3 - Michael Jackson is that you?
Thought it had some great beats. Very repetitive though, so glad i managed to get through it in one sitting.

The Who

3.4 - I liked it, but nothing really grabbed me outside of My Generation. Do I think The Who are over rated? Maybe but I think I need to give them more time also.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

3.5 - amazing musician, just was a bit too much for a whole album
Herbie Hancock

a-ha
3/5
3.4 - Enjoyed, not sure if it breaks into the 4's though
Gorillaz
4/5
4.3 - going into to this I thought it was going to drag and grate on me. I was very wrong, I actually found it so much more refreshing. Definitely deserves its place on the list
The Rolling Stones
3/5
3- I’m not sure how I feel about the stones, I think this album would normally be higher for me. Just felt it being quite rusty but not in a nice way
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
2/5
2 - Not for me this
Hüsker Dü
3/5
3 - Liked the music but the voice I found quite grating
Hugh Masekela
5/5
4.8 - Almost flawless album, the only reason this isn't a solid 5 is that it occasionally feels a bit long. That might just be me though and feels harsh in saying.
But I just loved listening and put me in a good mood, which is rare
Tom Waits
5/5
Curtis Mayfield
3/5
3.8 - Solid album and some great songs, felt a bit too similar though
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

4 - just a great solid album for me
Adele
2/5
2.4 - I feel like she has an incredible voice, but it all seems to perfect in a very synthetic way. AI will remake this in a couple of years
Beth Orton
4/5
4.2 - another lovely album. Loved her voice, which some might not.
Bert Jansch
3/5
3.5 - very talented and the songs would be great listening to about 5. After that it felt a bit too intense. Feel like it needed editing down as an album
Miles Davis
4/5
4 - he’s very good, quite similar but I think that’s jazz. If I sat and really listened I think I would hear the intricacy but I think that’s a me problem
The Isley Brothers
4/5
3.9 - great album, not much else to say tbh
Mike Oldfield
3/5
3 - not sure how I felt really.
The Divine Comedy
4/5
4.4 - never heard of this and absolutely loved it. Felt like a very random album for the 90s. Definitely will listen to more
Radiohead
5/5
5/5 - a perfect album in my mind. The way they effortlessly take the foot of the pedal into superb guitar riffs and chilling vocals is fucking cool. Let the haters think they’re cool
Black Flag
1/5
0.5 - the reason this isn’t 0 is because they played some instruments
Brian Eno
3/5
3.2 - parts are good and was creative, but just didn’t land for me
Amy Winehouse
3/5
3 - enjoyable good songs, great voice. I dunno, it’s just abut generic after a while. She was obviously very talented but would rather something a lot less produced and raw
Tortoise
4/5
4 - really enjoyed it, a great journey
Afrika Bambaataa
3/5
3.5 -pretty good, I feel like I was in a school disco when I was 10 when I was listening sometimes. Liked who you funkin with?
The Waterboys
5/5
4.9 - I love this album, listened to it loads already
Iggy Pop
4/5
4 - Difficult one for me. I love Iggy at his best but some tracks just bring the album down. I think he’s so himself that I can’t not like it though.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
4/5
4.4 - love rhcp. I think people can be a bit pretentious about them and also some people don’t like them which is also fine.
Finley Quaye
3/5
3.5 - I’m not a big reggae fan honestly but this album surprised me and didn’t hate it.
Beck
3/5
3.4 - I feel like have the potential to be a big Beck fan, but I don’t think I like him much as a person and don’t connect with the music. I thought it was quite similar to the eels too. Maybe I’d need to see him live
Butthole Surfers
3/5
3 - so I think this made a lot more sense than black flag. It felt angry and angsty and did land. I thought I was going to really hate it but just didn’t. Some parts were really hard though.
David Bowie
4/5
4 - sound and vision is so good. I’m quite tired so haven’t got much coming to mind. Bowie good
The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
4/5
3.8 - enjoyed this but definitely felt too similar do an album
Dusty Springfield
3/5
3.4 - this album needs trimming down badly. Feel like there are some really generic filler songs and it’s too long. Amazing voice and really great songs though
R.E.M.
5/5
4.8 - I find REM’s lyrics evoke so much nostalgia in me. I absolutely love this album and get’s better every listen for me. Nightswimming is timeless.
Mekons
4/5
3.8 - some songs were a bit challenging but overall enjoyed
Various Artists
3/5
2.5 - Christmas song innit.
I do think it would be higher if I’d listened on Christmas
The Byrds
2/5
2.7 - I found this album really boring. I wasn’t much of a fan
Jeff Buckley
5/5
4.8 - I didn't think I was going to like this as much as I did. I've always liked Buckley's live album and thought I was just going to wait for hallelujah to come on, but the whole album just felt complete. I think some might be turned off by his voice, but fuck em
TLC
4/5
3.7 - Really good, was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. great 90's
The Verve
4/5
4 - Very easy listening, but feel like the whole album is eclipsed by bittersweet symphony. No bad songs, but nothing that rivals the first.
Air
3/5
3.4 - Thought I'd enjoy this more, but maybe it was my mood. Moon safari is just better imo
Lynyrd Skynyrd
5/5
4.5 - The top tier of classic rock. Simple man is my fave track
Depeche Mode
4/5
3.9 - I liked this the more I listened. I feel like parts were very Tim Burton esque or which ever came first. When it's good, it's really cool.
Grant Lee Buffalo
5/5
4.7 - I loved this album. I have listened to them a fair bit but not sat down to the whole album. Maybe I just love melancholic music, dunno
4/5
4 - Really enjoyed this, thought it was just a great listen
Scritti Politti
3/5
3 - Michael Jackson is that you?
Thought it had some great beats. Very repetitive though, so glad i managed to get through it in one sitting.
Sigur Rós
5/5
4.5 - Beautiful album and very epic. It tailed off a little bit at the end
3/5
2.5 - I feel like musically they are fucking great. However I just can't get behind the lyrics. His horrible announcer voice is so american and I feel like it's the theme song to every 15 year old bully in the early 2000's
Deep Purple
3/5
2.7 - Talented musicians but indulgent and not as cool as they think they are
ABBA
4/5
3.8 - Really enjoyed, I like ABBA, I grew up with ABBA, some people hate ABBA, I am not one of those.
I do think there are stand out songs and as an album didn't think much of it. I'd rather stick on ABBA gold and get the best shit.
Tom Waits
5/5
4.7 - I really loved this, I enjoy that he's just a totally different mind and throws you into a different way of listening to music. He almost forces you to sit and experience it, and sometimes it's harder to listen to and other times it has tenderness. But most art forms that's what they are meant to do, why does music always have to be easy?
Pet Shop Boys
2/5
2 - Not for me. Don't like the lyrics and find it all a bit repetitive
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
4.1 - Really great live/studio album. I think there are a few filler songs but Hey hey, my my is my favourite.
Stevie Wonder
4/5
4.1 - great album, tired not got much to say
Madonna
1/5
1.4 - Honestly got a bit annoyed listening to this. Not sure if that's cos I was feeling generally irritable, but felt like it was random sayings over techno-pop.
The Temptations
4/5
4.1 - Great tunes, didn't realise papa was a rolling stone was so long. Very much enjoyed
ZZ Top
4/5
3.8 - great album, nothing ground breaking. Think there are better zz top albums
Talvin Singh
3/5
3.4 - Difficult one for me, found that I enjoyed parts but other times felt like it was dragging. It's pretty unique but just not sure if I'd fancy sitting down to listen to it again. I think the electronic elements would sometimes marry up really well, and other times feel repetitive and grating.
Aimee Mann
4/5
4.2 - lovely album, up my street this
David Ackles
2/5
2.4 - I thought I was going to like this when I first started listening, but then found him a little bit whiny and a bit 'woe is me'. Like it had some nice songs but as an album it dragged
Supertramp
4/5
4.4 - Wow this really took me by surprise. I’ve listened a bit to super tramp and thought they were okay but straight away I just loved this. This was another album that I would never have come across without the list. With some more listening it could be a 5
Peter Frampton
3/5
3.4 - I'm not sure how I feel about live albums honestly, unless they are the sessions. Really like the songs and some great guitar solo's though
The Last Shadow Puppets
2/5
2 - Actually ruined my morning. Alex Turner's voice has hit new highs of drawling, boring tones.
I might just be in a bad mood.
U2
4/5
3.6 - Enjoyed this, think I was surprised that it was better than I expected
Red Hot Chili Peppers
4/5
4 - This definitely needs editing down, some filler songs in there, but when its good it's great
Suicide
1/5
1 - This is what it sounds like when you let people high on heroin loose with recording equipment.
In all seriousness though, I found it pretty horrible to listen too and I felt the emotions that they intended the audience to feel. The screaming was too much and a bit over the top.
Dire Straits
5/5
4.8 - Mark Knopfler is amongst the most legendary guitarists of our generation. Never listened to the whole album and was surprised about how refined it was as an album. Sultans of Swing is amazing and was happy that it didn't overshadow the rest of the album, which I feel can happen with a lot of the albums on the list.
Led Zeppelin
4/5
4.1 - Very iconic, great songs, great voice. Some songs get a little messy
Leonard Cohen
5/5
4.8 - I felt like this is such a pure album, it feels like a performance rather than just a bunch of songs. Love his lyrics and voice.
Cowboy Junkies
4/5
4.2 - Loved the melancholic tones of this album. Not a master piece but a solid album for me.
Eels
4/5
4.3 - Great album, seen them live and prefer this more than later stuff I think
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
1/5
1.2 - Christ. Well ‘next’ was at least a bit more interesting.
Paul McCartney
5/5
4.8 - Paul McCartney in his prime. I feel like he's really letting himself flourish after leaving the Beatles. Loved the whole thing
DJ Shadow
3/5
3.4 - It was good, but not sure how much it did for me. Maybe I'm being a little bit snobby
Eminem
2/5
2.3 - it’s just not for me
Slade
3/5
2.6 - I think it was fine, nothing iconic
2/5
2.2 - I could not hear a word they sang and feel like the sound was just shit. Vocals i didnt like and just felt like a wall of noise. Maybe there is a great band there but not sure
Marty Robbins
3/5
3.4 - it was nice, but quite samey
The Roots
2/5
2 - The only song I liked was the seed. The rest not for me
808 State
2/5
1.8 - I've never been into this and don't think I ever will be.
Ghostface Killah
3/5
3.3 - enjoyed this more than I thought I was going to, not quite sure about parts and I’m not a fan of sketch songs in general but yeah not bad
Creedence Clearwater Revival
5/5
4.5 - Dad rock I can get behind! Honestly have always liked CCR but never listened to a whole album, but was surprised how much more it made me like them
Bee Gees
4/5
4.1 - I’ve not listened outside the hits with the Bee Gees, but kinda knew they had different music style. Thought this was really good and sometimes felt Bowie esque to me
Suede
3/5
2.8 - It was fine, quite forgettable. Did like He's dead though
Radiohead
5/5
4.6 - stunning album. But if I’m being harsh, it’s not better than the bends for me. Still a 5 though
Beyoncé
2/5
2 - didn’t click with me
Jorge Ben Jor
4/5
3.8 - this was a nice surprise. Instrumental parts were sick. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I actually thought his voice ruined it a little. I loved the beginning, but it started to feel too similar towards the end.
CHVRCHES
1/5
1 - I had heard of these guys but never listened to them, and was surprised to see them on the list. I was excited to see if I’d been missing out all this time…I had not.
This album does not belong on this list. Every song sounded the same, there was nothing ground breaking in it. Against other albums in this list it lacks any maturity.
Foo Fighters
3/5
2.5 - much prefer the later stuff. I liked the last song the most
Kraftwerk
2/5
2.4 - I’ve seen them live and my opinion hasn’t really changed. They are important, but I don’t think it’s aged well. When the album started I was ready to enjoy it, but it just got a bit torturous.
Holger Czukay
4/5
4 - I found this super interesting and fun. Really chaotic and it sounds like a moment of creative madness. Parts reminded me of Destroyer but also just very eclectic. 2018 as well which was a surprise.
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
4.5 - Absolutely love this and think he's another top guitarist of our generation.
Why does little wing fade out? Why????
Robbie Williams
3/5
2.9 - I actually didn't hate it. Some nice songs in there. Does feel like Angels and Let me entertain you are the big fishes.
Beastie Boys
3/5
3.4 - I actually have always really liked beastie boys. I find them fun and silly. I think this album is a bit too much of them being screechy but some bangers for sure. I get why people hate them but I just can’t lie to myself that I enjoy it.
Talking Heads
5/5
4.5 - loved this, looking forward to more talking heads. I actually like the alternative versions quite a lot which doesn’t happen often for me.
Blondie
4/5
3.5 - struggling to rate. I really like some tracks but others felt very filler
Creedence Clearwater Revival
4/5
4 - liked it but didn’t grip me as much as the other album
Marvin Gaye
3/5
3.4 - it was good but I don’t think I’d sit and listen again
Muddy Waters
4/5
4.3 - love this, more blues please
Guns N' Roses
4/5
3.8 - over played, but that’s not their fault. Actually enjoyed it a lot more in album form
Raekwon
4/5
3.5 - im enjoying it but there is a lot of it
Nightmares On Wax
2/5
1.8 - found this pretty torturous honestly. It was just really dull and uninteresting. I’d phase back in and realise I’ve been listening to the same beat for 7 minutes. Insomnia in music form
Duke Ellington
4/5
4.3 - Really enjoyed this, feel like I could listen to it for ages
Jurassic 5
4/5
4.2 - Loved this, but is that cos it's quite easy listening and good vibes?
The Chemical Brothers
4/5
4.2 - Okay this started out as a struggle and the whistle was waaaaaaaay to much, but I stopped and came back to it when I was editing instead of driving and it felt so much better. It was a really strong ending IMO and deffo would re listen in better circumstances.
Led Zeppelin
4/5
4 - Feel like the dad rock is seeping into my veins. Enjoyed this a lot and felt in the right headspace for it.
Santana
4/5
3.7 - I've never been gripped by Santana but I liked this album. I think he deserves a 5 but for me personally, I just don't connect with it
Brian Eno
4/5
3.5 - I'm not sure what to make of this album, I really enjoyed parts but other parts felt like they were just a bit nothing. It didn't offend me but also didn't make me feel too much. Maybe a re listen at some point.
Aretha Franklin
5/5
4.9 - this was an amazing album, fave track was good to me as I am to you. King Curtis and Eric Clapton as well. Just great.
Pretenders
4/5
4.4 - this was really really good. Definitely going to be in my cycle of listening and want to explore more of them
Blood, Sweat & Tears
4/5
4.2 - never heard of them before, pretty interesting and musically very cool. Would like to re listen to get more appreciation
The Birthday Party
4/5
4.2 - never heard of them before, pretty interesting and musically very cool. Would like to re listen to get more appreciation
Sly & The Family Stone
5/5
4.5 - so much more than their biggest hit, really loved it and thought it had a lot of depth
The Police
3/5
3 - pretty good, and some cool songs but I found it more bland than I thought
Joan Armatrading
5/5
4.9 - I’ve always had down to zero on my playlist, but never listened to more. So grateful this was on the list. So much emotion and just a stunning album
SAULT
3/5
3 - Some parts were really nice, but some parts felt a bit repetitive.
Janis Joplin
5/5
4.5 - Her voice is so unique and has a lot of depth. Loved this album a lot. Me and Bobby McGee has been a staple of mine for a long time
Dolly Parton
4/5
4.3 - This was great. I think I expected more though, but still fantastic.
Bob Dylan
5/5
5/5 this was such an enjoyable ramble and music that’s very pure for me. Just fantastic.
Songhoy Blues
4/5
4 - I really enjoy desert blues
Stereo MC's
3/5
2.8 - It was fine, nothing that amazing and felt very repetitive in parts. Just didn't give me any emotion at all.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
5/5
4.6 - I felt like I was going to get a bit bored of creedence with this being the 3rd album, but felt this was really fucking good. Loved wrote a song for everyone.
Orbital
3/5
3.3 - I didnt hate this and almost got into a bit of a trance listening. I don't know if this music will ever stay with me like other music, but will always give it a go.
David Bowie
4/5
4.4 - Almost a 5. I feel like with repeat listens, this will get better and better. I really enjoyed this album and obviously golden years is such a tune. Definitely peaking my interest in wanting to listen to more bowie that I don't know.
Willie Nelson
2/5
2 - I really did not like this. I was quite looking forward to listening as I'd never listened much before. I think halfway through I had to check I hadn't put the songs on repeat. It felt really just boring.
Genesis
2/5
2 - This was just not on my frequency. The first disc was just not enjoyable to listen to until Carpet Crawlers. Second disc was better, but nothing really stood out. There were brief moments I thought it was cool, but overall it felt just a struggle.
Steely Dan
4/5
3.8 - This was just good solid music in my opinion. Any Major Dude was a great tune and has been in my playlist. I hoping Can't Buy a Thrill is on this list.
The Byrds
2/5
2.4 - I dunno, I feel I should really like this band. Again, just didn't click with it and nothing really stood out to me.
Madonna
4/5
3.8 - actually liked this a lot more than beyond light.
Pet Shop Boys
2/5
2.3 - really repetitive and just not into it
Simon & Garfunkel
5/5
4.8 - loved this album a lot. Listened to Simon and Garfunkel a lot when I was young because of parents but never this album in full.
Bob Dylan
5/5
4.8 - Absolutely great album. Some great use of harmonica.
I think this albums only flaw is that it’s a bit too long, but other than that it was fantastic
Taylor Swift
4/5
4.3 - this album surprised me a lot and thought it was really beautiful.
However, I’m not sure if it’s swifts lyrics or her delivery that doesn’t quite sit for me. Aaron dessner brings an amazing musicality to Taylor swift and I think it works well. My issue is more to do with lyrics I find unsubtle and a bit cringey. But that’s just me I think
Neil Young
5/5
4.9 - another great album, just classic Neil Young. This is just my wheel house
Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
3/5
2.7 - Dunno just didn't really do much for me honestly
Violent Femmes
4/5
3.6 - this was not I expected. I’d only heard blister in the sun and good feeling which are great. But the rest of the album was a lot more raw and heavier than I was expecting. Didn’t hate it though
Lou Reed
4/5
4.1 - I love Lou Reed a lot and think this album was great, but I wouldn't say it was my favourite.
Frank Zappa
3/5
3.4 - Struggled, too much going on for me. I'm starting to think I should avoid this list when I'm in a bit of a funk, it has too much of an effect on my rating.
Sick guitarist though and I always loved Muffin Man
David Bowie
4/5
3.8 - I really enjoyed some of the songs on this, but wasn't blown away by the album as a whole
The B-52's
2/5
2.3 - Wasn't into this honestly, maybe need to relisten
Paul Simon
5/5
4.9 - Stunning album, just think Paul Simon is just such a unique artist and great song writer.
Love
3/5
3.4 - enjoyed most of the album, but nothing ground breaking for me.
Pink Floyd
2/5
1.5 - Yeah, not really sure how to even attempt to enjoy this. Do I need to be really really high?
Very Cambridge
Sam Cooke
4/5
4 - this was really great but awful sound recording, not a fan of live albums when it’s that bad
Public Enemy
4/5
3.7 - enjoyed this, did beastie boys parody them or just sound the same? Album was a little too long imo
The Who
4/5
3.7 - Baba O'Riley is a true classic but the rest of the album felt a little flatter to me. Behind blue eyes is great also. Not sure, feel like I was gonna like it a lot more than I did
The Byrds
3/5
2.8 - Yeah...3rd album now from the byrds and I just don't vibe with it
Arcade Fire
4/5
4 - Solid good album, on the verge of me wondering why it's on the list but maybe it's because the more modern albums are too close? Dunno if that makes sense but i'm going with it
Solange
4/5
4.1 - This really won me round. Struggled to get into it to begin with but found there was a lot of depth to it. I think multiple listens would make it higher
Bobby Womack
4/5
4.3 - really enjoyed this, nice and groovy and great voice
Kings of Leon
4/5
4.4 - Love this album and have always thought it was great. Not sure why they tailed off
Frank Ocean
3/5
3 - Some parts were cool, but struggled with it. Found parts a bit cheesy and grating
New York Dolls
3/5
3 - yeah it was fine
The Who
3/5
2.5 - I thought the drums and guitar over shadowed the voice in this album. It was just way to long and felt that it didn't have much emotion for me.
The Avalanches
3/5
2.9 - There was some great parts to this album, but it just feels like it's stuck on repeat mostly and drives me insane. I wonder if that's to do with how much I focus on music in general, but struggled with this. However I really loved Frontier Psychiatrist.
The Sugarcubes
3/5
3 - I loved a lot of this and the female vocals are lovely. The guy vocals were off for me and weird lyrics
Primal Scream
4/5
4 - This is really a great album, I think most of my issue's is that some songs are just a little long. But where the hell does damaged come from!? It's such a stunning song and so different to the whole album. But yeah not sure, thought I was going to like it more and still love damaged
Meat Puppets
4/5
4.2 - This was a ride. Some hard listening in parts, but musically so interesting to me. I would definitely come back to them in the future
Portishead
5/5
4.5 - I work in Portishead, but they are from Clevedon
2Pac
4/5
4.3 - Yeah this was great, liked this a lot. Only thing I felt was the energy went a bit in the 2nd half, but that's just only first listen
Judas Priest
4/5
3.8 - I really enjoyed this, nice foray into heavy metal. Didn't find it too bad, maybe it's gonna be a lovely journey
Green Day
4/5
3.7 - Couldn't help sing a long. Not listened to it in like 10 years but some song still bang.
Fugazi
4/5
4.3 - This was really cool. The right amount of heavy aggression. Fave track was blueprint and definitely going to check out more.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
4/5
4.4 - This album grew on me massively and by the end I really felt like I wanted to go on a deep dive. I always struggled with Costello, but this is what I love about sitting with a whole album
John Lee Hooker
4/5
4 - Some solid blues music. Don't think I could go higher honestly, but I really enjoyed it.
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
5 - It just is
Leonard Cohen
5/5
4.6 - This album requires me to be more articulate than just 'Yeah, that was good...' so here you go.
This album exudes a fabulous malaise of grandiose refinement, with a splash of Foie gras.
Michael Jackson
4/5
4.3 - Great album! Some bangars. Do feel like it was a bit too much MJ all in one go
Otis Redding
5/5
4.9 - I feel this could be a 5, but not sure how I feel about an album with covers. Performance is a 5 though and as he died too early, maybe it is a 5
David Bowie
3/5
2.5 - I really felt like Bowie's voice felt old in this. I think there were glimpses of Bowie being great musically, but for me it was quite mediocre and don't think it should be on the list just because it is bowie.
Dizzee Rascal
3/5
3.2 - There are portions that I think are really great, and I think it would be higher rated for me if they cut some of the filler
Gang Of Four
3/5
2.8 - maybe I need to be in the mood
Linkin Park
5/5
4.5 - This slaps. So much better than I thought it was going to be
Nico
5/5
4.5 - Loved this album, the music accompanied Nico's voice perfectly and I found it really unique. Only ever heard These Days and was happy that most of the album was more of that. Will definitely go into my rotation
Fleetwood Mac
5/5
5 - I don't think I can fault this album, even though it's been so overplayed. I still remember the first time I heard the chain.
Steely Dan
3/5
3 - It was fine. Musically I think there is a lot there, but just no emotion for me
The Pharcyde
5/5
4.5 - I like
Steve Earle
3/5
3.2 - It was good, but I'm not sure there is much substance behind it.
Fats Domino
5/5
4.6 - I could listen to this all day
Louis Prima
4/5
4.3 - Loved this! Do think it got a bit too samey towards the end
Hanoi Rocks
4/5
3.8 - I liked this, need to maybe check it out again sometime
The Divine Comedy
4/5
4 - Liked this, not as much as the other album though. Very fun and lots of musical depth.
Norah Jones
3/5
3 - It's good, but very vanilla. But vanilla is nice.
Le Tigre
3/5
3.2 - I loved the first track and then it was just quite a lot of the whole album. Would listen again though
John Grant
5/5
4.8 - I always liked a few John Grant songs, but listening to the whole album, what a journey! I thought it was stunning and have been thinking about it loads since I listened to it last week. Will be listening to more, love his voice as well.
Mariah Carey
2/5
2.1 - This is too poppy for me honestly. The vocal warbling get's a bit too overdone personally
Pink Floyd
5/5
4.7 - This is such an incredible album and I was surprised how well I knew it. I've not listened to them for over 10 years, but it hit me just like it did before.
John Lennon
3/5
3.3 - I feel like yoko had a bit too much influence on John here and I'm not too into it. I feel like it's a bit too obvious and trying to hard. Lennon is fantastic, but this just doesn't feel like right.
Blur
3/5
3 - There was a lot in the this album, but honestly something felt missing. I feel maybe it's that there isn't much emotion in it for me. I just felt like I was waiting for it to finish.
Elvis Presley
5/5
4.7 - Honestly this was a blast. There is a lot of joy that comes from this album and it's just great feel good shit. Great voice too
Hole
5/5
4.6 - I had no idea that this was courtney love and i'm really glad I didn't before I listened to it. I loved it and thought it was such a solid great album. Great vocals and felt like it was a mix of so many great bands. 100% going to listen to going forward. Separating the art from the artist here I think cos doing heroin when you're pregnant is really fucked
The Velvet Underground
5/5
4.7 - Stunning album. Listened to this loads first year I moved to London and I still love it.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
5/5
4.6 - Another great neil young album, love the guitar and just great vibe
The Stone Roses
5/5
4.6 - Such a cool album, great variety and very familiar even though I've never sat down to listen to the whole thing
Wilco
5/5
4.5 - This was just pure songwriting for me at it's best. So much talent and it was such a ride a long the way. Simple but diverse with a lot of depth
Sarah Vaughan
3/5
3 - This album for me needs the right setting and right move, I don't think I'm putting it on anytime of day. So I think it would be higher but right now it's a solid 3. I felt like I heard the whole album after the first song.
Nina Simone
4/5
4.3 - Amazing album, amazing voice. Made me quite sad
Pavement
4/5
4 - I love pavement, they are deffo not for everyone. Also don't think this is their best stuff. I wonder if there will be other albums to come
Cream
3/5
2.7 - It was fine, some good moments
The Only Ones
4/5
3.6 - I think instrumentally they were really great, but I the vocals just grated tbh
Bob Marley & The Wailers
4/5
3.8 - It's good. I don't think I love it like others do, find it a bit too repetitive in parts, but its good easy listening
X-Ray Spex
2/5
1.7 - Was a quite annoying and I think I'de find it annoying in the 70's as well. Lot's of "oh look at me being so random!"
The Undertones
3/5
2.7 - Dunno, struggled with this. Was mostly bored, but maybe I was to distracted when I listened to this
Jimmy Smith
4/5
3.8 - This was nice, sometimes felt a bit background. But I think in the right setting this is a lovely album.
Everything But The Girl
4/5
4 - I was a bit worried when it first started that it was going to feel really dance beat vibes. But it actually kept me interested and worked well against the vocals. The vocals were really good and tracey thorns voice was super familiar. Think I know it most from massive attack. But yeah, cool interesting album
MC Solaar
4/5
4.3 - Loved this and was not expecting it at all. The only thing I would say is it needs cutting down
Cee Lo Green
3/5
2.5 - I just struggle with hip hop, I just don't click with it honestly. Maybe I'll find the album that does
Black Sabbath
5/5
4.5 - This was so good, a lot more than the dad rock label. Snowblind is such a good song
The 13th Floor Elevators
2/5
2 - It could be good? The sound recording is horrendous, just felt like a wall of noise.
4/5
3.8 - I used to think the beatles were overrated but have recently changed my mind. This album for me has 3-4 good songs and the rest for me is just a bit wet. Maybe I come back to it and enjoy it more once I've finished the beatles journey.
Kendrick Lamar
5/5
4.7 - Yeah this was really really good. Went into it thinking I wasn't going to like it, but it quickly changed my opinion. Feel like something clicked a lot more and felt it had so much depth instrumentally as well
Todd Rundgren
4/5
4 - I think there are so many good songs, but it is wayyyyyy to long. It just doesn't need to be.
Pink Floyd
4/5
4.4 - Comfortably Numb is such an incredible song, one of the best solos ever imo. I think for me this album tries a little hard sometimes to be on the nose, but maybe that's cos it's old. (not sure if this makes much sense)
Merle Haggard
2/5
2.3 - I thought I was going to like this but it was soooooo boring. Also the lyrics did not match up to the vibe of the music at all. So cheery whilst singing about dying in prison. Just quite generic
John Coltrane
4/5
4 - I'm not sure my brain was in the right place for this, want to revisit. Onto the next album
Madness
2/5
2 - This was so bad. Our house is good, but not great. The rest is just dross
Sebadoh
4/5
4.1 - What a clashing album, not sure why I enjoyed it so much. I think it felt so off, that when it was on, it sounded so great. It was as if it gave you something harsh to hear so that you appreciated the other songs more
Led Zeppelin
5/5
4.7 - actually loved this. The drums were so apparent and powerful and just never got bored listening
Beastie Boys
4/5
3.5 - they are just fun. Some of this album is a little bit much though
John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
3/5
2.7 - I found this album trying way too hard. It lacked the blues feeling. Can’t describe it but makes sense to me
Kings of Leon
4/5
4 - solid album, but you really start to get the more commercial vibes in this one
Talking Heads
5/5
4.9 - really cool album. He really is super unique and his own thing
Gene Clark
5/5
4.6 - lovely album this, want to listen to more of him
Fiona Apple
4/5
4 - I think I really liked this, was very interesting. Sometimes. I thought it was a bit off but some really nice parts.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
5/5
4.5 - Thought this was going to be a solid 4 album, but it was actually so good. I had only really listened to the big hitters, but this album had so much more
Johnny Cash
4/5
4 - I enjoyed this and he's quite a cool character and and the live album for me worked.
John Prine
4/5
4.4 - Love John Prine, really liked this album. I think it can feel a little samey, but there are some really perfect songs.
The Vines
3/5
2.5 - Yeah...think I'm missing something on this one. It sounded pretty generic
The Clash
3/5
2.8 - Iconic sound but too much for a whole album
The Cramps
3/5
3 - Not sure, kind of cool but also just meh
Pulp
4/5
3.7 - Enjoyed this, but their big hitters outweigh the whole album. Kind of a much better version of madness. No idea why but they are in the same category in my head
Air
5/5
4.6 - Stunning Album, so cool and smooth.
Roxy Music
4/5
4.4 - This was really a close to being a 5 for me, but I think it has a few moments where it loses me. Virginia Plain and Ladytron are such great songs.
Talk Talk
5/5
4.5 - Really like this and keen to listen to more. This could be an album I come back to
Kings of Leon
4/5
4 - Enjoyed, I think these early albums deserve to be here. However who else is missing out because they take up album numbers in the list
The Cure
5/5
4.5 - I love the cure and it's nice to listen to stuff that isn't just the big hits. I think the use of guitar is so unique and could happily listen to this for hours
Dr. Dre
3/5
3.4 - I think the 2nd half was more my jam
Koffi Olomide
3/5
3.2 - It was okay and some nice vocals, but sometimes felt like I was listening to Mario game. Parts also felt very repetitive and didn't progress. Overall, interested in seeing if more of this style will come up but wanted more from this honestly
2/5
2.2 - I actually used to listen to Muse when I was like 16/17 and thought they were the shit. Now I think they are shit.
For me they sound quite arrogant. It's like they are trying to show off and think it's the best shit ever. The vocals are so predictable and uninspiring and just couldn't wait for the album to end. Supermassive black hole is good, but even that song has this generic loop. I did think I was gonna enjoy this.
Dr. Octagon
3/5
3.2 - It was pleasant to listen to, quite liked it. Not sure what else
Belle & Sebastian
5/5
4.6 - This was a great album. I felt this was a lot more raw and lovely than some of their more popular stuff is
John Cale
5/5
4.5 - Great album, not sure if because the beatles were coming up next but I actually heard a lot of them in this album
Beatles
4/5
4.2 - So I like this, but I feel like they were so heavily produced at this point. Super safe and PG
Def Leppard
4/5
3.5 - I dunno how I feel. I liked it and it was good, but was it actually good or just a bit generic? Very American though
Living Colour
3/5
3 - I really like the first two songs and the first really felt a bit red hot chilli peppers/john frusciante. But felt a bit to jam session in the end for me
The White Stripes
5/5
4.5 - I really like how it's mostly just guitar and drums. A lot of raw emotion and example of how less is more.
Joni Mitchell
5/5
4.7 - Like a female version of Paul Simon in places. Fantastic album, looking forward to more from Joni
Miles Davis
3/5
3 - There were parts that were 5/5 and parts which were 1/5. It was sooooo long. I don't have the attention span for this.
Goldie
1/5
1.0 - My god....torture
For me there is so much to dislike with this album. The songs are just so boring and don't go anywhere. Scene music, riding on the coat tails of nostalgia. There are worse albums I've come across on this list so far, but this really just annoyed me
3/5
3.4 - I thought I was gonna love this album, but the first few songs just didnt land for me. But then it picked up the pace and started to feel it more. Really like shangri la
Can
4/5
3.5 - What a strange album. I feel like there is some gold here but it's in this strange sound scape. I think it requires a single listen and to really be in it
Ryan Adams
5/5
4.5 - Ryan Adams is really good, such a great song writer. He makes it feel so effortless and natural and this album really is great. I just struggle to separate the art from the artist with this one. Objectively it's so fucking good, and so gonna try to listen to him again
Bob Marley & The Wailers
3/5
3.4 - Yeah it was nice enough. Just find it a little boring and repetitive.
Throbbing Gristle
1/5
1.4 - I don't know what to say...
Brian Eno
3/5
3.2 - I think overall I'm not going to go back and listen to any of this, but as a collaboration it's pretty interesting. You really can hear each of them in the tracks. I feel like David Byrne was a lot more serious and eery which was a bit strange.
Boards of Canada
4/5
3.7 - I liked it. However I feel like there was a component missing. Maybe it was a lead guitar or vocals, but just felt like I was waiting for something to come in
Fela Kuti
4/5
3.8 - Yeah I enjoyed a lot of this but I think I wanted more and less of the same. Tracks were too long and could have been more concise.
Jamiroquai
4/5
4 - I enjoyed this, some songs I think didn't need to be there. For a one off album I think it's good, but not sure how much diversity there is overall. It's such a distinct sound, and he has an insane voice. Just think this is it's ceiling?
The Jesus And Mary Chain
2/5
2.4 - After the first song it's just a lesser version of the first song
Keith Jarrett
5/5
5/5 - Again a reminder of why I'm doing this list. What a gem. I would never have listened to this otherwise and been put off by the long tracks. It just clicked for me in my head, like a lovely jigsaw piece. Just effortless flowing through the music and I was fully engaged throughout the whole thing.
The Stooges
4/5
4.1 - I get this, also halfway through realised it was iggy pop. Just cool, but gets a bit intense in parts
Bruce Springsteen
5/5
4.5 - Really really good. Deffo his most commercial album. He's just really raw and has so much emotion in his singing
The Sabres Of Paradise
3/5
3.4 - Not sure what to make of this, it was quite interesting and enjoyed parts. Some parts were a bit much
Kraftwerk
2/5
2.4 - I know they are super influential, but honestly they really do not age well in my opinion. The song structure is soooooo repetitive and doesn't build into anything. Just not for me
Tim Buckley
4/5
4 - Really enjoyed and quite a performance. Something's stopping this from being higher and I'm not sure what.
Tracy Chapman
5/5
5 - Yeah this was stunning. Really powerful and beautiful at the same time
Earth, Wind & Fire
4/5
4.1 - Yeah, some smooth groovy music
Lucinda Williams
4/5
4.1 - I thought I was going to like this more but it’s still really great. It’s a very wholesome album and has some really lovely descriptive lyrics. I think sometimes I wanted a bit more and felt it was a bit repetitive in parts
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
5/5
5 - Thinking of the fact that Nick Cave came out of the depravity of Birthday Party really adds a lot of context to how I've come to listen to him. This album just had so much in it and I was sad when it was over. I think this is gonna cause a deep dive into all his music, just an amazing timeless album.
Ice T
3/5
3.4 - It was good, but I'm feeling like a lot of these 90's album sound the same but just different rappers on them
The Rolling Stones
4/5
4.4 - Yeah I can't fault this, just really great listening and great style. Few tracks were already in my rotation. Just solid stones innit
T. Rex
5/5
4.5 - I really liked this. It's such a unique style and I found even though it was similar, each song was it's own thing. Really looking forward to more albums from him
Destiny's Child
2/5
2.3 - I was into it at the start, but after the big hitters it really nose dived for me.
R.E.M.
4/5
4.4 - I just love REM at the moment, but this wasnt the best album for me. But any REM album is 4 and above right now.
The Who
3/5
3.4 - I liked it, but nothing really grabbed me outside of My Generation. Do I think The Who are over rated? Maybe but I think I need to give them more time also.
Lupe Fiasco
2/5
2.3 - Yeah this wasn't for me. Nothing really grabbed me and not sure why it made the list honestly
Fishbone
2/5
2 - Did not vibe with this. Felt like it was strangely clean but not in a good way
The Beach Boys
4/5
4 - A bit too long, but apart from that I actually really liked this album. I thought the songs in between the big ones were gonna be filler but so really cool tracks
Jeru The Damaja
4/5
4.2 - Enjoyed this a lot, felt like it was pretty authentic
Frank Sinatra
4/5
3.8 - I did like this and felt like I was in the right space for it. But I found that after the first 4 songs, they just blended into background music for me. He's got a great voice, but it's more style over substance
Ray Charles
2/5
2 - Was fully expecting to really like this, but honestly it just felt like a different version of the same song for over an hour
Common
3/5
3 - It was okay, but a little bit generic for me
Fairport Convention
5/5
4.9 - I love Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson, and this really was just a great album.
King Crimson
4/5
4.2 - Very pink floyd and actually really liked it. Some really cool moments and felt like it worked
The Smiths
4/5
4.4 - Quite liked that I just hadn't listened to this album that much, think I've listened to the queen is dead too much. Some really great tunes
The Kinks
5/5
4.5 - Now this was what I was hoping for from The Kinks. So fun and playful, but also just great solid songs. Reminded me of times with alex bolan and then also the beatles sometimes
Johnny Cash
4/5
3.8 - I like it, but feels very similar. Maybe this is what people that aren't into bob dylan feel. It was good, but just not into it as much as other people are I guess
Alanis Morissette
4/5
4 - Nothing ground breaking, but man this was a lot of cheesy greatness. Some great vocals and just a very honest album for me.
Weather Report
3/5
3 - Yeah it was okay, but felt like it lacked a bit of substance. Bit like a movie soundtrack almost
Gang Starr
4/5
4- Another 90's hip hop album that almost sounded like all the others. This had me more than others though and wasn't just waiting for the album to finish
Billy Joel
4/5
3.8 - I thought I was meant to dislike this more than I did. It was really not that bad. Some people get pretty aggy around billy joel but this is the first time I've heard more than a couple of his songs and it really good solid song writing. I do think there is a similarity with Elton John, but just not as good
Stan Getz
3/5
3.1 - First track was great, but I was done after that track to be honest. Feel like it was nice background loungey music that just starts to sound the same
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
2/5
2 - Honestly don't get it. Kinda feels like really wanky music. The fact people started clapping when they were trying to make my ears bleed, really made me think I was missing something
Lorde
3/5
3.4 - Very similar lyrics to taylor swift imo. Also weird obsession with teeth
Derek & The Dominos
5/5
4.8 - Never heard of the band, but it sounded pretty familiar and thought it was really good. Then looked and saw it was claption and duane allman really surprised with me as I just never knew they had a band together. Just such a perfect collaboration and brings the best out of both of them. Only thing is it's a bit too long, but such a great album.
I also think allman makes clapton less wanky
Bill Evans Trio
4/5
4 - I really like this when I was cooking, was super chill but didnt get to listen all the way through. So picked it up driving to work and really struggled.
The National
5/5
5 - Listened to this a lot. I just vibe with The National and always have. I think I heard an interview about the fact the dessner brothers create the music and then Matt Beringer comes in to do the lyrics and it always felt like a great collaboration. It just fits into everything I love about music for me. It's not even my favourite album of theirs either.
The Killers
5/5
4.6 - Album holds up from when it first came out and it is actually great. Over played...yes, but not the fault of the artist.
OutKast
3/5
2.5 - I liked two songs
Ray Price
4/5
3.7 - I enjoyed this more than I thought. Did give off a weird vibe at the start though, like some church sermon about to ask for money or something
Super Furry Animals
4/5
3.8 - Never heard them before, but I think I've heard of them.
Was actually really cool in parts and some great experimental parts with brit pop vibe? But not sure how much I'll sit and listen to them
Jack White
5/5
4.5 - Think I'm becoming a fan of Jack White. I was put off when I was young, he just looked really greasy.
This album was fucking great though
Jefferson Airplane
4/5
3.9 - I thought this was going to be another album with the big hit in it. There were a few nothing tracks, but some real gems outside of the big songs. This will be given a thumbs up.
Femi Kuti
4/5
3.8 - It was good, sometimes was a bit to repetitive though
The White Stripes
4/5
3.8 - Still liked it, but wish Jack White had been spaced out a little bit.
Frank Sinatra
4/5
3.8 - It was nice, but sometimes feel like it reminds me of stuff I hear in Thunderbirds.
Sister Sledge
4/5
4.1 - When its good its great, but there is some good old sandwich filler there
Coldplay
4/5
4.2 - I was never a cool kid, so was never told not to not like them.
But I actually think this album is quite far from what the became and it is great
Iron Maiden
4/5
4.4 - Think I was really just in the mood for this. The guitar, the drums, the great vocals. Not as heavy as I thought at all. Will deffo be listening to more
Run-D.M.C.
3/5
3 - I feel like it's super influential, but after a while dragged a little bit. Enjoyed, but not as much as I was hoping to
My Bloody Valentine
4/5
4.3 - Did not expect this at all, I thought it was going to be super emo and whiny. Not at all! Loved the soundscape and can see how its influenced a lot of the genre. Crap name though
The Afghan Whigs
4/5
4.3 - I'm not sure how sold I am on the voice, but I think it was really authentic. Musically I loved the tone of this, right up my street. I think will revisit.
Rush
3/5
3.4 - Great for one song, but feel like it just becomes them doing the same thing slightly differently. Technically great, but just got a bit bored
CHIC
5/5
4.7 - Yeah this was just great. No fluff and just really a tight album. Big tunes as well.
Prefab Sprout
2/5
2.4 - I was really hoping to like this after the first song, but my god it sounded really arrogant. Hard to describe, but the it's as though he thought the lyrics were more profound than they actually were.
Elvis Presley
4/5
4 - I enjoyed this, some really good songs. The band were really solid and let him do his thing. I do think he has quite an aura when he sings, but he's almost stepping on Johnny Cash's toes here, and Cash just does it better.
Kate Bush
4/5
4.3 - I didn't always enjoy the song, but I loved the madness of this album. Really looking forward to more.
The Modern Lovers
4/5
4.2 - I love Jonathan Richman, but I think he's best being his weird self. I hope we get some of his solo stuff, I feel like he was a bit tied down. Still great though
The Notorious B.I.G.
4/5
4.3 - Some really great songs and can hear of influential this is
Jethro Tull
5/5
4.9 - My god I loved this. What a great album I had no idea about. Echoes of Zeppelin and fairport convention, with a stupendous flute solo running throughout. It might be a little dad rocky, but it did not bother me one bit
So good
Nitin Sawhney
3/5
3 - This is just a bog standard 3, because I really just don't know how to feel about the album. It kind of annoyed me in parts, where it started really great and then just elements would come in and not really fit. Dunno, just felt off but hard to put my finger on it.
Jacques Brel
4/5
3.8 - I did like the start of this, but then I felt like I really needed to understand the lyrics. Liked the voice though
Stan Getz
4/5
4.1 - Nice, not too jazzy but jazzy just enough
Hawkwind
3/5
3 - Not sure, a bit too much weird shit with some great soundscapes and then it goes a bit bat shit
R.E.M.
5/5
4.5 - Loved this album. I feel like REM hadn't truly found their voice and it really feels like they were a little self conscious in a quite charming way. Reserved but a hint of what they become.
Portishead
4/5
4 - I want to re-listen at some point, I found it really intriguing and not always pleasant, but somehow left me wanting more.
Ramones
3/5
3.2 - So I thought there was gonna be a bit more variety, but it all sounded very samey. Love the voice and the tone, but by the end I was just ready to move on.
Al Green
5/5
4.7 - This was soooo much better than I expected. Thought it was gonna be really generic after the bangers, but it really wasn't.
Dexys Midnight Runners
5/5
4.5 - Wow, I thought I was gonna just wait for come on eileen and just fell in love with the whole album. I once heard them on Jools Holland and thought they were pretty off, but this is not how I remember them

The Mamas & The Papas
4/5
3.8 - Easy listening goodness, but not much more than that honestly.
Mudhoney
3/5
2.5 - Struggled with this. It just creeps up into the 3's but barely

4/5

Pere Ubu
2/5
2 - Not really sure on this honestly. Didn't really resonate at all
Slipknot
3/5
3.4 - So so so angry. Parts I was really enjoying but I honestly I feel like they are just a bit to emo for me. The double base pedal stuff is far too much, no matter how hard it is to do.
But I didn't dislike it and think it definitely has it's place.
Roni Size

Elton John
4/5
4 - I love Elton John and some songs really shine, others I find just aren't that deep when they are meant to be. I liked
Jeff Beck
4/5
3.5 - Some nice guitar
Rush
5/5
4.7 - Woah this album is so much more than the previous one we had. Felt like it was trying to be less wanky and more just raw song writing
The Smiths
5/5

Roxy Music
4/5
3.9 - I enjoyed as much as the other albums, but thats 3 now

4.7 - This was very much me, could listen to this a lot. Just very genuine
Beastie Boys
2/5

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
5/5
4.7 - This was just lovely and some absolute bangers. I almost cut my hair has always been a fave.

The Undertones
4/5
4 - This surprised me, quite liked it

1/5
1.3 - Really struggled with this. Having a sense of relief when it finished really sums it up
Spacemen 3
2/5
2.3 - I just felt like this really lacked any substance to it. Some parts were nice, but it really felt like a nothing album to me
Rufus Wainwright
4/5
4 - A bit dramatic and over the top in parts, but I actually really enjoyed this. I got a bit of thom york vibe and thought it was some good songwriting

Fela Kuti
3/5
3.4 - Yeah it was good, not much else to say tbh
Paul Simon

The Stranglers
3/5
3 - I knew that one song
N.E.R.D
2/5
2 - This felt like it was trying to write hits through the whole album. Super processed and not much soul personally
The Clash
5/5
4.5 - Man this was a huge surprise. I thought it was gonna be a bit meh after the well known stuff, but it had so much musical depth. Some great song writing, the only thing I would say it I wanted a bit more aggression sometimes

Ministry
2/5
2 - I kinda wanted to like this, but man just like...nah
Rod Stewart
3/5
3 - Good but not great, Okay but not bad. I've already forgotten most of the album tbh
The The
5/5
4.5 - This is the day is such a classic and I loved the whole tone of the album. I think this is the day and uncertain smile overshadowed the rest sadly to make it a real perfect album
The Blue Nile
5/5
4.5 - love love love the tone of this, nothing too stand out but just could listen all day
Stephen Stills
5/5
4.6 - Bit of me, not gonna lie

KISS
2/5
2.4 - I actually forgot i listened to this
B.B. King
5/5
4.6 - I've not listened to BB King in a long time and he was a massive gateway into blues. I was a bit worried coming back to it, but my goodness he really is so good. His voice is amazing and he makes the guitar it's entire own voice
Wu-Tang Clan
4/5
3.5 - Yeah it was good, but quite long. Nice beats but nothing ground breaking
Sepultura
4/5
3.8 - Wow I actually didnt hate it. Sometimes I felt the drums took over way too much and was sometimes a bit obnoxious, but I guess that's their intention. A lot of the instrumental stuff was really cool though
The Shamen
4/5
4.1 - I was dreading this after reading a bit about it, but this really surprised me. Some really good songs and found I wanted to relisten
Van Halen
5/5
4.7 - I dont think I could name a single van halen song before listening to this album but straight away new the first track. From then on it was just a joy to listen and cant wait for more of his albums
Joni Mitchell
4/5
3.8 - I grew into this, but felt like it was just a filler Joni Mitchell album for me. Nothing standing out but still good
Thin Lizzy
4/5
4.4 - Okay okay, I know Ive said a lot of stuff about live albums and especially live rock albums, but this won me over. They are so so good. Wish we had a studio album before this, but thin lizzy really are greats. Great drums, great solos, great vocals. It's not a 5 because of it being live and too long
Tangerine Dream
4/5
3.5 - I feel like this was probably really cool back in day and its still nice but maybe a little dated. Still nice though
King Crimson
4/5

3/5
3.4 - Yeah it was pretty chill, but nothing mind blowing
Carpenters
4/5
3.7 - Very very sickly sweet sometimes, but also enjoyable
Django Django
3/5
3 - I feel like this album is good, but I just don't know if it deserves to be in the list. I think most new music needs to stand the test of time. Will we be talking about them in 20-30years
Bruce Springsteen
5/5
4.5 - This is a great album and some parts you get such a raw emotion. I think having the e street band really amplifies bruce but not sure if it's always good. Small criticism but still a fantastic album
Traffic
3/5
3.3 - Good, average, forgotten it already
Fatboy Slim
3/5
3 - I really like fatboy slim, but I just think some of it was super repetitive
The Style Council
3/5
2.6 - Okay I think technically great and some great music. But I feel like this could be a band famous for playing on cruise ships or something. A bit of everything and just not that memorable
The Rolling Stones
4/5
4.3 - 3 stunning songs in gimme shelter, monkey man and you cant always get what you want. However the rest of the album was really filler
The Fall
4/5

Kendrick Lamar
5/5
4.5 - He really has so much more depth to his music than other hip hop I've listened to.
The Bees
4/5
4.4 - This was actually such a nice surpise. Really vibed with it, the only reason its not a 5 is that it just tapered out at the end
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
5/5
4.6 - Great album. In a similar vain to Tom Waits, there is just so much gravitas to his voice and music
M.I.A.
4/5
3.8 - I really enjoyed the first half of this, however it started to feel really similar and felt like it was track after track, instead of a really choreographed album
The Soft Boys
3/5
2.5 - I started hopeful, but I dunno just really fell flat for me
Erykah Badu
4/5
3.7 - Really nice album, very very smooth
Drive Like Jehu
4/5
4.2 - Woah this was such a nice surprise, never heard of them. Really gave me sort of fugazi and pavement vibes. Hard listen at times, but didn't bother me too much
Doves
4/5
4.3 - Would this be described as post brit pop? Anyway, really enjoyed the sound of this and my 18 year old sad self would have loved this
Kate Bush
4/5
4.2 - This womans work is an amazing track and one of my faves. Overall album was really great as usual from kate bush, but felt like it was weaker in parts
PJ Harvey
5/5
4.5 - No wonder PJ Harvey and Nick Cave were together briefly, they really fill the same space for me. Loved the album
Oasis
4/5
4 - I was expecting more. I can't hate them tbh but listening to it, I do feel like they are very one dimensional. Some bangers though
The Human League
2/5
2 - One cool song and the rest is a fucking bore fest...sorry
PJ Harvey
4/5
4 - I liked it, like I have liked previous pj harvey, but maybe I'm listening to too much too quickly, or I was just not quite in the mood
Soundgarden
3/5
3 - It was okay, but it really did feel a bit generic after a while
Metallica
3/5
3.2 - Some very good music and enjoyed it, but there is something a bit arrogant about this album, not sure why though
Talking Heads
3/5
3 - Ah I really wanted to like this, but it started to annoy me a little bit. Still good, but expected more. Psycho Killer is great
Napalm Death
1/5
1 - Nah
Kelela
2/5
2.4 - Just didn't do anything for me to be honest. Not much substance
Klaxons
3/5
3.4 - Fun, but that's all
Eminem
3/5
3 - An improvement for me, but why is there always dick sucking in these albums. Also some very intrusive thoughts that probably shouldn't be voiced
Anita Baker
3/5
3 - Great voice, watch your step was really good. Other than that though, just felt a bit empty song writing wise. Voice does all the heavy lifting
David Holmes
4/5
3.5 - Enjoyed, bit too long. I like trip hop
Blur
4/5
3.8 - I liked this more than the others I think. His voice is still a struggle though

George Jones
2/5
1.5 - I literally had to check that I hadn't accidentally clicked the repeat button after the first song
Os Mutantes
4/5
3.5 - Some songs are so so good and then others are just hard to listen to. Feels very similar to velvet underground. Good though, enjoyed
Harry Nilsson
5/5
4.5 - I really liked this, such a pleasant surprise. His voice is actually so pleasant to listen to
Ryan Adams
5/5
4.9 - He really is a world class song writer and honestly I think this is a timeless album. He's such a weirdo but can't deny the incredible musician
Big Star
4/5
4.4 - Really great listen. Nothing that made it a 5, but just a solid great album
Queen Latifah
4/5
3.5 - I liked it, but just got a bit samey tbh
The Libertines
3/5
3 - I was expecting to like this more, sadly it just felt a little bit try hard by really trying to look like they arent try harding
Baaba Maal
4/5
3.9 - I was torn by this album. He really has an incredible voice, but I'm not sure about the music that accompany it. It feels a little bit commercialised. I'd love something a lot more raw. Still good
Neu!
4/5
3.6 - Pleasant
Stevie Wonder
4/5
3.8 - Expected more to be honest. I think superstitious is just such a heavy hitter that I forgot about the rest of the album
4/5
3.6 - I liked it! Nothing mind blowing, but just chill and interesting
Julian Cope
4/5
4 - Some of the songs were sick, others were a bit too cheesy. Overall really like it though
The Byrds

Mj Cole
1/5
1 - The wetherspoons of music.
Rod Stewart
4/5
4.3 - He really has a great unique voice. I think it blends a bit too much and is slightly generic. Did find it very easy listening and enjoyed on my sunny run
Lauryn Hill
2/5
2.4 - Just felt a bit surface and preachy
Björk
4/5
4.2 - This was really cool, interested to hear more. I feel like the cadence of her voice is a bit jarring but might get easier with more listening
Elliott Smith
4/5
4.3 - I've always stayed away from elliott smith, but enjoyed the bits I've heard. I did enjoy this album, but it feels very contained in his style and so doesnt vary much. What he does well is great, but this album doesn't get to the depressing heights of say Damien Rice
Caetano Veloso
3/5
3 - I dunno, it was okay. The type of music someone would put on at a dinner party to show how musically diverse they are.
The Lemonheads
5/5
4.6 - What a great album, just uncomplicated great music. Will be coming back to this for sure
Calexico
4/5
4 - good, I think i prefer this to their later stuff
