1 of 1001. Rumors! One of my favorite albums and one that we already have on vinyl at home! What a way to start my journey!

One of the best albums ever, guitar riffs on another level, Dreams and The Chain are two of the most iconic songs ever. The only thing better than the music is the story of how it came about.

One of my favorite albums of all time, my wife was the one to introduce it to me. I love how each band member contributes their own song, and it’s so easy to listen to and enjoy. This album is fantastic!!

Love this album, one of the best of all time

Second Hand News: Very bouncy track to start off with, one I didn't know of previously - it's good. Dreams: I know this one, a more chilled out song from one side of a breakup, also good. Never Going Back Again: Lil' guitar pickin track about moving on - rebounding haha Don't Stop: One I know well, pulsing beat about looking forward - it's a great driving song for me. Go Your Own Way: Also know this one well, very bitter song this one - it's like the drums are smacking the resentment into you by the end. Songbird: A piano ballad love-song - very sweet in the midst of such an emotionally tumultuous album. The Chain: Know this one well too, I'm a really big fan of it - the emotional build-up hits a great spot with the instrumental break and then the lyrical refrains. You Make Loving Fun: Very funky song about that feeling of new love after pain - another different emotion as opposed to the tension in the other songs. I Don't Want to Know: This song has got a sing-along boppy quality to it, feels different to the other songs as well. Oh Daddy: Very moody, lyrics feel very stifling, trapped in something you know is bad for you but can't leave. Gold Dust Woman: Another moody note, the original closer track one that definitely builds up the the emotional end. Silver Springs: It's not in the original album, but I had to include it - what an emotional gut punch this song is, that last chorus repeat is a lot.

Already one of my favorites. Pretty much every song is great.

No two songs are alike and every single one is a damn classic. I can’t imagine not giving this a perfect rating. The recording quality is maybe the best I’ve ever heard. I can imagine how great it was to listen to this at house parties when it came out. My dad was a cop then and told me that almost every noise complaint was Rumours related.

The range, production, chemistry, instrumentation, arrangements, vocals, lyrics are all amazing and I have no complaints. They really got everything right on this one. Nothing more to say. 5/5

Such a good album. I know a lot of people think it's overrated but I disagree. Sets a good vibe for the entire duration of the album. Every song holds up well. Definitely 5 stars!

A lot can be said of this album. The history the tension the music. It’s all what makes this a perfect album. Not many artists can do what fleeteood Mac did on rumours. This is perfection. 10/10

friday soother

I was a big Peter Green fan & when he left Mac, I lost interest. Until I heard (& probably saw)Rhiannon, bought that album in 1975, thereby also buying into the west coast sound that they mastered. That was a good album. This is a great album - it only lets up when you get to the last 3 trax. Up until then it ‘s one banger after another. The 3-vocalist thing is crucial to it’s success, as well as the blend of acoustic & electric, & a rhythm section that had been together for over a decade. Faves? Songbird, Never Going Back Again & Dreams - one from each of the 3 songwriters at the peak of their powers. I just played it through a couple of times & it’s still such a pleasure to hear. I also played the eponymous album, which hasn’t worn nearly as well. As well I dug out Legacy - the tribute to Rumours produced by Fleetwood - average at best. And also a Mac covers album called Tumours (2009) by Sydney band Ripping Dylans - tragic. The original is one of the best.

Fleetwood Mac are my favourite radio band. If one of their songs comes on the radio, I will always turn it up and sing along. Love it. But I never choose to put their records on the turntable (except the Tusk 7”). But this, _this_, is a really great album. The balance of the three songwriters means they are each bringing their A-game, and their approaches complement each other. Buckingham is cynical, Nicks mystical, and McVie optimistic. But then, their voices have their own character, but they sing together so well. It really helps this record to have a significant female viewpoint. If Buckingham had written all the songs, you have to think that his cynicism, almost bordering on bitterness, and tendency to take the centre stage on his own material would have ended up with something more like the Eagles (hock, spit). However, Buckingham's production and guitar is nearly always in service of the song (with significantly less flash than many of his contemporaries, although he certainly has the chops to bring it when required), and McVie's keyboards are sublime. Of course, having one of the greatest rhythm sections in rock doesn't hurt, either. It gets so much radio play, do you really need to play the album? Well, I find not, but I really enjoyed playing this through a few times today. There are some real classic tunes on here, among the best songs of west coast 70s rock; Dreams, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, Songbird, You Make Loving Fun, Gold Dust Woman (although I confess, I actually think Courtney love did this better in her cover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngmhjiR3QOo). This is one of those records where it is easily understood why this is one the highest selling albums of all time. I think the reputation of this record has improved in the past twenty years. It is much more embraced as a classic, rather than the slightly unhip and daggy reputation it had in the early 90s. There's a lot to love about the record; great singing and playing, great songs, it sounds like a million dollars (as it should, considering the recording budget), and the story of all the drama that went with its recording, which adds to the legend of the album. If this isn't a five star album, it's hard to think what would be.

Absolute classic. Not only does it have some of the greatest singles ever, the album flows with great songs and charisma. Few other bands are able to have multiple lead singers work so well.

Always a great listen!

Some really overplayed songs, but a masterpiece I suppose.

I don't think there's anything very useful to say about this. One of the greatest albums of all time that has been dissected by so those more able to than me. I know everything about this album from the numerous documentaries and articles and I also know every song inside out. An extraordinary set of songs, three songwriters at creative peaks at the same time, a sound of a band willing to work in a studio to find the right arrangement and lyrics of love longing and loss. There's a reason that this has sold so many, appears in the best of lists and appeals to people who like all kinds of genres. The best albums are the best albums. This is one of them.

Love this album

I wouldn't be a massive Fleetwood Mac fan, but In my wee humble opinion, Rumours is probably the best album ever produced by Fleetwood Mac. Considering it was released in 1977, there are so many of the tracks on this album that are still played on commercial radio today, such was the calibre of the song writing. I have this album on my own personal library, and would often choose to play many of the tracks regularly. In many ways, this was their peak, as their personal and professional lives started to unravel, but damn this is still a great album.

One of my favorites

I've always been a little lukewarm on Fleetwood Mac, but now that I've really listened to Rumors and read the lyrics, I am a fan. Deep lyrics, fantastic vocal harmonies, and lots of diversity of sound, I really love this album!

Outstanding record

I’ve clearly been sleeping on Rumours! Not a bad song from front to back. Lowest point is “Oh Daddy” but how can you be upset when it’s followed by an amazing song in “Gold Dust Woman”? Not quite a desert island disc, but damn near. 9.5/10

Fantastic album

Absolute classic album. So many great songs.

Such a great pop-rock album. Lindsey Buckingham's guitarwork is astounding and definitely one of the things that make this album so good. He really shines on songs like Second Hand News, an underrated track that is a great album opener where both the guitar and bass drive the song forward, Dreams, where the guitar swells up and down during the song, which is such a perfect pop song, and my favorite of his guitar-playing is probably on Never Going Back Again, such a cool sound and insane playing from Buckingham. The songwriting is great throughout the entire album and you can really feel the tension between both of the couples in the band that had broken up during the making of this album. This is probably what led to the heartfelt sound of this album and something like this will probably never be made ever. Please if you somehow haven't heard this album before, please do. "I Don't Want to Know" is a gem. What an incredible exploration of relationships falling apart, especially when you consider Dreams and Go Your Own Way answers to each other.

Second time today I'm rating this...the last review didn't take. An absolutely sublime album. A band where all members were firing on all cylinders musically and creatively...not so much romantically. An amazing listen.

Good for a reason

Perhaps the best album ever conceived. Front to back bangers. Every member of FM shows us what they can do at their very best. Which is spectacular when you consider the very REAL personal demons face in its creation. A perfect album.

There it is. In contention for GOAT album. Banger after banger. Variety of lead vocalists, catchy hooks, beautifully constructed tracks. Nearly flawless, wish it were longer than 40 min.

Genialt album - kun med hits

The ratings are on point, this album is class. Parents loved it so very nostalgic but it's great in its own right, it has such a large section of their best songs, must make up most of the greatest hits album. Can't decide if Fleetwood Mac have a sound that noone else seems to be able to copy or that there are loads of similar bands but FM just have way better songs.

I believe that the internal difficulties Fleetwood Mac were having throughout the recording of this album made it what it is. Musicianship without compromise - but what do I know? The album starts off with the weakest track, Second Hand News isn't anything to write home about. Then there are 7 consecutive absolute bangers. Dreams: a jazzy classic, beautifully sung and great lyrics. Pensive, but optimistic, and I love the instrumentation. Never Going Back Again: minimalistic, but then why overcomplicate the wonderful melody Lindsay Buckingham created. Simple. Don't Stop: Great fun. Bit mired now from use in political campaigns, however I enjoy the back and forth with the singing. Go Your Own Way: Can't say much more than what others already have. Anthemic. Songbird: A bit of a reflective pause before the rest of the album - beautiful. The Chain: Another club classic. Reading about how the track was made is pretty fascinating. The track hits from the very start - the guitar over the simple beat highlights the lyrics but also has a sense of urgency, and the quick cymbal stop following the chorus is overlooked. Great fun. You Make Loving Fun: I really like Christine McVie's voice - here it is just enough to make the simple track do what it needs to do. Apparently Christine told her husband the song was about a dog, and not about an affair she was having. Sounds like a right laugh to have been in the band. The album finishes with a couple of nice songs that would themselves stand out on any other album, but they are a bit also-ran here. I like I Don't Want To Know - love the harmonies between Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham. Oh Daddy is a bit boring, however Gold Dust Woman has entered my listening rotation; it sounds incredibly spooky and I greatly enjoy the structure. What an album!

This was an easy 5 stars because there are some absolute classics on here. A tight 40 minute album that doesn't fuck about (unlike the members of the band). The fact that this was made under all that relationship turmoil is crazy, how do you even continue to collaborate with people after all that mess. I noticed the high rating of the album and checked how high it is in the rankings.... It's second only to Abbey Road. It's way better than Abbey Road in my opinion. I can't not give it a 5. Dreams alone pretty much makes the album a 5. On the face of it, a lot of the songs sound pretty upbeat, but there's a sadness behind them. The fact that it's only 40 mins long really helps make it great too. Highlights: Dreams Never going back again Go your own way The chain Songbird It does perhaps tail off a bit towards the end but really none of the tracks are bad.

I think part of what makes this album magical is its place on the precipice between acoustic and electric. It retains much of the acoustic soul of the 60s and 70s while obviously pointing towards the glitz and synths of the 80s. The production is second to none. Harmonies are tight. Lyrics are emphatically and effectively delivered. Instrumentation is even better than it needs to be. Not a piece out of perfect place.

Rumours has a solid argument for being the best album of all time. It lives up to and surpasses its reputation, which is the best compliment i can give it.

You Make Loving Fun- Very groovy song yet love the ethereal ambiance to it. Wind chimes >>> The Chain- A favorite of mine! Super good building the intensity especially when there is nothing but the bass towards the end and everything ties together Songbird- Very beautiful song, I love how quiet and somber it is. Rhiannon- Very mystical yet classic rock! I love the melodic keyboard and drums. Wait the harmonization in the chorus is so good! I Don't Want To Know- Love the guitar on this song, it's contagious.

Only 40 minutes long, but jam packed with amazing songs.

One of those albums it’s hard to say a bad word about. Somehow fun and mystic. Pop, folk, glam, rock. She’s one of a kind.

One of the greatest. I presume anyone that doesn't like this album is either trying to be edgy or has no understanding of songwriting, melody or harmony.

Not a bad song on the album. Masterpiece start to finish. A truly iconic and legendary album. Top 3 tracks off the album for me are Go Your Own Way, The Chain, and Gold Dust Woman. -Klep

*Track 7: The Chain* favourite track is a close tie between the chain, dreams, and you make loving fun. ultimately the chain has an amazing set of crescendos and decrescendos compared to the monotony of dreams. I knew both songs before but I’d never heard you make loving fun (great chorus) so the freshness of that put it into the close tie for first. The album contained a lot recognizable popular radio songs which made it easy to get familiar with quickly. love Stevie Nicks’ voice and the acoustic guitar especially the plucking. added like 4 of the songs into my rotation

This was a great album. So many hits and overall good songs. Dreams, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, Gold Dust Woman, and my personal favorite off this album Never Going Back Again, with some of the best acoustic guitar work I've heard

Easy 5/5

Each of these songs is like a swiftly moving train - self contained immovable objects. This album seems to have had multiple resurgences over the past couple decades, and it's easy to hear why. Well written songs, with only a couple that slow down the significant momentum. I have heard this album here and there, but I forgot how many classics are on it. Highly enjoyable listen.

Cocaine's a hell of a drug. And this is a hell of an album.

While the good tracks feel sorta overplayed, and this isn't my favorite Fleetwood Mac album (Tango in the Night), this is still incredible. First time I listened through the entire thing. I've never been a huge Fleetwood Mac fan, but I can't deny that this album is 40 minutes of pure pop perfection. Oh Daddy is the only dud on the album. 5 stars.

Could be my favourite album

This is a 5 star album, but songs like Songbird really slow it down for me. That said, the highs on here are some of the highest highs an albums can give. The making of this album is almost worth 5 stars on its own. One of the best examples for the peak cocaine fueled studio masterpiece era. Find me another album that can go from The Chain to You Make Loving Fun and it not feel jarring.

Obviously one of the all time greats.

Decade defining album. Every different flavour of 70s pop is in here and they still do it better than everyone else.

After a few bars of music play you know you're listening to Fleetwood Mac. The album sold over 10 million copies worldwide within a month of its release. They were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2017, it was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry, being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress. In 2020, Rumours was rated the seventh-greatest album of all time in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". Except for two tracks, everything else has over 100M plays on Spotify. The most popular song is track 2, “Dream” with over 1.2B plays. Given the turmoil within the band at the time, it’s a miracle the album came to fruition. What resulted was amazing from start to finish. Look. I'm about a week behind on albums. But today is my birthday, and this album pops up. It's like a divine gift from the 1001 Albums gods. And I'm not going to NOT accept that gift; I'm gonna skip right ahead to this album. It's always been interesting to me how Fleetwood Mac found most of its renown within the span of a few consecutive albums. They released so many albums, many of which were mostly forgettable, and then hit gold with just a handful of albums in the late 70s through the 80s, only to produce more forgettable albums shortly after that. And this album, their eleventh album, is probably the crown jewel of it all. This album just gets it all so very right. Nearly every single song on this album can be find on a Fleetwood Mac greatest hits album, and for good reason. The songs span rock, pop, folk, and many things in between. The album is cohesive, and yet each song stands completely on its own without the support of any of the others. The pacing of the album is excellent, as well, with perfectly timed highs and lows. "Second Hand News" and "Gold Dust Woman" are absolutely amazingly placed beginning and end caps, respectively. Each instrument can be heard clearly and offers a significant contribution. The harmonies and melodies are excellently executed. The lyrics, music, and production are all just very top notch. With Mick Fleetwood propping a foot up and holding Stevie Nicks' hand as she dances around in her flowing black outfit, even the album art in all of its simplicity just provides the perfect amount of intrigue; I can always picture it so clearly in my mind when I think of this album. Simply put, Rumours is excellent and timeless across the board. I've heard this album so many times, was still excited to get it on this project, and am now going to keep listening to it. This is just one of the best albums ever made, and the easiest 5 I will probably give on this project. Happy birthday to me!

5 provavelmente, é realmente muito díficil dizer, 4,5 talvez? É um álbum ótimo, todo background é realmente crazy, porém eu particularmente prefiro músicas animadas em que eu posso balançar a cabeça junto da música, então um álbum nota 5 seria desse tipo para mim. Isso não é possível em Rumours, porém, é bem compreensível o porque. Porém, praticamente todas as músicas, do começo ao fim são ótimas. (Dreams não é tão bom como todos pensam)

No album with The Chain, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way and Gold Dust Woman is going to get anything less than a Five star rating from me.

It doesn't make sense that a whole album can be this good and complete. Not only is every song great, they're all timeless classics. Entire A side is banger after banger until the melancholy intermission in songbird before B side is banger after banger. Hard to call an album perfect but this is really close. Masterpiece.

After 46 years may be coming around on Fleetwood Mac. So many hits on this one album.

Dang. This week I get Abbey Road followed by Rumours? Another masterpiece. I love Lindsay Buckingham's three songs - Second Hand News (my all-time Fleetwood Mac fave, pop brilliance), Never Going Back Again, and Go Your Own Way. The first two even more than the big hit. The guitar work is just so awesome and the sound just resonates (whether plucking or pulsating). All three are so energetic and fun. Stevie Nicks is at her ethereal best on Dreams and Gold Dust Woman - her voice is just so haunting and her lyrics are awesome. With help from Buckingham, her third song I Don't Want to Know is bursting with energy; great vibe. Christine McVie's songs dipped on Tusk but she brings it on Don't Stop (thanks to some help from Buckingham), Songbird (wow, powerful and beautiful), and You Make Loving Fun (song title says it all). Oh Daddy dips ever so slightly but it's pretty powerful too and now that I know the meaning behind the lyrics (Mick Fleetwood is daddy) it's pretty awesome. And I haven't even mentioned perhaps their greatest song, The Chain, a fierce collaborative effort (musically, lyrically, vocally) from all five (even John McVie gets his due here). This is an incredible album. One of the absolute best of all time.

Short but oh so lovely. I listened with cynicism, knowing it is a highly rated album (the highest?) but it is just perfect. Songbird had me welling up. There is variety and quality throughout. Wonderful, an easy five stars.

It's rumors

Suicide's debut from 1977 yesterday, and today Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, also from 1977. I love them both, and I love that this is possible. The Buckingham/Nicks songs everyone knows (well, everyone knows everything on this album, but the ones EVERYONE knows) are the big hits, while Christine McVie's stuff pushes it into the stratosphere. You Make Loving Fun and Songbird are just.... Only thing wrong with this album is it doesn't have Silver Springs on it, one of their very best songs. Swap it in for Oh Daddy. Also it starts with a fairly average rocker. But that's all forgotten from Dreams onwards. If I'm honest, not including Silver Springs is a crime so stupid it's worthy of losing a star, but I'm not going to be daft.

banger

12 tracks, and almost all of them are pop rock masterpieces. They have a distinctive cool western sound from their heavy incorporation of blues and bluegrass. It deserves its fame. Countless catchy and melodic hits, excellent production, and excellent instrumentation, from the clean twingly guitar to pounding drum beats to the dramatic vocalists who each have their own personalities. Only song I wasn't crazy about was the ballad "Songbird", but it's still pleasant on its own.

Still a banger of an album all the way through.

It's pretty much perfect, banger after banger, with something for everyone. It's not the most creative or groundbreaking album ever, but it is consistently fantastic, and likely to please everyone around you. Best suited for a garden party or bbq with family in good weather, something for everyone here. 18/05/23

Rock solid album, one of the best ever

I’ve been meaning to listen to this album for a while as Fleetwood Mac just seem like the band that’s impossible to hate, and o think after listening to Rumours I can safely say that has to be true because this is fantastic. Every song on here is as beautiful as the last and the whole album really embodies some soul. I also didn’t realise how many hits there were on this album such as “Don’t Stop” and “Go Your Own Way” in which both I’d heard before not realising they were made by Fleetwood Mac. Of course there’s also the gorgeous “Dreams” with a really smooth tempo and relaxed instrumental really letting the vocals stand out, similarly with “Never Going Back Again” the instrumental is pretty straightforward but it’s so pleasing to the ear. Would also like to point out the amazing “The Chain” which embody a real groove paired with dueting vocals and a really satisfying instrumental ending makes this song so perfect. It’s without mentioning but of course the rest of the songs are brilliant too. This album instantly feels like a classic when you listen to it I can’t praise it enough, definitely one of my favourite first listens on this list.

Nothing I could say hasn’t been said about this album. Perfection.

What can you say about an album that's almost universally loved. Listened to this over and over too at the time. Listening back now it's extremely pleasant with tremendously catchy tunes, perfect harmonies, guitar solos and a slight edge to the meaning behind the lyrics. Flawless.

I actually bought this on vinyl and listened to it this Monday. It’s an album made for vinyl. This is just the best album of all time.

I mean this one is such an obvious 5. This isn’t a style of music I normally seek out so I hadn’t listened to this album all the way through until today. I didn’t even know “don’t stop” was a Fleetwood Mac song. Every song on here is such well written, performed, and produced. A perfect listen for a spring day. Don’t need to say much about this one. Pretty much every song is a classic and it could be a greatest hits album for most other bands. The production still holds up and all the songs have really well constructed harmonies, instrumentation, and melodies. The moodier songs like dreams, gold dust woman, and the chain were my favorites this time around listening to the album and contrast some of the more pop sounding songs well. 👍: dreams, the chain, go your own way

Such a classic. Probably one of the most universally liked albums out there. We’re gonna break this thing down track by track. 1. Second hand news - one of the more upbeat tracks and a CERTIFED BANGER. Also a staple in my families line dances (iykyk). 2. Dreams - What more needs to be said about this song? TIMELESS. 3. Never going back - Underrated track. Leslie buckingham shows why he is HIM. Very cool and impressive fingerpicking pattern. 4. Don’t stop - CERTIFIED BANGER once again. One of the best choruses on the album., if not the best. Songs got a nice bounce to it. 5. Go your own way - Kind of cool how this song is written/sung by Leslie Buckingham about his breakup w stevie nicks while they’re both still in the band. And of course it’s another CERTIFIED BANGER. 6. Songbird - Slow things down about but solid songwriting here. Also I was playing this at work and one of my coworkers shared that she cries to this song. 7. The chain - that drum in the back just makes you want to stomp your foot. Harmonies are too good on this. Song builds up to the chorus so well. This chorus is also one of the top on the album. CERTIFIED BANGER. Also the outro is sick 8. You make loving fun - Underrated. Harmonies + instrumental during that chorus is magical. Vocals are just so soothing. 9. I don’t want to know - A little country twang w this one. It’s fun and it’s good 10. Oh daddy- Prob the weakest track to me. But it’s not bad. Let’s be clear in that there are no misses here 11. Gold dust woman- stevie nicks does her hippy vibes thing here again and it works. It always works. Pretty dope stuff here. Songwriting is split almost evenly between bucking ham, nicks and mcvie. Heard before: All Favorites: dreams, go your own way, the chain, you make loving fun. The hard fought MMM today goes to: IF YOU DONT LOVE ME KNOW YOU WILL NEVER LOVE ME AGAIN I CAN STILL HERE YOU SAYING YOU WILL NEVER BREAK THE CHAIN.

So many incredible, all-time hits on this album as well as some that should've been.

For first few songs I thought it's gonna be a simple but next level kind of album, but no... It is just next level.

An absolute classic of a record with some instantly recognisable tracks and a couple I didn't really know. While it's mostly a bit softer and more pop-infused than the kind of rock music I usually most like, this is just an undisputed classic. Amazing vocals, harmonies, riffs, just a brilliant timeless classic of an album. And of course, for me The Chain will always be associated with Formula 1 - It may be impossible not to step on the gas when the outro kicks in. Favourite: The Chain

A few weak songs, but it inspired to finally learn the finger picking on never going back again, so 5

This is an easy 5 star album. Every song is great, but that’s half the story. There’s also the multiple storylines of the band members colliding on this album. At a time where the band were the most dysfunctional, ost would have broken up by then. Instead they made one of the greatest albums of all time.

Home to one of the biggest diss tracks of all time, this album is a testament to the professionalism and sheer audacity of the band members. To loathe each other so much and still put out one of the most iconic albums of all time is mindblowing.

Damn good soft rock. Hell, the best soft rock album out there, bar none. It also benefits from some of the greatest production quality of any album ever made. Even the cheap CD on a 2001 car stereo sounds clean as hell. I can't say anything more about this album that hasn't already been said. Just listen to it. I've listened to this album 100s of times

This is great music that gets white people turnt. It may be overplayed, or even overrated, but you can't argue that the bangers keep coming and they don't stop coming. This feels like a greatest hits album, something here everyone would enjoy.

One of the strongest 5/5s I can possible give. This album has potentially one of the greatest stretches of songs in history, with Dreams going into Never Going Back Again into Don’t Stop into Go Your Own Way. One of the best albums of all time for sure.

Great. I can see why everyone likes this album.

Not much else that can be said about this album. The production is great and the songs are all classics. The weakest song on the album is "Oh Daddy" but it's still a good song. Imagine if "Silver Springs" had replaced "Oh Daddy."

This is an old very comfortable sweater that feels good every time you wear it. The honesty of the emotions reflects what was happening for the band members and made for a great album.

I guess in the end is this an album that's list worthy and even though I haven't heard this album in years I knew almost every damn song like they're imprinted on my brain and they're pretty much all good with Second hand News, Dreams and The Chain being the best

Oh Daddy is the black sheep in this otherwise perfect album.

Nearly half powerhouse pop icons - Dreams, Don't Stop, The Chain, You Make Loving Fun, and my personal top pick, (though Dreams beat it in the court of public opinion), Go Your Own Way. And really nothing weak supporting those gems. All boiling out of the cauldron of one of the most canonical examples of rock band-"family" dysfunction ever. Masterpiece.

Beautiful: a masterpiece in every song!

Had never listened to this as an album before, but put it on and was amazed at how many of the songs that I recognised. I don't think it's as high a 5 as some we've had previously, it's maybe a little too middle of the road for that in places, but there are so many good tracks on this that you'd be a fool to give it anything less.

What can you say about this album? Only that I noticed that Second Hand News is false start: a fine song but from another album. But from Dreams on in its pure 70s fm rock magic all the way.

If there ever was a 5-star worth album on this list, this would be it. Every song is a hit. Well recorded, meaningful lyrics, different textures but all pleasing. Take my 5.

Classic

It's not the easiest album to rate for me. As a general principle, I'm not the fan of the soft rock ballad-like songs, it's like listening to IKEA of music - everything is looking nice and simple, but also incredibly boring and bland. But Fleetwood Mac has to be an exception here. Their "Rumours" is an album filled with all-time hits and few of the most recognisable melodies and tunes ever. Especially nowadays, with the tiktoks or Instagram, those melodies are ingrained into minds of everyone. There is no denying, that the guitar melodies, together with different types of soft sounded vocals in this case is a recipe for success. "Dreams", "Second Hand News", "Go Your Own Way" and "Don't Stop" are basically the gold standard of singles and hits for many years to come (and have been for the last 50 years). Even though, I think my favourite song was "Gold Dust Woman". Amazing outro, small guitar solos, and absolutely beautiful vocal. Well, after consideration, maybe it's not that hard to rate this album.

You make loving fun slaps

So many great songs... Such a striking album, so catchy, timeless, heartfelt and moving... Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham were at the apex of their abilities as a songwriting team in 1977. *Tusk*, released a few years later, was great, too, by the way. But that story is for another time, kiddies... Now who can be surprised that *Rumours* is number two in the app's global stats? Honestly, I would have been, a decade earlier. But I'm still way too young to remember this albums's commercial success when it was released, so I needed to discover it on my own terms first, just like a lot of other people. I'm glad that I did now, obviously... So each track is a small masterpiece, but the one tune that actually convinced me *Rumours*'s reputation was deserved is "The Chain". It chords changes get me every time. Learning that the song actually depicted all the drama and personal stuff going on behind the scenes is just cream on the cake here. Since I'm evoking biographical elements here... Rest In peace, Christine McVie. Recent news in 2022 have been a hard blow for music fans all over the world. And let me use the occasion to *also* pay homage to Mimi Parker from Low, criminally absent from Dimery's book. Here was another insanely talented musician who deceased this year, and she deserves as much a tribute as Christine McVie does. Those two women had so much talent, and their voices could send you to heaven. Now that Parker and McVie are in the latter, angels there will probably take some notes for their own choirs, at least... Album left to review: more than 700. Keepers: half so far, approximately (including this one) Potential keepers: a quarter. Stinkers: another quarter.

Nicks/Buckingham really propelled them to such great heights. Probably top 5 in their discography Second Hand News- awesome opener Dreams - stevie nicks perfection, the bass is iconic and this being their only number 1 single is a crime but we move Go Your Own Way - i love when talented couples write about one another on the album Don't Stop - upbeat banger The Chain - this is what music was created to DOOOO You Make Loving Fun - rip Christine mcvie, you ate on this masterpiece I love the theme of gossip, chisme, turmoil and love, it just makes the lyrics seem more spiteful, the playing more enticing, the wordplay is as enticing as the production and they put their whole MACK into the instrumentals.

One of the goats

Finally something more recognisable Stonking album.

Rumours is possibly the greatest pop album of all time. From the moment the album begins to the moment it ends, the listener is treated to some of the greatest melodies in the popular music canon. The musicianship is phenomenal especially Lindsay Buckingham‘s guitar work. Lyrically, this album is famously written in the midst of infidelity and the disintegration of relationships. The result is a tumultuous album full of longing and regret. It is absolutely masterful in every way.

This album obviously needs no introduction and definitely deserves a 5 but honestly it's starting to feel overplayed. I used to love Don't Stop and go your own way but now I'm just like eh. Dreams and the chain are still bangers though.

Don't stop me, because I'm going to write this review without listening to the album (again). It may come as second hand news to you. You can go your own way, but I'm never going back again. We all have dreams, and mine is to find a songbird, a gold dust woman, who will make loving fun.

Pretty ridonkulous. There isn't any filler on this album (okay, maybe Oh Daddy....), everything has beautiful texture and passionate voices. The harmonies are wonderful. Just an amazing album, start to finish.

A truly stacked album, I understand now why the hype surrounds this album. It is tight and potent with a stellar diversity of sound.

92/100: Feeling absolutely blessed that the album generator gave me this album today. This is the single easiest album to listen to. Music shouldn't be effort to listen to, when you find an artist or an album you like and appreciate, that effort is lifted. It doesn't feel like you're trying your best to make it through the album—the songs just drift between your ears and time accelerates. It can be hard, though, to find an artist that creates this experience. The msot beautiful part of "Rumours," in my mind, is that this album achieves that experience for everyone—and I mean everyone. You could listen to exclusively soul, or only listen to Toby Kieth, or refuse to lsiten to any artist other than Kanye West, it doesn't matter. You will love this album. It will be easy to listen to. It's as if Fleetwood Mac tapped into the universality of music. This album has a clear sound and genre, but it's so good that listeners of all genres will appreciate it. I genuinely can't think of another album that I feel I could confidently claim everyone who listens to it will like it. Pink Floyd's "The Wall" is a masterpiece; however, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it wasn't someone's cup of tea. Kendrick Lamar's "To Pimp a Butterfly" is a stroke of genius and one of the best albums ever released, but, again, not everyone who listens to it will appreciate it. "Rumours" is a masterpiece and I guarantee you everyone who has ever lsitened to it has enjoyed it.

Of course it's a masterpiece. Quite possibly the best pop rock record. The sequencing and production are faultless, not to mention the tunes are killer, plus the writing is rewarding, which is always a pleasant surprise for 70s music. An essential record.

Really cool album with the most famous songs. Really enjoyable and creates a very mellow and relaxed atmosphere.

5/5. As many times as I’ve listened to this album, it still surprises me how catchy and well made these songs are. And knowing the tension between the band members, the songs become that much more powerful.

The best thing cocaine has created

Track 1: Nice and driving rhythmically, and percussive both in beat and vocal timbre. Upbeat and positive song that feels like a road trip. Reminds me a bit of Cecilia by S&G Track 2: Very pretty guitar work that tends to float/drift above the rest of the backing track. Spooky and mystical sound. Guitar effects give dreamlike steelguitar sound. Great harmonies on the chorus. The buildup to the chorus has the incredible cymbal crash on beat 2 which melts me. Very tight drumming on this. Track 3: one of my favorite tracks. Very complex fingerpicking guitar work throughout keeping the beat and rhythm without any other instruments. Great vocal melody that accompanies the guitar melody well. Feels like going on a hike or camping. Track 4: Great up-beat piano driven melody. Very forward thinking and positive both musically and lyrically. Guitar solo was well placed and quick with good links. Ends perfectly as the melody is quite repetitive. Track 5: Great acoustic guitar work and strum pattern with electric rhythm in the back. Feels like you're on a mountain top. Song pushes and pulls with each verse headed towards the chorus. Lyrically stresses the importance of independence and freedom. 1st Guitar solo section is a bit lackluster but has cool distortion. 2nd Guitar solo absolutely kills it and drives to a killer climax of the song. Track 6: Beautiful slow piano ballad. The vocals are absolutely stunning and the high notes are hit really well. Soft and restrained vocals, feels like the vocals could give more edge but are holding off. The rises and falls of the vocals are a bit repetitive and somewhat annoying at times but don't cease to be very pretty. Track 7: badass intro guitarwork feels like a cowboy slowly into a dusty town. The harmonies are perfect on this track. The funky driving baseline in the chorus is great. Chorus vocals are great and have awesome emotional edge. This song is retaliatory. You can feel the anger of the singer. OH MY LORD THE SEXIEST BASSLINE IN ROCK. GIVE ME THAT LOW NOTE. guitar solo soars at the end and matches the songs ferocity along with the ending vocals edge. Track 8: Funky bassline and start. Awesome clavicord backing track throughout. Wow vocals are lofty and pretty with those high notes. Very nice solo section with well placed solo and nice links. Swirling backing harmonies. Tight drumming on this track. Ending guitar solo is nice. Lackluster fade to finish. Track 9: Bright and crisp intro acoustic guitar. Great 2 part vocals right off the rip. Great tight drumming. Oh man I hear claps in the background. Nice. Chorus is very tight with the mix up drums with the 3 on 4. Gets a little repetitive. Very solid guitar solo and very clean tone. Track 10: very mysterious and swirling instrumentation. I love the flutey keyboard sound in the back. Daddy issues much? Very nice lingering low piano key hit is a nice effect. Incredible acoustic guitarwork with pretty harmonics. Great fading organs/keys. Track 11: Nice clockwork percussion. Woah a little wah wah pedal guitar? Or just nice dreamy effects and reverb. Pretty chorus harmonies. Still very mysterious. Nice decrescendo to get a bit softer. Would've like a bit more drumming on this track, a bit lacking on the drums. Singer really has some emotion in her voice. Wow awesome guitar effects that sounds like screaming or a dog crying.... goosebumps. All in all, a great no-skip album with incredible instrumentation, and a beautifully emotional story to tell.

Rumors is a classic in every aspect. The singing between stevie nicks and lyndsey Buckingham somehow compliment the band really well in a tale of relationships and betrayal. This album spawned countless singles like dreams, the chain, or go your own way. However I also really enjoy the deep cuts here (Songbird, never going back again, you make loving fun). Overall a classic with a sound that stays timeless and does not feel dated 45 years later.

This is honestly one of the best albums ever written. An all time great.

After listening to this album since I was a kid, I have come to believe the best version ends with “Silver Springs”, a song I was unfamiliar with until recently because it wasn’t on either of the two Rumours CDs in my house. (I’m sure I have multiple copies of DSOTM and Graceland too) September 20th, 2022

This album has everything. Beautiful music. A sordid and compelling series of backstories. And little moments (like Stevie’s barely-audible hum at the very beginning of Dreams) that give me chills. One of the great works of modern musicianship. I adore it. Gold Dust Woman is an underrated gem.

It is difficult for me to think of reasons to dislike this album. It's so finely crafted, from the meticulous production work to the excellent songwriting. Fleetwood Mac was somehow able to come together in a maelstrom of interpersonal issues to make one of the greatest albums of all time. It's unforgettable. Even at the album's weakest, the songs are beautiful and delivered with such emotion that it's impossible for me not to love it genuinely. My favorite song is easily The Chain for it's dynamic structure and hard-hitting chorus of layered vocals that drive home the thematic gravity of "we must never break the chain". I'll always have a soft spot for Don't Stop though, as it is closely intertwined with the music of my formative years. There's no other way to say it: Rumours is a perfect album.
