Quite uninspired. Did not pay enough attention to be able to tell if the lyrics were good or not.

Slightly unconventional, good sound quality, but it felt like something was missing. O-K-A-Y - is how I'd spell it in my dictionary.

Not very impressed. It could be that modern bands have refined this style so much that this one album sounds too simplistic/dated to me. Will I listen to any song here again? Unlikely.

Could not finish it. May only be listenable in clubs and if intoxicated.

I hit play. I leave my room. I return a few minutes later - by then I had already forgotten that this was playing. As I open the door, a very loud and strange sound welcomes me - it was around 0:51 of "Upon 9th and Fairchild". I was very confused for a second. This earns this album at least one more star.

If this album was a Pokémon, it would be of normal type.

I had listened to something by this guy before but actually enjoyed it more this time. Quite nice.

Little Wing is by far the best thing here, but Spanish Castle Magic is also quite nice. The album is not "Electric Ladyland" but it is good.

"Safesurfer" is by far the best song here, I like it a lot. It would be even better if at least 1 unit of effort was spent on writing proper lyrics. 3★ just because of this one song.

From Disc 1 I'd say only 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps' is really 4+ stars song, 'Blackbird' is okayish and the rest is mediocre at best. 'Ob-la-Di Ob-la-Da' is exactly what I have in mind when I think of The Beatles: silly songs that make me question the sanity of people around me. 'Helter Skelter' is nice as well, and overall I'd say Disc 2 is more interesting, even though it has some shitty songs in there. The album deserves 2 stars, but I will give it another one because having one song that I like a lot is already quite a feat.

Quite bad and overrated, as usual from Bowie. "Be My Wife" at least caught my attention for a while, so he gets a star for that.

I was expecting this to be a 3* album, since I've never liked "Killing in the name" that much, but "Bombtrack" is such a banger that made me immediately reconsider this. Easily one of the best opening tracks I've ever seen.

This is so bad. Easily one of the worst albums I've seen here. How can you have 23 songs that just sound the same - all equally bad? There is some variety when other artists are included, but still not good enough to save this pile of shit.

This is the kind of 5* album that I can understand if you hate it.

3.5/5 or higher. Not the first time I listen to a Beastie Boys album but the first time I do enjoy it.

1.5/5 and obviously does not belong to such a list. Someone has already written the review I'd like to write, so I will just copy it here: "... Essentially what I hate about "pop music" is this perfect vocal-style, I like my vocals with some grit or humanness. This just feels so manufactured and processed. Instrumentally it's all fine, it's just pop vocals ruin it for me 100%. I have nothing against Taylor Swift as she clearly is successful at what she's doing, but it's just not for me in any capacity. Furthermore my impression is she has no different lyrical content beyond relationship woes which gets old, but I get it... that's a huge market."

This was way less malleable and ductile than I expected — somehow making it an even better album. The cover art sucks though.

"Another one by this guy?" was my first thought. As an officially accredited non-Bowie fan, let me say I wasn't very excited. Much to my disappointment, I must admit that it was surprisingly listenable, which leads me to suspect that this 1001 Albums list is nothing but a big, elaborate scam to repeatedly expose people to David Bowie and to slowly change their opinion on the guy.
