything from it until 10 years after it came out. Boy what I was missing. Love the sound you get from all the different Moog's, synthesizers, and keyboards they used to make this album. I think it would be impossible to find a time when I would not want to listen to this album at this point. Fave track: Kelly Watch The Stars Least fave track: You Make It Easy. It's still good, but just not as good as the rest.
i distinctly remember when this album came out; someone uploaded a track or two from it to my hotline mp3 server, and it was a revelation. i eventually tracked it down & bought the whole thing, and i'm glad i did. that opening bassline on track 1 just sets the tone for the whole album: downtempo groove, laid back - carefree but not careless. delicious.
The sound of the late 90’s. Franco-electro rock/pop. Got heavy rotation on my “romantic” playlist. Great memories. Full marks.
amazing
One of those albums I know back to front. Opens with a fantastic bassline ( and on a real bass not a synth) and a 7 minute journey through some Moog glory. I'm a synth geek and a bass player so this is just like heaven to me. It's an electronic album that still feels mostly organic. Good use of some guest singers to offset some of the vocoder heavy tracks. Lovely melodies and complex arrangements. Not a bad track on this. Amazing debut.
4.6 - Stunning Album, so cool and smooth.
Utterly brilliant, laidback groove. Couple this with their EP Premier Symptomes and you’ve got one of my favourite fictional double albums .
Good album.
5/5 The luscious, endlessly appealing opener sets the bar ridiculously high, but it is immediately followed by a diverse range of beautifully produced tracks. The creepy, otherworldly Sexy Boy, the delicate All I Need, the simple yet fun Kelly Watch the Stars, the larger than life Talisman, the dark and twisting Remember, the full of longing You Make It Easy, the romantic Ce Matin-La, the calming, fantastical New Star in the Sky, and finally the groovy Le voyage de Penelope. All in all this album is just fantastic because of its grand impressive production, shown in a wide variety of ways across the 44 ish minutes. La femme d'argent 5/5 (FAV) Sexy Boy 5/5 All I Need 5/5 Kelly Watch the Stars 4.5/5 Talisman 5/5 Remember 4.5/5 You Make It Easy 4/5 (LEAST FAV) Ce Matin-La 5/5 New Star in the Sky 5/5 La voyage de Penelope 4.5/5
I thought Air was a band from the 60s or 70s. I had no idea this album came out in 1998. If you go into this album thinking it came out in the 60s or 70s it will blow your mind because you will think this is one of the most ahead-of-its-time bands! But then you find out the album is from 1998 and you think woah they made it sound like this was an album from the 60s or 70s that sounded like it was from the future but it really was from the future and trying to sound like it was from the past but with a future vibe... Mind blown 🤯
I'd like to do a new thing where I take comments from negative reviews and agree with them but it's because I guess the person and I don't feel the same way about all things. Yes this absolutely sounds like a coma patient waking up, I love it so much. Imagine feeling that kind of peace and falling in love with the world at first sight.
I loved this and will look at more of their stuff.
A very chill, romantic mood electronic album. I like this?
Incredibly relaxed electronic album with a strong blues influence. Definitely a worthwhile listen and one I’ll return to.
SEXY BOYYYYYYY SEXY BOY
Still the best come down album ever. Not for when you get back from the club, oh no, that’s for different music, but when you've stopped drinking, the sun’s coming up, your heads still buzzing and you finally climb between the sheets, put this on. It will hug you, sooth you and send you on your way. 5* every time.
Ah, the finest middle class sexy time /dinner party album ever (you’ll be lying if you said you’ve not accompanied both with this playing)! Is it original, in a way not, as it’s a re-imagining of the 70s Serge Gainsbourg type sound (I always have this and Histoire de Melody Nelson) linked in my brain). But it’s amazingly original in the sound they bring, and how effin smooth and sexy it is. La Femme D’Argent is just a killer track, so in a way the whole album goes downhill from there but not in a bad way! Could, and have, listened to this and other Air works tonnes of times.
This album accompanied me on many travels. It is the best thing to listen to on long bus journeys in exotic places or laze on a balcony watching the surf. Those Frenchies nailed it.
albums like this are the reason i’m doing this challenge. this was completely unique and i don’t know if i would’ve found it otherwise. i listened to it throughout the day and added the whole album.

la femme d'argent sexy boy talisman remember you make it easy le voyage de pénélope
Ambient psychedelic worlds.
Had been meaning to listen to this album for a while, since I love the song Sexy Boy. Rest of the album ended up being very good as well, in a rare French W. Not sure what genre this is but the whole album has a very floaty/ethereal/mysterious sound and really great unique instrumentals. Great music to chill to. I also like that it's cohesive, so if you like one song you will probably like most others (as was my case). I think my music taste has definitely expanded since starting this because I don't think I would have even considered giving this a 5 back then. Another one where my favourites are pretty much the whole album, honestly would buy this on vinyl
A melhor descoberta desse site em algums dias. Pura psicodelia de sintetizadores incrível misturada com vocal do Eletric Light Orchstra (Remember inclusive me trouxe a mesma energia calma de Still Alive do jogo Portal). Ela começa e finaliza o álbum com duas músicas instrumentais perfeitas. Facilmente 5 estrelas
Perfect album, mooi samenhangend geheel.
It's moon safari. 5/5 What I really love more than anything about this album is how well balanced it is across many spectra. It can feel wrong to describe it as mellowed out, because so many of its motifs and ideas are solidly presented to you, rather than rising beneath you. It simultaneously feels wrong to call it any sort of grand journey or something that takes itself very seriously. And still yet, I wouldn't describe this album as whimsical, or funny, or magical. Almost every song leaves me unsatisfied with the adjectives, adverbs, and metaphors I wrote to describe them. The opening track "La femme d'argent" may lead you to believe this album will be chilled out and mellow. While I think this is somewhat refuted by the whirring, pitchy motif later in the song, it's a reasonable prediction. Then "Sexy Boy" hits and already, you are on the other side of the spectrum compared to the opener. This song pulses like an erection, and intoxicates like one. Later in the album, the song "Talisman" is almost reminiscent of a triumphant spy movie soundtrack. "Kelly watch the stars" and "Remember" are soaked in this electronic, wondering at the stars atmosphere. On and on it goes, every song has an insanely unique approach, with detailed strokes across trip-hop, electronic, and jazz. This is a rare album that I feel excels in many more directions than other albums I've given 5/5. Moon Safari is a versatile, masterful work, through and through.
Sexy French floaty low-fi beats? Oui, oui!
Great album been listening to this album for years. Several outstanding tracks including all I need, you make it easy, sexy boy. My favourite is always Ce matin-la.
Great mood music. Very soothing and very retro.
Honestly I’ve surprised how good this album was. Very chilled but very melodic.
Perfect
Top work music
lo fi chill beats to dissociate to
so smooth, so breezy... if frutiger aero was an album.
The birth of chill - a lush, spacey sound that fuses French pop, ’60s lounge music, and sci-fi soundtracks.
Just gorgeous. I stumbled upon it a few years ago, and it's been in heavy rotation since.
Favorite Tracks: All I Need La femme d’argent Sexy Boy
One of my absolute favorite albums and a gem of the downtempo style. Whether you're on a date, falling asleep, or gently floating through space, this is the perfect soundtrack. I bought this album 25 years ago and it's still just as fresh as my first listen.
I'm only 12 days into this project and pulling this album is exactly what I wanted to get out of doing this generator. I've never heard of Air before and barely ever listen to electronic music as I lean more towards hard rock and heavy metal, but halfway through this album I had already connected with it so much that I went out and bought a concert ticket to see Air performing Moon Safari in full here in London. When an album can sell you on a concert the first time listening that's how you know it's an instant classic. Its the kind of album I feel like I've been missing out on but glad I've found it now. Highlights for me are "La Femme D'Argent", "Talisman", "All I Need" and "Sexy Boy", but honestly the entire album is just dripping cool.
Really good
Delightful. This was such a pleasure. The long ass instrumental opening was awesome then followed by the BANGER that was sexy boy had me hooked. I loved the weird 90s electronic sound this had. Brilliant
Air are Daft Punk’s older, cooler cousins - smoking Gitanes behind the bike sheds and wearing stripy jumpers in a post modern, ironic way. They take the lush soundscapes of 60’s Nouvelle Vague cinema, add bloopy 70s modular synths and classic moogs, and top it off with some banging dance tracks (Sexy Boy and Kelly Watch the Stars being highlights). If you have the means to play it, the Dolby Atmos mix of this sounds immense!
All I Need is all I need to give this album 5 stars
I absolutely love La femme d'argent, but have never checked out other stuff by Air. This album was a treat from start to finish. I don't think any of the songs that were new to me were better than La femme d'argent, but they were still great and the album as a whole was a great time.
I liked it but i need to listen to it again
One of my favorites!
Loved this.
Really enjoyed this! Smooth and cool, retro but modern. A nice sound.
What an absolutely lovely album! So very pleasant to listen to. Soothing!
A very soothing selection for the end of a sad week. Much appreciated.
I discovered this album after seeing the movie The Virgin Suicides and falling in love with Air’s soundtrack. When I saw this in the record store I bought it and loved it even more. This is one of those groups that managed to create a masterpiece of a first album. I was transfixed on the first listen, and tonight after what is probably 100s of listens I still am in love with this. I put this on and am a much cooler person in a much cooler place. It’s smooth, mesmerizing, and manages to be both soothing and energizing at the same time. A marvel of electronic music!
I mean give my instrumental electronica any day and I'll be pretty happy. Throw in some pretty simple lyrics on top and you've got a winner. I was just discovering this style of music when a friend introduced me to Air back in college. Back then I didn't have access to Spotify so only had a couple of tracks that he had shared with me, but man did it slap. I'm really happy to come across them again on this list and get a deeper dive. The crunchy bass on this is truly excellent and really elevates Moon Safari to the next level. Sexy Boy and All I Need are classics of course, but there's a lot to love on pretty much every track.
Slowed down Lo-Fi Electro with groovy bass lines. Good vocals on a couple tracks. Almost sounds like a movie soundtrack.
An original and completely unique electronica/downtempo/chillout album, highly enjoyable to listen to. I've always liked moody and atmospheric albums like this and it deserves no less than a 5 from me.
Quintessential music to roll to. I've always loved this album, even though I've always hated Ecstasy. Ah, those heady pre-911 days, before the world lost its mind, and chill rooms were actually possible and not just something to ridicule. This music instantly calms me down and makes me feel very - well - airy.
I've been tryna think of some kind of big through-line; some essay-style framework to write this review around, but nah, man. This is just some good-ass chill music. **Really** good-ass chill music. Like, within the first 30 seconds, I dug it so hard. Absolutely something I'm gonna put on in the future to kick back to. Hell, if my sleep schedule still meant I'd get up in the morning, I'd put it alongside FRIENDS by The Beach Boys and MOTHER EARTH'S PLANTASIA as a great "wake up, start the day" album. I mean, I don't even know what to say about the album specifically; it's just vibes too hard for that, and I'm all for it. And big shout-out, too, for the fact that The Moog Cookbook, a group I **really** like, remixed one of the songs on here. That's a damn cherry on top, and I don't even like cherries.
Very vibey and was exactly what I was looking for as a mood
This ruled. French electronica
I LOVE this. I was raised in USA. The French scene there, especially back in the day, was very niche and not largely present. I heard this music on college radio and loved it, but had no idea who it was, where it came from, nada. So now all these years latter have a name with a face with music I love! Great!
Superb album! Every song is a banger!
This is great for zoning out during commutes! I listened while driving to work this morning--it enhanced those dumb little moments...you know when you're passing a truck or changing lanes. Some tracks make driving feel like sailing.
James: Ethereal jazz vibes. Airy. Mary: Reminds me of Pink Floyd (not the vocals). Spacey vibes. Moon Safari feels like a very appropriate title ... James: Yeah, for this exploration into the vast and wide open sound that takes you on a hypnotic tour of sonic vibrations.
Great
First time hearing this band and I loved it. listened to all the work for the rest of the day.
One of the rare ones I’ve gone back and listened to immediately again. Slowcore Daft Punk vibes throughout. Made for a good start to the week. Highly recommend.
Stellar sonic creation.
Iconic bass lines and such a cool laid back energy. Faves: La femme -bass line kills! especially at timestamp 4:00 Talisman -the mix of synth, bass, and strings is epic. Very 007
Are you kidding me!! This made me grumpy at all the other shitty electronica albums we listen to, this is how it should be done, the sounds are so nice! Capa#9
Toca reescuchar una banda y un disco que no oía hace años. Ideal para un momento nocturno (una cena o una situación más íntima), para cocinar tranca o para bajar un cambio en cualquier momento del día. Hermosa la capacidad de la música para domar los ánimos.
This an album of 5/5 Added to my Lounge Atmosphere folder 📂 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yep yep
uhmm fucking excellent
A pretty darn perfect electronic album. The grooves are immaculate and it’s got a great balance of fun bangers and just really lovely more ambient cuts. I find that quite a lot of electronic albums can get a bit samey or overstay their welcome whereas this is diverse, always exciting, and leaves me wanting more
Liked this one overall.
An all-time classic in atmospheric electronic music. The production is excellent, and the music itself never fails to put you in a good mood. Fav Tracks: La femme d'argent, Sexy Boy, All I Need, Talisman, Remember, You Make It Easy, Le voyage de Penelope Least Fav Track: New Star in the Sky 9/10
Love it, one of my favourites from back in the day
The Shins scene from Garden State but instead it's my friend's girlfriend Ada putting this on to help me come down from a bad trip in 2004. Forever grateful to you, Air!
Such a great ambient, atmospheric electronic record. The only electronic music I’ve really vibed with is Daft Punk and this also scratched my itch. It’s not dance house but I loved the layering of multiple instruments as each layer was interesting and soothing. A really great album to chill to.
This one is so nostalgic. I have heard of Air before but never knew that I knew their songs so well. The first three songs on this album just take me straight back to sitting in my parents car on a long car journey, it's getting kinda late, watching raindrops fall down my window and listening to this via the vibration in the car door. Musically it's very solid but personally nostalgia takes over my opinion on this. Great album.
Annnnnnd chillllll
Geil. Schonmal gehört...
Epic. Kinda Alanis Morisette meets psychedelic industrial factory vibe but without all of the stomach pumping. Will listen to again and again.
We've listened to this three times through now because we keep forgetting to rate it, then listening to it again to remind ourselves. The second the album starts it is a groove: sensual and rhythmic. A very good album that has taken us by surprise and one we will very listening to again. (Somehow the album name doesn't fit with the vibe, which is why I think we keep forgetting it.)
A classic
THE FRENCH MAKE THE BEST ELECTRONIC IN THE WORLD. I REMEMBER FINDING THIS ALBUM RANDOMLY AFTER CRAVING MORE DAFT PUNK AND AHHHHH SO MANY GREAT MOMENTS. SO SPACEY. Remember was one of the highlights for my early college life just walking around campus not knowing what I wanted just pretending to know what they were saying in French. GOD IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL THIS IS WHAT LIFE SHOULD SOUND LIKE ALL THE TIME. LIFE IS SO HARD MAN AND ALBUMS LIKE THIS MAKE IT EASIER KEEP EM COMING
WO, c'est comme du Daft Punk Lo-Fi, j'adore
What an album. Playing it over and over trying (and failing) to appear smart and sophisticated and it still completely hits the spot to this day. Easily in my personal Top 50 I reckon.
This could be the default music in my head at all times
I enjoyed this album and already had selection of theirs on one of my playlists.
Surprisingly good and entertaining. Will be adding to my collection
I love everything from this band. This album in particular is a straight up masterpiece.
Great, chill vibes!
I’m a sucker for downtempo space pop.
Cheesy but still a classic
Vibealicious
Still a fan
Fun album. I'm not big on mostly instrumental albums but this was great. Reminded me of MGMT style music.
Not normally my cup o’ tea, but as electronic music goes Moon Safari is about as good as it gets. Sexy Boy is the standout track. This record is all-time.
Difficult to rate this as I can't pretend it's my first listen - I've known and loved this for at least 15 years. Great album, beautiful from start to finish.
Very chill
💖 la femme d’argent 🗣️ 🔟
Great stuff, love the vibe
5/5 simplemente increíble, todo en ese álbum me enamora y causa un sentimiento de euforia en mi
I can not say enough about this album It has and will always be one of my absolute favourites
Literally one of my favourite albums from my teen years - saw them live at royal festival hall with my mum in 2005
Very nice! Best track: La femme d’argent
I really enjoyed this
It’s a fucking great album
Really enjoyed this album. Sounds like a fusion of Gorillaz, Daft Punk, Indie, Lofi, triphop, Portishead. 4.85
Ya lo conocía. Tengo un cd de ellos, pero no es éste. Venga, le doy un 5.
outstanding
It’s so smooth like listening to this music feels like floating but then there’s ones like sexy boy that just feel hot … loved it so much
Amazing incredible astounding innovative
Oh yes! Wish there were 8 stars or „super likes“
Best geinige cover!
I was obsessed with sexy boy when I watched skam in year 10. Also recognized all I need. Really nice instrumentals. good chill album
Very nice, chill beats. 5/5
On ronfle
la sieste de zinzin
love it
I loved this album, it was full of cool synth parts, and has great vocals and cohesion. reminds me a lot of portishead and mort garson’s plantasia.
What's not to like?
One of those ones I'm delighted to see pop up. Love this album and it's been a long time since i've given it a spin. easy 5*s
One of my all time favorite albums.
As fresh, chill, and unique as electronic music can be. This is a masterpiece of the genre.
Such a chill album, a precursor to Zero 7 and other 00’s downtempo/chill-hop. Love it.
I love it, it's already one of the album I put on to relax
Ive heard it. They wrote sexy boy about me
Seminal electronica. Was ground breaking on release and still sounds fresh today
What an album. Fucking love it. Always have.
La femme d'argent Sexy Boy All I Need Ce martin-là
This sort of atmospheric music is a real and whole experience
I like it
Takich właśnie szukam 🙂
transcendent...
Extremely unique! A hidden gem of the late 90s!
Excellent vibes from start to finish.
I liked this more and more as it played on. Beth Hirsh's sings killed my. So sweet. This is almost a genre into itself I thought. But when Spotify played massive attack and portished I wondered if I haven't kissed s while gender of sweet ethereal rock
Reminds me of Portishead, I liked it.
Great album
I LOVED this album. A solid 4.5/5 for me but I’m gonna bump it upwards because it was such a surprise. This is what I wanted Royksopp’s album to be. A down tempo, chill album that forays into other genres. As a huge fan of Daft Punk, Justice, DJ Mehdi and other 90s French Electro artists, I can see a lot of influence from this album in their later works. Hell, Discovery by Daft Punk seems like it took a lot of its down tempo inspiration from this album. Really solid. This is going on the rotation for sure
A unique sound I’ll be going back to a lot
Dig it
I love this. Just feels groovy but with a twist? I'd love to know how to better describe the baselines and sound quality.
I wasn't familiar with Air before but this album is really fun. I am interested in checking out their other albums now. They're a nice complement to Daft Punk, the only other French electronic act I know from the modern era.
Still sounds really good. I don’t like the two songs with Beth Hirsch as much as I used to— her vocals give me strong ‘generic late ‘90s female guest singer’ vibes. I think I’d still like those two songs with a different lead singer. Someone with breathier vocals like Francoise Hardy, who sang on one of the b-sides of the Sexy Boy single. Anyway, Sexy Boy is still great. I’ve had it, along with Remember and Kelly Watch the Stars, stuck in my head on a loop for the past several days. Several of the instrumentals deserve mention as well, providing some of the strongest material on the album. I’m glad this still sounds good. I really liked Air’s material up through Talkie Walkie, after which there seemed to be a sharp decline in Air quality. I’d probably give this a 4.5. Some days I round up and some days I round down. I’m feeling generous today.
I think I first heard about Air from my friend Mike in 2004 when Talkie Walkie released, and initially resisted them based on hearing that album's three singles over and over. I've since grown to love Air. I like this album start to finish and it's a rare album I wouldn't skip a track on. Fantastic use of the Fender Rhodes and just excellently mixed. 5 stars and that's not just because Robert Dimery has been giving us a lot of stinkers recently.
Beautiful album to relax and chill to. The synths, pads and other instrumentation just all weave together so well to create an ethereal and transcendental piece of art that manages to be extremely soothing and relaxing, but still does enough to never become old or stale. It's one of the highlights of the Downtempo genre for sure. While it's certainly not one for driving or working to, this is absolutely the kind of thing I can just chill with. I think this'd make for a good one to get on vinyl. Favourite: All I Need
Kelly watched the stars/10. Air one of my favorites. A classic album.
Dit album was echt verrassend goed! Ik ga dit vaak aanzetten. Heel nice.
Excellent
Ya lo conocía. Tengo un cd de ellos, pero no es éste. Venga, le doy un 5.
Brilliant album from start to finish. I picked up this album from a record store in NYC back during spring break in 2005. I fell in love with this album immediately and long to savor it for the first time again.
oh my it's so good !!! iconic, even !!!
French electronica ❤️
Brilliant. Need it in my life.
This is downtemp/trip hop before it became a thing even. Innovative for its, and standing the test of, time.
A great record. Moon Safari is just so smooth and relaxing.
Put bluntly, the best album I’ve heard in a while, and I feel no need to elaborate furthur
Not the best French electro pop album I’ve ever heard but pretty close, plus major nostalgia points for me having heard this album many times as a youth.
Fell in love with this album 20 years ago! Great to hear it again.
such a bitch for air
This is not a good album with some great tracks, it's a great album with some good tracks. And two kinda janky ones. All I need is beautiful in a way I'd find it difficult to express fully. Sexy Boy and Kelly Watch The Stars are perhaps the two weakest tracks on the album, and both of them were released as singles. Which probably goes a long way to justifying this as a great album.
I've actually listened to this one a lot over the last year or so because it is ambient and that helps me work on things without the distraction of lyrics. I know nothing about the band and nothing about any of this, but I love the textures and the grooves. Since it is on regularly in my house...I'm going 5 stars.
A very inventive electronica classic with numerous genre influences. Not perfect, but pretty damn good. Low 5 star
One of the greatest albums of all time
Have I heard about Air? Probably couple times, but never about a band with this name. And that's a mistake, because "Moon Safari" is a really peaceful and very atmospheric electronic music, apparently opening the doors for downtime bands all around the world. The album is filled with many great moments and beats, it was a lot of fun from start to finish. It's not the greatest record of all time, but it hits all the right tones.
if I'm in the mood for it this album makes me absolutely transcend, so good for so many different occasions
have loved many years
absolute classic of the era
Excellent!
Enorm relaxed album waar ik enkele hitjes al van kende. Ik geef ietwat makkelijk 5 sterren hiervoor.
This album was incredibly good; I cannot believe I have not heard about this before (somehow). Easily a five star album, gave it at least two spins yesterday. Need to dive really deep into this. Just love the vibe. The first song on the album is amazing!
there are two things the french are good at: 1. rioting 2. electronic music fav songs: new star in the sky, you make it easy, kelly watch the stars
Tracks heard before: 'Sexy Boy' (probably because I have watched 'Ten Things I Hate About You'). This is amazing electronic music two tracks in! Atmospheric soundscapes. I can see why they were picked to make the soundtrack for the film 'The Virgin Suicides' -- it strikes me as the kind of music that would complement the film perfectly. Beth Hirsch reminds me of Beth Gibbins from Portishead. This album reminds me of Daft Punk if they weren't Daft Punk. I suppose both are French. 'Moon Safari' is fantastic. I can understand why one of the top reviews thought it was 'elevator music' but I can't say I agree in any way. It's relaxing and just what I needed today. Ooo, and they're French. 9.5/10.
It's just a great excellent for chill listening
Effortlessly cool without feeling shallow. A nice blend of acoustics and electronics. Definitely an album I can see myself throwing back on
a really lovely album, and a surprise — all the french electronic music i’ve heard before has been very club/industrial, so this was a great change of pace. everything here feels very intentional, and this is an album i’ll come back to for sure
Liked this way more than i had been expecting. Sexy Boy is a JAM.
What's with French electronic duos making everything else in the genre look like child's play? This was great, I loved how mellow it was, and some of the production felt years ahead of other electronic acts. Really chill, but never boring, and the mix of vocal and instrumental tracks kept the album fresh throughout.
Awesome album, trippy, chilled, uplifting!
Très français. Très chill. When chillout went mainstream. An album for those who found Daft Punk too gauche.
Semplicemente perfetto, un trip totale
Wow! This is a gorgeous album. Been meaning to listen to it, glad the issue finally got forced. The first half is 5/5 easily, especially Sexy Boy and Kelly Watch The Stars.
Cinematic infectious booty shaking kitsch.
Awesome! 5 / 5 stars.
Dreamy
This is a fantastic album, been listening to this since I was a teenager. There are no bad songs on it, and the first half has several perfect ones. The bassline on "La Femme D'Argent" is heavenly.
Superb album, one of the greatest electronic chill records ever made
When I started my One Album A Day project and saw that this was my first album I was ecstatic. I was already very familiar with Air, and Moon Safari is one of my all time favourite albums. "La femme d'argent" has one of the catchiest bass riffs that often pops into my head from time to time. The whole album is so dreamy and chill, and just a joy to listen too while relaxing.
Makkelijke keuze natuurlijk.
Chilled out scenic fun
Stellar!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is one of those funny little anomalies that occur from time to time - it's an album I absolutely love and adore but I have never once owned a physical copy of it on any medium. Which sometimes leads to longer spells than usual between listens. The downside to this is only that it's kind of ridiculous I've never owned a copy. The upside to this is I feel like I get to rediscover the album once or twice a year - and every time it brings me so much joy. This album has aged well - I'm certain I enjoy it more now than I did when it came out. Lush vibes that feel sophisticated and pleasurable the whole way through. "Sexy Boy" is my jam, and would absolutely be my entrance music if I were a wrestler.
Æðisleg plata, bæði á eigin forsendum og nostalgískum. Svo góð lög, ljúf og töff í senn. Ég man alltaf eftir Þossa, þá á X-inu, kynna Kelly watch the stars með tilvísun í stjörnurnar á HM í Frakklandi 98. Frábært HM, og frábær plata.
Een van mijn favoriete albums, zo warm, zo luisterbaar, zo onmiskenbaar Air. Origineel qua productie, melodiën, en arrangementen. Baanbrekend album!
Classic album
Poppy, chilled, much better than I expected
Todo un viaje por una epoca menos complicada.
Great album
It's difficult to give this an unbiased review because I used to listen to this album repeatedly in college. I still think it's great
If I was in a sensory deprivation tank floating in space something tells me this is the soundtrack that would probably start to play in my mind
