very awesomesauce!

Don't ever need to hear this one again. It's important. A classic. Great songs and production. But I was born in 1966. I've heard this record thousands of times. Enough Rumours for me.

a classic

So many of my favorite songs are on this album but the duds are real stinkers

THIS IS STUNNING! My first introduction to this music was through the Glee episode 'Rumours.' I loved the covers so much that I went into this album with incredibly high expectations—and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. I absolutely loved it. Honestly, I feel like there’s nothing I can say about this album that hasn’t already been said by people far more articulate than me. It is just a flawless experience. My personal standouts were 'Second Hand News,' 'Dreams,' 'Never Going Back Again,' 'Don’t Stop,' 'Go Your Own Way,' and the beautiful 'Songbird.' This is a 4-star album for sure. I’m so excited to have finally experienced it in full!

Iconic

Me he guardado: «Dreams», «Don't Stop», «Go Your Own Way» y «The Chain». Es un gran disco, pero no tiene un extra de relación con mi vida que es lo que me llevaría a darle 5 estrellas. No creo que esto perjudique la media y es mi opinión más honrada darle un 4.

Dysfunctional relationships never sounded so good

surprisingly fun songwriting and melodies

7.5/10

Great album filled with classics. Excellent stuff

Very cohesive sound. Enjoyable listen.

This was pretty decent, but for being the absolute highest rated album on this list, I expected a lot more.

wheeler season 1 I thought I was pretty sick. Dream gave it most of the stars tho

wheeler season 1 i can see you phoenix 😛 sleep with one eye open -not charles

i like little gurls and kids and tings. rape is fun. holly wheeler season 1.

i had only heard the most popular songs off this album but now i’m glad i finally gave the others a listen!

Optional

Hard to hate. Songbird is a beautiful song I didn't know.

Some classics on here, still not a big fan of Fleetwood Mac though.

Favs: Dreams, The Chain, You Make Loving Fun, Oh Daddy, Gold Dust Woman

Heared it for the first time in full. It's good, melodic and fun, but not as good as everyone says it. Now I'm even more sure, that top albums of this band are with Peter Green

wykurwiste

Sehr tolles und vielseitiges Album. Das Zusammenspiel der beiden vocalists ist super, es werden viele verschiedene Stimmungen erkundet. Sehr starke Melodien.

de bass in the chain omg

A partir de The Chain empecé a conectar. Qué pedazo de tema, qué pedazo de bassline, qué pedazo de build-up. You Make Loving Fun otro temazo. Las palmitas en I Don’t Want to Know. Oh Daddy otro temardo. Es más rock y menos folk de lo que me esperaba según la imagen que tenía en mi cabeza. I get it know.

Rumours is clearly a hugely popular album, even though this was my first time listening to it. “Go Your Own Way” feels strangely familiar to me, almost like something I must have heard growing up, and tracks such as “Songbird” and especially “The Chain” make it easy to understand why this album couldn’t have been ignored at the time. What stood out to me most, though, was the bass — especially on “The Chain,” where it draws me in in a way I can’t quite explain. It really feels like a band where every member is equally strong and deeply professional, which gives the album an undeniable sense of sincerity.

Ubiquitous

Dont think I ever noticed until now just how present the bass and drums are on this album. In a good way. The songs where they are less present I like a little bit less than the rest.

One of the preeminent rock albums of the 70s, consistently rated at the top of greatest album polls. Recorded in 1976, released in early 1977. It has sold over 40 million copies since its release. Possibly the greatest opening track in rock history, Secondhand News is a complete classic. The whole first side delivers classic after classic, from Dreams to Never Going Back Again to Don't Stop to Go Your Own Way. Easily top ten single album sides, and if this album was only one side it would get a 5 star rating. But an album has 2 sides, and side 2 is not as strong. Good songs, including The Chain and I Don't Wanna Know (see SNL skit), but some real snoozers including Oh Daddy. Fucking awful. Ends with Gold Dust Woman, another total classic with JUST the right amount of cowbell. Great closing song, but could just as easily have been the opening track. Would probably rate 4 1/2 stars, but that's not allowed...

For all intents and purposes this should be a 5 star, songs are all great. I just don't think I ever would go out of my way to listen to it. Sure if it comes up on the radio, I will tap my toe and maybe even sing along, but I just don't think I would put it on. But that's more on me than on the album I mean there’s a reasons that as of today, rumours by fleetwood mac is the highest rated album on the 1001 albums tracker website. With a near perfect production, this is an essential soft rock album. Every song is a hit. I also particularly love the between acoustic and electronic instruments throughout the album. And who doesn’t love Stevie Nicks’s voice

I've never particularly thought about it before, but I previously didn't know much about Fleetwood Mac besides their name - not their genre of music nor that they're the ones who made Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, and You Make Loving Fun. It's truly surprising to me that I recognize this many songs and did not know they were all from this band. Anyway, I generally enjoyed this album.

classic with so many good hits

Here it is. The highest rated album on the list. This is an obvious classic and I'm not at all surprised by it's placement here. Definitely a crowd pleaser. It's easy to listen to and has lots of iconic hits. Literally nothing you can dislike about this album. Favorite track: The Chain

Before listening: OMG IM GOD’S FAVORITE! I can’t wait to listen! During listening: I recognized more songs than I anticipated . But loved the songs I wasn’t familiar with more. After listening: we want Stevie…

NOSSA RUMOURS???

Great Album

this review is quite biased since i love fleetwood mac, but i love the instrumentals on these songs! my top three songs were: - dreams - you make loving fun - the chain honorable mentions: - oh daddy - gold dust woman

Enjoyed listening to this - played it through a few times, in fact. I enjoyed it as an album played in sequence more than the occasional scattered selection.

good vocals and rhythm, i like the lyrics too. one of the best albums out there, but of course, it’s fleetwood mac. best: hard to say, maybe never going back again worst: secondhand news (even though it is still a decent song)

yep yep that was it i like it!!!!!

the girls carried this album. liked Lindsey’s vocals delivery a lot in “don’t stop” and “the chain” overall: 4/5 favourite tracks: dreams, songbird, the chain least favourite tracks: never coming crack again, i don’t want to know

classic, liked some ones that i hadn’t heard before

Fav: the Chain

The singles from this album were all over the radio back in the day and for years to come but somehow I never listened to a complete Fleetwood Mac album. This is an excellent one with absolutely no filler. And yet I’m going to give it 4 out of 5. It just doesn’t speak to me in the way my favorites do. I added “Dreams” to my Generator playlist. My favorite song of theirs is “Landslide” but unfortunately that doesn’t appear on either album on the List.

I loved it. "Go your own way" and "Gold Dust Woman" were my favorites.

7.5/10 Opis w notce na tel/excelu na kompie(?)

It’s a classic but doesn’t hit as hard for me

6.82/10

it's fuckin rumours isn't it

Absolute great

Solid but heavily overrated

Top 5 songs: dreams; go your own way; songbird; the chain; silver springs.

popular af for a reason. i liked the popular ones off the album but the other songs are pretty good too, but i wasnt a huge fan but can understand how theyre so popular.

4 1/2. A great album.

This was really good. I didn’t feel all five-star like most of the ratings, but I can see the appeal.

9/10 - слушал частично

listened to like 4 of the songs, all very good

Initial track Secondhand News is overly poppy, nice harmonies though. However, this is just about the only track that I don't like on this album. Just about every song is a hit. Definitely worth being on this list. Stevie Nix's voice is awesome.

bangers

I spent 2021 attempting to learn “Never Going Back Again” on guitar and nearly broke my fingers. Anyway, it’s a very good album. But I don’t believe it to be one of the greatest of all time as the ratings on this list would have you think.

Quality. Top rated 1001 album of all time, I'm not too sure about, but I like it a lot 8.2/10

I can respect the album without loving it entirely. 7 superhero villains out of 10 lizard wizards

I love the first few songs but didn’t listen to the last three i think

I enjoyed the album as a whole, but I only like 3 songs where I’ll play on loop.

Favourite Songs: Dreams Go Your Own Way The Chain

I’ve never been a big Fleetwood Mac fan, but Dreams and The Chain are undeniable. The rest of the album is solid, so basically it has to rate pretty high

Second hand news- great Dreams-good Never go back again- personal favorite (insane guitar work) Don’t stop-good Go your on own way-alright Songbird-not my favorite The chain-popular for a reason You make loving fun-great I don’t want to know-insanely good Oh daddy-not the same as the rest Gold dust woman- great Overall, a very enjoyable album. I didn’t like some of Stevie Nicks songs. But Lindsey Buckingham songs were honestly the highlights of the album for me. Low points are probably Songbird and oh daddy but everything else is extremely solid

visos dainos panasios, bet geros

Loved it

Classic banger

Great set of tunes, but peters out a little bit in the final third with its weakest, arguably most derivative material. But it's all relative to an almost peerless first half, and there are still some nice harmonies, great playing and superb production throughout, which keeps it breezy. Personal favourites are the first side's quieter ballads, but The Chain is undeniable.

8.5/10

The album is full of hits even though may have long since been ruined for me by car and drug commercials. I like the songs featuring Stevie Nicks the most. It is an enjoyable listen and credit is due but not something I’d reach for. 4/5

After all these years of hearing about this album's reputation, I finally sat down and listened to it, and... it's ok? The big hits are all great, but the other tracks didn't do much for me. This is the perfect album for where the whole star rating system doesn't work. I think it's a 3.5... I'll give it a 4 because Stevie Nicks.

Nearly a perfect album. To come up with all these amazing songs while your band is the definition of disfunction is incredible. If not for a slight aversion to Stevie Nick’s voice this could have been a five

Great album, several pleasant classics

It's Rumours. And that's great. But that's not Tusk. Favorite Tracks: Second Hand News, Never Going Back Again, The Chain, I Don't Want To Know

Good tunes, great voice. But overall just a product, at a time when punk was happening, with people trying to change the world. I know which I’m on.

I don't get the hype for this album. Is it good? Sure. Does it deserve the top spot? Absolutely not?

Bangers through the middle, solid through the end Starts out a little weak with Never Going Back Again in 3rd

Une jolie découverte

Ja kenn ich schon ist ganz hübsch

bello da tutti i punti di vista

Classic but over played

Ballads are generally mid minus dreams, but otherwise good

I'm not a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac, but this is known as a great album. Second Hand News - 7/10. Not bad. Good musicianship. Dreams - 9/10. Silky smooth and slick. Never Going Back Again - 7/10. I like the instrumentation. Pretty solid song. Don't Stop - 8/10. Very good. Not as good as Dreams, but still very good (despite the association with Bill Clinton). Go Your Own Way - 9/10. Excellent tune. Everything fits well in this song. Songbird - 10/10. This is absolutely beautiful. The Chain - 10/10. Incredible song. This is Formula One! You Make Loving Fun - 9/10. Slick and smooth, with rich vocals. Outstanding. I Don't Want to Know - 7/10. Very solid, but not up to the standard of the last couple of tracks. Oh Daddy - 7/10. Again, very solid, but not to the standard of the best of the album. Gold Dust Woman - 8/10. This is Gold Dust Woman? I never knew the title. This song feels like it's been stripped down to the essentials, except for the end, which feels a little out of step with most of the song. Overall Rating - 4.14/5 (8.27/10). Wow. This is absolutely a great album. So many songs that deserve the description of iconic.

So many hits on this album, I can't believe it was the band's 11th. I've listened to it a few times and generally enjoy it. "Dreams" and "The Chain" are favorites, but some of the songs like the opening track veer into REO Speedwagon territory. For me it nudges its way up to 4 because of its ability to transcend generations.

i wanted more stevie nicks vocals tbh

recognized a lot of songs, i liked chain

When I listened to "Abbey Road" by The Beatles, it was alone in this generator as the top rated album. Now, this album has tied it, and in my opinion, it's not a very exciting battle because both albums-as great as they are-are overrated. This album has hits; excellent hits, in fact. The problem(that forfeits its five-star rating), is there is very little versatility. It's white-people passion music. It needs a little more spunk. More soul. More variety. Favorite Track: "Go Your Own Way".

8 - GOOD

Like Thriller, Dark Side of the Moon and Sgt Pepper’s, this is about as close as you can get to a ubiquitous album. And it’s understandable. You don’t really need any other Fleetwood Mac records as this one already sounds like a greatest hits compilation. One of those times where a band just comes together to create something that stands above everything else they did. So many well known songs on this but I’ve always liked You Make Loving Fun the most.

Just about every cut is a classic

Very good stuff! Some bonafide classics on here, as well as just lots of straightforward songwriting with beautiful arrangements.

Pretty much a perfect example of pop rock, emphasizing both the pop and the rock. The guitar on this is fantastic. It makes the rockers rock but is at its best on the acoustic "Never Going Back Again." On the flipside, "Dreams" is a great slinky pop song with that dreamy guitar in the background, while songs like "Don't Stop" expertly mix the rock and pop. Of course the thing that's talked about most with this is the division in the band and how it's great despite that, but it's also great because of that. The absolute spite on the opener is hidden a bit by how danceable it is, but it's not truly lost. Those feelings also give my favorite track, "Go Your Own Way," its edge. This does fall off a bit in the back half of the second side, which keeps it from getting a 5, but it's never less than enjoyable.

This is a really great album. A lot of really good songs performed really well.

Solid rock from the 70’s. There are timeless tracks on this album (Dreams, Don’t stop, Go your own way, The Chain) that will continue to be enjoyed for decades to come. All around, great listen.

I mean, it's a classic but there are a couple of terrible songs like songbird and oh daddy

Ok ok, this lived up to the hype. Both fleetwood and max have great pipes. Front loaded for sure though, kind of a weak ending imo.

Someone else said this is an essential vinyl to purchase when you buy your first record player. Funny. That’s true. This is the highest ranked album in this project? I don’t get it. Maybe it’s not tough enough for me. Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles, I don’t need em. The songs are well constructed. I’ll listen, but honestly, I’m just looking forward to the next song. They don’t suck me in. Maybe I need to sit down with headphones and completely invest. Maybe one day when I have time.

- A lot of hits on here, as you know. - Stevie’s voice is amazing. I wish she was lead on pretty much all the songs, as I don’t like anyone else’s voice on the album. I get why she wasn’t on Go Your Own Way, though. - Instrumentally, only the guitar and Stevie are notable. - Not a 5 for me because I don’t find it consistently good. For me, there’s filler: Never Going Back Again (though, it has its moments); Songbird; I Don’t Want to Know (I like the clapping, lol); oh, and I *hate* Oh Daddy. I don’t love Chain as much as everyone else does; I love the chorus and outro, but I find the verses with their minimal guitar plucking and, to me, irritating vocals pretty annoying.

Second hand news stands out as a song that has not aged well musically. Rest of the album is excellent, with only one or two songs that don't stand on their own.

This is a great record. I’ve just heard it too many times now. It’s still got the magic, but I need to not listen to this for 5 years or so, so that I can rediscover it again.

The middle section of don't stop, go your own way, songbird and the chain is as good as anything. Some classics mixed in with a few 'fillers'. Solid album.

Classic rock. So much variety and so many hits.

This album, of course, has a whole lot of very good songs (and some average ones) and needs to be on the list. While I appreciate its quality, I just... don't like it than much... hard to say why. Fatigue? The award for world's most boring bass line on an otherwise fine song (Dreams)? The hype? Is it just too poppy for me?

All time run to start an album, not a big fan of Songbird, after that is great to good.

Never listened to a full album and played ‘The Chain’ so much I got sick of it. Let’s see what the full picture looks like (slightly unnerved by the crazy amount of 5 stars and it being number 1 rated on this list)… …god there are a lot of bangers on here! Some I didn’t even know were FM. Although, I am realising my scoring is pretty picky and 5* is a very rare occurrence (maybe 1%) and rests on whether I’d go back, by choice, to listen to this album specifically. Feel like it drops off after ‘The Chain’ and looks like it’s heading for 4* overall…

It’s a classic. Come on. Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow kinda brings it down. It’s so much lesser of a song than all of the others. It sounds like it was written for a tv commercial. Other than that, this is a pretty perfect record.

Loses one star for Dreams. That's right, you heard me

So versatile, this album is going all kinds of places

Unless you've just never heard of this band, this album is probably the most popular Fleetwood Mac album I see when I'm digging through crates at the flea market. I think everyone bought it and played the shit out of it. If you would rather save some money, there's probably about a hundred variants out there if you look. Get you a nice copy for like $5.

Great album with some legendary songs. 8.1/10

Not really my style, but wow are some of these songs catchy. It's hard to ignore.

i do prefer tusk but this is amazing as well it is

Amazing

𝘙𝘶𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 transforms personal turmoil into pure pop alchemy. Behind its glossy production and sunlit harmonies lies a web of heartbreak, jealousy, and creative tension — yet somehow, every song feels effortless. With 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴, 𝘎𝘰 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘖𝘸𝘯 𝘞𝘢𝘺, and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘯, Fleetwood Mac crafted not just soft rock perfection, but a timeless portrait of beauty born from emotional wreckage.

top top

Lots of great tracks on this record. It felt like there were a few tracks where they had fun recording them, and it shows. Favourite Track(s): Dreams, The Chain Least Favourite Track(s): Gold Dust Woman

Would be a 5 but I have heard "Don't Stop" too many times sadly.

A classic and pristine fusion of blues, rock, folk, country, and pop: a real “American music” album. I’ve never listened to this front-to-back and it has such a mythic reputation that I did find myself a little disappointed. As much as I like the laid-back sound, it bordered on sleepy here and there, and Christine McVie is a glaring weak link among the three singers. But at the end of the day, come on, it’s Rumours. It’s good. Best song: The Chain

Very catchy, maybe a touch overplayed

I have never been a big fan of Fleetwood Mac, but this album is close to being a greatest hits album. So many classics. Pretty sure 9 of the songs were in a regular rotation at a lot of radio stations. I know I get to hear this album a little too much as Mindy puts the vinyl pretty often. Christine McVie is underrated. Mac is a little overrated. I'm sure my wife would disagree. All in all, I have to give credit due. This is a very good album. Kind of forgot how many good songs were on this album. 4

maybe i’m a stupid 10 iq degenerate, but how does this album always get in the top 20 of the greatest albums of all time in every media creating those ratings. it’s undeniably a good album: good texts, good music. but it’s just good, not great or THE GREATEST. the only exception is the chain. it was my first time fully heating it and it gave me some shivers again, is it a good album? definitely worth being the highest-rated album on this website? nah

Rumours is an album. I have now listened to it, even though I have listened to this album via the radio for my whole life. They sure did make a whole lot of money, that Fleetwood Mac. Wonder if that made them all happy. This band would be significantly less insufferable if every member had no problem with orgies. But maybe that means they would have made less money. The music business.

Probably should be a five. But there’s a couple songs that I’m not great.

Yes!! I don't actually own this album, but I do like it. It's had a few renaissances in my lifetime, the most recent of which is happening roughly right now, and it's always fun to see the kiddos getting into a classic. Lots of lore, good energy, multiple singers, what's not to like? (Well, I guess it's a little bit country-ish, which isn't usually my vibe, but it doesn't bother me when it's more upbeat and the lyrics aren't about murder and horses.) There's so many hits on here, but unfortunately that means I'm a little burned out on some of them ('Dreams', 'Don't Stop', 'Go Your Own Way'), even though they're good tracks. Some still have the juice, though. Highlights: 'Never Going Back Again' (nice acoustic guitar! reminds me of my friend Lil' Alex), 'Songbird', 'I Don't Want to Know' (which was already on my "liked songs" playlist; a rare bird for a 70s track), the fact that Christine McVie told John 'You Make Loving Fun' was about her dog (lol) Lowlight: 'Gold Dust Woman' (a little bit of a snoozer)

Struck a nerve (with me that is).

Still a classic.

I knew all but 4 songs on this album. It was good.

no idea how i am so familiar w this having never personally put it on

really high 3 for me, but maybe not a full 4. I think I knew every song on this except for Oh Daddy, which was interesting to find out

A few bangers. Some weaker tracks towards the end. I've never gone out of my way to listen to whole albums of theirs, but this is pretty good.

sehr es geils album. vom musigstil her isches mir teilwiis biz zu country-happy. gad au di viele söttige songs am afang vom album (ussert dreams) sind chli e überdosis (second hand news, never going back again, don’t stop, go your own way). drum gits nur 4 statt 5 sterne, aber schwirigi entscheidig gsi. will: d bandbreiti vode verschiedene songs im verlauf vom album isch unglaublich - nur scho vo songbird zu the chain zu you make loving fun gahts vonere berüehrende ballade über en rhythmische, schwerere rock mit passende melodie und pausene hin zu catchy funk. oh daddy findi sehr berüehrend. d mehrstimmigkeit vode singstimme in gold dust woman im letzte song hittet nomal mega.

This is a great album if I’ve ever heard one. But I don’t think it’s an album I love. Based on quality I should give this five stars, it’s great, but it’s not quite on the “I love this” level that every album I’ve given five stars to is on. So as this is my personal ranking I’m giving this amazing album 4 stars because it didn’t connect to me on the level others did. Maybe I’ll regret that choice later, but maybe not.

is it a good album? yes, but i'm sleeping The Chain pedrada, até me acordou. Gosto mais do final do que do começo.

All I can see are the gonads. Obv a classic...

A classic. A bit biased given I own the album. Amazing how many hits there are on this album.

It was okay. Most of these songs are played on Classic Rock Radio all the time. So, I have heard the songs a lot. This album was way better than “Tusk”.

REALLY fun album. Heard a handful of these songs before but just a super fun listen.

Iconic album from the always dramatic ensemble. Various writing credits, with each member sharing in the success. A classic for a reason.

Real good. Dreams, go your own way, and the chain are classics and are probably still my favorites, but second hand news and gold dust woman were new to me and were cool too.

Cool songs - Don’t stop, Go your own way, I don’t want to know

This album is like the time your aunt came and stayed for a couple of weeks because she had just gotten out of a messy relationship. You were a young teenager, desperate to experience the revelry of your future years, and your aunt was the window into that world. She does Tai Chi, drinks a buttery chardonnay with every lunch, smokes a pack of Benson & Hedges Special Filter a day, and turns a blind eye when you steal a couple. She is the one at the dinner table suggesting that you are old enough to have a glass of wine with your meal, much to the chagrin of your mother. Your father is pretty sick of this aunt, especially as this is the third time in as many years that she has needed to stay for "emotional support". He wouldn't dare say anything to your mother because that would risk an argument that he knows would get heated. Maybe his sister-in-law could contribute to the bills or groceries in some way? That chardonnay adds up you know, especially when she is going through almost a bottle every day. Every night, just before bed, he tries to psych himself up to suggest to your mum that it might be time her sister leaves, but then he hears sobbing coming from the spare bedroom, and muffled voices complaining to themselves about that how bastard Steve that has done her dirty and ruined her life. You dad thinks maybe she can stay for a few more days. After all, the kids seem to love having her around. Saturday morning arrives, and your aunt appears from her room at 10am, bright-eyed and excited for a new day of opportunities. Mum offers to cook bacon and eggs for everyone, and your aunt tells you and your sister a few anecdotes about some of her wilder years. You are still pretty young and naive, but you know a story about copious drug use and group sex when you hear one. This seems like as good a time as any to tell your parents you'll be out most of the day, as you are going to the movies with your friend Caroline. You mum gets nervous at the idea of you having a girlfriend, while your dad is quietly excited that you are showing that kind of confidence. Your aunt suggests to you that the dimly lit room of a movie theatre is the perfect place to sneakily sneak a hand up a girls skirt. All of a sudden you feel out of your depth.

Love it

Love this album!! The story telling is next to none of its time!

now this was such a fun listen, i played the album through three times without being bored by any of the tracks (no skippers) and i can confidently state that i will keep returning to this album. Each time Go Your Own Way Came on, i was movin' and shakin' like i had ants in my pants. of course i already know the song, you'd have to have been living under a rock most of your life to have not encountered one or another of the songs off this album at some point. I imagine many of them are radio staples. Back to GYOW and relistening reminded just what an absolute banger this song is, it's upbeat, urgent tempo belies the torment, the arguments, the heartache which band members were going through in their relationship meltdowns. The Chain has always been synonymous with Top Gear and i've never really listened to the album track in full; not before the 1001 albums assignment. it's hard to disassociate the two, but i think i can shake the shackles, throw off the chains. The prelude to that bass intro, the anticipation of the riff, and the way in which the track just takes off from this point on; it is such a delectable moment when it hits, racing cars or no racing cars. I'm considering The Chain to be another highpoint on an album which already has no lows. If it because i am already familiar with the tune ? I don't know and i don't care. There are some nice changes of tempo and of mood and Songbird, a beautiful ballad, is a fine example of a change of pace which keeps things fresh and allowed the 39 minutes runtime to pass by with me barely noticing, until the album was over Soft Rock/Pop Rock isn't particularly my thing, but right now i'd unreservedly include Go Your Own Way in my desert island discs selection; i might even consider bringing the full album. Overall, this is such a great Pop Rock album and it's apparent to see why it has such mass appeal; and why after 49 years it is still revered and has such a popular following. there's not a single song i wanted to skip and whilst it'll take more than one day of listening for some of the tracks to work they way into my head, i've already found myself returning to Oh Daddy a couple more times since my focused listen (3 of them) earlier today. And now whilst listening to Dreams i envision it playing as background music in the all-american diner in Nowheresville USA, as we sit drinking our refills of coffee and idly gazing out at the occasional vehicle passing by on the main drag on their way to somewhere more interesting than here. i'm feeling a solid 4 - 4.5 on this one. as you won't let me vote half stars i'm giving it 4 stars and saving my 5th star for albums that cause my heart to race and have have me proclaiming my undying love for them, each and every listen.

So many great songs that I've heard everywhere. Well produced and really cohesive. Great sound. Timeless album. 8/10

Listened to this as a kid. Good memories. ★★★★

Not just a rumour here, but a fact - Great listen from start to finish.

Stevie was right to go her own way. Anything without her drags it down.

Well its a nice album but a bit lightweight, the main hits are really the strong points. Expected it might be better.

Guitar playing is amazing.

An old favorite from the day.

All the hits

I like this album but i do think its overrated. Half of these songs are just boring or annoying. The Chain is probably one of the best songs ever made tho. 8/10 Favourite: The Chain Least Favourite: Don't Stop

Pretty much all of these are great. 4/5 stars

What can you say? It’s Rumors… there’s a reason it’s one of the best selling records of all time. Every vinyl collector worth their salt should have this in their collection.

Absolute all time album. Quite brilliant. Having said that... definately not a personal 5 star for me. Couple of skippable songs. 3.8 rounded up

Always been a favourite

Disco bello e corposo, pieno di singoli di successo, pietra miliare

Good unique songs except oh daddy don’t like that one

DAMNNNN nisam znala da je OVO fleetwood mac— skoro svaku pjesmu sam čula. Veoma kul album ali nije mi kao ostali koje sam slušala do sada… Najbolja pjesma je Songbird!

Solid 4

I listened to this record for the first time a few years back after dismissing it for most of my life as “old person music even when they were young”. But now as an older person myself I appreciate it as having some genuinely great songs. Still without the lore and Stevie Knick’s style cult they’re really just typical classic soft rock.

hab schon ganz gut

Classic. Full of great songs.

Obviously a classic with a lot of bangers and I enjoyed it. But it's not the type of album I'd ever see myself putting on intentionally which puts it at a 4 for me

Very consistent album!

Possibly one of the trickiest albums to date so far. Given its lofty position at the top of the global ratings it has a lot to live up to and comes with a certain number of expectations. Having listened to this album a number of times previously it has always grown on me each listen, finding new things to like each time. It’s another album that an 18 year old me would have scoffed at but as my ears have aged and my music tastes have changed it has become more appealing. I’d probably still give this a few stars if Go Your Own Way was the only song in it. I do like a lot of this for what it is but I’m not quite at the ‘this is amazing’ stage as there are a few songs I wouldn’t be fussed about skipping.

It's Rumours. Everyone knows it. Most people own it. Still a classic.

I just can’t shake the feeling it whiffs it slightly at the end! Still brilliant

Can't say I revere this album like others, but it is very good

Interesante y curioso álbum por el contexto de su grabación.

You forget just how good this album is. Every song stands up. Of course Stevie Nick’s voice is iconic.

-No misses -Different sounds but all good moods -Like how the singers switch -Good drops -Kind of tired of it

Classic. Some average songs mixed in with the good stuff.

It’s a good album, gets all the flowers, and should, but has never clicked with me. Go your own way and listen

Gostei! Tem alguma coisa nesse álbum que não está explícito nas músicas, e acho que casou bem com a sonoridade e as letras. Além de Dreams e The Chain, eu gostei de Never Going Back Again, Go Your Own Way e You Make Loving Fun

One of the reasons I did this project is that I knew I'd never listen to albums such as this without some kind of structured motivation. Impression I had from the singles was not Dad, nor even Mom rock - but Family Rock. So innoffensive and bland that the whole family could agree. On listen its a little weirder theres lots of Buckingham fingerpicking and a bebopalula sorta number. The chain is a real son of a bitch of a song though. I once told a fm loving friend that the best thing they did was the bass breakdown on this song, and he didn't know what I was talking about. Typical of the type of person who rates this so highly but doesn't really know why, or why there's so much better stuff to be in contention for greatest album or whatever. It's fine, but be better, World.

This album is a classic.

4.0 Damn good album but no 1 on this whole website is a little much I’d say

A pillar of '70s rock canon, Rumours earns its classic status by turning heartbreak into harmony with polished precision. The band’s inner turmoil bleeds into every track, yet the result is a remarkably cohesive, radio-ready masterpiece. “Dreams” remains Stevie Nicks’ haunting, ethereal high point, while Lindsey Buckingham’s “Never Going Back Again” showcases delicate, intricate fingerpicking that contrasts beautifully with the driving urgency of “Go Your Own Way.” “The Chain”—a rare group composition—builds from slow-burn to explosive crescendo, cementing its place as a fan favorite. Christine McVie’s “You Make Loving Fun” adds a warm, funky lift to the emotional swirl. While the closing “Gold Dust Woman” stands out tonally—more eerie than cathartic—it still casts a spell, even if it feels like a strange final note. Nearly five decades on, Rumours still sounds like lightning in a bottle.

Leading with Second Hand News is certainly a choice. An album of hits with a couple head scratchers that bring it down. Without those, it would be 5*, but as is, 4.

Growing up Tango In The Night was one of a few tapes I remember my Dad having in the car. As I got a bit older I thought Fleetwood Mac was a bit uncool but I did liked the song Tusk. So somehow in my mind I acknowledge the quality of the band but viewed Rumours as somewhat overrated without actually having purposefully listened to it. I still don't think it's one of the best albums of all time, there are plenty of other albums from the 70s alone that I like better, but have to admit the songwriting and production is great even if you don't really buy into the drama of the inter-band conflict.

Nice, maar beetje veel van hetzelfde. Wel relaxed album. Dreams is wel de topper.

🤙🤑🤑

loved it im just rlly bad at recognising the words that r spoken. dad kept singing it the entire day

Overplayed in my area. Payola big time.

a lot of bangers

Solid album. I liked some of their other album more but still a strong album.

Not as good as the “best of” 🤔

First time listening through fully, loved it

timeless

Classic album. Not something I listen to regularly, but every now and then these songs hit the mood just right.

Great album, I liked it a lot. I already knew a lot of the songs.

In fairness, should be at least 4.5. But I really, really can’t stand “Don’t Stop.”

4 out of 5. Finally this holy grail album came up. It was good, can see why people like it, but felt it was a little over-hyped.

Surprised to have heard a couple of these songs, not knowing who they were. All in all, a fairly pleasant experience. 7/10

I have the vinyl in the garage... bought it when it came out, more or less, I was 9. This was the kind of huge record that never happens anymore because we don't have a monolithic music industry and FM radio. There's definitely quality to it, and on that basis, it could deserve a five, certainly it's an all time record. That said, for my own personal tastes, I'd rather listen to something else. It's a little bit like an Eagles album... there's clearly quality there, but that said, you can agree it's a good work, worthy of a listen, but then prefer to listen to other things.

Everyone love this album, me too <3

Lotta hits

Finally I've generated Rumours! I knew quite a few of these songs but had never listened to the album in full. Based off all the high scores, I really was expecting to be blown away. But sadly some of these were pretty boring and bland It was still a good album on the whole, would have probably rounded up to a 5 had Oh Daddy not been on the tracklist. Really did not like that song The Chain brings back so many memories of watching F1 as a kid. Go Your Own Way is another massive banger. These 2 songs were the ones that carried this album Glad to say I've finally listened to it, although I do think its a bit overhyped. Maybe its just not my cup of tea 4 ⭐️

The turmoil and troubles in the making of this album are well documented. How they did it is a mystery but they did. A genuine classic album.

Thoughts before listening: I mean its a classic for a reason, full of timeless songs that remain very much a part of popular culture. Its also a bit overly poppy for my tastes, but ultimately its hard to hate on Fleetwood Mac. I'll enjoy listening to this. Review: Its hard to rate something like this where songs like "Don't Stop" and "Go Your Own Way" are just such an ever present part of our culture. Of course its a great album full of great songs, but is it something I would ever choose to listen to put on the record player? No, not really. Its just too poppy and vanilla for my personal tastes, even if I can clearly state that its great. My personal favorites on this album are "Dreams", "The Chain", and "Gold Dust Woman", and seeing as how the first two on my list are the most listened to Fleetwood Mac songs on Spotify, it seems many people share this opinion. 4-stars

It was good, got kinda boring like most of classic rock

Has some bops, but maybe I am soured a bit from it being overplayed? Still very good. 4.5/5

Loved this. I wouldn't consider myself a fan, but it hit the spot yesterday. Gold Dust Woman is hypnotic.

82/100 A fun album from FM. Enjoyed it.

A classic for a reason

Feels like a 3.5, but that’s rounding up. There are some sledgehammeringly good songs on here and some very bad ones. “Second Hand News” as an album opener is painful. To go from that to “Dreams” is like stubbing your toe (“Second Hand News”) on the gates of heaven (“Dreams”). It’s like a gauntlet of pain with a nirvana of payoff. It’s like an album starting with a terrible song and the second song makes you think someone made you a mixtape with different bands just to mess with you. Second songs can truly be gems and this album is no exception. “Don’t stop” is like a joke to a listener who hated “Second Hand News,” because listening to both songs made me want to stop listening to the album. “Go Your Own Way” is a total banger and brings the album back on track (thank god). “You Make Loving Fun” has to be one of my new fave Fleetwood Mac songs. I think I’ve known this one for a bit but today’s listen coupled with realizing that it big-time sounds like Midlake’s “Roscoe,” entered this song into the camp of ones I will happily return to.

More hits than a Mike Tyson fight

Dreams is a desert island single, no question. Stevie is the original alien superstar. ✅✅✅✅✅ Dreams ✅✅✅✅ Go Your Own Way ✅✅✅You Make Loving Fun

I love this album dearly - so much so that it would probably make the cut if I was castaway on an island and could only bring 10 albums with me. But it's not perfect. 'Don't stop' feels so out of place and 'Go your own way' similarly doesn't capture the relationship ending realizations that the rest of the album brings through so vividly. If only 'Silver springs' were included. It's an album I'll revisit throughout my life, but alas, it's a 4 for me.

Good maybe a tad overrated

Fantastisch. Wird jedes Mal hören besser

easy 4. was familiar with this album already.

Bonkers album, in terms of instrumentation, soundscape, and especially mixing. Especially fascinating project considering the chaotic conditions under which it was conceived.

Total classic. One of those albums where every track is a winner, showcasing the broad talent within the band

Some cool use of guitars. I especially like The Chain Edit Mar 17 2026: edit 5 --> 4. I find it too pop-y for me

Hard to think of another album from 1977 with as many recognizable songs as this. The mystique of the band drama adds to it for me

I think I'd need a few more listens to really appreciate this album. I saw that it had major critical acclaim - it was a solid album to go through, but it didn't stand out THAT much to me on first listen.

✅ um classico é um clássico

Very good. I don’t get what the hype around Dreams is about. I enjoyed it, and am giving it some re-listens, but it’s kinda just.. good? Idk abt 2 billion streams good. Album sounds modern, which is really interesting since it’s from the 70’s.

8,5/10 Highlights: Dreams The Chain Gold Dust Woman

quite possibly the most renowned breakup album, but i was unparalleled levels of drama throughout every track. other than the few tracks with clear country influence, it was a really enjoyable listen.

About what I expected, musically good and full of life. But missing something integral to what I enjoy in music, can’t quite say what

Classic, but possibly a bit overrated.

Obviously one of the biggest classics in this list and for good reason. While it's not my typical fair, it's super enjoyable and layered. Lyrically it's got a lot of great songs too.

second hand news- 6 or 7 dreams- 7. i cant believe i havent put this in sundays playlist yet never going back again- 7 dont stop- 7 go your own way- 6. it kinda reminds me of disney songbird- 6 the chain- 7 or 8 you make loving fun- 7 i dont want to know- 6 or 7 oh daddy- 5 gold dust woman- 7 or 8 good job guys

I love to hate Fleetwood Mac. But this album is really, really good. So many deserving hits, and deep cuts like "Oh Daddy" are even better than 90% of the hits. And even in my most Fleetwood Mac-hating moods, I love "The Chain." 4 stars.

It’s a very very good album, but I’m never convinced when people say it’s the best ever

An album full of hits. Such easy, chill vibes when listening to this record. I've really come to appreciate and love Fleetwood Mac since starting this project. The rhythms and progressions are so easy and soothing on the ears. Absolutely fantastic record.

Classic rock radio staples throughout! Solid tunes.

Highlights: The Chain, Go Your Own Way, Don't Stop, Gold Dust Woman. In a nutshell: an obscure breakup album... ...Which has sold over 40 million units worldwide since 1977 and streamed over 12 billion times on Spotify (as of 23/5/2025). Wow. Opening with Second Hand News was an odd choice. You're easing in rather than hooking people in with a banger. The hits still hit, the songs between are fine. Not a fan of Oh Daddy. Closing the album with Gold Dust Woman was the best choice. What a hidden gem. Overall: 7/10

This album is already in my regular rotation. But I'm not sure how it stacks up to the other albums that I've listened to in this project. It didn't move me the same way a 5 star album would

Good vocals, clean instrumentals. I liked listening to this album, would play it again. 3.5

Great album all the way. I'm just not a huge fan of their sound. But pretty good nonetheless.

Well you can’t deny this is an absolute classic album Favourite tracks: Dreams, Never Going Back Again, the Chain, Gold Dust Woman

Хорошая музыка, приятная, есть один хит

++: Second Hand News, Dreams, Don't Stop, The Chain, You Make Loving Fun, Oh Daddy, Gold Dust Woman +: Never Going Back Again, Songbird, I Don't Want to Know +-: Go Your Own Way 9,0/10

The most American sounding British pop album in existence, which makes sense given the two main songwriters are American. The sunny, Californian sound of this album became so massively influential that it is hard to hear these songs as more than the blueprints for everything that came after. The big choruses, the simple, yet effective vocal harmonies, the introspective lyricism, all of this has been copied to death over the years. Still, against all odds, this album transcend all its pale imitators and remains a landmark in pop music. A bit overhyped, sure, but still very good. Key tracks: Dreams Don't Stop Go Your Own Way The Chain

Fun listen. 4 stars because we wrote a larp about it.

I’ve never listened to this before. I know several songs and the title and the cover through osmosis, though. Listening feels like returning to the seventies and leaves me very confused about how to score it. It’s obviously very classic. I can get into it if imagine I’m in that time. It’s not really my sort of thing but it sort of is. I dunno. It’s confusing. Four?

Brutal, honest, fantastic album

Powerfully popular. Overplayed, yet remains a rewarding listening experience

I am surprised by how many songs I already knew. Great album.

- I want to slap myself for giving this a 4, but if Buckingham could get out of the way of Ms. Nicks and Ms. McVie, this could arguably be the best record ever made. Don't get me wrong, "Go Your Own Way" goes hard, but the ladies are continually the stars. - I could happily die to "Dreams" and "You Make Loving Fun."

already listened to this, 8/10

Tolles Album und hat mich sehr an frühere Autoreisen zu Verwanten und Urlaub erinnert :D - 4 Sterne

Schönes Album, einige radiotaugliche Lieder, aber im Guten Sinn.

Hard to separate my adoring high school senior listening from listening now. Holds up pretty well but a little frayed around the edges. The gems make the filler fill. The harmonizing entices, more, please. The occasional leads are desperate invitations--more, please. The popness dulls--I can barely listen to Don't Stop. I appreciate Nicks' witchiness, but much preferred McVie's sometime grit (You Make Loving Fun is no fun and Daddy? ugh). Recall that '77 was the year of Heroes and Never Mind the Bollocks--more to my taste then and more so now. That cover? Took some balls.

I admire the craftsmanship, the talent, the voices. The Chain is one helluva song. However, Fleetwood Mac has never quite given me the feels. I like the songs in context with their history. I’ve been known to watch a documentary about them and absolutely love every song in it. And then promptly forget them all. I would never choose to actually play one of their albums for myself but I understand how classic this album is and how important they are. If I was allowed half points, they’d be a 3.5 but The Chain bumps them up.

The Chain.

Heard it

Lots of great songs I was already familiar with. A few in between sounded good but easily forgettable. Not perfect from start to finish, but pretty damn good

Back in the days I used to look for this one in record stores for ages. One star for the chain, my favourite song for long, one for go your own way, one for songbird and one for gold dust woman. Another half one for the live performance of silver springs, which i watched a million times. Great one! 4,5/5 ⛓️

This is a good album but I dont' think it's the total masterpiece that some people do. The hits absolutely are hits and I enjoy them still even after hearing all of them 10000 times, and the deeper tracks are good but not 5 star good. "The Chain" and "Gold Dust Woman" are my favorites on here. I could do without "Second Hand News" and "Never Going Back Again". The rest of the disc are practically all major radio singles, and for good reason. They're catchy, they span a variety of genres, and are different enough that they could come from different bands in a few cases. That's kinda the reason Fleetwood Mac are as good as they are - they are really multiple bands in one, with a big part of that coming down to the vocals and the sheer variety between them. There's a lot already said about this album by everyone else, I dont' have any hot takes. It's better than good, but not quite great for me.

A Classic album which is worthy of it's status. Should be uttered in the same breath as other classic rock albums

Whole heartedly the pinnacle of Fleetwood Mac's career (or at least the one that everyone else knows, I'm much more partial to Peter Green's). I've actually grown to like this album because of its visonary 80's tonality and semi-disco rock rythmns. Fleetwood seemed to walk a fine line and genre blend on this album and the care they put into it (infighting aside) shows. Solid 4 star album, a highlight of the discography and a iconic release of the decade.

A great album with a run of songs through the middle that is perfect. Can take or leave the last few tracks though.

bow bow bow bow bow bow buh bow bow bow bow buh bow buh bow

Can't beat these classic tunes. They make me want to drink some cranberry juice on a skateboard

So many strong songs on this album. Funnily enough my favorite is probably Second Hand News. Maybe one day I'll have to pick up my bass guitar and try to cover it. Other favorites are Go Your Own Way and Don't Stop. This is the type of album that has a bit of everything on it for everyone.

Overrated as this may be, it still truly is one of the greatest albums of all time.

Wow, I was really expecting a lot since this is the highest rated album here. It absolutely does not justify that position, but I guess this album just has no haters. There are definitely 3-4 great songs, but the rest is really nothing specially

Honestly I was a bit disappointed. This is a great album but it is not Pop Album Jesus like everyone claims it is

So the thing is that I like Rumours, and I like Fleetwood Mac. But is this one of the greatest albums ever? Well... It is not particularly inventive in terms of production or songwriting. The musicians are great players, but I would actually argue that «Tango in the Night» is a better album in terms of musicianship. The only argument I can find for this being so highly rated is that it was a hit in 1977. However, I must sadly say it is one of the more overrated albums of all time. It is still 5 star material but I can come up with quite a few better albums on this list. So 4 stars is more as a protest because this album overshadows so many other brilliant albums.

Very enjoyable. Lot of memorable songs. Chains, Go your own way, You making loving fun, say. Lot of 5/5 songs for me. But equally many 3/5 songs too.

Not cohesive

Maybe their best album? Although Tango in the Night is right up there for me. Very strong, and some of their absolute best songs. Mid 4s

I got a classic at last! "Go Your Own Way" alone could give this album a high rating. "Rumours" isn't as good as "DSotM", fight me. But it's still a masterpiece no matter what. It might be a 5-star after 5 listens. 4 stars for "Rumours".

Har ikke hørt så mange fra dette albumet, mange bra men noen litt kjedelig idk... Definitivt mer min smak enn enkelte andre album.

amazing

One of those albums you know about before you even really know what music is. There are some incredibly great songs on here but the sequencing is something I wish I was more into. I think “Don’t Stop” is mostly just fine and kinda sucks the steam outta the engine between two stone cold masterpieces. “The Chain” is by far the best track on the album… might even be Fleetwood Mac’s best song, in general. Last third of the record after “You Make Loving Fun” is what knocks off a star for me. I’m a Tusk boy, is that gonna be on this list?

Good beat, catchy. Lots of good songs I’ve heard before.

Close to a 5

Heard this for the first time (lol). Not bad!

Great albums mostly good songs

Never gets okd

All bangers!

Some surprisingly decent soft rock, even if it does fall under the category of mass appeal. 8.8/10 Best Tracks: “The Chain” “You Make Loving Fun”

Almost only bangers, great songwriting, great variety. Knew a lot of the songs already but didn't know they were all on the same album

El álbum de los casi 50 millones de copias, el de Go Your Own Way», «Don't Stop», «Dreams» y «You Make Loving Fun.

Great album

Great album, nice and melodic.
