5-Star Albums (77)
View Album WallPopular Reviews
79 days in, and this is the first album I’ve gotten that I’d already heard before. Although I prefer Pink Moon, this is still an amazing album. One can only wonder what Nick Drake might have gone on to do had this album been a success.
I would not hesitate to put this on a list of my 10 favourite albums ever.
I’ve never felt so conflicted about an album before. I feel like critically this album is terrible, but I just can’t help loving it.
God only knows is quite possibly my favourite song ever.

This album was my introduction to Radiohead. It’s not bad, just kind of boring and forgetful.
I can recognize that there are probably elements of greatness on this album, but it wasn’t for me. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could.
I liked this more than I thought I would. Usually not a big fan of this genre, but this album had good writing + Beatles samples which also made it better (I’m really biased).
Solid rock album.
This album kind of disappointed me. I read reviews for it on RYM beforehand and considering this aligns pretty good with some of my favourite albums, I had my expectations really high, and don’t get me wrong, this album is good, it’s just not deserving of the high praise it gets from some people.
Really great live performances
I now feel obligated to listen to this album while studying and doing homework
Really great album
This album had two really good songs (blue orchid and the denial twist) and the rest of the album was just okay.
I feel like if I was forced onto a desert island with only this album as entertainment, I would start to like it significantly more or significantly less.
Going in, the two songs I knew from this were the title track and the kids are alright, and going out they were most certainly the best tracks on the album. The rest of it is still really good 60s rock though.
This album started out relatively strong but really fizzled out by the end. Definitely a victim of coming out during the CD era.
Shut up and take my money 🤜💰💰💰
This gives me a headache
I had never heard of this album or band before listening, but as I was listening I could not help but think that I had heard this band before. After listening I clicked on their Spotify profile and realized that this is the same band that made fairytale of New York, which is my Dad’s favourite Christmas song and has been absolutely ingrained into my mind from him playing it over and over and over again every December. What’s that? Oh right, that wasn’t a review of the album. Oh well.
There were elements to this that I enjoyed, but overall it was kinda boring
I really enjoyed this. It wasn’t 5 star material, but it was really close to being.
This was really good, it just wasn’t 5 star material.
I didn’t really think I was going to like this going in, but it was really groovy
This was a really solid 4.
Thai felt kinda bland. Definitely not my style.
Holy fuck this is so good. I adore Johnny Cash’s voice, and there are some excellent covers on this.
Really boring. I might have tolerated this more if it was like a half hour shorter.
I wish I was smart enough as one of the other reviewers to come up with a tortilla chip joke.
This sounds really good, but the lyrics are kinda trash.
Literally acoustic punk
This was an amazing album for Bowie to go out on.
I love the dreamy sound a lot of these songs have, but the lyrics are really meh.
There were some elements in this that I enjoyed a lot more than others.
I sentence you to 2 hours of country music
I dunno why, but this album makes me think of vanilla ice cream.
This is the second Beastie Boys album I’ve gotten, and although I prefer Paul’s Boutique, this is still a really solid album.
I struggled decided on giving this 3 or 4 stars. On one hand, there are some genuinely really good songs on this, but on the other hand, I found it to be overly long. If this was shortened to a single LP with the filler taken off I’d definitely give it a 4, maybe even a 5.
This album slightly frustrates me, because it COULD have been a five, but isn’t.
This is the type of album that would hit differently at 3AM
The fact that this isn’t on Spotify is tragic plz add it back Joni
Too much bongos.
Definitely an improvement over the other Radiohead album I’ve gotten so far on this generator (hail to the thief), but not by a whole lot. I’d probably give this 3.5 stars if I could.
Horrible album made worse by the fact that it’s nearly an hour and a fucking half.
Somehow this is the most realistic concept album I’ve listened to so far.
There are moments here and there on this that I like, I just really can’t get into it. I’d probably give this 3.5 if I could.
This Jack White guy is good at playing guitar.
I am very disappointed that this isn’t on Spotify, because it’s actually really good
79 days in, and this is the first album I’ve gotten that I’d already heard before. Although I prefer Pink Moon, this is still an amazing album. One can only wonder what Nick Drake might have gone on to do had this album been a success.
This is my second Neil Young album in a row. Improvement over Rust Never Sleeps, but not by much.
I would not hesitate to put this on a list of my 10 favourite albums ever.
Some decent songs on this (especially bitter sweet symphony), but it really did not need to be an hour and 15 minutes.
Great performances slightly let down by going on far too long than they need to.
Didn’t particularly enjoy the vocals. Maybe if I spent more time with this album, I’d start to like them more, but I don’t particularly want to do that.
God only knows is quite possibly my favourite song ever.
I’m really shocked, because this is my third Beastie Boys album, and I’m not even 100 days into the generator yet. Paul’s Boutique was great, but they’ve gotten progressively worse from there.
This is the most mid album ever. It’s not good, but at the same time it’s not bad.
Second album by this band I’ve gotten, and this one is better. Solid 4.
Never heard of this album before, surprised it doesn’t even have 3 stars overall, because it’s quite good
I particularly enjoyed the period of silence before the hidden track began.
I can’t see myself returning to this much, but it’s still great enough to warrant a 4 from me.
The hits on this are great, regular tracks not so much.
Amazing live performances of great songs.
I liked this waaay more than I thought I would.
First two tracks are amazing and the rest is just good. This might be a really unpopular opinion, but I prefer Cream’s debut over this.
I’ve never felt so conflicted about an album before. I feel like critically this album is terrible, but I just can’t help loving it.
As of now, this is the best album I’ve heard released in the 2020s
I might have tolerated this more if it wasn’t so needlessly long.
Pretty much everything about this album is objectively great, but it just didn’t click with me. I could picture myself regretting not giving this album a 5 in the future.
I am usually not big on Hip Hop albums, but I actually quite enjoyed this one.
I’d give this 3.5 stars if I could.
Technically speaking this is very good, and I also really like some of Bob Dylan’s other work, but this is just a bit too primitive for my liking.
I can recognize that this is probably good, but it’s just not really my thing
This album sucks. Jk it’s pretty fire 🔥
Definitely not bad, but not really my thing
I consider myself a pretty big Rolling Stones fan, but this being their best album seems to be the one opinion I don’t have in common with most stones fans.
Not very good.
I love that fact that the album cover is a picture of Mallard, a symbol of mid 1900s Britain, but other than that this album is just eh.
Really good, but not good enough to warrant being the 60th top album on Rym. Maybe I’ll start to like it even more on relistens
Buzzkill for my Christmas Eve
I will probably never listen to this album outside of December, but it’s still really really amazing.
Good album! After listening, I was shocked to see how poorly this album is rated, I don’t understand the hate.
Interesting timing, as I just recently got this album on vinyl for Christmas. Fantastic album.
Good grunge album
Never heard of this before, but 1 second into the first song I knew I’ve heard my dad play it a million times.
Easily one of my top 5 favourite albums of all time.
So much better than the other Arcade Fire album I’ve listened to
Okay, but not really my thing. I’d maybe appreciate the live performances if I had listened to more Frampton prior to this. Baby I love your way is great though.
Really great album, but not the best by Talking Heads. I’m waiting to get Speaking in Tongues and Remain in Light so I can give them both 5 stars.
Way longer than it needed to be
I wish this was actually bad so I could make a pun about the title being accurate.
When I listened to this album for the first time a few years back, it didn’t really make much of an impression on me (except for Mrs Robinson, a song which I love) Looking back I don’t really know what I was thinking, and upon revisiting this album I have found it to be incredible
This definitely deserves a 5. I just have one issue with it, that being it is definitely a chore to sit through 1 hour and 45 minutes of prog jazz in one sitting. If I ever listen to this again, I will definitely have to take breaks throughout. Great album though!
Not really my thing, and a bit repetitive.
Pretty generic country rock. Not bad, but also not amazing.
Was wondering how much longer it would be until I got a Beatles album in the generator
I’m just gonna say it, this is my favourite album ever. There is so much in this album I love, and if I ever tried to make music, this would be my primary source of inspiration.
Definitely not bad, but I did not need to hear this before I die
There is some good material on this, but it’s just far too long and bloated for me to like it
Absolutely love this, though I am willing to admit if this was my first time listen, I would have absolutely hated it, as there is quite a lot about this album which takes getting used to. Definitely an album one should listen to multiple times.
This isn’t entirely terrible, but I can NOT get past the lyrics
Not terrible, but waaaaaay too long. I would have given this a 3 or maybe a 4 if it was half the length
Ily Nick Drake
Perfect mellow album
The organ on this album sounds exactly like the rock organ in GarageBand
Decent album, but that Across the Universe cover is atrocious and almost lowered my rating to 3 stars.
I feel like on paper this album concept shouldn’t work, but it’s just so good.
This is very impressive for managing to stay engaging for an entire hour, but what holds it back from being a 5 is that this album just sort of feels devoid of any emotions which elevate it from just being background music.
Not bad, but there are definitely better Creedence albums
How this got mixed reviews when it was released is beyond me
Uhh what was that?
This pleasantly surprised me
The rest of the album is so mediocre, it makes Maybe I’m Amazed feel like the greatest song ever
I really want to give this a 5 to spite its low rating, but it’s really not THAT good. Still definitely doesn’t deserve to be one of the bottom ten rated albums on this site though.
I felt really conflicted on my rating for this album. There are several songs here which aren’t very good, but I still feel this deserves a 4 just for how ambitious it is and how interesting the story is. If this had some of the filler taken out of it, this could honestly be one of my favourite albums ever, but as it currently stands this is just really good.
My only issues are that the album is a bit too long and I absolutely despise Shake it off. Ignoring those two things, this is a fairly decent album.
Not bad, but really cheesy.
Good album, I noticed the cover is a reference to The Kink Kontroversy
This good, but kind of forgettable
Funky af
Decent, but the instrumentals aren’t interesting enough to warrant this album being as long as it is
Love the album cover, but the album isn’t particularly good.
There are some decent songs on this album, but there are also some rather poor ones too. I would probably like this album more if The Beatles hadn’t grown as much as songwriters after this.
Not really my thing
I usually like shoegaze, but this really didn’t click with me
No thank you
This album has only one good song on it. Take a guess which one it is.
This sounds like something I would have made on GarageBand when I was 12 by cranking all the instrument settings to max
I could drink a case of this album
There was a bit of good stuff on this, but it really wasn’t worth trudging through everything else to get to
The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because live at Folsom exists and I simply think that is the better Johnny cash prison album. This is still great though
Not a bad album at all, but that album cover is hilariously bad. Why does Morrissey have a gun, please don’t hurt me.
The Beach Boys’s late 60s - early 70s output is so underrated
Without a doubt the best Beatles album
I was originally gonna give this a 1, but I started to like it slightly more by the end. Maybe if I listened to this a few times it would start to click, but I would rather not dedicate more of my time to this album
Criminally underrated - pun intended
I really like Talking Heads, but this was not very good. Kind of a shame because Rhythm section of Talking Heads + Adrian Belew on guitar sounds amazing on paper
My opinion of this changed 10 different times while listening
This grew on me the more I listened to it
The first track was absolutely amazing, and while the rest of the album was great, it wasn’t on the same level.
Not really my thing
I usually like jazz, but this just sounds like a bunch of noise
Close contender for my favourite album ever
Even better then most Beatles albums
The title track is perfection
VREEEE VROOOOOO VREEEEE VROOOOOO
Crab rave
Underrated
Good music but the lyrics make me feel very uncomfortable
I prefer Blackstar over this, which might be the most unpopular opinion of all time
Good guitar playing, terrible vocals on
My seemingly very unpopular opinion is that The Kinks are better than The Beatles
The only thing that could have possibly made this album better would be if Strawberry Fields Forever was on it
Probably 5/5, but it’s kind of redundant to listen to this when the Smile Sessions exists.
How this album has such a low rating is beyond me
Rest in peace, Brian Wilson
What else do you want me to say?
RIP Ozzy
No skips, not even Moonchild
Unintelligible mumbling
Anyone who gives this less than a 5 shouldn’t be using this site 😾
