Reviews (page 2 of 14)

I cannot believe there are two Air albums on this list, but it’s also weirdly good even if the music doesn’t stand out.

I know virtually nothing of Air other than "Sexy Boy", which in itself has become an iconic electronic track for it's almost throat sounding beats and breathy female vocals; I've always loved it. "La Femme D'argent" had a beautiful lounge vibe created in it's smooth and consistent bassline, accompanied by the electric organ sounds and synth sounds. "All I Need" took me by surprise with it's actual lyrics, delivered beautifully by Hirsch. Against Air's signature lounge electronic style, it felt like something truly special. Hirsch's performance on "You Make It Easy" was just as beautiful, but the arrangement didn't quite come together as well as All I Need. Between the bassline, the sinister synth sounds and the rise and falls of the violins, I found "Talisman" truly beautiful, too. "Remember" with it's distorted voice and instrumentation bore resemblance to Daft Punk for me; bias swaying my like for the track. "New Star in the Sky" and "Le Voyage de Penelope" were also gorgeous in their own right. Overall, this album surprised me by offering more than just the electronic sound I thought they were initially comprised of. The whole album was beautiful.

I have the cd!! Feels like your an alien an another planet where everything is like blue and lila Favorite: sexy boy

Diosssss que joya, es un gran álbum toda la combinación de géneros musicales es wow, la mejor canción en mi opinión es “Talismán “, pero sin duda las demás le sacan lucha

loved it more albums like this plsss

Have loved this album since it can't out, it's superb, chilled and just wonderfully put together. By far the best album by Air.

Loved this one. Bounces between fatboy slimesque electronic beats and soothing soul grooves

Fucking awesome. Chill, intricate sound that stays consistent but is explored through different instruments and styles. What can I say, I'm a sucker for music that's designed for peaceful dozing

One of my fave albums of all time - listened to air all day after !

Loved this vibe a lot, definitely going to come back to it. Was making cookies while listening and it really nailed it

When I was in my late teens, I decided to try and listen to something that I don't listen to usually. Well, that backfired since here I am 20 years later trying to repeat the same process via this 1001 albums exercise! At the time, undecided on what to listen, I looked over online or consulted with friends about what should I give a chance to. This album routinely popped up in a lot of suggestions so it was one of those I gave a try. I had huge expectations, naturally, as it is one of the most lauded albums of all time. Man, they were not wrong, and all these years later, it still sounds great.

muito bom

I liked it. It was quite funky.

Great album that harkens back to the space age. Reminds me of Royksopp.

Sublime!

Nice trance of rock and roll, fun surprise

Great record, I have it on vinyl

This is a 5 star album for me. And such nostalgia still. But I loved it when it first came out, the thick synth is so real. Love it.

I really vibed with this album. It explores a ton of different sounds, many of which I can hear in echoes of later more famous songs. Clearly an inspirational album for the electronic genre, it's also an excellent listen in its own right. Smooth relaxing beats, strong electronic sounds that would appear in later artist's works, and brilliant vocals all appear throughout. Truly an unexpected gem to me.

There's such an air of French mystery to this album - the music almost oozes with sensual, slurring panache, and would perfectly fit a modern noir film set in Paris. Air's command over their unique sound leaves the listener swirling in a post-acid haze, caught somewhere in the hookah smoke of the 60s and the fuzzy bitmaps of the 90s. I feel like I need to be stood on the balcony of a Miami penthouse apartment, while white-silk curtains unfurl out of the windows with the late summer night breeze, watching the twinkling lights of the city below me, superslim in hand.

Cosmic chill.

Ihan vitun hyvä mut oon kuunnellu jo kahesti ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

really feels like daft punk did an indie rock album (just a lot of vocoder for the vocals). This is really good / chill though. I always enjoyed a random song off this one but it is just a good mood album and a deep listening experience if you want to pay attention. Part 60's lounge jazz, part ELO instrumentation, generally very beautiful and a little psychedelic.

Very good background synth

Sound of the late 90's. Just floated in out of nowhere and perfectly captured the times. La femme d'argent is out of this world, such a great vibe. The two Beth Hirsch songs are real standouts, especially her work on All I Need. The bass playing is front and centre, this record is dripping in romance and love, I love the feel of this thing. Deadbeats, it is timeless, you can put this on anytime and anywhere and it works, no drugs required.

This is absolutely top.

Moon Safari doesn't belong to a specific time. Some albums are chapters — you listen to them intensely in a period and then whenever you return, you're back in that room, that year, that version of yourself. Moon Safari isn't like that. It's been there consistently, without rhythm, without a particular season. More like furniture than a photograph. A dear friend introduced me to this one, and I've been grateful ever since. Every song works. The whole thing is calm without being boring, warm without being sugary, electronic without being cold. Air found a temperature and stayed in it for 44 minutes. "You Make It Easy" is the one that hits hardest right now. There's a person this song makes me think of. Someone who actually does make things easy — who showed me that things can be joyful and light. The song doesn't explain that. It just feels it. 5/5 — and it's not even close.

Awesome. Such a warm, cozy, mildly psychedelic album. Instant stress relief. There are so many beautiful details in the compositions and I'd like to point out all of them, but I'm too lazy and will just mention the first thing and that is how I absolutely love the bass line in the first track. They manage to start off very strong and maintain the magic throughout the whole 43mins. "Talisman" is the best track here and can compete with All Them Witches' "Talisman" for "Best Track Called Talisman". 4,5/5 near perfect

Absolutely breathtaking. Feels like a breath of fresh... Air.

Excellent from first impressions love it love it love it

Album from my childhood

5. 5. 5. This album has been the soundtrack to so many hazy weekends. Can't quite do it the same 20 years later, but the feeling persists. I love most of what Air have done, but this album is on another level, created by angels.

Yesssss

10/10 Like daft punk before daft punk. Very electronically jazz. One of my favorites so far. After research this duo came out after technically. But they were part of the same movement of French electronic music.

Bonito. 5/5

love it! sexy boy is so me

Groovy French, 90s style. Honestly, the A-side of this album is the template for so much of the cool French stuff that came out in the late 90s and early 2000s. I dare anyone not to start nodding their head when the bassline of 'La Femme D'argent' kicks in. Sexy Boy, Kelly Watch The Stars, All I Need - what a bunch of deadset winners. The B-side of the album is not quite as stellar, but still pretty damn good. Highly recommended

I’ll revisit this album as I enjoyed the instrumental sounds! Wasn’t able to look into much info about the band or album while listening this time.

Daft Punks twin brother, Tame Impalas Father, and it all belongs in a movie

Fantastic, mesmerising, an absolute vibe, ahead of its time, perfection from beginning to end.

Never heard of Air, but holy what an album. It's great. Great electronic tracks, with really good melodies and rhythms. The opening track was really cool, the Beth Hirsch songs were great, and the album works real well as a set piece or as individual songs. Had no expectations heading into it, but caught me way off guard.

This album is suchhh a joy to listen to. It literally feels like walking across clouds. La femme d’argent is like if someone took elevator music and tweaked it until it was a 10/10 song. Little sound effects and small details are sprinkled throughout the songs and make them very interesting 🙂‍↕️ it’s like the equivalent of eating food with a cool texture. This album is also the perfect mix of easy to listen to and interesting. And super catchy! I love it sm. Fav songs: sexy boy, Kelly watch the stars, remember, ce matin-lá

Vengo del rock pesado, y esto me hizo bajar mil cambios. Sin dudas un álbum que escucharia repetidas veces en momentos de tranquilidad. Melodías armoniosas, frescas, nuevas.

I only know Sexy Boy. Iconic. This album casually preceded the virgin suicides score. I can’t believe sexy boy is ONLY ft in 10 things is that possible? Truly so good. Ce matin-la. How is this song so lovely? Is this a needle drop somewhere? It feels like it’s engrained in me and yet. I’m loving this album. Do I 5 star it? Lemme listen to the song exploder episode. So French. They talk about writing music at the same piano 😭

Space fantasy, was neat

Якраз нещодавно слухав. Ідеальний альбом, неймовірно стильний гурт, хз що додати. 4.5, але тут можна і 5 поставити.

This is great end to end, every track is essential, each so melodic and innovative enough to be interesting. I need to listen to this way more often. Great production and sound quality as well.

Love this shit

Trip pop airy waves from the 90s

Of course!

My first album in this generator and I was blown away!

A diamond amongst the rough. My ears are so happy to have heard this today. Decades too late from release but right songs at the right time.

Would listen to again 5/5

absolutely a masterpiece

Pure vibes!

Still one of my favorites!

EPIC! great album.

Have listened twice before. Loved it on first listen.

Sin palabras. Me encanta

A literal safari out of this world - One of my favourite albums of all time.

Is just such a solid album in its genere. Flows effortlessly

Funky, fresh, good vibes tunes

Pareltje, ligt nog geregeld op

In a way very similar to Play by Moby (the previous album), in that each song just coasts along on its vibe, but every song is so immaculately constructed that I don't care. Love Kelly Watch the Stars, Ce matin là, and La Femme d'argent

Lush sounding, an album that can be enjoyed at every mood, what a gem!

this is the most peaceful I've felt this week. god damn it french. do yall think if the bassline of new star in the sky is single

Air remain a favourite band of mine. This is just a perfect album. Has aged wonderfully as well. Easy 5

Wow, I hadn't heard of Air or this album, but REALLY enjoyed this one! I'll definitely add it to my regular rotation.

I taught yoga for a good while, and early on in that career, I got into listening to yoga music--ragas and kirtan. That was in the late 90s, when this album debuted. Prior to that I'd been gaga for the trends of my young adulthood, and had felt propelled by the changes in the world of "alternative music." Thanks to A, I got to see Stereolab at their college; I think of Air as part of that world. When my teaching and asana practice leveled out and matured, I found my way back to the trends and bands of the era--Beck, especially, but also Air. Art rock. Now I think of this long history and realize all the other moments when I left contemporary rock and electronica slide out of my viewscreen for a couple years.

PHENOMENAL EXPERIENCE

Classic one

How many hundreds of times have I heard this and it's still up there !!!

Formative listening for teenagers in the 90s. Instrumental in my love for French house, trip hop. Ce Martin la remains one of my favourite songs.

Incrediblé

I always grown when I see my AOTD is Electronica but this was really great. It’s a real good one to work to!

fuck yeah

Peak. Summertime perfection.

I like Air

Good chill vibes. Reminds me of Andrew… who, as it turns out, knows and loves this album.

Esta chido

90’s classic

It’s effortlessly cool and floaty. It’s not an album that grabs you by the throat but rather dissolves into the air around you. Claire, it’s French!

Back to back peak?? Goated album. Finde de ersti song e chli naja de rest isch peak

Peak 🙏 You make it easy soooo en guete song.

Love this album, interesting, chilled out and well produced. Saw them perform the whole album live a year or two ago now and that was a great experience too.

THE WAY I GASPED. I have been in love with this album since day 1. This is my kind of music

all killer-no filler solid album, been a favourite of mine for years

This is my 100th album, and what a treat! While this isn't my favorite Air album, I could still put it forever as a backdrop to my life. Light, intelligent blend of pop, electronica and ambient that feels nostalgic without trying to. I love the unashamed heavy vocoder use, the french accent, the synth work, and even though I could've been talking about Daft Punk with this sentence, Air's electronica is rooted in atmospheric music, not the dancefloor, making its heavy use of electronic sounds accessible, even if you're not an electronica fan. Thanks generator for celebarting my 100th album with me!

Really good album good base and synth and just makes me feel like walking in the city during the night 🌙 ❤️

Daft Punk, Justice, Air.

Лучшая песня: Sexy Boy Худшая песня: Ce matin-là Отличный альбом

Моя музыка пошла. Как оказалось, All I need добавила в любимые на last.fm ещё в 2012 году. Прекрасное начало зимнего солнечного утра

Is This Peak? Yes Yes but in sexyyy boyyy

Good album. I liked almost every song.

This popped up on my YouTube recommended a bit before it showed up on here. And they were right, shits good

What a fun ride. Great layers to these songs and the intro tracks was perfection for my rain filled drive into the city

Beautiful. Like a pre-Daft Punk dance music that is more mellow.

I definitely think I've listened to Moon Safari while working in the past. I like it a lot. It's very nice to listen to, and has some great beats.

Sexy boy

very calm and beautiful

Staple

The song remember I felt like I’ve heard that song before or maybe it’s my mind playing tricks on me Soft synths kinda scare me because they remind me of me as a child im not sure how or why

Teenaged (me) angst and wonder

Super groovy and synth! I’ve never listened to anything like this before it was so slay!

First album, great one to start. Solid 4.5 score

Veckrat se morm spomnit poalusat air

Jazzy techno vibes - kind of music my dad would like. Think coral would like it too

Never heard of this band before. La Femme D'Argent is a nice chill tune. Like a forerunner to all the chill lo-fi beats that you hear these days. Also enjoyed Kelly Watch the Stars, Remember, Ce Matin-la, and Le Voyage de Penelope. Overall this is a fantastic album! Great new discovery for me :)

Stone cold classic Love it or loathe it, it was everywhere because it took the genre to a whole new level

Perfect Sunday morning album. Listened before

One of the first vinyls that i bought ❤️

What a light and comforting frame of mind this brings me every time. It's like going out for a walk on the beach at sunset in early Summer with docile waves washing up, fragrant sea mist wafting in, and then a warm, dry breeze blows in from inland. The instrumentation and phrasing are all so simple, and the tone so easygoing, it complements Beth Hirsh's phenomenal lilting singing. Of course this gets a 5 from me for sentimental value, because of course it has been one of my dearest favorites for decades.

This album has elements i lovr in 2010s electronic, wild that it's all here in the 90s

I started listening to electronic music in 2010 and they were right that it peaked in the 90s. I was wrong.

Frenchier than a mime w a baguette on a bicycle

An all time classic

Iconic album. A sound all their own. Super consistent and just lets you get lost in the sauce so hard and so good. No notes.

Absolutely stunning wow. Def gonna be a buy on vinyl for me. Way to live up to your band name too.

Brilliant of course. One of my favourite albums from the late nineties

Lindas melodías, hay muy pocas letras pero son lo suficiente para sentirte satisfecha con el álbum.

This album is bringing me so much joy. How have I not known of them. Again a thanks to the 1001 albums project and list. Super chill groove core. Just nice, not boring at all. Balancing being super mellow with electric organ and smooth synths, with having a nice energetic driving under beat to carry it forward and keep you alert. This is a road-trip album. I envision best mid day on open long roads through mountain hills or woods. Western PA, rural Ohio, that kind of thing...

I think this album just became one of my favourites It sounds like stray ost mixed with frutiger aero. But asides vibes, all i hear is some kind of burning passion for music. All the songs have managed to capture such a wide range of emotions its such a masterpiece. It was so worth listening to this This album somehow describes my whole life and its crazy. Saw approved.🪚

This is a personal favourite! Perfect for listening to something in the background, while working or just relaxing. Sexy Boy is from another dimension. It was the song that made me get into them in the first place. Favourite songs: Sexy Boy, Kelly Watch The Stars, All I Need, La Femme D’argent and Talisman.

I love this holy shit. Reminds me of supreme beings of leisure. Funky futuristic instrumentals. Daft punk and supreme beings of leisure meet

Album exceptionnel du début à la fin, les premiers titres que j'ai liké sur Spotify, je pense l'avoir découvert via mon frère. Un album de relaxation, d'évasion, en apesanteur. Et en plus...c'est français !

Besides The Wall, this might be the best album so far. It's got some good psychedelic tunes to it, and I'm all here for it. Stand-out tracks are the instrumental La femme d'argent, as well as the two following tracks Sexy Boy and All I Need. I'll be definitely coming back to this one more often than not. 9.5 / 10.

Yumyumyum warm, hazy, early 2000s coded electronic. Love the mildly psychedelic groove. Extra love to Sexy Boy, Heath Ledger RIP ❤️My stanouts: All

Lofi really goes hard even in the 90s

vibe and magic, very comfortable and relaxing

Incredible. Sexy boy and all I need are my standouts but every song has its own moment. Love the synth

This is 100% my sort of music. My longtime favorite band, Zero 7, fully ripped off Air for their first 3-4 albums.

Masterpiece

I was a little pessimistic on seeing this, but boy was I wrong… this was awesome. Every track was solid, great variety. For this on a perfect day I guess, because even though I didn’t LOVE it I loved it. 4.5/5

Dreamy but structured. A classic.

One of the greatest electronic albums of all time. That sentence is also correct without the word "electronic"

crazy good pull

Pretty good

What an unexpected breath of fresh air!

a fave for a reason <3

Very nice. I gave this one a 2nd listen. I dig these mellow trippy vibes.

Simply sublime from start to finish. French electro pop for the win!

Funky, cool, Mysterious, sexy, sounds like when sunshine is coming through heavy fog

In my forty-one years on this planet, most of the people I've encountered who identify as Air fans have been pretentious to an extent that's made me not want to listen to Air. So, does the fact that I loved this record mean I was wrong to make assumptions, or does it just mean that's I've gotten extremely pretentious?

Amazing

Mellow daft punk sound

Listened. Love it. Saw them live :)

(5) I love this album, not sure why I remember listening to this the first time in Israel. I even remember a discussion regarding this at the Al Arab hostel, but this is improbable, as it was released after that date of 1997. Memory is a tricky matter! Maybe the sound is my soundtrack surrounding me at my steps in between this world. “Air-Moon safari” is best heard in liminal spaces. I love down tempo or EDM, because I love when music is my soundtrack. It creates a mood that takes me into philosophical realms. Their sound takes you deeper. So put this on, pour some wine, and turn the lights on low, as this is love making music. Air influenced bands like “Tame Impala” and “mouses”. They also helped solidify downtempo, chill wave, dream pop, and the French Tpuch scene”.

This album is cooking in new and interesting ways

Its great id give it like a 4.5 but i wanna be generous and sayit rounds up to 5. Its a fun album

This album was a big ass surprise for me. Best electric album I’ve heard in a minute gang.

I loved this album when it came out, it's a classic now. Melow and smooth, like a nice glass of wine.

In 2006 I had a girlfriend who had a CD player/alarm clock (this was just before the iPhone was released in 2007) and you could set the alarm so that instead of an unsettling beeping sound it would play whatever CD you put in it as your alarm. Every time I stayed the night at her place I would regularly and reliably wake up to one of two albums. The first was Broken Social Scene’s 2002 seminal masterwork You Forgot It In People and the second, none other than Moon Safari by Air. As I closed my eyes and hit play 20 years on I was hatched instantly into a nest of exhilarated freedom by that Miles Davis/Smooth as eggs up there in my top 5 bass lines of all time bass lines . Then it dawned on me, I’d never listened past the first track as a result of having to hastily throw on my work clothes and fly out the door to try to be on time for whatever job I was working at the time. Stand Out : All I Need - summarizes the calming euphoria this whole album contains

Someone here described this album as a fresh breeze of something I don't remember and I couldn't agree more.

Awesome

Richtig guter elektro

Not my thing, but nice

24/11/2025 It's elevator music, but i enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Spotify listeners: 4.4 million

Already heard many many times. Amazing album

Such a cool album, super chill and it gives a lot of "Daft Punk"'s vibes. Best track: "Super Boy"

Very gentle and smooth. 5/5

Hell yes

na ezzzzzzzzzz

Very cool album cover. Didn't really know what to expect here, by La femme d'argent really started off on a strong note. This album kicked off great and never really let go. Calm and spacey. A really delightful listen. Would definitely come back to this one. Let's call this a low 5 cause I'm in a good mood today.

Love tf out of this album. Easy 5. So dreamy, psychedelic, and SEXY. La Femme d'argent is a top 100 song!! Sexy Boy is weirdly probably my most heard song while waiting for the main act at a show. For years I just assumed Beth Hirsch was actually Beth Gibbons from Portishead. Some great sultry emotional vocals. Talisman pumps me up so much. The atmosphere of this album is just incredible. Incredibly vibey album. AIR!!!

💞💿🦄💄

Love it!

A masterpiece of electronica. There is a lot of danceable tunes on this album (trust me, Sexy Boy is great to dance to) but it's still an album you can just listen to.

One of the greatest albums I've ever heard. So much depth in both writing style and production style. This is a pivotal album for the genre and has remained a staple ever since it was released.

loved this one. the atmosphere is absolutely fire, and the sound is killer. standout tracks: la femme d'argent, all i need, you make it easy, ce matin-la

Super good

Love this dreamy sexy french collage. Timeless music as good as background music gets

Classic lo-fi chill electronic music. They really set the tone for a lot of musicians in this genre. I love this record. One of my top 50 I would say.

y'a pas 1 ligne de basse qui n'est pas légendaire

Just one of the all time bangers. Atmospheric, energetic yet chill. The vibes! The sheer motherfucking vibes!

Ranges from bright and atmospheric to dark and mysterious, jazzy and funky to trippy and psychedelic, all while maintaining a cohesive, chill sound.

Honestly really enjoyed this! Way more than expected! It definitely was Muzak adjacent but felt really well crafted! Lovely background listening

This album encapsulates why I'm doing all this. Favs- All I Need, Sexy Boy

Had this album saved even before it popped up on 1001albums. 5/5

This is good stuff!

There is no other that has influenced so many

What an amazing album. So eclectic, but all groovy.

Lots of variance. A fun listen!

Astounding. The bass is groovy and the entire album just transports me to a calm, ethereal place. This is becoming core study music for me.

fabulous

Welp, I've finally accepted a belief of mine that I had already considered before but now believe to be fact. The French are way better at making electronic music than the British. Sure, the British have Aphex Twin and Massive Attack and whatnot, but in regards to albums, the French give me what I want more so than the British. From my experience, most British electronic albums feel more like "collections of beats" than anything. Even great albums like Selected Ambient Works 85-92 literally are collected and put together. Does it work in the favor of that album specifically? Yes, and I'm glad that that album doesn't pretend to be something that it's not. But you look at like Fatboy Slim or the Chemical Brothers or whatever and their albums are just collections of beats that go on for way too long. But the French? They make complete artistic statements. Moon Safari is a complete artistic statement. It's cohesive yet varied. It's pleasant yet introspective. It's amazing. The sounds and songs of Moon Safari are just wonderful, both on their own and as an album. The pacing actually feels rewarding, mostly because the album doesn't go on for 70-something minutes. There's, like, actual emotions and stuff here? It's great. Of course, this is just one album, but when other albums like Discovery and, to a lesser extent, Cross exist, you have a strong catalog that most other country's could only dream of creating. This review is weird. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this album is special. It has a song called "Sexy Boy" that isn't cringe in the slightest. That's an accomplishment, okay? But yeah, Moon Safari is kind of beautiful. The Virgin Suicides was good and all, but Air never surpassed this masterpiece right here. Light 5/5.

Auuuuu! Voljenje!! ❤️ U top tri lajv koncerta života 🥰 5/5, 9.5/10

oooooo AHHHHHHHHH sexyyyyyyyy boyyyyyyyyy 🙂‍↕️ felt transported into a dreamlike state. i wanna live in the world of sexy boy. what it feels like to like a sexy boy & also be desired by said sexy boy. dreamy, introspective. a great album.

A downtempo essential

Love this record so much. Just beautiful, dreamy, effortless. Can't possibly be in a bad mood listening to it.

Eines der besten überhaupt!!! 🩷

Calm tones for chilling out

Always been one of my favourites. So relaxing and other worldly. Still amazing after over 10 years

Smooth and great. What else is to say here. Classic.

Now THIS is what downtempo is all about. A little jazzy, a little folky, a little electronic, but ALL breezy, calm, and easy to enjoy no matter the setting. Perfect chillout music.

I don’t have a ton of commentary on this. Just some really good shit. Would listen again.

I think in the context of rating things on this list and re-engaging with the rating part of my brain, Moon Safari is up to a low 5 I’ve always held something back when considering this album but it’s quietly grown on me over the last decade and I love it more than ever It’s not my perfect downtempo album but it’s a fantastic record, I think I was comparing it too much in my mind to the darker more emotional downtempo I particularly enjoy

Very chill.

I love this album. Can listen it on repeat.

Amazing electronic album, atmospheric, catchy and cool

Fav: Remember Least Fav: Kelly Watch The Stars So chill, dare I say it is the chillest of the chill

Really enjoyed this album, two songs I had heard before and enjoyed. The full album is class

Wonderful and perfect

Love this record. An old house classic. Super chill! Rhodes, beautiful string arrangements, mysterious vocals.

The definition of Hi-tech modern life chill-out Fav Track: All I Need (ft Bert Hirsch)

Weird and wonderful!!!

Scho heavy en vibe!

My life source. Best to keep you breathing at all times

YES LOVED!!!

YESSS I was manifesting this album and I finally got it!! It’s one of my absolute favorites I love every single song, it’s also very relaxing and helps quiet my mind when I’m thinking too much \(*ˊᗜˋ*)/

Groovy!

So ambient I see why they're called air Kelly watch the stars <3333 Dominic once suggested I send their music to a guy I was trying to impress on Hinge

4.5 maybe but LOVEEDDDD… sometimes was wishing there were more words but overall super into it. I only know cherry blossom girl by them so was good to expand my horizons

Second half (fifth track onwards) is actually sublime.

"You make it easy to watch the world with love." Listened to B4? Yes Tracks Already Saved on Spotify: 4 - La femme d'argent, Sexy Boy, All I Need, You Make It Easy Standout Tracks: La femme d'argent, Sexy Boy, All I Need, You Make It Easy (91/100)

A beautiful album which i love to listen to every so often. There is not a bad track on it, from the build up of 'La Femme d' Argent', the mellow vibes just keep coming. Who would have thought the French could make such a great album?

a band so french they make sure to tell you so on the front cover! rly tuned on the perfect wavelength of earnestly forward looking, old enough for that forward looking to be kitschy, but so aesthetically powerful that it still feels like it could point to a potential future anyway. writing about architecture and morality for rym some months back i proposed that its blissfulness pointed to a Utopia rather than a Paradise because a Utopia still has room for all the pain and complications of Human Behavior and Interaction, and i feel much the same here. emotionally subtle but rly gripping i think,,,,lil shades of feeling and experiences all over. all wrapped up in some absoloutely killer low-key pop tunes, prob The record to study if ur trying to write something in that vein. another record i slightly bounced off back when i first heard it but man it rly hits the spot now! an unassuming masterpiece

Amazing debut. Not their best but changed everything.

Loves it

Incredible album, I was not expecting to love it as much as I ended up. The production and songwriting was amazing and it still holds up today. I loved the instrumentation, it felt very deliberate in the way all these different sounds came together to convey the music in a unique way. This album is pretty much perfect, no weak tracks. 5/5

Wonderful. Cool groovy, calm and controlled.

great vibes!

amazing bg music love em

One of my favorite almost instrumental technoish albums. An extremely soothing album that has a serene lullaby quality to it. This was in fact my sleep album as a child and I would put it on every night. I would only make it to track 4 before passing out. It really holds a special place in my heart. Fucking French people. 10/10

Focus and Restraint. Unlike so much electronica produced and programmed by people who seem titillated by the sonic extremes their computers can produce, these tracks are beautifully conceived and every element contributes to the track's concept. They are concise, focused, and restrained. Add a gift for melody, deft choice of instrumentation, and commitment to the details of production and you have a brilliant album start to finish.

- Thanks for this, 1001 records I need to hear .... -

An absolute triumph of French techno. One of those albums that transports me back in time to happy memories.

I’ve listened to air before! Cherry blossom girl was my song for a long while last year or so. Listening to this album in my mom’s very hot car because the ac is broken but getting ready to walk my dog midnight. Wanting to get Starbucks or ice cream or something that can cool me down but it’s a typical summer day. Edit: the day was better than anticipated, similar to this album. I like the band air and getting introduced to their debut music was cool. I’m thankful for websites like this random train of thought but this reminds me of how the internet used to be where you can find random websites when you search on google and the first stuff wouldn’t be sponsored. But to the tell you the truth I think I always remember the first two searches being sponsored and when I was in college we were told you should scroll to the next pages to find the real answers to your search. I wish I could share that nostalgia but I recall very similar to what we have now outside of the cookie request on every website. This album felt like something that could have came out this year that’s what air sounds like to me it doesn’t feel defined to a specific era or event, but whenever you as the listener choose to listen to their song, it’s gifted to you to be able to define it yourself. yes I like air and I like this recommendation.

Just great.

Beautiful etherial sounds with diverse expert instrumentation.

It's a 4, but I'm gonna give it a 5 out of excitement over the fact that finally something good was posted here.

Phenomenal - funky, chill, just really lovely

Honestly a vibe, slept on it, didn't listen for it but it was a seamless coast in the background.

Absolute masterpiece, timeless, catchy tunes. Marks a milestone.

Man this was a refreshing delight. Really cool and distinct sound and every track was fun. This feels like a 70's film score, but made in 1998. Album cover: (A) I love that it says "French Band"

Excellent

A great album. It's the 2nd from Air for me in this project, but the one that introduced me to the band. I can listen to it again and again. Great. 5/5

I put this on knowing I already love it, and I'm still surprised by how much I like it. One of those albums that influenced so much of the music I love now.

Thoroughly enjoyed the album. I had never listened to it prior. It really seemed quite modern and pertinent still perhaps they were truly pioneers in that sound.

Such a nostalgic album for me, I was definitely onto something as a kid. And even years later it still 100% holds up. The lush lofi production is truly like nothing else and the handful of features also enhance the whole experience so much. Despite this album being mostly electronic, there is still such an incredible pallet of instruments and sounds on show, and they really do make it look easy to pull off such an insane range of styles, but still keep the vibe of the album so consistent.

Despite its popularity this was all new to me. Added to my downloaded albums. Great album

Beautiful album. All I Need is one of the 'warmest' songs I've ever heard.

Brings me back to college

200? I've reached 200 albums generated? Neat. Hey, look, it's an album I'm familiar with! Last played on January 24, so it's been a few months, but it's not a novelty. For music that doesn't hype me up, this is damn good stuff. Yeah, it's more of an evening "wind down for bed" kind of listen. For what it is, it does an excellent job.

Bought this when it came out but haven’t listened to right the way through in a while. Absolute gem!

No private session used for Spotify. I love this album, used to be my go to on weekend mornings. I don't know why I love it as it's electronica with heavy keyboards, but this just works.

Great!

Love it. Groovy tunes to work to. Lovely basslines 4.5 rounded up

I really enjoyed this one! Abstract and instrumental like other offerings but unlike Ágætis Byrjun which was more dreamlike and trance inducing, each piece on this album had a real energy and momentum about it that I really liked. I’ll come back to this one again I am sure!

Cool beats.

These guys are fun and cool without really trying... The exact opposite of most British musicians. This is a great album. All of the songs are great, and whether you like it or not everyone else you do like likes this so you still like it. And, if you do like this but haven't followed these guys since, check out Pocket Symphony, it's also really good.

Front to back this album makes sense. What a vibe

fucking rad

I've listened to this one far too often over the years to be impartial. These tracks are part of my chemical makeup by now. Fun fact: When I visited France in 1996 (about a year and a half before this album dropped), I bought me a stuffed monkey on the streets of Paris as a travel companion. Said monkey is one and the same as the star of the 'Sexy Boy' video and, coincidentally, sitting next to me as I write this review. Indeed, what a wonderful travel companion he has been!

My favorite album by a group I quite like. Just a great vibe all around. A solid 4, brought up to a 5 due to a great surround sound Dolby Atmos mix on Apple Music.

Very chill and psychedelic electronic music, and perfect listening fare for this rainy night. This is the kind of music I could easily listen to for hours, especially the instrumental tracks.

Ahhh, "The French band, Air," not to be confused with the other band 'Air.' These guys are bunch of dicks. But, I like their music. And, maybe even the album art...

Genre classic. No notes.

YEEEEEEEEAAAHAHHHHH, I FUCKING LOVE THIS ALBUM utterly beautiful

Loved it

Good noise

The warm blanket of an album from a time in my life of great enjoyment and no responsibilities. Sure it's a bit hackneyed now but it's still just a wistful soundtrack to nothing in particular and I like it. Ahhh "Ce matin là", it certainly is.

I liked this one, 4.5 stars

Amazing. Classic.

Downtempo electronica out of France... really like it... good songs are good songs no matter the genre... so chill and groovy... Bass playing is standout...

Etherial tunes to float to mixed with a Daft Punk-esque sound. Would be the perfect album to play when zooming through space.

Really great, chilled album.

Perfect album.

A titan of the genre.

Oh this is a wonderful surprise! Electronica vibes. I'm really into it. Another band for a deep dive.

Lovely album. Everything sounds so pleasing - the tones of the instruments, the vocals. Nothing is discordant but nothing is boring or predictable either. It's not my usual genre but I can't imagine enjoying low key electronicy jazz-influenced pop more than this.

Really lovely chilled out album. So relaxing

Really like this. It's calm, it's relaxed, it's a bit spacey... I have saved this album to re-listen to later.

Inventive yet accessible avant-garde pop perfection.

One of the best albums I have listened to. I was interested on every song.

I mean, I knew I was going to give this a 4 or a 5 before I even turned it on. It's Air!

Legendaarinen! Onhan tämä nyt tasapainoista ranskalaista upeutta 5/5

Great music to work to. Or drive. Or just about anything. Nice relaxing, pour me another one.

An easy 5 this one. Such a beatiful album with every song a winner and gorgeous contributions from Beth Hirsch.

Strong nostalgia five on this one - it's all mixed up with the summer of the lovey honeymoon phase of my first serious relationship. Fave tracks - "La Femme D'Argent" for kicking things off, let's say, but any of these tracks have the power to transport me back to those times.

One of my favourites, when that first song starts you know exactly where you are and what you are getting. Love it, glad a new generation are getting to discover it through the list

Best electronic record ever.

I remember this from the Napster days. The first 75% (or so) of this album is made up of bangers. Then after one or two forgettable songs, there are some more bangers. 5 stars for creating a killer vibe!
