Reviews (page 8 of 8)

Voice is fine, and music is decent, but the songs get really repetitive. Best song: When You Gonna Learn?

Kind of 90s disco, not doing it for me

Didn’t do much for me

didn’t feel special

I expected to like this more, given how much I like Jamiroquoi's more popular singles. But I found the vocals way too derivative of Stevie Wonder; it almost sounds like a cover band. I think the band is quite talented musically (I was actually a bit surprised that this is a band, not just 1 guy with session musicians), and it's pretty telling that my favourite song was the instrumental "Music of the Mind". "Blow Your Mind" is pretty good too, but about halfway through the 10 min "Revolution 1993", I completely lost interest.

Too much jazz for me but there are a couple of songs that raiseit from 1 star. 2 stars or D- for me.

I liked the lyrical side of it, but musically this album was a real drag. It was boring, repetitive, and all the bloat really dragged it down. It didn't help that I don't really like jazz; even the more modern version of it. 2 stars

I didn't think the Love Boat theme could serve as a template for an entire album. I guess I should never underestimate the inventiveness of true artists.

🎧Not for me

It's fine, but not for me

Really dull noodly jazz funk wannabbees. Really overstays its welcome.

Essentially a worse Stevie. Enjoyed some songs but nothing I’d really listen to again. Not as good as virtual insanity.

All the songs sound the same

3 songs in 2-3

Funky pop soul acid jazzy dance music. Plenty of energy here. The rhythm section stands out and makes the album listenable through incessant grooves. The bassist, in particular, writes nimble and funky lines without getting too complex or wanky, leading to memorable bass parts that keep my foot tapping and loop in my head. You can hear the bass influences of Larry Graham, Bootsy, and Jameson. There’s brass, woodwinds, strings, and probably more! There’s conscious lyrics! There’s a white Englishman who might have some soul! But I really didn’t care for most of that other stuff, just the bass. Would prefer to hear this as an instrumental group.

An ok album

And the award of Most-Black-Woman-Sounding-White-Guy goes to… *checks ”singer of Jamiroquai”*… Jason Kay! Anyhow, this starts out strong enough but becomes rather wearisome in its incessantly pop and nondescriptly fluffy politics. Lots of lyrics that don’t actually mean much, e.g. empty calls for revolution, or laughable revelations, like the fact that White getting two while Black gets five years apparently took the singer a while to ”suss out”, etc.

Not ver Interesting in my opinion. Nothing really made an impact.

Decent background music but this 2 disc album is way too lengthy. I think there's probably an hour and 15 minutes of fat that could have been trimmed off. Because for the moments that I was really digging, there was twice as much time where I was just waiting for it to move on.

If you are planning on putting out a 90s acid jazz revord and are concerned ut may havebtoo much didgeridoo on it, compare it to Emergency On Planet Earth. If your album has even half of the amount of didgeridoo on it as this record, then there is too much didgeridoo. It's fine. It's forgettable.

From the get go, it's obvious that there's a heavy Marvin Gaye influence/homage. "Have you heard the news today" "Mountain high and river deep" "When we gonna stop it going on" I agree with the messages in the messages in the album, but the problem is that Jamiroquai lacks the depth and gravitas of Marvin Gaye or Steve Wonder when talking about these things. You really believe Marvin Gaye when he's talking about sociopolitcal issues in the world, you can hear how it affects him on a profound emotional level. With Jamiroquai that is almost totally lost. Maybe it's unfair to compare them to two of the greatest artists ever, but they invite those comparisons by sounding like them without sounding particularly fresh themselves. The question is what is Jamiroquai bringing to the table? Well they groove, everything is well performed and executed. It's music that I'd enjoy if I walked into a party or if it was in the vaguely in the back round. That may sound like an insult but it isn't exactly, I'd rather here Jamiroquai than most of the music playing at most bars/restaurants/clubs. But it is music to really bop your heard too? Or music to meditate to on the issues facing the earth? Certainly not. The lyrics are often vague and feel like commodified versions of the radical things they are perhaps hoping to express. The music is decent, but it's trying hard to be things that it is not

A very 70’s vibe Not a fan And way too many songs! I didn’t finish the whole album

Not bad at all, but not the genre of music I immediately enjoy/appreciate

Emergency on Planet Earth I’ve never listened to a Jamiroquai album. Back in the 90s I really hated them, even though I’d never really listened to their music. I think my 15 year old mind found it difficult to cope with anything that wasn’t white men with guitars playing rock music. Nowadays I do like Space Cowboy, Cosmic Girl, Virtual Insanity, Deeper Underground and Canned Heat whenever I hear them, but I have never felt compelled to try an album. If you are going to give them a try I suppose you would start with the first album. But then you’d listen to it and think that’s a mistake. If you take each musical element in isolation they are all good; skilled bass playing, great drumming and drum patterns, excellent string and horn arrangements. Keys and guitars also good. The didgeridoo is a bit of an affectation but it’s fine. The arrangements are also very nicely layered. But then when you put them together it so much of it becomes the worst kind of Brand New Heavies style acid jazz - boring, tuneless, insipid, dull, tedious, uninspiring. The only one that manages to escape into being a kind of fun danceable tune is Whatever it is, I Just Can’t Stop. And then the lyrics are godawful immature self important nonsense. Cringe, as the kids would say. Clearly they have a lot of love for the music that inspired them, but in trying to recreate those sounds and instrumentation it comes across as a boring, ersatz, empty, hollow facsimile of 70s soul and jazz. I think I might prefer the next couple of albums as they seem to lose some of the acid jazz styles and lean more into soul and disco. But I’m unlikely to actually bother. And I shan’t be listening to this again.
 ⭐⭐️

Jamiroquai has a very unique sound and this album is all him. Good jams for in the background. But all the songs kind of blended into one another.

It was doing my head in by the end, plus he's a prick

I can tell this is *supposed* to be fun, but it just doesn’t quite get there for me.

Used to enjoy Jamiroquai when I was a kid in the 90’s, but I also enjoyed the Godzilla film they did the hit song for, looking back now, both were a bit shit.

I don't really know what to make of the album and rating to give it. It does have a nice funk groove and interesting arrangements with a variety of sounds/instruments. However, others have pointed out how much this sounds like an attempt to recreate a Stevie Wonder recording right down to the vocals.

Wish I liked this album more, I know I like some Jamiroquai songs Best Song: Revolution 1993 Worst Song: N/A

Sorry. I can't stand this pseudo jazzy, pseudo funky, jittery, hasty, ADHSy style no longer than 15 minutes maximum, before I got tendencies to kill someone. If there's music in hell, this album certainly is on heavy rotation.

Konfuser Avid Jazz.

2.5/5. Quality depleted as it went on.

Funky and jazzy Rock.

I feel like I should like this more than I do. It has lots of elements of other music I love, but something isn't clicking for me. The length of these songs doesn't help. Highlights: If I Like It I Do It, Whatever It Is I Just Can't Stop

I don’t know why I didn’t like this more. It felt repetitive and kinda tacky. And I love funk. Bummer.

I did try but it felt like. Load of nonsense at the time and unfortunately that hasn’t changed for me.

When I began high school in the mid-late 90s one thing that struck me was all the Jamiroquia graffiti everywhere. That mascot was ubiquitous. As, unfortunately, was their music. I guess it was different to a lot of the slurry around at the time. It was just different slurry, though.

In all honesty I would genuinely rather listen to Maroon 5. It's like they took the blueprint from Jamiroquai and realized that all anybody cares about are the melodies and pop hooks, and just got rid of all the stuff that wasn't quite Stevie, wasn't quite funk, and wasn't quite jazz. Case in point: I actually liked that one song that was all jazz and no vocals.

The album peaks in the beginning. The first few tracks are very solid and a great energy. The whole album has a great vibe and is very well produced and performed. But the songs all felt the same and blended together by the middle, and at the end it all but lost it's luster. Felt like I was chewing Fruit Stripe gum - first chunk of time with it was really good, but eventually it just left me feeling "whatever" as it went on.

The lead singer of Jamiroquai was involved in a fight at a screening of Episode II-Attack of the Clones. One can only imagine he was wearing his ridiculous Native American headdress at the time. “Hey down in front! Take off that giant hat-I’m trying to watch Dexter Jettster talk to Kit Fisto.”

Dreadful. Extra point for wearing a funny hat.

2 stars

This just sounds so sterile. There are plenty of cool instrumental moments but they just don't feel genuine. I can't imagine anyone hearing this and actually being moved to dance. Also lyrically this is terrible.

The music itself is fine, but it feels like a pretty pale imitation of other work in the genre…………… some of the lyrics made it very clear that they’re English guys trying to write about freeing themselves from oppression, it just doesn’t really work.

Trash, white

Lad wearing a silly hat tries to be Stevie Wonder. What's so influential and important about this album that it needs to be in the book?

La verdad es que prefiero el Travelling Without Moving

Poor man's Stevie Wonder, but let's be honest, there are worse artists out there to bite. Two copy cats out of five. 🐱🐱

Honestly kinda boring

Is quite groovy, does sound like typical pop music tho.

Eentonig, irritante stem

I like it mostly, especially to start. But it really starts to just feel frantic after a while. I think I like the songs individually, just a one-tempo album to listen through.

Crap soul acid pants

At the centre of the Venn diagram Jazzy / Insufferable / Catchy Songs I didn’t like, that I don’t want to listen to again, but or inexplicably stuck in my head anyway

Idk, just wasn't really for me. It was cool music, but it kinda meandered too much and wasn't really ever all that engaging to begin with. Not a great fit. No standouts since I listened to this last week and honestly couldn't recall a single song.

This was generated for me almost 2 weeks ago but I'm only just getting to it now because this one feels like a chore to get through

WAS NOT A FAN Cheesy change the world lyrics.

not a fan.

I enjoy Jamiroquai's radio songs and at first I was enjoying this album. Then every song just kind of started blending together and sounding the same to me. Towards the end I started to realize that on a well built sound system, one that accentuated the deep low base and separated the clean crisp highs, a lot of these songs would have been a different experience. Halfqay through the album I got pretty stoned and the music itself began to resonate with me better but I still found the similarity drowning itself out. Requiring these kinds of enhancements for me to enjoy the music more is why I'm giving this such a low score.

Once you’ve heard the first song on the album you’ve heard the whole album

Stevie Wonder ripoff. 20 years too late bozo!

It’s Stevie wonder for white folk.

Decent funk

- Never listened to a Jamiroquai album before - Maybe would be good in moderation, but found it very grating by the end

Funk is gross

Not my thing

Бля а почему ЭТОТ альбом. Говнище однообразное

Nicht die Platte von denen, die man unbedingt gehört haben müsste. Lief damals bei den coolen Surfer- und Skaterboys. Bleibt nicht so wahnsinnig viel von hängen, Too Young To Die vielleicht.

Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack contender #5

I thought I liked Jamiroquai more than it seems I actually do. It gets very repetitive quite quickly. I remember them having a couple of stand out hits, none of which are on this album. I feel rather disappointed.

Knew this well at the time and liked it. However, I don't enjoy listening to it now. Such is life.

Acid jazz and funk isn't really my thing. If it is then Jamiroquai is probably your man

And now, ladies and gentleman you are invited to an hour of Dad dancing

well at least it wasn’t the beastie boys

I usually love funk but I did not care for this at all, completely shallow and derivative

2. Lots of filler.

Gahhh freaky deaky stuff

Ok. Not my thing, but inoffensive enough. Music for a beatnik restaurant.

Never was a fan of the Q-Annon Shaman. But I do like your shoes.

So totally not my thing. I reserve 1 star for crap. This isn’t crap but it’s nothing I’ll ever listen to so 2 stars it is.

Can't get into it.

Mix between 90’s house music and 70’s soul/funk. It’s groovy! Unfortunately, groove is about all the value it has. The lyrics are entirely forgettable. None of the melodies stick. Outside of the admittedly tasty rhythms in some songs, there’s just not much to grab onto. It’s an enjoyable listen, but that’s all. Some of the songs are way too long too. There’s no reason whatsoever for there to be 8 or 10 minute tracks in this. It just doesn’t have enough musical ideas to sustain interest through tracks like that.

First song was fun and catchy, but dance music isn't really my cup of tea, thia album doesn't really keep my attention. Some interesting and fun funk songs.

There's definitely an Emergency on Planet Earth.

A little busy. Didgin’ Out was unexpectedly refreshing after the acid jazz onslaught.2.75/5

Heard it before?: No Enjoy it?: Not for me personally, vocals and the sound experimentation is fine it just doesn’t appeal to me and ends up sounding lumpy and too overbearing Favourite song: Track 1 - When You Gonna Learn?

No bangers in sight on this one. A mediocre dance album for someone like me that doesn’t love dance music was never going to work well. Don’t really recommend.

I love the music as an instrumental album - but find the lyrics too sickly and insincere.

Derivative and irritating jazz funk. Rating: 1.5/5 Playlist track: When You Gonna Learn Date listened: 08/08/22

I might be too hungover for this. Every song sounds the same.

Not my favorite. Had a strange Australian meets R&B vibe… Rating: 3.7/10

his first album the best songs aren't on it 2.5

So of it's time. Has not aged well

Light and funky. Reminds me of Stevie Wonder

As a kid I was a bit of a Jamiroquai fan. I loved tracks like Virtual Insanity and Canned Heat (and still do). However, this debut album is less focused on slinky pop hooks and more on lengthy funk jams. I expect some purists prefer this to their later, more mainstream output but for me it just drags on for far too long. Decent musicianship but not really my bag. 2.5

ikkje for meg

Eg blei litt metta av Jamiroquai når VH1 alltid spilte eine sangen i reklamane sine for sånn 10-15 år siden. Også har han for stor hatt. Men bra at dei avslutte med ein didgeridoosang

2/5 not really.

Nasally soul put over electronic elevator music influenced by disco. All the good and the bad that such implies.

I'm more a fan of Virtual Insanity than anything on here. Not my favourite by them, and not my favourite in that pop-funk genre of the early 90s.

It was okay; very funky! Oddly enough, I liked the didgeridoo songs the best.

I liked the first song, but then I remembered that I viciously despise jazz. When they started doing the "doo do-do-do doo", it was all downhill from there. I have to say though, that album art and their logo in general is really cool. "Music of the Mind" was a pretty alright instrumental [PLEASE WAIT.. CONNECTING TO THE SERVER]-type track. Can't believe this is a white British guy. I'm going to throw up.

Pas vraiment mon délire Prefs: Music of the Mind, Blow Your Mind, Revolution 1993 Moins pref: Hooked Up

Interesting

Jamiroquai is definitely a talented band with a unique sound. I really want to like it more than I do, the songs just don't connect with me. Maybe it will grow on me later.... 2.5 / 5 for now.

A lot of funk but clearly the songwriting had a way to go before they made the big hits a few years later. Pretty mediocre

The bass was cool. Skimmed through it. I didn’t really care for this

Poslušo sam i više nego potrebno i dalje se ne mog sjetit niti jednog stiha, ritma ili imena pjesme, mislim da to dovoljno govori.

lead singer's voice gets grating as hell

Hey, I love Virtual Insanity! Oh...that's not on here? What the hell? "What The hell?" indeed. I always thought this band was a one hit wonder, which I guess is only really true on this side of the Atlantic. I figured there had to be something of value here since this album both made the list and doesn't include the only song I know from them. There is...kinda. Everything pretty much sounds like it's about 20 years older than it's release date. I think the singers name is Jay, but I prefer "the hat guy", the hat guy is a decent enough singer. He definitely has heard Stevie Wonder before and I'm pretty sure he really liked what he heard. The music itself is...also decent. Unsurprisingly the music also sounds like it could've come out of the 70's for much of the run time. It's funky. It's good in places for a bit...but then it goes on and on and tests my patience. It would be too harsh to say that I didn't like this album. It was just fine I guess. Why would I listen to this when George Clinton albums exist? It would've been more tolerable with about 10-15 minutes trimmed. It just doesn't do anything good enough to really justify listening to. Sorry hat guy. Virtual Insanity was pretty dope though. Maybe that album is better?

Not my thing really. Bit too clever for its own good.

He really tries to swing "yea". Popularity must have been his hat at the time, can´t be the music

I have always much liked the sound of Jamiroquai (and have a copy of Travelling Without Moving), but did not think the songwriting was particularly strong, as confirmed by this album. Some of the tracks are quite nice, like Music of the Mind, but I probably won't listen to this album again.

70er Stevie Wonder mit neuerer Produktion und nicht so gut.

Prat in a hat.

Did not enjoy, made it about halfway through the album before i couldnt listen anymore

I really don‘t care. Ist aber sehr gut gemacht/produziert 2.0

Not my thing, first few songs were alright but then it just dragged.

Really only familiar with Jamiroquai from "Virtual Insanity" and maybe one or two other songs that I can't remember right now. Nothing on this album seemed to have the same funk. Not sure how they chose this album for the list but I can't imagine there is more than one Jamiroquai album on this list. Can't imagine this is their best album though.

A couple of good tracks but a lot of filler IMO. Real score 2.5

Just too funky for me

Some of the instrumental sections are quite lovely. The lengthy Revolution 1993 is the high point of the record, there is little else on here that come close to it though. Enjoyable in parts but wouldn’t revisit.

Simply awful. I struggled with one listen, a mish mash of styles that ape something that's far better.

I’ve forgotten everything I heard already. Unforgettable turgid faux funk. He can stick his didgeridoo up his hole.

Saved Prior: None Off Rip: When You Gonna Learn?, Didgin' Out Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: Dancing, walking, rearranging 70s funk

seems like if i liked them, i'd REALLY like this. as it happens, though, i would appear not to like them very much at all. i managed to dodge them in the 90s, and i come away from this album feeling like i didn't miss out on much. that said, the bassist is awesome; their recapturing of the late-70s daytime tv vibe is impressive, though it makes my skin crawl a bit; parts of this album remind me very much of stevie wonder, which is impressive...but overall, it just misses me. it's SO produced, so sterile in the end.

Bro looks like the Qanon shaman.

~When you gonna learn?- wasn't expecting the digeridoo at the start, they might be using some sort of saxophone or violin(i don't exactly know what) but it sounds great, the song was good until the didgeridoo part because it just broke the rhythm and sounded very weird. ~Too young to die***- the instrumental puts me in such a groovy and fun mood along with the Dudu Dudu s, definitely put a really big smile on my face, although the song is 6 minutes long it really didn't feel like it. ~Hooked up- a bit repetitive at the end, a lot more instrument solos than singing which I don't. necessarily like but at least they sound fantastic. ~If I like it, I do it- beautiful lyrics, the bongo(?) solo was a really fun touch. ~Music of the mind- slowest song yet, the violin(?) gives it a very beautiful vibe, can't say I'm a fan of 6 minutes of pure instrumental but at least it's well-executed. ~Emergency on Planet Earth*- very beautiful message and because of that may be even one of my favorites. ~Whatever it is, I just can't stop- most forgettable yet, would've liked for something more impactful to happen with the instrumental like a sudden tempo change or a climax of the song, it feels a bit too linear. ~Blow your mind- this just feels so so so insanely dragged out just because they wanted to hit that 8-minute mark, even more so because of that the last 4 minutes are just instrumental, just because it's well done doesn't mean it can automatically stand on its own. ~Revolution 1993**- wasn't expecting the instrumental change especially at the start but I was happily surprised, also has a beautiful message, the woman's voice in the background makes the song even more special, would've definitely preferred it to be a lot shorter but at least it doesn't feel dragged out. ~Didgin' out- the didgeridoo is back for some reason, the only reason I don't completely dislike it is that the album started and ended with it and that brings it some cohesiveness, I don't know why they'd finish the album with an all-instrumental song instead of something more interesting though. OVERALL whilst it is a pretty cohesive album it's not at all my music taste. still, I was surprised that I didn't dislike it. it has it's high points and low points. I'm sure it will work better for the people that dig this genre a lot more. it's likely, though, that I would listen to it again if I wanna be in a good mood. one thing I can say is that, whilst the lyrics about social problems are pretty surface level, I think that they at least do their job of transmitting the message that they wanted to say.

Instrumental de qualidade, e o resto soa com pretensioso.

Empezó bien, recuerdo que solía escuchar a Jamiroquai porque me latía pero ahora me enfadó muy pronto.

Did not really like this album. Sounds like smooth jazz, ie. Boring. 2 stars

Didgeroo'd up was a cool song

Not awful, but not what I like. 6.0/10

Eh, doesn’t do anything for me

Not my favourite Jamiroquai album to be honest, and I'm not even that keen on their other albums.

It's impressive how bland this album is. Sixth form political lyrics and the inclusion of a didgeridoo. If magnolia paint was an album. BT: When You Gonna Learn?, Too Young To Die, Emergency on Planet Earth

Jazzy and spunky. 0RS

Didn't find it as good as the later albums.

Funky-jazzy. Un clàssic però m'ha aburrit una mica. Potser escoltat de fons, o amb més atenció. Potser no tenia al dia

Shingles band

Meh. Title track and instrumental before it were decent, rest is a bit samey

não gosto de jamiroquai

I wanted to like this more than I did...Look, we get it...You figured out the didgeridoo, and we're all proud of you for it, but it doesn't need to be in every song. Really ruined what could have been a much better album, because Jamiroquai is exceedingly talented.

Didn't get through the whole album, wasn't really something i'm into

It's not bad, per se. It's just not for me. Every song kind of sounds the same as the last. And it reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite.

White people funk

öppnar ändå helt okej med gött sound men allt låter för likt tycker jag.

Just not good enough

Ugg... that name and cover aint doing nothing to draw me in. but I did anyway. what a shambles. stevie wonder make believe. the only emergency is how to not listen to two hours of this drivel.

Faux funk

Obviously, Jay Kay is a knobhead, but I figured maybe the debut record might have some redeeming factors given the benefit of time. Kicking off with some didgeredoo instantly dispelled me of this notion. Lots of turgid cod-hippy lyrics, and then we get into things like the ad libbing in If I Like It I Do It, which is diabolical. So much competent but boring funk that adds nothjng to the canon. Good bassline in We're Too Young To Die. Otherwise a total waste of time.

I hate this

None of the bearables

Oh no. I hated this guy as a preteen and his stupid hats. There was something just off about him and his presence across radio and television. Wait a minute? His mum was in the black and white minstrel show? And his music, band name and fashion were all cultural appropriation. Guess it's genetic.... I feel wrong even giving this the time of day. ------------------- I didn't even realise that Jamiroquai were a band. That's how much JK (yuck) dominated their presence in media. The real standout for me in this album is the bassist - Stuart Zender. He's got a real funky style that stands out. The rest of the tracks musically blend into each-other. I've said on previous reviews that I don't have a reference point for Jazz and that reviewing it is very difficult due to lack of exposure. This however feels like it's a jam band playing 70's funk/soul with random instruments thrown in for fun. Can we just delete the vocal tracks? I'd possibly listen to this band without him. His faux American trying to be Stevie Wonder warbling just irritates me beyond belief. I can see why young me instantly and irrationally hated him. Turns out he was a nob all along. Best track [Music of the Mind] : because it's instrumental.

At times I felt like I was being tortured listening to this record. Annoying voice, annoying music done much better elsewhere. BIG NO.

Good grief this is bleeping terrible. 1.0

When You Gonna Learn? - 3.5/5 Too Young to Die - 3/5 Hooked Up - 3/5 If I Like It, I Do It - 2.5/5 Music of the Mind - 2/5 Emergency on Planet Earth - 2.5/5 Whatever It Is, I Just Can't Stop - 1.5/5 Blow Your Mind - 2/5 Revolution 1993 - 1/5 Didgin' Out - 1/5

Flaccid Jazz. This is the Liberal Democrat’s of music. Performative, pointless, and solely for middle class idiots with no real insight

Too Young to Die

90’s Brit Funk revival Not for me, Jay Kay has a nice voice I suppose but the music is bland and overproduced, and very samey. Nothing stood out. Favourite track: the one with the didgeridoo was at least funny

Wearing a giant hat does not make this a record I need to listen to.

Fuck that guy.

Man, this dude won't quit with Stevie Wonder-isms, will he. Aside from trying to mimic Wonder vocally (which itself will make you wish you were listening to the real deal), it sounds as though singer Jay Kay (and his co-writer Toby Smith) are cherry-picking individual chords from Wonder's 70s-era output and randomly stitching them together into numbers that lack any rhyme or reason. If you can stand more than three tracks of this audio car crash without getting a headache, you're made from stronger stuff than I am.

Fucking hell. Had to turn it off. Couldn't stand the put-on American singing voice.

Acid jazz, white funk, didgeridoo solos. Why am I doing this to myself - fuck my life. Genuinely baffled how this is rated so highly at over 3. One star only from me.

I really hate this. It's super unenjoyable. White guy trying to invoke 70s soul but just extra cringey

Jamiroquaiteshit more like

You know when you have that visceral, unquantifiable, irrational hatred of someone or something. You can’t explain explain it but you also cannot change it. Unfortunately, that’s me and Jamiroquai.

Utter shite

Jay Kay really has set himself up to be mocked with his big stupid hats, ridiculous dress sense, childish lyrics, daft stage antics, absurd self-importance. What a prat. What a pillock. The whole thing is laughable and I am glad it is widely laughed at. The only thing is, for a surprisingly long time, Jamiroquai were very popular. Why? How? The album ends with two interminable 10-minute tracks, then the final track is just some nice simple didgeridoo music, a welcome palate-cleanser after an hour of terrible acid jazz.

The first song needs to loose that didgeridoo.

Another very groovy album. I was surprised this sound was from the 90s. It felt like a lot of noise to me, and a little overwhelming. Messages if black power.

Couldn't stand Jamiroquai when I was younger thought Jay Kay was such a bell end. Whilst my views and tastes have changed and mellowed over the years - this still makes my ears bleed. Not aware of what Jay Kay is upto currently - but would put money on him still being a dick.

Doesn't feel very creatively fresh, even for 1993. Also sounds a bit like that jam band down the block that everyone knows who loves Grateful Dead and Phish a bit too much. Outfits feel like they were stolen when Funkadelic and Parilament weren't looking. And the lyrics don't feel like they work at all. I prefer more my funk be a bit more genuine and sincere. Too much imitation and not enough of their own originality. Feels uninspiring. "Revolution 1993" was a fun instrumental mix even if the lyrical rhythm rocked while the lyrical feeling felt phony and silly.

mais um apropriador nojento, estamos cansados de elvis presleys que surgem a todo momento para sugar a energia vital da arte preta. mereço/5

Soul/Funk is just not my thing . . .

Not great

Big hats, bad music. I can’t get behind this on a million levels.

I didn't enjoy it.

Bloody hell, I had to grit my teeth for this one. In fairness, the chap can sing. The tunes have a mildly infectious quality. And I’m glad to live in a country where anyone can adorn themselves in the headgear of their choosing. But every time a new song started, I just wanted it to be over. I don’t know why, and I’m not going to spend any more time pondering it. And this lark is playing havoc with my algorithms.

Unremittingly tedious. As soon as the vocals kick in I feel tense and bilious. I hope this never fouls my ears again. Can I give 0 stars?

Jamiroquai being on here makes me worried that some other wishy washy nothingness like Toploader is going to show up. Suburban dinner party mom music

Not my type of jazz

All shades of shitty nonsense

The cultural appropriation posts about this were almost comical enough to make this album something but nope. Cute singer though

Didn't really enjoy any of the songs. Background music at best for me.

Couldn't stand Jamiroquai when I was younger thought Jay Kay was such a bell end. Whilst my views and tastes have changed and mellowed over the years - this still makes my ears bleed. Not aware of what Jay Kay is upto currently - but would put money on him still being a dick.

Funk *Acid Jazz, whatever that is. Different. The 1990's

Det här är svindåligt!

The 90s in the UK were a weird time weren't they. How we mocked this idiot with his insane hat and weird white-boi funky rhythms. But he has a supercar collection AND got to boff Denise Van Outen, so guess he has no regrets. Didn't like it then, don't like it now. Still reminds me way too much of a CD in the Ford Mondeo of a sales rep in the Midlands.

I could write a whole thesis on this album (and band) but I'll narrow it down to two words - puerile drivel.

I'm sure it's great to someone.

Can’t stand this stuff …

I will be honest, I don't like Jamiroquai. I never have. I find the vocalist's voice annoying, and I don't like the music. It sounds like "generic modern funk" to me.

The fuck is this. Kind of like Sly and the Family Stone, if Sly and the Family Stone fucking sucked. If American Psycho took place in the 90s, you know Patrick Bateman would have been a massive Jamiroquai fan.

Sounds like a white guy wearing a silly hat.

I really disliked this. The songs weren’t doing it for me and were way too long. They all sounded the same to me too.

WHO STRUCK MY MOTOR CAAAARRRR

Not for me

Yeah, wasn't looking forward to listening to this one. I had forgotten about Jamiroquai for about 15 years or so. I wish I could forget again. It's one thing to be influenced by Stevie Wonder, it's another to basically ape his entire package. The cloyingly sweet togetherness lyrics are uninspired and overly cliche. I'm sure these session musicians went on to back other more deserving artists, but their talent is wasted here.

Boring just not my style

melody? who needs a melody?

some fuckin narcissistic Brit starts a funk band with a name from jam + Iroquois, prances around in hats trying to sing like a Black man from the 1970s is stuff like this on here to make cultural appropriation by groups like the Stones seem more reasonable? this is the worst headdress-at-music-festival sort of stuff. except for the appalling vocals + lyrics, the band is very middle of the road music: hated. (⌐■_■)

Imagine listening to the whole hour of this, the whole time knowing that the last song is called Didgin’ Out. That’s the light at the end of the tunnel, Didgin’ Out.

Changed my life.

A whole album from a one hit wonder that doesnt have the one hit. I didn't need 10 tracks of this.

Not a fan of Jazz, especially Jazz Funk. This album didn't do anything for me - elevator music.

i don't know who should be more offended: acid or jazz

I used to be neutral on Jamiroquai. Now I understand why people hate his music so much.

Boring and it sucks.

Every single song sounded the exact same and I very genuinely hated it. Funk is straight ass when it’s displayed like this. After the 2nd song I wanted to smash my face through my kitchen table.

Get back in your silly hat

No thank you. sounds like a disco revival no one asked for. I remember when this came out. To this day I do not like Jamiroquai. I hope the other 1k record aren't this bad. I can see how some people might enjoy this record, I just don't want to be around that kind of mind. Each song is worse than the last. Did not finish.

I'm gay as fuck, who wanna fuck me in the ass

Easy listeningiä lisää! Tämä on paskaa! When you gonna learn, live at Leadmill paras biisi MILLON OPITTE ETTÄ EN TÄLLÄSTÄ GENREÄ siis R&B, *gulps* KATTELE VIIKOTTAIN, MONTAA KERRALLAKO HÄH, JOKA TUUTISTA PASKAA.. Ei muuten albumin paras biisi hittaa yhtään paljaana.. Vie albumin mukana ihan hyvin..

Acid Jazz without the acid, questionable on the jazz, and a guy's singing that gives you relief when his vocals cease

Alright. Bit too much funk rather than jazz.

The twat in the hat, really took against this and couldn’t be bothered to finish

Absolutely loathsome

I know it’s fashionable to dislike Jamiroquai, but after all these years I didn’t find this that offensive. Or stimulating. Why you would listen to this by choice, rather than anything by Stevie Wonder, is beyond me. Cheesy wine bar music from the 90s.

The fuck is JK worth $70m for producing this dirge. Some bloke singing over a thrift shop jazz record. If you want to stop the Emergency on Planet Earth, stop landing your fucking helicopter on wildlife.

Aged like a fine wine. No more like rotting fish found at the bottom of the bin.

Not for me

I just dont like the style at all. Just not for me. Other than the song Virtual Insanity that had a fantastic video, I never understood the attraction to this band.

Not my cup of tea

Oh no. This was everywhere. Funk, horns, ba-ba-ba's Music for food festivals 1 star for Blow Your Mind

would not finish

Bleurggh!

Did not like

Kinda whack

i just can't

same as always, the only interesting thing is de bass

Funk and soul played by white posh English dude.glad I never have to listen to that ever again!
