So watery When i first went through Radioheads discography i hated this album it was just to wacky for me, But now a few years later i learned to like its uniqueness, i still find it fresh and new
Good
BLEEPS AND BLOOPS
Groundbreaking but not the most relaxing or just pure enjoyment album to listen to. More for when you’re in an RC fart mood.
Big surprise, I like this. The Rhodes in the first track is just perfect. The last half of National Anthem I HATE. It's just noise. There are other songs I really like, like Idioteque and Morning Bell, but the rest kind of falls into some experimental ambient jazzy thing. I think what I like most about it is the mood. It's got this contemplative but melancholy angst that just hits the right places.
Classic album, always good, but this run through I found it a little boring.
Una grata sorpresa, ecléctica y placentera
A great album that no one would expect from a mainstream band. Not my favourite from them, but still high up.
3.7/5 Best Track: Everything in it's Right Place
Radiohead is a jam band?
Very unique album. A bit intense but very good
This is good, but not as good as some other Radiohead albums, so if I were to put on a Radiohead album this one probably won't be it. But occasionally, to mix it up, it might be.
Me quedo con Morning Bell
los amoooo 8.5/10
All tracks before Treefingers: Fallen out of favor for or never clicked for me. All tracks after Treefingers: Some of the greatest Radiohead songs ever.
You CAN take the Radiohead out of the whiteboy
Awesome
A lot more music than voice but it isn't bad
Wouldn't say it's their best album but is still fantastic. Whilst it is different to previous albums I feel like you know what to expect with Radiohead and this just proves that this is not a bad thing. Best Song - Idioteque
My idiot brain always confuses Radiohead and Motorhead. I saw the album and didn't want to start my Monday listening to what I thought would be heavy metal. Nice surprise! I had to make a note to add Treefingers to my Liked Songs playlist.
Classic. Nice blend of the avant garde work developed by Aphex Twin and the Popular Rock of Blur and Oasis.
1: Everything In It's Right Place: The album kicks off with a... a song that definitely exists. This song was definitely made by Radiohead. I don't think this song is bad, but I cannot in good conscience say I liked it. 5/10 2: Kid A: The title track of the album follows in the firsts songs footsteps. More droning tones makes me fearful for the rest of the album. I feel the same about this one as I felt for track one. There are some good parts in this one, but nothing that makes me want to listen to it again. 5/10 3: The National Anthem: Three tracks into the album and I think this is the first song that actually has a guitar on it. This song has brass, drums and everything. The song grooves and sounds very good, the lyrics take a backseat to the instrumentals, but the instrumentals are actually good on this track. This is the first track on the album I actually enjoyed. 8/10 4: How To Dissapear Completely: This song has an interesting feeling that I do not know if I can describe. It feels ethereal. It's a good composition. 7/10 5: Treefingers: This song is an instrumental interlude between two songs. It is 3 minutes long. It is on the Album Kid A. It has notes. It has nothing for me to talk about 5/10 6: Optimistic: The guitar has returned. I am happy about this. It sounds good here. This song is honestly very good. It is my favorite song on the album so far. It actually feels like a song I would put into a playlist. This song actually kind of got a few tears welling up into my eyes. Capitalism sucks. 7/10 ~~But actually it's a negative ten billion out of ten since it references animal farm and I hate that book~~ 6: In Limbo: Another song that is just kind of making me cry a small bit. I can tell that's what it's trying to do, so I'll give it props for achieving what's it's going for. The song also sounds very good. 7/10 7: Idioteque: Making heavy use of synthesizers and sampling. This song is about Nuclear War, Global Warming, and a general fear of technology, which the synthesizers help build towards the feeling of suffocation by technology. 7/10 8: Morning Bell: This song is heavily theorized to be about ~~Dougdougs twitch chat~~ Divorce. All the lyrics in this song feel high-pitched and wrong, which I feel is supposed to add to the somewhat unnerving atmosphere of this song. This song feels almost unsafe, which makes sense because the song was written with a ghost in the house when it was written. 8/10, feels just as unsafe as it should. 8: Motion Picture Soundtrack: This song starts off with an Organ, which I like. This song is an incredibly depressing song about a breakup. This song has arpeggios I'm pretty sure, and those sound nice. 7/10 8: Untitled: This one gives me a headache and feels like it has no purpose. 0/10 Overall: A good and enjoyable album if you can get past the admittedly slow start, (and also stop the album at track 8) 7/10 Highlights: National Anthem, Morning Bell Lowlights: Untitled.
Solid bass and drums, dreamlike electronica and vocals, frenetic horns…. Nice intro to new band for me. Check out National Anthem, Optimistic and Idioteque tracks.
I had a love hate relationship with the opening few songs, which were instrumentally unique but difficult to contextualize. The album overall is extremely melancholy, emotional, and interesting to dissect. Anything I didn’t enjoy was made up for by its beauty in other places, as well as it’s honesty and rawness. (Also sounded not unlike Coldplay in a few places)
Best Songs: National Anthem, How to Disappear Completely Listen Again: Yes
Full review TBA Highlights: The National Anthem, Optimistic, Idioteque, Morning Bell.
I'm generally a decently large fan of Radiohead. This is an interesting record and I haven't listened to it as much previously as I probably should have. They've got interesting musical ideas and do a good job capturing them in the studio.
I'm a bit torn on this one. I feel like I should like it more, and musically there’s a lot to appreciate... but it might be too experimental for my taste. It drags in places but there are several really solid tracks.
Good? Great? Mind Blowing? I don't know. Maybe if I listen to it 100 more times I will like it more
An album I didn’t hear a lot when it was new, but it pervaded the culture. It’s a testament to their taste and style that 20 years later it still sounds completely modern. A truly great track 1 too
This album is definitely one of the more out there Radiohead albums and there is a LOT to love about it, Everything In Its Right Place is so cool with the descending synth intro and How To Disappear Completely wrecks me, but man, Treefingers is tough to get through. If it were shorter, sure but a little drony... Idioteque is fun as heck though.
I've listened to this multiple times. Sometimes I think it's genius, sometimes I think it's awful. It depends on the mood of the listener I suppose. You cannot fault what they tried to do with this complete departure from OK computer.
Apologies to The Bends. I would have said this was their 3rd best album from memory. The Bends is superior. 86/100
Cool album, I knew most of the actual songs but not the ambiance stuff in between. Cool sound and can really see what they were going for. Overall though, I have other Radiohead I like more.
Very good album.
I can appreciate it but I somehow don't really want to listen to radio head too often. Low 4s
GOOD ALBUM
Besides Creep and Karma Police, I'm not aware of any Radiohead songs I've listened to, so I'm really glad to finally listen to them. I appreciated the attention to detail and immersive, psychedelic soundscape that many songs had; it felt like a balance between abstract/experimental/unstructured art-rock and mainstream alternative that prioritized listenability. I found some moments to be drawn out longer than I would have liked, and some elements (certain percussion, vocal lines) would be a little too repetitive or prominent. I could pick out my favorite parts in each song, which helped keep my attention through the not-too-long runtime. 7.5/10
Phenomenal, masterpiece. Loved it.
Uz je to tu :D
Great album
This was interesting I think I would listen again just so I can take in the concept better.
It was an awesome experience, almost like a movie. It feels crazy to believe that this was made in the 2000s. My favorites are "Everything In Its Right Place", "The National Anthem", "How to Disappear Completely" and "Optimistic". That being said, I do feel like some of the stuff is not for me, but it is still an amazing album.
A great move into rhythmic ambient from OK Computer.
Before I started this project, the only Radiohead album I'd ever listened to was A Moon Shaped Pool. A few weeks ago, I was assigned The Bends, which I absolutely loved. Reading about this album, I knew that it would be nothing like The Bends, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. Kid A was definitely a far cry from The Bends, but I still enjoyed listening to it. The synth arrangements were really beautiful, as were the string arrangements. Thom Yorke's vocals were fantastic here as well. Even though I liked this album and I thought it sounded great, I don't think it's something I'll revisit. I enjoy the use of synthesizers, but for some reason, this just didn't register as much with me.
Absolutely LOVED this album. Hadn't listened to a lot of Radiohead prior to this outside of big hits. It was suggestive and provided a really solid beat, but didn't command my attention with aggressive lyrics or in-your-face riffs. It's just incredibly solid music and I can see why this is considered an influential album. Additionally, Tidal recommended some great music after this album that I loved - all turned out to be either Radiohead or solo stuff from members of the band - all of which were really great to try out.
Beautiful and haunting. Odd and intimidating yet accessible and strangely familiar. Have I heard this before? Where? Did I dream it? Brilliant 4.5/5
Some good bits. Introduced electronic music to millions of chavs.
Remember when Radiohead made songs like "Creep"?
Nearly perfect and captures it's time so well.
Is this the one that predicted 9/11? Or is that every Radiohead album? Once you hear about that theory, it's sort of impossible not to think about while listening to it. "Everything In Its Right Place" is maybe Radiohead's greatest moment, and I'm OK with Cameron Crowe using it in Vanilla Sky while Tom Cruise runs through an empty Times Square. The album is extraordinary as a whole.
Cool blending of sounds, I didn't know it but I do like the sounds some ambient, electronic, and live instruments.
not my favorite radiohead album, but undeniably spectactular. id go closer to a 4.5
Much more chill than I expected! I really liked it!
Calm but somewhat anxious sound, can be a bit boring but is mostly enjoyable. Favorite tracks: Everything In It’s Right Place, Idioteque
I don't give this album enough spins: my Radiohead go-tos are In Rainbows and OK Computer. There might be a little too much variety here for consistent listens (some epic bangers, but also a little too much ambient music at the same time).
Loved everything but the title track oddly enough
Atmospheric. Each song as unique as the days of our lives.
Liked it
Great experience. The songs have consistency and feel like one big 47 minute project, the melodies and harmonies are amazing and it has some really good individual tracks as well. (82%)
I like this album, but probably only because I grew up with it. Really depressing at times.
I don’t know what I thought Radiohead was but this is much different from what I imagined.
Great stuff
Everything In its right place and Optimistic are highlights for me. Not a huge radiohead fan so im ill informed but I'm pretty sure there are albums much better than this? Which makes me excited for those other because this is already phenomenal.
- More Radiohead for ya ;) - Not 100% sure how to react to this album its such a bold change in sound - Very minimal guitar makes the moments where it shines through very special - This is definitely one that requires more listens to get - Production is very good, very ambient listening
Not much to say about this one except for the fact I've been getting into Radiohead's music more over the last year, and I love this album
Like being hugged by the depression kitty from Big Mouth.
Not my favorite Radiohead, but this is still a great album. My favorite songs are definitely "Optimistic," "Morning Bell," and "Motion Picture Soundtrack." I totally understand why this is on the list. It's a fantastic album even if I prefer some of their others.
Crazy sound, the way they make random electronic sounds come together as music is unique. The addition of powerful bass give the whole thing more depth and Tom’s vocals are just artsy and beautiful. Must listen to this album while tripping.
I’m feeling quite low today so this fit perfectly. Love the cacophony vibes!
first track was greattttt
Such a great listen. Headphones material.
Have this album. Really like it.
I prefer ok computer and in rainbows but this is still great.
Definitely an improvement over the other Radiohead album I’ve gotten so far on this generator (hail to the thief), but not by a whole lot. I’d probably give this 3.5 stars if I could.
Grotesque to its limits. Feels like banging your head to a wall hard enough.
Comments: Kinda weird and not too Radiohead-y to begin. It definitely feels like I've been transported into the future for a lot of the tracks. Compared to some of the other Radiohead albums I listened to (Rainbows, OK Computer, Pablo Honey), I like this one the most from them. It sounds mostly experimental to me and I think it works. Some of the songs had really good bass to it. Lyrics are alright, meaningful to some. A weird distorted mess at times, but it goes with the vibe so I don't think it's a bad thing. Favorite Song: #6 Optimistic Recommend?: I think it's worth a listen even if you don't usually like Radiohead. It's a 3-4 star for me.
A cosy nostalgic blanket
Better than I remember, not really a one off listen to enjoy.
I believe this is Radiohead's best example of electronic-sound-forward songwriting. Their early albums will always reign supreme to me, as an alt-rock fan of the 90s, but Kid A was a not unwelcome departure from that old sound. It's not often that an electronic album can captivate me from beginning to end; this is one of them.
Better than I remembered, but still not on same level as In Rainbows, OK Computer, the Bends.
i have listened to this album previously, first time this has happened so far. how to disappear completely is outrageously amazing, optimistic is really good, rest is also good. outstanding album overall, do not understand any of its negative initial reception given the existence of how to disappear. though granted it took me many listens to hold an opinion so high of this album.
3.5/5
Radiohead's foray into ambient/electronic infused art rock is pulled off so well on this album. After hearing Aphex Twin through this list I now absolutely can appreciate the influence on this record on so many of the songs, which are simple and just experiment with atmosphere and texture. 8/10
Enjoyable to listen to, laid back alternative album
Quite like this album
Some absolutely beautiful songs
Cat: It’s gritty and weird and smart and emotional and I love it. I love how experimental it is without being “weird for the sake of weird”. It’s creative. Thom Yorke’s voice is eerie and beautiful.
Ranging from emotionally melancholy, dream-like, deep & immersive soundscapes to an energetic and chaotic flurry of soulful sound. Transportive and brilliant.
typisk radiohead
Definitely a Radiohead album I like less. Still, it has some great highs. Everything In Its Right Place, How To Disappear Completely and Optimistic I really love. 8 out of 10
Never boring, restless, thoughtful, clever. Kid A is a great album, especially after the smash that was ok computer. Opening and title tracks are magnificent. The rest is solid. Check punch bros cover of the opener. I feel this has settled into the place where it should be. 4 stars
Not sure about this after only one listen. I think this is a multi-listen album to truly get it. Interesting soundscapes on this. I am going to give this a 4 because I think it has potential after more listens.
One of those albums that still sounds a tiny bit futuristic despite being a couple decades old. Definitely a huge left turn in Radiohead’s career and rock as a whole. No 5th star due to Thom Yorke’s whiny vocals draining out the music.
4,5
It took me a few listens, but I did like this. Very different to anything else I’ve really listened to. Fav tracks: Everything In Its Right Place, Optimistic, Motion Picture Soundtrack
Best moment on the album is the midpoint of The National Anthem which then leads to all the instruments coming in on top of each other and soloing. It's definitely a grower and i'd find it hard to hum along to, but its brilliant. Not too long, good songs all throughout
Brings me back to my middle school days
For some reason I, a rock-nerd, never got much into Radiohead. The suggestion was therefore very welcome. I did enjoy this album and its many ideas with its different sounds. I listend to earlier Radiohead stuff after that. And I liked it! That Thom Yorke's vocals are often distorted helps because they often really put me off. I enjoyed the jazzy elements as well.
Own on Vinyl
I had a strange relationship with Radiohead. I had a taped copy of Pablo Honey which I listened to a few times and didn't think much of. Then I remember seeing High and Dry, a single released ahead of the album, on MTV and hating it. My mind at the time said this is overproduced try-hard rubbish. (By way of explanation I was mostly listening to Pavement) at the time. By the time OK Computer had come out, however, I'd gone to Uni and started listening to Pink Floyd. It was a perfect album to sell me at the time. So where did that leave Kid A? I never listened to it. At all. The fact it even got released passed me by. The next time I noticed Radiohead they'd suddenly become seemingly the biggest band in the world. And I never really regained Radiohead. OK Computer is still one of my favourite albums ever but I've spent almost zero time listening to anything after that. I'm assuming there'll be a lot of it on here, it's that kind of list. This album, listening to it now? It's very of it's time, isn't it? Maybe it felt like the future of music then. There's some tunes. Some of it sounds like the same band who made OK Computer. Much of the music seemed to be intentionally discarding anything which could be thought of as Alternative Rock or Indie Rock or whatever. I get that. Thom Yorke has the love/hate relationship with fame that so many great artists have. Scores? I've written more about this album than almost any other (although, I've really written about me). There's no doubting it's a great piece of work. There's no doubting I'll listen to it again. There's nothing in there which has impact on me to even consider giving it 5. It's almost a textbook 4 for my scoring.
Sometimes a little too experimental but the album had a lot of good songs.
I'm loving this so far. It feels like a fall day.
pretty epic
Fantastic album. Love it
Through this project, I've learned that I like Radiohead more than I thought I did. Best track: Idioteque
Atmospheric and interesting - like being at MoMA but through your ears. Maybe because I was working while listening to it but it is just ya know an album. I understand its significance but can't say I just absolutely loved it. I've always wanted to sit down and listen.... maybe I need to dedicate everything to intently listen. But casually this is just 4 stars (more like 3.5). Still a lot of interesting ideas.
Have already heard, maybe need a relisten but didn’t have time. It’s good and respectable, not my favorite Radiohead album. 3.5/5
After the amazing OK Computer, Radiohead decided to take things into new directions and experiment with a range of styles. As such, some experiments may have been more or less successful than others. This album does have a few low points that drag it down and were frankly hard to listen to such as The National Anthem (how fitting) and Idoteque. Most of the album, however, is very good.
I like about half of the songs on this album. Some of the electronic heavy tracks lose me. Radiohead is one of my favorite bands though so it wasn't unbearable
Favorite song: The National Anthem
Great peice of music, doesnt grab me as much as their other work.
I like this album, but there are some songs that I skip every time. This is especially true in the back half. But it’s still solid.
My only year at uni studying art history was brought to you by Kid A and Mr Sub
I feel like I need to give this one more time to really understand it. The hype around this album is very unreal and while I can see why for certain spots, there are definitely somethings on here that aren't fully clicking with me yet.
Not the best Radiohead but this one continues to grow on me.
1 mars 2023 Le matin Tu déjeuner, ta pris le bus Nice mood
Yes
“Noise.” - My girlfriend. I appreciate how this album focuses on atmosphere and feeling. It feels deliberately unfinished yet still maintains the polish I would expect from Radiohead. It gives me Clap Your Hands Say Yeah vibes.
Reading the Wikipedia page for "Kid A," 23 years after the album's release, is exciting because it's pretty clear how it is to be underground and how things have changed over these two decades. It influenced a lot of things in music, the music industry, and the different manners to deal with the increasing technology. I'm still not very into this electronic phase of the band, but it's impossible not to see how it was essential. On a side note: Is this list created to go along with Beatles and Radiohead discography intercalated with some other stuff, right? (I'm not complaining) :-P
It's Radiohead, it's great. I prefer Ok Computer and The Bends though.
Not as good as OK Computer, In Rainbows or Moon Shaped Pool - but still cracking.
This one is as hard to review as it is to describe. It moves from Eno-like warm ambience to moody, downtempo pop. About half is forgettable, but the other half is good enough to make it a commendable album.
I can't say anything here that hasn't been said better by other people before. This album is full of subtle sounds, incredibly atmospheric, it needs headphones and a couple dozens of listens to hear it all. It's a marvel if you give it the time
Good, not great Weird
Gut und chillig
good, would listen again
Dig this much more now than the first time i heard it in year 2000
I respect artists who try experimental work, even if they don’t always pan out. How To Disappear Completely is without a doubt in my mind the best song on the album. This may sound pretentious, but the song knows what it is. It is a song with a purpose while I feel others on the album are unfinished jam sessions. The general idea and concept, I believe, they have down, but the final product was a little too bare. Overall, though, it is a great album and I enjoyed listening, but it could have been better. 4/5
Great to run to
Very cool exploration in a different direction for Radiohead with a good deal more electronic music appearing on this album. Still great attention given to the peaks and valleys that make their performances so compelling.
not the greatest album ever but pretty good
it’s definitely a close your eyes, turn off the lights, and just lay down album so it probably didn’t help that i was doing work while listening but regardless i can appreciate what radiohead accomplished with this album. it’s not necessarily something i’ll be listening to every single day of my life for the rest of my life but i can see the appeal and the critical acclaim. my favorite songs off of it are: Everything In Its Right Place, How to Disappear Completely, Idioteque, Morning Bell, Motion Picture Soundtrack, and Untiled (because, although short, it made me open my eyes wide because it felt angelic istg)
Everything in Its Right Place: Som krydderhylla :)) Hva skjer med teksten "Yesterday, I woke up sucking a lemon"?? haha hva i alle dager betyr det?? Kid A: Dystre greier. "The rats and the children follow me out of town". Krigsflyktninger? Denne havner fort på vaskemusikk-lista How to Disappear Completely: Frysninger. hver. gang. Treefingers: Yoga vibes? Optimistic: Ditt beste er godt nok! In Limbo: En vond drøm. "I'm lost at sea" - meg i sjøforsvaret Idioteque: Ikke helt min greie nei. Igjen er teksten preget av krig- "Women and children first". Mange ulike lag med perkusjon her. Eksperimentelt Morning Bell: Motion Picture Soundtrack: Veldig fin, nesten som en drøm.
Enjoyed the music. It was experimental without being too far out there. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I especially enjoyed How to Disappear Completely and Optimistic. I really disliked the song idioteque
Ah, the albums that Radiohead changed tack. Its an important album but I hardly listen to it so here goes. Its jarring at times but its a powerful experience that was later distilled into brilliance. It's the sound of a band shedding its skin. I'm glad that its wasn't a double as Amnesiac was all recorded at the same time as Kid A. 4
Great experemental album. Radiohead took a step to change their genre
Good, but in my opinion not as good as some of the other Radiohead albums I've heard. My fav tracks are Idioteque and the instrumental Treefingers.
I really have to be I the right frame of mind to listen to ANY Radiohead, let alone THIS record. Today, fortunately, I must have been in the right frame of mind and the album clicked. This is a rare occurrence so take the rating with that in mind.
This is a fantastic album. Radiohead is rightfully a modern legend in rock and electronic music. It is innovative and intense. Out of there most profound albums this one is my least favorite. Somber oversees the glitchy wavering Yorke vocals. It is a tight album and worthy of being at the top of Radioheads best of’s. I like how large and sweeping it is. I like that its unified in tone and color. I want it to rock more. I want it to go in to rainbows and be okay as a computer. It is a gorgeous album, lush and, simultaneously, sparse. Peep game bruv.
“Kid A” always feels like a chilly winter day to me, clear blue sky, bright sunlight, but almost no people out there in the frozen landscape.
I'm throwing out too many 5 stars ratings and this isn't my favourite Radiohead cover so it will receive a harsh 4. Hard to recreate the feeling of listening to this album anywhere else. Like a dystopian rave inside a large can.
Interesting album, the first few songs didn't buy me but then it got much better. Saved tracks: National Anthem, How To Disappear Completely, Optimistic, Idioteque, Untitled, Motion Picture Soundtrack
relaxing
Everything: elpiano är ju dunder, kul modus, toppenlåt! Kid A: bra trummor, väldigt 2000tal inte jättebra låt National anthem: bra ljudbild! Bra blås! Bra låt!! How to: Jättemycket ångestlåt! Jobbig att lyssna på, men bra! Treefingers:👍 Optimistic: bra början, tappar lite In limbo: lite mellanmjölk Idioteque:skitbra ju Morning Bell: lite intetsägande?
The transitional album from the band. Great but not perfect.
Very enjoyable
Cold and rainy run
An album I like but don’t love. I remember in the mid 2000s feeling like I should love this album and was listening to it on repeat. Eventually it sort of clicked for me and I understood what they were trying to do. But The Bends, OK Computer and In Rainbows are still my top Radiohead albums. If you have a PS5, that KIDAMNESIAC app which is basically a virtual art exhibit is essential.

lowkey very nice
An old familiar favourite
This is an “experience”, A for effort Kid A, I think this little guy is gonna be big! Love the range on this, soaring strings and horns to digital ding dongs to rip roarin rockin roller coaster [©️Universal Studios Orlando Resort] Favorite song is the one about the minion movie
How to Disappear Completely got me contemplating my life decisions, as always. Fave Tracks : Everything in its Right Place, Idioteque, Motion Picture Soundtrack
circa 1998: what’s better, The Bends or OK Computer? This is one way of settling a pointless argument.
Great when you're in the mood for it. Annoying when you're not.
This is an amazing album that somehow didn't speak to me the way OK Computer and The Bends did. National Anthem still cooks, though. SO many great songs.
A great start! Familiar with this album. Moody, sad all in all a win.
Good Radiohead album but definitely not my favorite. Would do 3.5 if I could
Every band has to find its sound, but not all bands' sounds are as unique as others'. For me, Radiohead has one of the greatest and most unique sounds out there, and this album demonstrates that. Even the not-so-exciting tracks are a cool listen.
got better as it went on. not used to random noise music but it was infinitely better than beck
great album
Heard previously. Mood music. I’ve definitely enjoyed over the years although it’s not a go-to listen.
I’ve already heard this from start to finish before when I was a teen. Good tunes.
Quite a solid album. I don't consider myself a Radiohead fan, but this album is great and comes jam-packed with amazing tracks such as "Idioteque", "Optimistic", "Everything In Its Right Place", and "Morning Bell"
Ethereal sounds. Unexpected and intriguing.
This is a really hard review for me to write. I might do it in three. Short Fuck 5 Honest Turned me off Radiohead for ages 3 Current I'm a gear guy. Headphones, amps etc are my thing. This album doesn't show you what your gear can do, it shows you what your gear is doing. It has as many layers as a vanilla slice. The contrabass wind, the epic mids and oh my that voice. I did drop and run from this for a decade or more, but I now hold it close. It matters not what I think, for Kid A is a eruption that will continue for longer than I will think about it. Thoroughly epic. 4
This is a cool album, darker, more urgent and more electronic than earlier Radiohead material. A good listen!
Radiohead started getting airplay at a point in time when I had a bit of a pop-culture hiccup as far as what new music I was being exposed too. It took me a long time to warm up to Radiohead. There are tracks that I don't like, and tracks that I like very much. Kid A successfully overcomes my reluctance to listen to the band. "Everything in Its Right Place" and "Idioteque" are the tracks that are closest to me marking for a re-listen, but the album as a whole does not have any tracks that turn me away from listening. I could come back to this album to hear what I've missed. Radiohead provides a combination of not-quite-rock / not-quite-indie / not-quite-electronic music that could be background or foreground music, depending on your preference for the moment. I'll probalby come back to this one.
4.5/5. Very enjoyable album. This is a cool, experimental mix of rock and electronica. It is interesting to see how the group got to this point, seeing how their previous albums were more rock than electronic.
Kid A's sound has decomposed and absorbed countless new perfumes, like a carcass in the forest. Radiohead move as close as possible to electronic music, but without endorsing it. (8/10) FT: Everything In Its Right Place, How To Disappear Completely
Boy there's a lot of Radiohead on this list. This one is a good middle ground between their more early pop/rock sound and their later more experimental music. 4 stars.
Cinematic, dark, experimental. A great listening experience.
A spooky, atmospheric album that flows so well you have to listen to it in one go really - A couple of tracks can be listened to in isolation but really you want to put it on and listen from start to finish. Not my favourite Radiohead, bit more low key, but definitely something to appreciate.
Honestly one of the stronger Radiohead albums we've had. Hard to say if it would be my favorite, but it's great. Love, love, love the opener, such a cool song (and featured in the movie The Accountant, perhaps an unofficial OCD anthem). Still not exactly sold on the idea of Radiohead as some saviors of music, but they're definitely a solid group with some great albums. That's enough for me. Favorite tracks: Everything in its Right Place, Kid A, Optimistic, How to Disappear Completely. Album art: I've seen this one probably the most, it's kind of the signature Radiohead album cover. A paper mountain range? Not sure, but it's iconic. 4.5/5
Frequently beautiful, but just too bleak and anaemic for me.
Erg fijn album!
Very good
Previously not knew of my favourite Radiohead albums but on revisiting I have come to love the ambient interludes. The whole thing works perfectly as a tonal piece. Lovely
Being unfamiliar with most of Radiohead’s work, this is the second full album of theirs I’ve listened to after OK Computer. It’s quite different from that one isn’t it? I actually found this one more intriguing and engaging with its series of different soundscapes. Even when it gets challenging (“National Anthem,” for example) it’s somehow interesting to me.
Unlike the Radiohead album that I was introduced to not so long ago, this one immediately sucked me in. I was captivated by the sound. I listened to the entire album over and over and was mesmerized by its rhythms. There were a couple of moments sprinkled in where I got a bit detached and maybe bored, but overall, I very much enjoyed the listen.
I wonder if being a fan of Radiohead albums is sort of like choosing between Elvis and the Beatles: There's a famous saying that you can like both artists, but you can't love them equally. Well, I feel similarly about Kid A and Ok Computer. I recognize the greatness of both albums but I'm definitely more of an Ok Computer girl, myself. That said, Kid A deserves to be on this list, I thought it was very much worth a listen, and about three tracks on here are absolute bangers I will come back to over and over again. The biggest stars for me here were Everything In Its Right Place (a killer opener track, off-putting and experimental but darkly compelling), Optimistic (catchy melody, bright chords mixed with a dark key), and Idioteque (great lyrics while somehow being unironically danceable). Radiohead's reputation as a seminal band is well-earned. Kid A's not exactly my vibe but earns 4 stars on my list just the same.
Kid A is the fourth album from Radiohead released in 2000. The band diverged from their normal alternative rock music to experiment with electronica music using synthesizers, and brass and string instruments. This change paid off as this album became immediately popular and was still one of the best albums at the end of the decade. This album charted number 1 in the UK and US, sold over 207,000 copies in its first week, won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album, and has been certified platinum. Also, this was one of the first albums to be mostly promoted on the internet and was available to stream at release. This album was widely anticipated but loathed by critics. Critics were expecting another standard rock album and were surprised to find a slow, serene, and even other-worldly sounding album. The band's brave decision to stray from the norm and try something new was thought of as career suicide, but the fans - and the direction pop music would take in the following years - supported and even embraced this change in musical style. This album cemented Radiohead as a "main stage act" in the business for years to come because it showed they could create something great, even when trying something new. It seems like this album's style would fit in perfectly well with the music of today. IMO I loved the album and it may be my favorite Radiohead album now. Combining rock and electronic music is something special, and I'm on the search for more music like this album.
Kid B really but Kid A for effort!
The album surprised me, this album is not the classical Radiohead, it's good but not great
It's Radiohead as it is to be expected
Superb
Rock like jazz
One of the best! Some tracks you can live without but the bangers on here are just that!
Like it a lot, it looks like an introduction to In Rainbows.
Frábær plata sem ég þekki inn og út.
It took me a long time to really get around to giving Radiohead a good go. I started to delve into them just over a year ago. I've listened to all their albums, and although I have no clear favourites this is up there. I know this album will continue to grow over time, but at the moment it is a solid 4.
Very nice, atmospheric.
I enjoy this album but still not my most favorite Radiohead album.
Cool album. A bit lower energy than I expected, but then again I've never listened to a full Radiohead album.
Great album
Not something I'd listen to that often but when it fits the mood it's really great.
Really good atmosphere with a variety of sounds. The pro of being like 12 days behind is that I got to listen to this on a grim snowy day. 8/10
7/10. Had its moments but not especially memorable.
Extrem sphärisch, athmosphärisch, am Anfang mega, dann ok, mitte/Ende wieder mega. Phasettenreich, viele Instrumente!
Experimental Radiohead. Not their best, but still amazing. Great example of their range and genius.
Works for me. Radiohead manages to convey their particular and unique sound, also seem to be evolving toward something.
Great album. Worth a listen, Fav songs: Everything is in the right place Treefingers Motion picture soundtrack
I vaguely remember listening to this. I will return to it at a later date to update my rating.
So sad
Easier to get in to than in rainbows
More instrumental than expected, not very familiar with Radiohead before. Reminded of Animal Collective, though softer.
Amazing album that redefined the band. Idioteque is my favourite track but all of them are simply great. Not my favourite Radiohead album but top 3 for sure.
I waffle back and forth, sometimes feeling like I 'get' it and other times just feeling like it is another jam band cacophony. Obviously this wasn't intended to be easy listening, but I feel like this album wants me to put in a fair amount of work before I get the payoff.
I really didn't want to like this as much as I do because I always thought of myself as someone who wasn't a Radiohead fan. But yea, it's pretty great.
Eksperimenterende rock, elektronisk, ambient, svingende
4.5/5 - almost great, some tracks a little cold
This is well-rounded, aesthetically pleasing, and damn enjoyable album. Radiohead know how to put out a good album and have consistently done so through most of their doscography. Favourite songs were Idioteque and National Anthem
I've grown into Radiohead. I used to think they were boring and whiney ad i didnt like it. I still think they are a bit whiney, but i appreciate that now.
Surprised I enjoyed this as much as I did. Mostly slow and introspective with quite a zen vibe. If you can tune in it's a ride worth taking.
Very much a departure from their previous work. Need to listen again
Weirdly likeable. Nice to have on in the background, with a few stand out moments too.
Unobtrusive, quiet, and interesting.
Headphones
Broke out my double 10" vinyl copy of this excellent album. Everything in its Right Place starts things off perfectly and you just know this is going to be a challenging and ultimately rewarding listen. Every song creates a mood uniquely its own but the whole album holds together somehow. For me this is Radiohead'sthird best album and that's saying a lot. Not quite 5 stars....4 1/2, but for this project; 4 stars ✨
Trippy opening track, lofi vibes from the instrumentation. Relaxing to have in the background. The overall feeling is somewhat of a soundtrack to waking up after a night of partying. The second song reminds me of sitting at home playing minecraft back in 2011. I’d imagine this album would be great to trip to because of the eerie vocal delivery and the shoe gaze, ethereal and slightly dissonant and jazzy sound that the instrumentation provides. The vocals and instruments come together nicely and paint a vivid but moody picture.
Gorgeous. I was sleepy and this was a blissful listen.
Good stuff. I'm sure I'll say that again in ten years when I listen to radio head again.
ooo kid a mdr boeuf
This album is constantly talked about as one of the greatest by Radiohead. Somewhat true. This album is great start to finish. I recommend it but you need to be exactly the right type for this. Some songs were a miss the first couple of times.
Brilliant
Noisy, no better than OK Computer tho
Production: 17/20 Songwriting: 15/20 Innovation: 18/20 Bangers: 10/20 Emotional response: 15/20 =75 Cracking
3.5
Ambient, trippy, experimental. Really interesting.
Enjoyed listening to but not bangers. Listen start from finish Listen to more radiohead
Naja.
radiohead is the answer to "what high quality music should I listen during my suicide attempt?!"
My experience so far with Radiohead includes "Creep", and the entire album of "The Bends". I love both; have been meaning to get around to more of their stuff. Here we are! I did not care for the first track very much. Thom York's vocals, especially in later Radiohead, are very grating on my ears. I wasn't sure if I was going to dig this album much based on the first song. But the rest of the album is great! I listened in the car, so I honestly couldn't tell you much about each track individually, but the construct as a whole is excellent. Really good "jam" material. Certainly not much to tap your toes to, or sing along with. I cannot even begin to imagine what a Radiohead concert is like. But I could see myself revisiting this often. I think it would be good "working" music. It also reminded me a bit of I am Robot and Proud, which is a favorite artist of mine. I wonder if he was inspired by Kid A.
I liked this one quite a bit, especially the opening few tracks. I didn't enjoy the vocals as much, but some of the instrumentals were fantastic.
Seems written specifically for music critics. Hard to say if it was genuinely written or if the intent was to win the approval of a bunch of music hipsters. Either way it’s pretty good.
Well, its not my favourite Radiohead. Luke complained that it was super boring, I disagree but it doesn't do it for me like other Radiohead ones. I kind of get it, but I find it peaceful and interesting.
Classic. 3rd favorite Radiohead album. 9/10 1. Everything in its Right Place 2. The National Anthem 3. Kid A
Really good. Echo
Odd collection of experimental electronic jazz. Not as pop rock focused as previous albums of theirs. Good background music to study to
Like not love
Pretty cool, I should really give Radiohead another try now I've grown up so much 8/10
I forgot to take notes while listening...
Yeah, it's good. I bet if I listened more closely I'd glean more of a 'story' than listening idly in the background
Vibey. Pre-911 swoopy synths that have been done to death but back then they hadn't yet, and still manages to be a little fresh 20 years l8r
Excellent ethereal sounding rock album. Highlights: Everything In Its Right Place Kid A Optimistic
In the top 5 best Radiohead albums
Kid A, nothing to say.
Not the best radiohead album, but still pretty good
Amazing
Beautiful. 4.5
Some fun songs for easy listening. The audio quality is pretty low, which brings down the enjoyment level, and the sound feels a bit derivative, but I enjoyed it a fair amount!
Fantastic album. Something you'll definitely have to listen to a few times to soak it in. Lots of different sounds to discover, very electronic compared to the bends but definitely showcases their development musically. Memorable album without memorable tracks. Songs are better together than by themselves.
Very experimental, chill, kinda strange vibes. Would put on as background music.
Not their best album but a good one
No thoughts, head empty, only "How to Disappear Completely" (This oscillates between being my second and third favorite Radiohead album. Currently I'd put it in third behind OKC and IR)
What a beautiful piece of post-modern rock my guy. Really loved it, good for studying haha
Amazing how far they travelled in 4 albums.
actual pog
9.3/10
2000. Key Songs: Everything In Its Right Place, How To Disappear Completely, In Limbo, Motion Picture Soundtrack
I always struggle with Radiohead. There’s so much gushing, and there’s always been something in the way of me fully getting them. Hail To The Thief was good, and I really liked this. I need to give more time to all their work really. I think it’s their universal acclaim that puts me off and makes me more cynical and critical.
It was alright but Radiohead just isn’t my favorite thing unfortunately
id give it 7.4/10. i like the sound of it but it doesnt really stand out to me. maybe id think differently if i listened to it more. its not in my top 3 radiohead albums.
vaca come back
Idioteque 🌟
Brings me back to the millennium. Ambient electronic sounds. I like how the lead singer uses his voice as an instrument
Good, but not their best!
I like Radiohead but In Rainbows is definitely my favorite.
decent
Didn’t finish the album but it wasn’t bad. I liked what I heard but wasn’t blown away.
Don't like
Kind of boring.
I mean I can appreciate the work they put in to make this extremely unique album, but I just wanna listen to music and vibe! Don’t really feel like I can do that fr. Weak 3 and won’t be revisiting
Pretty intriguing especially after thinking I would never get into Radiohead. Still don't love the mumbling vocals and not sure how often I would come back to this but worth a listen
This release is better than the utterly boring Amnesiac, but still . . . I find the lack of songs and the sleek sound design not very appealing.
I'm such a fan of Ok, Computer that I find it really hard to reconcile that I just don't like this. There are some nice sounds here and there, some really interesting music, but I've listened to it twice through and I don't get it. Maybe if it was quiet and nighttime and I was settling into the mood I'd feel different. But for now it falls flat.
Not sure if it's my cup of tea. Def expected something diff having heard OK Computer a few weeks ago. Just did some light reading about how Yorke was burnt out/writers block/disillusioned with rock/etc when making this so may need to do another listen with that in mind. Same vein: going to have to revisit when I'm sadder or in more of a depressed mood - feel like it's got another level I didn't tap into.
